I'm reading "Wyrd Sisters" again, and I checked the publishing year, and I was like. Huh. Yeah I can see this was written very close to Good Omens. There's so many themes and story beats and stuff that's just... So similar. Like Gaiman's 3rd act kiss. Authors can't help being themselves.

I know it's not technically even over but I just wanted to say I genuinely have not read a climax to a story as good as the one you just gifted us with chapter 103 and I do not think I will ever recover.

The way you weave the development of your plot and your characters together is incredible, and the way you have culminated all of those threads (some going back 400 thousand words or more, whew!) into such a satisfying payoff in the third act has left me speechless and in awe. I see you, Sundrop! has made me feel more things more deeply and has resonated with me more than any piece of media I think I have ever consumed in my entire life. I truly mean that. You are wonderful and amazing and your story is an absolute treasure. Thank you so much for sharing it with us ❤️

A big goal of mine was that this last arc would be a test of everything these characters are. They developed so much over the course of the story, and now it ALL gets challenged. I wanted every single thing they'd learned to be not just relevant but vitally important in the climactic scene.

It also drives me insane that we see all of these hints that Selûne is watching over her daughter, that she loves her, that she wants to protect her, yet . . . we see no evidence of her reaching out to Aylin directly. We see nothing to indicate she's spoken to her or let her feel her presence. That doesn't mean it didn't happen, but I'm of the mind that it didn't. Thinking about how that makes Aylin feel . . . I am normal about this, too.

#OOC / HOLLY. #my personal thoughts on the matter are that Selûne has a hard time restraining herself where her daughter is concerned #reaching out a little would quickly snowball into meddling a lot which would likely cause more problems than it solved #there's no way you don't look at your child enduring what she has endured and not want to immediately snatch her away to the heavens #but that's arguably not what needs to happen or even really what can happen #it kills me every day knowing Selûne will nevertheless go as far as sending slivers to protect her daughter if you sell her out to Lorroaka #but if you stand with Aylin against him then those slivers are never sent #the clearest indication that Selûne is watching her daughter and loves her and cares about her and what she's suffered #and there's a high probability it never happens / Aylin never sees it and is left to grapple with all this pain and these questions alone

Tfw you find a nice fic. Nothing spectacular but serviceable. It's decently long, the writing is pretty good, the plot is interesting and the characterizations are good. You read maybe half of it and it keeps being pretty good.

Then towards the end suddenly there's, like, 4 or 5 huge pet peeve tropes that really grind your gears and you can't finish the last chapter because you're so annoyed.

Maybe it was because it's so late but I straight-up stopped reading.

Its real strange when Americans especially (meaning politicians, less citizens but them too sometimes) say socialism doesn't work because how the hell would you even know. Half the shit American politcians describe as socialism isn't socialism, and often they treat those things like the sky will fall if they're implemented (like healthcare. Ignore Canada right above you. Lie about how our system works by telling people you need to wait years to see Drs about life threatening issues when you only get waitlisted for specialists and not for years either, it's generally a few months. Not ideal but not what American politicians say either. Ignore every other country with universal healthcare better than Canada's, which is everyone's, because there's no need to even lie about those after making the country above you look bad for not charging 80K to look at a band-aid, which is somehow an improvement to waitlists like the poor won't just die instead of seeing a dr).

Not to mention the US has invaded so many countries with politics farther left then theirs just to install right wing terrorists and then get mad when some of those terrorists they straight up funded do a 9/11 to them like they have slaughtered thousands to "spread democracy" by overthrowing democratically elected leaders all over the world for being "too socialist" or communist so how do you know socialism doesn't work? If it doesn't it's because America specifically has never allowed it to, like you can't invade every single country that does things mildly different, completely destroy them, and then say "see socialism doesn't work!" like you had nothing to do with the collapse of that system???? It's literally the meme of Eric Andre shooting that guy and being like "how come socialism didn't work!" like they didn't just shoot socialism in the face in cold blood. The real question, is Kusanagi bending someone over the bar a sign that he really loves this person or an ultimate transgression that he would never do even for the person he loved the most? (…I’m team ‘let Kusanagi bend people over the bar,’ for the record). I feel like Fushimi and Kusanagi would get on well in their private moments, even outside of being in a relationship Kusanagi is one of the few Homra members that Fushimi respects and I could see them just enjoying spending time together idly chatting. In particular I wonder if Kusanagi would like talking to Fushimi about things regarding the bar, like not in a ‘Kusanagi’s love language is discussing his bar’ way (though that exists, I can see it) but that he appreciates being able to talk about the minutiae of owning a business with someone who will catch on immediately. This can also be a way of just sounding things out for himself or asking Fushimi’s advice, like Kusanagi knows Fushimi’s smart and this is a good way to keep Fushimi’s attention and have him relax, giving him something to focus on so there’s no stifling silence that Fushimi feels like he has to fill. In a weird way I could even see them having a ‘date’ that’s just Fushimi helping Kusanagi balance his books, Kusanagi tells Fushimi he doesn’t have to help and Fushimi flushes a little and mumbles that Kusanagi’s looked stressed and this isn’t any trouble to Fushimi at all. 

 For more formal dates Kusanagi would probably enjoy spoiling Fushimi in his own way, like he’s not doting the way Munakata is but Kusanagi also strikes me as someone who likes to show the person he’s dating a good time. Obviously this is a little trickier with Fushimi, who isn’t the type for big parties and probably doesn’t enjoy going to fancy wineries or anything, but Kusanagi manages. I think he would know a lot of nice out of the way places that are high class but have a good mix of food that even picky Fushimi will like, and what the best time to go is so that there’s no crowd. He probably even knows enough people that Fushimi doesn’t even have to dress up regardless of the normal dress code, Kusanagi enjoys the occasional grand gesture and he wants Fushimi to be as comfortable as possible. 

When their clans find out Homra’s probably pretty surprised, like they all knew Kusanagi wasn’t shy about complimenting Fushimi but they didn’t realize he meant it romantically. The Homra guys definitely get to gossiping about whether or not Fushimi’s been bent over the bar, at least until someone slips and mentions it when Kusanagi’s in earshot and they all are suddenly in fear for their lives. On the S4 end Awashima is cautious but willing to approve as long as Kusanagi behaves himself with their gloomy third in command. You know Munakata would be totally annoyed though, here he stole this kid fair and square and now Kusanagi’s stealing him back to be his boyfriend. I imagine Kusanagi treating Munakata as like his chilly disapproving mother in law, the rare times he comes to pick Fushimi up at S4 probably involve the two of them trading fake-polite words while Fushimi sighs and clicks his tongue like you two enjoy yourselves I’m taking myself out to dinner.
