Every once in a while I'll be drinking a pop at work and then I'll remember that part of the advice my mother gave me before my job interview was "never, ever drink pop or anything but water in front of your co-workers." Which was really stupid advice that I did not follow, but also a great reminder that my mother really is disgusted by pretty much everything I do, which is always phrased in the form of "well, of course it doesn't bother me, but other people are judging you!" Just a fun thing to think about during lunch.

🌹Ice's Lazy Loc Wash Routine🌹
I wanna preface this with two very important things:
I do not retwist my own locs! It would take far longer if I did. I have the tools and the means, and I know how to do it. I just hate doing it 🤣. It takes patience and arm strength and I lack the will. When I have the money I just schedule a retwist. Usually about every three months (which is longer than usual)
This is the way EYE do it! This is one experience out of countless, so don't assume my way is THEE way. There are people that will probably scream at me through the screen. But alas... It is "lazy" Loc wash day for a reason. And I do still care for my hair, and it's healthy and thriving for seven years (as of this Wednesday) 👍🏾
Okay? Okay.
Washing
The misconception about locs is that they are dirty. They're no "dirtier" than any other type of hair, nor do they require dirt to lock. That's a lie, and a racist one at that.
That being said, locs will end up holding the weight of life lol. Skin, sweat, dust, pollen, smells (and for me, bc I have dermatitis, scabs); all those things will end up weighing your locs down. Some people will do an Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda wash to detox their locs.
However, I use this!
Tumblr media
Essentially it's water, apple cider vinegar, orange peel, and some essential oils in a spray bottle, so I can spray it directly on my scalp and locs and massage it in deeply. Let it sit for a bit. Because I only wash my hair every 2 weeks or so, it's fine, but I wouldn't do this if I was washing it more frequently as it could mess up my scalp pH. Again, I have painful dermatitis, so it helps me get closer to my problem spots. Does it burn? Yes. It's working 👍🏾
Tumblr media
Then I use this soap bar, which has things like coconut oil, aloe vera, eucalyptus, tea tree, almond, lemongrass, and more in it to scrub my scalp. You're supposed to rub it into your hands and scrub it in, so naturally I put the bar directly on my scalp. Be better than me. Smells AMAZING though and leaves my scalp clearer than it has ever been.
Medicated Shampoo
I use a medicated shampoo last. While that sits, I bathe 👍🏾 Bathe well, too 👍🏾 Please make sure your characters are bathing when they wash their hair 👍🏾
Once I'm done, I gently pull my locs apart (they WILL start tangling at the root IMMEDIATELY), then I wrap my hair in a beach towel. You're supposed to use t shirts because they're softer on curls, but I don't like water dripping on me while I get dressed. I put on easy to wear clothing. Tits loose clothing. I gotta be comfortable.
Medication
So if you know me, this is something I complain about ALL THE TIME. And it's how dermatology does NOT cater to Black patients! Even my shampoo says "for 30 days, wash every night". I'm Black with locs. My shampoos last for months bc that is impossible without me sacrificing my entire night, every night. Even if I had an Afro, we're still not supposed to wash our hair every night for fear of stripping the natural oils.
So I have to DEMAND I be given a medicated liquid solution. No petroleum based products!! A solution is the easiest way to reach my scalp. Does it burn? Yes. It's working. 👍🏾
So if your character has a skin issue (dermatitis, psoriasis, exzema excema eczema) on the scalp... Solutions are the easy way to go.
Moisturizing
Tumblr media
I promise this isn't free ads lmao, I just happen to be experimenting with this company and I like what I've seen so far. This is a real lite oil spray with rose water and essential oils, and it cools my scalp.
Tumblr media
Aloe Vera, the goddess of healing. Also cools my scalp and addresses those burning, pink spots from my dermatitis.
Drying
Tumblr media
Drying depends on the length and thickness of your locs, and the temperature. Mine are shoulder length, pencil thick. Today I dried at real high heat (unintentionally) and it only took about an hour. At a lesser, safer heat, about two. This hair dryer bag is LIFE fr.
Conclusion
Tumblr media
If I don't have anywhere else to go (and I don't, bc I plan my loc wash days like this) I spray my scalp with oil one more time, put on my loc sock, and then I'm done 👍🏾
Total time today: about two hours. Normally 3 at a lower dry temp. Not bad at all.

What is it?
I can’t even tell you have it. Isn’t it just dry skin? I used to have something similar called eczema when I was a kid.
What is it, anyway?
If I had a penny for the countless times I have heard all of these uttered, I could be retired, with plenty of money.
But instead, I’m still a poor old teacher, so I figured I would share my 5 plus decades of psoriasis in a humorous way. Is this a coping mechanism? Perhaps. If it is cathartic for me, then hell, I’ll keep doing it. At least, until I really can retire!
So, let’s try to answer one question today - what is it? One could surely Google it and find something along the lines of “an autoimmune condition in which skin cells build up and form scales and itchy, dry patches. Triggers include infections, stress, and cold.”
However, I have a little different answer. So indulge me while I tell you what it is…
It is not being able to wear that little black dress without constant worry of flakes from your scalp coating your dress.
It is wearing long pants and long shirts, even in the heat, to cover the plaques.
It is dousing your head in scalp oil and sleeping in a shower cap. (Here comes the lunch lady, dear.)
It is slathering topical steroids all over your torso and wrapping yourself in Saran Wrap before bed. (If you’re thinking chicken salad sandwich at this point, you are catching on.)
It is constant fighting with insurance companies to get approval for the latest medications.
It is finally getting a biologic that works, only to find out you contracted latent TB & now have to stop your miracle drug.
It is leaving the dermatologist’s office in tears when they tell you there’s nothing else they can prescribe.
It is going to tanning beds and thinking being plaque free is somehow better than the potential skin cancer.
It is losing weight and wanting to wear a bikini, but only when you’re alone in your backyard because your skin is dotted with plaques. (Okay, maybe 50 plus year olds should stick to tankinis anyway)
It is your own immune system giving you “the bird”.
It is alienating.
It is depressing.
It is incurable.
It is psoriasis and yes, the p is silent.

Today was a really nice day but I did not make any art and I feel a little bad about that. But thats is okay. It was still a really good day.
I had trouble falling asleep last night but I did sleep well. I got woken up before 830 because dad decided to call me to tell me to put air in our spare tire?? Why! James has triple A. And we have 2 different air compressors in the trunk. But it was nice to hear his voice even if I was very sleepy.
It was a beautiful day though. I got up and went to find James. I went and got a shower and washed my hair. And got dressed and felt really cute. I think I am back to daily eyeliner instead of mascara. Mascara in the summer, liner in the winter? Regardless it made me feel really pretty today.
I wasnt interested in eating anything. I played a little animal crossing while James read. But once I was done with that I just wandered around the apartment. Just kind of without purpose. James said we could go get groceries together but until then I didnt know what to do with myself.
James said we could leave around 11. So that at least gave me a timeframe. So I laid in bed and watched videos and chose the shoes I wanted to wear and I felt good.
We headed out and I wore my new mask that has flowers and is my favorite garnet color. And it was really lovely today. I am excited I can wear sweaters and things again.
The grocery store was fun. We discovered that the lettuce I got that I felt tasted weird was actually cabbage. Which makes sense why that didnt work well on my taco. James kept bullying me about that! I had a good time walking around and thinking of foods and it is a nice grocery store so it was fun.
We finished up shopping and paid. James forgot his wallet but I had mine. He went and got us quarters for laundry. And I waited and people watched.
As we left I noticed they had those little kid carts and was excited about that and as I was telling James that a kid ran past us and his mom apologized but said he was going for the mini carts. And I was like !! Yes!! I love those!! When I was a kid I remember I think the acme had those and I loved them. And there was a guy who worked there that I remember having blonde hair and was always nice to me and I dont know if I am remembering right but I do love those little carts.
After we dropped off the groceries in the car we ran over to the walgreens so I could get psoriasis shampoo. I also got a scalp exfoliator? I didnt even know that was a thing.
My total was 19.91 and thats the year I was born so I was very excited.
We had one more stop in that area. We walked across the street to the auto shop because my key had a low battery. And the guy was so nice?? He changed it for free and was so kind to me?? I did not expect he to be so nice. What a good guy.
We stopped at the donut shop before we went home and James got a coffee and I got juice and then we were off.
We went home and James unpacked everything and reshuffled the fridge. I decided that I would make soup. Spicy italian sausage with potatoes. And it came out really good. Very spicy.
James went on a bike ride and I played animal crossing. I found a dream island that is based on disney world and it was amazing! I spent almost an hour looking around and seeing all the spaces. I was so impressed with the details and honestly it was one of the best times Ive ever had on a dream island.
James was getting home as I was finishing up on there. And the rest of the afternoon was us just hanging out. Watching videos. I laid down for an hour but I didnt sleep. I hope that it will help me sleep a little better tonight.
I went to sit with James in the living room. And asked if I could paint his toes. And he let me! I gave him Halloween toes. And so we could match I took off some of my black polish in exchange for orange. First time in what. A decade. I haven't had black toenails. I kind of hate it but I like matching with my boyfriend.
We had pizza for dinner and James played a game with his friends. I went down and got the mail and discovered the new fleece I ordered came and I was like vibrating because its so nice!! Its a great brand, a beautiful color, and I had been so worried because I bought it and then realized it was a size small. But it fits me so well and I can zip it with no problem and I am just so thrilled about it.
I spent some time figuring out a good pin for the lapel. I had to fix the pin I chose, a little telephone my brother gave me. But I felt good and happy.
And now I am ready to go wash my face and get ready for bed. I hope tomorrow is more productive but just as happy. I hope you all sleep well tonight. Goodnight everyone!

What Allows Me to Regain a Happy Life? | Eastern Lightning
What Allows Me to Regain a Happy Life? | Eastern Lightning
Xiaoping
This is an age when people care very much about physical attractiveness and a good looking body. With a beautiful face and a slim figure, I turned heads no matter what kind of clothes I wore. People around me often praised me and envied that I had both a great figure and a great face, and my husband was also very kind to me. Because of this, I was especially confident. No matter where I went, I walked with my head held high and my back straight. I displayed myself to receive praise from others. In my heart I believed: As long as a woman has a graceful figure and a pretty face, she could rewrite her own life.
Tumblr media
However, unexpectedly, after having a child, I began to put on weight. Gradually, my husband began to dislike me, and he said I had a chubby stomach and fat legs. Some people also joked sarcastically at me, saying that I even put on weight when I drank water, and that I was so fat that I was out of shape. Listening to these words, I felt especially awful. My face burned as if I was slapped. When I had used to go out, people praised my beauty, but now they all ridiculed me. It was as if I fell from heaven to hell. The drastic contrast seriously damaged my pride, and I felt so painful inside. One time, I went shopping with my husband, and I was buying trousers for him in a department store. Two shop assistants quietly whispered behind me, “This guy is so young and handsome. How is he with this big fat woman?” When I heard their critiques, I was so angry that I threw the pants onto the counter, and then turned and left. I couldn’t stop my tears from flowing. I thought: These days, people only value a good face and a nice figure. If a woman doesn’t have a beautiful face and a slim figure, then there’s no way for her to stand in society. So, I made up my mind: When I stop breastfeeding my child, I’ll try to lose weight. I’ll make those people who laughed at me envious and jealous! Later, a friend of mine said to me, “Look at how chubby you’ve become. So many men have a young mistress these days. If you keep getting fatter and don’t try to lose weight, what will you do if one day your husband becomes unfaithful and finds a mistress?” When I heard things like this, I became more miserable inside, and I felt a strong sense of danger. I thought: When my figure hadn’t changed, my husband obeyed everything I said. After I put on weight, my husband started to dislike me. If things go according to what my friend said, this would be awful. I can’t allow something like this to happen. I felt very anxious. In those days, even in my dreams I dreamed that my husband ran off with some other woman. This made me feel even more that losing weight is of utmost importance. After my child was weaned, I looked for effective short-term ways of losing weight through acquaintances and the Internet. I even consulted experts in weight loss, who said to me, “If you want a slim figure, you have to pay the price. A married woman like you especially needs to look after her weight. You’re still young. It’s too late if you want to lose weight when you’re older. Your figure is your confidence. Only when your figure is better can you grasp your husband’s heart.” The expert was right! Only when a woman has a perfect figure can she have total confidence and restore her image in others’ minds. So, I started to implement my own weight loss plans without hesitation, looking for “secret recipes” for losing weight.
One time, my younger sister said to me that her neighbor took some diet pills and lost around 15 kg in one month. I was really excited after hearing it, and I got my sister to look into it and buy a few boxes for me. My sister said, “Sis, every medicine has its side effect. It will surely do some impact to your body. You have to be careful.” When I heard this, I was a bit worried. I was afraid that maybe it really had some side effects that would damage my body. But then I thought: When my figure was good, my husband and people around me all praised me and were envious. However, after my figure became bad, all that I have encountered is sarcasm, jokes, and humiliation. There’s so much difference between the two. I’ll just throw caution to the winds. I don’t care about whether taking this medicine is dangerous to my body. As long as it could make me slimmer, nothing else is important. So, I started taking weight loss pills. Normally, I should have taken one pill a day, but I increased the dosage to achieve a faster result. Because of the stimulus from the pills, I could only sleep about two to three hours a night. My head felt bloated, my eyes hurt, and my heart began palpitating. I also stopped having proper meals every day, but only ate various fruits and vegetables which can lower fat like cucumbers, tomatoes, and watermelons. I only had some plain noodles twice a month. Since I lacked both nutrition and sleep, I became a bit dazed. But so that I could regain my original slim body after the diet, I felt that this wasn’t much pain to suffer through. Determination would lead to success. After some time, every day, I would try on a nice dress that my friend had given me. In the beginning, I could only pull it over my head, but after a month, I could finally put it on easily. I happily stood in the courtyard admiring myself, but suddenly I saw blackness and collapsed. Seeing this, my husband angrily said to me, “You’re really throwing away your life to be beautiful!” But I ignored his words. No matter what, I slimmed down now. I didn’t suffer in vain this past month. Later, I purposefully wore pretty dresses and went out into the streets. I wanted to let those people who had used to joke about my weight see my slim figure. When my neighbors saw me, sure enough, they were surprised, “Wow! How did you slim down so quickly? Your weight loss is really successful!” Once again, they gazed at me with envy and jealousy. At that time, my husband didn’t say sarcastic things as he did before, and his attitude toward me improved. He even smiled at me and said, “You really do look better when you’re thin!” Listening to these words, my vanity was satisfied once again. My desire to lose weight became even stronger. I got addicted as if I was on drugs, and I couldn’t even have stopped if I wanted to. I still thought that my figure wasn’t perfect enough, so I bought another box of weight loss pills. But I could never have thought that when I slimmed down to the figure I wanted, suffering would follow on.
One morning, when I woke up I found that there were many small red spots on my body, even on my scalp and in my ears. I immediately had my mother accompany me to the hospital for an examination. The doctor said I had psoriasis, a refractory skin disease. It couldn’t be totally cured, but could only be controlled as much as possible through medicine. The reason was because my immunity was lowered and I had no resistance, so that the toxin in my body was unable to be purged and remain in my bloodstream. I had never imagined that, while pursuing a slim figure, I would catch a skin disease that caused anyone who saw me to distance themselves. This price is too high. Later, I had very itchy reddish patches from head to toe. My husband despised me and kept his distance too. Additionally, I didn’t dare to go out and was afraid of being laughed at. I felt exceedingly painful inside, and cried every day. I had tried to lose weight to show off my body, but now, not only could I not show off, but I brought trouble upon myself. Other people could wear short tops and pants, but I had to wrap myself up tightly to hide the patches I had all over my body. I was so regretful, but things being what they were, there was no way to turn back. I could only look everywhere for doctors to cure my skin problems. However, all medicine could only control it for a time, but not cure the cause. What made me even more pained was that weight loss drug induces dependency—since I stopped taking weight loss pills because of my sickness, I quickly got fat again. The ridicule from people and cold-shoulder and dislike from my family made me feel very distressed, and I even had suicidal thoughts. I had always pursued a perfect figure and always wanted to change my own fate through losing weight, but, not only did I not lose weight, I even caught this disease and brought myself great damages. In particular, I saw that some people around me got insomnia, heart diseases or anorexia for losing weight, and some even got stomach cancer and paid for beauty with their lives. All this made me feel lost: What did I do this for? Is it just so that people would praise me? Is it really worth it to damage my body to this extent?
Later, I had the fortune to accept Almighty God’s work of the last days. In a gathering, I fellowshiped about my process of losing weight to the sisters, and one of them read me a passage of Almighty God’s words: “Your temperament, caliber, appearance, stature, family in which you were born, your job and your marriage, the entirety of you, even the color of your hair and your skin, and the time of your birth were all arranged by My hands. Even the things you do and the people you meet every single day are arranged by My hands, not to mention the fact that bringing you into My presence today is actually My arrangement. Do not throw yourself into disorder; you should proceed calmly” (The Word Appears in the Flesh). The sister fellowshiped, “Everything is predestined by God, including the kind of marriage and family we have, what appearance and skin color we have, when we are fat, and when we are thin. It is not something that anyone or anything could change. What God gives us is all the best, it is all meaningful, but we are not able to obey God’s sovereignty and predestination, and we always feel that everything God bestows is not to our will. We always want to pursue perfectness and oppose God’s sovereignty and change all that God has given us. That is why we have self-harmed and brought ourselves so much pain. Look at such and such in my working unit. In pursuit of beauty, she messed up her nerves when undergoing a lip line surgery and now she has a crooked mouth. Some other people, in order to lose weight, went to have liposuction and died on the spot. The reason these people have encountered such disasters is because they do not understand God’s authority and sovereignty. This is the bitter consequence of their vain attempt to change their fate by themselves.”
Through God’s words and the sister’s fellowship, I knew that the kind of marriage, family, appearance, and figure I have are all in God’s hand. God has already arranged it. It is not something that I can change when I want to. However, because I had no understanding of God’s sovereignty, I tried to change my own fate through losing weight. As a result, I spent a lot of money and suffered a lot of hardships, but in the end, not only did I not change my fate, I caught an obstinate skin disease and suffered from it every day…. I am truly too foolish and ignorant! Later, I partook in church life with brothers and sisters, singing hymns in praise of God, fellowshiping about God’s words, and sharing our own respective experiences and witnesses. In my association with them, I saw that those brothers and sisters dress very plainly. They do not pursue physical attractiveness or a good figure. They accept and submit to whatever God has given to them, and they live relaxed and carefree. They help and support each other and treat everyone fairly. They do not deal with somebody differently because of differences in their appearance and figure. This gave me consolation and release. I also realized that I could no longer rely on weight loss to change my own fate. The whole life of every person is in God’s hands, and I must submit to God’s sovereignty and arrangement.
Later, I saw these words of God: “It is like someone saying to you: ‘Your face is shaped wonderfully. Just a little short along the bridge of the nose, but if you have that fixed, you will be a world-class beauty!’ For someone who has never wanted to have cosmetic surgery, would their heart be moved hearing these words? (Yes.) So are these words seductive? Is this seduction tempting to you? Is it testing? (Yes.) Does God say things like this? (No.) Was there any hint of this in God’s words that we looked at just now? (No.) Why? Does God say what He thinks in His heart? Can man see God’s heart through His words? (Yes.) But when the serpent had spoken those words to the woman, were you able to see its heart? (No.) And because of man’s ignorance, they were easily seduced by the serpent’s words, they were easily hooked, easily led. So were you able to see Satan’s intentions? Were you able to see the purpose behind what it said? Were you able to see its plot and its cunning scheme? (No.) What kind of disposition is represented by Satan’s way of speaking? What kind of essence have you seen in Satan through these words? (Evil.) Evil. Is it insidious? Perhaps on the surface it smiles at you or reveals no expression whatsoever. But in its heart it is calculating how to reach its objective, and it is this objective that you are unable to see. You are then seduced by all the promises it gives you, all the advantages it talks about. You see them as good, and you feel that what it says is more useful, more substantial than what God says. When this happens, does man not then become a submissive prisoner? (Yes.) So is this means used by Satan not diabolical? You allow yourself to sink low. Without moving a finger, with these two sentences you are happy to follow along with it, to comply with it. Its objective has been reached. Is this not so? (Yes.) Is this intention not sinister? Is this not Satan’s most primal countenance? (Yes.) From Satan’s words, man can see its sinister motives, see its hideous countenance and see its essence” (“God Himself, the Unique IV” in Continuation of The Word Appears in the Flesh). The revelations in God’s words allowed me to see that the pursuit of a fine physical figure is Satan’s trick. Satan uses some lies and fallacies to deceive me. On the outside, they sound very reasonable and kind, as if it’s for my own good, so that I am unknowingly deceived and controlled by them. For example, “A graceful lady is a gentleman’s desire,” “A woman’s asset is her figure and face,” and “As long as you have a good figure, you’ll get the praise of people around you and the love of your husband, and your life will be more exciting.” All the time, I was fooled by these satanic lies and they led me by the nose. I thought wholeheartedly that only by having a fine figure would I be able to grasp my husband’s heart, and receive the praise and esteem of others. In order to satisfy my vanity, to reach the goals of my own desire, I didn’t even hesitate to use drugs to damage my own body. But in the end, what it brought me were only the torment of sickness and pain that I cannot shake away. Only then did I realize that when people follow the trends of the world and live for the flesh, they are suffering from Satan’s trampling and affliction. At the same time, I also recognized that only God’s word can allow people to understand the truth, see through Satan’s tricks, and rescue people from Satan’s deception and harm. Slowly, I turned away from Satan’s lies and didn’t rely on those weight loss pills and food. I no longer cared about other people’s gazes and their critiques about me, nor did I care about how my husband treated me. Instead, I believed in the destiny God has for me, and I lived by God’s words. I ate regularly every day and normally read God’s word, pursued the truth, and performed my duty as a creature of God. Unwittingly, I recovered, and there were few patches on my body. Thank God! I know that this is all God’s love for me. It is God that has brought me before Him, bestowed the truth upon me, and given me discernment, so that I am no longer tricked by Satan and am able to live under God’s care and protection. My spirit is released and set free, I have a proper goal in life to pursue, and no longer live in so much pain.
Tumblr media
Reviewing the process of my losing weight, it was truly full of difficulties and danger. I almost ended up losing my life. If it wasn’t for God’s care and protection and His salvation, I would still be trapped in this evil current, stubbornly seeking after a perfect figure and being afflicted and trampled by Satan…. It was God’s words that allowed me to understand that all of this was caused by Satan, which used my vanity to confuse, seduce, and cheat me, so that I sank low and was trapped in its snare and unable to escape. Thanks to God’s words that awakened me, I was no longer bothered by my figure, nor did I care how others judged me. Instead, I only pursued the truth, lived by God’s word, and submitted to God’s sovereignty and arrangements, so as to live out the true likeness of man that God demands and receive God’s approval. I felt that living like this was very happy and fulfilling. After a period of time, as my husband saw that my illness was getting better, that my mental outlook was improving, that my attitude toward life became positive and optimistic, and that all the brothers and sisters in the church were good honest people, he didn’t cold-shoulder me for my weight anymore and was nicer to me. I thank God from the bottom of my heart that His words have brought an upturn in my life. Now, my life is full of happiness. I am extremely released and free when living church life and performing my duties with my brothers and sisters. I realize that only by giving myself into God’s hand and submitting to Gods sovereignty and arrangement can I gain the greatest happiness and live the most beautiful life!

Curly Hair Product Line, DevaCurl, Faces Lawsuits For Causing Hair Loss
DevaCurl, a haircare line specifically for curly hair, faces a class-action lawsuit from users who claim the line’s products have caused more hair damage than hair care.
Since many DevaCurl users relied on several different products from the company’s haircare line, some admit that they don’t know precisely which DevaCurl product caused the damage they allege. It may be possible that each product is safe on its own, but that a combination of two or more DevaCurl products can cause the problems claimed in the class action lawsuit.
What is DevaCurl?
DevaCurl has gained a devout following since its debut in 2002. The product line includes many different products and formulations, including waterless and standard shampoos, conditioners, and styling products like mousse and gel.
In 2019, DevaCurl was featured on the TV show “Broad City”, further boosting its popularity among curly-haired users. Some have called the company central to the natural hair movement, which encourages people to embrace and work with their hair’s natural texture.
Claims in the DevaCurl Case
The customers involved in the lawsuit claim that DevaCurl’s products cause hair loss, damage, scalp itchiness and burning, curl relaxation, and dandruff when used over a long period of time.
Several of the class action plaintiffs describe losing significant amounts of hair, even though they were young and otherwise healthy. At least one mentioned that her doctors were baffled by her hair loss, and that it took her some time to connect the hair loss to her choice of hair products. Another described “red lesions and psoriasis” in an interview with NBC News, stating that the bumps on her scalp cause her physical pain. She also noted that her dandruff became so bad while using DevaCurl that she had to avoid wearing black clothing.
Litigation Filed in the DevaCurl Case
Deva Concepts, LLC currently faces at least three proposed class action lawsuits. To date, class actions have been filed in New York, California, and Florida.
To date, all of the class action lawsuits make the same basic allegations: That despite Deva Concepts’ promises that its “No-Poo” and “Low-Poo” hair cleansers, conditioners and other products were beneficial for hair, in fact they are far more dangerous than stated. The lawsuits also claim that Deva Concepts failed to disclose these dangers and, when informed of them, intentionally blamed other factors for users’ hair and scalp damage.
In addition to the class action lawsuit, complaints have been filed with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding DevaCurl.
While the FDA hasn’t commented on its investigation plans, an agency investigation of DevaCurl would be consistent with other steps the FDA has taken in response to hair care complaints in the past. For instance, in 2016, the FDA announced an investigation into WEN by Chaz Dean Cleansing Conditioner products, after the agency received almost 2,000 complaints of symptoms similar to those reported by DevaCurl users. WEN settled a class action lawsuit for about $26 million.
What Experts May Be Asked to Testify?
DevaCurl has declined to comment on pending litigation. However, the company recently released a statement announcing that it would work with independent parties to conduct additional testing of its products.
A class action lawsuit is likely to focus heavily on whether one or more DevaCare products, alone or in combination, caused the symptoms that plaintiffs mention in their filing. As a result, experts like chemical engineers, who can testify to the effects various DevaCare product ingredients might have, will almost certainly make an appearance if these cases go to trial.
In addition, experts in cosmetology, dermatology, and hair care may also be asked to testify, particularly when it comes to discussing damages. For instance, a dermatologist may be asked to opine on the extent of the damage that presents as lesions, dandruff and other skin-related symptoms. A hair care expert may weigh in on the costs of rehabilitating damaged hair and the options available to those who say DevaCare products caused their own hair to fall out.

How To Take Care Of Your Hair In Winter
Winter is a mess if you don’t take care of your hair. The scalp gets wacky, dandruff is capturing the surface like snowflakes, and the whole scene summons a hairy monster from a horror movie. Having a bad hair day? Contact dermatologist hair care near you. Experienced trichologists from such a clinic treat a full spectrum of diseases of the hair and common problems. The professionals keep up to date on the latest treatment options for patients with complicated problems.
Tumblr media
While you enjoy a warm bowl of soup on a gentle weather day, you don’t want the dry atmosphere to ruin your hair. Unless you tidy up your hair with a hair care solution, you might end up dragging yourself into the soup. Here are some practical tips to keep your hair and scalp healthy during winter.
Reduce Shampooing A dry scalp can cause several unpleasant things such as dandruff, skin flakes, itch, and fluffy. These conditions are frustrating when they interrupt your normal activities. For instance, you don’t want to show off your dandruff problem when you wear a beautiful black dress. Those little white flakes can ruin your whole day. To reduce the dryness on the scalp, use a lesser quantity of shampoo when washing your hair.
Nourish Your Scalp Apply essential oils to nourish the hair follicles. Some examples of natural extract oils are olive, lavender, peppermint, lemongrass, cedarwood, tea tree, clary sage or thyme. Use your hands to slowly massage the oil on your scalp and then deep into the roots of your hair. Coat the hair with the oil and keep it on overnight. Wash off with a mild shampoo next morning. Routine nourishment will  improve blood circulation and reduce hair fall.
Dry Your Hair As soon as you finished washing your hair, you might start to dress up for the work. Exposing the wet hair to cold weather will cause freezing, which is a factor of brittle hair. To avoid the risk of hair breakage, blow-dry your hair before going outside. You can also let it naturally dry while reading your favorite book.
No Hot Water You like it hot when you touch everything in winter. Eating hot food is good but hot water is too bad for your hair. Hot water can take away moisture from your hair and leave your scalp dehydrated. This is why you must use cold or warm water to seals the moisture in the hair and avoid damage.
To keep your hair glowing and flawless, talk to a hair care dermatologist and get healthy tips. It is also a good idea to eat a proper diet for hair care solutions in winter. Some of the affordable dieting habits you can eat:
A bowl of oatmeal in the morning
A spoonful of almond butter
Carrot juice for hair growth
Cinnamon to improve circulation
To learn more about healthy tips, consult a trichologist who specializes in all types of medical and surgical dermatology.

There are a few things that I’ve come to rely on Amazon...
Tumblr media
There are a few things that I’ve come to rely on Amazon for—books (along with an intense feeling of immediate guilt that I should have purchased directly from a bookshop instead), emergency gifts for basically everyone before Christmas and weird household things like light bulbs and batteries that I always  forget to buy when I’m at the supermarket. Beauty products? Never.
While I might be something of a beauty purist—preferring to shop for my cosmetics IRL where I can swatch and smell or via knowledgable beauty web spaces, there’s no doubt that the popularity of Amazon in the beauty and cosmetics arena is ever-growing. In fact, in the U.S., Amazon is the fifth most popular destination for beauty purchases.
Putting the best-selling Biore pore strips to the test. Just one whiff of this product was enough to transport me back to the year 2001 when my 12-year-old self was suffering with a particularly nasty bout of dandruff. (Not what you want when your school uniform is a black blazer.) These days, my scalp is mainly flake-free—although I do experience bouts of psoriasis during particularly stressful periods. While I wouldn’t reach for this coal tar shampoo when my scalp is feeling healthy, it will definitely be a welcome staple in my bathroom cabinet for those times when my scalp feels itchy and uncomfortable. It genuinely does a great job at ridding your head of flakes and irritation and, if you can get past the strong smell, leaves your hair pretty shiny too.  If I had to pick just one product off of the Amazon beauty best sellers list to recommend, it would be this Nip + Fab exfoliator. Infused with 3% glycolic acid and a dose of salicylic acid, it does an incredible job of brightening the skin, minimizing the look of pores, and generally leaving your complexion looking better than it did before. While I wouldn’t describe it as harsh, it definitely has a gritty texture, which is probably why it does such a great job of scrubbing away dirt and impurities. However, I used it on a day when I had a few active breakouts and didn’t find it irritating in the slightest. I used this in the evening after my usual cleanser and found that my makeup glided on incredibly smoothly the next day. Just remember to use an SPF if you’re using this product, as the glycolic acid can leave your skin particularly sensitive to the sun. During my teenage years, I exclusively used Maybelline mascaras (its Colossal formula in the distinctive yellow tube was my jam), but it’s been almost a decade since I last reached for one. The Lash Sensational formula claims to provide a layered lash look with a brush that captures even the tiniest of lashes—ideal for someone with short, curly lashes like myself. This mascara has a curved, plastic-bristled wand which I feel did a great job at gripping onto my lashes and coating them with product. Although I wouldn’t say that it’s the most volumizing mascara that I’ve ever used, I really liked how it created a fluttery, fanned-out lash. For me, this is a great daytime mascara or one to reach for when I’m wearing a bold eye shadow color but don’t want to look too overdone. Personally, though, there are other mascaras that I would reach for if I was looking for a bolder finish. Fluttery lashes courtesy of Maybelline. Experimental taste in eye shadow is my own. My guilty beauty secret is that I absolutely adore pore strips. As a beauty editor I know that any pore unclogging or skin exfoliation should be conducted via a carefully curated routine of muslin cloths, chemical exfoliators, and regular facials—but who can deny the innate satisfaction that comes with peeling off a pore strip and examining the results? When it comes to pore strips, Biore really is the best, so I was overjoyed that these witch hazel and tea tree oil ones were on the Amazon best sellers list. I applied one on a Sunday night after cleansing my face and sat back in front of the TV for 10 minutes while it did its thing. Once it had set hard, I peeled it off—slowly, slowly—and was genuinely gleeful to see the gory results. These things definitely work when it comes to removing the gunk that sits in your pores, but the downside is that it’s only too easy for your now-open pores to quickly get clogged again. I always use a salicylic acid or toner afterward to keep the area as clean as possible, but they’re definitely the kind of product that you need to use regularly for long-term results. (Not that I mind, of course.) Despite having a major love affair with lip balms, I’m ashamed to say that I’d never actually tried this classic beeswax formula from Burt’s Bees. Its tinted lip balms and lip shimmers have all worked their way in and out of various handbags of mine over the years, but this was my first dabble with the no-frills best seller. Of course it delivered. A nourishing blend of beeswax, vitamin E, and cooling peppermint gave this 100% natural balm a refreshing feel when applied to lips and a healthy dose of hydration. For around the cost of your morning coffee, you really can’t go wrong. I would definitely repurchase were I not incredibly fickle when it comes to always trying the latest lip balm launch on the market.  When I say I tested this Aveeno body lotion, what I really mean is that I took it home, used it once and then my husband claimed the rest of the bottle for himself. In some ways, that tells you a great deal about the versatility of this gentle formula. Incredibly gentle, it uses finely milled oats and their natural emollients to care for skin—and it’s particularly great if you’re particularly dry. I’m an avid body lotion user, so my skin is generally pretty good in the hydration stakes. However, this is a great fuss-free lotion if you’re looking for a basic formula with a gentle scent that won’t interfere with your perfume. My husband, however, suffers from eczema and dry patches and was really impressed with the way this lotion left his skin feeling soft and healthy-looking in just a few days.  I’m incredibly loyal to my Beautyblender. (For those of you that don’t know, it’s an iconic bright pink egg-shaped makeup sponge that makeup artists, celebs, and beauty editors swear by for foolproof foundation application.) However, a lot of friends that work in the industry also love these complexion sponges from Real Techniques, so I put my beauty snobbery aside and gave them a go. These are lot firmer in texture than the Beautyblender, but I have to say they really did a great job of seamlessly applying my foundation—although I definitely don’t feel they meshed the product with my skin in as natural a way as my usual makeup sponge. However, if you’re looking for a purse-friendly alternative (these are half the price for double the amount of sponges), I would definitely recommend them. My brows are unruly at the best of times, so I was a little scared at the thought of using a product promising a 108% improvement in the appearance of eyebrow density. It’s packed with keratin, sweet almond extract, and polypeptides and promises to transform thin, sparse, and uneven brows in 60 days. I’m genuinely surprised to say that I loved this product. Although my brow hairs are long and grow quickly, I do have some sparse patches left from that regretful teenage period of over-grooming them. However, after just a week of using this product I’ve noticed that my brows are starting to look subtly fuller and are in much better condition overall. Even if you don’t need help in the growth department, this serum leaves your brows soft and glossy—and I’ve found that I’ve needed to use less of my beloved Benefit Gimme Brow since I’ve started using it. A definite keeper. Much of the Amazon beauty best seller list is something of a trip down memory lane for me—case in point, this Rimmel London powder. Who didn’t have one of these tucked in their pencil case? This powder came out regularly throughout the school day to combat the unwanted shine caused by my raging teenage hormones and the unwieldy line for the snack shop at break.  All these years later and this powder still stands up to some of the best of them. Okay, it might not be as finely milled as some of the higher-end formulas, but it still does a damn fine job of keeping shine at bay. I love a gel manicure. Find the right place, and a good one can last up to three weeks on my nails. As someone who always—without fail—smudges their nails within moments of painting them at home, a gel mani saves me from infinite amounts of first-world stress. When it comes to removing them, however, I’ve been known to forgo salon removal in favor of scraping them off myself and damaging my nails in the process. This acetone has hundreds of four- and five-star reviews on Amazon with people claiming its “better than the salon” and “it removes gel and glitter effortlessly” and, I can confirm, they are indeed correct. Okay, you still need to do the tin foil trick—soak a cotton pad in acetone, press it onto your nail then wrap your fingertips in kitchen foil for 10 minutes while it soaks in—but my gel polish glided off afterward with only a little coaxing needed on a few stubborn spots of polish. My nails are I are very happy.

There are a few things that I've come to rely on Amazon for—books (along with an intense feeling of immediate guilt that I should have purchased directly from a bookshop instead), emergency gifts for basically everyone before Christmas and weird household things like light bulbs and batteries that I always  forget to buy when I'm at the supermarket. Beauty products? Never. While I might be something of a beauty purist—preferring to shop for my cosmetics IRL where I can swatch and smell or via knowledgable beauty web spaces, there's no doubt that the popularity of Amazon in the beauty and cosmetics arena is ever-growing. While I wouldn't reach for this coal tar shampoo when my scalp is feeling healthy, it will definitely be a welcome staple in my bathroom cabinet for those times when my scalp feels itchy and uncomfortable. While I wouldn't describe it as harsh, it definitely has a gritty texture, which is probably why it does such a great job of scrubbing away dirt and impurities. However, I used it on a day when I had a few active breakouts and didn't find it irritating in the slightest. I used this in the evening after my usual cleanser and found that my makeup glided on incredibly smoothly the next day. Just remember to use an SPF if you're using this product, as the glycolic acid can leave your skin particularly sensitive to the sun. During my teenage years, I exclusively used Maybelline mascaras (its Colossal formula in the distinctive yellow tube was my jam), but it's been almost a decade since I last reached for one. Although I wouldn't say that it's the most volumizing mascara that I've ever used, I really liked how it created a fluttery, fanned-out lash. For me, this is a great daytime mascara or one to reach for when I'm wearing a bold eye shadow color but don't want to look too overdone. These things definitely work when it comes to removing the gunk that sits in your pores, but the downside is that it's only too easy for your now-open pores to quickly get clogged again. I always use a salicylic acid or toner afterward to keep the area as clean as possible, but they're definitely the kind of product that you need to use regularly for long-term results. (Not that I mind, of course.) Despite having a major love affair with lip balms, I'm ashamed to say that I'd never actually tried this classic beeswax formula from Burt's Bees. For around the cost of your morning coffee, you really can't go wrong. Incredibly gentle, it uses finely milled oats and their natural emollients to care for skin—and it's particularly great if you're particularly dry. I'm an avid body lotion user, so my skin is generally pretty good in the hydration stakes. However, this is a great fuss-free lotion if you're looking for a basic formula with a gentle scent that won't interfere with your perfume. My husband, however, suffers from eczema and dry patches and was really impressed with the way this lotion left his skin feeling soft and healthy-looking in just a few days.  I'm incredibly loyal to my Beautyblender. (For those of you that don't know, it's an iconic bright pink egg-shaped makeup sponge that makeup artists, celebs, and beauty editors swear by for foolproof foundation application.) However, a lot of friends that work in the industry also love these complexion sponges from Real Techniques, so I put my beauty snobbery aside and gave them a go. These are lot firmer in texture than the Beautyblender, but I have to say they really did a great job of seamlessly applying my foundation—although I definitely don't feel they meshed the product with my skin in as natural a way as my usual makeup sponge. However, if you're looking for a purse-friendly alternative (these are half the price for double the amount of sponges), I would definitely recommend them. My brows are unruly at the best of times, so I was a little scared at the thought of using a product promising a 108% improvement in the appearance of eyebrow density. It's packed with keratin, sweet almond extract, and polypeptides and promises to transform thin, sparse, and uneven brows in 60 days. What Allows Me to Regain a Happy Life?

This is an age when people care very much about physical attractiveness and a good looking body. With a beautiful face and a slim figure, I turned heads no matter what kind of clothes I wore. People around me often praised me and envied that I had both a great figure and a great face, and my husband was also very kind to me. Because of this, I was especially confident. No matter where I went, I walked with my head held high and my back straight. I displayed myself to receive praise from others. In my heart I believed: As long as a woman has a graceful figure and a pretty face, she could rewrite her own life.
I realize that only by giving myself into God’s hand and submitting to God’s sovereignty and arrangement can I gain the greatest happiness and live the most beautiful life!

TMI: Oversharing
((Trigger warning: mentions of self harm, r@pe, abuse, drugs, alcohol, suicide, body dysmorphia, mental illness, ...um, a lot, actually, so please please think about this before reading ahead. My life's a mess tbh. Will put an * (or many, if bad bad) by the numbers of anything with potentially bad triggers just in case..)) Credit to one of my mutuals, after reading their oversharing post, I felt like writing my own might actually be cathartic for me, so thank you mutual (no name callout because they may not be comfortable with that). 1. I actually have zero idea about who I am when I'm on my own. I've felt this way for years and only recently has it been recognized/taken seriously. 2. My father and three siblings are all on the autism spectrum in varying degrees. The question hangs if I am too, I show similar signs, but I don't care enough to find out. 3. I cycle through obsessive behaviors. Collecting things, couponing, certain games; luckily it has never landed on an unhealthy addiction so far, but it scares me that it might. 4*. I have been self destructive for 7+ years. (For clarification, I'm 21 going on 22 currently.) My arm is white lines and long story short, I cannot wear shorts above my knees anytime soon, or anything less than a one-piece bathing suit to cover my torso. 5*. My arms are healed because I was relentlessly picked on by an abusive ex and my own father when I wore it on my sleeves, so to speak.. I hide it now. My dad still doesn't know I started doing it again and I plan on keeping it that way. 6****. Callout to my ex I mentioned above. Because of him, I get ptsd episodes if I'm under the water even a second too long, forbid I'm being held down even playfully. He took whatever he wanted, including my current peace of mind in relationships. I've been trying to escape the damage he caused for 5 years. 7****. Callout to friends/another ex I trusted that would not take no for an answer, especially the one that took me as I cried for him to stop. 8*. By all normative standards, I'm wickedly smart. I had the military branches beating down my door from my perfect aptitude test scores (no studying, mind you, I wing tests), and if not for mental issues stealing my motivation to try, I could've been in my top ten graduating from high school easily. However..no one wants to take a damaged "genius" so..yeah. 9. I have so so so many ideas of what I want to do with my life, but I'm viciously afraid of stepping foot outside of my not-so-comfy-but-good-enough bubble. 10*. I am professionally diagnosed with major depressive disorder, general anxiety disorder, and dependent personality disorder. That list may grow when I actually trust the psychiatrist enough to tell them Everything™. 11. If I don't push myself to hang out with my friends/favorite people, and it has to be because THEY want ME, I will quite literally spend all day in my bed during my time off. Even finding the motivation to clean my room and pay my bills (spoiler, I usually don't) is just..improbable. 12*. I have two, count them one-two, people that are even close to knowing Everything™ about me. (Unfortunate spoiler: they've both done things that they sometimes use against each other to make me question my faith in them.) I love them both, which causes me immense guilt because they both want to keep me Forever™ (also know to me as until they get tired of my..Me-ness.) and right now I'm just wondering how long of Forever™ I'll actually be alive for. 13. Speaking of immense guilt, hi, it's because I've hurt mentioned people both more than they admit to. I didn't mean to I'm sorry I really didn't just I just how do you not depend on someone that you were engaged to but also how do you not depend on someone that actually gets you and is your carer and you actually get along with everyone in their system and ahhhh fjdjfhdjrbd I'm sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry.. 14. Sorry, sorry.. I'm back. Kinda? Anyway.. I feel like a split person, kinda. I have different aspects of myself that handle different things and I have names for them, but I would NOT call myself a system at this point, I would just say I am compartmentalizing and personifying certain aspects of my personality. It just feels easier, yeah? I try to stick to the ones people love best (Mama(carer)-me, Lily(regressed)-me, and Belle(work)-me). My carer is the only person "acquainted" with all of Me™ by name. 15. I only always get along with one person in my house, which is my little sister, Hannah. She has a degenerative disorder and has her own special way of communicating. But as far as I can tell, I'm one of her favorite people, and that makes me super happy actually. 16. So I got derailed on number 13 because that's such a touchy subject. Mostly because I'm forced to choose between the two of them because of societal norms/their feelings/some other reasons here, and in my head and heart I'm so dependent on them both it hurts. (Lately, however, I've been more dependent on my carer.) 17****. Possible reasons I shouldn't be dependent on ex-fiancé person: Has hit me in a "black-out rage" previously (isolated, non-recurring, however I have my days of questioning would I trigger that again..), can be incredibly argumentative if my word choice is incorrect expressing my issues (bad to the point it has triggered me to self-harm), and has forced my indecisive self into making a decision in the midst of a six-hour crying/panicked episode. Also can be neglectful as a person to depend on at times, a little more self-centered than he realizes most of the time, etc. 18****. Possible reasons I shouldn't be dependent on my carer person: Lack of respect towards a previous relationship with ex-fiancé ((as in..well.. some unloyal behavior happened while I was drunk/high/sometimes sober and it actually makes me sick that I let that happen.. I disrespected my own relationship oh god I'm horrible I never wanted to be that person I didn't mean to I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry..)(okay, okay, calmed down..)), one of his alters is notoriously angry/violent however has recently been more gentle with me after some talks about the fact that anger/arguments/violence/yelling trigger my anxiety badly (I'm a sensitive marshmallow puff y'all, sorry..), I WILL NOT HOLD HIS PAST AGAINST HIM but it sometimes gets in my head a little so I try to talk it out when it does, he does have a bit of dependence on Mary Jane (think green, not a lady) but I don't mind this so much because it's better than alcohol (I helped with that! I helped! Yay!), and there are some times when he doesn't word things well and it'll get to me but I don't see this being intentional honestly. 19*. My past trauma makes me hypersexual, and sometimes I'm incredibly disgusted with myself for being that way. Thankfully though, my regressed self is "too small" for those things and my carer does not fetishize my regressed self, so thankful for that. It is that that caused my initial confusion because I didn't understand that some communities were fetish.. ugh.. 20****. In the past year I have cycled through drinking, smoking, and pills as a short-term "dependence" (I put that in quotes because I feel as if it had been serious I would not have been able to step away so easily). Each one I have quit (drinking is social, and never anywhere near as heavy as it used to be). I occasionally smoke Mary Jane now as it is more effective than my Prozac I'm currently prescribed (will get changed soon, I hope). 21. Physically I have some liver/kidney damage (my fault), scalp psoriasis, chronic acid reflux, chronic pain (fibromyalgia), anemia, cold and hot sensitivity, spleen damage (I'm Epstein-Barr sensitive, aka unfortunately susceptible to mono), and something I don't have a name for that makes me get incredibly weak if I don't have a steady intake of sugar during the day.. (any ideas?) 22. I have a SEVERE phobia of vomit. I can handle the word, stories are iffy, but seeing/smelling/hearing it will trigger a panic attack and when i do it (which is thankfully only once every few years so far) it is incredibly painful and I will NOT eat for days. I will be absolutely food repulsed. I doubt anyone would post anything visual, but if you do and you're reading this, PLEASE I'm begging you, post a warning for me. I'll be eternally thankful. 23. Something lighthearted for once: I will not see a superhero/comic book/Nerdy™ movie that I can't go see without my dad. It's just super important to me. 24****. I hate my appearance while simultaneously being incredibly vain about it (do I make sense? No? Ok). I have dysmorphia, because I swear by a few things (I'm always too big, my skin is always bad, etc etc.) If it were not for my conditions (phobia of vomit, not being able to function without sugar), I'd most likely have an eating disorder. Instead I am in a state of limbo where I hate my body but I won't do anything negative to impact my body image. (Yay?) 25. You now know more about me than most people I know in real life, including my parents and family. Sorry it's so much, thanks for sticking around.

Submission - Insecurities are killing me
1. i’m balding. i cant even get balding hair treatment because i was born with these bald patches. so its natural. i can never wear my hair down i look like a cancer patient (not exaggerating)
2. i have small breasts
3. i have  massive black bags under my eyes (born with them)
4. im in my teens and my skin looks like that of a 40 yr old. wrinkles!!
5. scars all over my face from freckles & acne
6.i have weird red dots all over my thighs
7. i have a big nose
8. i dont have eyebrows
9. i dont have lips.
Honestly i feel so ‘less than’. everything a woman should have, i dont. I feel like (if there is a god) I just wasn’t worth anyone’s time to be made 'properly’ but overall my biggest insecurity is my hair. the rest i can get over and deal with everyone has insecurities but my hair is killing me. i literally want to rip it all out now. its hard to even hide the baldness by tying my hair up!! i feel so worthless. i get jealous when i see girls with hair and styling it. my hair is so thin and balding i cant wear extensions because you can see my scalp so you can definitely see the clips. there are hair wigs i could invest in but they charge like $500 and you have to get a new one every 3 months. thats too expensive im a student at uni and no job (i cant find employment but ive applied for over 200) help :( I always find myself comparing myself to others men and women. even if they look less attractive than me i think 'well, at least they have hair.’ i’d give anything to have hair. its not even feeling less of a woman i feel less young too! I’ve never been one to try and fit into society. i dont want hair to look like others i just want hair to feel like ME to feel like a woman to feel like a normal human teenage being. i dont even want to imagine how bald id be as i age
for purposes of privacy, i will insert a false name. Nicki Sims
please do not post my email. thank you lovelies xx
Hey Nicki,
Life is hard. Life is unfair. It sucks. I don’t think it’s fair that you have to go through all of this, but like many other things, we can’t help what we’re born with. Some people are born with many things others want like beauty or money while others are born lacking the basic parts like a leg, hair, or boobs. Whatever it is, I think it’s our purpose in life to find beauty in it. I think it’s important that we can beauty in ourselves despite our shortcomings. Whether we’re tall, short, pretty, rick, poor, we should find the beauty that only we can possess. I’m not saying it’s easy but it’s important to not give up on yourself.
First, your balding problem. It’s hereditary, right? Have you tried other solutions for hair growth? There are people with balding problems. What you have is definitely not uncommon. It may not be seen as often but ti’s not something that doesn’t happen. I would highly recommend talking to a doctor about it. Have you tried medicine that promotes hair health and such? Tried different natural remedies for hair growth? It may not give you thick hair like people with natural hair but it can nurture the hair follicles and help the hair grow.
Second, breasts are fine. Small breasts or large breasts, you’re a woman no matter what. If someone tells you you’re not a woman because you lack breasts, tell them to suck your big toe. You define what makes you feminine. Your breasts may not be small. It may be AA cup but that doesn’t make you less of a woman. When you get pregnant, they’ll become bigger. If not, then so be it. There are thousands of women who don’t have large breasts. Even those with them aren’t satisfied with them. You can still wear cute dresses and be a female without breasts.
Is there any reason why your skin is bad? Do you have a good skin care routine? People think that if their skin isn’t naturally beauty then they’re destined to have bad skin. However, that’s not always the case. There are people with skin diseases and they can’t help their situation. But there are different treatments you can give your skin to help them look more bright and young. Do you massage your face often? Do you use sunscreen protection when you go out? Do you wash it often? Do you treat it with moisturises and other beauty products? I used to have really bad acne and I still have scars on my face but I treat my face really well. I never forget to wash it. Remove makeup before bedtime. I try to not wear too much product. Whenever I buy makeup products, I make sure that it’s light and breathable on the skin. I make sure to use primer and moisturise after use every time. Rehydrating your skin is the #1 key to having young looking healthy skin. I high recommend looking into this. It’s not impossible to salvage your skin from scars.
Is it really that weird? Sure you don’t have perfectly smooth thighs like those on the shaving commercials, but is it really that weird? Do you think you’re the only one with them? You’re probably not. Are these red dots a side effect of something? Like psoriasis or eczema? Maybe it’s a skin condition that you can’t help. I have keratosis on my arms. It’s been there for 10 years and there’s nothing I can do to make it go away. It’s supposed to fade on its own but it’s been 10 years. Does that make me unbeautiful? I don’t think so. If you have these weird dots, try to find the cause for it. If it’s something that you can’t help, realise that it’s a natural occurrence on your body like beauty marks or birth marks. Talk to a doctor about them and see if it’s caused by hormonal imbalance or a reaction to certain things.
Jewish people often have big noses. It’s not uncommon and definitely not an ugly thing. I have a huge crush on a man with a big nose. His nose could be an island and I still think he’s a wonderful man.
I hope you’re seeing what I'm doing here. I want you to try and normalise these things about you. They’re not giant signs on your face or body that screams “I’m unattractive.” They’re a part of you and they’re what make you you. Sure, they don’t fit into the norm’s understanding of b beauty but they don’t make you a monster for it. The more you focus on how ugly these traits are, the more you become convinced of it and the less likely you are to make them work for you. I think if you have a flaw, you should make it work for you rather than trying to hide it. You have a big nose? Use it to make it a memorable thing about you. There are people with small eyes. There are people with big eyes. These things make them unique and easy to remember.
Makeup is definitely not a bad thing either. Draw yourself some eyebrows. Draw yourself some lips. Make it work for you. I believe makeup is invented for women to feel more comfortable with themselves. They can enhance their natural beauty or present themselves in a different light. If they have a pointed face, they can create a more welcoming look for themselves, etc. It’s not a mask, per se. It’s a different medium that allows the person to feel more like themselves the way music does for us. So don’t be afraid to use makeup if you want to.
All of these are basic remedies for your physical problem. I think it might be worth a shot. While you’re doing that, try to better your self confidence. So you don’t have Miss Universe’s beauty. What do you have that others don’t? Maybe you walk better than most people. Maybe you sing better. Maybe you dance better. Maybe you’re nicer than most people. Maybe you’re more perceptive. There’s something about you that’s better than others and it’s not always a physical appearance. Look at those traits. Things that you’re good at. Things that you like. Enjoy those things and remind yourself that you don’t have to look like a model to be a likeable beautiful person.
It’ll take time and it’ll be hard process, but self love is always worth it. I promise you that.
Always by your side,
Kelly

How to get rid of dandruff fast
How to Get Rid of Dandruff
Regardless of the season, a flaky scalp can be a pesky problem. How do you get rid of dandruff? Below, some tips and tricks for how to address your head case — so that you can finally start wearing black again.
Dr. Jessica Weiser of New York Dermatology Group explains that dandruff, which presents itself as white flakes, is a mild and common form of seborrheic dermatitis. You can get it behind the ears, eyebrows, or even in folds of the face. It can be red, flaky, itchy, or a combination of all those factors. (It’s different from psoriasis, which also can look like flakes — but those will appear like “thicker pink or red plaques” with “silver-white scales” on close examination. Go to a dermatologist if you aren’t sure.)
Much like olive-oil bread, dandruff is created by the mixture of oil and yeast. We all have some yeast on our bodies, explains Dr. Joshua Zeichner, director of cosmetic and clinical research at Mount Sinai Hospital’s Department of Dermatology, and the amount varies depending on a blend of genetics and external and internal factors. “Yeast levels rise when there is more oil on skin.”
So how do you get rid of it? You treat the oil and the yeast. Read on.
1. Change Your Diet
According to Dr. Macrene Alexiades-Armenakas, a New York–based dermatologist, poor nutrition can lead to dandruff. “High-carb foods can result in the buildup of glycogen in the skin, which yeast feeds on.” Dr. Zeichner agrees: “Although there’s little data, the same foods that promote acne may exacerbate dandruff.” Sugary foods and dairy stimulate the sebaceous glands, which produce more oil on the skin. So unfortunately, you might need to try laying off the carbs and sugars if you’re prone to dandruff.
2. Start Washing Your Hair More Often
We live in the peak age of dry shampoo, when you can extend your blowout longer than the life of your last succulent. This is partially contributing to the whiteout situation on your scalp. “There’s this concept now that you need to let natural oils sit longer on your scalp, but that can add to the problem,” Elizabeth Cunnane-Phillips, a trichologist at the Philip Kingsley Trichological Clinic, explains. Dr. Weiser adds, “Oils and dead skin cells further accumulate as a result of infrequent hair washing. Patients prone to dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis should regularly wash hair a few times a week at minimum to reduce build up.”
3. Try Exfoliating Your Scalp
Yes, this is a thing. Much like exfoliating your skin, exfoliating your scalp gently lifts the top layer of dry skin. Scalp exfoliators typically remove dead skin with either small amounts of salicylic acid (more commonly found in acne products), or granules that dissolve. Dr. Weiser explains that the latter are “very helpful at breaking down the dead skin cells that accumulate on the scalp and lead to flaking.”
4. Or Try a Hot-Oil Mask
“Oil-based treatments can help to balance some of the scalp’s excessive oil production,” says Dr. Weiser. “Applying oils to the scalp will help draw oils from it and remove them. It’s the classic law of attraction, where like substances attract each other.” You can try heating up the only oil celebrities are unafraid of, coconut oil, in a microwave and gently applying it to your head. Be careful not to make the oil too hot, as doing so increases the risk of burning your scalp.
5. Use Apple-Cider Vinegar Sparingly
Dr. Internet suggests using apple-cider vinegar as a home remedy for many things and a base for many products, among them a toner, a hot-water salve, and a treatment for dandruff. Dermatologists are a bit divided on this. Dr. Zeichner says it could potentially help: “Apple-cider vinegar has anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties to lower levels of yeast on the skin and calm inflammation.” But Dr. Weiser simply says, “I do not generally support the use of apple-cider vinegar for dandruff,” as there are more effective remedies available. Don’t go overboard with making your hair smell like salad dressing.
6. Do Use a Special Shampoo
Special dandruff shampoos containing zinc or sulfur can reduce yeast populations and offer help. Gone are the days of smelly Selsun Blue. They haven’t become chic, but their smell and packaging no longer make them repellent.
Here are some of the best dandruff shampoos. If you have simple dryness and flaking, Dr. Weiser says that shampoos with salicylic acid should be enough. If you have redness and irritation, try the ones with zinc pyrithione (the same stuff in Head and Shoulders), ketoconazole and selenium sulfide. Tea tree helps with inflammation.
7. Wash Your Scalp Only
Unfortunately, dandruff shampoos can dry out your hair, in addition to your scalp. To ensure this doesn’t happen, Dr. Weiser says that you should apply your special shampoo only to the scalp. “These shampoos and treatments should be applied directly to the scalp (not the hair) and massaged gently in place for at least five minutes with each application.” Make sure you don’t do it for less than five minutes, to give the active ingredients time to work.
8. Don’t Scratch
It’s the white bear problem, but try not to think about scratching. It’s so itchy, I know, but scratching can exacerbate inflammation and irritation. Particularly if you have long, sharp nails, scratching can cause open scalp wounds which lead to infections. Dr. Weiser suggests doing a gentle massage only, saying that it “allows ingredients to penetrate the scalp.”
9. While You’re Waiting for These Steps to Work, Hide the Evidence
Try a ponytail or updo. Nathaniel Hawkins, a celebrity hairstylist for Adele and Heather Graham, also adds, “Resist the urge to itch. When your hair is down and has freedom of movement, the flakes will fall.”
10. Try These Products
CHRISTOPHE ROBIN C
leansing Purifying Scrub With Sea Salt
It’s a scalp scrub and a shampoo, formulated by Catherine Deneuve’s colorist of 18 years, Christophe Robin. It contains sea-salt granules that exfoliate the scalp, then dissolve, meaning they won’t get stuck in the hair or dry it out. Plus, it has a pretty, sort of salty lemon smell.
