FUNLAND PREDATORS AND PREY
PREY: Squirrels, Rats, Mice, Small Birds, Fish, Toads, Frogs, armadillo, gopher, muskrat, shrew, vole
PREDATORS: Florida Panther (rare but they do see them) Black Bear (rare but they do see them) Alligators, Crocodiles, coyotes, grey fox, red fox
AquaClan are really the only fishers and are suited to the water but they get exposed to more gators than any clan.
Panthers and Bears are a call to arms for all clans to attack as are crocodiles.
FunClan is light and dainty which makes them great at catching birds, however what they're really good at is hunting moles, gophers and other creatures hiding in their game boxes.
RideClan likes birds the best but they can bring down big prey because they group hunt a lot.

Aquamarine: Belongs to my younger brother
A valiant and ruthless, almost feral warrior who served in Blue Diamonds court. Wound up getting poofed during the war and was found by Steven later on. She was quick to join the Crystal Gems, not out of friendship (at first) by because it’s just in her being to serve the strongest and defend them.
Amethyst is their best friend and the two of them are constantly causing chaos around Beach City. Currently has three lifetime bans from Funland. Do not ask why.
Will gladly lay down her life for you if you give her fry bits.
Aqua is constantly causing Steven and Pearl grief by causing problems and being ruthless.
She also loves to try to pick fights with Steven. Wishes that he would accept her challenge and spar with her, but he always declines. So, she goes to bug Amethyst about it.
When it comes to fighting, Aqua is always paired up Moon. They take care of each other, as one is the shield and the other has the real weapon, as Aqua would put it.
Aqua has moments of vulnerability, sometimes question if she should return to Homeworld. Always finds a reason to stay on Earth. She will never admit it, but she will gladly give her life to protect the Earth and the life on it.

Love this movie.
Inspired by one of the more classic pieces of fiction ever which has been made into a movie many times.. but this time they threw the book out and just made a totally insane adventure story that feels like an anthology leading to an eventual rescue mission.  Imagine Warriors of the wasteland meet Baron Munchausen .
Well I shouldn't tell you this now.. I reviewed it before in my book.. cough cough more shameless plugs.. here is what I said..
SHE: Inspired by characters over 100 years old, but taken to the insane in a post apocalyptic world. Staring Sandhal Bergman(Conan, Frogtown) as the Goddess SHE. SHE follows two men on a quest to save a young girl lost in the wasteland. Obviously written as several short stories as they wander into several different adventures with some of the weirdest characters ever. Low budget and simple, but every time you think the movie can't get wilder, it still manages to. For a movie in a very over crowded genre it is underlooked and that is a crime.
After seeing this movie around forever I finally rented it from Eyesore Cinema.. and they have copies of my book... Huzzah!
Tumblr media
instead of posting a picture of Sandhal Bergman here is a picture of the weirdest character in the movie. He s a guard for the wasteland door and if he loses a limb he simply just multiples into more people and heckles you like the Black Knight from The Holy Grail. He looks like a monty python character too.
Instead of warriors of the wasteland this is warriors of the funland

Notes for Arcade Mania.
Here you go!
Characters: Dipper, Mabel, Steven, Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl, Robbie, Stan, Wendy, Rumble McSkirmish, Soos, Mr. Smiley
Setting: Downtown Gravity Falls, Mystery Shack, Funland Arcade, Gem Temple, Gem Caverns
Episodes to look at: Arcade Mania, Fight Fighters
Tone: humor, action
In a similar manner to the last chapter, open up with Steven and the Gems on their mission, this time in the Gem caverns; have all of the humor between Steven and the Gems, and have things play out much like they do in the episode
The drill parasites attack, so have a little action here, though the parasites eventually escape anyway; have the scene end with Steven declaring that they all deserve a reward
Cut to Funland Arcade, where Soos is showing Mabel and Stan around (some humor here) and Dipper and Wendy are playing Fight Fighters together, so have some fun stuff there
Before bringing the Gems in, continue this scene with Robbie coming in and pushing Dipper out of the way so he can play with Wendy instead, before Wendy mentions that she’s going camping for the weekend
From there, Steven and the Gems enter (show the Gem’s disinterest at the arcade) so have some fun interactions between them and Stan, Mabel, and Soos
With Mabel’s help, Steven pairs the Gems up with different arcade games (Amethyst with the skeeball machine, and Pearl with the racing game, and after two failed attempts, Garnet with Meat Beat Mania (show the beginnings of her addiction to it)
After a little bit of humor, everyone leaves, save for Garnet of course, though the other Gems aren’t too immediately concerned
Cut to the next day at the Mystery Shack, with some fun stuff, humor, before Robbie arrives to woo Wendy, though Dipper is quick to inform him that she isn’t there, leading to the altercation between them (which of course Stan doesn’t really make any attempts to stop)
Ultimately, Robbie challenges Dipper to a fight, which of course he freaks out about; at this, have Steven suggest that Dipper get fighting tips fro Garnet, who is the strongest person he knows (though of course at this, have Steven realize that he hasn’t seen Garnet since the previous day)
kick the B-plot off with Stan’s fear of heights and Mabel’s resolve to cure it, followed by the drill parasites attacking right outside, with Pearl and Amethyst rushing into stop them
Show that Pearl and Amethyst are sorely missing Garnet’s leadership (both of them think she’s simply on a mission) as they are only able to repel the parasites away, not completely defeat them
Despite this, Mabel manages to recruit them in helping Stan get over his fear of heights (Pearl does so begrudgingly, though Amethyst does it for her own amusement largely)
Dipper and Steven head for the arcade (to hide from Robbie/look for Garnet (also hint that Dipper kind of wants Garnet to fight Robbie for him),
Cut to the arcade, where Steven is trying his best to coax Garnet away from the game, only for him to eventually give up under the idea that’s she’s merely enjoying herself, despite the fact that she won’t respond to him at all
From there, go through all of the stuff with Dipper bringing Rumble McSkirmish out of the game; have some humor and over exaggeration with the fact that he is a video game character and have Dipper reach the idea that he can have Rumble fight Robbie instead (have Steven come into this scene as well, having failed to pull Garnet away from the game)
Cut back to the subplot, with Pearl and Amethyst helping Mabel trick Stan out of being afraid of heights in a variety of humorous ways (specifically in this, show Stan and Pearl’s distain for each other, yet show his rapport with Amethyst)
Have some more fun stuff with Dipper, Steven, and Rumble (though be sure to include Steven questioning Dipper’s choice to have Rumble fight this battle for him, especially after Dipper lies to Rumble to convince him to take on Robbie)
Eventually, the trio makes it to the park and encounters Robbie, who is at first unphased by Rumble, that is until Rumble begins to beat him up pretty badly, much to Steven and Dipper’s shock
Of course, to make matters worse, as this is happening, the drill parasites return, which prompts Steven to hurry and get Garnet
Meanwhile, Mabel, Amethyst, and Pearl have managed to get a blindfolded Stan to scale the water tower, which of course freaks him out, especially as both Rumble’s attacks and the drill parasites below shake its foundation, frightening all four of them
Back at the arcade, Steven desperately tries to get Garnet to leave the game behind, though to no avail; of course include the scene in which he knocks off her glasses and reveals her three eyes, all of which are entranced by the game
In an attempt to snap Garnet out of it, Steven tries to beat her at it, only to fail each time; noticing that the situation is getting worse outside, Steven eventually breaks the game itself, which finally breaks Garnet out of her deep focus
Garnet is quick to notice the situation outside and leaps into action
Before Steven can leap into the fray however, he is caught by Mr. Smilely, who blames him for breaking all the games and forces him to work to pay for them while the fights go on outside
Back at the fight, after Rumble nearly kills Robbie, Dipper reveals he was lying to get Rumble to beat up Robbie, prompting Rumble to fight him instead (don’t forget to include Soos in this!!)
Cut back to the fight between Rumble and Dipper, though before it can end with Dipper utterly losing, Garnet leaps in to his rescue and defeats the warrior easily, his loss causing him a game over and sucking him back into the game
After that, Garnet rescues Stan, Mabel, Amethyst, and Pearl from the drill gems that have nearly knocked the water tower over by now
Stan is now over his fear of heights, but at the same time, Mabel, Pearl, and Amethyst have seemed to acquired one after everything that happened (the Gems on a more minor scale though)
Have much of the same resolution be the same as in the episode, with Dipper and Robbie reaching something of a truce over Wendy and Steven coming in way later after he’s done working;
End on credit’s gag from PM

We Protected Each Other  -  A Mystery Pearl fanfiction
Sheena dropped her sword ‘cause of her opponent's heavy blow. This made her deconcentrate, and fell in her attempt to get safe. She lifted her head and found the tip of the enemy sword a few inches from her nose.
"I guess you won this time," Sheena said with a smile. Pearl laughed, moving her sword away from Sheena's face. She threw herself on her girlfriend and gave her a quick kiss on the lips.
"That was very good," said Pearl. "You've improved a lot"
"I was a little slow, just say it," Sheena replied
"Just a little, in the end. Your grip should be firmer, and don't lose your sword. But seriously, you learned fast"
"I have a great coach"
Sheena put her hand on Perla's cheek. She immediately blushed.
"I love when you get nervous," Sheena said. "You look adorable"
She came slowly to kiss Pearl, but they were interrupted by a voice. "Hey girls!"
Sheena and Pearl looked up at the steps of the Sky Arena, and saw Amethyst, who had a mocking expression on her face. "What? I interrupt something?" She asked, laughing.
"We just finished training today," Pearl replied, her face completely blue.
"C'mon, P! You girls, been coming out months, you shouldn't be so nervous anymore. Anyway, Steven and Connie brought pizza and some movies, and they don't want to start without you, girls"
"In a moment!" Sheena said, smiling at Amethyst
"Sure... Well, I'll go tell them. I'll leave you here. Alone. Byyye"
Amethyst disappeared, and Sheena hear the sound of the warp pad.
"So..." Sheena whispered, and before Pearl did or said anything, she kissed her slowly. "You owed me that"
"I love you" Pearl said, stroking Sheena's hair.
"I love you too, dear. C'mon, we don't want to make Steven wait"
"He must be very excited. He said something 'bout the new Lonely Blade movie ... Although I still think those films show very inaccurate combat techniques ... "
"It's just a movie, it doesn't have to make sense. You said it"
"Yes, but..."
Sheena laughed, and stood, offering a hand to Pearl to help her get up. Then, she went to pick up the sword, and put it in the scabbard.
"You should retrain the sword" Pearl proposed "You know... In case you want to practice for yourself"
"Sure. I just hope I don't make a mess in the house"
"If you do, you can call me. You know I love fixing up disasters"
"You don't need that excuse to go to my house, babe"
Pearl laughed and kissed Sheena on the cheek, "Let me help you"
She set about arranging Sheena's gym bag, adjusting the sword perfectly. "I want to thank you for getting along so well with Steven," Pearl said. "He and Connie don't stop talking about how good it is to be with you"
"Oh, it's nothing," Sheena replied, taking her gym bag. "They're sweet kids"
"Yes, that's true" Pearl said, taking her girl's hand, and they walked the warp pad together.
The teleportation was something that Sheena still didn't get used to, it was really strange to travel that way, but when your girlfriend is an alien, strange things are common.
In less than a minute, they were in the temple, or rather, Steven's house. Steven, Connie, Amethyst, and Garnet were sitting in front of the television, though it was still off.
"Pearl, Sheena!" Steven exclaimed "Come on, we're going to watch the movie"
"Hi everyone," Sheena greeted, leaving her bag on the couch.
"How about training, girls?" Amethyst said, smiling "I thought it was going really great, right?"
Pearl blushed. Before she or Sheena could say anything, Connie ran to the side of Sheena and said "I'm dying for you to train with us! O with Stevonnie! That will be great!"
"Give me a little more time" Sheena replied "You're already an expert, you'd beat me in a second" Connie blushed. Sheena smiled, and raised her hand to give a hi-five "Human beings?"
"Human beings!"
Sheena noticed Pearl staring at her with star eyes. That little alien nerd was too cute. Gived her number to Pearl has been the best decision of his life
"C'mere" Amethyst said "I starve, and Steven will not let me open the pizza!"
"We ordered your favorite, Sheena!" Steven exclaimed.
"Thanks" Sheena said, sitting up in bed and stirring Steven's hair. "This deserves to be invited to Funland over the weekend, how about it?"
"Wow! It would be great!"
"You're amazing," whispered Pearl in Sheena's ear, hugging her, while Steven put the movie on.
Garnet turned to look at them. She smiled, and raised his thumb.
In afternoon, Sheena and Pearl were left alone, since all the others had gone to leave Connie to her house. They talked for a while, until it was time for Sheena to go home too. Pearl offered to go with her, and Sheena agreed. Perhaps when they arrived, she could convince Pearl to spend the night with her. Pearl don't really sleep, but Sheena enjoyed her company. One of the first times Pearl stayed at Sheena's house, she had fallen asleep, and Sheena had seen a projection of what seemed to be Pearl's dreams coming out of her gem. Pearl dreamed of Sheena, both on the bike, traveling through space. The dream's Pearl looked so happy, that the real Sheena couldn't avoid hugging her girlfriend and covering her with kisses, although that meant waking her. Anyway, she hoped Pearl would say yes to staying at her house.
They were walking along the beach, on the way to Big Donut, where Sheena had parked the bike. Pearl looked out at the horizon, watching the sunset. Sheena paused for a moment.
"Is something wrong?" Pearl asked, looking at Sheena.
"No, it's just..." Sheena felt a little nervous. Oh gosh, Pearl was ... perfect "I wanted to tell you that you're beautiful"
Pearl gave a nervous laugh, and her face turned blue "I also think you are beautiful. You have made perfect every day since I met you "
Sheena took Pearl in her arms. She was so small and thin that she could lift it easily. Pearl blushed even more, if that's possible. She kissed her neck, and go to her lips. Pearl returned the kiss, holding Sheena's neck with her arms. Sheena had never known anyone to make her feel this way.
"I love you, my Pearl," Sheena said. "You have no idea how much"
"I love you much more" Pearl replied
Sheena came over to kiss Pearl again, but was interrupted by a roar. From the ocean came a monster, a corrupted gem, just like the ones that had appeared in The Great North. Sure it was some of the ones Jasper had held captive, that they ran away when Jasper herself got corrupted.
"Can we never have a walk on the beach without a monster attacking us?" Sheena said mockingly as she went down to Pearl.
The corrupted gem shook the water like a dog, and though it had no visible eyes, it turned toward them.
"Go behind those rocks!" Shouted Pearl, summoning her spear "I take charge"
"No, Pearl ..." Sheena began.
"Run!"
She knew that Pearl wouldn't focus on anything else until she obeyed, so she did. She stayed at a safe distance, but... Pearl needed help. Sheena had to do it! Wasn't that what she was training for? Pearl was having problems with the monster, of course! That gem was huge, and Pearl was so delicate ... She was a great warrior and everything, but we all need help now and then!
"Pearl!" Sheena shouted.
"Don't worry, I almost..." Pearl didn't finish the sentence, 'cause in that moment of distraction, the monster hit her with the claw, so strong that Pearl's body flew away, and crashed into the rock behind Sheena was.
"Pearl!" Sheena exclaimed, running along with her girlfriend. Pearl was stunned, tried to get up, but Sheena forced her to stay on the floor, pulled the sword from his gym bag and ran towards the monster. She didn't have much time. She had to get rid of the monster before Pearl could intervene. She wanted to show her that I could be of use to the team. She felt so much adrenaline that she didn't even feel nervous when she was in front of the monster.
The monster tried to attack it with its claws, but Sheena dodged, imagining that everything was juts a training session. I had to, I had to do it for Pearl. She tried to attack, but the monster was faster, and managed to make Sheena fly backwards. She felt a horrible pain in her left hand, with which she had stopped the fall, but she didn't care. She took the sword again, and tried to leave her mind blank, didn't even pay attention to the cries of Pearl. In fact, it was not very clear what happened next. It was a moment of total adrenaline, and she only concentrated on trying to keep the monster from killing her. But then it happened. She managed to fit the sword into the creature's chest, there was a poof, and the monster disappeared, leaving only a gem in the sand. Sheena dropped her sword, gasping, and went to pick up the gem, kneeling to catch her breath.
"Sheena!" she turned, and saw not only Pearl, but also Amethyst, Garnet, and Steven running toward her.
"That was amazing!" Steven exclamed, embracing her "Your first mission!"
"Did you guys... see everything?" Sheena asked, somewhat embarrassed, giving the gem to Garnet.
"Just the end" Garnet replied, bubbled the gem and sending it to the temple "We just turned in the beach to see how poofed the gem"
"You rock, S!" Amethyst shouted, pounding the air with her fist
Pearl said nothing. She knelt beside Sheena and hugged her.
"You two, let's go," said Garnet, taking Steven and Amethyst and taking them away.
Sheena and Pearl were silent for a while. Sheena felt her shoulder wet with Pearl's tears, and the pain in her left hand increased.
"You didn't have..." Pearl started, but Sheena interrupted her with a kiss. It only managed to alter Pearl more.
"I had to do it," Sheena said. "I had to protect you"
"No, you don't have to do that!" Pearl replied. "You shouldn't protect me!"
"You fought for me first. Now I had to do it for you. We help each other. We are a team, right? Is that how it works"
She put her hand on Pearl's cheek, wiped a tear whit her thumb. "Look, Pearl... I know... Well, maybe... R-Rose might never have done something like that for you." Pearl looked at her, very surprised. "But I'm not her, remember?"
Sheena feared she had gone too far. She frozes, hoping not to cause a negative reaction from Pearl.
"Sheena, you're wonderful. I love you! " Pearl exclaimed, still crying.
"My Pearl..." Sheena muttered, kissing her again.
"Oh my stars!!! Sheena!!!" Pearl completely lost her temper "Are you hurt ?! That was so dangerous! Oh, Sheena... You're bleeding!"
"What?" She raised her hand to her forehead, not knowing what to expect. But, to her relief, it was only a small wound on one eyebrow, from which only a small drop of blood flowed. Nothing to worry about. But apparently, Pearl didn't think so. "Oh my stars! Sheena! That's blood! Humans need that blood stay inside! What do we do? What…?!"
"Babe, keep calm" Sheena laughted "It's just a little blood, I'll be fine. I worry 'bout my hand. I think it's dislocated "
Pearl took her injured hand gently. He took a deep breath to calm herself, and said, "I guess it's nothing Steven can't heal. C'mon, let's go to the temple" Pearl helped her to her feet, taking the sword.
"Sure" Sheena said, brushing her hair off her face. "By the way... how does Steven's healing powers work?"
"Well... I don't know if you really want to know..."

off the rack #1256
Monday April 1, 2019
Call me an April fool. I thought that the pure joy of comic book collecting was going the way of the Dodo bird but judging from the attendance of yesterday's Capital Comic Book Convention I'm glad to say I am mistaken. No celebrities. No cosplay. No special events. Just a room full of vendors who also love the hobby and collectors looking for unique and fun comics. I want to thank my partner Chris for all his hard work. He made Jee-Riz's booth a standout in the room. "You don't see this sort of stuff very often" was heard more than once.
Archie #703 - Nick Spencer (writer) Sandy Jarrell (artist) Matt Herms (colours) Jack Morelli (letters). So much going on. We find out who attacks Jughead in the woods and why. I want to be a roadie for Josey and the Pussycats. Betty and Veronica enlists the aid of Cheryl Blossom to ferret out if Archie has a new girlfriend. As long as it's not Betty I'm not jealous of the ginger bonehead.
Avengers #17/LGY #707 - Jason Aaron (writer) David Marquez (art) Erick Arciniega (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). This issue has some of the cheesiest dialogue I have ever read. I really hope that the Vampire War is over. This Avengers team is a bit too goody two shoes for me.
Batman #67 - Tom King (writer) Lee Weeks & Jorge Fornes (art) Lovern Kindzierski (colours) Clayton Cowles (letters). Knightmares part 5. Batman's in his Batman: Year One costume chasing a masked killer. You'll feel like you're watching a Roadrunner cartoon. The guy in the mask is William Ernest Coyote. You're in for a shock when Batman unmasks him.
Savage Sword of Conan #3 - Gerry Duggan (writer) Ron Garney (art) Richard Isanove (colours) VC's Travis Lanham (letters). Conan is captured by the evil wizard Koga Thun but manages to escape to continue his search for treasure. It looks like he's got to fight zombies to get to the treasure. I got all excited when I saw the cover showing Conan fighting alongside Belit but nothing like that happens at all inside. I'm not reading any more of these. I don't like being played for a sucker.
Immortal Hulk #15 - Al Ewing (writer) Joe Bennett (pencils) Ruy Jose (inks) Paul Mounts (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). I love this couch session with Doc Samson and the Hulk, sans couch. The two talk it out after a sniper shoots Betty and the Hulk. Some of the stuff they talk about is quite insightful. You think they're trying to find Betty but they're not. Their final destination is a surprise.
Thor #11 - Jason Aaron (writer) Lee Garbett (art) Antonio Fabela (colours) VC's Joe Sabino (letters). Thor goes looking for his best friend thinking he's going to need all the help he can get in the coming War of the Realms. The Lady Freyja has to make her son stop his foolish search. I like the little snippets showing characters we haven't seen in a while and I can't wait to see what their roles are in the war. Get ready true believers, Malekith is about to invade Midgard.
Avengers LGY #714: No Road Home #7 - Jim Zub, Mark Waid & Al Ewing (writers) Paco Medina (art) Jesus Aburtov (colours) VC's Joe Sabino (letters). This issue features Monica Rambeau/Spectrum. Who better to fight the Queen of Darkness than a being of light. The last page made up for the disappointment I felt reading Savage Sword of Conan #3.
Heroes in Crisis #7 - Tom King (writer) Clay Mann (art pages 1-6, 11, 17,-19, 23-24) Travis Moore (art pages 8-10, 13, 14-16, 20-21) Jorge Fornes (art pages 7, 12, 22) Tomeu Morey (colours) Clayton Cowles (letters). You could read this one issue and it wouldn't make a lick of sense unless you've read the previous 6. I even had a hard time understanding what's going on and I've read every issue. I think the only reason I'm going to read the last two issues is to find out if anything makes sense in the end.
Hulkverines #2 - Greg Pak (writer) Guiu Vilanova (art) Morry Hollowell with Chris Sotomayor (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). We go from Hulkverine, the Hulk and Wolverine fighting each other to the three of them teaming up. Meanwhile the Leader and Doctor Alba, who created Hulkverine, do the super villain equivalent of what the three super heroes did. The result is going to be very interesting. This is the first I've seen of Guiu Vilanova's art and I think it's great.
Ironheart #4 - Eve L. Ewing (writer) Luciano Vecchio (art) Geoffo (layouts) Matt Milla (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). It's a rematch with Midnight's Fire. This new super villain reminds me of Miles's uncle Aaron AKA the Prowler. I hope there isn't too much overlap between these two young super heroes, otherwise I will get bored with one of them.
The Avant-Guards #3 - Carly Usdin (writer) Noah Hayes (art) Rebecca Nalty (colours) Ed Dukeshire (letters). The team has their first practice and play their first game. Major points to Noah for showing the players following through on their shots. I used to love playing basketball but never made my high school team. So I ended up managing both junior and senior teams and got to practice with them. I would love to find someone my own age to shoot some hoops with right now.
Black Widow #3 - Jen & Sylvia Soska (writers) Flaviano (art) Veronica Gandini (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). Natasha's mission to shut down an online pay-per-view torture site goes horribly wrong. I can't wait to see how she gets out of this predicament.
Sabrina the teenage witch #1 - Kelly Thompson (writer) Veronica Fish & Andy Fish (art) Jack Morelli (letters). This new comic book is more like the TV show than the gritty ghoulish title that was on the racks a while ago. I liked the old show but haven't seen the new one. I had a crush on Melissa Joan Hart. I really like the writing and art in this so it's going on my "must read" list.
Dial H for Hero #1 - Sam Humphries (writer) Joe Quinones (art) Dave Sharpe (letters). I mainly bought Marvel comics when I got more spending money and could afford new comic books but I did buy this DC title because I liked the concept. Robby Reed was this nerdy kid who finds a rotary telephone dial that changed him into a different super hero whenever he dialled H-E-R-O. he always had different powers and a different costume. This updated version has a kid named Miguel who is an adrenaline junky. An old timey telephone, the whole thing with handset this time, appears before him as he's plummeting towards certain death and he changes into Monster Truck. The Monster Truck pages are quite Kirbyesque. Throw in a page with Damian/ Robin, Lobo, Snapper Carr, Angel and the Ape, Harley Quinn and Alfred and I am hooked. I liked the town troublemaker Summer too. I am looking forward to seeing their further adventures.
Doctor Strange #12 - Mark Waid (writer) Barry Kitson (pencils) Scott Koblish (inks) Brian Reber (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). Herald Supreme part 1. Stephen Strange is bored but he won't be for long. An alien from a warrior race of mystics comes to Earth to ask Doctor Strange how he defeated Galactus. I guess there's no Marvel comics where this guy is from. Seems the world eater is fixing to eat his planet. The super aggressive Zoloz manages to steal all of Doc Strange's mystical power and banishes Galactus in the Mystic Realms. Read this issue to find out why that's a bad idea. Now it's up to Stephen to keep the big purple planet eater from feeding and destroying our universe too.
Action Comics #1009 - Brian Michael Bendis (writer) Steve Epting (art) Brad Anderson (colours) Rob Leigh (letters). Leviathan Rising part 3. Lois is pissed at Amanda Waller but she reigns in her anger to come up with a plan to find out what Leviathan is. We get to see what Gold Kryptonite does, which is kind of cool. It's fun when something new gets added to a story. Superman's transformation surprised me.
Sharkey the bounty hunter #2 - Mark Millar (writer) Simone Bianchi (art & colours) Peter Doherty (letters). This one's a fun space romp. The hunter finds his prey but she's not going to come along quietly.
The Superior Spider-Man #4 - Christos Gage (writer) Mike Hawthorne (pencils) Wade von Grawbadger (inks) Jordie Bellaire (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). I hope this change is permanent but it's going to take some getting used to calling Otto but his new identity Elliot. I like how Anna Maria is the woman behind the man. She teaches him a lesson in humility in this issue. Now I have a craving for Polish sausage.
Shazam #4 - Geoff Johns (writer) Dale Eaglesham & Marco Santucci (art) Mike Atiyeh (colours) Rob Leigh (letters). Yay, my wish came true. We meet Tawky Tawny the tiger in the first 6 pages. This version is quite dapper. The kids get separated with two in the Wildlands, two in the Gamelands and Mary and Billy in the Funlands, contrary to what the cover shows. Who's going to rescue the Marvel Family? The last page will enlighten you. I'm not excited about the movie hitting theatres on April 5 but if it's as good as this comic book, I might go see it.
Fantastic Four #8 - Dan Slott (writer) Aaron Kuder, Stefano Caselli, David Marquez & Reilly Brown (art) Matt Yackey (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). Did someone forget to tell cover artist Esad Ribic that Victorious was female? Doctor Doom has captured both Galactus and the Fantastic Four. He's siphoning off the former's cosmic power and is going to execute the latter. Reed, Sue, Ben and Johnny are sure in a pickle. I can't wait to see how they get out of it.
The Amazing Spider-Man #18 - Nick Spencer (writer) Humberto Ramos (pencils) Victor Olazaba (inks) Edgar Delgado & Erick Arciniega (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). Hunted part 2. There's a spectre of danger hovering over Mary Jane in the side story. That's always a good plot twist to keep a Spider-Man fan hooked.
Daredevil #3 - Chip Zdarsky (writer) Marco Checchetto (art) Sunny Gho (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). Know Fear part 3. Daredevil's been shot and is about to be arrested for murder. Detective Cole North aims to bring the suspect in no matter what it takes. I wonder if Canadian Chip Zdarsky picked that name as an inside joke? Just when the "tough-as-nails" ex-Chicago cop is about to succeed, Daredevil is rescued. I chuckled when I saw who it was, and it's not Man-Thing.
Detective Comics #1000 - Is this worth $9.99 US? You bet your sweet bippy it is. I might even buy one for myself, but which cover to pick? Here are the choices.
Main cover by Jim Lee (pencils) Scott Williams (inks) & Alex Sinclair (colours)
1930s by Steve Rude (art)
1940s by Bruce Timm (art)
1950s by Michael Cho (art)
1960s by Jim Steranko (art)
1970s by Bernie Wrightson (art) & Alex Sinclair (colours)
1980s by Frank Miller (art) & Alex Sinclair (colours)
1990s by Tim Sale (art) & Brennan Wagner (colours)
2000s by Jock (art)
2010s by Greg Capullo (art) & FCO Plascencia (colours)
 We get 3 pin-ups by:
Mikel Janin (art)
Jason Fabok (art) & Brad Anderson (colours)
Amanda Conner (art) & Paul Mounts (colours)
Then there's all the terrific stories inside that not only shows Batman as a crime fighter but more importantly for this title as a consummate crime solver. You will find all of Batman's family and rogues gallery in here. I loved how this issue was a feast for the eyes too. I'm just going to list the titles of the stories and their creative teams. If you don't buy a copy for your comic book collection then you're missing out on what will be a classic. With a line up like this you can't lose.
Longest Case by Scott Snyder (writer) Greg Capullo (pencils) Jonathan Glapion (inks) FCO Plascencia (colours) & Tom Napolitano (letters).
Manufacture for Use by Kevin Smith (writer) Jim Lee (pencils) Scott Williams (inks) & Alex Sinclair (colours) & Todd Klein (letters).
The Legend of Knute Brody by Paul Dini (writer) Dustin Nguyen (pencils) Derek Fridolfs (inks) John Kalisz (colours) & Steve Wands (letters).
The Batman's Design by Warren Ellis (writer) Becky Cloonan (art) Jordie Bellaire (colours) & Simon Bowland (letters).
Return to Crime Alley by Denny O'Neil (writer) Steve Epting (art) Elizabeth Breitweiser (colours) & AndWorld Design (letters).
Heretic by Christopher Priest (writer) Neal Adams (art) Dave Stewart (colours) & Willie Schubert (letters).
I Know by Brian Michael Bendis (writer) Alex Maleev (art & colours) & Josh Reed (letters).
The Last Crime in Gotham by Geoff Johns (writer) Kelley Jones (art) Michelle Madsen (colours) Rob Leigh (letters).
The Precedent by James Tynion IV (writer) Alvaro Martinez-Bueno (pencils) Raul Fernandez (inks) Brad Anderson (colours) & Sal Cipriano (letters).
Batman's Greatest Case by Tom King (writer) Tony S. Daniel & Joelle Jones (art) Tomeu Morey (colours) & Clayton Cowles (letters).
And finally Medieval by Peter J. Tomasi (writer) Doug Mahnke (pencils) Jaime Mendoza & Doug Mahnke (inks) David Baron (colours) & Rob Leigh (letters).
That last story introduces a new (at least to me) Gotham City crime fighter named the Arkham Knight. His story continues in Detective Comics #1001 and I'm going to snag that issue off the racks to find out who he is.

Christian Slater returns to the West End as smooth talking sales shark Ricky Roma, in David Mamet’s cult classic Glengarry Glen Ross. Alongside A Killer Sales Team: Robert Glenister as Dave Moss, Kris Marshall as John Williamson, Stanley Townsend as Shelley ‘The Machine’ Levene and Don Warrington as George Aaronow.
Christian Slater (Mr Robot, True Romance, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest), Robert Glenister (Hustle, Spooks), Kris Marshall (Death in Paradise, Love Actually, My Family), Stanley Townsend (Girl from the North Country, The Nether) and Don Warrington (Death in Paradise, Rising Damp) are the ‘deal chasing’ cut-throat sales team in David Mamet’s masterpiece, Glengarry Glen Ross.
This trailblazing modern classic, directed by Sam Yates, runs at the Playhouse Theatre from 26 October to 3 February 2018 for a strictly limited 14-week season. The play has won every major dramatic award on both sides of the Atlantic, making it an extraordinary theatrical success story. Its sensational world premiere at the National Theatre in 1983, earned it the Olivier Award for Best Play, whilst its 1984 Broadway premiere garnered multiple Tony Award nominations and just a year later, it won the Pulitzer Award for Drama. In 1992 the play was adapted by Mamet into an Academy Award nominated film featuring an all-star cast including Jack Lemmon, Al Pacino, Ed Harris, Alan Arkin, Kevin Spacey and Jonathan Pryce.
At a time of fierce debate about the American Dream and what it represents, Glengarry Glen Ross is a lacerating satire for modern society, highlighting how economic austerity can affect the morality and greed of individuals under financial pressure.
Glengarry Glen Ross is produced by ATG Productions, Act Productions and Glass Half Full Productions.
Lies. Greed. Corruption. It’s business as usual. Set in an office of cut-throat Chicago salesmen. Pitched in a high-stakes competition against each other, four increasingly desperate employees will do anything, legal or otherwise, to sell the most real estate. As time and luck start to run out, the mantra is simple: close the deal and you’ve won a Cadillac; blow the lead and you’re f****d.

THE CLANS OF FUNLAND
A little descriptor of the Clans of Funland!
TENTCLAN
Kind Hearted, Unique, Freaks
TentClan live under the big top and in the fenced in area where the freakshow and circus was. Proud and loving, TentClan embraces the freaky and unique and no cat will ever get left behind because of a so called flaw. Currently led by the crafty and devious Freakstar.
FUNCLAN
Funny, Competitive, Artists
Dainty and delicate but smart as anything these cats are the fun loving, crafty cats of Funland. Called riddlers by the other clans, you can always be in for a good time with these amusing cats. Currently led by the young, inexperienced Ringstar.
RIDECLAN
Lighthearted, Brave, Daredevils
Get out of their way! Rideclan cats will run you over if you get in their way. Brash and bossy, Rideclan cats live for the thrill and celebrate beauty and flawlessness, sometimes to a fault. Currently led by the fast talking Coasterstar.
AQUACLAN
Soft Spoken, Generous, Swimmers
The quietest clan, Aquaclan minds their business and enjoys the peace and quiet of their isolated water rides. They would give anyone the pelt off their backs and often are seen helping kittypets and loners who have lost their way. Currently led by the powerful and honest Frightstar.
