I have a ton of shit where it's formatted as text convos and shit between the derpos becauseeeeeeeeeee yes lol. (Legit tho, it is fun and it's a good way to also flesh out characters, like what kinda shiz would they talk about through text convos? Marital status: Not married but i’ve been in a relationship for 3 years :)

Funniest memory: Lol i can’t of any, how sad it that? I mean what I can think of though is this time in first year, I was having a really rough day and I just wanted to come back to my dorm, have a bowl of Lucky Charms and sulk. But when I got home, I had no milk and literally burst into tears LOL my roommate was laughing at me and I was laughing at myself but like damn i was so sad about that milk OH WAIT I THOUGHT OF ANOTHER ONE LOL there was this guy that i liked in my senior year - we had known each other since grade 9 so like we were super great friends, but there was something about him in senior year that i was like damn he so sweet and i like him. anyways so we been flirting and all that shit, and i was the stage manager for that year of our school play (the trial of Ebenezer scrooge i think it was called) and he played one of the christmas ghosts. he had to have all these chains and emerge from the trap door so normally, he had someone else help him up from that trap door. The person who normally helped him was sick for a day so i helped him out. Anyways down there, he finally was like hey btw i like you and we had that whole talk about liking each other and it was cute. Anyways so apparently from the seats in the audience, you could kinda see into the trap door, and my friends were out there being like “omg we can see your heads...are yall kissing???” “omg where did your heads just go??? WHATRE YOU DOING DOWN THERE” - it was hilarious i love my friends and him lol they were great

Most touching memory: There was this girl in my high school, she was super sweet and great. I left for a year for some...reasons LOL, and when I came back, all my friends had moved on to finding better friend groups. I was going back into that school for my senior year feeling super alone and sad, and this girl who i had barely talked to in my other years messaged me being like ‘i know that your friends kinda moved away from you but i just wanted to let you know that if you ever need anything im here and id love to hang with you’. Like damn she made me so happy - i definitely didn’t feel as alone as i thought i would.

Favorite childhood memory: eh i dont remember my childhood lol blacked it out due to bad memories

Favorite thing about Tumblr: FANFICS :D damn yall so creative and shit. It’s real bad though cause now im like fully in love with fictional characters and i have no clue what to do about it LOL

I just wanted to say 1) I love your art, it’s super good! 2) the BOOMER HCS AND YOUR HCS IN GENERAL LIKE YO THEIR QUALITY 😔👌 Like I get excited when I see you post about your hcs about them and the recent ones really hit hard like the story and dynamic just AHH it’s so good! Yo bitches,

So I'm obsessed with Asian dramas right now and I've been binging them when I have time (I am still working a crazy amount). I need some recommendations for ones with male leads that are super possessive/obsessive over the female lead. I'm also into a good reverse harem.

For instance, I really enjoyed Well Intended Love for the cutesyness of it, but when the twist came in episode 10 I was completely hooked and so into it, it made it so much better and I legit squealed. I put a pause on Cinderella and the Four Knights cause it was not going the way I wanted and I needed a break.

I was tagged by @hardworkingprocrastinator aka @rupru-russiaxprussia whom I do believe I ranted with about the Imperial Pair ship, and the unexpected potential of Si Yang x Qi Ying… so thanking you kindly for another excuse to rave about ChinaPuri… sooo uhhh time for some fun times!!

Tagging: I have 0 idea who to tag because we a smaller fandom

Warning: I have not watched or read the original manga/anime soooooo I’m in an even smaller subset of the fandom babeyyyy!!! It has also been a couple months since I watched the show, so there is a strong chance I’ll have forgotten names and situations, and just general thoughts I have... BUT WHATEVER time to rant to the thirteen people who’ve watched ChinaPuri!!!

Answers: THIS ISH GETS LONGGGGG SO CUT OFF NOW

1. Favorite character(s)?

MU SI YANG BABEYYYYY!!! I already love a stoic glasses boi, but Mu Si Yang (again not TeniPuri Tezuka, just ChinaPuri Si Yang) may be one of my favourite takes on the stoic glasses boi… like I don’t often enjoy live action versions of anime, especially because the acting is never the best (and granted this one too, had some okay performances) but the guy who plays Mu Si Yang melted my heart… he was the stony-faced serious captain, who could deliver a subtle joke that left you snickering… but he was also the determined, earnest, crazy talented leader with his own hidden struggles who just wanted to take his team and friends as far as they go into competition… which is an essential part of any good sports drama… and he captured it so perfectly… and I love him.. he’s so beautiful too… I would fall in love with him in a heartbeat, and I don’t often say that about characters (like I love them but never in love ya dig?)

Zhou Zhi was a close favourite…basically I just love the two genius senpais…

2. Favorite school team(s)?

Oh god… Yu Feng maybe? We spend the most time with them, they have the most screen time of all the other teams…we have a whole training arc where they’re continuously winning against the struggling to evolve Yu Qing…very reminiscent of the Karasuno-Nekoma rivalry in that they help each other get better… I would’ve loved to see the rivalry/camaraderie develop even more so that when Si Yang leaves, the relief at having this network of tennis friends would’ve been that much more powerful…

Also I really enjoy Xu Ziping’s hustle… I love the story of Yu Feng…they had a shitty coach and had to make a deal to keep winning in order to even remain an official team… and when Yu Qing faced Yu Feng, I really couldn’t tell who I wanted to root for because I knew there was real weight behind every loss for Yu Feng…

After that, maybe No. 6… they’re so chill, they’re not straining for each win and just enjoying their time on the court…and the Old Coach dude was a great character to introduce...

3. Favorite coach(es)?

Maybe No. 6’s coach… I legit can’t remember his name but he oozes skill and experience without all the stress of younger coaches who bend over backwards for success… and while, again, the circumstances surrounding his appearance was a bit waffle-y in execution (which is about par for live action adaptations), I love that he serves as a sage outsider who can assess in three seconds what kind of player Lu Xia is, and what he needs to do to improve… I love me a good wise character who still knows how to inspire people in a fun way but you never, for a second, doubt that what they’re saying is legit advice, even if their mannerisms are goofy…

4. Favorite supporting cast member(s)? (characters who aren’t regulars, aren’t on tennis teams etc.)

Oh I mean…Stretcher Bros for life amirite? They were great…they were just hanging out, trying out.. Huang Jing is kinda jerk-ish, but he’s the starting antagonist who turns out to have a pure heart and a genuine love of the sport (kinda like Tsukishima Kei from Haikyuu!! or the GoMs from Kuroko no Basuke)… and Xiu Wen is such a soft boi who wants to shower in peace without girls being in the locker room…

Put these two besties together forever…and I just love how cuddly they are with each other…no hesitation to hold hands or hug…it’s gooood

5. Favorite original character(s) in the adaptation?

Um…idk who’s an original character??? Again never watched the original anime/read the manga!

SO IMMA CHANGE THIS TO FAVOURITE SHIP!

5.5. Favourite ship? (Get ready my friendsss issa long one)

Si Yang x Qi Ying my friendssss… a super unexpected pairing that came outta nowhere!!! Because the trailer clearly shows (or maybe it doesn’t and I forgot) that Lu Xia and Qi Ying are gonna be THE THING but then we get hit with the surprise senpai-kouhai/team manager ship and I’m like uhhh were you planning this or am I reading into it too much???

Like y’all they were flirting right in the beginning… that whole bit where she stands outside the change rooms and Si Yang confronts her, and she begs him to add Lu Xia to the team (even tho he already did) and he was weirdly teasing her about the roster when he had no reason to, and she was kinda bantering back with him and she fully called him out later on… i was like, umm this is a vibe

They just kept getting thrown together in weird ways…aside from Lu Xia, she’s probably had the most interactions with Si Yang of all the other team members… she’s the only one he calls Xiao~ like the boys in the tennis club have their nicknames like Dachi, Ah Mu, Ah Yan, but only Qi Ying is Xiao Ying!! he’s not a nickname guy… and maybe if it were a girl/cheerleader thing, you’d think he’d call Peng Xiang, Xiao Xiang BUT NO… only Qi Ying gets called Xiao Ying!!!

AND ANOTHER THING: other than Lu Xia, he’s the only one concerned for Qi Yang, despite what he says, when she gets caught in the rain and gets sick… he fully visits her in her room, and receives the call about her health after they send her to the hospital… he says everyones worried BUT YO they’re straight up just bored and end up having a pillow fight…sooooo can’t be that worried…

AND ONE MORE THING: Qi Ying, I get she’s this weird mascot/team manager figure on their team (even tho she’s meant to be a cheerleader but they never invite Peng Xiang to any of their team dinners or their training camp) BUT WHEN SI YANG RETURNS HOME, THEY SEND IN QI YING TO GREET HIM and they have this whole charming convo where she teases him...and they were chatting as if they always had this banter going on but they’d only talked like 3 or 4 times on screen before then, so there’s this whole relationship she has with the tennis team (not just Lu Xia) that is implied but we don’t really see it! And when she teasingly calls him Captain Si Yang after he returns to China, he had the softest smileeee!!! HE TOTALLY DOES HAVE A SOFT SPOT FOR HER!! He didn’t want her to think he wasn’t happy to see her... and then she leads him to their surprise party in the club room and he just keeps saying Xiao Ying… like damn you keep trying to establish the Lu Xia x Qi Ying ship (and it is a decently strong ship) but Si Yang x Qi Ying is soooo good!

I…I think this is obvious… NEXT

Jk… other than Si Yang, I really enjoyed the guy who plays Lu Xia - Peng Yu Chang… he played the typical “stoic, super talented/genius sports idiot” type prolific in sports anime (like Furuya from Daiya no A, Kageyama from Haikyuu!!, Midorima from KnB)… but he was never too stuck in his head, and he was never mean… too often there’ll be a moment where this type of character is played too seriously, gets stuck in their own head, and lashes out at anyone they deem getting in their way, especially when they feel they’re stuck in a rut… which Lu Xia is in, for essentially the entirety of the show, in one form or another…

But PYC played Lu Xia as this mildly cocky, but still incredibly enthusiastic young genius who is looking for the next big challenge so as to further himself, but is so obsessed with this one opponent (his dad), that he can’t see the bigger picture and realise his entire way of playing is a mirror of the very opponent he’s trying to overcome… but even at the height of his stagnation, he’s never mean to Qi Ying, who tries her best to support and encourage him… while he does distance himself from the team, it’s not an active dismissal of their assistance or support… he can play a straight faced comic when embarrassed/discombobulated (like Si Yang when faced with Yan Juice), but also always participates in most of the weird antics his team is up to… and it never feels OOC and thats clearly a result of Peng Yu Chang’s subtle acting…

ALSO PENG YU CHANG IS IN OUR SHINING DAYS, A SUPER UNDERRATED CHINESE FILM THAT HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL TO BE ADAPTED INTO LIKE, A ONE SEASON SHOW AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU WATCH IT

7. Favorite singles match?

Oh pfft… please… PLEASE IS THERE EVEN A QUESTION it was arguably the best match of the whole show, it was what we were all waiting for, a super tension filled, super hyped up match because it features my favourite character, who has simultaneously been promoted as THE BEST PLAYER ON THE TEAM but also super injured and avoiding over-exertion… MU SI YANG…against his personal rival, whom had never tasted defeat before, and subsequently trained like crazy, throwing all of the money at professional players, FOR A YEAR, in order to be ready to face him… JI JING WU

That’s right baby, its the Imperial Pair Match (I do hope I’m using all these nicknames correctly..I just tried to pick them up from the anime/manga to save time writing out their names XD)…

This match is everything you ever want in a match…it’s a gritty, no-holds-barred, all-out, clash-of-titans-style face-off between probably the two most talented players in that whole (province? Prefecture? Idk China regional names) BUT YEAH THESE TWO ARE CLEARLY TOP TIER PLAYERS WHO FINALLY GO HEAD TO HEAD… it’s a year in the making, Ji Jing Wu is in peak physical condition, but Si Yang is not…and yet we see Si Yang powering through the literal agony of an arm injury that threatens complete destruction of not only his tennis career, but his general usage of that arm… and for glory and to bring his team to the national stage, Si Yang lays it all on the line… and he still gives Ji Jing Wu a run for his goddamn money… he matches him hit for hit, and at one point he was even WINNING…and had it not been for his arm, I swear up and down that he would’ve beaten Jingwu…

BUT THAT’S NOT EVEN THE BEST PART… i mean, all sports anime and just shounen anime in general have those moments where the characters are down and out and summoning the power of friendship and determination to their side to go above and beyond the physical limitations of their bodies… NO THE ACTUAL BEST PART WAS JI JINGWU’S RESPONSE TO THE WHOLE SITUATION

The goddamn respect he gave Si Yang.. this is his rival, the only person he’s ever viewed as equal and even superior to his own skills (at least as far as people the same age as him go)… Jingwu wants to beat him so bad… and he’s heard the rumours about Si Yang’s injury, and he even sees for himself how bad the injury is… but as a skilled player who recognises skill himself, he does not do Si Yang the disrespect of going easy on him… what kind of arrogant prick has that kind of nerve to give less than their best to someone who is giving them 120% effort… no, Ji Jingwu doesn’t hesitate to hit back full power, even as he’s yelling at Si Yang to stop before his arm is utterly destroyed… because the last thing any person of talent would want, is to see another person lose such an incredible gift… but even worse than that, have that person realise someone was going easy on them... it was so goddamn beautiful… and when Jingwu grips Si Yang’s hand and raises it high because he and everyone there knows who the real winner of that match is…they all know that they just witnessed something incredible, and he wants everyone in the stands to not only acknowledge it… but remember it…

And then he proceeds to fund Si Yang’s surgery, his flight, his meals, his rehabilitation, AS WELL AS take care of his team… and if that isn’t love, idk what is… like they don’t even disguise the hard core DEDICATION AND LOVE... Jingwu has obsessed over Si Yang for a year and it goddamn shows

Honourable Mention: I really enjoyed Zhou Zi versus the demon child whose eyes go red…we finally get to see Zhou Zi stretch his legs and push himself and I LOVED THAT… like he’s actually trying his best and that’s dope… also the match against the captain of the team his little brother his on… he basically led this cocky motherfucker by the nose for 5 games, pretends to be losing, and then destroys him in the following 7…

OH AND I GOTTA SHOUT OUT MY OTHER GLASSES BOI YAN ZHIMING VERSUS HIS BEST GUY FRIEND FROM YOUTH… that was a beautiful evolution of Ah Yan transcending but also evolving his data tennis against his childhood friend and it feels good ya know?

8. Favorite doubles match?

Oh pfft anything with the Rival Pair… they bicker like cat and dog, but then you put them on the court together, and suddenly their chemistry is through the roof… also Baiyang and Qiao Chen are a stronger couple than Qiao Chen and Yu Xing Zi and that’s the damn tea

9. Favorite story arc?

Oh man… ummm training arc with Yu Feng was fun but it was definitely beaten out by the “village raises a child” arc when Si Yang leaves, so literally all their previous opponents step up to encourage, train, or otherwise intimidate Yu Qing into giving it their all, improving, and ultimately winning the finals… plus this arc gave so much depth to the network of teams who all have the same aspirations, in the end, and want to push forward the people who beat them to not let their loss be in vain…and that’s pure…

10. Most amusing tenipuri scene(s)/moment(s)/running joke(s)?

Yan Juice... especially the first time NEXT

11. What did you like most about the adaptation?

It captured the essence of a good sports anime: power of friendship, ridiculous action sequences of outrageous moves that would never be allowed in real life, determination and guts is all you need to succeed, that all-or-nothing mentality of high schoolers who suddenly have tunnel vision and no future thinking whatsoever, and decide to risk life and limb for one match… plus it kept a charming and comedic beat running throughout, really endeared you to the characters, and their struggles... AND NO ONE WAS MEAN... well I mean Ya Jiuxin was an angry bitter jerk for a hot second, but he ended up being endeared towards the lil fluffball kouhai of his, and we all know he loves Xinglong in his heart of hearts... other characters like Jingwu, or demon child, or Zhou Yu’s captain were cocky or arrogant, but they were never mean to each other, and respected each other’s game play even if they were defeated.. a couple were poor losers, but they didn’t throw a fit or try to get revenge or anything like that... everyone, in general, had some decency to them, and in fact all of Yu Qing was a super nice...sometimes too nice and self-deprecating that you wanted to smack them...

12. What do you think the adaptation could have improved on?

This is mostly just a consequence of live action adaptations of sports anime where they have to condense a whole lot of story that is already condensed from the manga into a palatable show that anyone, not necessarily pre-existing fans of the original source, can enjoy… the story around the characters seemed waffle-y and disjointed… sometimes things would happen but wouldn’t connect smoothly to the next thing that happens… there was this whole implied close relationship between Qi Ying and the team that just was never shown… I would’ve preferred they made her an official manager, so it would make sense that she’d be so close to the team, when for whatever reason, Peng Xiang wasn’t…even tho they’re both cheer captains…

The match sequences were cut down a little too much (tho I get why)… I would have loved that final training arc to be extended, to fully flesh out how discombobulated Yu Qing was when Si Yang had to leave, and how forcefully the other teams picked them up and got them better… so to develop the dynamic between the teams before this would’ve been good, but obviously they can only got the core actors of each team at a time… hence that barbecue scene… but if they’d pulled off something like the Haikyuu!! Tokyo training arc, or even something like in KnB where the teams were thrown together in wacky hijinks or impromptu match situations to develop their camaraderie (and they sorta tried to but nothing really came of the interactions), it would’ve made the final training arc THAT MUCH MORE heartwarming and I would have cried..

AYYY LEO! I honestly cannot remember when we started interacting, but I really want to say it’s because we met each other via that one KHR Discord server that was up like a year or two ago. Never trust in my sense of time-- but I think it was like 1-2 years ago.

I feel like that’s where we met. D-don’t quote me on that tho. Anyway, I met your Byakuran blog first, and I do recall the one blog... was it Tenshidoll? I remember it was like ‘yo, he dresses up too. Totes could do a thing’ and I was like ABSOLUTELY!!!!!! Pretty sure that was a indie blog

I know you did follow me with a number of your Isola affiliated blogs as well. Including this one of course. It’s always nice to know that someone values you enough to follow you on multiple blogs =w=

We’ve talked quite a lot via discord. We’ve both vented to each other, talking about all SORTS of stuff. It really helped me get to know you as a person? So even if we haven’t threaded extensively with each other, i’m very comfortable with you.

I think I can recall you apologizing a few times when you get real excited about something (like your love for musicals for one), but I really don’t mind? Though, that’s not really accurate to say either in retrospect. I said it before and I’ll say it again. I truly do like to see people enjoy something and get excited over it.

You get so excited when talking about your cats (especially Baby), your threads, musicals, the one comedian guy whose name I can’t remember bc I suck with names, Bioshock, etc. I honestly find it so endearing and cute. I don’t understand a lot of it since I don’t really follow Marvel/DC, nor am I a gamer, but it’s still nice to see you get excited over something.

I try to understand as much as I can, and I do try to react whenever possible. It’s always nice to see when you randomly pop into my discord with something to either share or to update me on-- like you finished a game, and you had to do certain things to get a good ending. Even though you really wanted to do a thing-- you WANTED THAT GOOD ENDING.

I’m pretty sure I mentioned to you the things I went through in the past with KHR fandom, so i’m sure I don’t have to go that far into it. Basically, I will forever appreciate the fact that you followed me and actually did interact with my Haru. It does my old heart good.

I do secretly worry about you a lot, like with your job and what not. I do hope that you’re doing well. Know that when someone is being unkind to you, I am mentally kicking them.

I type these in real-thought time, so it’s probs chaotc-- sorry bout that. Before I forget again, I do want to make sure of something. Sometimes when we talk, I may seem unenthused or w/e and that’s probably because I legit have no idea what to say and i’m just like ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; what do, what say? I also am a pretty jaded person sometimes, so I can just dive into that state. It doesn’t mean that i’m not interested or what.

I just-- idk. Sometimes emoting is hard for me. I hope you don’t think that I’m uncaring, or annoyed by you talking about stuff that excites you. It truly does warm my heart to see someone enjoy something so much. It’s always so endearing to watch you loving something so much. It makes me happy because it’s something that excites you, and you chose me (of all people) to talk about it with.

To me, it feels like you trust me enough to want to talk to me about it, and that’s so nice. Da honor--.

Also, I do remember that I talked to you about my random different headcanons. In particular, my headcanons for the KHR flames. I want to say we did this via call... but I could be wrong... maybe it was just by typing. I know that most people I talked to my headcanons about, it was via call. Even then it wasn’t many people, which is why i’m struggling to remember what it was. STILL, I do know for a fact that you were one of the people I did talk to, because we did discuss Byakuran after the fact. You asked if I thought it made sense for Byakuran to have the sky flame, and I was like yeah absolutely. If you think about it, the way that he knows about information across universes isn’t too far from hyper-intuition or seeing into the future, so to me, it made sense.

Is the very spark-noted version of that conversation. It was just a lot of fun talking with you about that headcanon, and I rarely talk to people about that headcanon so it stuck with me that we talked about it. It was nice that you asked a follow up question (ie Byakuran). It shows that you did pay attention and took care to take in my thoughts. Greatly appreciate.

I appreciate you as a friend. Historically, you have come into my discord asking if i’m okay if i’m having a rough time, and I won’t forget about that. I truly treasure that and I treasure the friendship that we have.

Also A+++++++++++ times when you show me pics of the cats. 100000000% A++++++++++ much approved, would recommend. 5 stars, deserving of oscars.

I really don’t know what else to really say, aside from that it’s nice to see how loyal and dedicated you are. Technically third in the Wayfarers series but the books are all loosely connected and don’t need to be read in order! This has an ensemble cast, so there are straight POV characters included, but one of the POV characters is a really awesome older lesbian woman who I love.)

Horror

Gay: The German (An older one, but Lee Thomas is like the name for gay horror. But keep an eye out for Stoker’s Wilde in May – I think it’s gonna be gay, from what I’ve been seeing so far. I plan on reading it when it comes out and seeing for myself)

Lesbian: The Lamb Will Slaughter The Lion (This is a novella, definitely follow it up w the second Danielle Cain novella: The Barrow Will Send What It May. Honorable mentions: Sodom Road Exit, White Is For Witching… can you tell what my favorite genre is LMAO I love lesbian horror…..)

my personal favorite for baseline stuff is jewfaq in part bc that early aughts aes is frankly unrivaled! jewfaq focuses more on jewish culture: if you’re curious about the religion i recommend Basic Judaism, which is a nice lil book and not too densely written. there are several excellent blogs on here, too – surprisedentistry and girlfriendluvr come to mind – who discuss judaism frequently and are good to learn from!

Jaliqai and I - a FFXIV journey

I do not say 'shooketh' lightly. Possibly once before have I ever said such a ridiculous modern meme out loud, but yo was I shooketh when I finished watching the job action video.

I've never shared anything about myself, or how I play Jaliqai, in ffxiv. I'm too nervous to make such an introductory rp post, especially since I'm not sure about the rp scene in Jenova pass <<REC U>> (hi, if you're from that fc, please send me a msg). So, I'll skip that bit for now and focus on the pve.

Jali and I handle approximately three top jobs, currently. One tank, one healer, and one dps. (This is ideal to obtain Mentor, amongst other requirements, you see, so I can sneak back in the Novice Network and ask Newbie Inquiries) They are Dark Knight, Scholar, and Black Mage.

I've been solid ffxiv gamer since late 2015, the year heavensward came out. To be honest, this is My First Final Fantasy Game Ever. I'm a WoW refugee. I never played a single game before 14. I watched the movie, VII: Advent Children... d-does that count? At least it's given me interest to play XIII, and one day XV, though I've watched practically both entire gameplays via friends.

When I first started, my job was BLM and I played it hardcore straight to 50. It took some getting used to the game (don't ask me how, but I couldn't understand the maps), which meant slower gameplay. But I was finally where I could power level through dungeons with my fc as I did the msq; I was always about five levels above the recommended level at solo duties. At the time, you had to open the second required class to unlock your main job, so I literally touched nothing but 15lvls of archer.

(The Scions and Ascians have come to know Jaliqai as <The Annihilator> through msq. Any new msq is done through BLM. If I'm unsure about any new dungeon or creature, BLM.)

It may have been nearly a year but I reached heavensward. Oh my Twelve, it was my favorite expansion. I opened my next job: DRK. Mostly for insta-ques, but the story is A+. I'm mediocre when it comes to handling Jali as a DRK, so it doesn't happen often.

When I finally completed heavensward and it was waiting time for stormblood, Jali wanted to try new things, like healing. I was more interested in opening multi-classes at this point, so what better way than two at once? I took on arcanist, which then lead to SCH, of course.

Did I say two at once? I meant I only took up healing but enjoyed it leveling SMN at the same time.

I may not be absolutely fine-tuned enough to manually drive Eos, but damn is aetherflow my bitch. Eos is a work in progress. I feel most comfortable with SCH and use Jali's healing skills to complete most of my roulettes and wt journals. We are currently sitting at ilvl386.

There's not a lot of classes I've capped to 70, so a lot of the new job actions were lost on me. BLM was the first on my list to appear, and WHOA. I bet my fireballs I witnessed fire v, that miniature implosion with the sonic boom aftereffect feeling... it was rad! And two foul!

SCH came next most of the video later. And. Oh. My. Mother. What did I see? So many new attacks, and shields (that look like protect *ahem* I'm not bitter noooo), and a new faerie gauge! And a super faerie! I'm so excited to play 71+, like whoa.

Then of course the Warrior of Darkness job must show last, and fellas...it's everything I wanted from DRK ages ago and I can't wait to see how the job plays a hand in shadowbringers storytelling. That shadow-double&you attack... it blew my mind.

I'm thus far kind of unimpressed with Dancer, but the aesthetics are pretty. Gunbreaker will legit become the next tank to cap before I open mauderer. And, AND MCH FINALLY LOOKS SUPER INTERESTING TO PLAY.

All in all, bring me July.

Tl;dr: job action video shooketh me to the point of making a post of my personal gameplay and reactions.

Critical Hit Zone

Story time! I knew a guy who thought the clitoris was a myth and literally refused to believe otherwise whenever anyone tried to actually, you know, help him please his women. We worked together when i was at Best Buy in Houston. He was ridiculous. He would press his ties for work. Bro wasn't even a manager, just a Blue Shirt! I technically had a higher position than he did! We used to talk about sh*t and he'd be incredibly informed about said topic, like, encyclopedic. Other times, not so much. Dude could murder you on Jeopardy but completely tank your team in trivia pursuit. He was incredibly book smart but had next to know common sense, no mental flexibility. I thought, for sure, he was on the spectrum but i would find out later that he was just very, very, VERY, sheltered. One day we got on the subject of women and how to "keep them happy." Obviously, every person has their own system but, i guarantee, you're incorporating that go button into your plans at some point. I mean, if you're doing it right anyways.

So it finally comes up in the conversation and he's like, "Those aren't real." Obviously we just laugh that sh*t off but he pushes, "I'm serious. The Clitoris is a myth." So the rest of us stop. Dead silence. Bro is dying so i toss him a life line. "You mean the g-spot? Those can be tricky to find if you don't who where to feel." This motherf*cker spits in my face! "No, i mean the clitoris. He volunteers at soup kitchens, reads books to kids at the library, and spends time with his grandma and her friends at the retirement home. He cooks dinner every night, cleans up everything, and tends to her emotional needs. He spoils her with stuff, obviously, but i wouldn't say he simps for her, at least not the way she describes it. Plus, her friends love him him. Dude is Christian, which is big deal in Texas, and lives his life by those values. Literally the perfect man but he just can't f*ck. Her logic? Nine out of ten ain't bad. That's still an A and she's all about the honor roll. Around that time, my boss sends bro out to collect my partner and i because we had been outside for almost twenty minutes at this point, just enthralled by how contradicktory this dude's relationship is. He kisses her on the cheek, she waves goodbye, and that was that.

I heard they got engaged a few months after i moved back to California. Dunno if they ever actually got married but i imagine so. Some of the Crazy Shit in #nunlife

I’m trying to understand why I’m feeling so moved to write (again!) about much of this and share it. I think the answer is 3-fold:

1.) To bring awareness to an institution that is little known and that does a few things well, but a buncha things not so greatly. Incase any friends, parents or girls considering religious life ever read this – I have been and am happy to be available to connect and share more. I’ve been doing this for years offline – just sharing the behind the scenes, so as to remove the idealistic view that this order portrays. People be free to make their own decisions, tho!

2.) For me, there is a release and a letting go that happens when I write and share it out. It’s like the energy of it all is no longer lingering in my body and mind. It’s on the laptop and it’s out in the world. While I’ve had lots of pieces of my transition on my tumblr for years and other #nunlife posts on fb before, for some reason I’m feeling moved to write this way and share now, so here I am!

3.) I think my #conventlife is also like a really good book. You can revisit it at various points in your life and see new things, take in new messages, read the nuances even further. It’s pretty fascinating to me, so I enjoy revisiting, looking at parts from new perspectives, and allowing new lessons and wisdoms to appear for me.

In my last post, I shared a lot of what life in Spanish Harlem was like, as a missionary sister, living day to day. Pretty basic nun stuff, even if it was new to readers. Here I’m going to follow-up with some events during my 4 years in San Pablo that I have a love/hate relationship with. I love them because I’m pretty sure without them taking place, I may never have left (and leaving has been all things awesome, so!)….and I hate them because they were truly some of the most difficult, exhausting, dark years of my life on all levels. Looking back, I’m pretty confident it was the Universe going: “Here – you are getting the intensive course on burnout…Imma send you a legit crazy (1 definite, a few mas or menos) and make you literally in charge of everything…for 2+ years. Then, you’ll die, want to leave and get on with your life.”

I think like any people-pleaser, like anyone who can’t say no, like anyone who knows not their own voice – my story is no different, with the exception that I was wearing a bright blue habit and a veil. The rules were a little more dramatic – to say no, was saying no to God….and quitting was quite literally scandalous….but still, same structure. I think we all have our own levels of what drives us to our utter exhaustion and burnout. For me, it was a mentally ill sister and replacing another who left, with little support in either situation. This is not a complete piece about why I left – as ultimately the motivation was much more interior - but more a list of external events and circumstances that led to my utter collapse on all levels.

How To Get Girls to Leave Religious Life in 3 Easy Steps:

· Make them Superior. Firstly, being the “superior” of nuns older than you both in religious life and real life just felt uncomfortable. Dealing with the Pastor without having any mission experience was also highly uncomfortable, and it didn’t help that he was the most stoic priest ever and only spoke when necessary. It was annoying and scary at first. (After getting to know him over the years, however, that eased up & I learned he was like a really big-hearted Uncle, who had drank the Stoic Koolaid. It’s cool. I admire him for many things still to this day. He has actually since left the order, but is still a priest!) Being sent to Harlem as superior was like this: “Here, be in charge of all operations in this place you’ve never been to, and be in charge of these people who have been here longer than you.” It was just annoying and stressful!!! That’s what I got for being responsible & docile. Of course, I looked to the sisters who had been there longer for most of my answers in those first years. I knew how to be humble, yo! But still – I really didn’t enjoy being the Superior.. Training was joke – barely a week. It’s “the missionary adventure!” they said. “Trust the Holy Spirit!” they said! “Grace will provide!” they said! #Koolaid, I say, to help the cray go down easier.

· Send them a Crazy. My 2nd year there, the Provincial Superior decided to send me a “troubled” sister. Due to my “calm and peaceful nature” she thought I could handle this sister and would be a good superior for her and that I should really try to bond with her, so that she would trust me & get better, etc. This sister was notorious for her emotional outbursts & instability and for having been shipped from convent to convent, because of the trouble she caused....

Long, long story short-ish – she ended up having Borderline Personality Disorder, which we discovered during her stint in Harlem. (Before I go any further, please know I take mental illness very seriously. If there is any circumstance that made me realize it’s a very serious thing, it would be the one I am describing here. It’s no joke, it’s not her fault, but many versions of BPD do require intense programs to really get anywhere. I learned and read a shit-ton about it all, not to mention lived it on a daily basis in a very intimate way. I am in no way here blaming this sister for her antics, as clearly the #ssvm is to blame for not responsibly providing her the care she clearly needed.) She was officially diagnosed by a psychiatrist and it was recommended by him (note, a doctor who specialized in treating catholic religious….) that she be put into an intensive treatment program – like a 3-4 day a week program. It was also suggested that she go home to Argentina until she was well, or just for good. Well, the order carried out none of the recommendations of the doctors blaming money constraints and also because “the sick are our chalices” – a brainwashy line in our rulebook to make us think it’s virtuous and saintly to care for every member who is sick in any way, and never send them home. Keeping them with us and taking care of them is like making spiritual bank, basically. So, she stayed in our convent for 2+ years, basically causing unrest on a weekly and, often daily basis. Personally, it was emotionally exhausting for me, as I was the person closest to her & obliged always to care for her (the rest of the sisters basically avoided her and walked on egg-shells around her.) If you know anything about this mental illness, you know that it’s the people closest to them that they manipulate, abuse and have a love/hate relationship with. I think I went to more doctors appointments with her in those 2 years, than ever in my life – every specialist of every kind, there was always something. Basically anything to get my attention. Days when she would cry for hours on end, lock herself in the bathroom, bang her head against the wall, threaten suicide, be totally rebellious….and most of these situations, it was just me and her in the convent. Everyone else was out doing their things in the parish, but I was stuck at home, dealing with her. Despite that though, she found a way to piss off, provoke and drive all my sisters crazy. People with this mental illness are very emotionally savvy and know exactly what to say to provoke and push buttons. The sisters fell for it over and over again, until they finally learned & paid her no mind, which is what she could not stand. Same with me. This is how I learned to not engage. It’s been one of the wisest practices of my life & has saved me a lot of bullshit. The provincial superior, no matter how many things I shared with either of them (there were 2 during my 4 years in Harlem,) never did much to actually help me. It took my spiritual director (priest) to ask the provincial superior to remove this sister from our convent, for my sanity. Did I mention that I was sent with her to Argentina to visit a special doctor?! This was the last straw for me. I ended up cutting my part of the trip short, and flew home alone from Buenos Aires to New York, because she was absolutely nuts and if I stayed any longer, I was going to lose my mind. After that trip is when I asked Father to beg to have her removed from my care and from my convent. It was emotional and mental manipulation at its best by her, who was ill, and then to feel that my own superiors and order would not remove this situation from not only me, who also had anywhere from 3-5 other sisters to be present to, but would not remove the situation from our house, where it affected the peace and happiness of our convent community. I am positive it was this situation in particular that really began breaking my circuits. One at a time, the breakers were being flicked off. My brain had less and less mental energy to make decisions. I stopped caring about anything…

· Add Work, Remove Support. My 3rd year there (still with Sister Borderline), one of our mainstay sisters (the bitchy one) had not gotten laid yet, but had to go back to Argentina to help her mother. She ended up staying there for an entire year and no replacement was sent my way for her. I was asked to take over her parish duties, which was basically a full time job. She was the Director of Religious Education of our huge bilingual program – over 400 students, half on Saturday in Spanish, the rest on Sunday in English. It was a huge beast of a job (like in other parishes, is a regular paid FT job) that I was tasked with, with minimal help. The provincial house sent me 1 sister for a few hours a week to help me, but that was it. This job entailed not only weekend classes, but catechist formation classes (teaching adults how to teach and about the faith) and a ton of reception of the Sacraments, like coordinating hundreds of parents, sponsors and students for Baptisms, 1st Communions and Confirmations with the Bishop and all that insanity. I asked for another full time sister – someone who could really take over and was not given any more help than a few hours a week. Plus, I was still the provincial liturgist, having girls visit our convent, and doing all the things I originally had to do in the parish and as a superior. I was relieved of nothing, just tossed a full time job on top. So, at home I was being driven utterly insane (oh, and of course she was jealous that I was at the parish so much more, so of course she would have bouts of emergency illness, random piercing pains, etc, anything to get me to come back home and check her out, give her attention, make an emergency doctor visit, etc.) and at work, I was overloaded, but expected by Father and the parishoners to keep everything status quo. Not to mention the people of the parish obviously had no idea about the stressor of Sister Borderline and Father knew only minimal information and really didn’t care. He needed shit to get done in his parish and he didn’t care about an angry, whiney, emotional nun in the convent who didn’t work in his parish anyway. Nice set up, huh?

I mean – is it no wonder I left, I don’t like responsibility and I don’t like people?

Is it no wonder I can spot the red flags of people’s bullshit a mile away and be like #talktothehand. Peace.

Is it no wonder I aim to keep my lifestyle simple, free and lighthearted?

Is it no wonder I never want my work or job to become my life?

Is it no wonder that I go crazy when I see people who just don’t say no, and let people or organizations bulldoze over them?

Is it no wonder I never want to be in charge of shit, plan events or do someone else’s work?!

(Below, amazing youth at my farewell party...I was sent to the mission in Avondale, PA in July 2011 to be a regular sister and take a breather. This breather allowed me to realize and accept it was time for me to go home. Story for another day! Far right is now a NYPD!)

So, like I said at the beginning, it’s a love/hate relationship with these aforementioned circumstances. They totally sucked and at the same time, taught me so many lessons and infused me with loads of insight that I use daily. This is why the children, youth and families of Harlem are my absolute faves – in order to escape the stress and heaviness and utter out-of-controlness of my life, I would just go and hang with them. Laugh with them, eat and play with them. They helped ground me, allowed me to breathe and just always loved on me. And they still do to this day.

How interesting that my own religious family would not support me in these circumstances, and does not see me (or many of us who have left) as family even today? Yet the people of San Pablo always did and still do. I have real friendships with the people I met in Harlem, literally to this day. And when I go back to NY, I visit them. And yet, with the exception of 1 human, no one from the ive or the ssvm would consider me family today. #whoislivingthegospel? #irony

When he was in London he met Benjamin Franklin, who introduced him to a lot of people who eventually became rlly annoyed with him (relatable right) bc he kept bringing his petition everywhere with him and asking them to sign it. Like, the bar, the cafe, the hot cocoa cafe, parties, dinners, etc., this dude was RELENTLESS. they called him 'Ben Franklin's Paine in the ass'

anyway so Benjamin Franklin was like 'yo u should come to the American colonies!' And wrote him a bomb-ass letter of recommendation and all that shit, but Paine was kinda like 'ehhhhh, idk I got a wife and I still need to submit my petition and shit'

But then like his petition failed bc the government didn't give a shit and his wife divorced him bc she was mad that he never slept with her or hung out with her at all bc he was being angry abt politics all the time. So he left for America, nearly DIED on the ship there cause he got so sick. They bring him outta the ship, he's got a fever and is barely conscious ever but they know he know ben franklin so they get him set up in this woman's house and she agree to look after him and shit. After three months he gets better and he's like 'let's explore the streets of Philadelphia!'

But the thing is he'd originally come there to be a school teacher, bc he thought the colonies were super primitive and didn't have any resources or schools or shit. So he's walking around philly and he sees like three colleges (#univercity repreSENT) and is like 'Oh Shit What Do I Do Now'

and sooooo he starts talking to people, and develops a shit ton of political opinions and starts writing and publishing articles and shit. He wrote against slavery, and like, dueling, and he wrote abt women's rights, but it wasn't widely publicized. Anyway, he became fairly well known in the city and he got a job editing a paper I think?????

But then he got into thinking about like, separating from England and everyone was like 'man that shit's too controversial for us, England is our mom and we're staying w her, god bless the king and his crazy ass policies, fuck I hate that dumbass'

also, people were really dubious about a lot of his talk of separation because he'd only been in a America a few years, and didn't have status or money like other political figures of the time, like John Adams and his bro and shit. So he wrote common sense to get his ideas across to the majority of the people of the colonies, who, like him, didn't have fancy rich-person educations and couldn't understand a lot of the academic and philosophical writing of the time. He wanted to make politics accessible to them, and he succeeded. That shit spread so widely people translated it from English, edited out the parts about doing away with a king, and sold it all the way in France. He wrote it under a pseudonym, so he didn't get credit except from the people who knew who he was via word of mouth, and his publisher fuckin ripped him off, so he didn't get any money either, even though hundreds of copies were bought and made.

The idea of revolution rlly started taking off after that, and a lot of the Founding Fathers™ came up w the idea for the Declaration of Independence and they were like 'yo tom ur a starving political writer u wanna write this for us?' And he was like 'YES.' And wrote up a draft, including a paragraph of anti-slavery sentiments. But the thing is, they'd hired an editing committee, headed by Thomas Jefferson, may that motherfucker know no rest, and they took out a TON of stuff, including the anti slavery bit, bc it was 'too controversial'. In the end, Thomas Jefferson got sole credit and they didn't ask Paine to sign the declaration, bc even though he made it a Point to be friendly w everyone with whose he had a common goal (separation of the United States from England) he was suuuuper uncharismatic and also rlly un-compromisng in his own views, so not a lot of people rlly liked him, and a lot of the important ones kinda just used his ideas and thought he was annoying.

Some other stuff he did:

-fought in the army briefly (I forget what exactly his position was, but basically he enlisted to put his money where his mouth was)

-went to France with John Laurens on a diplomacy mission. did NOT know how to speak French at ALL. More of an anecdote, but John Laurens had to practically drag him out of his house and physically force him to stop writing bc otherwise they'd miss their ship

-tried to create a new bridge design after the war to make money cause he was broke AF but failed. It DID bring him to France tho, where he tried to help their revolution and was jailed. Again, for being 'too radical' although this time that meant 'suggesting fair trials for the aristocracy'

-during his time in the army kind of...stumbled..into a verbal fight with Alexander Hamilton, who had read an old anti-dueling essay of his and was pissed AF. u heard me right folks Alexander Hamilton was the pro-gun politician of his time. Anyway Paine was suuuuper confused bc he'd. legit never met hamilton before in his life and Hamilton didn't say anything just sat there being hostile while John Laurens panicked.
