"Mr and Mrs Jeong." You greeted Yunho's parents outside the restaurant.
"Ah, drop the formalities, sweetie! I already told you to call us abonim and omonim. You're practically family!" Mrs Jeong pointed to her husband then herself, holding your hands in hers. You nodded with head, feeling some heat in your cheeks. There was so much love in her smile as she stared at you.
"And you look so beautiful as always!" She pulled you in for a surprise hug. You recovered quickly from the surprise, lifting your arms to hug her back.
"Okay, omma. That's enough." Yunho cleared his throat and gently pulled you back to his side.
"Oh, don't be so possessive son." Mrs Jeong clicked her tongue in disapproval, seeing how Yunho was holding you.
"Our table is ready, let's go in." Gunho informed. You smiled and waved to Gunho, who waved back with a friendly smile that made him look like Yunho.
"No, she's mine." Yunho squinted his eyes at his younger brother, moving you to stand behind him.
"Yun, what are you talking about?" You chuckled.
"You called him cute the first time you saw him at the restaurant. No, even worse, you thought he was cuter than me!" Yunho argued, pointing to Gunho, who just blinked in confusion. You can't believe Yunho remembers that.
"And until now, you still haven't told me that I'm cuter and better than him." He pouted at you. Gunho scoffed at his older brother before heading into the restaurant.
"You're the cutest and bestest to me, alright?" You cooed. He nodded with a goofy smile and leaned down to give you a kiss.
"We better go in." You said and walked into the restaurant with Yunho. It was a cute French bistro.
"Have you been here before?" Yunho leaned over to ask you softly as the two of you sat down in your seats and were handed menus by the wait staff.
"Just because I'm a chef, doesn't mean I know every restaurant, Yun." You laughed as you scanned through the menu.
"They have boeuf bourguignon! I know what that is." Yunho pointed at the menu. That dish had a special place in yours and Yunho's hearts, it was the first time you invited him over to your house and cooked for him. And Yunho will always find endearing how you fell asleep on the couch.
"Are you getting that?" You asked.
"Nope. I'll forever only have the one you cook." Yunho shook his head. You pursed your lips at him.
"Yun, don't say that. And who knows, they may make it better." You shrugged but Yunho was stubborn, shaking his head and looking at the other menu items.
"Have you decided what you're having?" Yunho leaned over.
"I'm thinking between the bouillabaisse, which is a seafood stew, and coq au vin, the chicken mushroom red wine dish." You told him.
"That does sound good... Since I'm not having the beef dish, I'll order the coq au vin. You can order the seafood stew and we'll share it?" He suggested with much excitement.
"You don't have to, Yun..." You smiled softly.
"I'm not sacrificing anything by ordering that. I'm sure they're both good." He smiled. There was no arguing with him so you nodded in agreement. You didn't know that Yunho's parents were looking at the two of you endearingly.
After giving your orders to the waiter, Mr Jeong ordered a bottle of wine and offered you a glass. Yunho wasn't drinking since he drove but you felt bad for turning down a glass.
"Cheers." Mrs Jeong toasted and everyone clinked their glasses before taking sips of their wine, water for Yunho.
"Actually, Mr and Mrs Jeong. I wanted to apologise to you." You spoke, putting your glass down.
"Apologise to us? What for?" Mr Jeong asked, blinking. Mrs Jeong tilted her head in puzzlement and even Yunho gave you a curious look, having heard this the first time.
"The other time we met, I apologise for leaving the party aburptly without a proper goodbye." You explained.
"Oh! That. Don't be sorry, silly. It didn't even occur to us." Mrs Jeong said.
"Still, it was rude of me and-"
"We understand, dear. Really." She cut you off with a soft smile, one that only a mother can give. You nodded with a grateful smile of your own. A lot of people knew what your father and your relationship with him was like, it wasn't a surprise that you didn't get along, especially with your stepfather.
"It wasn't your fault." Yunho said to you with a small frown, holding your hand over his thigh. You sent him a soft smile, knowing he really hates your father. Who doesn't?
"So, (y/n), tell me what it's like dating my brother." Thankfully, Gunho changed the subject.
"Yah, Jeong Gunho..." Yunho gave his brother a threatening glance.
"It's been great, actually. Yunho treats me very well, he takes care of me and is very patient with me." You said with a giggle, feeling your cheeks heat up. You were not used to expressing yourself like this.
"That's good. He better be taking care of you." Mr Jeong raised an eyebrow at Yunho.
"He is, I'm very thankful." You smiled.
"See? You two raised me well, I know how to take care of my partner." Yunho scoffed but had a proud smile on his face, hearing you speak so highly of him.
"Sometimes he's an overgrown, excited puppy, isn't he?" Mrs Jeong asked you. You stifled a laugh, nodding in agreement.
"I thought I was the only one that saw his puppy-likeness. Right from the start." You said between your laughs. Yunho stared at you with a done look, knowing you were always trying to push his golden retriever agenda.
"You're not the only one. Don't worry, we know what you're talking about." She smiled.
"Him and Gunho have been puppy siblings from the start. Even the way they used to fight as kids or now too, they're like litter mates chewing on each other." Mr Jeong chuckled.
"Appa~" The two brothers whined in embarrassment.
When the food was all served, you all dug in, starting with the appetisers that were ordered then the main course.
"How is it?" You asked Yunho as he cut into the chicken. He melted against your shoulder, letting out little sounds of happiness at the taste of the dish.
"That's good." You laughed, breaking a small piece of bread to dip into the stew and offered it to him.
"Thank you." He leaned forward and ate the bread that you were holding out. He pointed at your dish and nodded in approval.
"This is all so good, I love it. I can't decide which is my favourite." Yunho said, making you and his parents laugh. Even though you fed Yunho, Mrs Jeong noticed that Yunho cut a small piece of chicken and let you use your own fork to pick it up for a taste, respecting how you found such PDA awkward.
"It's good, isn't it?" Yunho nudged you lightly as you covered your mouth to chew.
"It is, it's done very well. One of the better coq au vins I've had here." You said. Yunho smiled, happy to know you like the dish even if he wasn't the one that cooked it.
"You're smiling like you're the one that cooked it." Gunho joked.
"Yeah, well I ordered it so it counts." Yunho stuck his tongue out at his younger brother.
"After (y/n) recommended it." Mr Jeong piled on.
"You're all bullying me, I don't like this." Yunho sulked. You chuckled and patted his thigh, with a comforting smile. They moved on to talk about other things, making sure you were included always.
"Excuse me, I need to use the loo." You forced a smile and excused yourself with a bow of your head. You entered the individual toilet and locked the door behind you, leaning against the door and letting out a shaky breath.
It suddenly became overwhelming for you, you didn't know why. Seeing Yunho's happy family. When was the last time you sat down to eat with your family without fighting?
But this isn't about you and your pitiful life. This was you getting to know your boyfriend's loving family, being accepted by them and-
*KNOCK KNOCK*
"O-Occupied!" You stuttered out, standing straight.
"It's me." You heard Yunho's voice on the other side and unlocked the door. Before you could say anything, Yunho made his way in, making you step back.
"Yun, you shouldn't be in here. People may think we're up to no good." You tried to pass it off as a laugh or joke.
"Are you okay?" He stared down at you, a frown of worry on his face. You looked up at him and nodded your head. He tucked your hair behind your ear, he wasn't convinced by your answer.
"Seriously, I'm okay. Don't worry, we shouldn't worry your parents by being away for too long." You said, putting an assuring hand on his arm. You didn't want Yunho to feel the need to comfort you again, it's what he is always doing. And that just makes all the guilt and doubt creep up your throat.
"Stop." He grasped your wrist and tugged you to him, hugging you to his chest tightly. You closed your eyes, enjoying the warmth and security of his hug.
"I love your family. They're so nice, you're lucky to have them." You said, words muffled slightly by his hug as you clutched onto him.
"And they love you too. They're your family as much as they are mine, okay?" He whispered, rubbing your back.
"I swear, I'm not jealous or anything about your family, Yunho. I don't know what came over me, I'm sorry. I'm just petty and clinging onto what could have been..." You shook your head.
"Which you have every right to so don't apologise." He held your chin and tilted your head up.
"I love you." He spoke.
"I love you too." You replied with a soft smile, letting him lean down to give you a kiss. Yunho was too kind for his own good but you loved him and didn't want to let him go. When the both of you pulled away, you leaned against his chest.
"Sorry, I didn't think the first time I'll tell you I love you would be in the bathroom of a restaurant." Yunho chuckled.
"Don't worry about it, this isn't the first time." You replied with a giggle. Yunho pulled back to give a questioning look, not knowing what you were referring to.
"Yesterday in your drunken stupor, you told me you loved me. Then told me you loved the cake I made." You explained to him.
"I-I did?" He stuttered, his cheeks turning red as he facepalmed. You nodded your head.
"Oh god. Why didn't you mention this to me?" His head fell onto your shoulder. All you did was continue to laugh, wrapping your arms around his head.
"You were too cute. But we should really go." You said to him, stroking his cheek. He nodded and straightened up.
"Wait, before we go back..." He quickly stole another kiss before opening the door to let you through, making your eyes widen in shock. Yunho walked behind you as you headed back to the table. The first thing you did was bow and apologise to Yunho's family for disappearing for so long.
"No worries. Shall we get dessert?" Mrs Jeong asked, not making you feel embarrassed or anything, playing it off as a minor issue. You hummed and looked at the menu.
"So, what's good?" Yunho, once again, leaned over to ask you.
"I'm not telling you." You snickered and hid your face behind your menu, playfully leaning away from him.
"But (y/n)~ I wanna share with you." Yunho whined, continuing to lean into you until he was practically draped over you while you were laying on the couch of the booth.
"Yunho! Let the poor girl go before you squish her." Mrs Jeong scolded her son.
"What can I get you all for dessert?" The waiter came. Yunho cast a look over to you, waiting for you to order.
"We'll share a crêpes suzette and and a slice of tarte tartin." You ordered with a small chuckle, you gave in to Yunho too easily. The waiter nodded and took the other orders before leaving. Mr Jeong chuckled, shaking his head.
"Do you always give in to him so easily?" He raised an eyebrow. His smile indicated that he was joking.
"Can't help it... I guess we just give into each other a lot. Sometimes without knowing too." You smiled with a casual shrug. Yunho nodded in agreement.
When the desserts were served, all of you shared your desserts. Mr Jeong had a small glass of digestif orujo (Spanish after dinner drink of alcohol, most likely Spanish brandy, served in a shot)
"See? Trusting you chef taste is good." Yunho said happily, eating a piece of the crepe.
"Grand marnier, an orange liquor is poured over and lit up. This is one of Jongho's favourite desserts actually." You told him.
"Would you like a glass?" Mr Jeong offered.
"Oh, no. I'm good, abonim. Thank you for offering." You shook your head, not wanting to take anymore strong alcohol. You took a bite of tarte tartin that was served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream then pushed your plate closer to Yunho for him to take a scoop off your plate to try.
"Can you make this? I like it." Yunho pointed to your tarte tartin.
"Sure, Yunho. I'll make it next time you come over and you can use different fruits too, whatever is in season." You laughed. Yunho clapped his hands excitedly.
After all the desserts and conversations were done, Mr Jeong raised his hand to ask the waiter for the bill.
"Actually, Mr Jeong, if it's okay with you, I would like to pay for dinner." You offered. Yunho's parents looked at you with wide eyes.
"What? Nonsense, (y/n). We appreciate it but we can't let you pay! Ah... how about, next time, you cook dinner for us instead?" Mrs Jeong waved you off with a giggle.
"That's a promise." You smiled. Once the bill was paid, you all headed out.
"Thank you so much for tonight, it has been great. I had a great time and the food was amazing." You said to all of them.
"Aww, you're most welcome, (y/n). We have to do this again soon, okay? Don't stay away for too long." Mrs Jeong pulled you into a tight hug. You melted in her hold, closing your eyes as you savoured the feeling of a mother's hug.
"Any time you need anything, let us know." Mr Jeong gave you a fatherly smile and tucked you to his side for a brief hug, just like how Yunho always did.
"I will, thank you. Have a good night, omonim and abonim." You smiled. You waved to Gunho, who waved back with a bright grin.
"Bye, (y/n)~" Gunho sang as he waved. Yunho glared at his brother but still gave him a goodbye hug.
As you all parted ways for the night, you and Yunho decided to go for a short walk at a nearby park before heading home. The weather was nice to spend some quiet time with Yunho.
"So, what did you think of tonight? I know my family can be... enthusiastic..." Yunho asked.
"They're great, I love them and I'm glad I got to know them better, especially your mother." You said, taking a seaton the bench.
"Yeah, she's a little... excited... to have a daughter to hang out with and do girly things together. You don't have to give in." Yunho rubbed the back of his neck. You shook your head, you were happy to spend time with Yunho's mother, it would be like all the time you could have had with your own mother.
"Actually, I-"
*meow*
"What's wrong?" Yunho tilted his head when you stopped talking mid way. You turned your head, looking around for the source of the sound. It was faint but you could hear it.
"You didn't hear that? Like a 'meow' or something..." You frowned, having heard it again.
"No, I don't hear anything. Or is there only a wavelength cats can hear each other on?" Now it was Yunho's turn to tease you.
"Ha. Ha. Very funny, turning the tables on me." You scoffed. You stood up, walking to where you heard the sound. Yunho curiously followed behind you.
"(y/n), be careful." Yunho warned. You stooped in front of some bushes, pushing them aside. Behind them, there was a small cardboard box. But before you could open it, Yunho grasped your arm to stop you.
"It's fine, Yun." You laughed and opened the box. It was hard to see so you used the torch on your phone to see.
There, in the corner of the box, a black kitten was curled up. It looked up and stared back at you with big green eyes. Yunho, with longer limbs, reached in to help you bring the box out.
"Look at you, poor thing." You gently reached out to stroke the kitten's head.
"Should we take him or her... out of the box?" Yunho abruptly reached in to try and grab the kitten.
"Oww! It scratched me." Yunho recoiled with a hiss of pain, looking at the little lines that the kitten left on his hand. Thankfully, it wasn't deep enough to bleed.
"You can't just reach in and grab it, Yun. Be gentle, you probably spooked the poor thing." You said.
In the end, Yunho helped carry the entire box with the kitten in it to his car. But he didn't want you to have it on your lap since it was dirty from being on the floor for god knows how long. So you coaxed the the kitten out and wrapped it in your jacket. You sat in the passenger seat with it in your lap.
"So what do we do with the little guy?... Or girl..." Yunho asked, leaning on his steering wheel.
"Well, we can't just leave it out there. It's just a baby, it won't survive." You sighed. The kitten snuggled into the warmth of your jacket, closing its eyes.
"Let's get some cat food and bring it home for a bit to get it warm." Yunho suggested.
"Okay, you hold onto it. It seems to like you more." Yunho said. But before he could start the engine to drive, you let the kitten go over.
"See? It likes you too. Just don't be too abrupt when handling him." You giggled, seeing the kitten curiously sniff Yunho as it balanced on the middle console of the car.
"Just hold onto it! I can't drive with a kitten in my lap." Yunho burst out laughing, gently patting the head of the kitten.
"Come here, the big doggy man is too scary, huh?" You cooed to the kitten while Yunho rolled his eyes and began to drive to the nearest pet store that was still open. The kitten comfortably curled up in your jacket again.
"Don't worry, you won't be alone again." You smiled softly.

You wake the next day to an insistent knocking sound, a fist pounding against the front door of their apartment. Yunho nearly falls out of bed at the noise, shaking his head hard to banish the cobwebs, but Mingi is on his feet in seconds.
“What’s going on?” You murmur, rubbing a hand over your face and stretching your tired limbs.
“I got it,” Mingi shakes his head at you, “just stay with Yunho,”
A chill runs over your arms, and with no blankets to drag up over you, you push yourself off the bed and grab for Mingi’s hoodie, pulling it over your head quickly and relaxing into its warmth.
“Coming!” Mingi calls gruffly towards the door, and the knocking stops immediately.
You glance at Yunho and he shrugs, but his eyes quickly flick to the door, able to see all the way down the hall from this vantage point and he waits.
You listen as Mingi turns over the deadbolt and unlocks the chain, swinging the door open, “Oh,” he says, “hyung,”
“Is y/n here?” Seonghwa’s voice sounds a little strained, like he ran up three flights of stairs.
Yunho looks like he’s about to say something, but you smooth your hair back behind your ears and head down the hall for the door.
“Yeah, she’s,” Mingi says, but you move around his side and Seonghwa’s eyes shift to you.
“There you are,” Seonghwa sighs, looking instantly relieved.
“Was I supposed to be somewhere?” Your eyebrows draw together, mind still a little fuzzy with sleep.
Mingi takes a step away, and Seonghwa pushes across the threshold, “You haven’t been answering your phone at all, and when you didn’t show up this morning to practice… I just got worried,”
“Oh, Hwa,” You soften, “I’m fine,”
He hesitates, eyes flicking over you, and then he pulls you into his arms, sighing heavily, “Sorry, of course you are,”
You tuck your face into his warm chest, squeezing him tight, “I’m good, I haven’t looked at my phone though, I was a little out of it last night,”
“Did you just get up?” He pulls back and looks you over.
“Mhm,”
“It’s one o’clock,” He says softly, “you can see why I was worried,”
“It’s one?” You’re shocked at the time, that you were able to sleep for almost twelve hours and so were they, despite your brief and terrifying wake up in the middle.
Seonghwa smiles, “Yeah, but it’s fine, as long as you’re okay,”
There are so many pieces to what happened yesterday you still don’t have answers to, and you’re not sure if now is the right time, but with Seonghwa in front of you things finally feel better. He’s been there for you so much recently that it feels like seeing him now is the clear missing piece to you finally releasing the last bit of tension from last night.
A beat stretches between you and you nod.
Yunho clears his throat softly from next to you both, “I’ll put some coffee on,”
You almost forgot they were right by your side, and as Yunho makes his way to the kitchen, Mingi exhales with another rough noise.
“Hey,” Seonghwa finally properly greets him, looking away from your face, “sorry, how are you holding up?”
“Just woke up,” Mingi shrugs, “not sure yet,”
Seonghwa’s eyes flick to you briefly as he registers that you’ve all just gotten up for the day.
“Mingi,” Yunho calls from the kitchen, “can you help me with something?”
“With what?” Mingi doesn’t draw his eyes away from either of you.
“Coffee,” Yunho replies.
Mingi’s brow furrows and he doesn’t move but turns his head towards the kitchen, “What help do you need with the coffee?”
“Just come here,” Yunho sounds frustrated and you cover your mouth to keep from laughing.
“Fine,” Mingi grumbles, throwing one last look back at Seonghwa before heading towards the kitchen.
With the room clear, you look back to Seonghwa, “Are you okay?”
“Am I?” He looks confused.
“I don’t really know what happened yesterday,” You explain, “I barely saw you after everything, but Yunho said you and San took care of things, and I saw blood,”
“Mm,” He nods, but doesn’t offer anything else.
“What does that mean?” You press him.
His eyes flick away and he shrugs, “It means San and I took care of it until the cops came.”
“Hwa,” You shake your head.
“Look,” He bites his lip and runs a hand through his dark hair, “can we sit down for a minute? I need to talk to you,”
“Is everything okay?”
“I’m not sure,” He admits, “let’s just… can we sit?”
“Yeah,” You step back, gesturing for him to come further into the apartment and he takes a seat on one side of the sectional, gingerly on the edge with his hands clasped in front of him. Your eyes zero in on the bandages immediately.
“Seonghwa!” You reach for him immediately, taking his hands in yours.
“Oh,” He takes his hands back and flexes them, “I’m fine, see?”
“What happened?” Your voice raises a little, and Mingi appears in the doorway of the kitchen, one eyebrow raised.
“This is what I wanted to talk to you about,” He sighs.
“Your hands?”
“Yeah,” Seonghwa pulls them further away from you and shakes his head, “I talked to the police last night and there’s something you need to know,”
“The police?” You straighten up.
“Mhm,” Seonghwa’s hand rubs over the back of his damaged knuckles, “they interviewed all of us, I think,”
“I talked to them at the hospital,” You nod.
“Were they alright with you?” Seonghwa asks, eyes flicking to yours.
“Mostly,” You nod, “some of their questions were a little,” you search for the right word.
“Pointed?” Seonghwa fills in.
“Exactly,” You cross your arms unconsciously, remembering the way the detective talked to you, “they kept wanting to know about my cycle,”
“They asked you that?” Seonghwa’s voice spikes a little.
You nod, “I think it was pretty clear what they were trying to ask considering he said he was rutting,”
Seonghwa’s jaw tightens as he exhales, “I’m so sorry,”
“It’s alright,” You know it isn’t, but there isn’t anything to be done, “they took my blood, they’ll see I’m not even in pre-heat, it was nothing like that,”
“We know that,” Seonghwa reaches across to brush his hand over yours, “you know that right?”
“Of course I do,”
“And even if you had been,” His hand flexes around yours, tightening and relaxing.
“I know,” You assure him again, communicating as much as you can with a look.
“Okay,” He sighs, “okay, good.”
He pulls his hand back, and suddenly his face looks familiar. His expression so like that day before the tour in the faraway cafe. He’s working himself up to telling you something, and you can see that he’s scared.
“Seonghwa, what is it?” You push a little, “You can tell me anything,”
He presses his lips together before he says, “Right, so the police,”
Mingi and Yunho choose this moment to file back into the room, both carrying two coffees each and Mingi sets yours down in front of you made up just how you like it before Yunho offers Seonghwa a cup. He accepts it, but lets it sit on the coffee table untouched while they get settled on the opposite side of the couch.
“Just tell me,” You nod, bracing yourself a little.
Seonghwa looks down, eyes on the floor while he gathers himself and his thoughts and then finally says, “I might have hurt your case,”
“My case?” The words don’t quite make sense.
“Going after him like I did,” He says simply, eyes still downcast.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” You shift closer to him on the couch, reaching out but not quite touching him, “what happened?”
“You didn’t tell her?” Seonghwa looks up but past you, straight at Yunho.
“What?” You look between them, nothing making sense at all.
“You weren’t here,” Yunho insists, “she was upset last night, I was going to tell her this morning.”
“Can you both stop talking around me and just say it?” Your voice takes a higher pitch, “I’m not a child.”
“I’m sorry,” Seonghwa shakes his head, reaching for you and taking your hands folded in his own, “let me start over,”
“Please,”
“Minseok,” He says, the name a little uncomfortable in his mouth, “We got him into the hall and when I realized what happened, what he almost did to you,” he flexes his hand again and shakes his head, “I lost it a little,”
“Hwa,” You murmur.
“The police said because he had already been detained and it was no longer in defense or de-escalation it could hurt your ability to have him fully charged,” Seonghwa says in a breath, rubbing a hand over his eyes, “it’ll be possible for him to press his own charges if he wants, and I have reason to believe he’s getting those charges filed today,”
“That’s insane,” You straighten up, “You were just helping me,”
“No,” Seonghwa finally meets your eyes, “they were helping. I was… kicking the shit out of an defenseless man,”
You open your mouth to say something but Mingi cuts in easily, “That’s not what I saw.”
“What?” Seonghwa’s head snaps to the side.
Mingi shrugs, “If you hurt your case then so did I, we all probably did, but if he knows what’s good for him he’ll take the firing on the chin and move on without dragging this to court.”
“You fired him?” Your eyebrows raise.
Yunho’s brows furrow, “Of course he’s fired, he’s not getting within a mile of you ever again,”
Relief floods you and you nod, shifting your eyes back to Seonghwa, “How do you know he’s filing?”
“Woo went to school with someone who works at the hospital in the emergency unit,” Seonghwa explains, “he called this morning just to find out Minseok’s discharge status so we knew when he’d be out,”
That’s a thought that hasn’t occurred to you yet, and you take a steadying breath.
“He’s going to be in for a little while,” Seonghwa assures you, “a week or two at least, but he did tell us that there were police there interviewing him. His family was also present, and it seems as though they have money and more to say,”
“Entitled little prick,” Mingi curses.
Seonghwa’s lip quirks up in a brief smile, but then he nods, “There’s not a scratch on any of us except him,” he points out, “it doesn’t look good,”
You shift closer, “What did you do to him?”
“I don’t,” He shakes his head, eyes softening, “I just lost it, San pulled me off him,”
“Seonghwa,” You murmur.
“He’s got broken ribs,” Seonghwa swallows hard, “and I think I broke his jaw,”
“Jesus,” You breathe.
“I wish I had,” Yunho says calmly, “he deserved it.”
“Not if he can get away with what he did,” Seonghwa returns his hands to yours, “I’m so sorry,”
“Hwa,” You shake your head, moving even closer on the sofa until you’re side to side, knees touching, “you have nothing to apologize for. I’m so grateful you were there,”
His eyes go a little watery, and he cups your cheek, “When I think about the fact that I almost left early,”
“When have you ever left early?” You give him a soft smile.
“Seriously,” He shakes his head and leans closer, “I keep thinking about what would have happened if you were there alone, I keep seeing it,”
“Stop, Hwa, please,” You squeeze his hand, “I’m okay, you were all still there,”
“Yeah,” He breathes, but you can hear the tenor of lingering fear in his voice. He leans forward, pressing his lips to your forehead and exhaling over your skin.
You let your eyes slip closed, and for a brief moment you forget about the other two men in the room with you, watching over the moment of intimacy with their breath caught in their chests.
Seonghwa leans back a moment later, eyes clear now, and finally looks you over. He pushes your hair to the side and makes a face at the sight of your swollen, bruised gland, “What’s this?”
“Nothing,” You shake your head, telling him clearly with your eyes not to pry.
“Don’t tell me that’s nothing,” He says softly.
“I promise,” You squeeze his hand, “I’m okay,”
He swallows and then nods once before jerking his head towards Mingi and Yunho, “Did they take care of you okay?”
“Yes, Seonghwa,” You sigh.
You look to them, expecting to see some kind of comedic expression, or bristling annoyance at Seonghwa’s insistent checking, but that’s not what you see at all. Yunho looks like all the air has been let out of him, his eyes soft and unfocused. Mingi’s doing his best to seem relaxed and casual, but you know him well enough to know that he’s anything but, his tightly clenched hands telling you everything.
“Hmm,” Seonghwa’s soft hum draws your eyes back to his, “and is there anything you need?”
“I don’t know,” You confess, “is it silly to say I’m still tired?”
“No,” Seonghwa brushes his hand over your hair again, tucking your hair back to where it was a moment ago, “nothing you wanted would be silly right now.”
“Is everyone else alright?” You murmur.
“They are,” He squeezes your hand, “you just focus on you.”
You manage a nod, and you want to look back to Yunho and Mingi and see why they’re so silent, but Seonghwa continues.
“You don’t have to be okay,” Seonghwa says softly, “but are you?”
You know what he’s asking with his eyes, if being here with them is too much, if you’re able to get what you need in the midst of all the emotional circles you had been dealing with before the studio last night. You love him for it, but you nod, “I am, honestly,”
“Then if you’re okay,” Seonghwa smiles a little, “I’ll leave you be,”
“I’m okay,” You glance back to Yunho and Mingi, and their eyes are holding on to anything but you and Seonghwa.
“I just needed to see you and make sure, and to talk to you about things,” Seonghwa explains, pushing himself up to stand, “I don’t know what will happen, but I’ll do whatever I can to make sure it doesn’t affect you,”
You stand with him and shake your head again, “Whatever happens with Minseok, we’ll deal with it together. Don’t put that on yourself, please,”
He nods, and then you pull him into a hug, a quick squeeze before he steps away.
“That’s it?” Mingi’s voice is incredulous as he stands up, “You’re leaving her?”
You turn, fully confused by the sudden bubbling anger in Mingi, “What?”
“I mean,” Seonghwa looks just as confused, “it seems like you’ve got things covered?”
“Covered?” Mingi’s voice tightens.
“Mingi,” Yunho tugs at his friend’s arm, “sit down,”
“You’re seriously going?” Mingi repeats.
The tension in the room is bizarre, the comforting moment you had with your friend completely undercut and you keep looking to Yunho for clarity but he just won’t look you in the eye, his eyes are set on Mingi.
“I’m seriously confused,” Seonghwa looks between you and them, “y/n?”
Your mouth is open, nothing really making sense for how quick to anger Mingi is in this moment, especially now, and all you can do is look to Mingi for answers, but you find little in his fierce gaze.
“I’m just saying,” Mingi’s jaw sets hard, “if something like this happened to my girlfriend I wouldn’t be so quick for the door,”
“My what?” Seonghwa glances down at you.
The words don’t make sense, “I have no idea,” you manage, “what are you talking about?”
“What are you talking about?” Mingi takes a half step back, eyes flicking between you.
There’s a long beat of silence, and finally, finally, someone speaks.
“You’re not together,” Yunho says, not a question but a realization.
Pins slot into place, every little moment over the past few months coming into perfect clarity. You answer him anyways, “No, we’re not,”
“Were you?” He clarifies.
“Not like that,” You shake your head.
“Oh,” Mingi’s hands relax, talking a half step backwards as the realization hits him.
“You thought we were dating?” Seonghwa finally says, gesturing between the two of you.
“Well,” Mingi clears his throat, “yeah,”
“We’re not,” You confirm again and Yunho grins. Your stomach flips.
“I really thought…” Yunho trails off, shaking his head.
“Why would I have come home with you last night if he and I are together?” You trail off.
“Yesterday was insane,” Mingi reasons, “I would have taken you anywhere you wanted to go if it made you feel better, I wasn’t questioning it,”
“Oh,” You soften at that.
“But I guess I was wrong,” Mingi looks a little sheepish when he looks at Seonghwa.
“Yeah,” Seonghwa squeezes your hand and then drops it, “y/n is… great, wonderful even, but it was never like that. I’m in love with someone else.”
Your heart twists, knowing exactly what he means.
“Fuck,” Mingi rubs the back of his neck, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to act like such an ass,”
“No, no,” Seonghwa waves him off, “I get it,”
“But,” Yunho looks up, and his eyes on yours freezes you to the spot, “I thought you said you had something to tell us?”
“And you thought it was that I’m dating Seonghwa?”
“I thought you were trying to let us down easy,” He blurts out.
“No, that wasn’t…” You can’t fight the smile off your face now, “that’s not it at all,”
His lips part, realization filling his features, “God, we’re idiots,”
“Kind of,”
“I should have just asked you on tour,” Mingi all but blushes and it’s quite possibly the first time you’ve ever seen him be so embarrassed.
The moment is so absurd, so tangibly comical after last night and you can’t help but laugh again, “You thought I was that excited to see you after three months just to tell you that I’m dating one of your best friends?”
“When you say it like that,” Yunho trails off.
“Wow,” You clap a hand over your lips, “Woo is going to have a field day,”
Seonghwa snorts softly, but stays quiet.
“So if you’re not together, and weren’t together,” Mingi starts, lights going off in his brain as he rewrites all the things he thought he knew, his eyes find yours and hold steady.
Butterflies start in your stomach, you feel it in the air like something’s about to shift under your feet and you should be bracing yourself. This is not the moment you imagined, not in the slightest, but there’s something steady about the way he’s looking at you and you want to reach out and grab onto it.
Seonghwa softly clears his throat and takes a step towards the door, “I should go,” he says, “you look like you need some space,”
You do, but you spin quick and catch his hand as he turns, “Wait, Hwa,”
He pauses, glancing up over your shoulder at them before looking down to you again.
“I have to thank you before you go,” You squeeze his hand, “I’m… I don’t know what else to say, but I,”
“Come here,” Seonghwa tucks you into his chest, hugging you close, “I’d do it again in a minute,”
“I know,”
“We may not be dating,” He says, and you can practically see the smile on his mouth, “but you’re one of my best friends and I’d do anything for you, okay?”
“Okay,” You squeeze him tighter.
He sighs, letting you go and pressing a quick, chaste kiss to your cheek, “Call me if you need me, okay?”
“I will,” You nod.
“And text Wooyoung back,” He says, almost an afterthought, “he was flipping out this morning,”
“Tell him I’m fine,” You say, “I’ll message him later,”
“I’m here for anything,” He reiterates, “and I’ll let everyone know you’re doing alright,”
“Thank you, Seonghwa, really,”
He nods, “I’ll let myself out,” he says quietly, and then he’s gone, the door clicking shut behind him.
You don’t quite know what’s about to happen when you turn around but the butterflies in your stomach triple. Silence stretches between the three of you, and you know that the conversation you wanted carefully planned is happening now whether you’re emotionally prepared for it or not, no matter what happened yesterday.
You turn back to them and the words slip out as you process everything out loud, “I don’t understand why you wouldn’t just ask me,”
“You asked us not to,” Yunho says quietly, “and after what happened before…”
“Yun,” You start, looking between them, but he presses forwards.
“We didn’t listen to you then,” Yunho says, “I wasn’t going to fuck this up again,”
Mingi’s quiet, his eyes downcast as he thinks, and your stomach turns into anxious knots.
“Maybe this isn’t the time,” You murmur, and you’re about to say more but Mingi cuts you off.
“No, please,” Mingi’s head snaps up, “not this time, this time we need to talk.”
“Okay,” You breathe.
“I should have said it in the letter,” Mingi clears his throat and finally holds your gaze for longer than a second, “maybe that would have made this easier, but, I’ll say it now.”
“Mingi,”
“I love you,” He says, letting the words live in the space between you for just a moment before he continues, “I’ve loved you for a long time. You can tell me no, you can go if you want to, but we’ve spent so long not saying anything to each other, so I have to say this.”
“You love me,” Your stomach flutters, heart pounding in your chest.
“Yes,” Mingi nods, no hesitation or wavering, matter of fact, one of the things you’ve always loved about him.
The air feels a little thinner in the room, like the altitude has changed, and you swallow thickly. You need to get your emotions under control, but Yunho’s stayed so quiet you don’t know what to think. When you glance at him, your chest aches. He’s watching you carefully, and you can see the nervous energy in him, the way his hands fidget and clench.
“Yunho,” You manage.
“You know how I feel,” He says, “by now… I know you know,”
“No,” You can’t accept it and you shake your head, “tell me for real.”
Yunho drags a hand over his face and back through his hair, and then finally he meets your eyes again, “I’m,” his voice wavers slightly, “sweetheart, I’m still so in love with you.”
“Still?” You hitch on the word.
“It’s been a long time for me too,” He nods.
You take in their words, stepping back, pacing a little as you process. You don’t really know where you’re going, you just need to move, to take some of the pressure of their eyes off, and you take deep breaths as you do. You can feel their tension, their fear that you’ll bolt again but strangely this time you don’t need to run. You just need a minute.
“And yesterday,” You slow to a stop from your position behind their couch, “this isn’t some… reaction to what Minseok did, it’s not,”
“When I wrote you that letter,” Mingi interrupts your anxieties, “we hadn’t seen each other in weeks. I could have told you I loved you then, this has nothing to do with him. This has to do with us, the three of us.”
Your mind flicks back to your confession to Wooyoung months ago, the way he held you as you cried buckets of tears over them. The sickening realization that your heat with them did mean something, and you had been fighting your own heart ever since. You want to love them now so badly it tugs at your insides, flooding your eyes again with tears.
“Don’t cry,” Yunho’s on his feet the minute he sees your eyes clouding over, “the last thing we want to do is make you cry after everything,”
“It’s fine,” You manage, hastily wiping tears away before they have chance to really wet your cheeks, “it’s just been a very long two days,”
“We’ll talk about this later,” Yunho reaches for you, “come here,”
You take a step back from him and shake your head, swallowing back your emotions and trying to figure out how in the world you’re going to articulate this.
He stops dead, and you watch Mingi’s face fall.
“Our dinner,” You start off, “I had a lot I wanted to say to you both, and after yesterday, I don’t know my head is all twisted up, I’m not going to do this right,”
“Maybe you’re right, we don’t have to do this now,” Mingi shakes his head, and you realize now that he thinks you’re rejecting them, once and for all.
“Mingi, stop,” You cut him off, “I need you to let me get this out,”
He stays silent.
“We’ve been dealing with this for so long,” You start, “there’s been a lot of things said, and I guess unsaid too,”
Yunho nods but keeps any thoughts to himself while you parse through your words.
“I tried for a really long time to move on,” You manage, “and so much has happened but yesterday was,” you shake your head, trying to keep the strain out of your voice and get this out, “you know what it was. But you were both there for me and you took care of me, and I don’t have the words to thank you for something like that.”
“You don’t,” Yunho starts but you shake your head and hold out a hand to stop his words.
You take a deep breath, and then you take the leap, “I was going to apologize to you. This thing between us… I broke it too. I was angry that night at the studio, and I wish I could take so much of it back. I was hurt, but I said things that I’m so, so sorry for.”
“I was planning on telling you that first,” You continue, “and then I was planning on telling you that while you were gone, I thought about you everyday. I thought about us and what you mean to me, about what I wanted, and I need to tell you first that I lied. That weekend, my heat, it meant more to me than I ever understood. It wasn’t just sex, and I’m sorry I said it, I’m sorry for so much,”
“y/n,” Yunho says softly, but you shake your head.
“I’m,” The words bubble up and lodge right in your throat. It should be easy, you love them. They said it first, it should roll right off your tongue, but it just doesn’t. You take a tight, hard swallow and try again, “I don’t, what I’m trying to say is that,”
“Hey, hey,” Mingi’s close the minute he sees you floundering, cupping your cheeks and hushing your panicked little breaths, “you don’t have to say anything, especially not right now.”
“But,” Your throat feels raw, “but I don’t want,”
“Shh, shh,” He shakes his head, smoothing his thumb across your cheekbone, “slow down, go easy,”
It all feels like it’s opening inside you, the tense knot from yesterday, your feelings for them wrapped up inside it, the way your omega keeps clinging to them as yours. The way you almost lost them. Tears spill over your cheeks again and you choke out a weak cry, “I’m sorry,”
Mingi shifts forwards, scooping you up in his arms to cradle you against his chest just like yesterday, “You have nothing to be sorry for, nothing at all.”
“I want to tell you,” You confess into his shoulder, “I have to tell you,”
“Baby, please,” Mingi soothes, “just take a deep breath,”
“Mingi,” Yunho murmurs low, having moved closer to the two of you, “let’s sit, come here,”
You keep your head pressed against his skin, your body feeling ragged and exhausted, memories from yesterday flooding up and the scent of your alphas making you dizzy, and you think if you cry any more it might make you sick but you just don’t know how to stop.
Mingi moves with you, settling down onto the couch and you can hear Yunho shifting around the room, but you don’t know what he’s doing until a familiar soft blanket wraps around your body.
“Breathe, baby,” Mingi prompts you again, “we’re right here.”
“Yunho?” You blink hard as you lift your head from Mingi’s neck, reaching to search for him.
“Right here,” Yunho is tucked close to you and Mingi, and he takes your hand in his, drawing your eyes to his, “I’m right here with you,”
“I’m sorry,” You stammer, tears finally subsiding just enough, “I d-don’t know what’s wrong,”
It feels so familiar, this moment, like the overloading torrent of emotion that came after your broken heat so many months ago, only this time the sick pit in your stomach is worse. The stakes feel so much higher, and the echo of hands on your hips and teeth at your throat keep flickering through your mind.
“I think you’re having a panic attack,” Yunho squeezes your hand, sliding closer still and brushing his hand over the back of your head, “but it will pass, and we’re not going anywhere,”
“But I need to explain,” Your throat feels like it’s closing.
“You don’t,” Mingi eases you back from his chest so that you’re perched on his lap, and he guides your face up to his so he can meet your eyes, “right now you just need to breathe,”
He’s right, the hysteria working its way through your system will only grow unless you start to get your arms around it. You grip Yunho’s hand tighter and start to try and regulate your breath, letting your eyes slip closed as you focus, the little shuddering starts melting into deeper and steadier inhales and exhales the longer you work at it.
You start to focus on things you can feel in your mind, things you know are real. Mingi’s warm body under yours, the cool metal of Yunho’s ring against your finger, a weighty hand on your right hip, the distant sound of a voice in the apartment next door. You’re home, you’re safe.
When your eyes open they’re not looking at you but looking at each other, worried little creases in their brows as they communicate silently with their eyes.
“Hey,” Your voice is small when you first speak, weak from exhaustion.
“Hey,” Yunho smiles when he sees your eyes open, squeezing your hand again.
“Feeling a little better?” Mingi murmurs, hand stroking your back.
You shrug and wet your lips, “Not really,”
“Then I think we should talk about this another time,” Mingi maintains, “do you want to try and get some more sleep, or,”
You shake your head and press a palm to the center of his chest, “No, I need to say this,”
“It can wait,”
“Not for me,” You insist, “I’ll just keep thinking about it,”
“Alright,” Yunho smooths your hair over your shoulder and keeps a steady palm against your back.
With a deep breath you steady your mind, get your words right, and then finally try again. “I don’t want the first time I tell you I love you to be mixed up in everything that happened yesterday. Everything feels so confusing and overwhelming because of what happened, but I don’t,” Your fingers knot tighter in Mingi’s shirt, “I can’t lose you again, so I just need you to know what I wanted to tell you on Saturday,”
Yunho’s hand stills on your back, and Mingi’s eyes flick down.
Nerves flood you, terrify you to your core, and you flounder again, “I know I should be able to get it together and to say it like you deserve, but I just need a little time, I don’t want to be thinking about him or feeling him when I think about us.”
Yunho shifts forwards, his lips connecting with your forehead softly as he holds you to him, and he lets the warmth of his skin linger on yours. A sharp, wet noise draws your eyes back up and disconnects you and you realize Mingi’s crying, tears tracking down his cheeks and his eyes shining.
“Mingi,” You reach for him, disconnecting Yunho as you cup Mingi’s cheeks, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I just need a little time,”
He shakes his head, bringing his hands up to hold yours, “It’s not that, I swear to god, it’s not that.”
“Then,”
“I could fucking kill him, I really could,” The edge in his voice sends a chill up your back, and you watch as he swallows hard and takes a deep breath to get his own tears under control.
“Hey, come on,” You try again, “I’m fine, look at me,”
“You’re not fine,” Yunho shakes his head, “you just said so,”
Mingi nods, his eyes opening.
“But I don’t want you to be upset,” You smooth the tears away from Mingi’s cheeks.
“I’m not upset because of you,” Mingi turns his face, pressing a kiss to your palm, “I’m upset because someone almost took you from us,”
The air in the room feels thin at the truth of it, and Yunho looks down at his words, his hand tightening on your hip.
Mingi curls his hands around yours and draws them away from his cheeks, entwining your fingers and resting your combined hands on his chest, “He almost took you from yourself,” he says softly, “that’s why I’m upset.”
“He didn’t,” You soothe him, “I’m right here,”
“You don’t have to make us feel better right now,” Yunho shakes his head, finally looking up, “You should feel whatever you want, and if you need time, we can give that to you.”
Mingi nods, “He’s right, I’m angry, but that’s not for you to fix.”
“We don’t need anything right now,” Yunho murmurs, his hand stroking up and down the length of your back slowly, “just tell us if we’re not doing something you need,”
“That’s not fair,” You smile softly, “you went through something too,”
Mingi hums, disconnecting your hands so he can rub any evidence of his tears away before he sighs, “Remember when I told you it was our job to provide for you?”
You remember how those words made you feel then, so safe in a moment of such confusion and emotion. Your shoulders drop, muscles relaxing as you try this time to listen to him, and you nod at his words.
“It’s our job always,” His hands return to yours, “and right now you have to trust us to hear you and do better by you,”
“But I made mistakes too,” You start to interject but he shakes his head.
“Babe,” He sighs, “none of it matters, not anymore.”
You were supposed to do this differently, to tell them your story and how you felt, and get all the things they didn’t know on the table, you were supposed to let them make an informed choice, but your voice just won’t come the way you need it to, “I just don’t want to lose you,”
“You won’t,” Yunho says firmly, “why do you think that’s going to happen?”
“There’s more to tell you,” You confess, “and last time I should have been honest, but I wasn’t and look where that got us,”
“I don’t think there’s anything you could tell me now that would make me not love you,” Yunho says, smoothing his thumb over your cheekbone, “and we’re being honest now, that’s enough for me.”
“How do you know that?” You scrub away tears that threaten to fall.
“Because I missed you everyday,” He says simply, “and because I didn’t feel home again until I saw you at the party, and yesterday when I thought you were hurt I couldn’t breathe. I’m not going anywhere this time, all I want is us. All three of us.”
“Me too,” Mingi clears his throat to get rid of the resurgence of emotion, “it feels right when it’s us, I’m not willing to lose that.”
Your shoulders drop, all the tension you’ve been carrying for months falling away. They love you, they want you, even still. You collapse against them, pulling them both tight to you and resting on their touching shoulders. “Are you sure you can wait?” You whisper into Mingi’s sleeve.
“Yes,” Yunho reiterates, “of course we can,”
You nod against them, letting their arms fold around you and keep you tucked close.
Mingi strokes your hair, his wide palm cradling the back of your head when he asks, “Does it bother you if we say it? If we tell you how we feel? Or should we give you some time?”
“You can always tell me,” You can’t go backwards now, “I’m done not telling each other things,”
Mingi presses his lips to your head, “Then I really fucking love you,” he murmurs soft in your ear, “and I don’t know what we’re doing, but as long as we’re together we’re going to be okay.”
Tears well in your eyes, the truth of is words cocooning around you, “I believe you,”
The day takes time to pass, and short of Mingi fixing you something to eat for dinner, you all spend it cuddled close on the couch together. Movies play on the television, fingers card softly through your hair, and no one talks anymore about what happened or what it all means.
Your original plan on Saturday would have been so much easier than this, you wouldn’t feel flayed open and raw and terrified to close your eyes or step into a room where you can’t see them in your eyeline, but you won’t lie and say you aren’t still grateful to be here and in their arms. You’re so sick of taking the hard road to get to them, but maybe together it can be different.
Later, at night and in bed again, you sink into that feeling of gratitude. You missed this, the feeling of them next to you, the weight of their hands and the warmth of their chests. Any fear or hesitation you might have felt about your future with these two alphas is dissipating with every passing minute. They made mistakes and so did you, but when things got hard, really and truly hard, they’ve been everything.
From your position curled against Mingi, you stretch and press a warm kiss to his neck, taking a comforting inhale of his rich scent, letting it work through your body and keep you warm. He sighs pleasantly at the feeling, and you wriggle up in their combined hold until you can find Mingi’s lips.
He’s hesitant at first, letting you set the pace this time. His mouth is comfortingly familiar and you ease into each other, sharing a quiet breath and nuzzling his nose between gentle close lipped kisses. He sighs against you, his hand tightening on your side, and you flash back in your mind to the last kiss with him in the studio room.
Flickers of the studio make your pulse quicken and your palms clammy, and you break your lips away from Mingi for a second of fresh air and to stop the sudden nerves sparking up the back of your brain.
Twisting in their arms you turn to face Yunho, keeping Mingi still close at your back while you find Yunho’s cheek and tug him down to your mouth. He makes a soft, surprised noise, and you realize that you’ve never kissed him outside of your heat before. He’s so warm, so instantly responsive to your touch and you pull him a little closer still, letting your legs tangle together under the sheet.
“Baby,” He whispers, fingers running over your hip and down your thigh.
Your lips part, his tongue catching on yours as it dips into your mouth, deepening the kiss and your heart picks up again. You shift your hand, fingers catching under the edge of his t-shirt, just a little more skin on precious skin. Mingi’s hand drops from your hip to your stomach as he edges closer behind you, his wide palm stretching across the expanse of your belly. You shiver, a breathy sound from your lips you can’t catch.
Yunho hums softly, pleasantly, kissing along your jaw the way he knows you love.
You let your eyes slip closed, the sensation of them filling every space around you.
Yunho kisses to the hollow of your ear and then travels lower, shifting to press his lips over the smooth column of your throat, but you feel the tense knot form again in the pit of your stomach. You feel hands on your hips where they shouldn’t be, you see a snapshot of your face in the practice room mirror, the ghost of a tug of your hair.
At the first soft touch of Yunho’s tongue against your tender gland you jerk back and shake your head, eyes fluttering open, “I can’t, I’m sorry I can’t,”
He pulls away immediately, hands off you as you press back into Mingi’s chest, “That’s okay,”
Mingi wraps his arms around you to soothe you, “Your heart’s racing,” he murmurs, “babe, you’re safe, you’re with us,”
“I know,” You nod, taking a deep steadying breath.
Yunho cups your cheek, “I didn’t mean to scare you,”
“It’s not you,” You assure him, “I just think I need some time before we do anything again,”
He nods, “Anything you want,”
“I just,” You try to explain, “for a second I thought I was back in the studio,”
“You’re not,” Mingi reminds you, “and you don’t ever even have to go back in that room if you don’t want to,”
“That’s not very practical,” You smile, kissing his forearm where his arm crosses over your chest as your racing pulse starts to slow.
“I’m being serious,” He says.
“I know you are,” You nod, “but I’m alright, I just think I need a few days away.”
“That’s a good idea,” Yunho eases closer now that he can sense your heightened spike of panic is calming, “I’ll join you.”
“Same,” Mingi rests his head on yours.
“You don’t have to skip work for me,”
“Honestly,” Yunho says, “it would make me feel better to stay with you, I’d be useless at the studio right now,”
Mingi nods in quiet agreement.
“Can I be honest?” You murmur in the dark.
“Always,” Yunho nods.
You find Yunho’s hand to hold and confess a little more to them, “I want you to stay, I feel like you’re both the only thing keeping me present right now, I keep worrying that I’ll slip back there,”
Mingi shifts behind you so he can properly see your face in the deep blue light, “Into headspace?”
You nod, the echo of it in your mind, “It was so awful,”
“I don’t think that can happen,” Mingi shakes his head, “you can’t just fall into it without someone putting you there.”
You remember the distinct way you felt pulled under, the sudden tug downwards and the way you felt so insulated and trapped inside your own mind. You swallow hard and meet his eyes, “I’ve heard of it happening, omegas getting stuck, I don’t want to feel that ever again, I can’t feel that ever again,”
“Hey, hey,” Yunho presses his hand over your heart and strokes your gland softly with the pad of his thumb, “that’s not going to happen,”
“He’s right,” Mingi kisses your forehead softly, “stories like that are rare, those omegas went through years of abuse and that’s awful, but it’s not you. No one is ever, ever, getting the chance to do that to you again.”
“No one,” Yunho reiterates, still soothing your sore gland, “not us, not anyone.”
“I just,” You sigh, “I keep feeling it when I close my eyes,”
Yunho reaches out and brushes back your hair, his fingers smoothing against your temple, “Is that what your nightmare was about?”
You nod.
“You were there again?” He clarifies.
“Yeah,”
“What was it like?” Mingi murmurs his question, keeping it soft. Not a demand or a need, but an opening. Yunho’s eyes flick away from yours to his, but he waits to see if you’ll answer.
Your mouth feels a little dry and you wet your lips as you think about how to describe it. You let their hands tether you as your eyes slip closed, “You know that feeling when your ears are full of water? The way everything sounds like you’re hearing it through a wall?”
“Mhm,” Mingi murmurs.
“It’s like that,” You explain, “like I was at the bottom of a lake or a pool and I knew something was happening around me, but I couldn’t tell what.”
“Do you remember anything?” Yunho asks.
You shake your head, “Yes and no,” but you can see it in your minds eye, “I remember you both looked so scared and I remember wanting to ask you what was wrong, but I couldn’t,”
They’re quiet now, only the thready sounds of their breath and yours as they listen.
“He told me not to move,” You explain, “and to keep my mouth shut,”
Mingi’s hand finds yours in the dark.
“He said, ‘don’t move an inch’,” You feel Minseok’s words against your throat, the final push that sent you over the edge, “and I couldn’t, even when you were there and not him,”
His thumb brushes over the back of your hand.
“I remember you telling me to come up,” You continue, “I’ve never heard you sound like that before,”
“You’ll never hear me sound like that again,” He says, his voice tight, “I just didn’t know what else to do,”
“It worked,” You let your eyes open again, “that’s all that matters.”
“Maybe,” He murmurs, and even though he doesn’t say more you can tell that he’s still a little shaken about using his own alpha tone on you at that moment.
Yunho shifts in the covers, “Jagiya,” he says, “I think you should talk to someone about this,”
“I’ll be alright,” You shake your head, “it’s just fresh and I need more sleep,”
“Just think about it,” he says, “you can always talk to us, always, but we’re not professionals,”
He’s not wrong, but the idea of opening up more than you already have makes something twist a little in your gut. You nod anyways, “I’ll think about it,”
They stay quiet for a little while, and you take a minute to come back to your senses completely after letting the idea and the feeling of headspace occupy your mind for even just a few minutes. When you do, you realize that while Mingi is still cuddled up to your back, there’s at least a foot of space between you and Yunho, despite the way his long arms afford him the ability to still stroke your hair from this angle.
“Come back over here,” You say suddenly, tugging on his t-shirt.
“You sure?” He checks as he eases across the mattress.
“Mhm,” You nod, letting his arms settle around you too.
Confessions bubble up in your chest, the sudden need to keep being honest flooding you.
In the dark, things are always easier.
“I need to tell you something,” You murmur into Yunho’s shoulder.
“Anything,” Mingi says quickly, his body still behind yours.
You say it as plainly as you can, “My last heat was more complicated than I told you before,”
“Okay,” Yunho murmurs, his voice a little hesitant as he waits for you to say more.
“I called Seonghwa, but he was with Wooyoung at the time,” You explain, “and Woo has a whole little heat sanctuary at his apartment, so I spent my heat there with them,”
“Is that what you’ve been so scared to tell us?” Mingi murmurs, his breath tickling your cheek.
“San came to find his friends because they weren’t answering their phones,” You just have to get it all out, “but he stayed, I asked him to stay too.”
“Oh,” Yunho trails off for a moment and Mingi’s steady breath stops.
You brace yourself for the worst of it, your eyes closing tight, but then Yunho says, “San and Seonghwa usually spend Wooyoung’s heats together, right?”
“Yeah,” Your eyes open again in the darkness.
“And they took care of you okay?” He asks.
“They did,”
“And you…” Yunho struggles to find the right words, “you wanted everything? They didn’t push you or,”
“No,” You assure him, “it was all my choice,”
“Okay,”
“You’re not angry?” You expected more of a fight, especially after how betrayed they looked after Seonghwa.
Mingi sighs and you feel his head shake against yours, “You’re here with us now,” he says, “and you said it back then, we weren’t dating, no one cheated,”
“Oh,” Your tight fists unfurl.
“y/n,” Mingi cups your hip and shifts behind you, “I think I already know the answer, but I’ve been wrong about what’s been going on for months, so can I ask you something?”
“Anything,” You repeat his words back to him.
“Was it just heat? Or do you want them too?”
“Just heat,” You assure him immediately, finding his hand and interlocking  your fingers, “I promise you, it was just heat.”
“Okay,” He nods.
“Honestly,” You add quietly, “I don’t think I let myself understand what being with you both had meant until I experienced something different. I’ve never felt the way I felt with you both, before or after,”
Mingi nods again, and Yunho’s lips connect gently with your forehead.
“I understand if this is too much,” You start to say, but Yunho pulls back with a sharp intake of breath.
“No, y/n,” he cups your cheek, “it was hard to see things clearly in the moment that day, we were worried about you and I’ll admit I was jealous too, but you didn’t do anything wrong and we handled it more than poorly,”
“You’re friends with them,” You point out softly, still waiting for the moment they let your words sink in.
“So are you,” Mingi says easily.
Yunho runs his hand along your arm, “If you wanted to be with someone else, would you be here?”
“No,” You answer immediately.
“That’s enough for me,”
“Me too,” Mingi adds, “I just want to move forward,”
“Exactly,” Yunho finds your clasped hands in the dark and holds them both.
“Hearing you say you and Hwa aren’t together,” Mingi presses a kiss to your bare shoulder, “I’ve never been so happy to be wrong about something, this changes nothing, babe,”
Your body unknots in their hands, “Okay,”
“Is that everything you wanted to tell us?” Yunho squeezes you softly.
“That’s everything,”
The room feels lighter with nothing between you.
“Well,” Yunho shifts closer and presses another kiss to your forehead, “I love you,”
Mingi’s nuzzles another kiss  to your shoulder, “I love you too,”
Relief spreads through your body, and you tug them closer until you’re sandwiched perfectly between them once again. The weight sitting on your chest is suddenly gone.
There’s nothing more to say tonight, nothing more to do, but held between them with your legs all tangled together under the sheet you feel safe. You’re tired, exhausted even, but for a little while you can’t close your eyes. You listen to the way their breath evens out as they drop into sleep, gentle, rhythmic sighs as their bodies relax into yours. You listen to the city outside, the hum of the forced air unit, the distant click of a door shutting in the adjacent apartment. You focus on all the things you can feel, all the things you can hear. They way you’re here, present in your body.
Yunho shifts, rolling away just enough that you dip forwards with him and you end up against his chest. His heart thumps low and slow against your cheek. Mingi makes a soft sound at being disturbed, his body attaching back onto you like a magnet as he reaches over and hitches up his leg, cuddling you both.
You didn’t know it was possible to miss a person this much, let alone two.
Your throat tightens up, a feeling deep in your chest and you press your eyes closed. You whisper soft against their skin, practicing the words on your lips, “I love you,”
In the dark, you make them this little promise.

"Baby! Yeo!" You squeal when you see Yunho lined up with Yeosang amongst the crowd of graduates waiting to pile their way in to the field where the ceremony would be taking place. He waves, tall and proud in his cap and gown, blushing from ear to ear when you rush over for a quick hug.
"Pretty girl." He mumbles against your head before kissing you on the temple. "Go get your seat before it fills up." His hands are on your waist as he looks down at you, brushing the hair away from your face.
"I know, but I just had to see you really quickly." You point to your friends behind you, all holding up cardboard cut outs of Yunho and Yeosang's faces. "Look! We came prepared!" They laugh.
"I'm glad you picked a nice photo of me at least."
"Oh, we have both cute and funny faces, don't worry." Yeosang rolls his eyes before giving off another chuckle. You slip a water bottle filled halfway with tequila in Yunho's hand, making Yeosang give off a loud laugh when he realizes what you're giving them.
"Babe." Yunho says almost in a scolding manner that makes you giggle.
"You've got a whole 3-4 hours or so of a graduation ceremony, love! What else are you gonna do?!"
"She's right, what are we gonna do?"
"Oh my— go, babe. We're gonna head in soon." You laugh and give him a quick peck on the lips before squeezing his hand.
"Okay, okay. I love you. Enjoy!"
"I love you, too." You wave once more before running off to your friends and heading out onto the lawn. It's a beautiful day out, and the sun is already shining even though it's still early in the morning. You, your friends, your mom and sister, and Yunho's mom and aunt eventually find ways to each other and take place in some seats right by the stage and underneath the shade.
As expected, the ceremony kicks off and it's a long one. The President of the school speaks before other distinguished professors and a special guest speaker take over the mic. Yunho and Yeosang surprisingly do take a few swigs from the water bottle mid-speech, catching other graduates doing the same to keep themselves alive and on the same high they started with this morning. Once they start handing out diplomas to the graduates by school/department, it tacks on another hour or so before they're finally reaching the Computer Science department.
"Oh shit, finally!" Soobin says, fixing his position in his seat and getting his phone ready.
"Are they even going in alphabetical order?" Seungmin stands, stepping aside to make sure he isn't blocking the view.
"Nope. They're going by row, I think." Chaery stands before pointing and grabbing you by the arm. "Wait, wait! Yunho and Yeo are standing now!" You stand and let your family and his family know that it might be time to head closer towards the stage. The entire group makes their way towards the side of the stage that is blocked off solely for family and loved ones to snap photos of their graduates. You sneak your way past a few people, bringing everyone closer in an area where Yunho and Yeosang could see the group clearly as they walk across the stage and off.
The first to walk across the stage is Yeosang; his family roars next to you while you all hold up his boards. You snap a few photos of him just as he walks off and quickly flashes his diploma before waving one last goodbye to get to his seat. At this point, Yunho takes a step onto the stage, waiting for his name to be called. You feel the tears welling in your eyes when you find that Yunho isn't looking at anyone but you.
"I love you." He mouths out and subtly taps his chest just as they call his name.
"I love you, too." You mouth back before snapping his photos— catching that sparkle in his eye, that beautiful smile on his face. That's your man and you love him so, so much.
"Jeong Yunho!" Chaery yells as you all put up the blown up boards of his face. You all cheer and scream for him as he finally crosses the stage and grabs his diploma, doing a little celebratory dance as he steps down and passes everyone for final photos. Yunho quickly grabs your hand and presses a light kiss to the surface before running off to his seat. "I swear to God, you two are the sweetest." Chaery pokes out her bottom lip before throwing her arm around your shoulder. "That man loves you and adores you to bits, Y/N."
"And I do, too." She squeezes you as you all make your way back to your seats to endure the rest of the graduates getting their diplomas.
"Do you guys have any plans for Yunho and Yeosang tonight?" Your mom leans over to ask and you shake your head.
"No, they didn't wanna do anything besides the lunch thingy we're all going to."
"Oh, really? Not even a party?" You shake your head.
"Nope. I promise you, we tried." Your mom chuckles and nods.
As the rest of the ceremony finally comes to an end, caps are being tossed in the air from all directions while the graduates celebrate in unison one last time. You hurriedly run to the nearest bathroom because your body decides this would be the best time to do so. Luckily, there isn't much of a line or anything so you're able to slip in and out after relieving yourself. But once you head back to the lawn, you find yourself completely lost in a sea full of graduates, their families and loved ones. When you tippy-toe to try and find Yunho, you surprisingly can't find a glimpse of him and it makes you a bit anxious.
"Oops, sorry—"
"Sorry—" You look up. "Seonghwa." You bump into him as you continue to try and navigate your way through the crowd to find Yunho and Yeosang, with Seonghwa also trying to find his family in the sea of people.
"Oh, hey." He looks down at you.
"Congratulations."
"Thank you." He says with a small smile.
"I really do wish you the best." He looks at you before looking down at his feet and nodding.
"I appreciate that, Y/N. I hope senior year treats you well." You give him a toothless smile before you finally spot Yunho over his shoulder. Seonghwa watches as your smile grows, hearing the small squeals leave your lips when you finally spot Yunho with your friends and family.
"Thanks. Good luck!" You bid Seonghwa farewell once and for all before running over to your boyfriend. Of course, Seonghwa keeps his eyes trained on you two for a bit while you swing your arms around Yunho's neck and kiss him so sweetly, so lovingly. Yunho looks down at you like the entire world is handed to him on a gold platter, like you hold the galaxies in your eyes, like every inch of you has been crafted by the stars.
You are everything to him, and it's clear even for someone like Seonghwa— who isn't sure how to give love, yet is very open to receiving it.  He could've had that, if he wasn't so dumb. You really did believe in him at one point, but he didn't do anything with it. He didn't choose you.
But truthfully, in the end, he's happy you're happy. Even though it took him awhile to fully understand that. He knew he couldn't fully give you what you wanted, and he knows Yunho is way better than he'll ever be. You deserve that, and Seonghwa knows he should've tried harder when he had you. Not after.
Life's a bunch of learning lessons, and he truly gets that now.
"Congrats, baby!" You giggle when Yunho presses repeated kisses against your face, holding you against him.
"Hey! Turn to the camera!" Your mom yells from behind you. "Let me snap some photos of you and the handsome graduate! Hurry! Food's waiting!" Your mom playfully scolds you before snapping a bunch of photos. Everyone is taking their time snapping photos of you and Yunho, you and your friends with Yunho and Yeosang, and it takes a good bit before everyone is satisfied enough to leave.
Yeosang's family joins everyone for a celebratory meal at the bbq restaurant in the city. It's a late celebratory lunch being that it's a bit past noon, but everyone is happy and still in good spirits despite the long ceremony and warmer weather. It's nice to see everyone you love under one roof, with Yunho and Yeosang rightfully being celebrated for all their hardwork. While your mom and sister sit alongside of Yunho's mom and aunt, your dad calls mid-dinner to congratulate Yunho over Facetime and apologizes for missing the ceremony due to a business trip. Yunho eventually ends up agreeing to a random fishing date with your dad in the coming weeks, making you laugh how cutely [and quickly] he agreed.
"Babe." You look up at him sweetly as everyone exits the restaurant, your hand loosely intertwined with his.
"When you say my name like that, you're always up to no good." You playfully smack him with a gasp.
"Oh my god, not even!" You giggle. "I just wanted to know if you're happy."
"Of course I am."
"Do you wanna do anything else to celebrate?"
"Nah." He shakes his head and boops your nose. "Just wanna spend time with you. Besides, I told you I'd take you somewhere this summer, remember? That'll be a way to celebrate."
"I feel like I wanna do more for you."
"You do a lot for me already. I promise." He squeezes your hand.
"I'm gonna be honest, and it's probably gonna sound lame, but a nap sounds really nice right now." Yeosang says. "We got up way too early for graduation." You laugh.
"Why don't we nap and head to the beach tonight for a chill bonfire?" Soobin suggests with a shrug. "So we can celebrate but also not do too much?"
"That actually sounds amazing." Chaery looks at with a surprised expression. "Way to go, Choi!" She punches him on the arm, earning a small groan in response.
"Yeah, I'm down for that."
"I'll drive us and see if the others wanna come along?" Yeosang and Yunho nod.
"Yay!" You clap before bidding farewell to your mom, sister, Yunho's mom and his aunt.
As expected, everyone heads their separate ways and gets ready to relax for the early afternoon. Chaery and Seungmin head off to the grocery store to grab a few drinks and snacks for tonight, and some ice for the cooler. After taking a quick shower, you head back to Yunho's— already finding Yeosang's door shut close, while Yunho is also in bed with an arm lazily draped over his face. As you quietly shut the door behind you and walk towards his bed, you hear Yunho's small snores a little clearer. You giggle to yourself as you carefully climb over and take your place on the empty side of the bed, but Yunho is quick to shift in his own position and throw an arm around you as soon as he feels the bed dip. His hand gently squeezes at your side just as he presses up against your back, letting out a soft sigh against the back of your head.
"Sorry baby." He sleepily says. "Tried waiting but I got sleepy."
"That's okay, Yuyu. Go back to sleep." He presses a light kiss to your head before snuggling closer to you. Within a few minutes, you feel your lids getting heavier, breathing more regulated. It's not long before you fall into a deep sleep with Yunho cuddled behind you; also meeting you in your dreams.
Eventually, your slumber comes to an end when you feel Yunho pressing light kisses to your jaw, cheek, neck and head. You giggle as your eyes flutter open, giving your body a tiny, but good stretch in Yunho's arms.
"Awake already?"
"Mm, we slept for like 3 hours." He laughs. "We should eat before we head to the beach."
"What do you wanna eat? I'm too content here." You chuckle.
"I could name a few things." Yunho smirks before gently nibbling on your earlobe and giving your thigh a squeeze.
"You go to sleep for 3 hours and wake up like this?!" You snort.
"Baby." He whines, so you turn to look at him.
"And here I thought you really wanted to eat."
"I do! I'm just in the mood for a variety of things."
"Oh?" You let out a loud squeal when Yunho comes for your neck and starts attacking you with more kisses.
"Oy! I can hear you two from out here!" Chaery says from outside the door, causing the both of you to pause and look towards the door.
"When did she get here?" You ask. Yunho snorts as he continues to play around, hand teasing at the edge of your panties. "Yunho!"
"What?" He nips at your neck.
"You lovebirds awake or what? We brought some food over." Seungmin asks right by the door. You can hear both him and Chaery mumbling from behind— something along the lines of:
Should we just knock?
Should we go in?
You think they're still sleeping after hearing her earlier?
What if they're indecent and in compromised positions?
Dude, just tell them the food is outside, they'll come when they're ready.
You laugh to yourself amidst Yunho's kisses, internally shaking your head at your roommates for almost acting on their thoughts. You return your attention back to your boyfriend, who is looking at you adoringly even as his fingers continue to trace the material of your panties.
"Food is outside when you two are done!" Seungmin says, followed by an 'ow' afterwards.
"Yunho, what are you up to?"
"I'll be quick." He laughs. "Just wanna please you."
"Everyone is outside!"
"You can be quiet though, right?" He lowers himself under the blankets, taking his position in between your thighs. You bite onto your bottom lip, feeling Yunho tug your panties down before slipping in two digits. You let out a quiet, breathy moan, twitching when you suddenly feel him latch onto your clit— tongue working magic around your core.
"Oh shit—" Your moan gets louder and Yunho gives your thigh a squeeze to warn you. You feel the pleasure quickly building in your gut, slowly working your hips against his mouth; hands gripping his hair with good pressure. You feel him pick up the pace, pumping into you faster before he focuses on your clit alone, letting you grind your hips against him. He groans against you, pressing his hips deeper into the mattress to feel some kind of friction, to relieve himself in any way possible.  "Yunho, fuck—" Sooner or later, your orgasm washes over you and completely takes over your senses. You tremble against him, back arching off of the mattress as the aftershocks trickle through you. "Jesus, babe."
"Mhm, but you feel good, don't you?" He pokes out of the covers, laughing with rose-tinted cheeks.
"What about you?"
"I'm good." He leans in to kiss you. "That's all I needed."
"You're crazy."
"I love you, too." He kisses you again. "Ready to actually eat?"
"Shouldn't I be asking you that?" You laugh, letting Yunho get up and fix himself first. You throw on some sweats, also following suit to make sure you look decent enough for your friends.
"Wow, finally." Chaery says when she sees Yunho ski-daddle to the bathroom with a quick wave, you plopping yourself down onto the living room floor next to her. "You good?" She teases, nudging you in the arm.
"Mm, thanks for bring the food."
"Course."
"Who else is tagging along?"
"Hyunjin. Yeonjun. Jongho. Minnie. Someone else, I forgot though." Soobin says. "They're riding with Jongho."
"I'm surprised they're still around. Usually, they're all quick to dip as soon as finals are over." Chaery adds. "Eat up, replenish your stamina." She hands Yunho a plate when he plops onto the floor next to you.
"Thank you." He flashes her a bright, playful smile. "Did you guys get everything for tonight?"
"Mhm!"
"You should've told us. We could've chipped in." Yeosang nods in agreement.
"Um, this is for you guys. Why on earth would I do that?" She laughs. "No, absolutely not. I just want you guys to have fun and enjoy tonight."
"Thank you." Yeosang repeats with a small smile. Everyone finishes up eating in the living room before Yeosang and Soobin are hauling the cooler into his car for tonight's festivities. As soon as the sun sets, the group piles into the car, squeezing into the back to fit [as safely as possible]. The beach Soobin picks isn't the usual, popular beach that everyone tends to go to. He decides it's best to go to the smaller one that's tucked off to the side so it isn't bombarded with people on a beautiful night like tonight. It takes a quick 10-min drive down the highway, along with tackling a curvy, winding road before Soobin is driving down a small, quiet residential area and pulling up at a dead-end.
"Jongho and them are here already." He says, pulling up behind their car along the side of the street near the dead-end sign. Everyone hops out and grabs what they can to haul it over to the beach, having to walk down the path in order to reach the sand. Jongho and the rest of the group already have a huge fire going, chairs situated around the fire with a few snacks and the bluetooth speakers softly playing music laying around.
"Finally!" Jongho says with his arms wide open. "Congrats Yunho and Yeo!"
"Thanks, my guy!" Yunho responds with a laugh, greeting your friends with a hug and thanking them for hanging out to celebrate. Everyone gets started with rounds of shots before dancing around in the sand and splashing in the water. Yunho's happily singing along to the songs even as you two walk into the water and try to playfully splash each other. At once, he carries you and attempts to throw you into the water, laughing away as you chase him and scold him for even trying.
When you finally settle back onto the chair and start roasting some marshmallows for smores, Yunho plops onto the chair next to you— gently nudging you on the arm before kissing you on the cheek.
"Making some smores?" You giggle and nod.
"Want one?"
"Sure." You throw a marshmallow onto another stick, keeping it near the fire. While waiting for it to be perfectly roasted, you look up and admire the stars strung across the velvety sky.
The moon.
"Yunho."
"Yeah?"
"It's a full moon." He looks at you with a small smile before kissing you on the temple, helping you arrange his smores on a plate.
"It is, and I want you to remember this one and the next ones to come."
"Why?"
"Just cause." He gives you a small smile, happy to have made the moon something you two could share, something that will always serve as a reminder of the love you two hold for each other. "It's our thing, isn't it?"
"Yeah, it is our thing." You giggle, resting your head on his shoulders while you continue to watch your friends fool around on the sand and enjoy themselves under the clear, night sky. "I'm proud of you, you know that right? Incredibly proud of you."
"I know."
"I'll be the support you every step of the way."
"Thank you, love. And I'll be here, too. I'm here."
♣︎ SUMMER
You splashed in the clearest, bluest waters you've ever seen, Yunho coming behind you and wrapping his arms around your waist. You give off a tiny scream when he surprises you from behind, lifting you and dropping you back into the water.
"Jeong Yunho!" You laugh mid-scold, wiping the water from your face.
"I like it when you say my name." He smirks, followed by a deep laugh. "Sorry, baby. I had to."
"You're lucky I like you." He smiles, hands resting on your waist to pull you close.
"That's a shame, I thought you loved me, too." He teases while you wrap your arms around his neck.
"You're lucky I love you."
"Ah, that's better." He licks his lips, water droplets slowly falling down his face from his wet hair. "Mind if I kiss you, pretty girl?"
"Not at all." You bite onto your bottom lip before Yunho leans forward for a kiss, holding it for as long as he possibly can before he's pulling back. He presses one, two, three repeated kisses before giving your hips a squeeze.
"Wanna head back to the room?"
"Yeah, actually. I'm kinda pooped from splashing in the water all day."
"Same." He laces his fingers with yours as you both walk out of the water and back towards the resort.
"What do you want for dinner tonight?"
"Um, I don't know. Let me figure that out. You just relax." He gives you a small smile. The sand feels warm but soft beneath your feet, and the sun is still shining even though it's getting ready to set soon. Thankfully, it isn't nearly as bright and hot as it was earlier in the day anymore. You grab your things from the beach chair, washing off your feet under the water spout before slipping back into your slippers and following the trail back into the resort.
When you step back into the room, Yunho is quick to start a hot shower for you, claiming he'll take care of dinner. So, you hop in and take your time underneath the hot water; letting it ease the slight soreness that came from swimming and playing in the water most of the day. Yunho makes a quick trip down the street to pick up some food, laying everything out on the balcony table so that you two could enjoy it during a peaceful night.
"Aw, babe! When did you go out and grab this?" You say as you walk out to the balcony in your cute grey shorts and matching hoodie.
"When you were swimming in the shower." You laugh and playfully punch him on the bicep.
"I did not take that long. But, thank you." You tippytoe to give him a peck.
"Let me take a quick shower. I'll be out soon." He tips your chin upwards before smiling down at you.
"Okay." You settle onto the balcony chair and scroll through your phone, texting your friends while you patiently wait for Yunho to shower and get comfy for dinner. You look out at the view, admiring the way the moonlight shines down onto the surface of the water, illuminating everything near its path. It's quiet with the occasional sound of waves crashing against the sand, the occasional chatter of other families passing by to get to their rooms. It's peaceful, but it feels extra special being away from home with Yunho.
When it hits close to 20 minutes, Yunho's finally joining you in the balcony, running a hand through his damp hair as he sits in the chair next to you. The both of you begin to dig in and talk about your day, planning what else you should do tomorrow and the following day before you're having to leave and head back home. Of course, in typical Yunho fashion, he jokes around and plays around mid-meal, just wanting to hear you laugh and giggle next to him. When you both feel satisfied, he sits back and takes his turn to admire the view, his hand laced with yours as he presses kisses onto the surface.
"Baby." He says softly, his thumb caressing the surface of your hand.
"Hm?"
"Do you see the full moon?" He points upwards.
"I do." You smile at him, remembering the days when you used to walk with Yunho and look at the moon.
"Can you do me a favor then?"
"Of course."
"Keep your eyes on it for me, please?"
"What're you up to, Jeong Yunho?" You giggle, doing as asked by keeping your gaze on the full moon ahead. You don't even see Yunho move, nor do you hear him fiddle around, but you are stuck on the moon nonetheless. It's beautiful, it's bright, it's dreamy.
"Nothing." He laughs. "Tell me what you see, love."
"Yunho, I—" You turn to look at him, but before you can even say, do, anything, your eyes immediately shift to the center of the table, causing you to pause mid-sentence.
On the table is an opened small, black box with a ring inside. A simple, but beautifully chic rose gold ring that blended seamlessly into an infinity-shape near the center, a small heart-shaped diamond sitting in the middle cushioned in between smaller diamonds. It's beautiful, it's bright, it's dreamy.
"Y-Yunho." You say his name softly. Your heart is beating out of your chest because although you'd love to do this with Yunho, you aren't sure if you're entirely ready. But luckily for you, Yunho knows you well.
Very well.
And he understands. He knows the feeling all too well, too.
"I— it's a promise ring. Because as much as I want to say fuck it right now, I know we're both waiting until we're absolutely ready to build a life together. I just want you to know that I'm yours. No matter what. I'm yours and nothing's gonna change that. I'm here."
"Babe." The tears well up in your eyes as you admire the ring sitting in the box before looking back up at him. He's right, and it's what you love the most about him. He's never one to rush or pressure you into anything, he's the one who thinks logically and rationally. But, he never fails to show you just how much you mean to him, how much this relationship means to him. There was always this cloud above the both of you after that night you two talked about building a life together and doing the crazy shit grownups do. Because even though you truly love Yunho and you know he's the one you wanna be with, you still have a whole year of school ahead of you, more dance competitions ahead of you; plus, whatever else post-grad will bring for you. Yunho is still navigating his own life after graduation and even though he might be in a slightly better place than you right now, you know he's also trying to be there for his mom and aunt more. Things are still unsettled and it wouldn't be the time for you two to think about engagements, marriages, what kind of home you want, kids— even if that's the end goal.
Whatever the combination looked like.
But having Yunho do this, to give you a promise ring that shows you the want, the need, the dedication he has to be there for you every step of the way and vice versa. It means more than anything, and it's all you could've ever asked for. You're happy to know he is yours, just as you are his.
"I love it. Thank you."
"Can I?" He licks his lips, taking the ring from the box in order to slip it on your finger. You simply nod as the tears stream down your cheeks, fingers slightly shaking at the overflowing love and happiness you feel being here, being with Yunho. "Baby, why are you crying?" He chuckles a bit, leaning over to wipe the tears from your cheeks.
"I just.. I don't know. I just love you. Sometimes, it still feels so unreal." He subtly bites onto his bottom lip to prevent himself from smiling even more. But, he thinks you're so cute right now. So pretty, so beautiful. So.. his.
"Come here, love." He gestures to his lap. You silently walk over and straddle his lap, arms lazily wrapped around his neck. He leans in for a kiss, large hands resting on your hips while he indulges in the sweetness of your lips, the way you feel resting on him, your scent.
Everything.
The kiss intensifies quick, and you find yourself slowly grinding on Yunho— feeling how hard he is beneath you. It's a slow grind, one where you drag your clothed core over his length ever so nicely, just to feel every bit of him against you.
"Fuck." He hisses.
"Let's go inside, babe."
"Or.. I can take you right here, right now. Let everyone see what you do to me." He presses a kiss to your jaw. "How you make me feel." He looks up at you just as he presses another kiss to your chin. "Hm, baby? Should I just selfishly keep you to myself?" He hums, hands squeezing your hips a little harder as you continue to slowly rock against him. You let out a soft, whiny moan and it shoots straight down to Yunho's dick. After his 'lil bits of teasing, he knows at the end of the day, he just wants you to himself. No one else.
No one, nothing, in between.
So, he swiftly carries you in one motion, hurrying into the room before slamming the balcony door shut. He drops you onto the bed, immediately latching his lips onto yours in a hungry, heated kiss. He crawls in between your lap as you lay back, Yunho's hands immediately squeezing your inner thighs. He lowers himself just enough to tease your core with his clothed, hardened member. That contact alone sends tingles down your spine, enough for a moan to slip from your lips in between kisses. Yunho doesn't waste any time shedding off your clothes, admiring every inch of your body with trails of kisses, gentle touches.
"Need you." He says in your ear. "Can I have you?" You nod hastily, helping Yunho out of his shirt.
"You have me, Yunho." He pauses and looks at you for a moment, and for the first time ever, you aren't sure what it means. You aren't sure what he's feeling. But, his expression softens, his eyes are holding onto the stars, the moon, the sun, that he sees in your own. Because he has you.
He has you.
He doesn't say anything before locking his lips with yours, the need, want, desire, so evident in every move he makes. He takes a few moments to slip in two digits, just to get a feel for how wet you are. He groans against you when you arch your back upwards, too hungry, too eager, to feel you wrapped around him. He starts to pump himself a few times, spreading your wetness across his length before lining himself up at your entrance.
"Ready for me?" You nod, gasping at him pushing into you until he bottoms out to the hilt. The both of you adjust to the feeling before he begins to work you at a steady pace. But, Yunho keeps himself close to you— skin to skin, hand tightly locked with yours. It's slow and steady, intimate.
Tonight feels so much more different. So much more intense.
So much more special.
Yunho continues to whisper praises against your skin, slightly picking up his pace and making you whimper in response. He finds that he wants to feel more of you, so he sits back onto his knees and holds you flush against him while he gives you control. You start to roll your hips, hands tugging at the ends of his hair when you pick up your pace. The position has you feeling every inch of him inside of you, only wanting more— to be closer, if ever possible.
"Oh, babe—" You mewl and tilt your head back in pleasure. He takes the opportunity to nibble at your neck, tongue swiping across the surface.
"Oh shit, baby." He moans breathily. "Just like that. You're so good to me." He repeats. "So good to me." The grip on your hips gets a little stronger while Yunho guides you. He pushes you to ride him faster, clit rubbing against him so deliciously it pushes you to the edge— right where he needs you to be.
"Oh god— god Yunho." You moan loudly. "I'm gonna cum—"
"That's it. That's my good girl." He coos, holding you against him tightly. "Let me feel you." He feels your walls pulsing against him, squeezing his length tightly in all the right places. He lets out another moan as he adjusts his position and fucks up into you to chase his own high. You wrap your arms around him, whining from the sensitivity until you hear him mumble curses against your neck; groaning when he releases and fills you up. The both of you don't move from your positions for awhile, only indulging in more slow, sweet kisses despite being a sweaty mess.
"I love you so much, Y/N. You literally have no idea how much I adore you." Yunho brushes the hair away from your face. "I can't wait to see what the future holds for the both of us. Cause I'm here. I don't wanna go anywhere if it's not with you." He repeats, kissing you gently.
"I love you too, Yunho. I'm yours." You caress his cheek, taking him in; everything about him. He smiles sweetly at you, carrying you and holding you close while making his way to the bathroom.
"Time for another shower?" You laugh loudly, letting Yunho take care of you for the rest of the night in many ways.
In the end, those literature assignments would always mean something to you two. Those nights when he found you in the parking lot. The random McDonalds trips. The walks underneath the full moon. The single rose. The fight over Seonghwa and those bumps in the road.
Those will always mean something to you two because in the end, no matter the chaos, the background noise, the extra baggage, it all brought you closer together.
In the end, it blessed you with Yunho.
In the end, it blessed you with the greatest love you've ever known.
In the end, it will always be you and Yunho against the world.

Tumblr media
The splinter is stubborn, but so are you. You work at his hand, tongue caught between your lips in concentration, as you try to pull the splinter free. It takes four attempts, but you exclaim victoriously when you finally yank it out, holding the thin sliver of wood up to the light so Yunho and you can glare at it.
He massages the meat of his palm where the splinter had lodged itself, the flesh still stinging even as he squeezes it hard enough to turn the skin white. He’s sure he should disin-
“We should disinfect that,” you offer, holding your own hand out as if he needs you to lead him straight to the first aid kit. He prickles, doesn’t really like being told what to do even if he’s already had the thought himself, but he remembers how he’d treated you earlier and decides to be better. Placing his hand in yours, he follows you to the kitchen and tries to pretend he didn’t think the medkit was in the bathroom.
Apparently, it’s in the pantry on the top shelf and it occurs to him that you must have scouted the place when you got here if you know exactly where it is. You’ve always been so smart and responsible, and he really misses the time where that didn’t annoy him. Of course, now he knows it’s because he finds your intelligence and resourcefulness attractive, but that doesn’t mean it’s not frustrating.
A chorus of, “Good morning!” floods the kitchen as you both enter. You flash the boys a quick smile as you’d already greeted them and continue to the pantry. Yunho sticks around a bit longer, trying not to get roped into the waffle v. pancake debate by saying that he’d happily eat both or either. It’s a copout, he knows, but he simply cannot be caught in between San and Wooyoung or  he’ll lose his mind.
“Why don’t we make just eggs and bacon instead,” Seonghwa offers shortly, already at the end of his rope with the bickering.
Woo and San freeze, staring at each other in a stalemate before they slowly offer up their hands for a shake, deciding to put the debate to rest for now. The inhabitants of the kitchen heave a collective sigh of relief just as you return, first aid kit in hand and sweet smile on your face.
“Have we come to a breakfast decision?” you ask hopefully but tentatively, making your way to where Yunho has settled on a barstool. Seonghwa holds up the bacon and eggs he’d just retrieved from the fridge with a pleased grin, making the tension bleed out of your shoulders and bringing a matching grin to your face.
“I can make my special bacon!”
Yelling follows, as do exclamations of joy and a flurry of movement as everyone rushes to get ingredients out. You don’t make your special bacon often but the boys are obsessed with it, so whenever you offer, they snap to attention. It’s funny how seriously they take their breakfast, but you can’t complain when it means at least one out of your four to five meals a day (you eat like Hobbits) is always delicious.
You’re quick to mix the sriracha, brown sugar, and maple syrup together, Yunho handing you ingredients one by one. You work in tandem to coat and lay out the bacon on the baking sheets, the oven set to preheat by a softly smiling Jongho. It’s a simple recipe and there’s nothing stopping the guys from recreating it, a fact of which you’ve reminded them (multiple times). They claim it wasn’t as good when they tried it themselves and that they were so disappointed, they vowed to never make it without you again. You rolled your eyes at their dramatics but inside, you were happy your special bacon got to stay special.
Tumblr media
“Okay, who’s down for hiking to the waterfall later? I know I am… not. I wanna sleep,” Hongjoong asks, naturally taking charge of the vacation which truly was in need of a leader.
Yunho notices that you’re first to raise your hand, practically bouncing in your seat as you do, and vows to himself that he won’t ruin this for you. He’s been enough of a dick without an apology, and you’ve been so sweet to him this morning, he can at least let you enjoy the hike in peace.
And that’s why he doesn’t raise his hand, even though he does want to go. He thought you’d be happy but you furrow your brows when you notice he’s just sitting there, your arm and your smile falling just a bit as he avoids your gaze. Hongjoong finishes counting and it appears that just him, Joong, and Mingi are sitting out, making him feel a little bad for staying behind as he knows Mingi probably wanted to work on music with Joong while they were all gone. Yunho could always take a nap, stay out of their hair, but... he also could go on the hike.
It’s not like Hongjoong’s headcount is official and binding, he could go just as easily as he could stay. The problem is whether or not he can keep himself in check, because hiking means sweating and sweating means you’ll be all dewy and breathy, and then you’ll probably want to swim in the waterfall and you’ll likely be wearing a bathing suit and then he’ll be able to see so much of you. And-
“Yunho, you sure you don’t want to go?,” Seonghwa offers, unknowingly sapping the last of his resolve.
“Actually, yeah, I will come with,” Yunho responds, mentally shaking off the images still floating around his head.
He can do this. Everything will be fine.
Tumblr media
Everything is not fine. Everything is, in fact, very, very bad.
The group is almost all the way to the waterfall when you trip over a hidden root and fall, scraping your knee and scuffing up your hands in the process. Everyone is quick to rush to you, but Yunho gets there first, having been intentionally walking just ahead of you. He didn’t want you to think he was avoiding you but he also knew he couldn’t last the whole hike with you in front of him. The guilt stabs at him as he examines your broken, dirty skin. If he’d just walked next to you like a normal person, maybe he could have stopped you from falling in the first place.
“Should we go back?” Yeosang asks, concern clear in his tone and in the hands that hover above you, wanting to help but not knowing what to do.
“No! I still want to go to the waterfall, and I packed the first aid kit. You guys should go ahead and I’ll catch up,” you offer, as if they’d ever leave you behind, injured or not.
San voices exactly that, adamantly crossing his arms and continuing to say something that would make Yunho’s blood run cold.
“I’ll carry you the rest of the way, it’s only a few minutes and I want to get some lifting done on this trip anyway. You’d be doing me a favor,” he winks flirtatiously. Yunho bristles, his mouth opening to object before the small, smart part of his brain reminds him this is a good thing. He can’t give away his jealousy, and he definitely can’t offer to carry you himself. Being that close to you just isn’t a good idea right now, and what little of his mind that isn’t clouded by you knows that.
He has to look away as San lifts you into his arms, his throat tightening when he hears you laugh and his jaw clenching when San walks past him and he catches a note of your shampoo. His mind flashes back to last night and what he did in the shower, and the pit in his stomach grows deeper.
He doesn’t want to think about that, can’t think about that, or he’ll want to do it again. That would be the worst thing that could happen to him right now, right when he’s about to strip in front of his best friends.
He stays there, kneeling on the forest floor as the group gathers behind San and starts back on the trail they’d deviated from. He’ll follow in a second, when fear isn’t adding another terrible, awful layer to the guilt he already feels about not being there to keep you safe. He shouldn’t be thinking about you like this, especially not right now when you’re hurt and in the arms of one of his closest friends.
Rising to his feet, he brushes off his dirty knees and takes in a shaky breath when Jongho asks if they should wait, before calling out, “No, I’m coming!” and immediately cringing.
He stays a little bit behind the rest of the way, not far enough to raise questions but with enough distance he doesn’t have to see San making you laugh.
When he breaks into the clearing, San has already set you down on one of the cleaner rocks and you’re rifling through your backpack for the first aid kit. He’s still standing next to you, but he’s wrapped up in a conversation with the rest of the guys, giving Yunho a window.
It’s only right that he helps you, you’d patched him up this morning and he hadn’t even gotten to say thank you.
He makes his way over, crouching down next to you and offering up his hands for you to place items in, making your unpacking go a bit faster and stay a bit neater.
“How bad does it hurt?” He asks tentatively, watching as you triumphantly tear the red bag free from the mess of snacks and spare clothes.
“Not too bad, my knee is the worst but it’s more of a sting.”
Before you can open the bag, Yunho reaches an upturned hand out, “Can I?”
You freeze, looking down at him over your injured knee, wondering why he’s being so nice to you after how he behaved yesterday. You are friends though, so you nod with a smile and try to stretch your leg out in front of you.
The scrape on your knee isn’t as bad as he thought it was, he realizes as he cleans it as gently as he can with the antibacterial wipe, brushing away the dirt and debris to get to the small cut underneath.
“You guys good? We’re gonna get in,” Wooyoung checks, wandering over with his head turned the other way so he doesn’t have to see anything. He’s not the best with injuries, especially when it’s his friends who are hurt, so he’s itching to get away and into the waterfall, knowing Yunho will take perfectly good care of you.
“Yeah, go ahead! This won’t take long,” you assure Woo, smiling softly as he bolts over and immediately jumps into the pool underneath the waterfall. It must be freezing because he howls like a wet cat, rushing to get out before San belly flops onto him. He doesn’t make it, and now San is shouting too, but in maniacal glee as he scoops water onto Wooyoung’s head and swims away before he can catch him.
Yunho watches you watching them, taking in the fondness in your eyes and the near maternal quirk to your smile, as he carefully smooths the antibiotic ointment onto your knee and covers it with a bandaid. You hold many roles in the group - friend, protector, caregiver, menace - and Yunho wonders if there’s room for you to hold one more, or if you’d even want to. He knows he can’t ask, not right now at least, when things are still so weird between you and, even worse, when you’re trapped in a lodge in the forest with seven of your other closest friends.
But he can lift you down from the rock. And help you over to sit on the edge of the natural pool. And make sure none of the guys splash you or try to pull you in or flirt with you too much, San.
Tumblr media
It’s growing late, the sun making its way across the sky to sink below the horizon and the forest coming alive with cicadas. The group decides to call it a day before the sun can fully go down, not wanting to be caught in the woods in the dark.
Yunho helps you back to the cabin, one of his arms around your waist and your body close to his so if you stumble, he can help you. He’s sure you’re confused, sure you don’t understand why he was so off with you yesterday and why he’s so on with you now, but he doubts you’ll ask. Your primary objective is almost always keeping the peace (or winning), so you probably won’t want to risk starting anything by making him explain himself.
He’s thankful for it, knowing that he doesn’t want to lie to your face but that he also can’t tell the truth. It’s a delicate balance, one that’s already exhausting him, and he breathes a sigh of relief when the lodge comes into view. The guys all race inside, knowing they’ll need to fight for the hot water, but you and Yunho trail behind. You’re walking pretty slowly with your knee and while Yunho doesn’t want to rush you, he’s also starving and in need of a shower. If things were normal, he’d just carry you the rest of the way.
But things are far from normal, so he continues on the path with you and tries to tell himself a cold shower will be just as good.
Tumblr media
After a long, draining day at the waterfall, everyone decides a movie night is in order. This, of course, includes hauling all the bedding from upstairs to build a blanket fort, everyone pitching in to make it much larger than it needs to be. Snacks are brought in, as are drinks, and Yunho builds a fire in the hearth just for some extra ambiance. The room is lit up in glowing oranges and yellows just in time for the movie to start, cheering coming from the nine friends buried under a mishmash of blankets as soon as the title rolls across the screen.
By unanimous vote, you’re watching Cabin In The Woods, because where better to watch such a film than in a literal cabin in the woods? Yunho didn’t realize but you’re right next to him, your body heat radiating into his and your head resting against his shoulder. He tries not to freeze, tries to keep his muscles untensed and his limbs relaxed, but it’s difficult with you so close to him. He glances around, scanning the room for the culprit of this seating arrangement, and his eyes catch on Hongjoong, who’s smiling his evil little grin, the one he thinks no one knows about.
But Yunho knows. Yunho knows very well how devious Hongjoong can be, and this is just another piece of evidence. Yunho can be devious too though, can drink all of the salted caramel hot chocolate because it’s Joong’s favorite, can take the sherpa blanket back to bed even though he knows Joong brought it from home, can hide his favorite writing pen so any lyrics he writes just aren’t the same.
You jump next to him, a little gasp escaping your strained form, and he realizes it’s coming to one of the scarier parts of the movie. He’d watched it years ago but didn’t have the heart to tell the group, they were too excited about how relevant it was to their situation. He probably should have warned you about the jumpscare though, considering how well he knows that you aren’t one for scary movies. You can tolerate them, sure, but you don’t really enjoy them.
You’re always making sacrifices like this. Going to a restaurant you don’t love just because they want to eat there, seeing a movie you’re not excited for just because they want to see it, buying beer you don’t like just to have it there for them. They really should thank you more, take better care of you, and as soon as these vexing feelings fade away, Yunho will be the first to lead the cause.
He’s not sure when that will happen though, because it seems like the feelings are only growing stronger. The movie definitely isn’t helping -  every time you flinch, he wants to pull you into his arms and every time you gasp, he wishes it was against his lips.
It will be over soon enough, but the problem won’t end there. He still has to share a bed with you, still has to sleep less than three feet away and feel your body heat and smell your shampoo and hear your soft, sweet sounds as you dream.
And if he wakes up with you buried in his arms and your ass pressed against his cock again, he just might lose it.

that night- j. yunho : pt. 3
a/n: heyyyy girl did you miss me 😋 i know i know. after i reread the first 2 parts of this fic, im starting to feel like its already going NOWHERE. but!! i hope this part makes up for all the weirdness in the first couple of parts.
this chapter is a little short
warnings: mentions of self harm, mentions of sex (if you squint), drug use, swearing, use of the word ‘pookie’ only once, reader starts to second guess if she’s at fault
enjoy!
🤍🪩☁️
you watch your phone ding twice after you wipe your tears, processing the fact that yunho just walked into your apartment for the first time ever. you felt like none of it was real, that it was simply a blur that he came to your home, cried to you, kissed your forehead and promised he’d change.
yunho often kept his promise, thus leaving a feeling of confusion on your heart. you decide to ignore what your heart is telling you to do, and instead, listening to your brain:
you trusted him once before, and he fucked it up. don’t do that to yourself again, y/n
no matter how hard you try to ignore the messages on your phone from yunho’s support buddy, you can’t. what could mingi want at this hour?
y/n: hi, whats up?
*seen just now*
mingi.?: can i call you? i wanna talk to u ab smth rq
mingi.?: i stole ur number from yun
y/n: sure.?
as you respond to mingi, you wait a few seconds before mingi’s called ID pops up on your phone. the last thing you need right now is to talk about yunho— and if he calls for just that, you’d rather hang up and sit in silence as you literally haven’t even recovered from that entire show that just took place not even an hour ago.
“hello?” he speaks.
“hey, m-ming…mingi?” you try to pronounce his name, thinking you forgot his name, but he’s quick to confirm that you’d pronounced it right.
“yeah you said it right. how are you, y/n? how’s everything going?” you think he’s only starting small talk just to get to the topic of yunho.
“i could be better but for now i’m okay. how are you, mingi? what makes you call me at this hour?”
“if i’m being honest, i was going to ask you how you and yunho were putting up since i know he just got home from your place. he looked pretty fucked up, y/n.” you feel like he’s guilt tripping you, but you also feel like he’s part of the reason you got to see yunho tonight.
“we didn’t really talk much, he explained what happened that night and i know he regrets it— well, i like to believe he regrets it. plus, i really don’t know why it took him so long to reach out to me through san. because if he really wanted to reach out to me, he wouldn’t just send me pathetic ass texts and not have san call me.”
you and mingi both know that yunho’s texts were not pathetic. they— in fact— made your heart sink, and got you to seeing yunho, even though you didn’t want to be reminded of him, those texts are the reason you still saw him.
“i talked to him a couple years ago and we found each other at our lowest. we met at rehab— he was very much into popping pills and inflicting pain onto himself so i decided to help him out since we were going through the same thing. he had no place to stay, he sold his apartment because he owed that fucker san drug money. i took him into my apartment and i helped him build his credit score and save up to get his own place. he ended up buying a house bigger than mine. no matter what he does, he’s never really happy. i’ve known yunho long enough to know that he is not himself. listen, y/n. i’m not trying guilt trip you, but yunho really did love you. a lot of us do things we shouldn’t but that’s not an excuse. people fuck up, and you don’t have to forgive him, but give him the room to change in a way that shows how much he regrets doing that to you. i’m not saying you need to forgive him now or anything, but let your logic do it’s thing. goodnight, y/n. call me if anything changes.”
mingi hangs up the phone, leaving your head empty and full at the same time. so much happened today, and the last thing you needed was mingi unpacking everything to you.
yunho never mentioned that in his texts. since the both of you were together, yunho was too scared to touch a drug— that being part of the reason he never got along with san.
your pink nail polish is laid out on the floor in crumbles as you’ve picked it all off your nails. you think twice or three times over about how yunho was so broken over what he did to you. he’s the victim in his own story.
you are broken, but you didn’t feel like you were allowed to be hurt— though you have every right to be.
while you and yunho were together, you often refused sex when you got back from work, claiming that you were ‘too tired’ or ‘too busy’ to pay yunho any attention. you can’t remember the last date you had with yunho.
your thoughts cloud your brain as you slowly start to feel like you’re part of the reason he’d cheated on you.
“we hadn’t had sex in like 4 months so i started to believe it.”
“they said you don’t deserve someone like me.”
“they said you can’t handle me”
you walk over to your kitchen, grabbing your lighter and heading back to your balcony. as the night sky hugs your home, you start to mentally prepare yourself for the next few months. you’ve cancelled every lash booking you had for the next week and a half, not being in the right headspace for anything.
you pick up your phone, calling wooyoung.
“it’s 3 in the morning go back to sleep.” he groans. you caught him at the wrong time, hearing a female voice in the back moaning and breathing heavy.
“can you come over? i need you here.” you light your cigarette, the smoke clouding the air in front of you.
“i’m on my way.”
in almost 7 minutes, your best friend is sitting right by you, throwing the cigarette off the balcony. he notices how your nose and eyes are puffy from crying, how your gaze is absent. he puts his lazy hand around your shoulders, pulling you to lean on his own.
“i’m guessing it didn’t go well?” he asks, his baggy flannel smells like comfort, making your eyes well up in tears, in appreciation for your best friend.
“i’m sorry, wooyoung. i keep crying to you. i’m just so overwhelmed and so much shit is unfolding tonight, i just wanna run away from everything bro.” you sniffle into his chest, his hand rubbing on the small of your back.
“hey, it’s okay. it’s okay to cry. talk to me when you’re ready. i’m here to listen, babes.” he rubs and shushes you, as you relax against his hands.
“we talked about what happened that night and how it happened. he said he just didn’t feel like i wanted him anymore and because we didn’t have sex in like 4 months he started to believe what sara and maya were saying.”
“what were they saying?”
“they were saying shit like i didn’t deserve someone like him and that i was stupid to believe i could have someone like him. then when he left he kissed my forehead and walked out and that just was the cherry on top.”
“shit, y/n. i’m sorry.” he stops rubbing your back as you sit up facing him. he brings his hand up to wipe your tears and fix your hair.
“what else, babe?”
“then like an hour after he left, mingi texted me and when i saw it he asked to call. then i said yeah and called me and he told me how yunho was coping when we split. he said he got into drugs and started doing self harm and shit, he sold his apartment cus he owed san money for drugs and he had to get into rehab for it all. he told me how yunho regrets everything but i don’t know, woo. what do i do?” you breathe. you don’t wanna keep crying, but it’s all you can do.
“how’d you feel after the talk with yunho?” he questions.
“i don’t know. i just feel like i wanna give him room to change cus i feel like he would. but then again, he cheated once and he literally said he wanted to leave but i was holding him back from doing what he wanted. i feel like a burden on him even when we’re not together anymore. and i don’t wanna have to go through that again.”
“first of all, you’re the victim. i don’t know why mingi is making it seem like you’re to blame. second of all, i’m not gonna tell you what you should do. all i will say, is that you need hella time to figure it out. listen to your brain, y/n. not your heart. your heart will tell you to do things impulsively, it’s why your brain is up here, and your heart is right under it. your brain will lead you to do the most logical thing and what’s best for you. ’ll support you, no matter what choice you make. but please make the right one.” he kisses your temple, bringing you back to lean on him again.
“woo,”
“yes, y/n.”
“i don’t know what the fuck i’d do if i lost you.”
“you interrupted the best fuck of my life, but i forgive you. don’t let it happen again.”
you laugh, following wooyoung’s giggle.
“i love you pookie”
“i love you, y/n. do you want me to stay the night?” he watches the stars twinkle and dance, taking in the feeling of his best friend in need, and him being the only person who could make you feel at ease— something he would never take for granted.
“please.”
wooyoung giggles lightly as the both of you stand up to head to bed, falling asleep much easier than the night before.

when friday night finally arrived, you were ready to go out. again, a tight dress hugged your curves gracefully, and together with your make-up gave you the femme fatale look you enjoyed building on. seungcheol looked you up and down several times as you finally came out of your room. it was the first time you didn't let him watch you change, and although it made him curious and a little confused, he didn't say anything, respecting your space and privacy. after all, you hadn't had sex for a while either, managing to subtly reject him, even though it was completely obvious to him. he didn't say anything about it either, because his friendship with you was much more important. however, once he could see your body move clearly under that revealing, skimpy piece of fabric, his head stopped cooperating for a moment, letting the part of him that wanted you to death speak once more "my god, you look beautiful" he mused, almost in a whisper as you walk towards him with a necklace in your hand that you're unable to put on by yourself, letting out a small laugh.
"so you like it?" seungcheol carefully pushes the hair away from your back, watching you cocking your head slightly unconsciously. the curve of your neck makes him swallow hard, imagining how amazingly good a few of nibbles and hickeys would look decorating your delicate skin, and that he would gladly make.
"love it" confesses, unfastening the chain effortlessly. you feel his hands slide down your bare arms from your shoulders next, his breath hot against your earlobe. you tensed slightly, even though it's actually a fairly familiar sensation. but lately can't help but mistake desire for guilt when you're not focusing your attention on yunho, much to your chagrin, so instead of being turned on, any contact with a man other than your fucking ex is repulsive to you.
cursing yourself under your breath, knowing there is very little to be subtle about now that you are alone and there is no obvious excuse or reason to stop something you both enjoyed so much not so long ago, "but think i would like it better lying on the floor" he whispers, "we don't have to go today" suggests then, the breath in your lungs preventing you from speaking, nor do you have the courage to turn around and ask him to stop running his hands down your sides, anticipating the feel of your bare skin. you felt really bad. cheol was your best friend and in bed he worked wonders, so there was no reason to say no. besides, in his eyes, you hadn't had sex for literally months, and he had been drooling over you for just as long, and the memory of your beautiful body writhing under his touch, the same one that made you so uncomfortable right now, "what are you saying, beautiful? i missed you like crazy" with the first kiss on the hollow of your neck, you can't take it anymore and finally turn around, abruptly moving away from him.
a lot has changed in you, in fact you'd swear that everything has, but you'd be lying - you were still a terribly faithful and devoted person. it seemed like that was one of your greatest virtues as well as a fucking curse, because losing your desire for any other guy but fucking jeong yunho was out of the question. but it was impossible to avoid it. his image came to your mind every time you even tried to dance with someone else, and when someone touched you, your skin practically burned with the desire that it was none other than yunho. at first you tried to silence all these thoughts, tried to silence all the voices in your head that told you it wasn't him, but after a while you decided to accept it, and so the number of times you saw yunho increased considerably, though neither of you complained. despite the fact that you had to be completely honest with yourself, and thanks to this dialog that was only going on with you in your head, the only time you really found this strange mania of having only yunho in your bed annoying was when it involved seungcheol.
although he never pressured you in any way, you saw the disappointment in his eyes every time you rejected him with excuses and sweet words. he told himself that it was okay, that being your friend was more than enough, and it was true, or it would be if you never stopped flattering him, touching him, and getting close to him as if could never refuse anything he had to offer. for you, this was just the nature of your relationship, and had not yet fully understood the strong sexual component hidden in your little games and frictions, so you never stopped them, and cheol never stopped thinking about you sexually. that's why when practically pushed him out of your atmosphere, with an uncomfortable smile on your face, which, by the way, was hell red, he could only ask, "am i missing something? did something wrong?" sounded slightly offended, although he tried to hide his frustration to not look childish, blaming you for not wanting to have sex with him anymore.
you sigh and close your eyes tightly as you mentally debate whether or not it's a good idea to tell him the truth. you knew that seungcheol would support you in whatever decided because he truly loved you, but after everything that happened you felt stupid and didn't know if you were strong enough to put into words what was going on. didn't care if yunho's friends knew, because their opinion seemed to be irrelevant to you, but your own friends… that's another story. obviously chaeyoung had deduced something from some hint you dropped from time to time, but the rest had no idea, and cheol made it clear at that moment, completely lost and frustrated "you didn't do anything wrong, cheolie" stammered, scratching the back of your neck in search of courage, "it's just that… there's something that…" you were about to say his name, about to put the relationship that had hurt you so much and over which you had cried so much with seungcheol himself back on the table, ready - or not so ready - to make a fool of yourself in front of the man who had warned you over and over again to kick him back to his fucking house if he came back. not only did you not kick him any of the times he came back, you went to his fucking house to look for him yourself, but as if you had said it, the doorbell rings, saving you for a few seconds from making a fool of yourself.
"i'll get the door, you keep trying to formulate a sentence that makes sense" he sneered, disappearing into the hallway for a moment. you heard the door open but nothing else, neither a greeting nor footsteps returning to the living room, so you asked who it was, raising a voice, "i don't think you need to explain anything to me anymore" seungcheol appeared around the corner of the hallway, his completely inquisitorial face peering out, both eyebrows raised and lips flattened into a thin line. you followed him with the worst feeling in your stomach, which was confirmed when you met yunho's slender figure in front of your door. his face was serious, had no doubt why, but could still see the anxiety lurking behind his gaze. without a word, he entered your apartment and bumped seungcheol with his shoulder, who laughed ungracefully and held his breath, trying to control himself when he looked at you.
"can we talk about this later?" you muttered, avoiding his gaze at all costs. he felt a pang of disappointment, no longer because he almost certainly knew what was going on - although anything to do with fucking yunho would have touched his balls just the same - but because you had kept it from him since god knows when. however, he said nothing more about it and just nodded, giving you the benefit of the doubt. kissed your forehead before saying "if anything happens, call me. i'll be here in a second" you smiled at him and gave him a gentle kiss on the cheek, encouraging him to leave.
you had something important to sort out at your house, you knew it just by looking at his face, without having to say a single word. after all, you've been close for years, so you knew yunho better than yourself, although now you can't be sure of anything. it was already past eleven o'clock at night, but you expected him to have spent the whole day with those "plans" that weren't with his friends, and apparently wouldn't let him spend the night with you, so were quite surprised, but not upset. you didn't mind arriving later than the others, you would soon catch up with them, you were much more curious as to why yunho was at your house. when you closed the door behind you, you could see your ex in an almost frantic state. he started pacing around the room, head down, staring at the floor as if searching for answers in the wood grain of the worn parquet, desperately trying not to make his point. without coming out of shock, you tried to talk to him "yunho, what are you doing here, is everything ok?" being careful not to be too harsh, maybe just a little distance, but make sure you didn't push his boundaries too much, not then he seemed to be completely gone.
"had to see you" confessed without any shame. indeed, the anxiety had already wreaked havoc on his nervous system, and when you approached him, knew that the alcohol had been there as well. you rubbed your face with both hands, worried on the inside, tired on the outside. "what didn't expect was to see him" he growled, again uncensored. he knew for sure that it would never be a good idea to bring seungcheol into the conversation, because you would defend your friend tooth and nail, but he didn't care at that moment. all yunho wanted to do was see you. he needed to touch you, smell you, hear you, have you close to him. he was lucky to find you still at home because he didn't want to do it surrounded by a bunch of sweaty people with the frantic rhythm of a song in the background that would force him to dance. he wanted intimacy, once again.
you are sincere this time, making his eyes travel to yours for the first time, raising one of his eyebrows, unsure if he heard right. he looked so pitiful at that moment that you tried to comfort him, even if it was with lies? more than pitiful, in your eyes he looked defeated. something you had always been very good at, from the moment you met him, was reading him. you knew when he was happy, sad, excited, horny, hurt… and of course, defeated. you'd only seen him like that once in your whole life, but that day, which was nothing else than the day everything went to shit between you, stuck in your mind and with it yunho's expression. how he watched you walk away, without being able to do anything but look away, unsettled him second by second; oddly enough, he looked exactly the same at that moment. although apparently everything would be a matter of time that night.
"i shouldn't care, should i?" he let out a bitter laugh and dropped his body onto your couch, his legs spread wide and his head resting on the back with his eyes completely closed. you hated to admit it, but you were genuinely worried about him, so you were frustrated because you didn't know how to try and help him without giving him the fucking privilege of seeing that you still cared about his fucking well being. you took a deep breath and followed him to the couch, sitting carefully across from him on the little cafe table.
"no, u shouldn't" you state, yunho sighs.
"why do you have to make everything so fucking complicated?" he suddenly says, confusing you even more "why can't you just be a normal girl? talk about fucking feelings, learn to forgive, not act like you don't give a shit about everything" he growls, this time rubbing his face "i'd love to understand how i got to fuck with your head so much, or maybe you were already like that before i met you" he thinks out loud, making you laugh. he had a certain reason that it would be stupid to deny: you didn't have an answer for that either. the ideas in your mind confused reality and fiction every time, involuntarily, the logic in your head tried to make sense of what was still going on with yunho. when you looked at your reflection in the mirror once you kicked him out of the house, who you saw was not yourself. sometimes felt that you were playing a role, that what you were doing had only a childish and - a bit - cruel purpose, but then you found yourself comfortable and strong in your new skin, enjoying the way yunho came back to you again and again, and, damn, you loved how he needed you, so much that, maybe, you started to need him too. that's why, and for your own pride, you always used to opt for keeping your composure, for keeping that role.
your laughter is not subtle, but thunderous and full of sarcasm, which gets his attention again. he leans back on the couch to see your smile, which actually hides a terrible desire to punch him in the face with an open hand. licking your lower lip, you lean forward and close the distance a bit, showing a little more of your cleavage - obviously yunho is quick to take a first look "m going to be nice to you, whether you deserve it or not, and 'm going to shut the fuck up because i can see u're really fucked up" your voice is soft, doing a great job of controlling yourself, something you've perfected over time thanks to him "but don't know how far my patience will go, so if you just came here to spew bullshit out of your mouth, can go tell it to yourself in the mirror.
yunho's gaze sharpens on you, feeling the blood in his body begin to rush hard through his veins as his heartbeat increases. the memories of a few hours ago come flooding back to his mind: smiles, caresses, promises. with you now, all he gets is sarcasm and sourness. yet for some twisted reason that eludes his logic, he wants more. he was tired of always wanting more than you could offer, even if it was just that condescension and coldness, followed by a few kisses and a fuck. he suffered like a fool, but was addicted to you, and seeing the person you were now, he didn't understand why. A nasal laugh anticipates the movements of his body, which is already attracted to yours as if you were a big magnet and he a weak and light piece of metal. he enjoys seeing you, smelling your perfume and almost feeling your aggressive but attractive fucking attitude penetrate his head. you enjoy it too. you enjoy how his gaze moves quickly around all the corners of your face, taking longer to notice your lips, your cleavage and your naked thighs. You enjoy how he takes the initiative to get closer to you. and you enjoy it even more when you hear him say the following: "i came to see you because it's you who fucked me to the core," he growls again, carelessly placing the palm of his hand on your thigh, covering it almost effortlessly. tightening his grip, you tilt your head to the side with an unfriendly smile on your face.
"if you don't like it, just go" you say, while being absolutely sure that yunho wouldn't do that. he couldn't leave you, because he needed you as much as you needed him. a grin appears on his face, but it is far from being sweet. his tongue runs along his lower lip, grabbing your wrist to pull you towards him, pulling you effortlessly, because you would let yourself be carried away by whatever yunho could offer you. that was the only truth, one that you would never admit and that you would take with you as a secret confession, but he was still the only person in the world who could make you feel so much and so intensely with so little. a look, a touch, a kiss, even a word. in the same second, you could hate him with all your heart and crave him as if he were your last meal. you also missed him deeply when he was gone, because obviously bringing your ex back after living together for so long had consequences. weren't sure how you felt about him, but what you did know was that you weren't interested in finding out, focusing all your efforts on keeping your cool as much as you could - which was too much for yunho - and not letting anything resembling the word love come up again, because it was obvious that you still resented him deeply.
when you are close enough, he doesn't need much to pull you from your hips and make you sit on his lap. you put both hands on his shoulders for support, while he caresses the line of your sides over the fabric of your new dress. for a few seconds, you remain silent, eyes fixed on each other, like trying to speak without saying a word. however, you don't quite understand what's happening, why suddenly yunho looks and feels completely different. his gaze on you is somehow different, something you've never seen in him before. "you don't want me to go" his voice is soft and rough, as if he's trying to hypnotize you with a melody similar to the hamelin flute. another battle raged inside you: could you be honest again and let yourself be carried away by a side of yunho you seemed to be getting to know at that moment, or continue with the role.
was it right to give in even a little to someone who had broken your heart? despite what he might think, you felt weak in his arms because you knew for a fact that you shouldn't be there. but there was something about the way he touched you that kept you coming back. it was probably an obsession, a dark desire that he would never leave your sheets, no matter how badly you treated him, no matter how he made you feel. told yourself that you deserved to have him and that he deserved everything you did, like it was your personal sweet revenge. but moments like that, when he looked at you as if he knew your every secret and still wanted to discover you beyond the layers of clothes and skin he always ended up exploring, moments when it wasn't just desire you read in his pupils, when you could still read love and admiration in his eyes… moments like that made you vulnerable to him.
"you've done it so many times before, sweetie" without giving in to the pang in your chest and the need to tell him he was right your words echoed bitterly through yunho's head with an infinite echo. you yourself could see his face darkened slightly. and then he didn't know exactly what he had come to do beyond satisfying his thirst of you- he felt different, things were changing and there seemed to be no return, so he hoped, foolishly, that you could understand him by the way he had come to you that day, because that's the kind of connection he always trusted you two shared. he didn't really know what he was surprised about or what he was waiting for. you don't want me to go, he said it more to himself than to you. he needed to hear you say it. ask him to stay, because if not… he was afraid he wouldn't (want) be able to come back.
he squeezed his eyes shut as he thought of her again. short brown hair that made her look so adorable against the roughness of your figure; her beautiful smile full of promise, empathy and compassion; her slender, slim body that felt so delicate under his huge hands and that he had been able to enjoy almost completely just a few hours ago. only one thing stopped him from devouring the sweetest girl he had ever met after you, and that was exactly you. he felt like he would be letting you down if he just did it, and felt like the dumbest person in all of south korea because was - wrongly - sure that you were still fucking around, especially with choi damn seungcheol. so when he apologized to her for not going all the way, came to you like a madman. the taste of her lips was still present on his, just like her perfume was still on your ex's skin, but you were so lost in what you already knew that you didn't notice any of it. for you, seeing him close his eyes was a sign of pain, but the reality was that he wasn't even thinking about you.
his hands left your body to cup your face this time, caressing it with his thumb as he slowly opened his eyes to meet yours. you were confused and he could see it clearly, loving to see you like this, finally a little more vulnerable. he enjoyed it as much as it tortured him. sighed softly before he said, "when i've really done it, u're going to miss me" another overwhelming truth that made your chest tighten at the thought, but again you didn't let him know that he had hit the key. what would happen when this was over? you didn't want to think about it. just the thought of it, awakened a new wave of desire and need in you, to hold him close, to taste him. you tried to move closer to him, to finally join your lips, but he stopped you "so beautiful" he whispered "it hurts just to look at you" with the words coming straight from his throat, you swallowed, soaking in a new sensation under his touch. "and we fit so well together" he left your cheeks to lower one of his hands to your waist while he outlined your face with the other. aware of his own movements, he left a soft kiss on your chin, "your all drive me crazy" as his fingers trailed down your skin, a trail of wet kisses erasing the path he had drawn with his touch. felt your chest shrink as your panties soaked with each new contact of his lips. you had no idea what he was up to, nor how it made you feel, but there was no way you were going to stop him. "if you had asked, i would have done anything for u, know that, right?" he looked at you again, this time sinking his fingers into the bare skin of your thigh as his words penetrated your head. you didn't want to say anything anymore, afraid to break whatever it was doing to you.
yunho was pushing the boundaries you had set for him and would be lying if he said he wasn't surprised you allowed it, but was glad you didn't stop him as he worshipped you for a damned long time. it was as if it was written in the stars, probably the most opportune day for you to let him show something beyond a hard cock and how good he could make you feel with his body. felt like saying goodbye to him, even though you couldn't recognise what was happening. your eyes moved silently to his lips as he spoke his words to you, and yunho felt his heart ache as he watched you wanting him in a different way. you respected what he desired at that moment, which was nothing more than to worship you, and it felt slightly as if time had not passed. nostalgia overcame him and he had to fight back the tears in his heart at the memory of a sweeter version of you, madly in love with him and not heartbroken because of him. he would have given anything to keep you like that forever, to freeze the vague feeling of recovery, to satisfy the grief that tormented him for having lost you.
it was an idea he had recently accepted. he had lost you, and the one who was with him so many nights these last months was not you, it was the memory of you, a mere shadow that could only comfort him for a while, because you no longer wanted him. because yunho was sure that there was no more room for him in your heart, so he decided that for his own sake he should leave you behind, though not yet. "do you want to kiss me?" asked with a trembling voice, and you nodded without taking your eyes off his mouth, which was smiling slightly. he didn't want to prolong it either, so he finally let his lips caress yours first, gently, letting his breath creep down your throat as a foretaste of his own tongue, which attacked your mouth as soon as you could really feel it. hands travelled down your back until they reached the zip of your dress, letting it fall gently through your skin, using his hands to remove the fabric from your shoulders, following the same path that seungcheol had just followed. the difference was that it felt good now. it was good because it was yunho who was touching you.
you didn't know what was different this time, but your skin reacted to it by making even the hairs on your body stand up, causing yunho to smile in the kiss as he brushed the skin on your arms. oxygen was getting scarce, but you didn't care, you wanted to go on, you wanted to devour him in the sweetest way possible "seems you missed me" the voice is soft against your lips, but you stand firm with the little conviction you have left, at least until he asks you to "tell me, please" resting your forehead on his, closed your eyes tightly, gathering the courage to confess.
"yes" you whispered, "thought i wouldn't see you today" he was still looking at you, still holding on to the memory of your awkwardly made-up eyelashes, with an extra black lump that curved upwards as if they had no end, the curve of the bridge of your nose and the way your cheekbones outlined your pretty face. yunho wanted you to open your eyes, but you were still too cowardly.
"that bothered u?" he whispered, stroking your hair "not being able to see me today" you nod, breathing deeply with your lips sealed. don't know why, but a handful of tears threaten to leave your eyes, so you pushed them shut tight before opening them. his were full of tears too, along with something that, again, you couldn't identify mixed with a very, very sweet smile "so you want me to be here" he says and you nod again, as if you've forgotten your role and even how to articulate a word.
for yunho it was enough. he had got what he wanted, as if he finally reached the end of a very complex book, as if he had discovered you. but even though he was satisfied, he wasn't well. he was sad, and he knew that even if his whole body asked him to kiss you again, which he certainly would, it wouldn't be the solution. despite knowing this, his lips met yours briefly before the kisses traced a new path down your skin, your chin, then your body and finally your breasts, exposed as the fabric of your dress fell over your hips. used both hands to lift the skirt of your dress, exposing your underwear, which he immediately removed so that you could feel for the first time the mess he had made of you, just with his kisses and his words. at this point yunho wanted to taste you as soon as possible, and he could just fuck you and satisfy the bulge that was already growing painfully under the cloth of his trousers, but would be missing a wonderful opportunity to enjoy you. looked up at him almost anxiously, tilting your body back slightly, leaning on your arms on the small table so you could spread your legs for yunho. he dug his fingers into the skin of your thighs, leaving wet kisses on the inside, and made his way to your cunt. with his teeth he pulled your lingerie aside and licked your clit without waiting, making you sigh. you trembled at the sensation, as if you hadn't fucked him the day before, as if you hadn't seen him for ages. yunho increases the strength in his grip on your thighs before he releases one of them and you use his fingers inside your completely flooded hole, smiling with pleasure as he hears a moan catch in your throat when he slips two fingers in at once. he knows your body, knows how to make you see the fucking stars and is doing it when you've only just started.
he abused your hole with his fingers, licking your clit like it was his last meal, and you were embarrassed even by the amount of moaning and pleading that came from your lips as you felt your orgasm unfold in the pit of your stomach. buried one of your hands in his hair, pressing it against your pussy while fucking his mouth with your hips. yunho fought against everything in his goddamned being not to fuck you right then and there, deciding to make you come in his mouth before he fucked you senseless "fuck, fuck, fuck" the pitch of your voice is quite high, unable to contain yourself. yunho's tongue flicks harder than thought possible, you try to push him away at the overwhelming sensation of your orgasm, but he sinks his head hard between your legs until a deep moan leaves your throat and you breathe again, albeit unsteadily, as you cum in your ex's mouth. yunho, without any regrets and swearing he could only cum from the scene he's just experienced and your completely banged up image, licks every drop, tasting you.
your hot body glistening in a thin layer of sweat, your chest rising and falling as you try to catch the breath you didn't know you were holding. shit, you were amazing to him. from another fucking world. "that was…" you mumble, unable to find words good enough. yunho grins at you again, this time full of pride, and stands up to kiss you, giving you a taste of your essence. he moans against your lips as he feels your hand on the bulge in his pants, on the verge of tears from the need to sink into you.
"drop my pants the fuck down" he growled, making you laugh, but obeyed without hesitation. you unbuckled his belt in the middle of the kiss, not without difficulty, then took over his buttons and pulled them down roughly, eliciting a moan from deep in his throat that he stifled by biting down a little harder on your lower lip. "to bed," he demanded.
"how about we end it here? i don't want to wai-" you try to sound seductive, but his voice, so much harder and deeper than yours, cuts you off.
"today i'm gonna fuck you in bed" he demands again, forcing you to get up. you start to walk in front of him, jumping a little when you feel his hand hit your ass. you're not surprised by the act itself, because actually yunho has always been like this, but he hasn't been like this with you for a long time. he liked to feel you, to play with you, to show you that every part of you pleases him at every moment, and to touch your ass and then hug you from behind and kiss your shoulder gently, as if he hadn't just finished eating your pussy was part of his love language.
"and these urges, where do they come from?" asked with a hint of amusement in your words. when finally reached your room, yunho pushed you onto the bed and climbed on top of you, resting his knees on either side of your hips. the corners of his lips were also raised, showing an amused grimace.
"i want you to think of me tomorrow when you wake up" he confessed, kissing your lips briefly, "and whenever you go to bed" another little kiss.
"we've fucked here tons of times" you said, raising your eyebrows.
"today is going to be so much better," he whispered against your lips, coming within inches of your face as he removed his boxers. you helped him with the shirt, revealing his slightly toned but mostly slender torso, his smooth, almost porcelain skin and his incredibly broad shoulders. you ran your hands over his skin, admiring him for the first time in a long time. yunho didn't know if the tears he felt caking his chest were from happiness or sadness.
"you're amazing too, yuyu" with your words, yunho closed his eyes again, like he was trying to remember your voice as you confessed your biggest secret to him. now it was your turn to appreciate how incredibly beautiful his face was. his naturally shaped, beautiful pink lips, his big, slanted eyes, closed and adorned with hundreds of eyelashes, the straight bridge of his nose or the hot way his hair stuck to his dirty skin with sweat, even though he hadn't even fucked you properly yet. you cupped his face with both hands to bring your lips together again, "what are you waiting for? make me miss you every time you're not here" his eyes snapped open, taking a few minutes to stare at you almost in disbelief before his gaze focused on you and a confident grimace crossed his face.
what the fuck was that and why did you have to tell him that night? it was as if you suddenly knew what was about to happen, even though in reality you were just letting yourself go for the first fucking time. he aligned his cock, hard to the point of pain, with your entrance and let out a little laugh in anticipation of the first thrust. he didn't bother to be gentle, ramming you again and again, hitting your g-spot and making you moan each other's names like a mantra, bringing you together in a frenzy you hadn't felt in a long time. yunho watched as you arched beneath him, your eyelids shut tight and your hands lost behind his back, digging your nails into his skin as you moaned and cursed at how good it felt. there was nothing different about his actions; he wasn't fucking you differently, he wasn't kissing you differently or even touching you in new ways, what made him better than ever was that you were allowing feelings to creep in beyond pure pleasure and that was taking you so much higher without you even knowing it.
just like yunho, who melted into you every time you groaned his name as if it was the only word in your vocabulary. he placed his hands on your hips and deepened his cock inside you, making you tremble. he knew by the way your walls absorbed it that you were close, so he made sure to stimulate your clit as well. "why do you always feel so incredibly good, jagiya? " he whimpered over your lips "even more stunning when my cock is stuffing you. look at that, when did u become so needy?" your chest rose and fell with difficulty as you felt your orgasm approaching for the second time with the help of his fingers and his voice "you're the best thing i've ever seen in my whole fucking life" as you arched your back and got another access to your insides, yunho had to restrain himself not to screw it up. not to say something that had always stuck in his throat, from the first day until today, and that he feared forever, even though he didn't want to "going to cum, aren't you, beautiful?" he grunted instead, bringing his free hand to the curve of your neck and squeezing lightly. you nodded with tears running down your cheeks, feeling yourself getting closer and closer "cum on my cock, jagiya, 'm close too" with his words, you pushed his face to yours with both hands to kiss him again.
you savoured his mouth with your tongue for a few more minutes before you moaned loudly against his lips, absorbing his cock with your walls like there was no tomorrow, pushing him into his own orgasm as well.
after a few seconds he dropped his body next to you and quickly wrapped you in a hug. you were so close, in such a different way, that you were afraid that even yunho could hear your heartbeat, which was beating particularly fast, not only from the recent orgasm, but from the way he felt it on your skin. he kissed your forehead and it was then that you dropped practically all your barriers and lay down on his side so that you could hug him tightly as well. yunho bites his lower lip, wanting to cry out all the things he's feeling right now, completely lost in you, while you sink your head into the hollow between his chest and neck. it's just then that you notice a new scent on his skin. a sweet, floral, distinctly feminine one. and it wasn't yours. fatigue grows in your stomach and you gasp for air, wondering if it's just your imagination, if your brain is playing tricks on you because you gave in to yunho. whether it's true or not, you wanted to cry at that moment too. "can i stay tonight?" his voice was almost a plea, and for a moment you thought you understood what was going on.
with fear forming a lump in your throat, feeling too much and trying not to ask if it was true what had just crossed your mind, you answered him "please".
that night, when yunho didn't let go of you for a single second, you wished with all your heart and soul that time would stand still. that this bed, which suddenly felt so much like home when he held you between the sheets, would hold you forever. it was a terrible feeling and it burned like hell, but you let yourself be caught up in it, at least for that night. you let yourself fall for him and for everything he made you feel, even if didn't want to name it, just for that night. yunho didn't feel much different from you, only he could recognise how he felt about you. he still loved you, and he always had. but you hurt him, and he knew that the truce you had signed today would not last beyond next morning. it was necessary, it had to be like this. because he had made a deal with someone else, and because you didn't deserve him to break that promise for you. so as soon as the first drops of light came through your curtains, yunho left your house. he kissed your forehead in tears and stayed for a few minutes to watch you sleep, to imprint your image on his retina, before he walked out the door for the last time, again without saying goodbye, denying you the chance to see him suffer for you once more.
when you wake up a few hours later, the first thing you notice is his absence. you sigh, feeling empty and blaming yourself for letting him spend the night. when you pick up your phone, among several messages from chaeyoung, blaming you anyway because she knows exactly why you didn't show up at the party, there's one from yunho.
see you tonight.

As it turns out, you can’t just go back to being friends. When you wake in the morning you still feel sick, and your first thought is to wonder if Yunho does too. Maybe Mingi feels the same, but was better at hiding it. Maybe you’ll get to the studio and they’ll take you in their arms like a movie and kiss the breath out of you and hold you close and tell you they should have never, ever driven you home. But you doubt it.
You’ve been in love before, and you’ve had crushes before that. You’re no stranger to getting tangled up in emotional webs, it’s just usually not with people you work with and it’s usually so much easier to walk away. Or run, as you’re used to doing. This body, this designation, this biology, it makes everything always feel so confusing and artificial. Do you want them or does your omega? Do you need them or is it just the after effects of heat?
It’s a lot easier when you lie to yourself.
You’ve been dealing with this biology all your life. That’s all this is, and after a little time and a little distance, your body will catch up to your mind and stop feeling this way about them.
You take those aching feelings and lock them away tightly and then you get up. You shower, you take a deep breath, and then you buy yourself the fanciest coffee you can think of despite the absolute lack of funds in your checking account. This momentary serotonin will be worth the overdraft fee if that’s where it puts you, you need this.
By the time you get to the studio, you’re pretty confident that you’re over them, convincing yourself that it was just fun, good sex. Great sex, even, but still just sex.
But the minute you see Mingi every stitch of the resolve you knit for yourself unravels, and he looks surprised to see you even though it was part of the plan that you’d return today. He leaves the room before you can even open your mouth and try to say something innocuous and you know right then and there you were right all along. It was never going to be that simple.
Yunho blushes when he sees you, his ears turning a dark shade of pink and for a second he trips over his words addressing the wider group.
Mingi avoids your touch when you cross his path at lunch, offering you just a quick hello and then he’s gone again.
Instead of searching for their eyes, you start to get really comfortable with the wood grain of the floor and do your best just to focus on yourself. You’re working on something new, and a week ago you would have stayed late to fine tune your understanding of the choreography with Mingi while he waited on Yunho to wrap up in the back office, but you know those days are gone.
When practice ends they disappear, and you’re left to pack up by yourself. You give it a few minutes, thinking maybe when the rest of the crew trickles out maybe they’ll come to you, but they don’t. So much for being adults about this. You blink back hazy tears as you pull on your jacket, focused on packing up as fast as you can now just to get the hell out of this room.
You don’t even hear him coming up behind you.
“Come on,” Wooyoung says with a roll of his eyes, “we’re going for drinks.”
“I really should get home,” You glance over at him as you finish packing up your bag.
“I’m buying,” Wooyoung counters, “so you really have no excuse.”
What you really want is to go home and bury yourself under the covers for the foreseeable future. Every awkward second glance with Yunho was making you want to curl into a ball and every moment Mingi spent pretending he barely knew you made you want to go home and cry. An entire day filled with almost sentences and troublesome glances and all you can tell yourself is that you knew it, you were right all along.
You don’t answer Wooyoung, and instead you just can’t help yourself, you look behind you towards the back office, but neither of the men you want to see are there.
“Are you really so afraid of making friends you’re turning down free drinks?” Wooyoung prods your side, “That’s really fucking lame of you,”
“Wooyoung,” You sigh, your head dropping back.
“It’s fine,” He says, his voice lilting up in a sing-song, “I thought you were cool,”
Your jaw tightens.
“And I’m not usually wrong,” He goes on, “but it’s fine, I’m man enough to admit when I’m wrong, and you, y/n, are lame.”
“Fine!” You snap up and meet his eyes, “Fine, I’ll come, but just one drink.”
“Excellent,” He smiles, and you’re starting to get the sense that Wooyoung doesn’t really take no for an answer ever.
“One drink,” You repeat.
“Yeah,” He shrugs off, “come on, get your stuff, we’re meeting San at 1987.”
“Where?”
“Bar,” He brushes off your question without really answering, “let’s go,”
Wooyoung turns on his heel without a second thought, and he’s off. You have to jog to keep up with him to get out of the building, and he’s mostly quiet until you hit the evening street outside. He slows to a casual pace and turns his head to you when he says, “You like San, right?”
The question catches you off guard, “Of course,”
Wooyoung smiles, “He’s definitely all business at work, most of the time, but don’t worry.”
“Why would I worry?” Your brow furrows, every interaction you’ve had with San so far has been perfectly pleasant, albeit professional.
“I just mean he’s fun,” Wooyoung corrects himself, “he’s just really serious about the work,”
“You’re all kind of like that,” You point out, “mostly,”
“Right,” Wooyoung nods, winding his way through an alley and you divert off the main street to follow him as he leads you through the back way to their regular spot.
“He takes training really seriously,” You offer, “but I think that’s good. We could all hurt ourselves if we weren’t following his plans,”
Wooyoung grins, “Oh, he’s going to like the sound of that.”
“Yeah?”
“Mhm,” Wooyoung lays a hand softly between your shoulder blades to direct you through a small crowd, “follow that up with how handsome he is and you’ll get special treatment forever.”
You laugh sharply, “Noted.”
He points ahead, “Just up there,”
At the far end of the alley is a hanging neon sign, the ‘7’ in ‘1987’ flickering intermittently. It’s not as flashy as some of the other bars or restaurants along the street you’re walking, but that looks to be part of the charm. As you make your way up to the door and inside, Wooyoung is quick to greet a few people on the sidewalk, throw a wave to the bartender, and he throws around names and details to you faster than you can pick up on them.
San waits at a table in the far corner, two light, wheat beers already waiting on the table. When he glances up from his phone and sees you both his eyes widen but he smiles pleasantly.
“Hey!” He smiles, standing and pulling a chair out for you, “I didn’t realize you were coming, I would have ordered you something,”
“I’m not crashing plans, am I? Woo didn’t say,” You glance between them.
“Not at all,” San shakes his head, gesturing for you to sit, “you’re more than welcome. Seonghwa should be coming too at some point,”
“Oh,” Your stomach does a little nervous flip flop.
“Chill,” Wooyoung interrupts your thoughts immediately, “have a drink, make some friends.”
You smile, taking your seat and letting San push it in for you so you’re settled at the table before he returns to his own place, gesturing for the server’s attention, “What’s your drink?” he asks you.
“Whatever you’re having is good,” You make it simple.
San smiles and points to their glasses before holding up a finger and silently communicating to the server that they need one more. He’s more relaxed than you’ve ever seen him, now outside of work full of easy, confident energy.
“Well,” Wooyoung smiles and takes a long sip of his drink, “this is nice,”
“Yeah,” You’re not entirely sure what you’re doing here, but you might as well go with it, “thanks for letting me tag along,”
“Mm,” San’s eyes are trained on the serving staff but he nods, and then stands as your server approaches, meeting them halfway and taking the beer, thanking them profusely for running it out so quickly. When he returns to the table he presents your drink with ease, “There we go,”
“Thank you,” You nod, accepting the cold glass, and now that it’s in your hand you’re grateful to have the drink after the day you’ve had.
The sip is calming, cool and crisp, and you sigh as you swallow, not realizing the way you’re being watched by both men.
Wooyoung’s words nearly knock you sideways, and a tiny piece of you is grateful he waited until you finished sipping your drink, “So, how was your heat?”
You cough anyways though, just the idea that someone would say it so brazenly, and in public, “What?”
“Youngie,” San slaps him with the back of his hand, “you can’t ask her that,”
Wooyoung ignores him, leaning forwards with his elbows on the table now, “The perfume isn’t helping as much as you think,” he says and you blanch, “and I’ve never seen Yunho stare at someone for so long in my life, so,”
He barely met your eyes all day, and your head snaps up, “He was staring?”
His mouth quirks up on one side and San swivels his head towards you. Wooyoung nods, “Like a puppy,”
“Fuck,” You breathe.
Both their eyebrows raise.
“Sorry, sorry,” You lean back in your chair, hiding your face in your hands. So much for a convenient story about them having the flu.
“You can curse,” Wooyoung laughs, “I just didn’t expect you to admit it that fast, I thought I’d have to pry it out of you.”
“Oh, this is so bad,” You groan.
“Why bad?” San asks, “Yunho’s nice,”
You sigh, still hiding your face.
“He’s easily one of the best guys I know,” San continues, “and there’s nothing that says we can’t date within the company, we’re not idols,”
“Oh god,” You groan again.
“Is it so bad he has a crush on you?” San asks.
Wooyoung breaks into hysterics and your hands fall away, a blank, open expression on San’s face as he tries to pick up on the joke. You wince, shaking your head, “It’s worse than that,”
“Worse,” San repeats, still slow on the uptake.
“Woo,” You find his eyes with yours, “please don’t make me say it.”
He sobers quickly, and takes a swig of his beer, “Right,” he faces San, “Yunho had the flu, but it wasn’t really the flu. They were heat partners.”
“Oh,” San says, “oh,”
“Exactly,” You sigh.
There’s a beat and then San’s brow screws up in confusion, “Didn’t Mingi have the flu too?”
Heat tints your cheeks pink instantaneously and you look down at your glass, suddenly focused on the tiny bursting bubbles at the top of your beer. You brace yourself for their reaction.
“Holy shit,” Wooyoung breathes, “y/n, you’re a god,”
“What?” Your head snaps up.
“Both of them?” Wooyoung shakes his head, “Tell me everything,”
“You don’t have to do that,” San interrupts him again, smacking the back of his arm, “he’s needlessly curious, but you know, you don’t have to share if you don’t,”
The words flood out of you, a small piece of you thankful that you don’t have to hold this whole thing inside yourself forever, “I went into heat at the studio,”
“What?” Wooyoung’s face softens, and you know that he understands just what that means. The anxiety, the fear, all of it.
“This is embarrassing,” You sigh.
“Then you don’t have to,” San tries again, wanting badly to save you from any further humiliation or pressure.
You ignore him and hold Wooyoung’s eyes, “Friends, right?”
He nods.
You swallow hard and then take the leap, “I can’t afford my suppressants right now,” you start and his eyes soften more, “I thought I had rationed them right, but after the recording it hit me like a truck.”
“I knew you seemed off,” Wooyoung says softly, “then what?”
“Mingi found me in the locker room, and then he got Yunho, and they made sure I got out of there okay,” You lean back, crossing your arms and biting the inside of your lip.
“Sharing your heat was unplanned?” Wooyoung clarifies.
“Yes,”
“And it was,” He searches for the right words, “I mean… were they okay? Everything was okay?”
You know what he’s asking without asking, and you nod, “Completely, it was more than okay, they were…”
“They’re both good guys,” San says, “it’s good they were there.”
“Yeah,” You breathe, before snapping yourself out of own head and reaching for your beer again, “anyways, yes, so they took me back to their place and now it’s four, five days later and everything’s so fucking awkward,”
“Hmm,” Wooyoung murmurs, “and it was good?”
You nod, lips pressed tight together in a line.
“Oh, it was too good,” Wooyoung grimaces, “yikes.”
“Right,” You sigh, “and Yunho and Mingi both made it pretty clear that this was a one-time casual sex thing, which is fine, but also you know how heat goes. Everything is all jumbled up now,”
“Mm,” Wooyoung nods, and then his eyes shift to above your head and he grins, “Hwa, right here!”
Park Seonghwa appears a moment later, a warm smile on his angular face and he pushes a lock of dark black hair behind his ear as he finds an open seat and slides into the table, “Hey,” he greets, and then turns to you, “hi, y/n, nice to see you outside the studio,”
“You too,” You smile.
San once again repeats his process for getting Seonghwa a drink, and your stomach tightens as you think about what Wooyoung might say in front of this man you barely know.
“It looks like I interrupted something,” Seonghwa says a few moments later when everything is still quiet and hanging still.
Wooyoung doesn’t say it, he just holds your gaze intently and raises an eyebrow as if to say - Can I?
You sigh, catching Seonghwa off guard, and then you nod.
“y/n just got back from heat leave,” Wooyoung turns to Seonghwa to explain, “with Yunho and Mingi.”
You expect a sheepish or embarrassed reaction, someone quick to divert the conversation away from sex, but it turns out you don’t know Seonghwa as well as you thought. He merely makes a noise of acknowledgement and glances to you, “How messy are things, then? They were both being weird today,”
“I don’t know,” You answer honestly with a sigh.
“They said they wanted it to be a one-time thing,” Wooyoung says, “but is the problem that you like them? Or one of them?”
“I can see that,” Seonghwa smiles, “Yunho kind of oozes perfect boyfriend,”
“It’s not that,” You shake your head, words bubbling up as you try to make sense of it, “it probably shouldn’t have happened at all, and I’m new, I don’t want to make anything weird or uncomfortable, but we spent like four days together… it was intense, and now I just feel like I can’t not think about it when I look at them,”
“Intense, good?” Wooyoung quirks a brow, nudging you under the table.
“Woo,” You sigh, “I’ve never felt like that,”
“What do you mean?” He asks softly, the two alphas at the table going silent to watch you both.
“I don’t know what it is about them,” You confess, “but the entire time all they did was make sure I was okay, they were so tender and kind, and when I left I just wanted to go back.”
“Oh,” Wooyoung murmurs, “you’ve got it bad,”
“My hormones are just out of whack,” You shake your head, “you know what it’s like. Have an alpha tell you they want to give you pups enough times and your brain short circuits,”
Seonghwa shifts in his seat and San clears his throat, but Wooyoung just laughs.
“Anyways, yes,” You take another sip of your drink, “I spent my heat with them, had the best sex of my life, and now I’m sitting here with a stomach ache because I don’t know where they are right now. I feel like the universe is playing a trick on me,”
“Wait,” Wooyoung starts to say, but you’re on a roll now, the single beer hitting just a little harder than it should have.
“Working here, with all of you, was my dream. I just think it’s funny that I haven’t even been here for three months and I’ve already managed to fuck it up, because now everytime I look at Yunho all I can hear is me begging him to claim me, which is insanity, pure and complete insanity,”
“Wait,” Wooyoung repeats again, hands up and out trying to get you to slow down, “I thought it was casual heat sex,”
“It was,” You resurface from your own panicked rambling and realize just how shocked the table looks, “what?”
“You asked Yunho to bite you?” Wooyoung asks, and when you nod he says, “and right now, how do you feel?”
“Fine,” You knee-jerk answer, “but, a little anxious I guess?”
“I don’t know how to explain this,” He says, looking to the two alphas for help who both shake their heads.
“Why do I feel like I’m missing something?” You glance between them.
“Okay,” Wooyoung claps his hands together, “listen, I have never asked Sannie to give me pups. I have never asked him to bite me, and I have never, ever, gotten all dizzy and sick when he’s not around.”
“Hey,” San grumbles, “I think she gets it,”
“I don’t,” You manage.
“What you had is a lot more than heat sex,” Wooyoung finally settles on, and your stomach drops.
“Woo,” You shake your head again, “no,”
“I’m serious!” He insists, “How else do you explain it,”
“You’re so dramatic,” You roll your eyes and reach for your drink, but find the glass empty, “it was good, really good, but that’s all it was.”
“He’s not wrong,” Seonghwa interrupts, his deep voice still calm and easy, “sometimes connections are just stronger. Scents match better, you know, everything just clicks. It doesn’t mean Yunho’s your soulmate, but if the pull is there, then there’s something there.”
You ignore the pull and flash him a weak smile, “Not for them.”
“Them,” Seonghwa corrects, “both of them?”
“I know,” You bury your head in your hands again.
“y/n,” San’s hand lays softly on your forearm, “no matter what happened, Yunho and Mingi are both still the guys from a few days ago. They’re still good men who care about you, even if that’s just as a member of the crew or a friend.”
“Can I ask a question?” Seonghwa interrupts.
“Sure,” You sigh, lifting your eyes to his.
“How do you know they don’t want you too?”
The question makes you feel awful, and you catch Wooyoung’s sympathetic look in your peripheral vision and nearly lose your composure, but the truth of it is simple. You clear your throat softly and straighten up, “They said so,”
“Oh,” He nods.
“And I’m not even sure I want them,” You tack on, “I don’t even really know them,”
Silence stretches at the table, and San’s eyes flick from yours to Seonghwa.
“Then let’s get another drink,” Seonghwa finally says, “let’s get your mind off it, and let’s have a good night. I know things are awkward at the studio, but don’t let them be. Just focus on the work and yourself and make some friends, and this whole thing will just be a funny story,”
You nod and sigh, “Okay,”
“Yeah,” Wooyoung offers, “a month from now no one’s going to remember,”
It’s around the third bar when someone brings it up again. You’re several more drinks deep, learning so much about the group dynamics that you can’t get while inside the studio walls. Wooyoung is quick to peel back all the layers for you now that you’re actually out with them and not just pushing it off a little longer for the sake of your wallet.
Leaning across the expanse of the table Seonghwa gets your attention with a drunken tap on your arm and his eyes narrow, “What’s this about you not being able to afford your suppressants?”
“What?” For a second his words don’t compute.
“Your meds, your suppressants,” He gestures, a little beer tipping over the edge of his glass, “why aren’t you on them?”
“I will be soon,” You lean in closer to hear each other over the music, “insurance window,”
“Ah,” He nods, “so what’s your plan next time?”
“Next time?” You turn your head so that his mouth is closer to your ear.
“Next heat,” He clarifies, a little slur in his speech, “while you’re onboarding,”
Your eyebrows shoot up at his words, “I don’t really know, I guess,”
“Mm,” He nods.
“Why?” You scoot your chair closer.
“I’m assuming you don’t want to,” His voice gets swallowed up by Wooyoung shouting something over the music and you shake your head.
“What?” You squint, shifting closer, bracing your hand on the table by his glass to steady yourself.
“Go back to Yunho and Mingi!” He all but shouts, “I’m assuming you don’t want to do that,”
“Fuck no,” You groan, “I’d rather take care of it myself than deal with feeling like this,”
“What about me?” He says and you laugh, but you don’t really know why. He clears his throat and shakes his head, sobering himself just a little, “Seriously,”
“What about you, what?”
He rolls his eyes, “Help with heat, I help Woo, San and I both do,”
“Oh,”
“Only if you need a hand,” He smiles, round eyes shining and kind, “or you know, a knot in this case,”
You clap a hand over your mouth and can’t help but fall apart into giggles, “You’re serious,”
He quirks his eyebrow at you, dropping his drink back onto the table so he can draw an X over his chest with two fingers, crossing his heart.
“What are you doing over there?” Wooyoung interrupts and your head snaps to the side, “Making a blood pact? You’re both trashed,”
“I am not trashed,” You insist, even though you can feel yourself slipping off the chair you’re on inch by inch.
“You’re allowed to be,” Wooyoung pushes a shot of soju towards you, “you’re broke and in love,”
“Wooyoung!” His words strike panic through you, “Seriously, stop that,”
“Alright, alright,” He throws up his hands, “broke and and in lust, whatever,”
San’s lips curl up in a half smile at his friend’s words. His eyes are closed, and he’s swaying a little from side to side, jerking back to center every now and again when his equilibrium feels too sideways. It’s entirely possible Wooyoung is the most sober one here and that thought makes you burst into laughter. San’s eyes fly open at the sound.
“I was offering my services,” Seonghwa cuts in, like he had been thinking about what to say that entire time and finally found the words.
“Your what?” Wooyoung laughs.
“For her next heat,” He explains, waving his hand like it’s simple addition, “my services,”
“Seonghwa,” San shakes his head sharply, “stop.”
“It’s not as if I’m with someone,” Seonghwa replies, holding San’s gaze intently, and for a split second it’s obvious there’s some kind of a backstory behind them all or their friendship or just Seonghwa himself that everyone knows and you don’t, but it isn’t the time to ask.
“Yeah,” San says a little gruffly, blinking hard to shake off the alcohol, “well, this still isn’t the time.”
Wooyoung wraps it up smoothly, “We’re all too drunk for this,”
“Exactly,” You take a moment of solace in the cup of soju.
“I mean it though,” Seonghwa tears his eyes away from San and a hand drops onto your knee, “you’re pretty, I’m pretty, just keep it in mind,”
There’s almost no way he’ll remember this tomorrow, so you let him off the hook with a smile and a hand on the side of his cheek, “Thank you, Hwa,”
“That’s what f-friends are for,” He hiccups lightly, and then you watch his eyes unfocus as the dizziness floods his vision and he drops his head unceremoniously onto your shoulder, “oh, God, I’m drunk,”
“There it is,” Wooyoung grins.
You slip forward as Seonghwa’s weight drops onto you and you brace yourself on the edge of the table, but San swoops in, “Come here, hyung, stop hanging on her,”
“Hmm?” Seonghwa’s eyes look tired when San gets him off you and over his shoulder, “Sannie?”
“Yeah,” San softens, “it’s just me,”
“I think I need to lie down,” Seonghwa murmurs, his head falling onto San’s ready shoulder.
“I know, hyung, I know,” San softens, and then turns to the table, “can we go?”
“Yeah,” Wooyoung stumbles as he gets up but then straightens, tucking himself under Seonghwa’s other arm once he gets his feet under him, “y/n, you good?”
You pull yourself up too, knocking back the final shot of soju so it doesn’t go to waste and pulling on your jacket, “Good,”
In the cool night air outside the bar everything gets dizzier, more watery and hazy, and something in your gut pulls hard. For a brief passing moment you wonder what Yunho and Mingi are doing right now.
San’s saying something and you shake yourself out of your stupor, “What’s that?”
“I said, where do you live?” He lets Wooyoung take more of Seonghwa’s weight as he turns his focus to you.
You give him your address, “I can call an Uber,”
“I live kind of close,” He nods, “let me take you,”
“You really don’t have to,”
“It would make me feel better,” San brushes you off immediately, “we’ve all been drinking, you shouldn’t be alone,”
“What about him?” You nod towards Seonghwa.
“I got him,” Wooyoung assures, “we live in the same building.”
“You sure?” San checks, “We can all go together,”
“It’s the opposite direction,” Wooyoung shakes his head, “and I’m tired, this just makes more sense,”
San nods and then checks on Seonghwa once more, “Make him drink some water, okay?”
“Yep,” Wooyoung salutes, rolls Seonghwa into an Uber, and then they’re gone.
Leaving you and San alone on the sidewalk.
“Let me get a car,” He says, shaking off some of his lingering drunkenness and pulling out his phone.
Of the three men, you talked to San the least. As the night had stretched on, you found yourself sidled up with Seonghwa or talking across the table animatedly with Wooyoung, but San seemed to give you a little space. He was also the one who commented the least on your recent sexual escapades and now standing in the middle of the street with him and him alone, you have no idea what you’ll talk about.
You watch as he types into his phone, lets it search, and then his nose crinkles, “Twenty minutes,”
“Oh,” You push up on your tiptoes to see his screen, “damn,”
He thinks for a minute and then sighs, “You want to walk a bit? I need to sober up a little anyways,”
“Sure,”
“Hungry?” His brows perk up.
“Definitely,” You smile.
“There’s places in our direction,” He waves you on, and you fall into lockstep with him as you wind out of the alley and back into the city streets.
It’s quiet for a moment, and you know one of you has to break the silence, but mercifully he gets there first, “You’re a good dancer, you know,”
“So are you,” You glance up at him, and he smiles.
He’s handsome, especially like this with his cheeks tinged pink with the night of drinking and his hair falling in his eyes. He directs you forward across an intersection and then looks down to keep talking, “You pick little things up really quickly, it’s impressive,”
“I appreciate that,” The alcohol seems to be less pervasive now that you’re out of the loud club and walking some of it off and you sigh, “honestly, I was staying late with Mingi a lot of nights. He was helping me catch up,”
“Ah,” San nods, “that makes sense,”
You keep walking. Normally you can get a conversation going without any problems, but with the alcohol and the late night and the fact that you really don’t know San all that well, you’re tongue tied.
He sighs heavily and looks at you, like he had been weighing whether or not to say something and finally chose to just do it anyway. “Don’t worry about what Seonghwa said,” He manages, “he was drunk, and I’m sure he wouldn’t have wanted to make you uncomfortable.”
“Oh,” Your stomach knots up, “he didn’t,”
“Good,” San nods, looking relieved, “he’s a good man, he’s,” San searches for his words for a moment, “not the type to proposition a coworker, that’s not what,”
“Oh!” It makes sudden sense why San was being so careful, offering to walk you home and trying to keep Seonghwa in check, “No, San, that’s not at all what I thought,”
“It’s not?” His eyebrow quirks up.
“No, I mean,” Your gaze falls away from him, “it probably should be, but I know he meant well. Plus, I know you both help Wooyoung,”
“Well,” San shakes his head, “that’s a little different,”
“Because you’re all men?”
He smiles, a little sheepish, “No, I was going to say because we’re old friends, but I guess there’s that too.”
“Ah,” You turn towards him, “well, really, you shouldn’t worry about me like that. Hwa was just trying to be a good friend, and I’m sure he won’t remember it tomorrow anyways,”
He sighs, relieved this time, “Good, okay,”
“Is that what you were worried about?” You ask.
“Between that and Woo practically interrogating you,” His nose crinkles again, “that part of your life is private, he shouldn’t pry like that.”
“I would have told him to stop,” You shake your head.
“I hope so,” He says, “I wouldn’t want you to feel uncomfortable with us after everything you’re dealing with. We like you in the crew,”
“You do?”
“Definitely,” He twists to meet your eyes, “you have fire. I saw it in the audition tape,”
Blush flushes your cheeks, “Thank you,”
“I’m just being honest,” He smiles.
You smile back.
It gets easier the more and more you walk with San. The alcohol slowly dissipates in both your systems, and after a few more blocks the idea of street food seems even more appealing. He refuses to let you pay and you only protest once, albeit weakly, before he gives you a simple shake of the head and takes care of things without another word.
It’s a thirty minute walk, especially at this meandering pace, but eventually you make it back to your block, and you don’t know what possesses you to turn the conversation back to Yunho and Mingi and everything it means but you do. He’s less shy to discuss it now, especially after enough time getting to know each other and sinking into a conversational rhythm.
By the time you make it to your apartment walkway, your corn dog is half eaten and your previous anxiety about talking to San is gone entirely. You gesture up to your building, “This is me,”
“Nice,” He comments, and then he takes a seat on your stoop and looks up at you, expectant.
“What?” You ask at his expression.
“You weren’t done, come on, tell me the rest,” He leans back against the railing, stretching out his legs.
“Right,” You remember yourself, flopping down onto the step next to him and running a hand through your hair, “where was I?”
“Yunho reminding you of your ex,” San prompts you.
“Ah,” You shake your head, “I mean not really, my ex was an asshole, but… I guess I didn’t know that for a long time. I thought he was nice, I thought he was the right guy.”
“And Yunho’s nice and the right guy?” He smirks.
“No, no,” You wave your hands, “fuck, I’m not making sense with this at all.”
“Can I guess?” San turns his body towards you a little more.
You nod.
“When your heat was over,” San’s expression is almost a little apologetic as he addresses it directly, “did you all agree it was just sex?”
“Yes,”
“And that you could all be adults about it?” He adds.
You nod again.
“And today you were all awkward as hell and avoiding each other?”
“Basically,”
“Listen,” San rests his hand on your knee, “I don’t know what your ex did or didn’t do, but they’re not that guy.”
“I know,” You sigh.
“But I get it,” San interrupts, “it feels like you had this connection and everything was good and now they’re pretending you don’t exist, and how is that different from any other guy?”
He has you there. You manage a nod.
“Well, I don’t know how they feel about you,” He offers, “but I promise you they’re just as embarrassed as you. It’s easy to say you’ll stay friends and that the lines won’t get blurred, but they always, always do.”
You study him for a moment, at the way he’s speaking so genuinely and it dawns on you, “You speak from experience, I’m guessing?”
He looks down and away, nodding before he brings his eyes back up to yours, “Yeah,”
“Woo?” You guess softly.
After an entire night of watching them lean against each other, touch each other, talk amongst themselves in their little bubble, you’re shocked when his mouth turns up into a sad smile and he shakes his head, “No, Woo and I have figured out how to make this whole thing easy,”
“Oh,”
“Wooyoung loves me, but he’s not in love with me.” San clarifies.
“And you?” You ask softly.
“He’s my best friend,” San says confidently, “and I’ll never let him be in pain,”
“But?” You nudge him.
“It was a long time ago,” He shakes his head and for the first time all night you know he’s told you a lie, but you let it pass. He shakes off the momentary lapse and continues, “but I know how you’re feeling.”
“Then how do I make it right?” You ask him.
“Sometimes you can’t,” He says honestly, “sometimes one person just feels so much more than the other, and you try to make it work until you bend so much for them you break.”
“I know what Woo said,” You shake your head, “but I’m not in love with them. I’m not.”
“I trust you,” San nods, “you know yourself better than Youngie.”
“It’s just this thing inside me,” You confess, and maybe it’s the alcohol or the lateness of the hour but you feel safer here on your stoop with him than you have in a long, long time, so you keep confessing. “I wish sometimes so much that I could just be a beta, that I could forget all about this and just know for sure. I’ve… never known anything for real and how am I supposed to trust anything I feel if my body just decides for me.”
He’s quiet for a moment, but then he says, “Being an omega is a beautiful thing,”
“Don’t,” You shake your head sharply, “I’ve heard that one all my life,”
“It is,” He insists, “all of it’s beautiful. Every part and piece of us is, alpha, beta, omega, all of it.”
“San, that’s not,”
“I know what you meant,” San says softly, sliding his hand into yours and giving you a squeeze, “and it would be easier to be a beta, and to not have to wonder every time. Does the person you like feel right because you like them or because something about them is a good biological match?”
“Exactly,”
“Believe me,” He squeezes you again, “I get it.”
Tears prickle in your eyes and you swallow hard to clear them, “Then how do I make this work? How do I go back to the studio and put this behind me?”
“Is that what you want?” He checks, thumb stroking along the back of your hand.
“Yes,” You sigh, “it doesn’t even matter how I feel or don’t feel, I can’t take that risk here,”
“The work is more important,” He finishes for you.
“Yes.”
“Then don’t let them in again,” San says simply, “not like before. Be friends, but keep things professional. Get some distance from this whole thing,”
“I have a feeling this is not the advice Woo would be giving me,” You smile.
“No,” San laughs, “Wooyoung would tell you to open yourself up to the great mystery of being loved or something,”
“And you’re not a romantic,” You smirk.
“No, no,” He shakes his head, “I am, but being a romantic doesn’t mean you have to let people hurt you. I’ve seen Woo get his heart broken a dozen times now, and he keeps trying. He’s the strongest person I know, and I love him for it, but it’s not the only way.”
“So what he said at the bar,” You tuck your unfinished food into the little bag and leave it to the side, “what he said about my heat?”
“I mean,” He shrugs, “y/n, this isn’t your first time. Don’t listen to him,”
“But Seonghwa,” You remember the way Seonghwa agreed, like a scent match was the stars aligning.
“Fuck them both,” San shakes his head, “just because you had a connection with them doesn’t mean they’re the only people you can connect with.”
Your eyes fill with tears again and he shakes his head when he sees your hazy eyes, brushing your jaw softly with his fingers. You swallow hard and sigh, breath hitching in your chest, “You know what’s funny about this?”
“Hmm?” He brushes your jaw again.
“I don’t even want to date right now, I just,” You shrug lightly, “I want to work. I want to have friends. I want to go out and meet people or stay in if I feel like it. I don’t want to sit on the couch pining or walk on eggshells at the studio,”
“y/n,” San steadies you, his voice low and calm, “listen to me, okay?”
“Okay,” You murmur.
“You have work to do, so focus on it. You have friends, including me, and Woo, and Seonghwa, okay? You come out with us… or don’t,” He smiles and squeezes your hand, “and the studio will feel weird for a little while, but trust yourself, it will fade.”
“It will,” You nod, “you’re right,”
He nods, holding your gaze a little longer until he gives you one more squeeze. San shifts back to give you a little space, his hands leaving you and clasping together to hang between his legs. He smiles, “Do you feel any better?”
“Yeah,” You run your hands through your hair and let out a long, tired exhale.
“Sobered up?” He checks.
“Mostly,” You nod, checking your watch, “but it’s so late I’m still going to be feeling it tomorrow,”
“Mm,” He nods, “we aren’t starting until eleven though,”
“True,”
The night is drawing to a close, you can feel it. You don’t really want to be alone with your thoughts again, but you’re also so tired you think you might drop on the spot, so you start to pull away and hope that you’ll be able to fall asleep the minute you hit the pillows.
He pushes himself up to stand and offers you a hand to help you to your feet, “Should I walk you up?”
You shake your head, “I got it,”
“I’ll wait until you get in,” He smiles and nods.
You make it two steps up before you turn back to him, “Thank you, San,” you tell him, “for everything tonight, really,”
He smiles wider, his eyes crinkling up and he nods again, “Don’t thank me, just remember what I said.”
“I will,”
“And y/n,” He calls after you as you start back up the path, “sleep well,”
“You too, Sannie,” You give him one last look before you push open your apartment door and start up the steps. He doesn’t budge, making sure you’re in the door before he pulls out his phone and starts his short walk home.
Coming home this time doesn’t hurt the same.
You hope for more of the same tomorrow.
You hope every day that it fades away, little by little.

♣︎ 2 MONTHS LATER
"No, stop. Yunho." You almost whine when you hear Yunho sigh on the other line.
"I'm sorry, my girlfriend typically calls me babe."
"No, you're not listening to me. I told you it was fine, I promise."
"Baby, I'm not missing your competition." He says lowly, sitting in the chair while him and his mom wait for her doctor to come in. Your competition fell on the weekend Yunho went home, his mom's important check-in with her primary care physician being scheduled on the same Saturday. He had originally scheduled her check-in for the week, but had to reschedule and open up clinic hours on Saturday due to an emergency that arose at home. Yunho already felt guilty enough that he wouldn't be able to accompany her during the week, so when the news broke that it had been rescheduled for the weekend, Yunho immediately drove home.
And you, being the sweetest and most understanding, hugged him tightly and wished them well. Even though at the bottom of his heart, he also felt guilty for leaving you knowing what the weekend held.
You reassured him over and over again that he didn't need to drive all the way back just to see you, but Yunho couldn't take no for an answer. The appointment was early on, and he knew he'd make it just a bit into the start of the competition. He didn't care if it'd tire him.
He just wanted to be there, too.
"I don't care if you do. Your mom needs you the most. My competition is just a competition."
"I know how much this means to you, though."
"There will be more, k? I promise there will be more opportunities for you to cheer me on." He sighs.
"Including this one."
"You're so stubborn." You half-heartedly scold him with a chuckle. "Go. Be with your mom. Please."
"I'll see you in a bit."
"Jeong Yunho." You give off a small groan, making him laugh.
"I love you." He says all loud and proud, making his mom silently chuckle off to the side while her son continues to show off his affection.
"Yeah, love you too. Even though, you don't listen to me!" You scold once more before hanging up.
"Ah, she's a piece of work." He mutters to himself as he does a head tilt.
"She's cute." His mom says, sitting on the chair in front of him, making Yunho chuckle.
"Hm, equally cute and a handful." Yunho leans onto his knees. "You're still okay with coming to her competition, right?"
"I wouldn't miss it for the world." She gives Yunho a sweet smile. "I hope she doesn't mind that we'll be there?"
"Of course not. She'd be happy to see you and auntie."
"Is her family going to be there, too?" He nods.
"You'll finally meet them." She laughs.
"I'm sure they're just as lovely as her."
At this point, the doctor knocks on the door a few times to signal his entrance before walking in, a bright smile on his face as he greets the both of them. The check-up carries on for close to an hour, where Yunho is listening attentively to make sure he's taking note of what to do to keep his mom healthy and comfortable. Towards the end though, he's satisfied with how everything turns out and he's happy to know his mom is doing well and is stable.
On the way out, he holds her by the arm, going over the visit and proudly reassuring his mom that she was doing great with taking care of herself and her health. He helps her into the car and makes sure she's buckled in before walking over to the driver's side and rushing over to the house to pick up his aunt. Once everyone is in the car and ready to head to the competition, Yunho makes a quick stop at a floral shop to buy you a bouquet. He shyly rolls his eyes and blushes when his mom and aunt tease him about it, his mom saying she rose him well and that you'd love the flowers.
When Yunho arrives, he sees a few people still trailing into the venue and it eases his mind a bit that he's not the only one walking in late. He gets lucky with parking in the main lot next door, careful to keep up a good pace that both his mom and aunt are able to work with. Getting inside, the competition has already started [as expected], but the group performing isn't one he's familiar with. Yunho holds onto the huge bouquet of flowers he bought, setting it onto his lap when they settle in a few open seats near the middle. He lets out a breath of relief when he quickly scans the program and sees that your group isn't up until later.
Overall, it's a pretty lively event and everyone in the crowd is cheering and roaring no matter what the occasion is on stage. It isn't a huge competition, and a lot of the groups are smaller than your own dance group; but everyone seems to be happy on stage and enjoying themselves. Yunho thinks that's all that really matters, and it's nice for people who have the same passion to get together for some fun, friendly competition.
Plus, he's enjoying himself because his aunt and his mom are— he truthfully was afraid it would be too loud or chaotic for them, but he feels relieved and a bit more comfortable. Everything moves so, so fast that the one moment he blinks, he finds the lights dimming before shining onto familiar faces.
He sees your familiar figure. Your friends.
He feels his heart beating out of his chest, the adrenaline rushing through his veins. He knows you and your friends will kill it out there and he's excited for the crowd to see what you have in store. He finds himself with a major death grip on the arm rests because he feels himself wanting to get up and cheer you on in the middle of the aisle [regardless of how embarrassing that may be, he doesn't really care]. But, he manages to stay still; though his eyes glow and are full of admiration.
He is utterly enamored by you, and Yunho's mom and aunt think it's the sweetest thing.
You gracefully and powerfully move across the stage and Yunho didn't know it was possible to fall in love with you even more. He finds himself cheering loudly, hoping you can hear him and see him from the stage, hoping you know he's there and will always be there to support you through anything. Because he wants to, and he loves seeing you happy doing what you love doing. When the piece finally ends, the crowd is incredibly hyped and Yunho immediately shoots up to stand and clap, flowers now resting on his mom's lap for safety measures.
"She's so good! They all are! They deserve to win this!" His aunt leans over to look at him.
"I know. They do." He smiles from ear to ear.
"Look at your ears, they're so red." His mom gently tugs on his ear. "You're so in love." She teases.
"And what about it?" He pouts and whines. "I just like showing her off. She's good everything she does, and I want her to know that." Lord knows Seonghwa didn't put in any effort to make you feel valued and reassured. He's not entirely sure how long you've been feeling that way, how long you've doubted yourself— but, as long as he's around, he'll make sure you never feel that way again. How could anyone ever compare to you?
"As you should." She smiles at him.
The rest of the show goes on just as lively and entertaining as it started, with a small break before winners are announced. Yunho is bouncing his leg in anticipation, eager to hear the results from the panel. It doesn't come as a surprise though when he hears two other groups winning second and third place because he knows. He just knows.
And he's right.
When the MC announces your group name for first place, Yunho swears he almost loses his voice from cheering. He sees you and your friends with happy tears streaming down your cheeks, and even though he believed everyone had a fair chance at winning today, you all truly deserved it. He knows how late you've stayed in the studio working on choreography, scraping an entire piece just to replace it with something 'better' even if it stressed you out doing so. There was no other group that showed the same dedication and passion as you and your friends, and he really, really wanted this for you all more than anything.
He can't wait to see you and hug you.
Kiss you.
old you.
Just be with you.
When the event ends, he's following behind his mom and aunt, keeping eyes on them to make sure they don't get lost in the crowd. He runs into your family exiting through the next set of double doors on his left and waves. Amidst the crowd chaos, he manages to say hi to your family and give them hugs before introducing his mom and his aunt— excusing himself shortly afterwards so he can run to the bathroom and be back before heading outside. It's a bit of a line, but Yunho waits patiently so he doesn't have to run off while he's with you. When he's done and making his way back outside, he still has to navigate through the crowds to get to your family and his family hanging out in an open area; almost running into another person just as he's about to make it over to the spot.
"Y-Yunho?" She almost comes face to face with his chest when she abruptly turns, trying to navigate her way through the crowd.
"Hayun?"
"Hey, nice to see you here?" She questions, unsure what Yunho would be doing here. It's been awhile, but from what she remembered, he was never into these things. She does a once-over and gives him a tiny smile, slightly ogling at how good he looks after all these years. He is glowing.
"Uh, yeah." He isn't really sure what to say since last time, she acted weird about seeing him. Maybe she had no choice but to greet him; she damn near ran straight into this chest. Still. It's a bit awkward, but it's nice to see she's at least well. "What're you doing here?"
"Well, I was on break, I'm leaving late tonight. My cousin performed with one of the groups. I don't know if you remember her, Soojin?" He nods.
"I do remember her. I guess she's grown well? I clearly didn't recognize her on the stage." She chuckles before tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
"What're you doing here?"
"My girlfriend competed, too. Her family's here, my family. She was in the group that placed first." He looks over his shoulder before looking back down at her.
"Oh, that's sweet."
"Yeah." He clears his throat. "Anyway, I hope everything's been good with you. I hope you have a safe flight back, too."
"Thanks, and same." She nods. "I hope your mom and aunt are okay."
"They are. Thanks. Should probably get back to them." He gives off a small smile and a curt nod before turning on his heel to find his family, your family and everyone else. He sees Chaery and Seungmin come out from the side door before you and Soobin follow. He can see you searching high and low for him and it makes his heart flip.
"Yunho!" You squeal when you finally find him in the sea of people. You instantly run over, jumping into his arms while he holds onto you tightly.
"There she is." He says. "Hi baby." He says against your head. Hayun smiles to herself when she sees the moment you two share, quickly reminiscing about the times her and Yunho had in the past. But, in the end, she's happy that he's found someone and that he's genuinely happy. Yunho deserved it.
"Hi." You giggle, pulling back slightly to kiss him on the lips.
"You did amazing, love." He gently puts you down.
"Did I?! Do these look like the steps of a first place winner?" You do a silly little dance, making him laugh before pulling you for another kiss.
"Yeah, they do. Steps from the best, actually." You laugh and playfully pinch his arm.
"Goodjob, Y/N! You did great up there!" His mom and aunt say, followed by your family. You greet all of them one by one, giving them hugs and thanking them for coming— especially Yunho's mom and aunt for tagging along. It seems that your family and his were already kicking it off, your dad offering for them to join dinner along with Chaery, Soobin and Seungmin's family.
"Yes, please come to dinner with us!" You squeeze his mom's hand with a smile. She nods and pulls you in for another hug, the four of you walking alongside each other while your family, Chaery's, Soobin's and Seungmin's walked ahead. You and his mom talk a bit about your dance journey as you walk along before you get into the car with Soobin, Seungmin and Chaery; letting everyone know you'll meet them at the restaurant nearby.
You assume most of your group will end up at the same restaurant, and it ends up being true for the most part. Once the four of you unload and start heading inside, you run into Yeonjun and Jongho with their families. The restaurant ends up escorting everyone to the back area where most of the tables are available for bigger groups, and instantly gets to work on providing drinks and small appetizers for everyone to enjoy while looking at the menu. On your left is Chaery, while Yunho is on your right; the both of them cracking jokes with each other while the families order the main courses for tonight.
"Yuyu, how do you feel about graduation coming up?"
"I don't know. Good, for the most part."
"Dude, it's gonna be so different! Have you already applied to internships and jobs?"
"Yeah, I have. Got a few interviews coming up in the next few weeks."
"Good shit!" Chaery claps. "Your man is gonna be so prepared for the world." She nudges you on the side, making you giggle.
"I know, right?"
"Seriously, it's nothing. I don't wanna have a huge gap. I just wanna get into it, I guess."
"That's really good, though. Do you plan to have a party or anything?" He cocks a brow up and points at himself.
"Me?"
"Yes!"
"No, god no." Yunho laughs. "I'm very much good off of a party."
"What if we threw you one at the apartment? Or took you out to the club?!"
"No, don't do that. I promise, I'm good."
"Babe, we're gonna have to at least do dinner or something." He looks down at you with a fond smile before placing a chaste kiss to the side of your head.
"If you want."
"It's your graduation!" You laugh.
"Yeah, and quite frankly, I'd rather much just spend the night with you doing other things." He says lowly near your ear, causing the heat to rise to your cheeks while you subtly nibble on your bottom lip.
"Cute, dinner sounds nice and cozy." Chaery adds. "But since you don't plan to celebrate with a party—" She leans over to look at her parents. "Mom, dad, Yunho's graduating soon! Can we order some dessert?"
"That's a good idea. Should we order some dessert to celebrate early?" Yunho's ears turn red as he shakes his head and refuses.
"No, no! It's okay! We don't have to—"
"Yeah, let's order some dessert!" Your dad agrees, along with the rest of the table. Your dad calls over the waitress to add dessert to the order for the entire table, reassuring Yunho's mom and aunt that they didn't need to worry about dinner [or dessert] tonight.
"Thank you." He says shyly.
"So, Yunho. Have you been getting ready for graduation and everything?" Yunho nods, essentially telling your family [and everyone else] what he told Chaery and how he just wants to get right into working after graduation. Mainly, Yunho wants to do this for his mom and aunt, but also for you. Because life includes you now; all about you.
Once the food arrives, everyone takes turns and rotates the dishes amongst each other before setting it down in the middle of the table for seconds and so on. Yunho doesn't even help himself first and decides to serve you some food before tending to himself. Dinner goes on happily, with everyone in good spirits and conversing in between bites about school and upcoming summer plans. Seungmin's dad mentions camping and how he wants to coordinate something for the group this summer, knowing the perfect campsite about 3 hours away that resides right by a lake. He invites Yunho, his mom and his aunt, reassuring them that they'd enjoy it over there, too.
Yunho slightly nudges you and smiles while drinking his water, leaning closer to you just as he sets the glass back down.
"Any other plans for the summer, love?"
"Not that I know of. Maybe I'll get myself a little summer job, too.
"Mm, maybe I can help fill the rest of your schedule up? If you're okay with that?"
"If you won't be too busy working!"
"I won't be. I'll always make time for you, you know that, right?" He gives you a soft look. "Plus, while we still have the time open, I wanna plan something and take you somewhere."
"Like where?" He shrugs.
"Somewhere where we can't drive to."
"Oh, like an actual trip-trip?!"
"Yup."
"Eep, where!" You squeal and he chuckles.
"I'll figure it out. Leave it up to me, hm?"
"I'm actually so lucky, it's insane." Yunho laughs a little louder at the compliment while shaking his head, digging into the last bits of his food.
"I feel the same. But, I really just wanna spend as much time with you as I can."
"Sounds like it'll be a good summer for us." You eat up the rest of your food before setting your plate aside nicely. "Babe, are you sure you're okay to drive after? Do you want me to come, or do you want me to drive your mom and aunt back?"
"I would never in a million years let you drive alone like that."
"But, you're tired." You pout.
"Mm, all worth it though. Cause we got to see you guys win, plus I get cake." You laugh.
"I knew you wanted the cake." He playfully shushes you. "I can come along, though!"
"No. Absolutely not."
"Why not?" You whine. "Just tell me you don't want me around, jeez." He smirks.
"That's never the case. I just know you'll be tired and I want you to rest. Promise I'll be good, okay?"
"Can I wait for you at your spot, then?"
"Of course you can. Yeo's gonna be home by the time we get back."
"Perfect, I'll bother him 'till you come." He gives you another big smile just as the dessert makes its way to the table. Everyone loudly cheers for the group's win today, along with congratulating Yunho for graduation coming up. You look at him in pure admiration when he blushes and respectfully thanks everyone for the cake and greetings.
And it's that moment when you catch the sparkle in his eyes, the glow, the warmth radiating from him. It's not that Yunho didn't have all these things in the beginning; they were there, just dim. Not as bright, not as warm. Over time, he's grown and blossomed into one of the most important people in your life, someone everyone clearly adored and cherished.
That might've been the moment that changed the trajectory of everything for you two because it finally clicked that he was who you wanted— back then, now, in the future.
You love Yunho; really, really love Yunho.
Everything about him brings pure love, genuine happiness and safety. Three important factors that you longed for in a relationship, but were never familiar with until Yunho came around.

The rest of dinner goes on well, with everyone fighting to pay the bill before it eventually settles between your family and Chaery's. Everyone walks alongside of each other before parting to their own cars and preparing to make their journey back home. Before you part ways with Yunho, his mom and aunt, you give them a big, tight hug before giving Yunho a quick peck on the lips. You look him dead in the eye and make him promise that he'd be absolutely okay to drive back and forth, and that he'd stay behind if he really couldn't make it back. He gives you a smug smirk, making you pinch him on the arm before bidding your last farewell to his family. You follow suit with your own family, your dad hopping into his car while your mom and sister drove together.
The ride back home is fairly calm, with Soobin in the driver's seat. There's the occasional bickering between Seungmin and Chaery, but otherwise, everyone is busy recounting the day and discussing the different groups and their pieces. Surprisingly, you're all still energetic throughout the entire ride; not one person complaining about being tired or wanting to catch up on sleep.
It does change once you finally arrive home and set your things aside, immediately putting the flowers into a free vase with some water. Soobin plops onto the couch face down as he claims he's exhausted from all the driving, while Seungmin sits on the floor beside him. You hurry into the bathroom and take a quick shower so Chaery can follow and get comfortable. You throw on some comfortable clothes and unpack your things and clean up around your area of the room before heading over to Yunho and Yeosang's for the evening. You say your goodnight's to your roommates before walking over, your Uggs making a loud noise as you drag them across the concrete. When you arrive at the unit, the kitchen lights are on, but you can barely hear a peep through the other side of the door. You knock a few times before Yeosang is coming to the door in his tank top and sweats.
"Hey hey!"
"Oh, hey! I heard you placed first! Congrats!" Yeosang pulls you into a hug before stepping aside to let you in. "Where's your boyfriend?"
"He's dropping off his mom and aunt, then he'll come back."
"They came to the competition, too?"
"Yeah, they did!" You respond as you walk into Yunho's room, with Yeo following and leaning against the door frame with his arms crossed tightly against his chest.
"Damn, what a drive. Sorry I couldn't make it. It was my baby cousin's birthday party."
"No, it's okay! You didn't miss much anyway."
"I missed my friends placing first, so yeah." You give him a tiny smile and shake your head.
"There's still next year. You have plenty of other opportunities to come when you aren't busy!"
"You're right."
"If you really wanna make up for it though, you can keep me company while I wait for Yunho." He laughs and nods.
"Yeah, of course. What do you have in mind?" He follows you out to the living room.
"I don't know. Maybe we can just watch a random movie? He'll be back by the time it's over, hopefully."
"Gotta watch a long one. Like Lord of the Rings or something. Star Wars. Avengers: Endgame."
"Ou, I'm down for some Avengers."
"Cool." You lay on the couch with the blanket wrapped around you while Yeosang sits on the floor, navigating through the movies before he lands on the Avengers. The both of you quietly begin the movie, with Yeosang reciting very random facts about the Avengers. You respond with follow-up questions, allowing Yeosang to do a deep dive. It's not until about an hour and a half in that you feel the exhaustion hitting you; eyes and body suddenly feeling heavy.
"You get what I'm saying right?" Yeosang asks, but doesn't receive a response. "Y/N?" He calls for you, only to turn over his shoulder and see you fast asleep. He chuckles to himself before returning his attention to the TV, turning down the volume so that it isn't too loud for you.
In the next 45 minutes, Yunho quietly walks into the apartment, seeing you fast asleep on the couch while Yeosang continues to watch TV on the floor— the movie no longer on. He smirks at Yunho before turning back to check on you, a silent chuckle leaving his lips.
"She's been asleep?" Yunho whispers while crouching to your level.
"Yeah, she fell asleep a bit ago. Didn't realize until I asked her a question about the movie we were watching and I didn't get a response." Yunho quietly laughs a bit. "I didn't wanna just leave her here, though."
"I'll bring her in. Thanks for keeping her company."
"You must be exhausted with all the back and forth driving today."
"Fuck yeah, I am. But, as long as my mom's happy and she's happy." Yunho smiles at you, brushing the hair away from your face.
"Alright, well, I'm good off of this show." Yunho turns to the TV seeing it randomly stationed a cooking show.
"Okay Chef Boyardee." Yeosang snorts before gently tapping the couch and standing.
"Gotta do better before we get into the real world, am I right?" He salutes. "I'm off." Yunho bids him farewell before returning his attention to you. You haven't budged, and Yunho can tell how exhausted you are by the way your lips poke out into a pout, soft snores in between each breath.
"Baby. I'm gonna carry you to the bed, okay?" He whispers. You let out a sound that makes Yunho giggle to himself before he scoops you up into his arms and holds you tightly.
"I could've walked." You suddenly blurt out.
"Dunno cutie, you were pretty knocked out." He smiles at you. "It's okay. You had a long day."
"So did you."
"I don't care about me, I care about you." He chuckles, gently laying you down on the bed. "I need to take a shower, I'll be back." You quietly nod and turn to your side, too exhausted to fight for him to stay and be needy. He heads to the shower and lets the hot water cascade down his body, feeling the exhaustion finally catch up to him. Although he tends to think he's pretty selfless, he didn't think he'd be driving from home to catch a performance, dropping his family off then driving back to the apartment all in a day. But, he couldn't care less because he wanted to do this for you, and he wanted to see you happy. There's nothing that satisfies Yunho more than seeing you smile.
He lets out a heavy sigh when he hops out and runs the towel through his wet hair, turning on the hair dryer to dry it off completely. He gets himself ready for bed, walking out in a plain shirt and pajama bottoms to finally slip in next to you. You instantly turn and throw your arm over him the moment you feel the bed dip, Yunho chuckling to himself when he pulls you close.
"Yuyu."
"Mhm sleepyhead?"
"You're graduating soon."
"I am."
"I'm proud of you."
"Thank you. I gotta say I'm proud of me, too." You both laugh a bit.
"What's gonna happen with us?"
"Nothing." He smiles. "I'll still be here. You'll still be here. I'll find myself a good job and hope I'll be able to provide for you more."
"You already give me a lot." You softly say, eyes still closed as you lay on his chest.
"Not enough."
"Hm." You hum. "You're enough."
"I appreciate that, love. But, you really do deserve the world and I'm trying to get you that, okay? Let me." You giggle.
"You're the best."
"Baby?"
"Yes?"
"You see us being together for a long time, right?" He asks, because even though he's confident in your relationship, he still likes to be reassured. Because god, does he truly see his life with you. It hasn't been long but there is not one bone in his body that makes him think otherwise. He wants to build with you, grow with you, be with you all the time. He wants nothing but you, and he's so, so sure of it.
"Of course."
"Even living together in the future and doing all that crazy stuff grownups do?" You laugh.
"Yes."
"Okay." He kisses your forehead.
"Do you want that with me, Yunho?"
"Yeah. I do, Y/N." You sleepily smile against him and hug him tighter, not wanting to let him go.
"I like that." He leaves a soft, feathery kiss against your lips before holding you closer than he ever could, shutting his own eyes to finally get some sleep.

[Wooyoung] Whooooo wants to go the bar with me friday night?
[Choi Jongho] Absolutely no one.
[Choi San] I don’t think that day will work
[Yunho] I’m busy sorry!
[Wooyoung] Bro... what about y/n i can always depend on you right
I’m also busy…
[Wooyoung] I miss work for one day and suddenly everyone has plans :(
[Kim Hongjoong] woo are you dumb
[Wooyoung] Wait a second
[Wooyoung] Oh my god.
[Wooyoung] You know what I think I’ll do a movie night instead! By myself!
[Song Mingi] i’ll join you
“Well someone’s happy today!” Wooyoung teases as you walk into the office. He’s been relentless everyday, spouting some combination of encouraging support and playful jabs.
“10 hours,” you sigh as you sink down into your cubicle. Your workload was easy enough this week, but you kept getting distracted easily, the mere thought of making things ~official~ sending you into daydream mode. Wooyoung always snapped you out of it with a lighthearted jab, you knew he found it just as funny as you did.
“You know if he does anything you don’t like-”
“You will all yell at Yunho so he never hurts me again, I know,” you cut him off. Every single one of them has pulled you aside or privately texted you to express just how much they’ll defend you if anything happens.
He only chuckles, “I just wanna make sure you know! He’s a really nice guy, but things happen, I don’t know.”
“I can fend for myself, but I appreciate the backup,” he nods and gives you a genuine smile.
“I’m so excited for you guys, really! His last relationship didn’t end terribly or anything, but he’s such a romantic person I was hoping someone deserving of him came along.” He sounds more serious now, and it hasn’t really crossed your mind what Yunho would be coming to the table with. You’ve been so focused on how much you’ll have to explain about yourself. “Please don’t break his heart, okay?” Wooyoung makes one last quiet request before turning to his own screen and settling into work mode for the day. You don't respond, but you repeat his words to yourself mentally. You won't break any hearts this summer.
You started getting ready almost immediately after getting home, risking no chance of running late. The place he picked out wasn’t fancy in the slightest, so you went light on the outfit, a nice denim skirt and cute top. The plan didn’t necessarily include either one of you coming home for the night, but you tidied up the living room just in case. You didn’t really mind the thought of him in your apartment anyway.
The road you live on is fairly quiet at this hour, so you figure the next car you hear pull up to the building must be him. You take one last look in the mirror before grabbing your bag and nearly jumping down the stairs. It still didn’t feel real in your head, such a perfect person being into you as much as you’re into them. Intrusive thoughts of how quickly you could sabotage the date only flood your mind briefly before you open the front doors and spot Yunho standing against his car.
“Are you ready?” he beams at you, holding out a hand to help you into the front seat.
You giggle and accept the offer, “more than I’ll ever be.”
The interior is all sleek black. It doesn’t look brand new, but it’s clean and orderly. It smells like him. You fidget with the hem of your skirt as he rounds the car and settles into the driver’s seat.
“Anything in particular you want to listen to?” You tilt your head at the question, and he quickly adds that it’s okay if you don’t.
“No I like listening to music, I’m just not sure what I should show you,” chuckling, you whip out your phone and scan through your playlist. Yunho has mentioned a few of his favorite songs in conversation, and seeing as neither of you were particularly picky it shouldn’t be so hard to find something. You make up your mind and press play.
“Fun,” he bops his head to the beat, occasionally tapping a finger on the steering wheel. The car ride is mostly silent between you two, and you can’t tell if he’s just as nervous. Ever since San told him your feelings, he’s had a new aura around him. He’s playful and teases you to no end, like the rest of them, but surely he must be giddy too? Maybe he has more experience than you thought.
The hostess guides you to a small window seat, but by now it’s completely dark outside. She hands two menus to you before tending to the next reservation, and you settle into the booth. You had mentioned in the car that you like knowing what to order beforehand, and Yunho offered to order it for you, so you had nothing to do for the next few minutes. If the way his eyes rake over the laminated sheet means anything, he must be starving. His hair is parted down the middle, somewhat pushed out of his face, and his face is scrunched cutely in concentration. He’s wearing a button down and slacks, but it doesn’t look so formal that it stands out. He’s good at looking effortlessly put together.
“Good evening! Can I get you started with some drinks?” A waiter appears in front of your table, directing all his attention to Yunho. You expected as much, and gladly let him take the lead.
“Actually I think we’re ready to order!” He takes one last look at the menu before reciting both your orders perfectly. Once he’s sure the waiter has them down correctly and is out of earshot, he lets out a long sigh.
“That didn’t upset you, did it?” He frowns a little, “I don’t know why he didn’t even acknowledge you.”
“Oh no it’s fine I promise,” you take one of his hands into your own, “it was a shitty move but I hate speaking so it works out in my favor.”
“As long as you’re fine,” he sighs again and squeezes your hand. No one’s ever really noticed that before, at least not while you were on dates. You always subconsciously clocked it as some form of sexism but never made a fuss, so seeing Yunho so distraught is a foreign feeling. You’re eager to change the subject.
“So what made you like me?” Smooth, definitely not too direct at all.
“Oh?” He chuckles, “I thought I already told you why when we were at the park. I feel so comfortable around you, and you’re really good at what you do. It’s admirable.”
“That can’t possibly be enough to have a crush on-”
“You’re incredibly pretty, too,” his hand that was sitting in yours pulls away to rest on his cheek, tilting his head playfully, “I’ve been wanting to kiss you since you arrived.”
You stare, shocked, as the waiter comes back to drop off complimentary water and a promise of food coming soon. He only grins, stirring the ice in his cup with a straw before taking a sip. This wasn’t the shy, polite man you originally liked, but his teasing only makes you want him more.
“Too forward?”
You shake your head a bit too aggressively, almost completely ruining your hair, “No no no, I have too! You’re really cute.” No amount of talking could help you recover from how flustered you are right now.
“Aw,” fluttering his lashes, “so that’s why you like me?”
“I mean you’re also just really nice and observant of everyone around you,” you start fiddling with your own cup, “I guess I just felt comfortable with you, too.”
“Good to know the feeling’s mutual,” he breaks his teasing act and chuckles, and you can only manage to nurse the ice cold water in front of you. “I’m sure the guys have bugged you a lot so I don’t know what you know, but it’s been a long time since I’ve liked someone so much. It’s nice.”
His ears are that familiar bright red again, “are you nervous, Yunho?”
“Only a little,” he blushes even more at the question, rubbing his ears a bit and giggling, “are you?”
You nod, “I got dumped earlier this year and I wasn’t planning on doing anything this summer, so yeah. A little more than you are.”
“Why did he dump you?” A face of genuine confusion washes over him. It’s not that he thought it was a red flag, he just couldn’t think of a single reason anyone would abandon you.
“Ah, she just,” you sigh, wondering how much you should share. If you were a good person, you’d tell him everything. You’d tell him what your heart really desires and why your friends were being so mean that night you spent in his apartment. You’d be transparent about what you want out of a relationship, because that’s what first dates are for right?
“Sorry for assuming!” He shakes his head, “you can continue, though, I promise.”
“I think she just grew apart from me, I don’t know? We spent all of college together, but I think we were going in different directions.” He nods understandingly, and you feel a ping of guilt in your gut.
“Yeah that happens. I had a girlfriend my freshman year, but we ended up not having a lot of overlapping interests or anything. Conversations fizzled out quick.”
It’s your turn to nod, and Wooyoung’s words rattle around in your brain. Yunho’s a romantic, someone who puts his all into everything, including relationships. You could tell as much just seeing how he interacts with his friends, but hearing the disappointment in his voice scares you. The slight guilt you felt has grown into a consistent, dull ache of anxiety.
“Have you seen anyone since then?” You shuffle a bit in your seat, your breakups lingering in the air.
He nods, chuckling, “a few flings here and there, but nothing substantial. I don’t really love hookup culture, but I haven’t found anyone I really like.”
“Until now!”
“Right! Now I have someone I want to impress. She’s so pretty and nice, I just want to take care of her.” He stares at you fondly now, still blushing from his round cheeks to the tips of his ears.
“Oh really?” You trace the rim of your now empty cup with one finger.
“Mm, all my friends like her too. I think she’s perfect for me.”
“You’re so corny,” you laugh, slapping his hand. The anxiety fades as quickly as it appeared.
Your waiter might have the worst timing imaginable, because not even 2 seconds later does he plop a large slab of steak in front of Yunho. “Sorry ma’am, your meal will be out in just a few minutes!” You nod and watch him scurry back to the kitchen. When you turn your attention back to Yunho, his eyes are wider than you’ve ever seen in your life.
“Do you mind if I eat first?” He doesn’t look up at you, but you tell him it’s fine and watch as he instantly tears into his dinner, nodding excitedly at the first bite and shaking a fist as if he’s won the lottery. Your dish arrives a few minutes later as promised and you dig in as well, falling into a comfortable silence. Bits and pieces of conversations around you pass by, waiters rushing back and forth, a TV quietly playing golf highlights at the bar. You don’t want the night to end.
“This is your place right?” He pulls up to the curb and turns down the music. The car ride home was comfortable, both tired after some of the most filling and delicious meals you’ve had in a while. Fresh anxiety pooled in your gut at the thought of leaving him now.
“Do you want to come inside?” You offer and he’s smiling at you like he thought you’d never ask. “We could play games or something?”
“What games do you have?” He turns the car off and unlocks the doors, turning as much as he can to face you.
“I have a switch! I can start up Mario Kart or something,” his eyes sparkle at that, and you smile at your successful plan.
“Are you any good?”
“Better than you I bet,” you raise an eyebrow. He copies your expression before silently getting out of the car, and you follow. He doesn’t say a word as you lead him up the steps to your apartment on the second floor, or as you slink into your living room and settle in. You boot up your switch and download Mario Kart, and he only grins at you from his side of the couch when you hand him a controller.
“If I win,” he starts, eyes trained on the screen as he selects his kart setup, “I get to kiss you.”
You lean back into the couch and lock in your own kart, “deal.”
You tried your best, you really did. It might’ve been your best effort in the history of owning this game, even. But Yunho placed first in all four races easily, and by the last one he was so excited he barely waited for the scoreboard to appear before throwing the joycon to the side and grabbing your arm.
“This isn’t fair! I didn’t know you were a pro at this,” you argue, letting him move you with ease, thighs fully touching now and one arm slung around your shoulders.
“It was completely fair,” he chuckles just above your head. You look up and see his signature crooked smile plastered across his face, annoyingly proud of his own victory. His other hand comes up to cup your cheek.
“And now I get my prize.”
This time you’re prepared. It lasts longer than the kiss at the subway, his movements slow and intentional. His soft lips melt against yours and you feel his grip on you tighten a little, but it’s innocent. This time, you don’t let him pull away, though. Your hands wrap around his neck and you kiss back, leaning into him. He lets out a small, cute gasp before accepting you, and it all feels so natural. His lips moving against yours, your skin running hot beneath his hand, your leg against his. He tests the waters and swipes his tongue across your lip and you quickly respond, gripping the hair at the nape of his neck. He moves slowly and curiously, as if he has all the time in the world to explore you and he wants to spend every last second of it. But when his hand traces down your side to rest on your hip you know you need more.
“Lean back,” you finally pull away. He listens immediately, eyes glazed over with infatuation as he watches you swing one leg around him and sit comfortably in his lap. Your skirt rides up to your hips and his hands rub the newly exposed skin of your thighs, sending goosebumps down your legs.
“You know I really didn’t have any intention to sleep with you on the first date,” he mumbles, but you ignore him. You lean down and press soft kisses up his neck, purposely hitting every pretty mole on him, before making your way to his ear.
“Third,” you correct, “and it doesn’t matter, because it’s my intention now.” You feel his grip on you tighten even more and you continue to work your way painfully slowly down his neck, from one side to the other. He lets out shaky sighs at every small nip and suck, hands now fervently roaming around your body, squeezing any skin he can find. His fingers slide beneath your shirt and you can feel him make quick work of your bra, pushing you up just enough to slide both garments off.
You swear you feel him twitch beneath you, and he makes no effort to hide the way he takes in your exposed body, “where’s your room?” You can barely hear him, not when you’re so focused on the marks you’ve left on him and his blown out look. When you don’t respond, he pulls your hips forward, grinding against you. “Baby, your room?”
“The door with the poster on it,” you sigh at the friction. He wraps both hands firmly around your ass and stands up, effortlessly carrying you to your bed. He places you gently on the edge before nearly ripping off his shirt and pants, leaving nothing but the impossibly large tent in his underwear. You don’t have time to take in the sight, his large frame quickly maneuvering on top of you.
“I’d usually be more calm, but you’re so beautiful I can’t help myself,” he whispers, making his way down your neck. His kisses are aggressive and sloppy now, but just as slow as you were on him. His dick is pressed flush against your thigh, but when you try to roll your hips for some relief he presses you down with a firm hand. “Let me have my fun, love.”
All you can do is whine his name, fingers tangling in his hair as he sucks on your skin. At this point your clit is throbbing, heat spreading through you at every touch of his, but you know if you move again he’ll only get meaner. Part of you wants to try.
“Can I?” You feel slender fingers hook under your skirt and panties, and when you only whine his name again in response he takes no time pulling them off you.
“Yunho please,” you feel like you might start crying if he doesn’t touch you soon.
“So pretty for me.” He drops the last of your clothing on the floor behind him. “Did I get you this worked up already?”
Your legs falter a bit at his words, but he keeps his broad chest in between them, spreading you wide enough for his liking. You want to beg more, but he must read your mind because before you open your mouth his tongue is flat against your heat. He’s teasing at first, kitten licks with little pressure, but when you genuinely moan for the first time he gets to business. One hand wrapped around your thigh, the other makes its way below his busy mouth. Two fingers glide in, setting a slow and steady pace that only builds you up more.
He pulls up only briefly, fingers still going, to take in your blissed out state. You look back down at him at the loss of contact, but he only smirks, “I want you to watch me, love.”
All you can do is nod, struggling not to throw your head back into your covers as he goes back down. His long fingers brush against all the right places, his tongue flicking in perfect time to your building orgasm. He doesn’t speed up or slow down, he just keeps going until he feels your plush thighs clench around either side of him. You mumble his name over and over as it finally washes over you, feeling him lap up every last drop and holding your hips close to him.
“Fuck,” Yunho sighs, finally sitting up and letting your legs lay flat.
“How are you so good at that?” You prop yourself up on your elbows. Your head starts pounding a bit, but you still want more.
He chuckles and turns behind him, searching through his slacks left abandoned on the floor, “I told you I’ve had hookups every so often. I’m not clueless, you know.”
“I need to see what else you can do,” you tease, and just as you say it he produces a metal condom wrapper, grinning.
“Well you’re about to, if you’re up to it?” You almost ask why you wouldn’t be, but then you see it. You’ve only taken a few dicks in your life, but his was certainly the largest. He pumps a few times waiting for your response, parting his lips at the feeling.
“Yunho,” you mumble, taking in the sight. A thin sheen of sweat already covers his forehead, cheeks and chest a light shade of pink. He’s staring back at you, taking his bottom lip between his teeth as he etches your form into his memory.
“Is that a yes?” You nod and he slips the condom on before leaning back down over you. He kisses you again, as deep as humanly possible, and lines up with you. “Promise me you’ll say something if it hurts, okay?”
“I promise,” you smile up at him and he kisses you again, entering softly. You’d be lying if you said it didn’t sting, but it’s only for a second before you’re pulling him closer. He thrusts in again, fully burying himself this time, and you feel him groan against your lips.
“You’re perfect, you know that?” He sighs above you, setting a steady pace that has you digging into his shoulders. He drops his head into the crook of your neck, leaving open mouthed kisses on your hot skin in between his panting. You can’t help the stream of moans and curses that leave your mouth, you’ll have to deal with your neighbors’ complaints tomorrow.
One of his hands snakes down to your thigh again and he slows down to readjust. He leaves one last sloppy kiss on your jaw before straightening up and pushing your legs back, folding you in half. You grip the sheets until your knuckles pale, but nothing could prepare you for the feeling of him bottoming out in this position. He pistons into you, strangled breaths leaving his lips. You grab a pillow and bite down as hard as possible, it’s the only thing stopping you from screaming at the top of your lungs.
He gets sloppy quickly and you nearly orgasm at the sound of him groaning your name alone, voice deep and broken. His hips stutter, slamming into you one last time before he collapses on top of you. You both take deep breaths in tandem, recovering slowly and rubbing circles into his skin. He presses gentle kisses along your neck until he finds the energy to get up again, giving you a squeeze before sliding out.
“Did I wow you?” He jokes, discarding the condom and wrapper and finding a small towel to clean up with.
“Mm, I don’t know. Might have to try again,” you laugh, “there’s more towels in the bathroom across the hall.”
“We can in the morning baby,” his laughter is the last thing you hear as he disappears into the hallway. He quickly returns with a fresh wash cloth and a cup of water for you. You hold out a hand for the cloth, but he waves you away, cleaning you up himself. It’s so natural and careful you almost completely forget he was a stranger just a few weeks ago. You almost forget how temporary this all is.
“Don’t you need to get home?” you take a sip of water and hope it helps the dull headache from being jostled around.
He scoffs at you, genuinely surprised, “are you kidding me?”
“I just didn’t know if,”
“If I was joking about having you in the morning, too? Let me cuddle you to sleep or so help me god,” Yunho turns the lights off and flops onto the other side of your bed, tugging your arm. The longer you wait, the more he pouts and tugs, but eventually you give in.
You can’t help but leave small kisses all over each other as you lay entangled in the dark, neither of you wanting to fall asleep yet. His energy is overwhelming, heart beating softly against your cheek, thumbs rubbing small circles into your arms. You think this is the first night since you’ve arrived that you won’t end the day worried, that maybe this was the best possible way your night could’ve gone. Maybe the next few months will be okay. Maybe you should get some sleep.
And then you wake up, and he’s gone.

Jeong Yunho : Monster (Part 2/2)
Pairing : Jeong Yunho (Ateez) and named character (Shin Ye-rin)
_________________________
Tumblr media
Yerin rushed into the hospital, tears streaming down her eyes and sweat covering her entire body despite her having driven the entire way in an air conditioned car. She had no idea how she had driven while being in this state, but she had.
Yerin stopped in front of the receptionist's desk, breathing heavily as she asked urgently
Yerin : j-jeong yunho, which room is he in?
Receptionist : may I ask what your relationship with the patient is, miss?
Yerin let out a shaky breath, knowing well enough that only family would be allowed inside. She had to lie.
Yerin : wife, I'm his wife.
The receptionist nodded, telling yerin the room number. She rushed towards the room, her tears not stopping even for a second. She was scared, she had never felt so much fear in her entire life and she never wanted this to ever happen again. If something happened to yunho, she had no idea what she would do.
Yerin banged the door to yunho's room open, her eyes immediately landing on yunho who was sitting on the bed with bandages wrapped around his stomach and his arm, a nurse checking his IV.
Yunho flinched at the sound of the door opening, the nurse looking forward as well. But he was alive, yerin thought, he was alive and he was fine.
Yunho : yer-
Yunho cut himself off with a small gasp as yerin ran towards him, crashing into his arms as she hugged him, sobbing into his shoulders. The nurse smiled before leaving the room, leaving yunho and yerin alone.
Yunho blinked in utter shock as yerin continued crying into his shoulder, her body shaking.
Yunho : yerin.
Yerin : I thought…I thought you…you were gone, yunho. I-
Yerin cut herself off with yet another sob as yunho sighed and wrapped his uninjured arm around her waist, whispering softly
Yunho : it's okay, I'm fine now.
He had no idea where all this gentleness was coming from, he had no idea why he wasn't holding his care back as he always had when it came to yerin. But he couldn't care, not when yerin was being like this.
Yerin : but what if you weren't!
Yunho : yerin-
Yerin : I told you it would be dangerous! I told you this would hurt you someday!
Yunho : yerin-ah, shh, it's okay. This-
Yerin : it's not okay! You may not care about me but I care about you! I can't see you hurt like this yunho-
Yerin paused as yunho pulled her away from him, cupping her cheeks as he whispered
Yunho : no, no shh, stop crying first, hmm?
Yerin shook her head, small sobs still falling from her lips as she whispered shakily
Yerin : I was so scared.
Yunho : I know, I know and I'm sorry, okay?
Yerin : but-
Yunho : look at me.
Yerin sniffled shakily, clenching her hand on the hospital sheets as she scanned the bandages around yunho's bare upper body. Yunho tapped her cheek with his finger, trying to being her attention back on his face.
Yunho : no look at me, yerin-ah. Eyes, right here.
Yerin finally looked at yunho, her sobs now being accompanied by small hiccups as well. Yunho wiped her tears as he said
Yunho : it wasn't them, it wasn't han. I was just being careless, yerin-ah. This was only an accident, it was my fault. But I'm fine now, okay? I'm right here, I'm not leaving you.
Yerin just continued staring at yunho, her brain not being able to understand how yunho was being so gentle with her. But how couldn't he? Yerin looked so lost, so scared when she entered the room. Her fear and her cries had scared yunho too, and he could do anything to make it all stop. Including being his true self in front of her.
Yunho : don't you believe me?
Yerin didn't answer yunho, which only meant that she didn't yet believe any of this. Yunho let out a breath and took her trembling hand in his, placing it against his chest. Yerin's eyes widened at the contact, realizing with a start that yunho wasn't wearing anything to cover his upper body, he was only wearing his pants. But she felt it, what he was trying to make her feel, his heart beat. It was hammering against his chest, against her touch.
Yerin : yunho.
Yunho : I am not incapable of human emotions, yerin-ah. Maybe for others, I am. But you…you make me human. You make me feel things I've never thought I could before.
Yerin : I'm sorry.
Yunho : what must you be sorry for? You've never done anything wrong, yerin-ah, you can never do any wrong.
Yerin sniffed, pressing her lips together to stop her from crying further. Yunho spread his arms as he whispered
Yunho : come here.
Yerin wrapped her arms around his neck carefully, resting her head against his shoulder as yunho laid his arm securely around her upper body.
Yunho : I'm sorry for scaring you like that, I should've been more careful.
Yerin : it's okay, it's fine as long as you're alive and safe, yunho-ya.
Yunho smiled, inhaling deeply as he rested his head against the top of yerin's head.
Yerin : yunho?
Yunho : yes, sunshine?
Yerin smiled at the nickname as she whispered
Yerin : don't you wanna tell your mother?
Yunho : no.
Yerin : wouldn't she be worried?
Yunho : if she doesn't know about any of this, why should she be worried?
Yerin sighed, knowing there was no use talking about any of this to him right now. She didn't want to do anything he was uncomfortable with right now, not when he was in this state. And so yerin nuzzled her head deeper into yunho's chest before saying
Yerin : don't let go.
Yunho smiled, running his hand along her hair as he whispered
Yunho : I won't, I never will.
___________________________________
Yunho groaned as he rested his back against the headboard of the hospital bed, wanting yerin to come back from the cafeteria as soon as possible. She had left a few minutes ago, saying she needed to get something to eat for the both of them. And yunho didn't really stop her. He was hungry too anyway.
Yunho was about to reach for his cracked phone when he heard the door opening, his head shooting upwards thinking it would be yerin. But it wasn't, instead it was someone he didn't want to see right now.
Han : yunho-ya, hello.
Yunho's face turned blank as he realized who it was, his eyes turning cold as he said
Yunho : han.
Han chuckled and closed the door, walking towards yunho as he said
Han : I came as soon as I heard you had gotten hurt.
Yunho : how did you come to know of that?
Han : well, I have my ways.
Yunho clenched his hand on the blanket, realizing han was probably trailing him. Either that, or…
Han : are you okay now, not wounded too much, are you?
Yunho : I'm…fine, it was just a few scratches.
Han : hmm, would you need some days off? You know, to heal and stuff?
Of course he wanted to know when yunho would get back to work.
Yunho : just a day would be enough, after that I'll get back to your case as soon as possible.
Han : that's good then. Also-
Han cut himself off as the door to the room opened once again, this time a smiling yerin coming into yunho's view. His eyes widened, suddenly remembering about her. Shit, not when han was here.
Yerin : yun, I-
Yerin cut herself off as her eyes landed on han, who just smirked and said
Han : well hello there, prosecutor shin.
Yerin's eyes darkened, her smile dropping completely as she kept the bags aside and said
Yerin : why are you here?
Han : oh? Why so harsh already. We finally meet, anyway, I've heard a lot about you.
Yerin : of course you have. When do you leave, again?
Han chuckled, looking back at yunho who was trying to tell yerin to stop through his eyes. It clearly wasn't working.
Han : she's quite feisty, is she not, yunho-ya?
Yerin : so you're that close to him now? To be addressing him like that, choi han-shi?
Yunho : yerin-
Han : you must be close to him too, to be calling him yun.
Han looked at yunho with a crooked smile, yunho's heart racing at that. Han was understanding what was going on between yerin and yunho, which wasn't good for anyone.
Yerin : we went to college together, of course we're close enough.
Han : that's not what yunho told me the other day though?
Yunho closed his eyes, feeling all his walls and lies crash down. Yerin chuckled, leaning against the wall as she said
Yerin : you asked him about me? You must be keeping eyes on him then. So much for trusting your partner, mr choi.
Yunho : yerin, stop. Step outside and come back in once he leaves.
Yerin : why must I? I'm the one paying for this room after all.
Yerin nodded towards han and said
Yerin : you, get out instead. You have no place here.
Yunho shut his eyes as han chuckled and stood up, walking towards yerin as he said
Han : so much arrogance for a mere prosecutor.
Yerin : I can put you in jail if needed to, and you'll be able to do nothing about it because the money that you would put out would be nothing compared to the ones that I can give people.
Han : of course, you have all that generational wealth. After all, you were his only daughter.
Yerin smiled and shrugged her shoulders, not taking her eyes off han. He seemed so little in front of her, and he hated it.
Yerin : something like that. So don't try me, choi han, because we both know it won't end well for either of us.
Han smirked and nodded, turning back to face yunho as he said
Han : take care of her, yunho-ya, who knows the amount of trouble she might get herself into?
Han gave a small wave to yunho before stepping out of the room, closing the door behind him. As soon as he was out of reach, yunho huffed as he said
Yunho : what the fuck is wrong with you, yerin! Do you not know who that man is?
Yerin : he's choi han, CEO of the choi construction group, what about it?
Yunho : he's a murderer, yerin, you told me that before. Why didn't you just leave when you saw him!
Yerin : you think he's going to murder me, then? Yun-ah, he doesn't have any reasons for that. Especially when he knows who my father used to be.
Yunho : he does have a reason.
Yerin : which is what, exactly?
Yunho : me, he can use you against me.
Yerin : I would never do anything against you, yunho.
Yunho : not like that. He can…god, you're my weakness, shin yerin. If I do something that troubles han, he can use you to threaten me. And in that way, he can cause you harm-
Yerin : yunho.
Yunho : no, you don't understand! I've tried so hard for all this time so that you don't get hurt. But-
Yerin : yunho, it's okay-
Yunho : if any harm comes to you because of these choices that I made, I could never forgive myself.
Yerin stepped closer towards yunho, shaking her head as she said
Yerin : no, no I'm going to be fine. Nothing going's to happen to me, yun.
Yunho : you don't know him, you don't know the things han can do-
Yerin cut him off as she laid her hand on his cheek, whispering softly
Yerin : shh, nothing's going to happen to me. I'll be fine, yunho.
Yunho : how do you know that!
Yerin : yunho, have you been the way you have been to me all this time because you were afraid han would find out and use me against you?
Yunho looked away, suddenly growing silent. Yerin shook her head as she turned yunho's face back to face hers and said
Yerin : I need to know, tell me the truth, yunho.
Yunho : yes. Yes, that's why I acted the way I did.
Yerin : you're so stupid, you know that?
Yunho : yerin-
Yunho cut himself off as he felt yerin's lips press against his, yunho's body freezing in shock. Yerin pulled back as she whispered against his lips
Yerin : I've loved you since I was 19, jeong yunho. And I've loved you for the past 7 years.
Yunho looked up at yerin, his lips pressed together. He felt his heart break apart, and then heal itself. This was what he had wanted to hear but was also afraid of hearing. But it didn't matter anymore, did it? Han already knew about the both of them so what was the point.
Yerin : you don't have to return my feelings-
Yunho : is that why you think I held myself back from you so that you don't get hurt?
Yerin : w-what?
Yunho : it was torture, yerin. Wanting to say things to you and then not saying it because I was scared of hurting you, it was pure torture for me. But I still held myself back, because I'd rather torture myself than have to ever see you hurt.
Yerin's eyes filled with tears once again, her hand clenching. Yunho smiled and laid his hand against yerin's cheek before whispering
Yunho : if that isn't love, I do not know what is.
Yerin smiled and hugged yunho, rocking him as she said
Yerin : I've waited a decade to hear this from you.
Yunho : and I've waited a decade to say it.
Yerin chuckled and pulled back as she said
Yerin : whatever happens, we're going to face it together now. Whether it is han, or his dead father, or whoever it is, I'm going to be with you.
Yunho was about to say something when yerin placed her index finger against his lips and shook her head before saying
Yerin : this is my choice, and I don't intend to ever change it. Your life's mine now, yunho. You cannot hurt yourself without hurting me anymore.
And yunho supposed he could live with that.
___________________________________
Han let out a breath, thinking about what he had said to shin yerin a few hours before
"You were his only daughter after all"
Yerin was a trouble in han's path, he always knew she would be, someday. He always knew he would have to get rid of her the same way he got rid of her dad once, using the very weapon that he still possessed. And now he had summoned that weapon of his as soon as he reached home, because he couldn't wait any longer.
Jeong yunho was always just a pawn in his play, but this pawn was slowly growing more powerful as days passed and han had been unaware of it, until today. And at the same time, he had forgotten about shin yerin. But now they were both together, and that could cause han and his empire, it's downfall.
And he wasn't going to let that happen.
Han looked up as a lady entered his leisure room, her cat-walk fit for runway shows and her pencil skirt hugging her curves beautifully. And with her blue cat eyes, bold red lips and red hair that was tied into a sleek high ponytail, she could do anything she wanted to anyone. Which was exactly what han required to kill the two most powerful people that were capable of causing the same amount of damage han could cause.
??? : you called for me?
Han : Shin Ae-rin, it's time you do what you've always wanted to do. Your sister's being quite the headache for me now.
Aerin smirked at his words, clasping her hands together behind her as she said
Aerin : of course, father.
