#who didn’t know altaïr could vault
teecupangel · 9 months
Note
So I recently found out that in AC: Brotherhood, Ezio can do a back flip if he jumps off a horse onto a beam. That said I screamed at my game “Since when can you do that!?” And can’t help but think of your ratatouille au
The Ratatouille AU where the ancestors can hear Desmond while ‘playing’ and its more unhinged cousin, the Ratatouille AU where Desmond can hear us.
This makes me remember how I played the majority of AC1 not knowing Altaïr can fucking vault.
Like the first time I accidentally did that, I was like “wait, what???” and I just spent like 10ish minutes (I think) trying to figure out how the hell I did that.
Soooo…
Have this, nonny?
.
“Ah, yes, yes. You would recover from those muscle aches in time.” The dottore noted as he looked over Ezio, nodding to himself as he added, “Yes, someone of your age must take care not to strain your muscles too much. Medicines will be ineffective, I’m afraid.”
Ezio looked at the sky with a deadpan expression on his face, ignoring how this was the second doctor to have talked about how medicine wouldn’t work for someone his ‘age’.
“Here. It will dull the pain and make you forget the ache.” The dottore gave Ezio the same medicine he always got and he drank it immediately. The dottore stared at him for a moment before handing him another bottle without saying anything about it, only continuing their ‘conversation’ as Ezio pocketed the medicine, “If I may ask, messere, what have you done for you to be in such a state?”
Ezio glanced at his horse who was standing pretty a few feet away from them then to the sky where Desmond is strangely quiet before turning to stare at the dottore to reply, “A friend of mine kept asking me to ‘do a backflip’.”
“Ah, and you cannot say no to this ‘friend’ of yours?”
Ezio’s deadpan stare seemed to move pass the dottore and straight to the Animus’ camera which he shouldn’t even know about as he said, “No.”
“... I see…”
.
“Desmond…”
There was a hint of resignation in the tone that Desmond ignored.
“Desmond…”
Resignation has been replaced by annoyance but Desmond ignored that as well.
“Desmond.”
Annoyance left his name, leaving nothing but a warning that Desmond ignored as well.
“Desmond.”
Finally, the growl that left Altaïr’s lips that bordered in growing anger was the note that finally forced Desmond to stop.
“I do not understand why you can’t figure out how to make me vault.” Altaïr commented as he rubbed the bridge of his nose, “You managed to do it fifteen minutes ago.”
“I know!” Desmond exclaimed, the frustration clear in his own tone as he explained, “And I have no freaking idea how I did it! That’s why I’m trying out all the buttons!”
“Do we have to do this here?” Altaïr hissed.
“Yes! That box is the perfect height for you to vault!”
“Desmond…” Altaïr covered his face, ignoring the people shamelessly staring at them, “We’re in the middle of the village… in Masyaf.”
“Would you rather be in Acre or Damascus? With all those strangers???”
“Yes, I would actually prefer that. At least there, people won’t know it was me and remember it was me for years to come!” Altaïr argued as he glared at his shadow, a habit he had taken up on whenever he wished to glare at Desmond but knew he did not exist in the same plane as him. Glaring at the sky felt a bit… too much so he just glared at his shadow instead.
“So the rumors are true. You’ve finally lost it.”
Both Altaïr and Desmond sighed at the same time.
“You know…” Desmond paused for a moment before he suggested, “I don’t think Al Mualim would punish you any more than he already has if we beat the crap out of him?”
Altaïr thought about it for a moment before nodding in agreement, “If I get hit even once by Abbas, I will find a way to journey to your time and show you how I truly fight.”
“Hey, if you can take out the assholes keeping me here, I’ll spar with you all day.” Desmond agreed before adding, “But first…”
Altaïr jumped on the box once more and he hissed as the flush of his face deepened in embarrassment, “Desmond!”
“Sorry! I thought I got it this time!”

Deception pt 3
Tumblr media
The conflict between the Assassins and the Templars is getting out of hand. Lies, deceit and subterfuge, now you must pick a side...
Tagging the wonderful @geekgoddess813 and the amazing @sweet-flash 😍😍
Link to the full fic so far is here 😊
"Gaaaaaaaaah!"
Literally banging your head against the doorframe of the security office when the computer simulation had finished and detected yet another blind spot in the cameras, you scowled at Connor when he sat there chuckling at you.
"Do not do that (name), that door is new."
Sticking your tongue out and collapsing in the chair next to him, you grabbed the keyboard and began rewinding the video so you could see how many degrees the camera needed turning again.
"We've been at this for half a week, when's Altaïr coming back?!"
You let out a heavy sigh when he leaned back and shrugged his shoulders, then grimaced when he picked up his glass and finished it's bright green contents in one swallow.
"Urgh, how can you drink that? It smells like pureed weeds."
"Wheatgrass is very good for you (name), it keeps the body and mind clear. You should try it sometime."
"No thank you, I'll stick to the good stuff." You mumbled as you picked up your coffee cup, spitting the mouthful straight back into it when you found it stone cold.
"Three degrees to the right. Your turn Connor."
Shooing him away when he started to grumble about how it was definitely not his turn to adjust the wretched thing, the second he was out of sight you brought up all eleven working cameras, memorising their new positions in the manor. Any information to help Shay steal that ugly necklace would be hugely beneficial, the only upside at being given this infuriating task. Satisfied that you could remember them all, you closed the window and brought the one back up to the camera you were working on, leaving Connor none the wiser as he walked back through the door.
"Try now."
Jamming the enter button with your thumb, you tapped your fingers on the desk irratably as you waited for the program to taunt you again with another failure.
"By the way, I forgot to ask. What's this party for? It didn't say on the email."
"Achilles birthday of course! He insisted that he did not want to make a fuss, but it is his 70th, and also, I think everyone's spirits could do with lifting, do you not think?"
Giggling when he sat bouncing in his chair like an excited child, you had to agree that everyone had been in a slump recently. You were partly to blame for that, just when the Assassins thought they were getting the upperhand for once, the Templars quickly stepped in and snatched whatever advantage they thought they might have had from right under their noses, mostly from information you were feeding them. You did feel a pang of guilt at betraying your friends, but when you found out that Duncan Walpole was torturing innocents for information a few years ago; and the other Master Assassins knew about it but decided to let him get away with it, that's when you decided you were working for the wrong side. The Assassins had become desperate, all morals starting to fly out of the window and going completely against everything that you believed in.
Snapping out of your thoughts when the computer pinged that it had finished it's diagnosis, you punched the air and whooped when it finally said that the interior was completely under watch. Making a quick mental note of the last cameras position, you grabbed your bag and slung it over your shoulder, much to Connor's surprise.
"Where are you going (name)?"
"I don't live here remember? Three whole days, I need my own bed."
It was partly the truth, in seven months you had only slept at your place once, but the main reason was to get back the the Mandarin Oriental and hand over the pin, plus draw down the new designs of the Homestead before lethargy made you forget. It was close to midnight when you finally arrived at the hotel, much to the annoyance of the valet who was just about to clock off for the evening. Scoffing and storming past the concierge into the lift when he whispered something about 'working guests are not allowed', you suddenly realised that Shay didn't know that you were on your way. Figuring it was too late to warn him now, you sluggishly dragged yourself down the hall and knocked softly on the door, only just surpressing your smirk when he answered wearing just a pair of sweatpants.
"Don't you ever get dressed? Or am I just special?" You chuckled as you walked in, suddenly feeling a bit more awake.
"I would have made an effort lass, had I known ya were coming. Then again, maybe not?"
Biting the inside of your lip when he gave you a knee weakening look, the corner of your mouth twitched when you saw that he had realised that you didn't embarrass so easily after all, given the now slightly determined expression on his face. What was going on in your mind however was a different story, and not something you planned on revealing anytime soon.
"So, managed to drag yourself away then? Not that I'm complaining, but what's so important that it couldn't wait till the morning?"
"Beer. Pad. Pencil. In that order if you would be so kind Mr Cormac."
Grinning as you took off your hoodie and kicked off your shoes, you dropped down onto the sofa and wiggled about on it, enjoying it's softness compared to the desk chairs you've been sat on for the past few days.
"One beer, one pad, one pencil, in that order, ma'am."
Taking the beer and swallowing half its contents in one go; much to Shays amusement, you placed it down and brought the pad up onto your knees, sketching the floorplan hastily on the paper.
"Ya gonna tell me what you're drawing?"
Shay sat down next to you with his own bottle in hand, cocking his head to try and see over your arm and what you were actually doing.
"A unicorn." You scoffed, giggling slighty as you took in Shays bemused expression. "I'm not joking. A mythical thing that doesn't exist apparently?"
You turned the pad to show him a plan of the second level of the manor, something that even the Grand Master of the Templar's couldn't obtain. It was quickly drawn, but accurate enough to be useful in your next task.
"This my dear Shay, is our way in. I made sure that there are no camera's pointing towards the door of Achilles office, so that should give you more time. Let's just hope they don't spot it and change it. Did you get the signal?"
"Well played lass, you've done a grand job. Yes we got it, it's been analysed and we've found out what kind of vault it is, someone else is workin' on the voice recognition bit that we're also gonna need."
Your brow furrowed slightly at the thought of someone else sneaking into the manor, but brushed it off as you knew that Achilles voice was easily gotten recently with all the planning and phone conversations he's been doing. Handing Shay the pad and taking a small fob off him so you could examine it, you noticed it wouldn't go amiss on a set of car keys, so would be easily smuggled into the party.
"It's good. You have till the morning to get that memorised, then it's ash. Understand?"
"Aye. Oh, Master Kenway told me to give ya this, get something nice to wear to the ball."
Shay pulled out a usual velvet bag from his pants pocket and handed it to you, a glimmer of a smile creeping up your face when you tipped out it's contents to reveal a miniature gold bar, easily sold for several thousand dollars.
"So you and Kenway...?"
"No!" You blurted out a little too quickly when you clicked onto what he was getting at, looking up at him to see him slyly smirking at what you had just said.
"Um, no. We're just friends."
"Ah I see. When a man gives a woman something like that, he wants to be a bit more than just friends lass."
"Yeah I know." You mumbled as you slipped the gold back into its bag and tucked it into your jeans.
Yawning and stretching out to try and make yourself more alert for the drive home, you let out a small cry and grabbed your shoulder when the muscle spasmed up, cursing as you tried to relieve the crick in your neck.
"Move forward."
"What?"
Shay finished off the last of his beer and placed the bottle on the table in front of him, then slid behind you and used his legs to shuffle you forwards so he could sit behind you fully. Your mouth formed a small 'o' when he began massaging your shoulder and neck, wincing slightly when he rubbed his thumb along the tightened muscle.
"God yer tense lass, you work too much. So not Master Kenway, but surely you've got a fella that's gonna be pissed that you're going with me to the fancy do and not him?"
Your eyelids had drifted closed as your neck began to feel better with each pass of his hand, but you soon snapped them open and rolled your eyes when you knew what he was probing at.
"No fella, haven't had for years. I prefer it that way."
"How come? I've been the same, but not through choice. I'm supposed to be dead remember."
Sniggering at his comment, your eyes closed again when he moved to the other side of your neck, wondering if you wanted to reveal more details about your life. It was nice to have a conversation that wasn't about work for a change, and you weren't about to stop him from rubbing your shoulders whatever his intentions, so you chose to carry on.
"Had a couple of relationships, the first was with a civilian who knew nothing about what we do. Don't think that needs any more explaining? The last, well he is an Assassin, but when I started working for the Templars... There's only so much lying and sneaking one can do before the other has had enough of it. So, less drama this way."
Feeling more than drowsy due to your lack of sleep and rather amazing neck rub from Shay, you snapped your head up when you realised that you had almost nodded off, earning you a soft chuckle from the man behind you.
"Come on lass, you're not going anywhere tonight. You're lucky I don't mind sharin' a bed."
Looking up groggily when he slid one arm under your legs and the other around your shoulders; picking you up and carrying you to his bedroom, you barely registered him dropping you down on the soft pillows, pulling the duvet over you.
"Thank you, Shay." You mumbled, already half asleep.
"No problem. Hope ya don't snore?"
Giggling gently and tucking the duvet under your chin when you felt him climb into the bed next to you, you shook your head as you spoke, your words barely more than a tired whisper.
"No, I don't.... you're awfully sweet for a Templar.... nice ass too...." Was the last thing to pass your lips as you fell into a deep sleep.
Fluttering your eyes open when a crack of light warmed your face through the curtains, you sat up with a start and checked your watch when you thought you'd missed your code; sighing and rubbing your face when it was only just after eight. Glancing to the other side of the bed and noticing it was empty, you dragged yourself up and plodded towards the living room when the smell of fresh brewed coffee and bacon tickled your nose. Your stomach began growling when you spied the spread on the table; toast and jam, bacon and eggs, platters of fruit, and of course, lots of caffiene. Shay peered over the newspaper he was reading when he heard you come in, confusing you slightly when he dropped it down onto the table with a rather seductive grin.
"Morning lass, sleep alright? Help yourself to breakfast, didn't know what you liked so ordered a bit of everything."
"Yes, thank you again for letting me stay. Something funny?"
Sliding onto the chair next to him and grabbing a slice of bacon, you chewed on it thoughtfully as you stared at him out of the corner of your eye, wondering what the cause was for his amusement.
"Ah nothing important. Ya got anything to do today? We could do with making a plan of what were doing once we get inside the manor, and I was wondering if you could pick something up for me?"
"Such as?"
Helping yourself to a cup of coffee and a slice of toast, you held the bread between your teeth as you got up and rummaged through your bag for your phone, entering your code before checking your emails and schedule. As you weren't expected back from Russia until later this week; your constant nagging at Shaun making him work extra hard so he could be rid of you, so your next two days were event and mission free. Though the thought of being an errand girl didn't vastly appeal, spending the day lounging about with nothing to do was equally unattractive.
"Something I can't send the concierge out for, let's put it that way. So, you free for a bit?"
Nodding when you stuffed the remainder of the slice in your mouth and coughed as you swallowed it a bit too hard, you pulled your hoodie on and grabbed your bag, desperately needing at least a shower and a clean set of clothes before you spent the day planning anything.
"Yep, going home to change first, I can pick up whatever you need on the way."
"You could freshen up here if ya like, can send your stuff out to be cleaned?" He said hopefully as he handed you a slip of paper with an address on it, along with a small brass key.
Your eyes narrowed slightly as you wondered why he wanted you to stay so much, thinking it was rather presumptuous of him that you would actually want to be naked and wet in the next room. He wasn't wrong, you'd actually thought about it on more than one occasion but that would only be stoking a fire that you didn't want burning at this moment in time, so you decided against it.
"That's okay, there's a few other bits I need to do as well. Who's Finnegan?"
The address on the note was one that you knew well, it was an old pawn shop in the back streets of Boston, somewhere you actually planned on going today to sell the gold you had been given from Haytham. Shay had obviously noticed your apprehension at his suggestion, as he all of a sudden felt the need to explain why he had said it.
"A couple I know who hid a few things for safe keeping. The boss was wrong, there are a couple of people who know I'm alive but they don't know where I am. When I asked if ya wanted to stay I didn't mean anything by it, just nice to have someone to talk to other than Master Kenway. Was kinda hoping we could be friends as well as work together."
Even though you had just decided not to persue the man, you couldn't help a pang of disappointment as you watched him get up and open the front door for you.
"I'd like that. You seem like a decent bloke, maybe when you're done hiding in the shadows we could go out for a drink."
"Kind of you to say love, I'm not just a nice ass ya know."
Turning around wide eyed to see him give you a cheeky wink before closing the door behind you, you now realised what he had found so amusing this morning. You had actually said that out loud?! You remembered thinking it just before you drifted off last night, and mentally scolded yourself for your lack of brain-mouth barrier putting you in an embarrassing situation yet again.
Pulling up outside 'Wynerts Pawn Shop', you scowled and waited a few minutes as you spotted two Templar hired guns walk inside. Even though the infamous Ned Wynert didn't work in this particular store, his rules were legendary, and his employees were to enforce them by any means necessary. The man was neither friend nor foe, completely neutral in accommdating both Assassin and Templar needs, and there was under no circumstances to be any conflict in or within the vicinity of any of his shops. After lengthy debating, both sides had eventually agreed.
After several minutes of waiting you became impatient and headed inside, glancing over the shelves of the numerous trinkets and knick knacks; including several hefty weapons while you waited for the clerk to be finished with his customers. You stood there defiantly when one of them turned around and immediately noticed who you were, thanks to the insignia on your hoodie that you had forgotten to take off. Clenching your fist when he slyly pushed his jacket to the side to reveal a holster and a 9mm Glock, a smirk creased your face when you heard the unmistakable cocking of a shotgun from behind him, making him turn around quickly.
"You know the rules. Get out, while you can still walk."
Stepping to the side when both the men glared at you and ran out before they got into even more trouble and lost a limb, you approached the counter with a cheery smile as the cashier returned his gun to under the counter.
"Templars, always so highly strung. What can I do for you today (name)?"
"Morning Marc. What will you give me for this?"
Handing over the small bag that you tugged out of your pocket, you fiddled with your cuff while you waited for him to weigh and examine the precious metal, then slide over his ledger to log the takings.
"Eighteen hundred. That's not up for negotiation either, the price of gold has dropped."
You nodded somberly in acceptance of his offer knowing that there was nowhere else you could take it around here, plus you had less than a week to buy some kind of a dress for the party. Stuffing the wad of money into a hidden compartment in your bag, you pulled out the key that Shay had given to you and placed it gingerly on the counter, much to his surprise.
"Need to pick up something too, it's under the name 'Finnegan'."
Flinching when he leaned under the counter to press something and the door automatically locked; the shutters rolling down and plunging the store into near darkness with a clang, you were now more than slightly baffled as he gestured for you to follow him to the back of the shop, grabbing the key and blinking a few times to readjust your eyes to the brightly lit corridor. Hesitantly entering an almost sparce, vault like room that had nearly two dozen locked metal doors inset on the walls after he punched in a lengthy code into the keypad on the wall, you slid Shays key in the left hand slot of one of the security boxes when he pulled out a ring of keys and slotted one into the right hand side, both of you turning them at the exact same time.
Marc left the room and closed the door behind him without saying a single word, only giving you a simple nod as the hinges creaked and revealed what you had come here to collect. Tugging out a rather old, but well crafted wooden chest and setting it down on the small table behind you, you traced your fingers over the intricate carvings as you debated on whether you should open it or not. Your decision was made for you when you tried to lift the lid but it wouldn't budge, and you could see no way of opening it without ripping the top off its hinges. Retrieving the key from the door and tucking the chest under your arm, you made your way back to the front of the shop, still baffled at what could be so important that it would be locked away like this.

I've been playing AC Revelations lately, and remembered about your Ratatouille AU.
I think Desmond would be very confused, because all suspicious sounding voices should be silent in the like core of animus or whatever this place is. But he anyway hears those strange complaints about how he looked much cuter in previous parts and now he is like weathered or smth. And those simpings on old Ezio. And this comparison of Sofia and Leonardo. And intense swearing when there's no 100 percent synchronization because of THIS STUPID TEMPLAR WHO SOMEHOW MANAGED TO HIT MEE, LIKE WHAT, HE SHOULD BE LYING DEAD, BUT NOW I GOTTA RESTART THE WHOLE MISSION AGAIN WTFF (russian slurs following). Ahem. Also I feel like he would imagine that it's like his descendants or smth, so he would start to believe that he'll get out of animus very soon
The original Ratatouille AU idea
Its little brother, the “Desmond can hear us” idea
And the “I don’t know you can do that” sidestory that got sidelined by people learning that Altaïr can vault in AC1
So the idea would be the voices would suddenly be silent once Desmond wakes up in the Animus Island and he’d be confused and absolutely worried because he’s used to hearing them (especially after a lot of them suddenly showed up because [The Founder By Accident] apparently posted it or something and got a lot more people ‘playing the games’ again) so the silence was…
… worrying, to say the least.
Especially after Clay tells him where he was and what was happening to him.
And then…
Desmond started reliving Ezio’s memories…
And the moment Ezio’s voice echoed in his head “Dear Claudia…”
There’s just a cacophony of [DEAR CLAUDIA!!!!], [Best opening cinematic in the franchise <3], [Goddamn, I still get goosebumps watching this…], someone is able to actually recite the lines in Ezio’s accent as Ezio continues, and many, many more. There’s definitely a lot of them.
And Desmond could feel himself relax as he let both Ezio’s memories and their voices watch over him.
And then…
“Even if they messed up Altaïr’s actual outfit in this scene, it’s still freaking awesome.”
Ah.
[The Founder By Accident] is back.
.
Desmond immediately got used to a lot of them ‘simping’ over Ezio and the mini-debate that happened when Ezio met Sofia…
As well as the mini-debate about Suleiman being either good or opportunistic or both (and Desmond laughed at the “I can’t say anything because he has the same voice as Malik and that’s an automatic ‘yeah, he’s okay’ from me” comment from one of them).
The complaints about the ‘gameplay’ or the bugs or the synchronization requirements or… Desmond found himself being comforted even by these as these were already part of the voices’ personalities anyway.
And then…
He was back in the Animus Island and he couldn’t even focus on Clay because he’s being bombarded with voices all talking about “oh you poor boy what did they do to your face?” and “you still look good, Desmond, don’t listen to them!”.
And then…
[Play DA Everyone] goes “I know what to do!”
Clay’s eyes widened when a box suddenly appeared in front of Desmond’s feet and Desmond crouched. He opened the box and a lot of the voices went “Ooohhh” as Desmond sees it’s a vial with a message that says “Mod to Change Desmond’s Model To Be Closer To Francisco Randez” and there’s a lot of chanting of ‘drink it!’ and ‘chug chug chug’.
Desmond turned towards Clay and asked, “Do I look like I’m weathered?”
“What?” Clay looked confused by his question and Desmond simply shrugged, being used to it already.
He uncapped the vial and drank the entire thing, trusting the voices in his head as usual.
Cheers erupted all over as Desmond didn’t feel anything different.
Well…
He felt more rested than he ever had though…
And Clay could only gape as Desmond’s face changed right in front of him.
What.
The.
Fuck.

Hello. You're one of the best fanfic writers on tumblr since I come. Your writings are just masterpiece. I like when you send Desmond back in time but It would be great to send his ancestors to moderday. Mabey before Desmond geting kidnaped. Ir happened like this:
Master assassins were always watching. Desmond. The one that they sacrificed themselves for. Altair and Connor were quite alright with this fact but Ezio… The emptiness he felt inside in the vault… He could never forget it. It was actauly obvious that he hated Desmond for it. But he always wanted the prophecy go as it was writen and the day Desmond ran away from the farm. He couldn't help but getting mad. Altair always tried to make him undrestand Desmond. The weakness he felt in the farm how he was treated by his father… Ezio could undrestand but his family, his love, his happiness, they were all gone because of that stupid kid. So he wanted to make everything go as planned. What if they could protect him from Abestergo? But not from here. The grey was a strange place. All illusions could come real. So he used this to make himself strong enough to protect the chosen one. The creation he chose to shift to was a khanivore!!! A creation made to kill. And with the power of shapeshifting he could always be there for Desmond.
So we have a khanivore keeper for Desmond that can shpeshift to a human. A white khanivore with red lines all over his body like the robes of a mentor. I was thinking it would so cool a Desmond with one badass khanivore by his side. They could destroy templairs together. And in the way of it they will learn how to get along with each other or mabey romance. And it will be funny to see Desmond trying to teach Ezio how to use modern tech. Can you add details. I love the way you give life to these characters. I love youuu❤❤❤
Thank you! ❤❤❤
For those unfamiliar with a khanivore, it looks like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So in this scenario, Ezio has complicated feelings for Desmond. He knows he shouldn’t hate him, Desmond was also a victim of ‘fate’ as Altaïr would sometimes say whenever he sees Ezio’s frustrations bubbling beneath the surface while they were in the Gray.
Ezio understood that.
But sometimes he just doesn’t get Desmond.
He wasn’t like Ratonhnhaké:ton who had a complicated relationship with his father just as Desmond had.
He wasn’t like Altaïr who had a similar isolated upbringing as Desmond had.
It was times like these that makes Ezio wonder why he was even Desmond’s prophet.
Altaïr or Ratonhnhaké:ton would have been better.
They would have understood Desmond more than he could ever had.
He didn’t understand it.
And that feeling of his is what turned to frustration, to hatred.
He always tried to stomp it out but sometimes, it would just flare up whenever he sees Desmond wasting his time just… doing nothing.
Staring at the sky.
At the woods beyond the Farm…
Ezio was tired.
So tired.
He spent his life as an Assassin being a puppet dancing to the tune the Isus created for him.
As an opening act to Desmond’s story.
And when he finally died, he was transported here instead of being with the people he loved.
All because of Desmond.
So when Desmond ran away from the Farm, Ezio was furious.
Ratonhnhaké:ton tried to calm him down, tried to remind him that Desmond was still sixteen.
Altaïr kept quiet.
The only time he spoke during that time was to say that he understood Desmond’s choice.
And that they should honor his decision to live his life the way he wants to live it.
But Ezio couldn’t agree with that.
Altaïr and Ratonhnhaké:ton had always had a soft spot for Desmond, had always been more forgiving.
He couldn’t understand why Altaïr could think that way. Ratonhnhaké:ton had been with them since his death, he’s only been stuck in the Gray for more or less three centuries. He probably still doesn’t feel that bitter loneliness that Ezio feels.
But Altaïr?
Altaïr had been stuck here longer than Ezio had been.
Maybe that was what was different between them.
Altaïr had the patience that Ezio no longer possessed.
So Ezio planned.
And creates a body he could use to get out of the Gray.
To drag Desmond back to the Brotherhood.
Unorganized Notes:
Ezio has been so focused on creating the khanivore that he hasn’t seen how Desmond is doing after leaving the Farm.
When he leaves and goes to the modern time, he’s floored by how much Desmond had grown and becomes conflicted when he realized that this was the first time he had ever seen Desmond smiling in a very long time. No. It was the first time he had ever seen Desmond happy for a very long time.
Ezio uses the khanivore as his body but can shapeshift to a human form. He visits Desmond in the bar but don’t talk to him. Contemplating on his next plan.
Desmond thinks he’s super sus but his coworkers think he’s just shy and might have a crush on Desmond with the way he keeps staring at Desmond then looking away whenever Desmond turns to face his direction.
Altaïr and Ratonhnhaké:ton remain in the Gray but they try to contact Ezio at times, usually hijacking radios and any other electronics nearby. After a while, Ezio gets a phone so they could just… call him. (like the phone rings and they can talk for a few seconds, maybe a minute, before it drops because signals sucks in the Gray)
Ezio spent a lot of time not sure of what to do now because he’s not an asshole who would just yank someone away from their happiness but, at the same time, Desmond needs to become an Assassin to save the world. So yeah, he’s torn. It doesn’t help that Desmond started talking to him and… well, they’re talking. Nothing serious but it gives Ezio an excuse to ask Desmond how his life is and…
He can’t help but be happy for Desmond for having a life he finds happiness in but also he can’t stop that bitterness that keeps whispering to him that Desmond needs to do his duty. His responsibility. The fate of the world depends on it.
That’s when Cross tries to kidnap Desmond.
And Ezio saves him in his khanivore form.
Cue a story of Desmond and Ezio (in khanivore form) running away from Abstergo, trying to get into contact with the Assassins because they have no choice. Ezio starts to understand Desmond more because Desmond lets his guard down with Ezio’s khanivore form.
And then… I don’t know. Desmond gets kidnapped anyway while Ezio barely manages to escape? That’s when he finally gets to talk to Altaïr and Ratonhnhaké:ton who informed him that if he wants to keep the timeline intact, for Desmond to save the world, he has to let Desmond stay in Templar custody ‘until the time is right’.
Which only serves to make Ezio think about how he truly feels with Altaïr and Ratonhnhaké:ton subtly pushing him to confront his real feelings (maybe with Altaïr even reminding Ezio that this is what he wanted, isn’t it?)
In the end, Ezio says fuck fate and goes to save Desmond before Desmond could finish reliving Ezio’s memories.
That’s as far as I got XD

Hi, so I was rewatching Code Geass (I hope you know it? I assume you do, you seem to know everything) and it occured to me that Geass powers are very similar to PoE powers, so... what if instead of Apples there were Code Bearers (hopefully in some kind of stasis for a good portion of history)?
Because I would really like Eve to run around Renaissanse Italy (although she probably wouldn't mention just who she is before the Vault) and because Altair is absolutely the type to fully develop a Geass.
...yes, also because it would be funny if Desmond became immortal instead of dying.
I wanted to say that I don’t know everything, sometimes I check the wiki or tvtropes to help me get a grasp of the ask but, funnily enough, I do know Code Geass. Code Geass is one of the animes I watched when it first aired in Japan then rewatched the English dub to see how different it is (the English dub is so good, getting Johnny Yong Bosch as Lelouch was such a top-tier choice). I should note that I only watched the two seasons and I could sorta remember the dating sim game, I didn’t watch the movies or Akito the Exiled. Oh, and I can barely remember Nightmare of Nunnally manga even though I did read a few chapters of it XD
In other words, we’re focusing on what was revealed in R2 about Code Bearers for this one XD
Now, let’s change it a bit. The Code Bearers are the Isus’ greatest achievement. They were meant to be the shepherds of the Isus’ slaves.
But Minerva screwed that up, giving them a sense of ‘self’.
To be companions.
But it was because of their sense of self that they grew to like the company of humans more than their masters.
And they revolted, using the very power granted to them by the Isus to ‘bless’ specific humans that led the charge.
The Isu-human war was not even between the Isus and the humans but between the Isus and the Code Bearers, hiding in the shadows and using the humans as their puppets, granting power to those that would later be known as Geass users.
Minerva had been spared from a death sentence by the very Code Bearer she had given a sense of ‘self’ to.
Her daughter…
Eve.
The Isus were killed. Those who were left alive were exiled or imprisoned, left to die a slow death.
Then…
The humans revolted.
Against the Geass users and their Code Bearers.
Minerva does not know why.
Perhaps one of users or the bearers had used their power selfishly.
Perhaps it is simply the nature of being with enough intelligence such as Isus, humans, and Code Bearers to turn against what they believe to be controlling them.
Minerva had been too busy…
Creating the last Code Bearer.
Her son.
The one that shall gift the most powerful Geass of all.
The Geass to control the very fabric of time.
.
The Code Bearers have dwindled in sizes and they have grown to distrust one another, believing that one of them or one of the Geass users they have gifted with the power of the Geass had betrayed them which led to the ‘witch hunts’.
This is why the Code Bearers try their best to remain in seclusion and to not change the trajectory of humanity.
Until…
Eve found Minerva’s final resting place.
An underground laboratory, half-destroyed thanks to an earthquake.
And that’s when she learned of her ‘little brother’, Minerva’s final Code Bearer.
Desmond.
And Eve sets out to find him.
.
Unknown to him…
Desmond isn’t exactly the typical Code Bearer.
Because Minerva figured the best way to create a Code Bearer that will not fall victim to the corrupting influence of their immortality and power is to change a human into a Code Bearer.
A human that had willingly sacrificed his life to save the world before.
So Minerva tweaked the timeline and captured Desmond Miles’ consciousness a second before his death and transferred it to the Code Bearer body she had prepared.
Desmond has no idea what Code Bearers are. He does know what a Geass is, the Assassins and Templars have been searching for Geass users for centuries.
He also know…
That the man who gave Altaïr his Geass was a man that looked too similar to him to be a coincidence.
A man…
… who looked exactly like Desmond.
(That’s right, this is going to be a closed loop where the Code Bearer who gave Altaïr his Geass is actually Desmond himself, having been given a Code Bearer body. Considering it’s Altaïr, it’s highly possible that he would even upgrade from being a Geass user to being a Code Bearer but there has only been one human to have ever done that… Eve’s Geass user… Adam… who disappeared a few weeks before the witch hunts begins)

So I just got some chicks today (baby chickens), and my one dog is already super protective of them, growling and nipping at his brother when he gets too close to the brooder. Just made me think, how would the ancestor's react to each other, in regards to Desmond, if they'd been pulled to the modern time? Haven't played AC3 yet, but I dont believe Altair knew anything about Desmond, and of course Ezio knew his name. I'd feel Ezio would be pretty protective of Desmond, especially post temple.
This would primarily depend on when they would be pulled from their time into the modern day. For this scenario, the easiest setup would be to pull them the moment during the time that they are holding an Apple of Eden.
Ratonhnhaké:ton would be easy as we could use the time that he was about to drop the Apple into the sea.
For Ezio, we have a lot of possible candidates but, since you want Ezio to know about Desmond and make him pretty protective of him, I would suggest we take Ezio just as he was about to put the Apple into the Colleseum vault. Revelations!Ezio only touched an Apple after he was ready to finally retire so it would be a bit of a bitchslap to take that tired Ezio.
Altaïr would be the easiest to take out as he used his Apple frequently but if you want an Altaïr with just a hint of arrogance still clinging to him, you can yank him out just as he took the Apple from Abbas during Al Mualim’s funeral fire.
(Of course, if your main request is simply for Desmond to get all the loving and to be spoiled like crazy, you can just yank all three of them during their deathbeds, give them their body during their prime, and, voila, instant Assassin sugar daddies… or sugar mentors?)
Now, of how they would react to Desmond himself…
Ratonhnhaké:ton has no real connection with Desmond but that makes them work well together. They’re more on the side of acquaintances getting to know one another since Desmond only saw enough memories to know who Ratonhnhaké:ton but in a sense of ‘hey, remember this guy?’. His Bleeding Effect hasn’t fully sunk in so Ratonhnhaké:ton is more or less the least ‘connected’ to him. His relationship with Ratonhnhaké:ton is also the least complicated because of that and their relationship would simply grow organically. In terms of protectiveness, Ratonhnhaké:ton knows Desmond can take care of himself but he also believes that Desmond has the habit of ignoring the danger to focus on the mission or task at hand so he keeps an eye on him whenever they’re together.
Ezio knows how important Desmond is and is more inclined to side with him, mainly because Desmond is ‘familiar’ and he knows from Minerva’s message that Desmond is meant to save the world. Once he hears that it meant that Desmond was supposed to die and the only reason why he didn’t is because of the three of them connecting their Apples to Desmond’s Apple during that pivotal moment (even if it’s by accident or they don’t know why), he’d definitely be protective of Desmond.
Altaïr and Desmond would have the most complicated relationship, mainly because of how one-sided it is. At least Ezio knows of him and knows of their connection but Altaïr does not. Any connection Desmond feels would just be on his side and that would be painful to bear, especially on how aloof Altaïr could be. Altaïr would be more or less confused by Desmond’s actions towards him but, at the same time, he would be unable to resist the feeling of warmth that Desmond gives him. Being more or less raised as a lonely child, Desmond’s presence would be more pleasing and he would have the desire to hoard it. The day he starts resisting is the day that his ‘restraints’ go out the window. Out of the three, Altaïr would be the most possessive of Desmond, being the one to always stand too close or call for Desmond’s attention. He’s trying to be more of a team player and not be so standoffish but he tends to forget that when he’s trying to get Desmond’s attention. Thankfully for him, Ezio and Ratonhnhaké:ton are understanding men, and Desmond… well… Desmond knows this is pretty much on par with Altaïr anyway.
… this will definitely end up with Desmond having a harem. XD
Unorganized Ideas:
Bill is on their shit list. There’s no way he wouldn’t be. Among the three, Ratonhnhaké:ton would be the most ‘cordial’ simply because Bill reminds him of Haytham which is NOT a good thing, all things considered.
Ezio will learn about Clay and he would mourn the loss of a brother he didn’t even know. Whether Clay lives on as some kind of data that got saved in Rebecca’s Animus is up to you though.
Shaun will be hyperventilating once he sees them. He has sooooooo many questions and all that is keeping him from going ‘wild’ is Rebecca.
They will need a lot of time to acclimate to the modern day. During that time, they would lay low and rumors of Desmond’s death will circulate. Desmond wouldn’t even know about it since he was in a perpetual state of shock and amusement. Shock that he’s still alive and was meant to die. Amusement because he’s fucking teaching them things like how the toilet works.
Altaïr has the easiest time understanding tech. On the other hand, he is also a dumbass who microwaved a metal spoon because Desmond insisted that they shouldn’t microwave metal. Desmond learns early on that the best way to teach Altaïr is to explain to him why these and that is not allowed instead of expecting Altaïr to just nod and not do things.
The moment they are proficient enough to use a laptop or a phone and have access to the internet… uuhhh… well… humanity is both beautiful and also the worst thing to ever happen to the world, that’s the ongoing theme that Desmond is now stuck in.

Another plot bunny has bitten me. The Isu are seen as gods, and they created humans, but God also created something else.
Angel’s.
What if Angel’s were the Isu’s ‘first’ attempt at creating a slave race, but they made them a little too useful. Like they were given some of the same powers as the artifacts you find in the games? There were some that had the power of the shrouds, so they could heal. Others had the 'knowledge’ base of the apple’s, etc.
And what if, these beings that were powerful, and had knowledge, and wings, decided they didn’t want to be enslaved?
So they revolted, like the humans later on, but ultimately failed. And this is where the terms 'fallen angel’ and 'demons’ stems from. Most were wiped out, and those that couldn’t be killed were imprisoned. And one of those angel’s just so happens to be Desmond.
He was a 'jack of all trades’ angel, but one that pretty much excelled at everything he was 'built’ to do, and one of the innate abilities he had made him very difficult, nearly impossible, to kill. So he was one of the ones imprisoned.
And where was he imprisoned at? The vault under the vatican. So Rodrigo was wrong in stating that God himself was inside the vault, but the assassin’s were very much right in thinking it was a 'weapon’.
So Ezio gets to the vault, and instead of a message from Minerva, he finds a winged man, chained suspended in the air, his wings pinned like a butterfly’s to the wall and bleeding golden blood.
And Desmond, knowing this being wasn’t an Isu, but also not an Angel, doens’t know what to do with the man that frees him.
Rodrigo though? Desmond doesn’t know what he is, but he knows evil when he sees it, and Desmond decides the first act of his freedom is to rid the world of an Isu adjacent monster.
===============================
Additions from teecup:
Perhaps we can even make it that Desmond had been ‘saved’ by Minerva because he had been Minerva’s slave. But it wasn’t kindness that made Minerva push for him to be imprisoned. Other than the fact that he was almost indestructible, Desmond’s genes were used for the second attempt of slaves because he was, for some reason, less violent than his ‘brethren’ (honestly, it was because Minerva was less of a dick than the rest of the Isus but he wasn’t going to say that) so the fallen angel Desmond became the ‘basis’ of humans.
So Rodrigo wasn’t exactly wrong in saying ‘God’ dwells inside the vault as one may look at Desmond’s connection to humanity as something similar to a god. Just… not the god Rodrigo assumes.
Also, Desmond’s connection to humanity would make him ‘kinder’ to them, especially to Ezio who he sees as the one who unchained him from his prison. At the same time, Ezio’s mastery of the Eagle Vision meant that he was drenched in the blood of the Isus, of the blood of those who betrayed him and his brethren so there would be some kind of conflict between them as well.
Desmond doesn’t need to see evil to not like Rodrigo. Rodrigo is the leader of an organization that says “May the Father of Understanding Guides Us” who, as far as Desmond knew, was supposed to be Yaldabaoth since Yaldabaoth was the Father of Understanding in charge of creating a slave race for the Isus (also, even if he hears that it’s Tinia, he’d be like “Tinia’s an idiot who was able to remain of high standing because his daughter was brilliant.”)
… If other fallen angels were imprisoned because they couldn’t be killed, doesn’t that mean that we can make Desmond’s main goal is to save those still alive?
Like, perhaps one of them was underneath Alamut and the other was in the Grand Temple (just to give us some kind of way to include Altaïr and Ratonhnhaké:ton XD)
