No, I didn’t go snorkeling. But I DID go to the Florida Aquarium in Tampa with Robin, her Mom, and her daughter, Shannon. The visit was several years ago. I used a photo I took as the reference for this watercolor painting on a greeting card. Hope you like it.

SUNK COSTS, 8x10in oil on canvas board
this was my first time working with oil paints and so much fun, though lots of learning involved. Like any piece it was so hard to capture in photo, in part because it won’t be dry enough to varnish for at least another 6 months 😳
reference credit to the fantastic cinematography on Better Call Saul! This piece is largely the result of not being able to get this scene out my head since I saw it.
Full blog post about oils and this painting (with lots of WIP shots!) on my ko-fi (access via link tree in bio!)

🍋Squeeze the Day! I love the color combo of yellows and greens on a white background - it feels crisp and clean. I hope this sparks some happy and inspires you too!
I got some Baohong paper samples to try and was pretty impressed. Of all the 100% cotton papers, I can see why this one is almost as expensive and a great backup to Arches. I do think the colors are more vibrant on this paper than what I typically see with arches. I think I might order a big block and see if it's just as good.

I took the time to draw this AND paint this all in one go tonight. I really love the way it turned out, but I hate that its off center >.<
I used winsor and newton water color, colors used were red, yellow blue, white, and black. I then used colored pencils, prismacolor. Then I used a silver and white pen to finish the outline process (the white outline)

First in a series for PNW Birds that overwinter here. Working on a digital brochure to help folks know how to help care for these birds over the changing winter months. I'll post the link when it's available for anyone interested in helping the birdies out. Until then, please enjoy my take on the fierce little Anna's Hummingbird. If you wanna know more about the colors used, just ask. :)
