🌫 Fog - What was the hardest part of your WIP to write?

I think currently with there is no other land is trying to essentially bring the Roy and Jamie friendship back together. I spent a lot of time thinking about and breaking down how their relationship has fractured and now I'm beefing up chapter 3 I'm trying to bring them to a better place with it still being earned and not just skipping forward to happy times.

🌬 Wind - What was the easiest part of your WIP to write?

Sticking with there is no other land, I would say the easiest parts are kind of opposites. I found writing the part of chapter 2 when Jamie leaves after the movie to go see (Spoiler in case anyone hasn't read it and wants to) to flow but also the happy ending at very end came very easily <3

🌨 Sleet - What's the most you've ever written in one sitting? So I can't really do this anymore but I used to manage 3000 words in a few hours when I first started writing fanfic 😅 I can probably manage around 2000 when it comes to my original work now, and 1000 for fanfic.

🏝 Hurricane - Do you often stick to one WIP and finish it, then move on, or do you bounce between WIPs? *Looks at WIP folder* erm safe to say I have a hundred few on the go!

So right now I'm trying to finish the last few parts of Her Royal Highness, finish a one shot (Alex Vs Goodreads Trolls), planning my first longform fic (The Prince and He), keeping notes for a potential longform fic (Bea in Cakegate AU) and dipping into my ongoing fic Digital Love Letters when I fancy. And that's just the fanfic.

I'm also editing my first novel Decompose (YA dystopian sci-fi which I am looking for readers for the next draft of!) and occasionally writing into a sapphic holiday romance novel that I'm thinking about posting in regular updates (still unsure on this though 🥲)

☀️what’s your favorite part of your WIP

Honestly the chaos that sims adds to anything, when I’m writing something I’ve pre-planned I have a lot of control, which isn’t a bad thing. But with the sims I have some rules about limiting my control, like all the traits are randomized, I have mods to make different types of events happen, I follow whims and such (like as much as I want the Carters to have a huge family right now I limit myself to only do the try for baby option when either George or Rosalie have the whim pop up). So I love how that forces me to adapt and write in a way that I wouldn’t normally write

🌙 what’s a recurring theme in your WIP(s)

Well I know that no one here has seen any other WIP from me but I would say playing with perception. Like I love telling stories where people’s perceptions are opposites or even just slightly different. Which could be impacted by upbringing or personality or previous experience. Like how George sees Isabela as the woman who stole his brother away and thinks she’s a bad person and doesn’t get along with her. Whereas Rosalie sees her as her closest friend and loves talking and spending time with her. I like to remind myself and people reading that not everyone is going to like you, and that people will perceive things differently, which isn’t always a bad thing. Plus it’s fun to write so I do it a lot lol

🌪 Tornado - Who is your most impulsive character and why?

Oh, that's a toss-up I think between Zander and Quest. Zander's more impulsive in words, and Quest in actions.

Quest tends to get one Really Cool Idea and then just. Do that. Without stopping to workshop the concept. Zander opens his mouth and doesn't engage a single braincell and then goes surprised pikachu when people are pissed at him.

💧Rain - What's the most emotional scene you've ever written?

there's not a ton of highly emotional stuff in RP - it's a fantasy romp, and a setup book, all the emotional payoffs are in the books I have yet to actually write.

you know where I do have emotional payoffs happening right now? my fic series Obedience. some of the most emotional scenes I've ever pulled out are coming up in that, and I'm so proud of them. They're all Ashenivir dealing with his issues and opening up to Rizeth about some Extremely Important stuff.

The chapter where he finally (five years into their arrangement) realises oh shit i'm in love is probably the most high emotion one. I'm so excited to polish it and show it to people eventually. writing slow burn is agony but it's worth it to write scenes like that.

I like to write whenever I can find some free time alone and undisturbed - which is a hard find in my house with my family. Often it is late at night in my bedroom on my laptop. Though I have had some great spurts of writing while taking the train into the city - scribbling in a journal I keep with me at all times.

🌨 Sleet - What's the most you've ever written in one sitting?

I'd like to say maybe 1,000 words? And that's on a really really REALLY good day. I tend to write in very short bursts most of the time.

You didn't specify which WiP, so I hope you don't mind me defaulting to longfic.

💧Rain - What's the most emotional scene you've ever written?

I written quite a few, but out of all that have made it to final draft, I would have to go with the upcoming chapter 91.

Now, if you are including original drafts that didn't make it into the final cut, the original version of chapter 26. I couldn't even go back over it for edits without crying, then I got the call that my grandfather passed. I literally rewrote the whole chapter and deleted the original (on of the few original drafts I actually deleted instead of saving in case I wanted to use something from it for later).

☀️ Sun - What's your favorite part of your WIP?

I have a lot of favorite parts, but I still absolutely love the dream sequence at the beginning of chapter 5. It was one of those scenes that was just so clear to me and it flowed right out. I actually had it written before I finished the prior chapter (and that was back when I was posting hot-off-the-press).

🌈 Rainbow - What do you think makes your story unique / stand out?

The fact that it's like some of the OC fics from the early days where the AU and canon are so intricately woven together that it becomes it's own thing while still holding elements of the core source (at least that's how I've had it described in a few comments lol).

I mean, I think it's unique. I haven't really seen anything like it. I've seen several elements of it in various fics, but not combined like how I've done it.

☀️ Sun - What's your favorite part of your WIP?

For Names in Their Blood, I'm really reveling in how good the characters are trying to be to each other in the midst of all the bullshit I'm putting them through. These relationships matter so much to them, even when it's hard.

For Doll's Eye View, it's really fun to play with the perspective of an AI that's a building, that people see as a person, that's also trying to work out how to use it's smaller, more portable, humanoid robot body. There's a bit where they try to navigate a tiny prototype through Opal's Victorian dollhouse, to practice interacting with furniture and such.

Aww ty for the support !! <3<3 And that's a pretty neat question; top 3 would be the smell of old books, honey and (strangely enough) gasoline??? But the last one is soso rare for him he finds it exciting when he happens to catch a whiff, even if he has no idea what it is haha.

If you happen to be the type to wear perfumes/scents, he'd quickly associate the smell with you and have it be another one of his favorites :-)

for some reason im really feeling the Queer Euphoria in this chilis tonight, specifically: being so ambiguous its hilarious. there is No label to describe my orientation/gender. like yeah i use nonbinary bc technically it fits but also bc the flag Fucks. if asked, my only correct answer would be "Wildcard, Motherfucker!"

☀️ what’s your favorite part of your WIP

One of my other favorite things about the Carter Legacy is being able to tell a historical story. I’m a writer and a history nerd (I even teach middle school history as my day job so I must really like it to talk about it all day lol) so when the opportunity presented itself to tell a sims story that spanned generations I happily jumped on it. My favorite (and sometimes least favorite) part about history is that humanity never really changes. So being able to explore similar themes and experiences through a family going through decades makes me really happy. Obviously I’ve only made it to 1893 or so (posting wise - no spoilers but I’ve got more stuff coming 😉) but looking ahead I’m excited to explore future generations of Carters who will - without knowing themselves - have a lot of similar frustrations and joys as their ancestors.

Definitely the interactions between the main cast. Don’t get me wrong, I love my weird little word, but my collection of queer little idiots and their banter is utterly joyful. Half my first draft is them just riffing off each other, and I know I have to reign it in a smidge next go-round but I love it.

🌌 Clear Skies - How long have you been writing your current WIP?

I originally drafted RP in 2021, so coming on 2 years now. Since then I’ve been worldbuilding and vibing but not drafting, though I’m chomping at the bit and hoping to start again this year. Gotta wrap up my other fanfic novel first or my brain will melt though TT_TT

I think where Ryou forgives Bakhure. That was a huge moment for him, and I may have almost cried myself.

Well, since the whole thing is from Bakhure PoV, obviously him. He's having to feel all these things he didn't realize he was capable of feeling, and he's having to process his way through all of it.

🌙 Eclipse - What's the most common / reoccurring theme of your WIP(s)?

Pushing forward even when things keep pushing back. Sometimes you stumble a few steps back and sometimes you get knocked on your ass, but you have to just keep going...even if it's crawling along the ground until you can find it in you to stand up again.

Your timing is excellent and your questions are perfect! I just decided over the weekend to get serious about dragging myself out of the slump I've been in since December. My focus is Violet, like these delights which is the Jo POV sequel to Blue, like don't forget about me. I've got most of an outline done, but got inspired yesterday and might scrap nearly all of it to do something slightly different that would fit her character better and be more interesting for me to write.

I made a whole chart of word count goals for the month of May based on day of the week and plans I know I have and what days I have to go into the office and what days I get to work from home. It totals out to 18,700 words by end of May. I'm two days in and sitting at 2,531 words out of my goal of 3,000. Not a strong start but I am chipping away at the rust and flushing out the neglected pipes and honestly just happy I'm doing anything at all lol

I am also reacquainting myself with the sprint bot in the writeblr discord server I'm in. It helps commit me to actually getting words on the page but also kind of sucks when no one joins and it's just me and my piddly word counts slugging away for 2 hours for everyone to see.

They were supposed to get married in February (fucked up, unnatural time for a wedding but nobody asked her), but then Teddy freaked out acting like a little backyard shindig wouldn’t be good enough and now they’re shelling out actual cash money to stand around in a swanky lodge for six hours and eat overpriced chicken. Downright foolish, but again, nobody asked her.

“I tried but he said he could tell I was just trying to get out of it.” Steel gray eyes stare into hers. “Jo, I don’t care about napkins.”

“I don’t think anybody cares about napkins.”

“That’s what I—!” He lowers his voice. “That’s what I said.”

“But Teddy cares about—,”

“That’s the thing,” Nash interrupts, eyes wide, animated in his exasperation. “He doesn’t care either.”

“Then why—,”

“He thinks—,” He wrinkles his nose, then confesses, “He thinks it’s one of those things where maybe I do care, I just haven’t thought about it enough to know.”

“That’s ridiculous.”

“They’re napkins.”
