PUPPET: [Upon this blessed day, we bring to you an offering that seeks to satisfy your whims. On behalf of us, servants, we present to you the one which the fates considered worthy: VIL SCHOENHEIT.]

ROSA: Vil! You came!

VIL: Of course. After all, I had been summoned by this puppet of yours a while ago. What an odd thing it is, to tell you the truth. I haven't seen enchantments like this in quite a while.

ROSA: Hehe, isn't it cool? Professor Yaga says that it's from her personal collection so it's bound to be old!

VIL: That woman... Just how ancient will she claim to be until she is satisfied?

ROSA: Aaah, I'm not sure about that but it's kinda cool that she has all these gadgets, right?

VIL: Indeed, I suppose that for a Rosenhex student like you there would be interest in this sort of technology. If we may call it that.

ROSA: Mm, I guess so! Though I'm not really that good with enchantments, to be honest... I'm definitely the sort of witch who leans more towards charms! You could even say that they're my speciality! Hehehe!

VIL: Hmph, is that so? Your conceit is rather enchanting in its own way, I suppose, but you shouldn't let it go to your head. You'll look just like a child with an inflated ego.

ROSA: HUH?! Seriously?! Ahhhh, that's the last thing that I want... Ok! Then! Today, for my very special birthday, I would like to observe Vil as my birthday present!

VIL: Observe me? Now, that's quite an interesting proposition. And what exactly are you hoping to accomplish by that, hm?

ROSA: Well! Since Vil is so mature and adult-like, I'd like to learn your tricks so I can get that sort of allure as well! Isn't that really, really smart on my part, hehe?

VIL: Smart? You really just come up with the most ridiculous things... But very well, I will grant you this. But first and foremost, sit down here.

ROSA: Huh? Why? What's happening? Is this our first lesson?

VIL: Don't get ahead of yourself. Before even thinking of becoming my disciple, you must look the part. A cute, full-checked face would be more fitting for a young Ingenue, but since you're so adamant about having a mature allure... Yes, I know what must be done. Now sit still.

VIL: There. We're done. You may look at yourself in a mirror now.

ROSA: ... WOAAAH!! Amazing!! This is really cool!! Eh, is this really me? Am I the one in the mirror? Waaaah!! That eyeshadow really fits me so well and I'd never have thought of using it like that! Hehehehe, it's just as I thought! You sure are amazing, Vil! Ever since we were kids you've had a knack for this sort of thing!

VIL: Yes, yes, I appreciate your praise very much, Rosalia. But please don't move around too much or you'll mess up your hair. The ponytail you did today suits you well, and matches the overall aesthetic of your outfit too.

ROSA: Hehe, thank you~ I really did my best since I thought the best way to celebrate my birthday was by having a complete rehaul of my own image! Getting it to behave was a bit hard, but now that it's finally in order, I'm a bit afraid the scrunchie will snap...

VIL: Oh, is that so? Then he must have known quite well how to act in this situation.

ROSA: Hm? What's that supposed to mean?

VIL: Nothing. Instead, here, this was something that Jack asked me to bring over to you.

ROSA: ... A scrunchie? WAIT! IT'S ACTUALLY-

It's the one I saw in that magazine! But it's kinda weird... I remember Jack asking me to look over them because he wanted to buy one for his little sister and I told him this one was the cutest, but hm... Maybe his sister didn't like it after all? But then- Why is he sending it over to me?! He should send it over to the seller! Seriously! That Jack!

VIL: Good grief, I can understand now why things are so complicated between them...

SCENE II

ROSA: Hehe, this look is so cool~ Ah, Vil, can you take a picture of me like this so I can show it off on Magicam?

VIL: Goodness, very well, since it is your birthday, I suppose I can indulge you for a bit. Now, let's see...

[camera flashes]

VIL: Not bad. It seems that all your work as a model really paid off, hm?

ROSA: Hehehe, I'm a pretty ambitious pupil so I had to catch up with you quickly, you know! Ah, lemme just post this quickly and... Ta-Da!

Oh, it's getting a lot of engagement right away! Hehe, that's nice!

PUPPET: [Then shall I proceed with the game?]

VIL: Game?

ROSA: Oh! That's right! We're supposed to be playing a sort of game right now actually... Then, if you're ok with it, Vil!

VIL: I suppose I must as those are the rules. Very well, what is your game then, puppet?

PUPPET: [Understood. I shall now proceed to ask a question that Rosalia Morgainne will answer and which Vil Schoenheit will be tasked to interpret.]

VIL: Oh, now that's a birthday game that I'm not familiar with. But go ahead. Ask your question.

PUPPET: [Question: You are at the bottom of a collapsed set of stairs. You can see no other way up and to safety than to shout for help. When you do that somebody answers your call. Who would it be?]

ROSA: Hmmm, who would it be, who would it be... Oh! I know! It would be Marcia!

VIL: The Prefect of Kriegskald? How so?

ROSA: Well, Marcia is always such a busybody I have no doubt she'd find herself in all sorts of weird places! And she never leaves the house without her trusted broom so if she finds me, it would be super easy for her to give me a lift! Isn't that really, really helpful?

VIL: I suppose... But I expect she'd ask for something in return as well. I doubt you would get off that easily.

ROSA: Aaah, that's true... I'd definitely end up broke in that situation! I hate that! Aaah, it better not be Marcia that shows up!

VIL: Calm down, it's an imaginary exercise. If you're so bothered by her showing up, then why not imagine somebody else instead?

ROSA: Somebody else... Hmm... Hmmmm... Hmmmmmmm...

Oh! I know! Jack!

VIL: Jack? How so?

ROSA: Well, hm, I guess because he's got a really good nose and good ears so even if something would happen to me, he'd find me very easily! Like! That one time we went shopping for a present for his mom, I accidentally got lost in the crowd after we were separated, and he found me super quickly!

But... hm...

VIL: Oh, so it's not all settled then?

ROSA: No, I mean... The thing is that... Jack is really prudish!

VIL: Prudish? And how would you know that?

ROSA: Huh? Well... When we were out to get that present and after he found me, I suggested that we stick together by holding hands going forwards. But when I did, he suddenly turned completely red and flustered, and wouldn't even look at me, but would kinda just hit me with his tail now and again! Talk about rude!

VIL: ... I see. Things must be really rough for Jack, I suppose.

ROSA: Rough? In what way? Is something wrong with him?

VIL: No, never mind all that. Come here instead. Let's take a picture that you can send him now.

ROSA: Huh? Oh! Yeah! I can show him the scrunchie and tell him I'm keeping it then, hehe!

PUPPET: [Please proceed to the last part of the interview.]

VIL: A piece of paper... Ah, I see. It's a little question. Very well. Then-

“If you could not have chosen your current dorm, which would have been your second option?”

ROSA: Not chosen Rosenhex... Hmm... Hmmmmm... Hmmmmmmm...

VIL: Rosalia, stop making those noises. It's unbecoming.

ROSA: Ehehe, sorry, Vil... But this question is a bit...

VIL: Is it now? I would have assumed you'd be jumping up and down, overjoyed at the thought of transferring out of here.

ROSA: Eh, ah, it's true that I would have done that in the past... But now...

You know! I always thought that maybe I made a mistake picking Rosenhex when looking at the other dorms back in my first year. Maybe if I had been somewhere like Monarchia I'd have learned by now how to cool and wild and found a bunch of friends there. Or maybe I could have been a Noctasis girl - cool and mysterious and confident enough not to care what anyone thought about me, but, um, I actually ended up in Rosenhex that was really challenging for me...

But maybe that's a good thing?

VIL: Oh? How so?

ROSA: Well, um, it's kinda like... Ugh, I'm not good at explaining that sort of thing! But it's really just about overcoming adversity and all that! Rising above this whole stuff and just growing as a person!

Aaah, wait, that makes so sense... Let me start again from the beginning!

VIL: That's alright, Rosalia. I think I understand what you mean.

ROSA: You do? Hehe, as expected of Vil!

But hm? Why are you smiling like that?

VIL: It's nothing. I was just thinking of how much you've grown up ever since we were children. It's rather endearing.

ROSA: Huh? Endearing? But I don't wanna be endearing! I should be cool and mature now, right? Just like you!

VIL: There's still a long way for you to go until you can catch up to me, you know. But, for a start, this is not so bad.

ROSA: Eh? So it's good?

VIL: Goodness, you're truly something.

🍄 What are your OCs favourite snacks? Their favourite comfort food which always cheers them up when they’re down? Favourite meal to make? Do they enjoy baking and cooking and are they any good in the kitchen?

Hesperia Osiris

She’s not too picky, so she’ll basically eat anything that she likes. She’s always loved her older brother’s food though, so she’ll stop by his restaurant and pull the baby sister card to get free food out of him (he’s whipped). She’s capable of making basic foods like porridge and fried rice, but she hasn’t had the time or patience to try making anything more complex, and if she’s too lazy to cook, cup noodles is her saviour.

Dorothea Chalice

Her track record with eating on a regular schedule is…not the best. Often times she doesn’t really care about eating or sleeping in favour of research, so she prefers foods that are more convenient to eat and clean up. She’s not the type to particularly enjoy eating, given that her brain is always occupied with some sort of scientific research one way or another, and she’s never had to cook due to being an heiress. However, she does have basic knowledge of cooking. Whether she can apply it is another issue…

Ouka Saitou

She loves cheap snacks over expensive ones any day, given that expensive gifts just remind her of old, washed out suitors who come to visit her back home. She likes the most basic forms of snacks and sweets like dango and takoyaki, and her recent favourites have extended to spicy potato chips as well. When it comes to proper meals, her favourite is sukiyaki hot pot, she’s especially fond of cabbage and tofu. Similar to her taste in snacks, she’s not too fond of anything that’s high class, so something like hot pot where people gather around and enjoy a meal together is a luxury she hopes to experience one day.

[R18] Azul and Diana's first time together ends up revealing a lot more about their relationship than he had expected.

Not many things could take Azul Ashengrotto by surprise.

Excluding the small incident with the Ramshackle duo at the beginning of his second year, whose success he determined to have hinged on the intervention of a third party, he could assert that he had never truly been caught off his feet ever since his arrival on land. This, he would then argue, was an impressive feat, as it had been barely two and a half years ago that he acquired them.

Success was for the benefit of those who prepared beforehand. And that was what Azul did. Whether it was a test, a deal, or even a match at his club, he was sure not to leave anything to chance or luck. He prevailed through sheer perseverance.

At least until he ran into Diana. Things began to change then.

I'll gratefully use this opportunity to explain Persephone's backstory!!

Daffodil: rebirth and new beginnings

Persephone grew up in a "perfect" family, it was the epitome of a stereotypical "successful" family, and she was the epitome of a "perfect child." With her parents working in magical professions. She was aspected to do as well as them.

From the very beginning her parents had already planned out her fate, such as what type of job she would do in the future, hobbies she would have, clothes she would wear, the way she speaks and how she presents herself to others.

Rather than a person, she was treated like a doll made to represent her family's desires of how a child "should" be. Hence why Persephone never really thought of herself or what "she" would want. It has always been "Ah, Mother would want me to do this." and "Father would be happy if I chose this." She has been trained to make her decisions based on how her parents would decide for her. Thus never having her own opinions as she was never able to develop them, what was "right" and what was "wrong" depended on her parents.

Persephone had only seen what freedom was, but she had never experienced it herself since she was always afraid to take that first step. To her, it didn't matter anyway since she had never felt strongly about anything before. Furthermore, to her, it wasn't like she "needed" to decide on anything as "her" choices or fate has already been scripted from the start. (The stress from the limitations placed on her will start to build up though...)

The first decision she made was during the sorting ceremony. After seeing Rosalia's witches dance, she felt inspired to follow her own "heart's desires". Thus she had chosen to go to Rosenhex, instead of Grimmare. Which was the dorm her parents, had wanted her to chose.

....Her parents were furious, to say the least, with how she had strayed from the path they had wanted her to walk on. Thus they started to devise another plan, one they would make sure she would follow. ( Which will tie into a blot au hehe!)

After making "her" first choice she was somewhat in a state of delirium, wanting to experience things in order to find out her own likes and dislikes. Persephone had heard some girls talking about virtual singers or singers who had hidden their faces for privacy. In her high, she had gone to cover a song. Which had received a large amount of support due to her angelic voice. ( I headcanon that Persephone will be one of the singers Idia likes to watch and support! ) From here, Persephone has been trying to carve out her own fate, trying to keep people from finding out about her secret career and figuring out who "She" is.

Blanche: An easy target, and will likely give him the exact reactions he'd be looking for. Hasn't been allowed to torment her as he would want because the noise is disturbing to others as well.

Marcia: He thinks she's hilarious and loves her dedication to the hustle. Offered her madol in exchange for taking part in some of his experiments, which she graciously declined.

June: Her finds her strength very exciting and very likely got kicked off of campus for pushing her buttons to see it at it's full potential. He finds her a bit unhinged and loves how easy she is to set off. If he were straight he'd have a huge crush on her.

Diana: He finds her very disconcerting but also very interesting. He likes the animalistic energy, but suspects she'd fight back too much to be of any fun.

Cassandra: Who? Not interested.

Agatha: Thinks she's hilarious, she has a lot of spunk for someone so small and would love to test her limits because he suspects she talks a bigger talk than her walk.

Vita: He would kill to get her hands on her magic, and loves her energy. Like, anyone else with a strong personality and an impressive magic he wants to completely destroy her and watch her squirm. He finds her incredibly intimidating in the most complimentary way, and loves to watch her command others.

Presentation

If Ann were to be compared to something, a pale Autumn morning with the sun piercing through a fog rolling over the hills and dales, and trees slowly shedding their rust as the first frost sets delicately, would be the perfect fit. With her shapely, fairly athletic build, thick Venetian blond hair, deep brown eyes and freckles all over her body, she certainly has the same ability to gently energise the people around her in a laidback way, and yet with the underlying strength of someone hardened through her own experiences. 

Ann isn’t one to get angry or even raise her voice - in fact, she proceeds to do the exact contrary once she is shedding the velvet glove covering her iron fist. Used to face even the most dangerous magical creatures, she has a precise understanding of the manners in which she can use her body language and eyes to apply the pressure necessary to assert her control over a given situation. 

A former WNA alumn herself, and a former Monarchia student at that, Ann attaches a good amount of importance to the notion of community and the place one has in it. For that reason, she can be seen cultivating her students’ sense of self as part of a larger group, be it by helping them find their place, reminding them that there’s always a bigger pond to swim in, or even simply by helping them express themselves through various means - her own means are music and fashion. And while she’d rather point in various directions and let the students make the final choices, she’s a reliable support for guidance.

Her Unique Magic, Soothing Call, is a marvelous concentration of her personality in a simple type of magic. Once activated, this Unique Magic allows her to temper agitation and bring people and creatures to a calm, relaxed state. 

Because of all of these aspects, Ann quickly became one of the regular chaperones for the WNA students despite her fairly young age and status as a young teacher. She’s also in charge of the riding team. 

Regarding her colleagues, she’s easy-going enough to remain consensual and get along with everybody. However, she also seems to have a deeper relationship with NRC’s Alchemy teacher, Divus Crewel. Indeed, they met during their 4th year internship, which they happened to do at the same place, and were prompt to get along particularly well. 

Back when she was a student, she already had a Dalmatian dog as a familiar. In present time, she is the proud owner of a pair, with a classic black spotted male named Porter and a lemon spotted female named Pippa. Both of them are as obedient as they are affectionate, though Porter is the bigger cuddlebug, while Pippa demonstrates a more independant nature. Both dogs sport beautiful red collars, which have been gifted to them.

Trivia

Ann is twisted from Anita Radcliffe, née Campbell-Green, the deuteragonist and owner of Dalmatian female Perdita in 101 Dalmatians. 

Her appearance is in part based on the live model for Anita (as well as Aurora and Cinderella), Helene Stanley. 

Her interest in music composition is a reference to Roger Radcliffe, who’s a musician, while her interest in fashion reflects Anita’s own work in that field. 

The three pictures show variations on her style: 1) an elegant city outfit with an ornate top and a trench coat, that she’ll wear with assorted heeled derbies - the outfit she’ll likely use when visiting other schools; 2) a heavier coat over a slightly simpler top that she’ll associate with warmer boots lined with fur - her usual WNA outfit, to be protected in the cold mountain weather; 3) a more casual look with understated lips compared to her trademark poppy red, fashionable yet comfortable and perfect during well-deserved holidays. 

The music style associated with her is Chillhop/Jazzhop and shiny postmodern City Pop (think artists like Ruck P, Sadtoi, City Girl, Philanthrope, Sleepy Fish...). Modern and fashionable, yet thoughtful and relaxing.

EVEN MORE BLACKFLAME THOUGHTS AND HOW EP6 PERSONALLY HURT ME

Ignihyde final update finally dropped and I've never been more hurt by a piece of TWST media than I have been ever since I finished reading it. In terms of execution, themes and character development Ignihyde currently stand head and shoulders among my list of favourites and I don't think anything will be able to dethrone it for a while. It's just that good, both as a piece on its own but also as a homage to the original movie and even to the myths themselves. My literary critic ass will eventually get to dissecting those concepts too soon, likely during the following week, but now I would like to yell a bit about Blackflame, EP6 and how it all pans out because these ideas have had me in a vice grip, haha.

I've yelled a bit about these ideas here and here and here before too, if you'd like to check them out (and I encourage you too because this post builds off that a lot) but for now, here are my ramblings:

IDIA, VITA AND HOW THE CHILDHOOD FRIENDS TO LOVERS TROPE WINS

As I mentioned before, Idia and Vita are childhood friends who grew up together due to the fact that they've been engaged to each other from an early age. As the Watchmen of the Underworld and facilitators of OB experiments, the Shrouds believed that having the Dies, a family who specializes in medical magic and necromancy, under their thumb would be paramount to their own work. This was easily achieved by having the heir of the Shroud family and the heiress of the Dies engaged when they were 5 and 6 years old respectively, with the expectations that the two would eventually marry and take over the research facility. It's why Vita was also given a Kerberos breed guard dog in order to ensure that it would be made clear what her betrothed's family expected out of her. And given that they were the only ones who encouraged her interest in the family lore, though for their own benefit, she devoted herself to becoming of use to them.

Much of Idia's and Vita's childhood was spent in each other's company, alongside Ortho, as they were pretty much the only children their age they interacted with. Idia and Vita started off on an awkward foot, with him finding it difficult to understand how he'll eventually marry Vita when they grow older, and Vita finding all his interests a bit incomprehensible but still trying her best to engage with them. It eventually turns out that she is quite proficient as a fast learner so while she's not exactly a fan, she can hold her own and support Idia as backup in his endeavours. That transfers to real life as well, since she encouraged him to do as he pleased before the strain of taking over the family became too much for him. As his future wife, she decided to become proficient enough in anything Idia might need in order to ease his burden, even if just a little. Hence why Vita seems very capable in current times of a number of feats, as she trained herself to be this sort of person.

Vita and Ortho's relationship was quite different as young children as well, as Vita tended to dote and spoil him quite a bit and felt closer to him than to her actual sisters. The two would sometimes also team up to encourage Idia, which he found really embarrassing growing up, but did secretly enjoy. Ortho was really taken by the idea that Vita would become his older sister, and because he had difficulty pronouncing her name at first, he ended up calling her "Vita" instead. Hence her current nickname which she introduces herself by. She thinks it describes her better than her full name. And it's the one memento that she has from him after he dies.

If Vita was set on becoming Idia's support once they grew up, this becomes even more pronounced after Ortho's death. She was devastated by it. She was not present during the incident, but was informed later, and went to see Idia once he woke up. He looked so broken that Vita felt that she had failed miserably in being a supportive partner and had to work even harder to make up for her 'mistakes'. During this time she began to close herself off emotionally, not allowing herself to properly mourn his passing, thus never properly grieving him as she should have. Much like Idia, Vita continues to have unresolved issues with Ortho's death, but while he is wrecked by guilt and overindulges in his hobbies, giving up on his future, Vita goes the opposite. She throws herself in her work, becomes overly independent and focuses almost exclusively on Idia and his well-being leading to a slightly imbalanced relationship. His focus on the interior world clashes often with hers on the exterior world, leading to the two having a number of arguments over the years as they cannot reconcile with Ortho's passing and the impact it had on their relationship. Yet, that also bonds them together as they feel like the other is the only one who properly understands how important Ortho truly was.

It eventually all comes down to their platonic love for him being so strong that they feel they cannot escape the past any longer.

Things then take a complicated turn when Idia rebuilds Ortho. His inspiration was the Dies' own tradition of reviving their dead ancestors to have them around the house as living corpses and he even tries to approach Vita with the idea at first, only for her to categorically shut him down. What the Dies do is revive the body for utility purposes, the thing that walks their halls is no longer their family but just the husk. The soul has passed on and become one with the world, returning to the source and attempting to force it back would be akin to forcing somebody to live through torturous pain. This is something Vita would never want for Ortho, who she loved dearly. It also would force her to confront her own feelings regarding his loss which she is not ready to do under any circumstances yet. Meanwhile, Idia, blinded by the desire to fix what he did, disregards her refusal and goes ahead rebuilding Ortho as a robot despite the taboo nature of the act. Vita is horrified to find this out which causes a rupture in their relationship as well, as they stop seeing each other for a while. The next time that they do is after Vita finds out that she's been accepted as a student to WNA and goes over to inform Idia. They keep in touch afterwards, with both constantly dodging any discussion that involves Ortho until Vita comes back for a visit and meets him too.

When this new Ortho called her 'Vita', the same as the real Ortho used to, she thought she would break down. All her feelings and regrets came rushing back up and trying to overwhelm her, just by then she'd managed to train her mask well enough that it would slip.

The changes that she went through during her first semester at WNA meant that while she became more physically affectionate, she also turned towards tough love as her main means of dealing with situations. She continued to support Idia the best way she could, but it usually meant making sure to remind him that while he might end up becoming the head of the Shroud family, he shouldn't let it define him either. He was still free to do as he pleased. That he continued to wallow in misery bothered her a lot since she wanted him at least to fare better than she did. When that couldn't be possible, she felt even worse about her inability to help him.

Because they are childhood friends, they continue to understand each other quite well, and make a very strong team, but their stubbornness and inability to deal with the situation at hand means that they clash when it comes to dealing with issues. Vita needs to learn how to become more open and rely on others, while Idia needs to deal with the guilt that he feels over Ortho's death. They need to reconcile with this otherwise they can't move on and fix their own problems.

Still, their loyalty to each other is unmatched. Idia respects and loves Vita despite being too awkward to show it and does his best to support her research and make life as comfortable for her as he can, which means mostly through gifts, while Vita is his most vocal supporter, even defending him against her mother when the latter expressed disgust at the thought of Idia bringing Ortho back as a robot, despite Vita herself not being alright either with his actions. Most of their bonding moments happen through their shared hobbies and Vita doing her best to 'collect romance flags' along the way, which Idia claims it's 'normie stuff' but actually really likes.

He still feels quite insecure about how exactly someone like Vita would find attractive or interesting but also prefers to just ignore it and focus on enjoying her company instead.

All this changes post EP6 when the two open up about their inability to get over Ortho's death and find comfort in the fact that the other understands this tragedy better than anyone else could. Vita admits that she just wants to be a good wife and support Idia the best way she could, and Idia also admits that he should have appreciated her affection and support more and that he also was at fault for the whole situation. Once the OB incident is resolved, the two reconcile and come to terms with Ortho's death and the fate of the new one.

As the new Ortho is no longer the result of Idia's poor coping mechanisms that means that Vita becomes just as affectionate with him as she would be if he continued to live, finding comfort in the idea that rather than this being a fake trying to take the real's place, it just a memento of the Ortho they loved and now is its own person who will grow into a different being, this reconciling with her family's own traditions in a way. Along with Larna the four end up making for their own family unit, with Vita learning to be more reliant on others and Idia finding it in himself to become ambitious again to some degree.

EP6 AND NOTES ON BLACKFLAME

As mentioned in the other posts, as a member of S.T.Y.X. Vita is present during the events of the episode as one of the scientist and part of the "Persephone" branch that oversees the medical side of things. She checks the OB victims' statuses and is currently on not so good terms with Idia due to the fight they had during VDC. They continue to remain civil with each other despite everything and work together, though it's quite clear to the NRC boys that something is up, even though Ortho seems oblivious to it. During all this, she is accompanied by Larna, who, sensing the tension, is on high alert and quite fretful since he hates to see his parents fighting like this.

Things proceed as normal until Ortho turns off the security system and Idia seemingly disappears and chaos is instilled over the facility. Worried for him, Vita tries to find him but due to the Phantom breach, she is momentarily stopped from advancing any further into Tartarus than the second charge station. Much like some of the scientists she ends up in a sticky situation as she can't risk using too much magic for fear of OB and her UM doesn't help her either, since it is ineffective against the creatures. The only one at her side is Larna, who gets injured badly while trying to protect her, but they are eventually found and rescued by Vil's group.

This is important due to the fact that Vil and Vita share some common ground, with both being mom figures in group, keen on tough love, confident and tactical people. They have the sort of relationship where their banter tends to be quite friendly and they see each other as equals despite their differences. Thus, it's easier for her to accept help from them. And it also means that she trusts them to be capable people.

Aware that with Larna injured like that she'll have to stay behind to help the pup, Vita shoves down her pride and asks Vil for help to save Idia, telling them as much information as they need and making him promise to bring her husband back alive. Had it been any other group she wouldn't have trusted them, but because it was him she decided to take a chance. After all, both Vil and Vita's flaw is that they are emotionally closed off to others and too stubbornly independent, and thus Vil being the one to help Vita overcome this is in line with his own character development as he learns to put his trust in other people and become more emotionally open.

Thus, Vita ends up working communication and evacuation during the rest of the episode, ensuring that the groups have the support that they need to save Idia, while also tending to Larna who due to the severity of his wound loses one of his hind legs.

Once the OB fight is over, and Idia is saved and everybody escapes from S.T.Y.X. she and Idia have a discussion together, still raw from the whole situation. When he catches his first glimpse of her, he's wracked with guilt for putting her in danger and then relieved to see that she's not injured. That goes out the window when he sees Larna's state especially since the dog is overjoyed at seeing that his father is safe and doesn't bear him any ill will whatsoever. Idia promises to make it up to him any way he can and apologizes for putting them both in danger, only to be completely shocked by the sight of Vita crying.

For as long as he's known her, he's never seen Vita cry like this and it just momentarily breaks him (especially because of the moe gap of his usually stoic and playful wife suddenly bursting out crying in such an open way). He's even more stunned when she rushes to hug him and confesses how scared and worried she was about him and how sorry she is for not being able to do anything to actually help him. She was terrified of losing him just like they lost Ortho and wasn't sure what she'd have done if that was the case and that she's unbelievably happy to see him safe and sound.

They end up actually acknowledging their issues and how they haven't reconciled with the death they couldn't mourn properly, and Idia tells her about his meeting with Ortho on the other side and what he told him to do and they realize that it's time for them to move on and learn from their mistakes and both working towards fixing the situation instead of dancing around the issue. All the while Larna is yapping happily around them because his parents are reunited again and no longer fighting.

This results in Vita no longer opposing the creation of a new Ortho, and treating the new version much like how she'd treat a real little brother, and learns how to be more emotionally open with him, while Idia comes to terms with his brother's death, becomes more emotionally supportive of Vita as well, and creates a bionic leg for Larna, making him and Ortho 'match' now.

In essence, they become a proper power couple, haha.

They go from childhood friends who have romantic feelings for each other but also face a lot of issues, due to their emotional states, to lovers who learn to be more open with each other and work out their problems together. 💙
