So I've been wondering about one particuar point on the "Jiang Cheng marriage recquirement" list and it's the one about low cultivation.
Now on its face, except for the "must be nice to jin ling" point, the whole thing just looks like the most standard list of "ideal wife characteristics under a patriarchal society." naturally beautiful, graceful and obedient, coming from a good family, voice not too loud, etc. This leads to either the interpretation that jiang cheng really wants that (doubt dot png) or just... put all the most stereotypical things on a list even though that's not what he really wants.
In that context "cultivation must not be too high" sounds like a typical "men are scared of women who are smarter/stronger" thing. you know, the dudes who feel 'intimidated' when their wife or girlfriend makes more money than them.
...Except wasn't Yanli openly mocked for her low cultivation? Like, wasn't one of the reasons Jin Zixuan was such an ass to her initially because he shallowly assumed her lower cultivation made her an unworthy marriage candidate? Jin Guangshan may hate women who can read but society overal doesn't give the impression that high cultivation in women is seen as something undesirable. I mean... a wife that never looks like she's over 20 even as she starts aging? yeah I have no problem believing a misogynistic society is okay with high cultivation.
So if it's not there just to fit the stereotypical standard of an ideal wife...
Jiang Cheng, are you just describing your sister?
LIke?? Every single point on this list applies to Yanli. All of them. I don't mean this in a freudian incest-y way but in a "jiang cheng are you so unaware of what you want in a partner you just took the only woman you've had an unambiguously good relationship with and hoped no one would notice???" way. Does he know the difference in what you should like about your sister and what you should like in a spouse? Is he even aware he's doing this? Jiang Cheng answer meeeee.

Sobbing so hard bc even as wifey, Mizu wore pants, didn't want to wear that pretty kimono and makeup except for the wedding ceremony itself because I'm sure her "mother" made her or to try and soften his heart after their spar. She was her tomboy self, you know? And people are out here putting her in hyper feminine stuff like NO THIS ISN'T BUTCH DEATH THIS IS BUTCH MURDER.
You can be a butch/tomboy and be pretty or have long hair, I do, but like, oooof. It's like when people made Tigress all girly pop like NO. STOP IT PLEASE. LET BUTCHES BE I BEG. She's clearly into utility over anything else, I mean, she wears her stitched up kimono even though she clearly has the means to buy a new one, her tattered, mud soaked little cape thing, etc. The pants she wore horseriding with Mikio even looked like her pants she wore as a man.

It fucking blows my mind how so many men will just see a picture of a woman and feel compelled to publicly announce whether he finds her fuckable or not. This happens on basically every social media site and also irl. Like, did you ever consider that maybe she's not desperate for the approval of random men and she doesn't care if you think that she's too fat or her nose is too big or whatever?
It just gets really disheartening running into this time and time again because it really hammers in the point that far too many men only value women for our looks. Like they have the capacity to comment literally anything and somehow it always comes back to whether a woman makes their peepee hard or not.

I can understand transmasc people who seem to mostly have an issue with simply being called women, tbh. I can perfectly understand why it would mostly be a linguistic issue for some. From a young age, I was jealous of men and aware they were considered less cool than women. This is even worse now because of the internet- I’ll show you one example.
Tumblr media
Why is it gendered? Why are men the people who would understand this? This type of joke has always been on the internet, and it’s probably taken on a different form in the past ~5 years or so, but the assumption that the listener/reader is male and that men are the cool, fun sex are a constant. There are small pockets more oriented towards women but most isn’t. It’s always, always bothered me, and I can absolutely see some women just having better connotations with the word ‘man’ than ‘woman’.
Even though a part of you understands it’s misogyny, and it’s not a reflection of actual women, you eventually start to feel like it’s you that’s the problem. I truly feel like if I had kept going down the same route, I would have eventually identified as a trans man, and not nonbinary like I had a first. My brain started to interpret the anguish at seeing things like this and wanting to belong with men as proof I’ve always been one. Even if you have women you care about and don’t consciously think all women fit a certain mold, it still doesn’t feel right. This is made even worse by the trans community acting like ‘cis women’ is a boring thing to be. It sucks. I’m not going to deny that for some individuals sex dysphoria is very real, and not every one shares this experience, but this has existed in my life for a long time, and it felt very real to me at the time. So I do think for plenty of women, it’s not our female body, it’s not feminine clothing, it’s simply being referred to as a women.

I see myself in a career where I attend all types of exclusive elegant events, network & befriend many important, influential people (not influencers) over wine and expensive plates, fly to major cities around the world & stay in luxury hotels, dress expensively, be involved in important executive meetings, and retiring to my house in the hills. 💖

Just listened to Dylan Mulvaney's "Days Of Girlhood" in full and I'm just flabbergasted.
This is what people are mad about?
Is this what people are crying is "misogynistic" and "bad music"?
Seriously?
I couldn't stop dancing the entire time lmao. The beat is literally the funkiest tune and if you'd just LISTEN it's not misogynistic at all. It's her expressing gratitude to the women and girls that have supported her throughout her transition. It's about all the things she can embrace now that she's her true self. It's about being a party girl and gosh, isn't it awesome she can be a party girl now??
It's her being amazed at how WONDERFUL it is being a woman.
It's her acknowledging the stereotypes that are put on her and other women and saying you can't use these to hurt me anymore.
It's her saying yeah. I shop when I'm sad sometimes. So what? It makes me happy!
It's her saying yes! I still have to go to the pharmacy like any other person, and I shouldn't be ashamed of it! It's normal! Don't gawk at me!
It's her saying yes! I had a one night stand and it was awkward, but that's just life, right?
It's her saying I'm having fun, fuckers!
It's her acknowledging that yeah, things aren't always fine and dandy, and that's why I got my GIRLS.
But y'all don't see that.
Y'all see a trans woman who's happy and you hate it.
You see a trans woman who's embracing a traditionally masculine spelling of her name and you despise it.
You see a trans woman sharing each step of the process and you're mad because you want to keep silencing us.
You see a trans woman who likes men and you get ANGRY because how DARE she have all these party girl experiences when she's trans. Because of course, ALL trans people have to be depressed all the time.
You see a trans woman who's an influencer and enjoys items. She enjoys buying things, and modeling, and makeup, and shoes, and pretty outfits and crazy eyeliner and spreading positivity and you're MAD because we're supposed to suffer.
Trans people are supposed to suffer.
That's what defines us to you.
And that's what you want to define Dylan.
And guess what?
You disgust me.
And all the people who are claiming that her song is "bad" "but it's not a crime" are JUST as bad as those who are claiming it's misogynistic. Her song isn't bad. It's just not your taste. Wash your mouth out with soap and deal with it but get her name OUT OF IT.
You can hate party songs. You can hate Poppy hit songs that people are supposed to dance to. You can hate the classics like Brittney Spears and Demi Lovato and Shakira and you can totally hate just the genre in general.
But what you CAN'T do is look all these people in the face who are being AWFUL to her and say "yeah I agree with you but for DIFFERENT REASONS"
Because all you're ever putting out there is the vibe that women aren't allowed to have fun, and trans women especially.
You can totally say it's not your taste! You can totally say that you don't like pop songs! That's FINE. Just don't fucking put down women in the process. Don't claim something is "bad" just because YOU don't like it.
Dylan has dealt with ENOUGH shit in the past few years.
And I can't fucking BELIEVE that people are STILL shitting on her just for existing.
Just once.
Listen to the lyrics.
Listen all the way through.
And SUPPORT people. Even if their style is not your personal taste.
Because it's REALLY not that hard to be a nice person.
And it's even LESS hard to see all the needless hate that somebody else is already getting and decide not to jump on the bandwagon.
Do better.
Support trans artists.
And don't be a douchebag.
