Unpopular opinion time

OH BUT I FEEL IT IN MY BONES YALL

Wednesday Addams wouldn't be altogether crazy about Eddie Munson immediately. He's loud and he frolics, and he teases his enemies as if this will outwill them and shows all of his softness in far too many obvious ways. Funny voices, certainly defensive of his children -- but his teeth aren't sharp enough, and he hides his wounds behind his laughter like they're still raw. Something of her Uncle Fester there, perhaps, if she has to make the connection.

But Harrington.

He dresses in bright colors and makes sure to listen to the same boring songs as everyone else around him.

But he has no favorite color, no favorite song.

His sarcasm bites, so much so that he tries to make it playful, and he watches every face that crosses his path, studies their hands. Stares into each dark corner of every bright room, gazes sometimes even at the angles that may be lit now but will be the first to fall into shadows later.

The sickeningly sweet loud boy's favorite boy chooses weapon over protection, action and pain without hesitation once he knows it's time to act.

He does not frolic.

Harrington only watches and protects while others do, mimes care enough to fit in but is the first to fall quiet, still, to remove himself, to stop reading the script once his role has ended. It's immediately clear that he's long lost any interest feigned or otherwise in such foolish pursuits of attention, affection, acceptance.

Past being defensive of those he considers family, it's clear he posseses the true mark of dark and perfect and wildly self-controlled things --

Harrington will kill for his young, for his family.

Split skin, break bone, release his own blood if needed.

Harrington makes her think of the just-pale-enough twinkle lights that Enid threads around her favorite crypt on her birthday weekend before pulling the absolutely ridiculous fuzzy blindfold off, of how the little lights looked sparkly from a distance until she'd stepped closer -- already drawing together every sharp word about such blasphemy against such a masterpiece of stone and shadow -- and then stopped.

Stared.

Realized with surprise just how lovely it was.

The delicate sparkling only made the depths through the open door darker, the space beyond them fuller of things that maybe should never see the light of day.

Wise perhaps, to hide such things with camouflage.

So it takes time to warm up to Munson.

Harrington she decides immediately is worth broken bones, some bruises. Definitely a little blood.

Clearly Steve is meant to be one of hers.

Girl Scouts

Wednesday: I find this whole notion entirely ridiculous, and I protest it vehemently, Enid!

Enid: Come on, Willa! It'll be a fun and enriching experience for her. She'll meet so many new people, and she'll learn valuable life skills there. I don't see what the problem here is!

Wednesday: The problem here is that you're trying to send our daughter to a cult of patriarchal values and insufficient education of basic survival skills.

Enid: First of all, it's not a "cult" and second, I hear the Girl Scouts has actually gotten a lot better about the whole "women belong in the kitchen" thing. Eugene's daughter went last year, and she actually really enjoyed herself! And what are you even talking about, "basic survival skills"?

Wednesday: What I mean is, my family has a long-standing tradition where each new Addams, once they've reached the proper age of two years old, will be trained by the family all necessary skills that all Addams are well-versed in. Fighting, hunting, torture plus torture survival, and most importantly, the rich and in-depth history of our family. Jillian was supposed to go through this when she turned two as well, but you insisted we push it back, which I agreed to because I value your authority as her mother.

Jillian: Whether to send me to Girl Scouts or not.

There are a few things that irritate me about the way sapphic ships are treated in fandom spaces so I'm gonna rant about it:

First off I hate when fans pretend to ship a sapphic pairing because they want to get the girl from the hetero pairing out of the way of their mlm pairing. I'm looking at you merthur, jegulus, byler and steddie shippers. The thing is if they actually shipped the sapphic ship I wouldn't mind, make everyone gay it's better that way. The problem is when I click on the tab of the sapphic ship looking for some nice fics and see 600 works with 99 percent of them being background blink and you miss it mentions/appearances. I thought the reason the straight ship didn't work was because you just love this one sapphic pairing but I'm not seeing a lot of love right now.

My second gripe is with people who try to devalue sapphic ships saying they're just best friends, looking at you wenclair antis. First off people have been shipping best friends since the beginning of time whether they be two guys or a guy and a girl but when its two girls suddenly it's a problem. This also applies to the people always bugging catglass shippers like kitty isn't canonically bi with a crush on yuri. Which wasn't random stop saying that. However this is actually an example of the first point but switched around with people pretending to love yuri and her gf to get yuri out of the way so kitty and minho can happen but that's another conversation.

My third one may actually with the community why is it that two male characters who never once interact in canon can get over 20k fics but canon wlw ships fight to reach 5000? And when we do make similar ships to the ones I just mentioned they literally never leave tumblr. You guys will make 100s of memes and edits about ships but when I get to ao3 it's a wasteland.

The final one for now is how we can't seem to have more than one popular ship at a time like the stranger things fandom has three popular mlm ships coexisting but we can only have one and for some reason the queer bait ship always beats the canon one like wenclair vs yokovina why can't we have both. For the love of god someone write a solo yokovina fic I'll take a one-shot at this point.

Anyways....We need to do better people.
