[The Forgotten Land Roleswap: Chapter Two, 36]

Author's Note: I am operating under a theory that Waddle Dees find their own names when they learn what skill they want to specialize in or adopt a special trait that distinguishes them from other Dees. From then on, they are referred to by a nickname derived from their found name. They often end with a double "e" but not always.

For example, Wise Waddle Dee just wants to be called "Wise." :P

Bandana Waddle Dee = "Bandee"

Blacksmith Waddle Dee = "Smittee" (Since I didn't want to call him his canon name of Weapons-Shop Waddle Dee in this story simply because I don't like it lol. The artistic liberty is there and I'm taking it!!)

TL;DR: All Dees with jobs/hats have names. :3

so... ace-sabo roleswap AU? (I saw one too many ASL drawings of luffy & sabo laughing tearfully while a transparent ace smiles in ghostly benevolence. now I'm side-eyeing myself like, "...you good?")

au where ace goes missing when asl are kids (after picking a fight he shouldn't have) and is presumed dead... sabo doubles down on watching over luffy and sees him through to the day they both leave

I didn't really firm up anything about the AU, except I think it'd be interesting to see how the brothers' themes would change... like

maybe Sabo's story would explore freedom vs. isolation--all the years that sabo was looking after luffy on Goa and desperately avoiding capture by his parents, he was itching to run away... as much as he loves luffy, sometimes being on the same island as his parents made him feel like he couldn't breathe

his time with the RA gives him a taste of what real freedom is like. a part of him is still trying to reconcile his love for his brothers with how it burdened him at times; after all, threats against them were part of the reason he was captured when he was younger

the climactic moment at marineford;;; would be him finally seeing how it's all connected--how his dream and luffy's and ace's all fed into each other, how the love between them gave him the strength and passion to get up every day. akainu's taunting sabo that weakness and sentiment is all the revolutionaries/pirates know, and compared to the order and stability of the govt, no single one of them will ever stand a chance--"you're like a tiny drop of water against the flames of justice" as he goes after luffy

then sabo can loosely reference one of my favorite cloud atlas lines with "what's an ocean, but a multitude of drops?" as he saves luffy, knowing that this small act of love will billow out a millionfold and he finally feels both free and connected

i guess?????? i don't know

and then

ace's story would still focus on self-worth & love, but give way more emphasis to the idea of unconditional, inherent worth

in the fight that left him separated from L & S, he was trying to sacrifice himself protect them by rushing their attacker and throwing them both over a cliff into a stormy ocean. it knocks him around and nearly drowns him--he clings to a log to float but still winds up passing out from a blow to his head

after drifting ace is found... by the whitebeards? somehow? but when he wakes up, he doesn't remember much about himself. only a feeling like someone out there needs him to protect them, he just doesn't know who

the only thing he can really do about it is beg the WBs to help him get stronger... whitebeard's heart goes out to this kid, who apparently made his entire identity about his family

he tries to subtly teach ace the idea that he doesn't have to be needed by someone to deserve to live/be a part of their family, but it never quite gets through to ace, who's got some sort of allergy to acknowledging his own self-worth (it's really bc he has nightmares about all the terrible things he heard as roger's son)

and then... 8 years have gone by, and ace is looking at a familiar face in a newspaper. he's devastated as he remembers--he knows who needed him now, his family, and he's already failed them

he still feels the need to go find luffy, though, and with WB's blessing he tracks down the strawhats... sick to his stomach the whole time, wondering how luffy will react to such a worthless older brother

luffy's immediate, unwavering joy at seeing him and learning he's safe makes it all finally click for ace--that he's loved no matter what. or, to quote another fav story, "I'm loved now, but when I wasn't, it didn't mean I wasn't worthy of it."

UH anyway this is sappy and longer than planned. sending this out into the world acting like i don't care about it when in fact, now that i spent this much time on it, i care very much

See, I personally would start with something small for my own sanity:

After Tilin’s death, Roier took his anger towards Slime and Aimee it towards Cucurucho because, like? They brought Flippa back? Why can’t they bring Tilin back??

Double that anger when Flippa dies just inches away from Roier only a breath later.

He doesn’t go the more overt route that Quackity did in canon, no. He keeps playing along, but he starts converting his torture dungeon in his basement into a multipurpose torture spreen dungeon and a torture cucurucho dungeon. Because, like, okay, Cucurucho can say no now, but Roier’s sure he can be… convinced.

(He is a man of many talents)

So, by the time Cellbit and the Brazilians crash on the island, Roier has started tagging along with the Theory Bros. Not because he really cares about the mysteries or whatever, but because he needs information on Cucurucho

Now let’s see what Roleswap Cellbit gets up to, and I’ll say this now, he’s still super into enigmas, especially once Felps gets kidnapped

But the important thing here is that Cellbit is sticking by his intention to keep his head down and raise Richarlyson… while still kinda trying to figure out what that flying green thing is. Sure, he’s vaguely murderous, but who isn’t on this island ngl

Cellbit Does Photography. He gets a picture of Felps and Cucurucho just before Felps is taken, and that’s the first time he and Roier really interact because Roier’s like “Bro fuck that guy, he stole your friend, he won’t bring our kids back to life even though he can. What a dick”

And Cellbit’s like “The kids can die for good???”

And thus, out of worry for Richarlyson, he starts tagging along with Roier when Roier goes Cucurucho Hunting with the Theory Bros

Sure, Cellbit is still royally pissed at Cucurucho, especially when Richarlyson loses both his lives and permadies in a dungeon, but he keeps it all internalized and dedicates himself to building his castle and the paranormal entity rooms in extreme detail in Richas’ honor

I was thinking about the winners hanging out, and then I was thinking about Scott borrowing Scarlet Pearl's cloak, and then it spiraled into this.

So, a little bit late Life series roleswap AU. All the Double Life soulmates swap places with each other, and that carries through the other series.

Some highlights I was thinking of:

Last Life:

Aha-lliance consisting of Cleo, Tango, Lizzie, Scar, and Bdubs. They're terrifying. They have no clue what they're doing. Cleo is the only thing keeping these fools alive. They're her fools. Half the server lives in fear of them.

Moon fairy King Mumbo and his loyal knight BigB. And their tentative allies, Martyn and Ren.

Etho, the terrifying sorcerer in the mountain, and his partner, Grian, with too sharp teeth in a jagged smile and lives to spare for the sake of claiming a life or two.. Care to make a deal?

Third life:

Red king BigB, and his most vicious protector, loyal, burning Cleo.

Scar accidentally gets Grian killed, so he swears to stick with him. Despite Grian's best efforts.

Red Grian with a massive body count, and Scar who keeps accidentally murdering people, he is so sorry, but those were his orders. Would some reputation points make it up to you?

Tango and Pearl, fireworks duo. They're either going to be your best defense or the most annoying duo you've ever had to deal with. There is no in-between.

Pearl dies, so Tango sets the world ablaze before following after. She's got an eternal fireworks show going on in their afterlife, with his red stone and all their hard work finally coming to fruition in a way it never managed to in life.

Double life:

Martyn and Pearl decide they don't need Scott and Cleo after the two team up to check out the Nether. So Scott and Cleo decide that's just fine with them, actually, and are low key terrifying for the rest of the series.

There's a tower in the woods where the air is frigid and the shadows are long and the undead linger. A flash of dull orange through the leaves. The crunch of snow on green grass. The glimpse of a red cloak before the night swallows it up, starless and starving. Something red and dark blocks out the moon above your head.

The dye won't stay in Scott's hair anymore, despite his numerous attempts. Eventually, teal seeping between his fingers, he gives up.

There's something so deeply unsettling about seeing him with only the bright crimson of for color.

Are Pearl and Martyn going to ask their soulmates to come back? No. But if Scott and Cleo chose to, then they would not stop them. Out of the kindness of their hearts.

Limited life:

Mean gils Pearl and Cleo.

Bad boys Etho, Tango, and Scar. They lack a moral compass.

Scott and Ren vibing. At some point Mumbo swaps with Scott? Or however that was interpreted. No clue who we swap Gem with, but they swap/possess Martyn.

here's what i'm thinking bc i'm not a huge AU guy: "soft roleswap" where arcade gets maybe self-defense martial arts lessons or something from the king bc he doesn't want to have to always rely on his plasma pistol (and/or he wants to get into better shape), and in exchange arcade has to find a way to wrangle the rest of the kings into something better suited to a peaceful independent new vegas.

arcade puts a bunch of stubborn 20-something greasers through goodness lessons and in the process he learns how to do a chop and a kick. HMMMM.

His sleeves is a reference to the various ways they’ve been drawn over the years! They’ve been drawn as a single sweater or a tank top + arm sleeves combo! When I first entered the fandom, there was quite a bit of debate as to whether they were arm warmers or not lol

The ZENO IF roleswap refers to an AU that marutoku wrote in which aki is the Zeno patient and Kuro is the doctor! In this au, kuro basically Alters akis memories of fuyu and natsu to put himself in there instead— so over the course of the game aki would discover that his “childhood best friend” is not actually who he believes he is. It’s a really good character study of the two in a different situation!

The heart disease book is really minor it’s the fact that the book fuyu brings aki in one of the short stories is the same as the one in one of his flashback sequences in ushirono part iirc— I’d have to double check this but this is what I remember off the top of my head lol

The Charuko king/queen herself!

DRDT Secret Switch AU: In this AU, SS!Teruko and SS!Charles have a pretty casual friendship. Nothing of note here, apart from missing-brother solidarity.

DRDT Roleswap AU: Whit!Teruko and Eden!Charles both work hard to spread positivity and smiles to the rest of the KG participants, to mixed results. They're both nightmares in the kitchen, however.

DRDT SEKAI AU: Teruko and Charles are classmates in this AU, but they barely interact.

DRDT Beta AU: Out of all of her classmates, Beta!Teruko considers Beta!Charles to be one of the biggest hazards in the class, right up there with Beta!Xander. And Beta!Charles revels in it!

DRDT Wheel KG: Just like everybody else, Charles was ultimately a pawn in Teruko's scheme. It was quite amazing how the hemophobic Charles Cuevas managed to commit a double murder (and on the two most optimistic people in the cast, no less) though.

you guys im so fed up that im finally making this tumblr post, no one is ready, esp not me.

okay so idk whos actually played ace attorney, i personally played the first game and am currently playing apollo justice, but ive watched playthroughs of the first trilogy. but what the fuck is up with “theatre major phoenix” no the fuck he isnt. did yall not play the same as me? i know he has a flair for the dramatic, but most of his dramatic mannerisms are actually picked up from people he cares about (mostly mia and edgeworth ive found). but see, where the gameplay comes in, is that i never knew what was relevant to the case — and just like reading phoenix flavor text — so id tap on everything i could examine. everything. this, pretty much 100% of the time, includes art pieces in buildings. you would not believe the shit phoenix has to say

i think its modern art in mias office that you can look at and hell just rip into as being technically terrible. either the painting grossburg likes or the one in april mays hotel room hell talk about how the oil pastels are laid on too thick. he doesnt know more than two kinds of flower. this is my most damning evidence, he knows tulips and sunflowers and thats it, he talks about it. i dont think he can even recognize roses on sight as different from other similar flowers, he knows tulips and sunflowers and past that hes given up. theres no way hes a drama kid.

on top of that theres just. what kind of theatre kid calls themselves an art major? theyd specify (i have theatre friends, theyd specify), unless he was like, double majoring performing arts and also painting, i just have a hard time believing it. and i can get “i need him to be a drama kid for my roleswap au” bc ive made decisions like that before, but dont try and tell me that canon phoenix wright was doing theatre bc i listened to him talk about paintings and i know if he was involved in any kind of theatre thing it was like. helping paint the sets.

Alright y'all, it's the

Demon Ron AU

This one was a bit of a Rodie roleswap, but also not exactly. A lot of it was brainstormed with @thumperdaetime, hi thumps! 💖

In this AU Jodie is just one of the human dads, and he signs Ron's equivalent of the Battleaxe of Hatred, which is a harp guitar. When Ron first properly shows up and the party is worried, but he just acts cute and has useful information and seems to only want to flirt with Jodie.

"You really didn't define any terms here at all. That's just bad business. Anything could happen."

Anyway, Ron is the son of a powerful demon lord (Willy). But he doesn't fit Willy's ideal of what a demon should be: ruthless.

Ron's given name in this is actually Ragnvaldr, an Old Norse name composed of the elements reign meaning "advice, counsel" and valdr meaning "power, ruler"

But he chooses to go by Ron, which has the meaning "song, joy"

Oh also, Samantha and Terry Jr are from the Forgotten Realms in this AU and Ron meets Samantha because Terry Jr. summoned him in an attempt to get his dad back. Ron won't make a soul deal with a child, and talks to Samantha about it, and ends up staying to keep an eye out for any other dangers Terry might summon while he's working through this.

Willy doesn't initially care that he's gone until he realizes what he's up to. Willy is the one to imprison Ron in the harp guitar for "not being demon enough". Aka having a loving relationship with a mortal and choosing to help her raise a kid. After being imprisoned his memories are a bit scrambled, but he does want to get home to them too.

The harp guitar also has the potential to be very destructive, cause it's Willy going "No matter how soft you talk, this is what you are. You are made to take and destroy. You can't run from what you are."

Jodie may be the one who signed the guitar, but Glenn is the one who fucking loves it initially. Ron is not super lucid in the guitar but he feels loved and cared for and appreciated. Handled gently. Ron feels a lot of affection off the bat for Glenn.

I did write a little snippet for Ron getting out of the guitar. This is one of the rare AUs where I sibling-zone Glenn & Jodie:

Glenn yelped as fire split the center of the double necked harp guitar, dazzling up the strings like a sparkler on the 4th of July. "Just drop it!" Jodie hissed next to him, whacking his brother on the shoulder as his voice lilted up a few octaves. Glenn grimaced, but reluctantly dropped the beautifully crafted instrument. It was going up in flames anyway. The moment it clattered onto the hard stone ground it split into two with a loud pop, like logs on a fire. Fire flared outward in a magical pulse, but did little harm more then just flaring hot and biting across their skin. When the glare of light faded from their eyes, it was to a demon standing in the rubble of the fractured instrument. Or, Glenn assumed it was the demon. He was short. Shorter than Glenn anyway, and only a little shorter than Jodie, with cloven feet and arcing rounded horns on his head, like a ram. The man shook ash from his hair, flicking floppy, soft looking ears, and blinking eyes with goat-like pupils as he got his bearings. He touched his hands together, a look far too much like childish wonder sparking in his ember orange eyes as he realized he was tangible. And then his gaze drifted over to the two of them. "I- um, Hi, I'm Ron."

Willy is still a source of power to this settings Omega Daddies too, but as a patron.

There a scene vaguely planned where Ron tries to distract Willy during a confrontation, and one of his horns gets snapped after Willy flings him and he whacks really hard into something.

When he found him, Ron had tucked himself into a small alcove, like a wounded animal desperately hiding from a predator. His eyes were scrunched tightly shut, body trembling. Glenn sucked in a sharp breath. His right horn was broken, a jagged edge of keratin where it was supposed to arc back around. The area was matted with blood, slicking that side of his head in a sickly sheen. "Shit," Glenn hissed. Ron cringed away from his voice, a soft keening noise of pain and desperation escaping him as he tried to burrow further into his earthen hiding place. "Hey, it's okay," Glenn intoned, trying to soften his tone of voice. He needed Jodie or Henry, he needed someone who could heal properly. "Shhhh," Glenn soothed, running his thumb along Ron's soft ear. A softer whine escaped Ron, one more sad and pleading, as opposed to scared. "Nobody is gonna hurt you," Glenn promised softly. He started to hum gently to the demon, who sank more heavily into his touch.

If it’s cool asking, in your roleswap au, what exactly happened between zenitsu, kaigaku and the corps? Did this universe’s kuwajima have anything to do with the two and do Kaigaku and Gyomei still have a sort of connection? Also, what’s Kaigaku up to in the current events of the story, is he still being taken under the wing of Kokushibo?? He’s a demon(?) so he can’t possibly be being treated well by the corps.

Finally! Is there a reason as to why Akaza was absent during the two’s trial (besides to make him more redeemable lmao)

Personally, I feel like Kaigaku was the character with the most wasted potential in canon, considering the amount of connections he had with other characters and his entire circumstance what with being a slayer-turned-demon and still being a kid on top of that (I think he was 17 when he was turned (maybe even 16)) and I think it would have been nice to see a little more introspection from him at the end of it all, not necessarily to redeem him, I think it made sense for him to die. One of my favourite things about kny is how they handle their morals and always double down on the value held in each individual human life, (it always irks me in action movies whenever the hero brutally murders a bunch of goons and like never looks back on it, especially if they end up sparing the big bad, but I digress) but yeah, would’ve been neat for the guy to have a bit more nuance in the actual story.

So! Zenitsu's backstory is functionally the same as in canon. He ends up getting swindled by a bunch of girls, falls into crushing debt, and the Corps buys it up. It's actually a pretty common thing for the Corps to do in this universe, the Kibutsujis love having people indebted to them, making it impossible for them to leave the Corps (like what happened to the Kamado family). Anyways! Zenitsu's debt is bought out by the Corps, and he's given to Kuwajima to train. Unfortunately for Zenitsu, this version of the Corps is not... very lenient with his intense cowardice and reluctance to fight. Even moreso than in canon, that is

Now, as for Kaigaku, he does still have a bit of a connection to Gyomei! Gyomei encountered him as an orphan, and would do what he could to take care of him without actually bringing him to the Infinity Palace, for want of him being able to grow up and lead a normal life without demons. But this makes Kaigaku bitter, as he wants the luxuries being favored by a Kizuki and Tamayo brings. When he realizes Gyomei is never going to "adopt" him in earnest, he goes to the Corps, reasoning that they'll offer some kind of reward for information on Upper Moon One. Unfortunately for Kaigaku, long term contact with a Kizuki, even as a kid, pretty much gets you labeled as a traitor to humanity to the Corps, and he's given the choice of execution or train to be a slayer. It's obvious which one he picks, and he ends up training with Kuwajima as well. His relationship with Zenitsu is virtually the same as it is in canon

To circle back to Zenitsu's progress in training being abysmal, the Corps sends both him and Kaigaku to fight a demon before they even go through Final Selection. The reasoning is that this will prove whether they're worth investing any more time and money into. Kaigaku's training has been going pretty well, but unfortunately for him, since he's training under Kuwajima at the same time as Zenitsu, they're a package deal. This is also partially to see if Kuwajima's still got it and isn't functionally useless to the Corps now, even as a trainer.

Unsurprisingly, the little "mission" goes fucking horribly. Zenitsu fucks it up in about every way imaginable, and Kaigaku can't do much to salvage it. The only reason they don't die is because Kuwajima steps in to kill the demon, as he's grown too attached to them to just let them die. This results in nothing good for any three of them.

Kuwajima is stripped of any titles, as well as cut off from pay from the Corps for not only failing as an instructor, but going against orders to save Zenitsu and Kaigaku's lives, while Zenitsu and Kaigaku are brought to their trial for it to be discussed what to do with them, as they are still indebted to the Corps. They're quickly deemed too useless (Zenitsu) and volatile (Kaigaku) to be used as kakushi, and they both have the world's worst luck.

Because the Corps has started looking into experimentation with "tamed" demons due to a certain sibling duo (Gyutaro and Ume), as well as Akaza and the Kamado family. Demons that fight demons would be beneficial, the Corps just has to come up with a reliable way to control them, and making their own seems to be the better option, rather than capturing them and attempting to force them to comply.

This also answers your question for why Akaza was not present for this trial! It has only been hinted at so far, but Akaza is of demonic descent in this AU. He is granted the title of Hashira due to his skill and extremely high kill count of demons, but none of the privileges. He's Muzan's favorite dog. His heritage is kept under wraps from most of the Corps, but the other Hashira are aware of it. His word isn't counted at all during meetings, and as such, he isn't even invited to them more often than not. Especially when they are discussing what to do with other hybrids, or tamed demons.

But anyways! It's decided that Zenitsu and Kaigaku are useless to the Corps as they are, but they can be used for these experiments! So they're given to Gyokko (who is the one in charge of said experiments), and are turned into demons. Afterwards, they are given to Kokushibo to "tame" and control. It's up to him to use them as weapons during missions, and report how it goes.

Zenitsu is fucking miserable and terrified during all of this. Kaigaku is enraged and blames Zenitsu for it, but is determined to be as good of an attack dog as possible in an attempt to get back in the Corps' good graces (this will never work, but let the boy dream).

Not long after this is when Nezuko stumbles across them, and manages to fight against Kokushibo long enough for Zenitsu to break free and run. Kaigaku is given the chance as well, but he stays by Kokushibo's side in an attempt to prove his loyalty. As mentioned in the current ongoing installment, this is what earned Nezuko her spot as Lower Moon Six, and is why Zenitsu is so clingy with her

So currently, Zenitsu is living his pathetic little life as a ward of the Kizuki being terrified of everyone around him, and Kaigaku is foolishly believing he can be obedient enough to get back in the Corps' good graces, as if he isn't muzzled and shackled and tailing after Kokushibo on missions to be sicced on random demons

Sorry about the wall of text, but I've had such a fun time translating Zenitsu and Kaigaku's backstory into this AU, and I have a lot of fun things planned for them in the character development department.

I also completely agree about Kaigaku! I wish we saw a lot more of him than we did in canon. Tbh I love everything about his story line, from his history with Gyomei, to constantly berating Zenitsu for being a coward, to becoming a demon due to his own cowardice. I just really wish we got to see a lot more of his own introspection on it all, rather than so much of his story through Zenitsu and Kokushibo's eyes, ya know? But yeah, he's a fun character to mess around with! Lots of potential for sure!

Are there any fic ideas that you'd want to see but don't want to write?

Oh boy! Of course!

To be honest, the Green Lantern story is one of the big ones lmfao. It would be a massive undertaking for an audience of maybe five people. A niche audience normally doesn't stop me, but for such a long story, there's other uses of my time. There is also the fact that it just feels made for television. Same with my Legion of Superheroes Zoobomafoo thing - it just doesn't feel right in a text format. It's webcomic coded. I wish I could draw sometimes!

Then there's the story ideas for my AUs and other fandoms I've moved on from. There's still a few ideas for the No Chip AU in my back pocket (Cody redemption feat. Boba Fett following him around Tatooine yelling at him; Fox as the vigilante sidekick to his insane PA) and my normal Roleswap (Luke & Leia embark on a Great Father Mystery Hunt and bother Fox in the woods). There's also the continuation stories/sequels I've started but haven't finished and don't know if they will get finished (Roleswap Obi-Wan meets his birth family; my Buffy fic Angel and Cordelia through the years). There's other unfinished stories there (the Frenchie story which is literally only missing the final scene, the Heroes For Hire meeting story which is literally only missing the final scene) which I'm pretty sure I'll finish when I feel like it. I don't consider those WIPs so much as 'when I care again I'll go finish them'.

Then there's the stories that I just couldn't make into a decent story (the Naruto fix-it; the roleswap(ish?) story with adult bounty hunters Boba and Omega teaching runaway clones Luke and Leia the power of family and incredible violence). Not every idea is good outside of concept lol.

TL;DR: If I have a fic idea but haven't written it, it's because of one or more reasons: a) the idea itself is too big, b) the idea just doesn't seem right for fic, c) I've moved on from the fandom and don't want to work on it at this moment anymore, d) it just wouldn't make a good story.

If you notice, these are all active choices on my part. I only mention this because a lot of my friends can't relate, so I don't know how common it is even though I assumed it was common, and it's kind of hard to describe: there's no barrier between me having an idea and writing it. Does that make sense? If I have an idea and it'll make a good story and I want to write it I'll write it, at least until I realize that it wouldn't make a good story and I scrap it. If I think about something for too long I write it [this is why I am easily egged on][this is also why I write things I swore never to write very frequently].

Writing is like. It's easy. You just write stuff. You just think something and then you write it. It's uncomplicated.

If it's bad. Writing is easy if what you're writing is bad. It's easy to write 100k if the 100k is bad. There's a ton of shortcuts you can take, which are really useful for beginning writers and was really useful for me a few years ago. I can describe those if you'd like. It's much, much, much harder to write something good. It's hardest when you need something to be good. Writing a good 100k is really hard. I am constantly telling people not to jump into the novels kjlsdf.

Double TL;DR that has nothing to do with the topic: You can write whatever you want if you're okay with it being bad. Making bad art rocks and is a lot of fun and completely necessary towards my emotional well-being. I highly recommend it.

we have swapped the scugs based on their spot on the timeline and the iterators based on what Feels Right so that's why sliver/moon and suns/pebbles are swapped. sig/innocence are also swapped

the way this iterators situations happened is that the ancients in charge of building moon and pebbles messed up big time and forgot to actually make them care about finding the solution. moon dies for [reason we havent come up with yet] so most of the other iterators came to the conclusion that not caring is actually the solution

but since all the other iterators are coded to care about it they need to find a way around this. suns gets in contact with pebbles and asks him to send them instructions on changing their genes to not care but pebbles sends them a faulty tutorial and suns gets the rot and makes sliver collapse in the process

now for the scugs. saint takes the role of pebbles' messenger to send suns the illegal wikihow pearls. instead of lacking a mouth it's missing an arm so it can have an item in storage but only one actively usable item

rivulet takes the role of Seeking Vengeance On Creatures. we want this to be not-scavengers but still stirring ideas for that. they're electric boogie woogie woogie

monk takes the role of innocence's messenger to revive sliver. she's still sick but in tune with the world so nature helps their frail self through this

survivor takes the role of his colony's scout to look for a new place to migrate too. they're like an expedition to find vista points in every region

gourmand was the leader of his colony but during their migration he was washed away in the rain and is trying to find his way back. hunter was the other strongest member of the colony so they volunteered to go back and find him. gay people hooray

artificer takes the role of a traveling slugcat that happens upon suns and sliver's facility grounds and decides to help them. she can double jump and jet through the water but without the explosiveness

spearmaster takes the role of the creature who has to ascend everything else. except with Reach Heaven Through Violence methods. at karma 10 they get insta-kill spears like the darkness mod. also the world is dry and hot instead of frozen
