Gutiérrez switches on the light, illuminating oak laminate cabinets, beige floral tiling and a matching tile-top kitchen island upon which tightly-packed rectangular parcels of beige-tinted powder are stacked in brickwork formation.

Carlos' eyes pop at the sight of it. "Are you serious?"

“Oh, relax. What do you think I do here all day – listen to true crime podcasts and make friendship bracelets?” Gutiérrez swipes an upside-down sepia glass coffee pot from the drying rack. In reaction, a stack of ceramic plates and cutlery collapses in a cacophonous domino effect. He ignores it. “Anyway, it’s flour. Decoy drop this evening should get moles out of the hole. That’s what your daddy used to say.” Gutiérrez gestures behind Carlos. Sure enough, on the countertop next to a retro-looking brown microwave, there are several empty packets of King Arthur unbleached, covered in their own dust. “My requisition didn’t go through, though, so I’m out of pocket,” Gutiérrez continues, grizzling. “But Costco loves me. The checkout girl probably thinks I’m some master baker.”

Carlos watches Gutiérrez hunt around in a drawer for a fresh filter for the coffee machine, which is as equally ancient as the microwave, the fridge, and the sink. Such can be the austerity of public-funded undercover ops. Carlos wishes he didn’t like Gutiérrez. Thanks to the nature of his own job, and his father’s job – which included the whistle-blowing of corruption within the auspices of the Texas Rangers – virtually everyone in his life occupies a dangerous position. Tomorrow, he could read in The Austin Chronical about a man called Pablo Martinez being gunned down in Chicano Park. A narcotics drop gone lethal. Carlos would have to grit his teeth while buttoning his shirt in the locker room at the precinct, hearing colleagues laugh and jaunt about another falcon removed from the streets.

“Take a seat,” Gutiérrez says, “Here, I’ll move a few of these out of your way.” He bundles up a dozen of the decoy parcels and dumps them next to a ceramic cookie jar shaped like a football.

excerpt [timefucked 2]:

Something’s not right. Something is really not right. Wrong, that’s the word he’s looking for. Steve shuts his eyes, feeling the world beneath his feet keep spinning.

He sucks in a deep breath. Presses the palm of his hands into each of his eyes. Exhales. 

“Hey,” a voice, warm and soft and close to his ear. He didn’t even feel him crowd his space, “you doing okay?” 

Steve opens his eyes, vision taking a second to readjust to the lights in the living room. The movement of bodies, out of focus, blurring all together. He blinks one more time. Trying to get his eyes to focus. He feels sick. 

“Do you wanna get some air?” 

Suddenly, a little voice in the back of his head — not his subconscious, not the voice that lingers and looks for danger, something else, loud and clear yet muffled and distant — 

This isn’t how it happens.

I headcanon that skywarp is actually really smart! Think about it- the sheer amount of calculations he has to do in a split second in order to teleport? Taking inertia and gravity and shit into account to make sure he doesn't accidentally warp his spark outside his chest or his head inside a gun?

Unfortunately literally nobody including skywarp himself have any idea because his warp drive takes up all that bandwidth. so he's just over here eating chips and getting crumbs all over himself. Casually a genius with no awareness of it. Using his incredible processor to teleport into a storage closet and steal breakdowns nintendo ds

I also think because of his teleporting he easily makes friends with bigger/more intimidating tfs like triple changers, cuz its harder for them to intimidate/accidentally kill him :] sorry for rambling happy warp wednesday

this this THIS i completely agree and i think about it all the time— he’s definitely smart and good at math and physics but probably unaware of it. like i’m sure he’s called dumb all the time and it’s easy to believe that when people keep telling you. BUT yes i agree his warp drive must be skill-based (if that’s the right words to use), rather then just a cool power he has

also re: nintendo ds— i know in my heart soul and mind that he has a big collection of n64 and gamecube stuff!!! i imagine cybertronians could probably download the games to their processors but also it’s probably cooler and more fun to play the games in-person. i know technically they are supposed to be tiny since they’re human-made but let’s not think too deeply about that

and finally this i agree with as well because it’s probably easy to fuck with them and piss them off and just -zoop- escape
