THOUGHTS

(This is about the most recent Markiplier vid btw so)

Let's talk about this Warfstache vid. So here are some of my takeaways:

I think he doesn't want to face interviewees anymore because of the guilt so he's created the robot

So this robot has been stated to have Wilf's mind imprinted onto it, which is worrying.

I get it glitching out because scary robot is scary but what if it was also to reflect Wilford's mental state?

The colour code is always blue or red. Blue when calm and red when angry- this is standard colouring but I think we all know better.

Ok here's my BIGGEST theory get ready:

I think we, the interviewee, are Darkiplier. In the screenshot above, that's the second "potato salad" vid when he says:

"I saw you die."

So we are the pov person from WKM, but this is post-WKM, and by the end of the trilogy (spoiler lol) we look in the mirror and who are we? Yeah. So in this video series the pov character IS Dark.

Other things:

Interesting thing- when he asks if he's responsible, and you say no, he talks about how he doesn't want to live in fantasy anymore? Or isn't going to?

I think this is so important. This is massive for Wilford's character. But the robot isn't Wilford... and everything's pre-recorded...

Ok so final thing, I don't believe that it's truly pre-recorded. Or at least that Wilf never looks over the videos to see the interview. I think he programmed the robot to vent his guilt, or something like that, and he's fully aware.

Part 5: MarkiplierIsntReal Videos and Aberration

But now back to Actor and Lunky. Why would this rainbow aberration be cause for identification of something being off?

Well... back in the WMW breakdown video, Mark talks about this one point in the mini movie where there’s this aberration, when Wilford and Abe go from the detective’s office to back at the dance club. Paraphrasing here, he says that this is not Darkiplier and that he just wanted to replicate the effect of a VCR rewinding to establish to take things “from the top” with Wilf and Abe’s meeting. Remember the VCR thing though, that’ll be important later. (Time stamp: 2:07:50 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rsi_L1b1RwE&lc=Ugwo26EalTI5QP15ooF4AaABAg) This thereby establishing Warfstache’s use of gelling and framing this weird reality by manipulating time and space. We see this AGAIN in AHWM, as when the box is used in the Bob/Wade endings and we go through time, we see the SAME COLORS OF ABERRATION. Warfstache does the same VCR type thing in the interview as well.

Ok, so we’ve established that the rainbow aberration implies when one (besides Dark) manipulates their time and space. Now, these colors look familiar... where have I seen them before?

OH RIGHT. LUNKY.

Lunky has appeared with this aberration through that video with his song (you know the one) and in 3SG videos. Since we’ve seen through #mir that Lunky is connected as an extension of and creation from Actor’s power, as Lunky’s aberration appears in the MarkiplierIsReal hashtag in Marcus and Rachel’s Confession, implying where Lunky stands in working for Actor to cover up these secrets. We see this fabrication from time and space (Lunky) use this manipulation power, and then, as Lixian is possessed and subdued by Lunky to become Lunxian, this aberration is also adopted. (for image examples, check part 3!)

However, in "Lixian's confession", we see Lix finally break free of those possession bonds, if just for a moment, as we see his own purple and green aberration throughout flashback sequences throughout the video. (see chromatic aberration index posted later).

And in Wade and Bob's confessions, we see the VCR effect, as Wade has been held hostage and Bob seems to be already brainwashed. These filings from what seems to be a VCR player are being controlled by Lunky, and Actor by proxy. Lunky seems to be the one who is controlling the broadcast stream itself, which is why we see Lixian come in through the “No Signal'' screen that has the same colors as Lunky’s aberration - HE’S fighting back his possession, and thus for brief moments interrupting Lunky’s hold on Bob.

While Wade seems to be placed under his will to say things, captured by Lunxian, Bob seems to accept Mark being real, acting like he’s in denial and being stubborn about it. I believe his behavior mirrors Abe’s from WMW, in that Actor is doing the same thing - implanting memories of things that never actually happened — a story.

And by the end, with Markiplier Is Real, Actor is attempting to do the same things to his fans in-canon, bookending the first Markiplier ISN'T real video so similarly to make us think it was all a joke.

But it isn’t, and this is shown through the bookended parallels made in Mark Is/Isn’t Real.

1. The manner of speech and the way they carry themselves - In the first video, as the video glitches, Markiplier has a slow smile that seems off for normal stuff. Also, the way he speaks "I need to focus on my attention on writing this project...also that's ok because I was never real in the first place" seems like a strange and blunt way of speaking. In contrast, in the "Markiplier is Real'' video, he seems a tad condescending, saying that we've "solved the mystery". This manner is very telling of Actor, especially with the nonchalant way he's trying to play it off, making it seem like nothing happened and everything's normal - covering up his true self.

2. The lighting - This was an interesting tidbit that we found bookended the two videos: the way lighting happens. In the first vid, the doors are closed, the lights are off. Not only making it LITERALLY DARK, but also implying that this is something secret. Something that CERTAIN PEOPLE shouldn't find out about. However, in "Is real", all the lights are on and the doors are open, completely contrasting the last video. This is Actor, wanting everyone to know that there's nothing wrong, he IS REAL, and also putting him in the best possible light. (See how it works on different levels?) And, indeed, despite this reassurance, through multiple ways in the past few weeks after MIR, the cracks have started to show.

Wilford was the last one left.

The others faded years ago, but he wasn’t quite sure how many. Not much point in keeping track of time when there’s nothing to live for. Nothing to look forward to. Nothing.

Mark kept his promise, he kept the channel up after he stopped making videos. That alone kept Wilford and the others around for a while. The fans still cared, after all.

But slowly, they started to lose interest. The weakest were the first to go, those who were only in one or two videos. Yandere, Bop, Bim, Ed, the Silver Shepard, they faded quickly. The Host lasted a bit longer, due mainly to the scope of his powers, but not by much, maybe a month longer than the other five. Dr. Iplier was next, and he spend his last moments bustling around the clinic, trying to cure himself. King, the Jims, the Googles, Bing, they were next. Soon, only Wilford and Dark remained, and then it was just Wilford.

The channel icon, Mark’s face with a pink mustache, Wilford’s face, was seen whenever someone scrolled through their subscription list. That was just barely enough to keep him alive. He was more of a ghost, really, barely corporeal and hardly visible unless he concentrated.

He never did anything anymore. He stopped trying to air Warfstache TV after Bim faded. He stopped leaving his room after Dark faded. There was nothing for him anymore, he was doomed to a lifetime of solitude that wouldn’t end until the last of Mark’s subscribers was gone and there was no one left to see his face.

It was unbearable.

He hated every second of this miserable life.

Silent.

Alone.

“Hey, you remember this dude?”

“Oh yeah, we used to spend hours watching his stuff.”

—–

Someone was watching Mark’s videos.

Someone was watching his interviews. For the first time in ages, he felt the power of having an audience, even if it was only one or two people reminiscing.

He left his room for the first time since Dark faded, praying to whatever was listening that they would watch the other egos videos, too.

He looked in each room as he walked down the hall, hoping beyond hope to see someone inside. He checked the Google’s room first, knowing that “Google Gets an Upgrade” was at the top of the live action playlist.

——

“Hey, is that Markiplier?”

“Yeah!”

“Shit, I haven’t watched him in years, mind if I join?”

—–

“Googs?” His voice cracked from disuse. “Googs, you in here?”

Nothing.

He checked room after room, still feeling the power of having active viewers. They were still watching.

Every room was empty. His voice echoed uncomfortably through each one. He started to lose hope. Obviously one or two viewers wouldn’t bring the others back, and while he had realized that as he walked through the hall, he just couldn’t keep himself from checking for the others.

“Oh hey, check out this series, it’s one of my faves.”

“‘A Date with Markiplier’ ?“

“Yeah, take the horror movie route.”

—-

He finally reached Dark’s office at the opposite end of the hallway, and opened the door with trepidation. He probably wouldn’t be here either, no one else was.

“Holy shit, hot demon dude.”

“Dark was always my favourite uh, what were they called? Egos? Yeah. He was my favourite.”

“Any more vids of him?”

“Hell yeah.”

As soon as he opened the door, his ears started ringing.

“Dark?”

The ringing got louder. Granted, it was still faint, but it was increasing in volume, bit by bit.

Wilford walked into the room slowly, not really believing the ringing was Dark. Why would it be? He was probably hallucinating.

Then he heard him.

"Wilford?”

This is my Wilford Warfstache cosplay from Saturday at Anime North Texas this year! I had so much fun wearing this! I had so many people recognize me and the mustache was probably my favorite part about the costume (well maybe after the suspenders :p) (also, I tried so hard to find the yellow shirt, but this pink one fit the general bill and since I started working on this two weeks before the con, I couldn't be too picky xD) Ok story time and maybe no one will care about reading this, but in case this makes it to Mark I wanted to share my thoughts~ So I've loved Warfstache since I learned about him from the interview with Markiplier vid and have been wanting to pull together a Warfstache cosplay together for YEARS but never really had the initiative or talent to do so, so it just got pushed to the side and forgotten. That is until I watched Who Killed Markiplier? and re-found my love for Warf and now had the talent and knowledge to pull together a costume! The past month for me has been really rough mentally and physically and watching Mark is usually one of the things I watch after work to relax, destress and forget about the potential mildly mild depression(?) I think I might be currently dealing with. So when it came time to decide what cosplays I wanted to wear to my upcoming convention, Warf was one of the first to pop into my mind since I'm still so fixated on this amazing universe Mark's created for us. I've been a fan for years (only a subscriber for a couple months cause I just got a YouTube account recently) and Mark's videos brought me so much joy with how humble he is and funny and entertaining he is and just how much he cares about his community. Of course I know it's not a requirement to contribute, but I started feeling kinda guilty for not contributing to this amazing community, so thinking on it, cosplay is a passion of mine and Markiplier is also another passion of mine, so why not combine them? @markiplier if you're reading this, I want you to know how happy you make me with your videos, playthroughs or not, and how much you've influenced my life. I was gonna write you a long sappy message anyway when I posted my pictures, but after seeing that emotional thank you video the other night, I was in tears and felt so inspired to show you how proud of you /I/ was! I'm so proud of you, Mark! You've come so far and I'm so proud of you for finding what you want to do and what makes /you/ happy. It makes me so happy you stay true to yourself, even if you have to take a break or back off on uploading things. As much as I'd enjoy any video you produce, I enjoy it more knowing that you yourself were proud of the content and enjoyed making it~. You're always thanking us for making your channel what it is, but it's also you and your genuine content that make it so amazing~. So since I can't really draw to make fan art or anything like that to give you, I hope my cosplay brings a smile to your face and reminds you of how happy you make me (well, probably a lot more people than just me) and how proud I am of everything you've done so far. I'm so excited to experience your journey for the future! Thank you so much for being there when we need someone and for just being you, Mark!

Heyyyy so I love Mark and Jack's videos but I've seen so many things about their multiple personalities and I'm... I'm so confused 😅 Is there any way to briefly explain their personalities or are there videos they made that will explain it? And how much is fandom headcanon and how much is "canon"? Thanks :)

Hey! Wow, this is kind of a big question, ahah. Mark and Jack have quite a lot of ‘egos’ and some of them have a longer history than others.

I’ll attempt to give a brief summary of the most prominent / well-known egos. At the bottom, I’ve linked to a really helpful masterpost with every video where each character has appeared!

Markiplier:

Wilford Warfstache is a bizarre, trigger-happy reporter/journalist who tends to leave a trail of bodies wherever he goes. His signature pink mustache has been part of Mark’s logo and brand for a long time. He first appeared in 2012 in some comedy sketches where he was interviewing Slenderman. He has since interviewed the Phone Guy from FNAF and Markiplier (who he killed mid-interview but seemed not to comprehend that he did so). There are also two sketches centered around his character, “The Warfstache Affair” and “The Ned Affair,” which could be seen as a backstory.

Darkiplier actually began as a fan theory / fandom-created character after Mark made some uncharacteristically creepy videos (’don’t blink’, ‘don’t move,’ etc). Since then, fans would speculate and add to his fanon anytime Mark seemed to act darker than usual. He has always been seen as Mark’s evil alter-ego, though specific theories varied wildly. Over time, Mark himself became aware of the character and disliked him at first, even making a video mocking the idea of Dark as just an edgy emo. After that, though, he decided to seriously take the character into his own hands, and he produced “A Date With Markiplier,” which includes a Darkiplier route. To sum him up, he’s Mark’s opposite in every way: 100% manipulative, controlling, terrifying, angry, and pretty much the worst asshole you’d ever have the misfortune of meeting. It should also be noted that he doesn’t control Mark, but is his own being. He’s merely taken his shape because he envies the influence and audience Mark has and wants that kind of power for himself. (All of this has been confirmed by Mark during a livestream.)

Googleplier / GoogleIRL is essentially a Google device in humanoid robot form, with an insatiable hunger to destroy mankind. He was originally Matthias’ idea. “Google IRL” and “Google Gets an Upgrade” are the vids you’ll want to watch.

The Author was the main villain in a two-part Cyndago series titled “Danger in Fiction.” Whatever The Author wrote or narrated would happen, and he used his powers to control real, living people until his characters fought back.

The Host was the Author, but he is now blind and softly narrates to himself. Mark said in one comment that the Author changed his name when he realized he was only a spectator to the events around him. Almost nothing is known about him or how he became this way. Any ideas you see going around about him are pure speculation / fanon.

Bim Trimmer, Dr. Iplier, Ed Edgar, and Silver Shepherd are all “minor” egos that each have their own origin sketch. These, along with the four “big” personalities mentioned above, all appeared in Markiplier TV a few months ago. This is the first time we’ve seen multiple egos interact with each other in a big way, and Mark has said there is more to come. As with the Host, much of what you see on tumblr is fanon since we don’t have a whole lot to go on.

Jacksepticeye:

Antisepticeye is to Jack what Darkiplier is to Mark, an evil alter-ego. He also originated in the fandom, because one evil Youtuber wasn’t enough I guess :P It wasn’t until last year that Jack started to own the character himself. In October, he started adding strange glitches/edits in videos and dropping hints on social media with more and more frequency until Anti made a full appearance on Halloween in “SAY GOODBYE”. He is chaotic and corrosive; I don’t think he has a body of his own but is more like a virus who exists only online. There are some more popularly accepted headcanons, some of which Jack has confirmed, but there’s much we still don’t know about this character. (I have a feeling Jack scrolls the tags and reads through theories until he goes “ooh, I’mma use that!” haha) Recently, Jack’s been hinting more and more at Anti returning (or that he has already returned in some way), much to the terrified excitement of the fandom.

Henrik von Shcneeplestein / Dr. Schneeple is a surgeon who is really bad at his job tbh (’: it’s been theorized recently that Anti has controlled or corrupted him in some way.

Chase Brody was originally a satire of youtubers like Dude Perfect (see “Teabag Edition | Bro Average”), but he and Dr. Schneeple have recently been at the center of some very concerning Anti theories. here is an amazing post summing up what’s been going on with both of them, though it’s 3 weeks old and more has happened since.
