first kiss vibes or whatever✨
She had tasted the blood of a dragon only once before.
They were 13 and running through the winding roads surrounding the Keep as they evaded their handmaidens that hollered at them from several yards behind. With a heart teeming with innocent rebellion and gentle fire simmering in her veins, Rhaenyra had drawn Alicent in close by the elbow and whispered into her ear.
On a hushed count to 3, Alicent found herself being jerked to the left when Rhaenyra quickly changed their course and took off running. Young and exuberant, it was easy to gain distance from the women and soon they were erupting into a fit of giggles as they darted around unsuspecting passersby that happened to be in the way of their path.
Alicent could hardly breathe against the wind whipping past her cheeks; it picked up the faster they ran, hand in hand until she could barely feel her face. Sparing a look over at her dearest companion, her stomach swooped, and she wondered if this was what it felt like to fly.
The cacophony of voices faded the moment they barreled into the gardens. Cobblestones transformed to plush grass that softened their footfalls, keeping them hidden until they slowed into a comfortable walk. The silence soon filled with their effort to catch their breaths between laughs that still bubbled up their throats.
Heart pounding, Alicent drew in a final deep breath and reached forward with a giggle to brush some silver hair away from her friend’s crystal violet eyes. She carefully tucked it behind her ear before running the same hand down the front of her own dress to smooth out any creases made during their escape.
“Have you gone mad?” She asked once they began strolling further into the garden, disappearing between the tall maze of hedges, “Surely, we will be banished to our rooms once we return.”
“Nonsense.” Rhaenyra scoffed and playfully rolled her eyes, swinging their still joined hands between them. “I am the princess.”
“That is very well, but I am-”
“And you are my lady.” Smiling brightly, Rhaenyra bumped her shoulder against Alicent’s, “No harm shall ever come to you.”
Alicent laughed and tilted her chin to the sky, warming her face in the sun, “That makes you sound more like a gallant knight, than a princess.”
Widening her eyes with mirth, she squeezed Rhaenyra’s hand and held it to her chest dramatically.
“Will you rescue me from my tower?” she teased, sticking her tongue out in jest.
Rhaenyra pursed her lips, raising a defined eyebrow before admitting, “I am not the best climber, as these dresses prove to be quite the hindrance when performing such acts of bravery.”
Alicent smiled and dropped their hands back down, nodding in agreement, “The skirts are fairly long I suppose.”
Rhaenyra hummed, casting a sideways glance at her, “I would do it for you, though.”
Looking over, Alicent noted that the softness of her voice had infiltrated her eyes as well and it made her heart stir in the middle of her chest. Before she got a chance to speak her turn, Rhaenyra gasped and released her hand to skip over to one of the hedges overgrown with an array of flowers that had been left to their wild nature. Petals overlapping and stems intertwined, it took Rhaenyra a moment to decide which to pluck.
“I can also bring you offerings...should you choose to accept them, that is.”
She shot Alicent a smile over her shoulder, then turned back to her task of freeing a burgundy-colored rose from its confines. Suppressing a laugh, Alicent stood with her hands clasped in front of her, rocking back on her heels while she waited with learned patience.
“Are the flowers a bit too strong for you, dear knight?”
The laughter she was trying to keep at bay started to break through her frail composure but died quickly when Rhaenyra hissed and tugged her hand back from the leaves.
“Rhaenyra?” she asked, concern flooding her voice, “Are you alright?”
Shaking her hand out, she caught the corner of her bottom lip between her teeth and huffed, “It’s nothing, just a bothersome thorn is all.”
Tutting, Alicent stepped up beside her and held her hand out, “Let me see.”
Without reluctance, Rhaenyra placed her upturned hand in Alicent’s palm. In the center of her pointer fingertip was a perfect prick mark. A deep red drop of blood pooled there, a stark contrast against her fair skin.
“Does it hurt?” Alicent asked softly, studying the small wound.
She saw Rhaenyra shake her head from the corner of her eye and she couldn’t resist a smile when she answered, “No, I am a dragon.”
“A dragon, a knight, a princess,” Alicent murmured as she lifted Rhaenyra’s finger to her lips without a second thought and placed a careful kiss there. The blood stuck onto her lips, and she licked them clean before looking up to meet her friend’s eyes. Her tongue was laced with iron, the metallic tinge sliding down her throat once she swallowed, but instead of being repulsed, she was filled with a strange, yet familiar warmth.
She didn’t know what it meant, but the small exchange felt important.
“Are there any other titles you wish to go by? Your Grace, perhaps, some day?”
Color rushed to Rhaenyra’s cheeks as she stared, distracted by Alicent’s red-stained bottom lip. She blinked a few times, took a slow, measured breath, and then leaned in before she could stop herself to press a chaste kiss to her lips.
Stunned, Alicent stood frozen in place for a pause before she dared to let herself melt into the distracting softness of Rhaenyra’s lips. Her eyes remained closed longer than necessary and her rabbit heart began to beat almost too fast within the confines of her ribcage. She held her breath until she felt Rhaenyra rest her forehead against her own.
Rhaenyra shook her head once, let out a quiet sigh as their noses brushed and took Alicent’s hands in her own, “I will always just be Rhaenyra when I’m with you.”
It had been their first shared kiss, and that simple, innocent act left the taste of Rhaenyra’s life force forever burned on Alicent’s tongue.

Imagine the team telling each other “I love you” any time they have to split up while working a case or even just leaving the office to go home at night. It starts happening shortly after Hayley dies. They come to the realization that life is too short and they care about each other too much for them to not express it more often.
Penelope starts it off,no surprise there. She says it to Emily before hanging up and does it so casually that Emily says it back without even thinking about it.No one found it odd either. They just continue with their discussion about the unsub.
They all started to do it after a while, even Hotch and Rossi.Well,it was almost always just a “you too” from Rossi, but you can tell he meant it and it was still something.
It usually catches the detectives that they’re working with completely off guard, especially when Hotch says because of his otherwise very rugged demeanor.
Idk where I’m going with this,I just felt like sharing :)
