CW AND TW: CHILD DEATH
Say.
Tumblr media
Their.
Tumblr media
Name.
Tumblr media
Nex Benedict was a indigenous trans nonbinary teenager. Their head was beaten against the floor in a bathroom stall. Less than 24 hours later, they died, most likely from undiagnosed head trauma. Conservatives say they want to, "protect the children", where was the protection for Nex? That's the thing. There wasn't any. Nex died. And many more trans, queer, and nonbinary minors will if we don't step up and do something. What happened to Nex has and will happen to queer folk around the globe. Say their name.
Edit: I didn't expect this to get much attention, but thank you everyone. What alot of people, "forget" to mention was that Nex was two spirited, which means they were indigenous. The fact that I wouldn't have heard about this if I didn't have Tumblr is absolutely revolting. News needs to be covering this. But what are Republicans doing? Sucking their thumbs and crying about how, "trans people shouldn't be able to piss". What are Democrats doing? Twiddling their thumbs and groveling to an old geezer that somehow falls up the stairs and supports I$r3@l. It's disgusting and America needs to do better.
Edit 2: Any and all hate/saying that Nex Benedict wasn't murdered (they were) will immediately get deleted, just because you don't like trans people doesn't mean you can be an whiny little bitch. A child was murdered. This has nothing to do with politics, a child was murdered.

‘We’ll end up with a death’: Queensland police commissioner puts vigilantes on notice
Katarina Carroll says mob of people who surrounded Rockhampton house on Sunday were acting on incorrect information
Queensland’s police commissioner has warned there could be fatal consequences if vigilantes continue to take the law into their own hands in response to youth crime.
Katarina Carroll was speaking after a mob of 30 people surrounded a home in Rockhampton on Sunday following a social media post accusing two teenage residents of criminal activity.
The commissioner said she was waiting to be briefed about whether any charges would be pursued against those who attended the scene, who were acting on incorrect information.
“The stuff on social media is pure speculation,” she said.
“What we have is a group of people going to people’s houses for this issue, and the information is wrong.
“So be careful. What we’ll end up with is a death. We’ve seen that before. What you see on social media is not evidence and the people feeding this don’t have the skills or the knowledge or the information that police have in doing their jobs.”

With halo untarnished
A saint via Midjourney Well, well. It seems Saint Jacinda, current Prime Minister of New Zealand, is retiring. Five years is enough in the top job and the tank (sorry, battery) is empty. There’s a lot be said for ‘finishing on your own terms’ with halo untarnished. I wonder if it has much to do with the forthcoming election where Ms Ardern’s party is expected to be kicked out? But that’s just…

A recent report found that the number of youth arrests for violent crime continued to decline in 2020 and was down 78% from its peak in 1994. Don't let sensationalist media tell you crime is at all time highs.

An Update on Brianna Ghey
tw // extreme transphobia, hate crime, violent death, death of a child
Tumblr media
If you're unfamiliar with Brianna Ghey, you can read up on the story here or watch this overview. There's been multiple updates, and I wanted to let people know about the most important ones.
On February 4th 2024, the two originally unnamed teenagers— the 16-year-old boy now identified as Eddie Ratcliffe, and 16-year-old girl now identified as Scarlett Jenkinson —have been sentenced to life in prison for the fatal stabbing of Brianna (x).
On the day of her murder, February 11th 2023, Brianna took the No 28 bus at around 2pm to meet up with Jenkinson (who brought Ratcliffe along without Brianna's knowledge). The two led her to a path on Culcheth Linear Park, where she was stabbed to death with a hunting knife (x) that Ratcliffe provided. Although both parties would later blame the other in court, it's important to note that Ratcliffe was the only one with blood found on his clothes. Brianna was stabbed a total of 28 times in her head, neck, chest, and back (x). Not long after, Jenkinson posted this to her snapchat account.
Her murder was premeditated weeks in advance (x), with the pair plotting their attack against Brianna (x), who was anxious and rarely went out alone. They'd previously attempted to kill her before, although those plans ended up failing (x).
Prior to her murder, she'd sent a message to her mother saying "I'm on the bus by myself. I'm scared." To which her mother had replied that she was proud of her attempt at going out alone. Unfortunately, Brianna never got to read that text.
Thousands of text messages have leaked from the two killers, where Ratcliffe misgenders and demeans Brianna, and Jenkinson details her obsession with Brianna.
➡ When Jenkinson sent Ratcliffe some selfies of Brianna, he replied, "Is it a femboy or a tranny?"
➡ After Jenkinson expressed that she thought Brianna was prettier than her, Ratcliffe had said, "Prettier but it's a boy."
➡ Jenkinson had texted him on Whatsapp, "I'm obsessed over someone I know but don't have feelings for them... She's called Brianna... I don't know how to explain. She looks like a girl, she sounds like a girl, she's really pretty." To which Ratcliffe replied, "Tell me what you feel when you interact with it. I don't think you're necessarily in love but I think you're more curious and intrigued by its unnatural nature." (x)
➡ After their initial attempt to kill a different student failed, Jenkinson suggested that they stab Brianna instead. Ratcliffe agreed, saying "Yeah, it'll be easier and I want to see if it will scream like a man or girl."
➡ Jenkinson discussed wanting to take Brianna's "pretty" eyes as trophies, and Ratcliffe said "Really all I want to see is what size dick it had."
➡ During the trial, when asked by the prosecutor why he used the terms "it" instead of "she" for Brianna, he said that it was a "joke" and that he had picked it up from other people.
Despite all of this, Cheshire police are still adamant that Brianna's murder was not motivated by transphobia (x), because "...If it hadn't been Brianna, it would have been one of the other four children on that list." This is further corroborated by Detective Inspector Nigel Parr of Cheshire Constabulary, who led the investigation. Outside the court, he claimed that "this was a senseless murder committed by two teenagers who had an obsession with murder, whose only motivation in killing Brianna was to experience what this would be like." (x)
The headteacher of Birchwood Community High School has claimed that she spoke to Brianna's mom who "confirmed that Brianna was not bullied at Birchwood and always felt well supported by the school," and that Brianna's mother had given her permission to share that (x). This is despite multiple of Brianna's friends, and Brianna herself (x), saying the opposite (x).
The two killers are eligible for parole in 20 and 22 years. I can only hope they atone for the harm they've caused Brianna's family, the trans community, and everyone else affected.
I hope one day we can live in a world where being trans isn't a death sentence. Where major news outlets can report on trans victims with respect (x). Where anti-trans hatred spewed by TERFs and radfems, right wing politicians and conservative talk show hosts no longer hold such an influence in the world.
We will be able to live as ourselves one day. Without fear. I just wish Brianna could be here to see it.

~~Reserved Crime Au with @demon-blood-youths~~
Everyone knew who he was. They all feared him and his name. Now who could that be you ask? Well, his name is Ryomen Sukuna A.K.A the king of curses or the Disgraced One.
Within New york, he's well known to be the most dangerous and powerful man on earth. Not to forget, he was filthy rich. Billions to Millions of dollars under his hand where no one dares go against him. He's also the head leader of being sure other criminal underground gangs/fractions/yakuza gangs/organizations etc didn't do something to get them caught or worse; him. They knew the punishment if they did.
He was seeing things going well in his town and things were calm. Or almost. Right now, he got a message from one of his underdogs speaking about some activity in one of his hidden clubs downtown.
From the report, he read some of the police have been getting complaints that it could get his business noticed in a bad way. Turns it it involves human trafficking. Now, he couldn't have that can he? So, he was having his driver take him to the club as he was looking ahead, his red eyes looking ahead as the street lights pass.
"....." Sukuna was going to stop the problem himself since the other idiots didn't get it. After a few moments, he encounters the club as the car stops to see him get out and goes for Sukuna to open the door stepping out. It was cloudy this night too. What a pain. He looks to his club seeing the lights not flashing, the music was off leaving a dead silence from inside but he goes to walk towards it. No one else was here but he only raised a eyebrow to keep walking and goes inside. From in, it was a mess. Seems whatever happened left a mess and a bloody one.
He was walking forward with some back up following him with guns to ensure no one would attack him. Though, Sukuna didn't need anyone to protect him since he can do that. Or get lapdogs to do it. He keeps walking to wonder what happened touching a table with blood on it.
"........" This was indeed going to alert the police.
"You." He sees one guard walk over.
"Yes sir?"
"Get a clean up crew in this place. I don't need the police trying to run this place out. Be sure it's done and nothing left. Understand?" He asked seeing the guy nod nervous.
"Yes sir." He said going to do that. Sukuna watches him go with the others to call a clean up right away. Before he turns to lead, his eyes noticed one of the back doors open showing a body but their was grunting noises. "....."
Which he and his group heard. They wonder where or what made that noise before hearing a loud gun shot. They got Sukuna to go to the door to check it out with the others following him. He goes down some stairs to hear the noises more clearly now. Was their someone still here? The heavy smell of copper was present as he keeps walking to get to the bottom.
Seems the report was right, a yakuza gang had taken over his club and was in the work of human trafficking. He wonders if the remaining Yakuza was here that made him annoyed to know. He walks down the hallway seeing a main room that must be where it started.
He walks over with his guards to see them waiting to attack but giving the signal, one kicks the door down to aim but tense seeing inside. Sukuna looks but was quiet to see. The whole room was soaked or drenched in blood, bodies of the dead Yakuzas were there. Some had bullet wounds, others had things stabbed into them, their eyes ripped out or bodies hidden. However, that's not what caught Sukuna's eyes.
Their was a young female there standing in the middle, she was holding one of the dead Yakuza members shirt while panting heavily. She was covered in blood from head to toe, looking like she snapped and killed everyone here. He heard her heavy breathing like a wild animal that just completed a hunt. The others got scared seeing her but keeps their guns aimed as Sukuna looks to walk inside.
"Mister Ryomen, wait!" One said loud enough by mistake that will get them noticed.

I know you already received an ask saying basically the exact same thing but. I'm angry for Nex Benedict. And I'm scared for myself. Nex was 16, which means I'm fucking angry they didn't get any longer. Nex was 16, meaning I'm fucking terrified because I'm 15. Nex was Native American, which means I'm angry people won't address that when there's no way it wasn't a factor. Nex was Native American, meaning I'm scared because I'm aboriginal Australian. Nex faced violence, harassment, and bullying. I'm mad about that because its unfair and its cruel. It scares me because I have faced all of that too.
Nex was just a kid who loved their cat. And loved The Walking Dead and Minecraft. That sounds like me. That sounds unjust.
Nex should have lived to follow their dreams as an adult, to graduate school, get a job, maybe even get married. But they didn't get the chance, because they were murdered for being trans. What Nex went through was horrifying and unjust. No one deserves to go through what they went through. We will not forget their name.
