i've still been keeping tabs on what's happening at automattic. a couple of things i've observed:

toni schneider (who is a man btw), the interim ceo, has been quite open with staff in ways that mean they generally seem relieved to have him leading the company for now. i've heard people speak optimistically about him from all parts of the spectrum (by which i mean: staff who are trans tumblr users right through to staff who are "anti-woke" or whatever and were absolutely intolerable to work with as a trans person), which seems like... a good sign? maybe.

this relative transparency includes things like weekly updates from an executive level, as well as openly saying that he did have to directly speak to matt and encourage him to, you know, stop posting.

matt is back to his usual milquetoast blogging, and replied to someone on mastodon about the AI issue saying he'd comment on it when he's back in may, so whatever toni said to him seems to have worked for him keeping out of it for now.

people have no idea what it's gonna look like when matt's back.

the best case scenario is that schneider manages to create a significant enough boost in morale and productivity that "it'd be nice if we just kept him" becomes a sentiment that isn't held just by the rank and file. i don't know how likely that is, but there's a sense of cautious hope and of making the most of this reprieve from matt's increasingly erratic decisions no matter what.

the tumblr staff statement was approved by schneider and hr, so i am also hopeful they won't face repercussions. what they said might seem pretty mild from the outside, or carefully worded, but it's pretty clear to me and to most people who've worked at companies like this that it's a pretty bold one.

i'll quote a friend:

keep reminding the more histrionic elements out there that: 1. there really are trans people, INCLUDING TRANS WOMEN, in the fight here. 2. we don't have nearly the power they seem to think we do. 3. we're fighting anyway. was the statement we wrote enough? fuck no. does it fix everything? fuck no. but we literally called out the CEO, and got the greenlight for it from the interim CEO. i don't know where this will end, but that's not nothing.

i'm not sure automattic deserves the immense honor of having this many of its brave, dedicated trans staff put effort into trying to make it better. but it has them, and it would be wise to do its best to keep them. so many of us — even me, even now — believe in the ideals that drew us to the work automattic does, and hope that it can return to them. we will see!

other things i want to say:

the wellbeing of my friends on staff is my priority. i am interested primarily in their safety, and won't pressure them to give me goss. the ways i've spoken publicly are already pretty scary to people who might worry about retaliation against them just for being known to be my friend.

this is a regular personal blog. i'll keep updating if there's shit to update about, but i also don't work at automattic any more (thank fuck, again), have a life, and am not interested in declaring matt my specific nemesis or otherwise acting purely out of spite.

some of youse really deeply do not understand companies, the internet, generative ai, or pretty much anything else i've said. that's okay — big tech in particular is fucked up on purpose bc it benefits those in power to have it be incomprehensible! but maybe it's not a great position from which to get mad at me specifically or at staff for idk not personally assassinating matt.

Mc and the tooth brushing pictures:

Yeah, demons may not brush their teeth but idk man, the characters seemingly have good teeth so whateves. I didn't know what to name this so yeah. Anyways this is a cute little drabble idea I had so enjoy!

Imagine the chaos of brushing you're teeth in the morning at HoL, all the brothers besides Asmo use the same bathroom, Mc has to use that bathroom as well. So the bathroom in the morning is extremely chaotic, everyones cluttered inside the bathroom trying to get their morning routines done. It's a choatic free for all some mornings, but other mornings it can bring great memories. Mc eventually starts taking pictures with the brothers each morning when their brushing their teeth together. Some mornings its just one or two brothers in the picture, some mornings its 3-4 brothers, and some mornings Mc's alone in the picture. It becomes a tradition for Mc, they have to take a picture while brushing their teeth, and if they forget in the morning then they take it when brushing their teeth before bed.

The first time Mc takes this kind of picture is probably when they get up late one morning, when they get into the bathroom they find: Belphie, Mammon, and Levi. The three had there own reasons for getting up late, but they were still up late. The four began to brush their teeth together when they heard the screech of Lucifer yelling at them to hurry up, it was obvious he was getting impatient. Mc decides to pull out their D.D.D and snap a quick picture, so they could reminisce on how they died after Lucifer inevitably killed them for making everyone late to R.A.D. So dramatic Mc. After this rememberable moment, Mc began to take pictures similar to that one, just to have the pictures. Some brothers like Asmo and Lucifer aren't in the pictures at first. When Asmo finds out about the pictures and learns that Mc's been doing it for awhile without him, he's hurt, and he'll make sure MC knows that by being extremely dramatic over the whole ordeal. Asmo may go into the communal bathroom just to be in the picture with Mc, otherwise he'll drag Mc to his bathroom to take his own version of the picture. Lucifer isn't in the pictures at first because he's usually up and ready way before everyone else. The first time Mc gets Lucifer in one of these pictures is during one of the bedtime tooth brushing photoshoots. Mc may have to stay up late to get this picture, or they'll have to get Lucifer to brush his teeth earlier than normal. Mc most likely puts one of these pictures as their D.D.D lockscreen, how many people can say they have a picture of the demon brothers brushing their teeth? Not many because its a weird thing to brag over Mc, but Mc is still going to proudly show that picture off as their lockscreen! Seeing the picture when they get on their D.D.D makes Mc reminisce on the memory which usually makes them smile. The brothers were confused by Mc taking these type of pictures at first, but after explaining why they do it, the brothers begin to understand. Some of the brothers even begin to take pictures like that on their own, they enjoy having pictures to reminisce on as well.

Bonus!: The other characters found out and make Mc take these pictures with them when Mc stays at the Purgatory Hall or the Demon Lord's Castle. Like usual everyone eventually begins to argue over who should be one Mc's D.D.D lockscreen. Mc gets tired of their arguing and comes up with a great solution. Mc gathers everyone in front of a gaint bathroom mirror inside the Demon Lord's Castle, then they make everyone brush their teeth. Mc snaps the picture and only uses that as their D.D.D lockscreen so that nobody complains.

this is a complex question. unlearning shame of any kind can take a long time to sort out, and will be driven more by internal work you do to challenge and shift your own thinking than by anything else.

a good place to start may be by doing some reflection as to what you find shameful about being horny in the first place and working back from there to recognize sexuality and desire as morally neutral things.

for instance, I get a fair number of people asking if it's okay to think about real people that they know when they're horny, or masturbate to fantasies about those people. they feel a lot of shame about this, as if they're causing harm to these people by imagining them in sexual scenarios. but making up funny little scenarios in your head to nut to is a harmless act that only you will ever know about. it's not like whipping out your dick (gender neutral) and masturbating at strangers on public transit; what you do to get off in your private time only impacts you.

a problem would only arise if you decided to start treating your real, actual acquaintance, not the imaginary sexy version of them, differently, for instance by making untoward comments about their body, treating them as if they are obligated to be interested in spending time together or having sex with you, or, god forbid, telling them in detail about your sexual fantasies. now you're doing sexual harassment, which is inappropriate because of the hurt and discomfort is causes the recipient. being horny isn't the problem here, it's how you're treating another person.

people also feel a lot of shame around many other types of fantasies, especially if they involve dynamics that are off-limits or illegal in real life. often, the worry seems to be that being aroused by these imagined scenarios is akin to expressing support for these things to happen in real life.

listen: sexual fantasies about rape are some of the most commonly reported among cis women, and that's not because tons and tons of cis women secretly think that rape is a cool thing that should happen more. the people playing Baldur's Gate 3 and fucking Halsin while he's wildshaped into a bear aren't all chomping at the bit to commit a sex crime against a real animal. noticing that "teenage" characters on TV played by actors in their 20s and 30s are hot does not make anyone a pedophile. fiction is a safe realm to explore and enjoy things that we would never in a million years want to see happen in real life. I love Batman, but I can assure you I would not be a happy camper if a real-life billionaire started running around doing vigilantism in a fursuit while endangering a gaggle of teenage sidekicks.

and if you want to explore some of the stuff you're into in real life, awesome! great! there are ways to go about negotiating a lot of different kinks safely and responsibly (although probably not the bear thing, sorry about that). the world is full of people who want the experience of being stalked, beat up, kidnapped, and sexually assaulted - all mediated through pre-negotiated arrangements with people that they have chosen to enact these fantasies with them. so what is there to be ashamed of in that situation? sure, the situation you're engaging in might sound scary without proper context, but so do a lot of things. a stranger cutting open my skin, very likely causing bleeding, and leaving me with a mark that I'll have for the rest of my life sounds scary, and it definitely would be if it wasn't a situation that I agreed to! but that's also what getting a tattoo is, and that's an experience that I love so much that I pay for the pleasure. nothing to feel bad about there as long as you're playing safely!

listen: there's nothing wrong with being horny. the human sex drive is a completely natural one born from biological need that makes getting off feel good. there's no more sense in feeling shame about being horny than there is in feeling shame about being hungry or needing rest, although people do of course manage to feel bad about those as well. regardless of what causes it, when you feel the shame well up you have to push back on it and ask yourself who actually directly benefits from you feeling badly about yourself in that moment, and who is actually tangibly hurt by the actions you're shaming. and if the answer is "no one," move it along!

I think I have to move on.

You may have noticed that all of a sudden my posts have become less and less frequent. That's not on purpose I simply don't have the motivation to keep this ask blog going. I made this blog at the peak of my TADC hyperfixation because I knew it would give me the boost to work. At the start I made like, what? 2 a day, wowzas! Then it became like every other day posts. It's not that I don't enjoy the blog, the ship, the asks. Hell, the asks were the best part of this, I love just seeing what you guys come up with for these three and I get to do the even more fun part of drawing the answer.

But I still have no motivation to keep this going. And I have fixated on something else if you follow my main.

So, thank you for being here and still liking my posts even if I hadn't posted often. This was the most fun I've had and being my first ask blog I ever created just makes it more important to me.

I probably won't ever revive this blog but I'll keep it open for you. And if you want to see what the story I originally planned out was gonna be then check below the cut! I'm not gonna lie. Most of the stuff was just created along the way of drawing. I was like, huh this would be cool let's add that in. And ofc I didn't get to any juicy lore in this but it would've been rushed because I didn't plan beforehand... which you probably could tell xd

For Pomni, here's the plot twist: she's dead and her conscience was updated into the game to keep her somewhat alive. She worked in the place that created the game, she even took part in putting people in there. The entire game was just an expirement to test if immortality was possible, but of course.. everyone goes insane in there so they have to keep on and keep on trying with more and more people to get anywhere. They wait until someone goes to edge of absolute insanity and that's when they take them out of the game, their bodies are still kept alive and they go back to normal. They forget everything that happened while in the game. For Pomni she died just after her conscience was converted to the game, for others they were forced to go while alive. Who killed Pomni? Well, her boss, the head of the experimentation. Why? Idk 😭

For Jax, I gave him a dark story. He was isolated in his home and kept away from the outside world, which is why he lacks empathy, because he simply doesn't know how to feel that way when he never really had knowledge of emotions outside or even inside his home. His father was emotionally and physically ab4sive so.. that didn't help. He latched onto his mother the most but they never saw eachother often. That's all I had for him in mind.

For Ragatha, she lived in the country on her own land with her husband. Yup! She had a husband and a daughter too. Husband was a total jerk and she couldn't leave because she didn't want their kid to experience separated parents. She's a doll in the game because it resembles the doll she made for her daughter.

I also had some plot that I made up in my mind. Like.... Pomni at the end would be the last one alone in the digital circus. That being since she's dead she would just be yknow. Dead if she left the game. Jax and Ragatha leave but only because Pomni forces them. Again don't know how, I probably would have made it up while I went along with the story. So, Pomni is just there alone, with Caine. And she lives like that for eternity. She doesn't go insane anymore and it isn't as lonely as it used to feel like. It would feel like home kind of. But she would be there, longing for her partners forever unless she decides one day to just. Yknow, die..

Also since Jax and Ragatha would forget everything after they leave the game, they just don't remember they were in a relationship and would live their lives like before. Sad and lonely.

Goodness, I forget I make the most sad stories ever sometimes 😭

something I've been thinking about is how interesting it would be to see the goblincore/gremlincore/corvidcore type aesthetic to evolve into an actual subculture. obviously for starters we should change the name bc anything ending in -core just doesn't sit right with me? unless of course it becomes that "placeholder name turns true name" sorta deal but ANYWAY.

main three key elements I've noticed that tend to make up a subculture is: style/outfit presentation (the optional part), belief system, and music genre(s).

style and presentation: (like what you wear), that part is already obvious if you ever followed the aesthetic at any point. (it was trendy for a time I think, is it still trendy? bc idk if it is but that's not stopping me from loving it.) basically wearing majority earth colors like browns and greens, stuff like hobbit-esque cloths or sweaters and stuff. definitely LOTS of nature based themes or just wearing weird trinkets. gotta go for that "creature directly out of the chronicles of spider wick" type look you know?

with the clothes (and often interior design I've noticed, which my entire bedroom would probably fit the aesthetic actually) one thing I've noticed for most who are into the aesthetic is there is a LOT of DIY. also going out and collecting things you find (anything from mystery trinkets to dead bugs and sticks and rocks, which I grew up doing and would call myself a tinker bc I made stuff out of what I found very often).

belief system: I feel like, above all else, beliefs commonly held among people in this aesthetic is to respect and be in nature, as well as do not waste, reduce and reuse. a lot of environmentalist like stuff, as well as seeing and respecting the beauty of nature, from butterflies and flowers to dirt and corpses. I don't have a solid concrete answer for belief system, but hopefully that sums up my view on it.

music genre: folk/folk punk, fantasy DND type genres, and nature based lyrics and vibes. from my experience and digging around, there's less artists who catch the vibe of this aesthetic all around (bc that's not what they're trying to do), and moreso having a couple or handful of songs that fit so very well. unless of course it's a genre of music that is enheritly matching to this aesthetic.

anyway, I'm not great at explaining the music aspect of it, but I feel like if it's magical and yet sorta punk-like that can work. no limits here yet, I have a playlist on my youtube that definitely pushes the boarders but who cares? the thing has celtic woman and httyd score on it. I just think if this evolved into having music for the genre (idk if we could call it a music based genre since it didn't start that way but I mean overall having a genre of music dedicated to this aesthetic-turned-subculture) it would be really interesting to hear what comes of it.

circling back for a minute, I feel like punk comes hand-and-hand with a couple of things here, but specifically mainly eco-punk. like diy, reduce and reuse, etc. as well as the music, while not deeply punk still feels like it would have a punk undercurrent.

I also think this could parallel well with goth, with the dark romantic sorta stuff. the music and belief system having love and adoration for the strangest and darkest aspects of nature, similar to goths seeing beauty in the darkness and creepiness of the world.

if anyone actually read this I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on my little rant (suggestions for bands/musicians and similar subcultures/subculture parallels are very encouraged) bc I grew up doing pretty much everything within this aesthetic long before I knew it was a thing or maybe even before it was a thing. that isn't meant to be gate keepy. I mean that when I found out just how many other people liked and did the same things as me, it was just so cool. so I just really wanna talk to people about this and I think something like this aesthetic could easily become a subculture one day.

Idk if someone else has already asked this, but what about a Birdtale au? Like Sans, Red, and Skull are either wild birds or live in an aviary or something like that. They would probably try to preen Mc and sing her courting songs

I did a harpy au ages ago but the recent fanart by @iridescent-serpent has made my 'i love birds' brain go AWOOGA. We're doing it again, folks; zoo edition this time.

Big, clawed, dangerous and scary bird monsters living in a big aviary since they have a habit of hunting down people.

Sans: A beautiful owl harpy with steely grey, blue and black markings that help him blend into blue-toned darkness. Since he's mostly nocturnal, he has two modes: day mode, and night mode.

In day mode spends pretty much every hour napping in his aviary, enjoying whatever patches of sun he finds; he's very cat-like, and he's worked up a reputation of being lazy thanks to his constant napping. Staff can actually go in and out of his enclosure if they're quiet, which is a big deal for a species as aggressive as a harpy. It's important they keep their distance from him to avoid disturbing him, though... he's tired, but he can still lash out with deadly precision. At night, he really acts like a cat. He's hunting, he's active and terrifying, he attacks with the intent to kill. You hear nothing, you see nothing, not even his eyelights. He blends in so seamlessly with the night that nobody dares go near his enclosure, there's few things as dangerous as an owl harpy at night.

... However, Mc is the exception. Like always. When she's around in the day, he'll sleep through pretty much everything she does. She isn't food or a threat, so why get up? He'll sleep even if she goes right up to him and grabs his wings- which she sometimes has to do, when she's looking him over for injuries or signs of illness. She does all of his medical checkups, and he seems to like the touching, if his purring is anything to go by. And at night, he just uses his incredible silence and camouflage to get up close and steal her keys. He has an eye for shiny things, and a taste for her flustered attention when she looks for him to get her shiny things back.

Red: Red is a big, stunning bird of prey harpy. Something resembling a hawk or eagle; and he's got the hawk foul temper, with a habit of biting and slashing at anyone who encroaches on his territory (enclosure). But a running joke at the aviary, in the same vein as that guy who's 'married' to a crane, is that Red is Mc's husband.

Red is an aggressive harpy who likes to hunt and fight. But he's also a showoff, and apparently, a complete romantic- he's made it clear that he's decided Mc is his mate. He lets her into his enclosure, and he shows all the courtship behaviours under the sun... he displays and shakes his wings, brings her gifts, puffs his feathers up, preens her hair, nuzzles her face like they're knocking beaks. He even sings, and tries to initiate dances.

For Mc, it's a balancing act of what behaviours she does and doesn't reciprocate. She doesn't want to give him ideas, but he gets really cranky (and won't eat) if she totally ignores him. She's learned she can ignore his attempts at dances or nuzzles without him being too bothered- but she absolutely has to accept his gifts, and let him preen.

Harpies, especially hawk harpies, have one mate for life. As much as the other staff tease her for being Red's one true love, nobody can deny that his affections make everyone's lives at the aviary much easier.

Skull: A massive beast of a bird, with a wingspan tens of feet wide, he resembles one of those massive alpine vultures- thick snow-resistant plumage that's very soft to the touch. He once lived a solitary life high in the mountains, so he isn't great with people or other birds, but he has to stay at the aviary because the same incident that caused his head injury also gave him a large scar down the back of one wing that leaves him unable to fly for any longer than a few seconds.

Despite his penchant for gutting people with those giant claws of his, he's very soft and docile with Mc. He's also a highly curious beast- he follows her around his enclosure like a puppy, observing whatever she's doing... he also likes observing her, his face often only a few inches from hers as she works, always letting out a thrumming coo of delight at her presence. He's very soft, and since he used to live in a brutally cold environment he instinctively dislikes the sight of her being cold and is always trying to pull her into his arms to keep her warm.

His only issue is his 'sulking'. When he gets upset that she's leaving, or he thinks someone else is getting too close to the two of them, he likes to pick Mc up and fly/climb to the highest perch point in his enclosure. His wing might be injured but he can still flap, and his time in the mountains made him an adept climber. He'll sulk as high up as he can, squishing her close until he can be food-bribed into letting her go.

Gwen's Spider-sense always on Miles?

Okay, so a few days ago I had an ask about my opinion on Gwen spider sense activating when Miles got in danger, and I accidentally ended up deleting the entire thing.

@ficsinhistory Sorry about that.

However this may had been for the best, because I went from not having much of an answer to what the fuck all of this means.

So, let's go with the basics.

We see Gwen's spider-sense before, when she was looking for Miles on his room while he was in Earth-42.

Now, this is something I had interpreted as she trying to use her spider-sense to see if she could sense Miles; a bit odd, but in the first movie the spiders literally sensed each other, sometimes even before realizing they were there.

(Alternatively, this may be them searching for them; tho considering Miles got bit recently on this movie and still was doing it, I am going more with they just sense the others at that moment.)

She came to the conclusion that Miles wasn't in this dimension by not sensing him here, which in theory could be him getting caught on something else but I mean she isn't wrong.

Here is the part where I actually ran out of answer.

(Side note, how HARD can Prowler Miles hit?! We had seen Miles got thrown into a billboard and get up fine, I know he is probably tired after everything but still.)

It really is that quickly, Miles is down and Gwen is immediately sensing something.

And here...I have nothing.

I wish I could have more thoughts about this, but honestly my mind had just been going on circles with this scene, and all I am thinking is how?

Look, I wish I could have a more to say about this, but honestly all I can think of is that I need an explanation as to how this is happening because the math isn't mathing for me.

However, I also saw the first movie recently, and something that brought my attention was a plot point in the last movie that ALSO drove me up the wall because I couldn't get how or why.

Gwen, unlike the other Spiders apparently, was blown a week before the incident with the Collider, and her Spider-sense told her to go to Visions Academy.

This always bothered me because I truly couldn't imagine how exactly this worked.

Spider-sense is primarily, suppose to work as a way for the spider to sense danger. In this movie, it also servers the purpose of communicating to the other spiders when they are around another who is one of them

Neither of those things is suppose to give you any directions, and more importantly, her spider-sense activated before Miles was even bitten.

Now, I thought that was perhaps because she was blown into last week, meaning she came through the portal when Miles already has been bit. So I try to think that maybe she could sense it because her spider-sense recognized the spider that was on the Collider?

It always felt like a flimsy excuse but I had nothing so oh well. I thought it was just a convenient plot point to get Gwen there and leave it like that.

Now? This has to be connected.

I am not sure how, why, or if it can work the other way around (Miles maybe sensing Gwen is in danger? Or have a better idea when she is around? Idk.) But I don't think it is a coincidence that Gwen had her spider-sense going to Miles before he was bitten, and now she can known when he is in danger in another dimension.

(Honestly this is all great material for a soulmate fic so anyone feel free to get on that.)

a/n : I have school in like 2 and a half hours and I'm freaking out(it's 3:35am as I'm writing this) AAA agh omg omg anyways enjoy this before I try to go back to sleep ♡♡

So general headcanon before how I think the sleepover would go :

I really think the whole thing would be planned out by Finney and Bruce.

Bruce (over the phone) : dude dude dude

Finney : yea yea yea ??

Bruce : we should have a sleepover

Finney : uhm yea sure

Finney was so caught off guard but he agreed because he had never been to a sleepover. Ofcourse this doesn't mean he's sure he's even able to go, he'd have to ask his dad (which would take a bit of convincing)

besides that, I think he'd be able to go. Bruce would ask him to ask anyone he knew if they wanted to go. Finney was kinda scared of what kind of a sleepover Bruce was trying to plan because he's never slept under the same roof with more than 2 other people.

He did ask Robin if he wanted to go, which Robin then invited Vance. Robin would also probably have to convince his uncle a little, like give him reasons as to why he should go and have like a full on presentation. His uncle let him go because the presentation was funny

Vance got the okay from his mom and he told Robin and Finney about it. They went silent after he told them that he didn't have to convince his parents

Vance : You d-ckwads still there??? If not I'm gonna hang up

Finney didn't know what he should've brought so he just grabbed whatever snacks he could from his pantry and ran out the house

Finney got an angry call from his dad that night

I feel like the sleeping situation would be downstairs in his living room, and Vance would just tell everyone to choose their "forever" spots

Robin and Finney would partner up and you would end up between Vance and Bruce. And that'd leave Billy sleeping on the end of the couch(ofcourse still next to everyone)

you guys would play some video games before the pizza came and Vance's mom would walk out with some more snacks and God was it the worse thing

Bruce and you were complimenting her on her cooking, her hair, her everything. She'd smile and tell Vance how nice his friends were

Robin would share his own but what'd make his so scary is that they're old folktales that his uncle told him as a child so he'd sleep or just not do stupid things in general.

Lets just say Finney didn't get much sleep that night

I feel like Finney and Bruce just absolutely can't handle horror/thriller stuff like he flinch too hard or can't look away so when they're too freaked out someone has to quite literally turn their heads for them

Billy would be in the middle of horror/thriller, he feels like there's only so many GOOD thrillers that he doesn't really get scared easily

Vance just doesn't like them in general, he won't flinch when jumpscares come up nor will he ever look at the TV when he knows somethings up. It makes everyone very confused

Robin would just stare at the TV with so much admiration and just so amazed when they show a good scare

Everyone else (looking away)

Robin : Guys guys did you see that??? That was pretty awesome wasn't it???

Its like the TV and his eyes are just stuck to eachother

I feel like Bruce and Finney would be used to falling asleep relatively early so they'd be the first to pass out at 9pm

Robin could stay up longer but would be exhausted from the amount of energy he had when he first got there

Vance would probably stay up a little longer and clean up with Billy so his mom wouldn't have to clean up that big of a mess when it's over

And lastly I feel like Billy would be the last and first one up in sleepovers, it's so awkward that whenever that happens he just leaves the house for a bit to give out newspapers and usually gets back before everyone is fully up

Bruce : where'd you go???

Billy : Narnia

Vance : what the f-

Anyways, you fall asleep early with Finney and Bruce just expect to be crushed by the morning because they will turn over and end up with their foot up your nose

If you fall asleep pretty late with Robin or Vance just expect to be pushed to the end of the couch or freezing in the morning because they'll probably also be sprawled out like a starfish

And if you pull an all nighter with Billy expect a whole late knight conversation with him. I feel like he'd talk about anything and everything, whether it'd be dumb school drama or some really philosophical things you'd think about when h-gh

Or at least, he would have thought that had he not been having lunch with the rest of the Toman leaders that day.

He might have tried to sound intimidating as Mikey picked at the octopus-shaped sausages you had made for him, but there was no mistaking the pink flush dusting his cheeks.

The others chose to keep the teasing to a minimum because they think of you like a sibling, but they do think it's absolutely adorable that you pack him bentos like that.

Mikey will probably pretend to be annoyed the next time he sees you, but with the way he clings to you and whines about it, it's clear that he was just flustered by how cute the bento was.

This kind of backfires for you though because now he always wants his rice shaped like little rabbits and his sausages like octopus.

Even throws a fuss if you so as consider giving him a normal bento after then.

Hanma Shuji

Is lowkey confused at first.

He still thinks it's super cute but he just can't really understand why you would think it was a good idea to give him one of those cute bentos.

Unlike Mikey he isn't actually embarrassed by it or anything. He thinks it's adorable and even shows it off to the others.

If anyone dares to try and make fun of him he just tells them they're jealous their partner doesn't do the same for them. This is usually followed by a threat to beat them up.

Overall, he's pretty neutral about it.

But expect to be teased A LOT when he meets up with you after that.

Hanma will literally not stop going on about how he thinks it's so adorable that you put in so much effort for his bento.

"You probably just wanted me to praise you for being good at it didn't you?" He only stops when you pretend to be offended and say you won't make him bentos again. It's only then that Hanma tugs you to him by your waist and genuinely thanks you for the food.

You're a little struck by how sincere he is in that moment, especially when he mentions he's not used to other people taking care of him like this.

But your cute little moment quickly turns back into another teasing fest as he pesters you about what you want to make for him next and calls you his cute little housewife/husband.

Ken Ryuguji (Draken)

Pretends to be indifferent, is dying inside.

He thinks it's absolutely adorable that you would bother doing something like this for him, especially since he never really got bentos as a kid.

But he also has a mean and scary reputation to uphold which is why he can't help but turn a little red when seated with the rest of Toman eating Tamagoyaki with little faces on them.

Baji and Mitsuya are the only ones who dare to tease him while Mikey casually steals a bit of his bento just because it looks cute.

He even complains about how Draken got such a cute bento and says he'll ask you to cook him cute things too.

Ken doesn't even realise he's lowkey glaring at the thought of you doing something so sweet for someone else until the rest of the boys start laughing.

When he meets up with you later he doesn't really say anything and just casually thanks you for the bento.

Or he would have done that had Mikey not been with him.

The shorter blond took great pleasure, droning on and on about how Draken was totally blushing while eating the bento and threatened to kill him when he said he wanted you to make him one.

You know Mikey well enough to be able to tell he's just joking around but that doesn't stop Draken from casually trying to trip him.

Once Mikey leaves the two of you alone (after a lot of complaining and teasing) Ken takes a moment to genuinely thank you for the bento.

He's also pretty intrigued about how you made it and asks you about the stencils you used etc.

Ken even considers making you a cute bento in return someday, after all, he's a decent cook since he always had to cook for himself and he'd love to return your kind gesture.

Gareth Emerson Headcanons No One Asked For

So these are just my headcanons, that could totally be out of character, but idk. I wish we had more content with him

yeah idk why y'all read this

i was originally going to just post this and have some tags with my reasonings, but i realized that opens me up to too much bullshit from people who may think i'm being unnecessarily mean or whatever. so i'm going to explain exactly why the screenshots above are something i hold issue with.

firstly, and i just want to get this out of the way, this post is not intended to be a hit piece against the creator. i've seen how she reacts to any mild-mannered or slightly joking criticism, so i know this post is probably going to not land well. but it isn't my intention to make her mad or anything--she's writing a piece of content for the internet, which means she is just as open to criticism as any other poster. and what i intend to go into in this post is criticism. i'm allowed to do this, as that is the nature of the internet. people are allowed to critique whatever they please, and if you don't want critique then you shouldn't post. simple as!

i am also making no attempts to posit myself as better than the creator. i'm not doing this for clout or moral superiority or any of that dumb shit. i simply want to discuss something that's been bothering me for a bit, while simultaneously warning people who haven't read this yet (who may be sensitive to the issues above) to steer clear. if things like casual racism or transphobia aren't properly tagged, then readers who are affected by such things run a risk reading this! same goes with people who are triggered by lewd content involving minors. i wanna make sure people are getting a more critical scope of this work than what has been hoisted up by others.

okay, now that i've gotten that out of the way, i'm going to get into my points.

firstly, the subtle and not-so-subtle racism throughout this fic, especially in relation to serizawa. i'm white, so there is only so much i can speak on without trampling over the words of other fans of color, but some of this feels so blatant it's odd it hasn't been noted earlier. it's important to note before i go into it that serizawa is specifically written as half-black half-japanese for this fic, in case the screenshots don't make it abundantly clear. but there are just too many moments of casual racism in this fic. i'm not talking about the plot point of serizawa being bullied as a kid for being mixed; i'm not mixed, so i can't speak on the accuracy there but it is well-known that black people face a lot of racism in japan. i'm talking about how it seems everyone else has these racist moments that aren't acknowledged by serizawa or the narration as being bad.

reigen hypothesizing over serizawa's exact ethnic background is just strange. yes he's a fairly observant guy (he has to be, with his job), but there is no canonical evidence to suggest he would immediately jump to theorizing whether serizawa is american or not. and the way it's posed in that first quote--"he has darker skin and the kind of hair texture that would likely indicate African ancestry"--is not great. that's an extremely inappropriate way to bring up someone's race. i don't think most people would stare at someone and be like "hmmm well your nose shape and hair texture would suggest you're of this race". it's racial essentialization that is only slightly covered up by the excuse of "oh he tweets in english". there are some other smaller moments of questionable wording, like calling serizawa's afro "sloppy" when it isnt (which btw there's another issue with the creator only referring to an afro as a "fro". it's a hairstyle; you're allowed to use the actual name of it). even if reigen cuts his hair in canon, he never states it's because serizawa's afro looks sloppy. (also there's something to be said about the casual racism baked into making your employee cut his natural hairstyle for a job, as that is a very real issue many black people face when wearing their natural hair or even protective styles in the workplace.)

i'm especially bothered by toichiro's very casual racist remarks. toichiro in this fic is a general bother of mine (most of which can be boiled down to "he would not fucking say that"), but the way she chooses to characterize him in relation to serizawa feels gross. calling a black man a slave should be a very obvious red flag, but also saying serizawa (again, as a black man) has a "brutal masculine appeal" is also extremely stereotypical and racist. and really there is just no need for it; toichiro's actions in canon prove how shitty of a guy he is without the need for him to be racist (along with other things i'll get to in a bit). as my girlfriend put it: he doesn't need to be a member of the fucking kkk to show he's a bad guy.

there's also, again, the very casual racist remark of calling serizawa a "dog". i don't care if that isn't the intent; when you are writing a character of color you need to be aware of your wording, even in insults (unless she intended to make tsuchiya racist, which i don't think she did).

secondly, the eugenics/child pregnancy bit. it is surreal to even have to write this, but i seriously do not understand the purpose of either of these bits in the story. they are so minor yet so jarring you can't help but wonder why they're there. once again, i do not think you need to have toichiro doing esper eugenics just to prove he is an evil guy. he has nuance, and by making him casually reference child pregnancy (like that isn't an INSANE thing to say) reduces that nuance to nothing. that's the only reason i could see why that bit was included: to make toichiro look worse. but, even still, the author is running the risk of potentially triggering victims of csa or people who don't want to see that by not properly tagging the mention of it (or, at the very least, warning readers in the intro notes). the only other explanation for it would maybe be shock factor??? but that's a pretty shitty thing to use for shock factor, if i'm honest. also the fact that the esper eugenics was referenced again in a more recent chapter just has me very disturbed and confused. there isn't a canonical explanation for why we see less espers who are women than espers who are men, but that doesn't mean we need to jump to fucking Eugenics. it's weird!

thirdly (and this is probably one of my biggest problems and the main reason i wanted to make this post), the weirdly lewd/sexual language shou uses constantly, along with referring to reigen as a pedo or a creep at several points. frankly, i think it's pretty fucking gross for someone in their near-40's to be writing a 12-year-old talking so casually about sex like that's normal. which, i'm sorry, but it's not. yes, teens know about sex and like to joke about lewd shit. but a 12-year-old is not about to make references to a grown man's virginity. 12-year-olds draw dicks on their desk bc they think it's funny. 12-year-olds say the word "buttfuck" because it has the words "butt" and "fuck" in it, and those are the two funniest words on earth to a kid that age. i literally do not understand the purpose of having shou be so lewd all the time. for one, it doesn't make sense for his character. shou is shown time and time again to be extremely mature for his age, but that maturity extends to shit like assembling a counter-terrorism unit and extending a hand to his father to allow him to try again. and even then he's still just as naive as any other kid his age! the omake where he's telling his guys to go to the "far right corner" based on ritsu’s advice proves that he still has plenty of blindspots that are indicative of his age. leaning into this raunchy, lewd version of shou is just weird. and, again, i think it is made a bit weirder given the author's age!!! not ageshaming or whatever--i'm 23 and i write fanfic, clearly i cannot judge there--but it is just extremely inappropriate in my opinion. also having shou be more versed in sextalk than serizawa is odd too and speaks to a larger issue of serizawa's infantilzation throughout this fic, but that's something i can get into in another post if people want an explanation.

also, the way she constantly calls reigen a creep and even has him being accused of being a pedophile during the twitter cancellation is extremely inappropriate when, again, there is NO CANONICAL BASIS FOR THIS! everyone just calls him a fraud and a scammer during separation arc; there is never a reference to reigen being seen as a pedophile in that arc. and, yes, while there are versions of mob psycho where reigen is very clearly written as a creep (looking very specifically at the netflix adaptation), that doesn't mean it's good. honestly, the creep mentions all just feel like really poor jokes that do not land in the slightest.

finally, the transphobia (aka WHY IS SHIMAZAKI A CHASER). i literally do not know what else to say other than: why? why is this a thing? why is he a chaser? what is the purpose of this? is it a joke? i feel like it's supposed to be, but seeing as the author is cis i don't think that's a joke she should really be making. it not only comes out of left field, but it's just kind of a weird thing to ascribe to a character for no reason. not to mention, it's uncomfortable! trans women deal with enough creepy antics from cis men in real life--why must they be accosted by this guy too? it's just weird and uncomfortable.

i wanna round out this post by saying, once again, that i'm not trying to attack anyone with this post. but i do hope people come away from this with a new perspective on this work, and maybe think twice before recommending it uncritically to someone. to the author specifically, i hope you can read my post without rage or indignance blinding you. i might be a little blunt or rude in parts, but it's only because i'm passionate and i don't mince my words when it comes to things i'm passionate about. to the readers, understand i am not judging you for reading this fic without noticing these things. your own life experiences will give you certain blindspots and there's nothing wrong with that. i have plenty of blindspots of my own! it's what makes us human.

a very long messy review of link click (season 2)

alright so reading through a bunch of (mostly negative) reviews of the season thus far i've come to my own conclusions over how this season felt, and i really feel like addressing them since i personally feel like it deserves recognition (and rightful criticism) within certain aspects. really interested in everyone's takes so lmk whatever you think about all these aspects i'm about to gloss over.

NOTE ; i'm not going to be talking about the art direction or OSTs . i believe those have been nothing short of phenomenal and i feel like we can all universally agree over that

1) tonal shift : from a more emotionally driven s1, coupled with sprinkles of slice of life moments, we turn to a mostly thriller/mystery plot line. personally, i've always seen this coming. the tonal shift really didn't take me by surprise. with the lg stabbing at the end of season 1 it almost seemed inevitable that the more light hearted aspects of the first season weren't going to happen. more importantly, it was very clear that there was always a higher presence to fight. link click was always meant to be a thriller, this was always the plan, and so i suppose logically i assumed the second season would follow that path. i understand how people might've felt disappointed, or 'robbed', but i don't think the shift was all that shocking quite honestly, it was always set up. link click was never light hearted, even at s1.

the more shocking shift has to be the shift from an emotional, to suspenseful change in writing. the emotional writing in link click has always been the best part of the show and that hasn't changed, the emotionally driven plot lines of s2 (chen bin, ltc/ltx) have been written very well. the suspenseful writing also works. replaces the tear jerkers with an unsettling anxiety, and it's executed relatively well. you can clearly tell that the crew's been experimenting quite a lot with this season, and yes, that's usually what season 2 is for.

2) pacing : now i totally get the criticism in this aspect. in my opinion, the weakest part of s2's been the pacing. with overly drawn out fight scenes, and unnecessarily long recaps, i think the issue has to do with the fact that lc just has a LOT to address, and so it makes us feel less inclined to sit through longer scenes that don't directly advance the plot.

obviously i get that the fight scenes show off a lot of the animation budget #tm and they do look great but the fact that we had way too much time dedicated to a five minute long fighting cutscene in the FIRST episode just made me feel impatient.

3) red herring endings: alright this might be an unorthodox opinion but, aren't red herring cliff hangers a norm in general with these kinds of shows lol. idk i've come to expect the total opposite every time so it doesn't really bother me i guess i'm just used to the medium. not really a lc problem it's a story telling problem in general but that's just marketing i don't know what else to say.

it'd be nice if they followed through but some part of me thinks they're pulling a whole boy who cried wolf situation, eventually they'll pull the trigger when we don't really expect it.

4) shipping/ main trio reconciliations : it's a really serious ongoing situation. i kind of get why the main trio/shiguang don't get a chance to talk things over amongst themselves, it just isn't the time. keep in mind everything that's happening rn is happening continuously, there are no gaps within the days or anything, kind of makes sense that they don't really talk about it. they probably will get to once it's all over, which might be well into s3. again, this was always meant to be a thriller more than it was trio focused. also idk about you guys but i think we actually did get a lot of sweet moments within the trio, cxs and lg, even the sibling dynamic with ql and cxs were really lovely this season.

5) the women: okay i REALLY don't understand the problem here. the women are written well. ql is written FANTASTICALLY and all side characters like ltx and that one red eyed lady i'm forgetting the name of were great too. hell even chen bin's wife was great. i think for a donghua/anime where women are usually given dirt in terms of actually strong writing, lc has always been very solid. their lives do not revolve around the men in the show it just happens to be that men are a part of their lives. they have very distinct personalities and aren't treated like weird objects to gaze at (what a bar lol) but yes i do think the women are written quite dimensionally.

6) unanswered questions : when have linear shows ever answered questions (especially mc based) in season 2?? when has season 2 EVER tied loose ends? when it comes to linear television, season 2's purpose almost always build towards a greater evil/climax. there's a reason why season 2 hasn't answered questions we've had, season 2s in most shows rarely ever do. from what i can tell, with a confirmed s3, i've always expected s2 to simply do its job as a second season and further raise stakes and raise even more questions. i do get the frustration, i get the lack of any backstory, but i want to refrain from making any actual comments over that till every episode's aired ahah, however, im not too mad at it. i just think this show's ride is currently still at an increasing accelerated pace (guys i'm sorry i study physics), things will only be explained once we've once hit the climactic point or go downhill right after. time will tell i guess

Conclusion

overall, i think this season was actually pretty solid. s1 set a very unrealistically high bar, as s1 in my opinion is one of the best seasons in television period. but s2 and s1 shouldn't be compared in the same way, their tone is quite different, and needs to be analysed individually instead. i'll make a complete review once the season is over, but honestly i've come to enjoy the season most when i stop expecting too much out of it. i think people had way too many things they've expected from s2, that were bound to simply never happen.

that said, i do hope the crew takes the valid criticism regarding the pacing (and ig the character focus?) into consideration and implements it well into s3. it's worth noting that i believe nothing was meant to be complete with s2 in the first place.

i've really enjoyed this season, and i'm beyond ecstatic to rewatch it all once it's done airing, in order to properly take it all in. it's had its flaws, more than s1 has had (let's be real s1 had little to none). but that's bound to happen to shows when they head down their linear routes. currently sitting at a 7/10

Which Link is most likely to go for a trans surgery?

Hmmm. Well: all of them are SOME flavour of trans and/or genderqueer (I don't make the rules, except when I do, and yep: thems the rules), but I don't think many of them would actually have surgery, per se. For several reasons, which all basically boil down to this: Hyrule is a better place than the real world, and they can do cool stuff we can't do here. Behold as I infodump all over your question.

First off, my opinion is that there's less social and legal pressure within most of the game settings to conform to particular gender presentations. Which is obviously far from the sole reason why surgery would happen in the real world, but it does mean that you can decide 100% for your OWN sake, not for anyone else's. Note: Western transphobia developed under specific conditions which we don't have to transpose into fictional worlds. We can just do what we want. It's great.

Second, and this one is pretty clearly demonstrated in game lore, mechanics and dialogue: kids in Hyrule, Skyloft and the Great Ocean are treated really well compared to the real world, in that they have 1) the ability to make personal decisions WITHOUT parent consent, and 2) direct access to libraries, doctors, clothes shops, potion shops and etc. Sure, money is a factor here, but the Links at least tend to have spare cash and/or the ability to earn it. Plus, potions at least are not that expensive, nor is that one medical bill from the Oracles games from memory? Idk. If you have 50 rupees every now and then, you're probably set. So if there's a particular surgery a trans person might have in the real world as a direct result of not being able to make their own choices during puberty... that doesn't have to apply in a fictional world. Unless they either didn't know or didn't have access at the time.

Related to the above: most of the games have some form of magic and often also some form of science. I think surgery would be a last resort, used either where magic isn't available or where the magic that IS available doesn't do enough. So probably only for major changes and/or in low magic settings.

As for who, then, based on the above:

TP!Link does come from a low magic world where one of two doctors is a raging racist, and that could limit his access to HRT equivalents. The fact that he comes from a small village could also impact his access to information about being trans, though his house IS full of books and his adopted dad and childhood friend's dad ARE connected with a bunch of people across Hyrule, including the one non-racist doctor. If I didn't HC him as being intersex and totally fine with his body, he'd be my pick.

Since I do: Hyrule (ZeldaI&II!Link).

I HC him as transmasc, but I think he was probably late to put actual words to that, given he's been travelling alone since a young age. Potionsellers do exist within his world, but they're a) rare, an b) expensive. My boy is POOR. But luckily, the town healers and magicians both offer their services for free! YAY! He can get all the surgery and magical HRT he wants :) just so long as he's both cool with having a little blood spilled and able to stick around in a town long enough to recover. Which he uhh... CAN do... right?

In this, they're office workers and Alejandro is their boss. There isn't smut in this, but it's implied at the end.

“What?” You looked up from where you had just been staring at the table. You weren’t sure how long you had been looking, but when you looked up, Rodolfo had a big grin on his face. 

“More drinks?” Alejandro asked, or you guessed, just repeated. 

“No,” a slow smile spread across your face, “I think I’m good for now,” you had found a good point at which everything felt good. Well, not everything felt good, because when Alejandro stepped away from your table and headed to the bar, your smile fell.

“What?” Rudy asked, looking you up and down. 

“Why did you invite him?” You hissed. 

He held his hands up in defense, “he said he was buying. Besides,” he glanced over to the bar, “he’s a good guy.”

As much as you didn’t want to admit it, he wasn’t that bad. Especially as far as bosses go. Really, the night could have been way worse, had he been awkward while he watched the two of you drink while he slowly sipped on his. The alcohol, you had come to learn, only loosed Alejandro up and made him add more to the conversation. 

Throughout the night, he had even managed to pull a few laughs out of you. All of which made a smug smile stretch across Rudy’s lips. An expression that you tried your best to ignore. 

“Yeah, I guess,” you grumbled out. When yet another one of those smiles settled on his face, you pushed away from the table and stumbled off to the bathroom. You thought you could hear a shout that vaguely sounded like your name, but you ignored it, and kept walking. 

“Having fun?” Alejandro asked when you stepped up to the mirror after finishing up at the urinal. 

You stood there in confusion, looking back and forth from the door to where you just had stood. Maybe you had drank more than you thought. 

“Surprisingly, I am,” you said, switching on the water and then lathering up your hands. You physically cringed when you stuck your hands under the water. You weren’t sure if it was from how hot the water was, or because of how the words sounded when you heard them. 

Before you could apologize, Alejandro smiled and grabbed some paper towels to dry off his hands, “I get it, grabbing drinks with your boss can be awkward, especially when he invited himself out.” Again, he did something else to make you happy that he came, this time by grabbing some paper towels and handing them to you. 

He hadn’t been your boss for very long, and when he moved his way into that position, based on first impressions, you thought he was kind of an asshole. You quickly learned that he was more so a no-nonsense boss, which you had come to respect. 

“Wow, such a gentleman,” you smiled softly. 

He almost looked embarrassed by your words, but a small smile appeared on his lips. You could hear him say something under his breath, but the music from the bar was seeping into the bathroom and made it hard to hear. 

To further prove your words, he opened the bathroom door for you, “thanks again,” you said, sending another small smile his way. 

Alejandro walked close behind you as you both walked back to the table, and nearly bumped into you when you had to stop. His warm hand settled on the small of your back to steady you, “what a dick,” he said loud enough for you to hear. 

“Yeah,” you murmured, and watched on as another patron tripped his way up to the bar. 

When you got back to the table, Rudy was shaking his head, “you can’t even go to the bathroom on your own,” he said, because of course he had seen the whole thing. 

“I got lost at the office one time.” You said, sounding annoyed. 

“Seriously?” Alejandro asked. When you didn’t answer, a laugh burst from his chest.

Almost by reflex, your middle finger nearly went up at him, but you held back. You did, however, take that energy out on Rudy. You waited until the right moment when Alejandro finished his first beer and went to the bar for a second. 

“You’re lucky this alcohol has mellowed me out,” he said after you kicked his shin softly. 

“Or what?” You questioned. 

“I’d bend you over this table for assaulting me.”

You have him a bored look, “It was barely a tap, besides, what’s stopping you?”

“I wouldn’t want our boss to see how easy it is to make you hard.”

You hated the warm feeling that shot through you at his words, but you responded quickly, not wanting to let him catch on. “The alleyway beside the bar looked pretty empty when we came in,” you pointed in the direction of the door. 

You weren't dating per se, but ever since you started working at the office, you and Rudy had spent a lot of time outside of work... getting to know each other.

Ever since that first time after work, you would normally find yourself making out with Rudy almost every Friday night. And it was no different tonight.

You both sat at the table for a few moments, staring at each other like two drunk idiots with dumb smiles on your face. 

You couldn’t read his mind, but you definitely know you didn’t pay Alejandro any mind as you quickly exited the bar and made your way into the dark alleyway. After all, it was hard to focus on Alejandro when Rudy pushed your back into the wall and pressed his lips to yours in an aggressive kiss. 

Though the kiss was aggressive and stole your breath away, he made sure no harm came to your head. He used one of his hands to cup the back of your head, while the other was placed on your back so he could pull you closer. 

As his tongue made its way into your mouth, his hand went lower to pull your shirt out of your pants. When he did, you couldn’t help but end the kiss and let out a laugh. When you were using the bathroom earlier, you must have tucked your shirt back in, as if on instinct. 

Rudy let out one of his own and pressed his forehead to yours. You stayed close to each other, breathing in each other’s breaths. In being so wrapped up in one another, you failed to notice the steps coming down the alleyway. 

You jumped away from each other when a throat cleared near you, “hey,” Alejandro said awkwardly, “I’m going to head home.”

“Oh,” you said, his words sobering you up. You glanced over at Rudy, but he just stood there looking embarrassed. 

“Unless,” he paused, “you both wanted to come back to my place and continue this? Hopefully with me involved, not that it wasn’t hot watching the two of you kiss,” Alejandro said, looking between the two of you. 

Images flashed through your mind, ones that made a heat settle deep within your stomach. You probably looked a little silly, standing there nodding your head with your mouth slightly hung open, but by the smile Alejandro gave you, he didn’t mind. 

After you stopped nodding, you looked over at Rudy, waiting to see his answer. Instead of giving one of his own, he ran off down the alley, “I call shotgun!” He yelled behind him.

oh babe what you'll start noticing more and more about Lando is that he's a little limpet. he's absolutely got his own personality and a stubborn streak that's all his own but he relaxes so much more when he can latch onto someone or a group of people. I think that's where Quadrant came from? it's a great business idea yes but it's also a handy way for him to keep that group of friends cohesive since they're all individually so busy and could easily lose touch. I've gone on and on about how much Lando needs friendships and reliable people in his life. a whole village really did raise Little Lando Norris. he's been wonderfully open about his own mental health and needing a strong reliable support system around him too.

I'm not sure if you know yet but Lando was always extremely small for his age and he's still pretty teeny (which tbh he kind of likes). he was so tiny and light that in karting ? I think it was karting where they had to literally velcro him into the seat because his whole body would fly out on the corners. this made all the adults and bigger kids treat him more like someone half his actual age and that included things like picking him up off the ground or holding and cuddling him protectively in a way that most boys his age wouldn't allow. I am a major carlando shipper but the actually sweeter reality is that Carlos (who's five years older than Lando) treated Lando like a little kid brother probably up until like last year?? honestly the entire grid does that with Lando when they get the chance. just this season we had Natalie Pinkham and Martin Brundle super concerned about him being too hard on himself and trying to get him to smile and chin up. like I say he can absolutely get stubborn and angry but there's definitely a softness to him that most guys lose by the time they're in their teens and twenties. it gets tricky sometimes bc fans occasionally forget that they don't personally know him and can cross boundaries easily.

and I think it's less that he needs the skinship with everyone and more that he associates hugs and cuddling and touch so closely with how people feel about him since nobody else holds back from it. Oscar's the only person who default respects Lando's space and won't push for more contact until he knows Lando better. it's true that Oscar isn't a big PDA guy even with his own long term gf but from his F2 and F3 videos we know he's totally comfortable with normal amounts of physicality when other people initiate it or the situation calls for it. his gf Lily always gives him big hugs after the races she attends and he looks so happy but I don't think they ever really kiss in public? it's just his/their way!

so I feel like Lando and Oscar are caught a little bit in a stand-off where Oscar doesn't presume he can just enter Lando's space whenever and Lando feels like maybe Oscar doesn't want to?? idk it's part of the like toothache sweetness of how they're figuring each other out. I feel like there's going to be a moment when Lando just like goes for it into Oscar's space one day and is like oh hey he didn't pull away!
