She didn't mean it. And frankly, neither did he. She didn't mean to call him an overworking asshole who doesn't care about his own girlfriend. He didn't mean to use his quirk while yelling at her and getting a noise complaint from the neighbors. They were both tired. Too tired. But even so, they weren't getting along. Neither one of them wanted to apologize first, but inside, they felt awful. She just wanted to throw his arms around him and call him hers and he just wanted to smile into the crook of her neck in a loving embrace. But after the argument, they didn't know what to do.
“I'm home.” Hizashi closed the door, expecting his usual hug, but instead, she just peeked her head from the kitchen with a small smile and a wave. It's not like they hated each other… they were just… a little distant. But tonight was her first night in. She’s usually been working nights. And by the time she gets home, Mic is out the door. So now they were stuck together with no choice but to do something about it.
“I made dinner if you want some.” Mic slipped off his shoes and walked into the kitchen, smelling his favorite dinner. “Of course I want some.” His voice was quiet, which was strange, but he didn't want to upset her by any means. “Smells good baby.” He gave her a small kiss on the cheek as she handed him his plate. Small, but progress. “Thanks.” Her voice was quiet, almost a whisper. They haven't really talked since the argument now that they think about it. It's always been working, working, working, so their time together has been limited. The last time they “talked”, they were full blown screaming at each other.
“How was your day at work, Zashi?” Small, but progress. “It was good. How was yours?” “Good.” “Just good?” Mic giggled. She giggled back, covering her mouth. “Yeah, just good.” “Better than bad.” She looked at him with a soft smile, remembering how lost she could get in those bright green eyes. “Yeah. Better than bad.”
They were pretty much silent towards each other until nightfall, almost scared to talk to each other. And she definitely didn't want to tick him off before another day of work, so as they got ready for bed, she scooped up her pillow and grabbed a blanket from the closet, heading downstairs. “Huh?” Mic walked out with a toothbrush hanging out of his mouth, raising his eyebrow. “Where’re you going?” “Oh… um… I know you have work tomorrow and I don't want to uh… cause anything? So… I'm going to sleep on the couch.” She took a step down and heard Mic’s sock covered feet patting the carpet as he ran over to her, putting his hand on her shoulder, his toothbrush left in the bathroom. “Hey,” she turned around to face him, seeing his eyebrows contorted into a concerned look. “Just because we aren't doing the greatest right now doesn't mean I don't love you. I don't want you to sleep on the couch because you think I'm going to be mad at you. I want to be… together again. I'm sorry.” She began to tear up, subconsciously sinking into Mic’s arms. “I'm sorry too.” “Let's just go to bed, okay? We’ll talk it all through in the morning. I still love you.” “I've always loved you.”
