Food for thought: If we got Gen 5 remakes that might mean COMPETITIVE TRIPLE AND ROTATION BATTLES

So I had a realization. Yeah I'm not shutting up about Unova yet, moving on to DD's Theory Corner.
In the event we get a Legends Unova or similar, I'm pretty damn sure Charizard could be the fire type starter, or at least get a variant or new form.
"Oh but it has enough forms" and? Charizard is Game Freak's favorite little nepo baby. He even got a new model way ahead of the other Kanto starters again recently.
This is what makes me think so:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the thing: someone at Game Freak has been going back through the Unova games for even the slightest bit of text or reference- evidence is the way you encounter Meloetta with the Sepia Filter on your camera in Indigo Disk, a reference to the guy in that Castelia cafe that says he saw Meloetta in "sepia tone memories." Another thing is the near 1 to 1 mapping of the pokemon reserve from BW2 that matches a location in the Canyon Biome, where you can find a shiny Haxorus in BW or a Stellar Haxorus in Blueberry Academy- further proof they are fine combing the games for references at this point.
If we're simply theorizing and speculating, I think that drawbridge might be a pretty likely description to draw inspiration from. Much like how Archaludon draws inspiration from the Sky Arrow Bridge connecting Pinwheel Forest to Castelia.
Here's another thing: the bridge is redder than your average Charizard, more of a Charmeleon color. In addition, it's referred to as such for its "beauty and elegance."
Tumblr media
I understand beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but elegance? Charizard doesn't strike me as beautiful or elegant, more like powerful, cool, and ferocious. Something like that description could fit something like Serperior better, imo.
Now mind you I'm not one of those people that are like "THIS NPC SAID SHE WANTED A PINK POKEMON WITH FLOWER PATTERNS IN GEN 1!!!! THEY WERE HINTING AT MUNNA FOR 5 GENERATIONS!!!!" or "THERE'S TERA CRYSTALS IN DRIFTVEIL! THEY WERE HINTING FOR 15 YEARS!!!!" because let's be honest, GF does NOT plan that far back. Maybe 4 years at best.
BUT.
It is entirely reasonable to speculate that, in accordance to the knowledge that they are actively looking back at the Unova games for the slightest details, Charizard COULD have another new form, either in the form of a Legends Starter variant or a similar case to Blood Moon Ursaluna. If I had to guess, maybe the form of an Eastern dragon akin to Shenlong? Those are beautiful and elegant to some extent.
Of course this is just pure speculation. But, let's say on Pokémon day, or even next November or January of 2025 or something: If we see Unova and Charmander in the same location, well pick up the phone cuz I will have called it.

Me reasoning out that when the gen 5 remakes will come out.
Firstly there has been a rough 3-5 year gap between all the remakes thus far.
FRLG (2004) -> 5 yrs -> HGSS (2009) -> 5 yrs -> ORAS (2014) -> 4 yrs -> LGPE (2018) -> 3 yrs -> BDSP (2021)
This is not a set in stone trend as of yet. Especially since LGPE is a debatable inclusion since, while it appears to be a remake of pokemon yellow the gameplay is drastically different and it's canonocity is... Shaky to say the least. Besides that you have Legends Arceus which, while people like to think of it as a remake, functions much more as a standalone entry into the series, has significant gameplay alterations, but is functionally canon as far as we know.
So not a solid thing there but it's something.
We also have how long it was between each remake and their respective original.
RB (1996) -> 8 yrs -> FRLG (2004)
GSC (1999) -> 10 yrs -> HGSS (2009)
RSE (2002) -> 12 yrs -> ORAS (2014)
Ylw (1998) -> 20 yrs -> LGPE (2018)
DPP (2006) -> 15 yrs -> BDSP (2021)
From here we can see that the amount of time between initial release and remake has increased a lot over time, and not just in a matter of a few years either. Even if you drop LGPE as an outlier, there's still a tendency to wait at least a decade after initial release to try at a remake.
Now
The original Unova games, pokemon black and white, were released in Japan in 2010. It has been at least 13 years since their initial release and 2 years since the last remake.
I therefore theorize that we could get a Unova remake (if we get one at all) sometime between 2024 - 2026 OR even 2030 depending on how much of an outlier you consider LGPE to be.
And this is assuming that nintendo will even have the games remade at all, given they seem to have drifted from remakes over time and only "remade" diamond and pearl our of a sort of marketing expectation.
But there you are. That's my (very rough, uninformed, extremely speculative) theory.
Tell me what you think.

Why is anyone hoping to see Unova remakes on Pokémon Day? Ignoring the Let's Go games, there's been this pattern:
Gen 3 - (Gen 1) FireRed/LeafGreen
Gen 4 - (Gen 2) HeartGold/SoulSilver
Gen 6 - (Gen 3) Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire
Gen 8 - (Gen 4) Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl
We're most likely getting Unova whenever Gen 10 rolls around.
Putting aside arguments about graphics and quality and whatnot, this leaves me wondering how they'd treat Unova remakes. The story's split in two. Or is it four? Would we get Black and White paired with their respective sequels? Could we play the sequels without engaging with the prequels? Or would they remake the first pair and leave B2/W2 in the past?
It'd be wrong to have B/W by themselves.

I think with the new DLC drop we can pretty much confirm there’s gonna be a Gen 5 remake 👀
-The story takes place at Blueberry Academy, which is in Unova
-Most if not all of the Gen 5 Pokemon are available to catch now with the expanded Pokedex, which makes it an easy transfer back and forth from HOME to the remakes
-Also there’s a specific separate event to catch Meloetta, who is a Gen 5 mythical 🤔
-This probably has to do more with the fact that Blueberry Academy is in Unova, but a lot of the main battle themes in The Indigo Disk have some sort of Gen 5 motif in their soundtracks somewhere
-Castelia City is available as a playable soundtrack in the League Club room!!
-ALSO you can change the club room’s theme to a BW themed one (the monochrome theme). There’s tons of references around the room of Unova locations, like White Forest, Black City, and the ferris wheel in Nimbasa!
-The secret boss of Blueberry Academy (SPOILERS) is Cyrano, who gives you a SHINY BLITZLE when you beat him
If we don’t get a Gen 5 remake within the next year I will be VERY shocked bc they are NOT being subtle about it. I for one have been waiting for this for years, they’d better not fuck it up I s2g

Tbh I don't know if I'd even want Unova remakes if they'd be as "faithful" as BDSP was to DPPt.
BDSP was basically just a 3D version of Diamond and Pearl. It included nothing significant from Platinum (besides the alternate forms for Rotom/Shaymin/Giratina), and the only really new thing they added was the Grand Underground. While I got enjoyment out of it, it wasn't nearly as fun as Platinum, which came out over a decade prior.
Plus Gen 5 had the last 2D/pixel core series games (and the best imo), which I feel is really noteworthy. Would we really want something that doesn't even try to capture that look and feel?

Back on my Unova copium. I still think we're going to go back there in a fully dedicated game for it.
"But there's already so much Unova in Indigo Disk!"
While true, I bring counters:
1. It's not Unova. It's "in" Unova, sure, but we're not in Undella or Castellia or Nimbasa or anything like that. Not to mention that we have characters connected to Unova and characters referenced from Unova, but none actually from there like Burgh, Clay, etc.
2. There's still a bunch of Unovan Pokémon not available in Scarlet and Violet, let alone Blueberry Academy. You can't honestly call this the "Unova remake" when we're still missing them. I mean the Pan and Simi monkeys still aren't in any Switch game.
3. There are a lot of Unovaisms that feel a bit too on the nose, yes, but if you'll recall Ultra Sun and Moon, the same was said for Kanto. Team Raimbow Rocket, the Pikachu village, the Vermillion Gym knock off, Red and Blue themselves, Gladion goes to Kanto, etc. And then what did we get the following year? Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee.
Is it too soon? Yeah, ngl. I'm actually afraid of ILCA screwing up again.
But this feels way too on the nose for them not to follow through on it. Again, you have to ask "Why Unova?" If it truly means nothing.
Sure it could be nothing, but it'd be a bunch of potential just wasted if they didn't, not to mention the idea just prints money.
Anyway I'm hoping for a Legends Unova game of some kind. I really am. I heard Jubilife Village's theme and Castellia city's theme- oddly enough in the same album next to each other in the League Club music list- and I just crave that unfamiliar familiarity of fear, coziness. and excitement again that I got from Legends Arceus and Black and White 2.
