hello, there! sorry for the long wait, i forgot to check my notifs :( i will do better next time. thank you for this question! i feel like i’ve waited ages for someone to ask me exactly that, lol. i could talk about well-written fanfics forever!! can i give you a hug? because this is wonderful, really.

let’s go for it! my range of fanfiction that i enjoy vary, but one thing remains: i will adore your fic, no matter the fandom, if it’s written with passion and if it contains good, poetic introspection. i love poetry. for me, if there’s melancholic tropes of any kind i’m into it. immortal character and reincarnation? give me now. supernatural elements or slice of life with doomed narrative? i’ll ignore sleep to read it. angst with happy ending? my endgame, for sure.

however, i also adore silly, comedic, cute pieces of domestic life or otherwise. i had a hard time choosing from my bookmarks for this, and i also reviewed some of my favorites, it was fun. before we continue, here are some of the tags that i don’t dive into for whatever reason: porn without plot (it personally just doesn’t interest me at all), non-con, gore, a/b/o dynamics, soulmates au. sorry if you were hoping for it! i’ll try classify them into an order of what i like most.

1. jellyfish, by mystery twin, for the haikyuu!! fandom — i read this when i was finishing high school and coincidentally the story talks about finishing high school! i have a personal attachment that makes me reread it every year. it’s some sort of tradition at this point. not to mention i love kagehina dearly.

2. teen project to change the world, by animeloverhomura, for the mo dao zu shi fandom — respectfully speaking, i would find this author and give them a big hug. their writing is spetacular! if you've never seen this one and you're into mdzs, know it's a story where the characters get to see every event from the novel and donghua, even the dead characters. they watch wei wuxian journey, can you believe it? so goddamn entertaining. promptly waiting for the next update!

3. a hundred or so hellos, by iwillstillopenthewindow, for the haikyuu!! fandom — remember i said i love melancholic stories? well, this one broke me so hard, i had to mention how i hold it with tenderness (we love things that breaks us, dont we?). this fandom manages to write the cutest, most unhinged things sometimes. even it's an anime about sports. i always get amazed by it.

4. no certainty of doors between us, by betts, for the mo dao zu shi fandom — certainly the most silly little fanfic i've ever seen, it's hilariously sweet. i want everyone to read this masterpiece because, seriously, whoever did this deserves only the best. so, so, cute. it had to be in my top 10!

5. their kindred encounters, by fireflavoredwhiskey, for the untamed rpf fandom (bjyx) — you know those kinds of shows, books, any piece of media, that tears up apart? well, this one was it for me. it's a very famous one that deserves all praise, certainly well-written and enjoyable to the core, with doses of angst, romance and beauty overall.

6. as the clouds part and clear, we finally meet again, by 12262325, for the mo dao zu shi fandom — aaaaa, i was truly torn between putting this in the third or fourth place, but i ended up putting it here. come on, i love an age difference kind of story, especially for wangxian, and this one was perfectly done. sweet and funny. the development? the yearning?? outstanding!! i read this many times already, i'll never get tired.

7. pursuit, by emleewrites, for the haikyuu!! fandom — mystery, romance, lawsuits, poker games, adventure, slice of life, AMAZING depictions and so, so goddamn well-written? that's what you're looking for in any fanfiction. the author dedicated herself entirely for this story, and, like i said, i love stories that are written with passion, you can see it pouring through every paragraph. besides, highly entertaining. i'm not very into long fics, but once i started it off, i couldn't stop. that's how addicting it is.

8. linger by the door (i’ve always been yours), by piecrust, for the mo dao zu shi fandom — epistolary?? have i mentioned how i love it?? some of the phrases in this are gold, in my bookmarks you can check some of them (i ought to make a list of my favorite fic quotes, btw, i will sure do it). through each letter i could comprehend more of wei wuxian's feelings and his internal conflict. i love feeling this connected to a character.

9. all the world is ours to take, by khrys, for the fugou keiji fandom — i have more than one favorite fanfiction for this couple. you know these kinds of developing relationship where the transition from (maybe enemies too) friends to lovers happens so smoothly that it feels like they've been soulmates first and foremost at the end? i don't even know how to explain. i just love how, when they finally are together, it's like they've been together for years. and they just... made it official? i like it. i love my mr. kambe haru.

10. he won’t tell you that he loves you, by hellshandbasket, for the house m.d fandom — i found this to be the most fitting, perfect story for this specific couple. they deserved more stories like this, but we dont see it anymore. i would hightlight the feelings realization in this one, that is so fucking real? haha in any case, it's a fanfic that i enjoyed a great deal.

that's it, i guess! i wanted to add link click fanfics also, however i barely started reading fanfictions from its fandom, i'm drowning in it lately but it's just a start. perhaps very sooon!

oh, i’m gonna finish explaining about the name! in my native language, i’ve heard someone tell me before that ‘life’s a little askew, nothing’s ever perfect’, and that quote remained in every biography of any english website i ever went to. then in literature class someday i had to write about historical women and came across this one named anne askew (i wanted to write about the mostly barely-spoken women). it was the second time i saw this word. i didn’t think of it as a proper name before, but then i had to create a nickname for my ao3 profile and thought, humn, why not just ‘askew’? the quote has been engraved in my heart anyway, so i went for it. we’re all flawed and askew. so, yeah, it just… fit? the ‘d’ here on tumblr it’s only because my surname has a ‘de morais’ in it. i also liked that it resembled ‘alaska’, the john green character i was kinda of obsessed with back in my teenager grunge phase. i don’t like these kinds of books anymore, but i guess some details stay with you. do you think it’s weird? never thought of changing.

what is so important for me to remember on this day

I choose to remember the momentary mildly-poleaxed look in dd’s eyes, and gg’s surprised, controlled, subtle and indescribable expressions

the video recording does not pass through to us the experience of smell, and the sense of the physical presence of another nearby — the coherence of brain waves and heart rate variability that happens sometimes when we match, not just as potential lovers, but as beings on the same wavelength

in the way I am reconstructing the untold story, I assume

this was the first meeting in person at a close distance; what I do believe had happened at that moment, was recognition, on many levels, primarily physiological — and also spiritual, at the same time, as it sometimes happens when the whole concept of the world a person holds, shudders and expands to accommodate the living reality of the other person (…speaking from my own similar long-past personal experience here)

(the first-person narration below is my reading-into what I see when I watch that DDU episode; this is pure fanfiction) 

this person smells absolutely right, I want to stand closer to check again… can I bottle this scent, please? 

when I am in the vicinity of this person, even not standing close, I feel different, like, there is harmony and ease, like a harmonious chord

it is like a sound of a bell resonating through my whole being, I get goosebumps 

I can hear the rhythm in my internal soundtrack, I can’t pinpoint it yet, but I have a weird feeling that he hears it too… how can I check if he does? 

the unvoiced sound of my own being-in-the-world comes through better, with less dissonance or dampening… I feel like am more myself

but at the same time I feel like I am something more than just myself, I am transcending myself, and it is in some ways similar to what I feel when the group moves in the dance like a supersystem, like one suprahuman being, but with him now we are not even interacting, not dancing together, there is no music playing to align us so… so why do I feel like that? …this is fascinating

I will be hungry for this feeling when it ends

I feel that this feeling is calling out for me, calling me to do something, to go somewhere, to discover new possibilities and open myself to them… but what are they?

what is this calling?

I will not forget it or dismiss it as a fluke 

I will definitely want a chance to see if it is a one-time experience …or a stable feature of a particular connection

"I dont understand though why they are with Y/n she's not that special as Wangji and Wuxian"

They gossiped as the three of you passed. You saw Wanyin walking up to you three with Ning.

"Hey boys" you said as you high-fived Ning

"Don't mind them" you heard Wuxian tells Wangji as you smiled.

The truth is yes, Lan Zhan Wangji is very cold indeed, but he has different sides of himself and he filters how much he shows to whom. There's the Wangji that his friends see and there's the Wangji that only Wuxian and Y/n have seen.

He feels free around them, he doesn't feel the need to put up a front and hence he's much more geniune in expressions with them.

"Yah, Wangji, Eat this" you offered him a cookie as he was reading, he simply opened his mouth and you put it inside. "Me! Me!" Wuxian cheered as you fed him too.

The three of you had a rule of spending the weekends with each other. Saturday you would go out and sunday you would do nothing.

Lying on Wuxian's lap while he played with your hair as the two of you enjoyed Wangji playing the Zither

Or sometime when Wangji would be on the guitar and Wuxian on flute or organ, as you sang your favourite songs, sometimes recording them to show your friends.

Sleeping with Wangji holding Wuxian who in-return would be holding you as neither you nor Wangji can sleep in the middle.

You, taking tips from Yanli to make certain dishes. Wuxian throws compliments at each bite and Wangji eats it with a sweet smile on his face, with a soft "It's really good babe".

Imagine this, Wuxian is out with your friends, you stayed back as you had an assignment and Wangji stayed so that you're not left alone (Xian didn't want to go too, you simply coaxed him to go enjoy). So you're working in your own anad Wangji is reading a book. He'll just randomly come sit by you and make a (ㅇㅅㅇ) face and you and Xian know what it means. So you put down the pen and turn and engulf the baby bear in a hug as he sighs in relief and leans into you. Yes Wangji needs hugs from time to time too.

So whoever says Wangji is cold can fuck themselves. Let them talk.

Xiao Zhan doesn’t know the protocol here. How to behave while being stuck in an elevator with a stranger who might or might not know who he is? He doesn’t seem to be a fan at least, which is a big relief, but Xiao Zhan should know the risks of being too naive around people since he became famous. He really should. He witnessed the result of not being properly prepared less than five minutes ago.

Xiao Zhan does his best to not look like a deer in headlights, but instead like the approachable person that he’s supposed to be. Maybe he is a fan after all?

Oh, this is so nice! And incredibly difficult, which has made me feel nice. Can you believe I have so many works I'm still pleased with that it was difficult to choose? What a pleasant feeling.

1. See you in Eorzea - Yizhan & FF14, 69k, E I (M 28) picked up someone (M 2x) in a video game and I think they might be famous. Please advise.

Famous/non-famous MMORPG AU, meet cute in Sastasha. My longest work ever when I wrote it, and it was completed before posting anything. Still really happy with it, and, Yoshi-p should pay me royalties for how many converts it's created. I'm confident you do not need to know yizhan to enjoy it, if you would like to give it a try 💕

2. For the future you (the one without me) - Yizhan, 6.4k, T “Why Singapore?,” she’d asked him once, and he’d not known how to answer. An exploration of what may lie outside the few minutes the Vogue Film offered.

Inspired by a Vogue shortfilm Wang Yibo starred in, link to it can be found in the a/n of the fic. 9 minutes, very aesthetically worth it. I'm really happy with the atmosphere of this work, and I feel like it's very representative of my shorter, fleetier, ever bittersweet style. Am proud still. 🥺

3. Written, never said - cql - lwj & mianmian, wangxian, 6.6k, G ”I have a letter to deliver to young lady Luo Qingyang. It has arrived from Gusu today, with the quickest delivery.”

Thirteen years of correspondence, understanding and friendship.

My Mianmian and LWJ friendship agenda. Epistolary fic covering the years of WWX's death through Mianmian's eyes on the letters she receives and writes. I'm still happy with how this one conveys what I wanted to say. I'm pleased with it stylistically. And they deserved that friendship, IT WAS THERE, OK.

4. Sensations - ffxiv - wolexarch, 4.7k E ”Make it hurt, please,” he’d finally whispered, as each day, more of his body was being eaten away by the crystal, leaving him missing touch in places he did not know he’d wanted it.

A stand-alone AU within my wolfic series in which G'raha's crystallisation speeds up after the events of 5.0 and the completion of his mission. and with it comes loss of sensation. This one came to be when my dear friend @draiochteve prompted me to write "soft knifeplay". I love the bittersweet desperation and love I managed to convey in this one, and, I just want you to take note of the publication date: This was posted exactly a year before the release of patch 5.3. 😌

5. Nothing more than a willing substitute - ffxiv, asahi/zenos, 4.3k, E He would do anything to please his beloved Prince.

Oldest one here and I will admit I'm impressed that I still think it's worthy of this list, five years later. One of my first 14 fics, and definitely the most wretched thing I had ever written at the time. Mayhap one may call it my descent into the filth-pit. Asahi just made me feral, and it worked out. My dear gf @g0g0mi just desrcibed this one as "iconic", so. Unrecruited obsession love, swordplay, bondage, choking... there are things. IDK. My brand started here, OK. And, I think it still holds up. 😎

Xiao Zhan looks impossibly young asleep on the couch clutching a plushy to his chest, and Yibo has the sudden urge to be called gege.

Part 5: Teasing (T-rated; 579 words)

Yibo is at the breaking point of what he can take. Apparently, so is Xiao Zhan.

Part 6: In Public (E-rated; 727 words)

The dam has broken, and Xiao Zhan and Yibo's flirtation on set has absolutely escalated.

Part 7: Possessive Marking (M-rated; 385 words)

Yibo wants the world to know what they are to each other, but the bruises and gifts and truth lies hidden just a little longer beneath the surface and away from prying eyes.

Part 8: Pictures (M-rated; 690 words)

Xiao Zhan gets an idea for some pictures he wants to take sometime, and Yibo gets quickly on board with the idea.

Part 9: Ritual (E-rated; 724 words)

A photo sent in their private chat sparks the flame that has every hotel bathroom be their stage for a private performance until they're within touching distance again, blooming into a ritual they're both very eager to keep up.

Part 10: Jealousy (T-rated; 645 words)

They both know it's just a part of their teasing until one on screen kiss looks a little too real and Yibo needs a little bit of reassurance, which Xiao Zhan is very happy to provide.

Part 11: Somnophilia (E-rated; 1356 words)

Saturday mornings are Yibo's mornings to sleep late. Yibo protests Xiao Zhan wanting to wake him up earlier, but they come up with a mutually satisfying compromise.

Part 12: Hair-pulling (E-rated; 958 words)

Yibo knows what it feels like, to have that thing that gets you instantly hot. Xiao Zhan can see right through what gets him going. He's having a hard time figuring out what Xiao Zhan might be weak to, until-
