remember a decade or more ago it became fashionable for celebrities and influencers to wear metal band jackets, punk, goth, type stuff? then there were a number of people understandably making fun of it because of this ironic disconnect. like yeah man uhhh arianna grande is super into skinny puppy I'm sure dude. don't get me wrong I'm sure some people criticising that were using that as an excuse to express their own deep seated pee pee poo poo. I feel like it mostly got a pass though, it seemed to be the general consensus that they were being asshole gatekeepers. anyway now you have this shit everywhere man. popularised this apathetic borderline fake interest in something because it looked cool or so and so wore it/mentioned it
