[I.D: a drawing of Adam and Lawrence from the end of Saw (2004). They are rendered in thin sketchy black ink lines, foreheads pressed together, blotted with ink and paint smudges. Adam is clutching Lawrence's shirt, his eyes are shut and his face is screwed up in tears. Lawrence is looking up at him, a hand under Adam's chin. Their arms, hands and shirts are red with wateroclour bloodstains. Scrawled over the drawing are lyrics from To Kill a King's song Bloody Shirt, reading: oh you lie next to me, heart is beating heavily, blood in your ear through blood on your shirt, it's too late to say you're sorry, say you're sorry still, i stepped out with heavy heart to bail you out again, oh those things you do, oh those things you do. Get out, get out, this town is gonna eat you! Drawing is dated 15/08/23]

Faun in the Crescent Moon

'Draw this in your Style' made its comeback and I did another handful of them over on Instagram. This one comes courtesy of a design by https://www.instagram.com/amandajtoner/ Can you believe that I've never drawn a faun before? How crazy is that? I draw things from mythology ALL the time, but just seem to have completely missed these lovely ladies entirely. I had a lot of fun with this piece. I changed the pose up a bit, turned her tattoo into jewelry... actually I went a little jewelry crazy. It was a great colour pallette to work with too. Tim Burton Experimenting

I did another interpretation of a centaur in Tim Burton's style

For this piece, I was inspired by a multitude of Burton’s artwork and techniques, for example, I was inspired for the red in the hair by the fact that if not greyscale, Burton would add a hint of red to the piece. I also splatted the paint brush on the hair like he did on the top left image for some interesting visuals. I added the very skinny legs from his other horse drawings and even a simple wooded background using wateroclour.

How did it turn out?: This is probably one of my favorite additions to the experimenting so far, it has a lot more depth and visuals compared to the other two and I would like to keep that throughout the project.

How can I make it better?: I wish the scale of the background was a lot larger, making the character being engulfed by the forest. I also wish that I put white-out on the places I did not want effected by the watercolor such as the white areas of the character’s eyes, as they look unintentionally bloodshot with the splatter of red meant for the hair.

Whats the next step?: The next step is to look at another artist but still progress with the thoughts of what I have learnt from Burton’s style such as the mark-making, layout, silhouette etc.
