Just randomly remembered an incident in 5th grade where a sub mentioned she'd spent her summer in, like, the Caribbean. Somewhere that was extremely exotic to 10-year-olds. I would love to hear her side of that. Like... was there some serious personal life stuff that made her overreact? Did she really hate substitute teaching and was already in a bad mood? What was her logic behind yelling at ten-year-old me

Because I stand by my logic from then, once I'd calmed down enough to think about it- it doesn't matter if she worked hard for her vacation. I was ten. I could be the hardest-working ten-year-old on Earth, and it is still quite unlikely that a vacation would manifest itself. A vacation you bled to earn and a vacation handed to you on a silver platter are both equally unobtainable to a child who cannot buy plane tickets.

Like I get being annoyed if a peer said what I said, I acknowledge that that's a response you save for friends, not strangers... But I've done stuff teaching summer art classes for a few days, and while that's obviously a big leap from regular school subbing* not once was I tempted to raise my voice in anger. What is the end goal of yelling at a child, exactly? What was going on in her life that led her to that?

*(in some ways harder, since I was the one lesson planning and there were Many things that could go wrong and result in stains/injuries if my gang of 4-15 year old kids was supervised too lightly, but easier because literally every kid I've ever met would rather play with rhinestones than learn math and even the kids who were obnoxious I had to deal with for One week)

Hunter's gotten FOUR hairstyles -- all of which showed up in Thanks To Them, Amity's had the dye fade/grow out of her hair with both colors she's had, and both Luz & Camila let theirs go curly and gray instead of straightening/dying it anymore, so toh crew please give us Lilith's roots grown out. Her hair has already started to get curly again, if her roots showed too that'd be the complete peak to her char design growth arc

i dont wanna be this person but im just saying like the first thing isnt actually bad outside of the context of like a fundamentalist theocracy where they want private schools in order to like not teach about evolution or whatever.. it just kind of rubs me the wrong way seeing this as #1 for many reasons but like in a christian dominant society most secular education IS implicitly christian and like a supportive environment & education about their background etc has proven positive outcomes for religious minority children ..and if those schools are going to exist anyway then requiring them to be privately funded and thus fee-paying is like, denying the privilege to those who need it most.  lots of like very normal well-adjusted people choose to send their kids to faith schools for allll kinds of reasons including stuff like, to not get bullied for being jewish or not to have to worry about accessing halal school meals. and im sure that this legislation will not be used to fund any religious minority schools any time soon so like to present this as though the concept of publicly funded faith schools is inherently as bad as denying medical care to prisoners, rather than like emphasising that its another element in the specific right wing christian information control machine, is like................ why are we doing that .........also i have to say the worst thing you can do if you want to prevent like corruption in religious schools or w/e is make them private & fee paying whereas a state religious school is required to equip its students with all the same learning and skills and experiences etc as a secular school but just from within a faith background so its like um tbh id rather the government pays to fund a school where they sing hymns in assembly sometimes than like let the mormons set up a boarding school or something. disclaimer this is coming from a UK background and our school system is kind of specific esp wrt private schools so like there might be intricacies between the US and UK systems that differ but my point is ultimately that 1. faith schools SHOULD be publicly funded and 2. painting faith schools inherently as like part of a fascist nightmarescape is a little unfair to the huge benefits they do provide to minority religious children, who are incidentally not going to benefit from this legislation i imagine

every once in a while i think about that one interview where the creators of dhmis said that yellow guy was the only character capable of actually exploring the world. it makes me think a lot. especially about the big boys.

sometimes i think that maybe red guy and duck got stuck in the big boys rooms because of how bitter they are. in the creators own words, yellow guy is the only one in the group that is willing to actually look into things without being overly cynical about everything. red guy and duck slowly give in to the world, they slowly lose faith in being good people and see no reason to be good at all. they lose their hope for anything better. they eventually end up with a “this is as good as it gets” attitude. this is why i think there isnt a big version of yellow guy. because yellow guy NEVER thinks like that. with or without his batteries yellow guy doesnt think like the other two. they think too negatively to even consider a positive outcome, while yellow guy, as bonkers as he usually is, has a more reasonable look at things because he isnt miserably bitter

i know that the big boys recognize yellow guy when he walks in, i think the bigger boys even asked him where he had been or something like that. “we’ve been waiting for you” or something. i dont think this implies that yellow guy has a big counterpart, i think this is a callback to what yellow guy said earlier in the episode. he had a whole conversation about how the other two “arent in charge of him” despite what they may think. red guy and duck think that yellow guy will go along with anything they do. if they get bigger they expect yellow guy to as well. it might be because they view him as stupid, or it could be because they’re always stuck together so they assume he’ll be apart of everything they do, but either way they expect him to give up on the world like they do. but he doesnt. no matter what happens, yellow guy has the childhood wonder and curiosity that red guy and duck are too grouchy and old to have. thats why he finds the book, thats why he knows what he does and asks what he asks, not because of the batteries, but because hes kind. red guy and duck destroy themselves and each other. they think theyre sooo fucking smart but theyre literally doing nothing. just sitting around in rooms. but yellow guy has hope despite everything. i dont have faith that theres anything better in the dhmis world. honestly, im pretty sure in the same article i was mentioning earlier (although it could be a different one) its mentioned that the audience want yellow guy to be happy but he “NEVER will be”. and the transport episode really drives home (haha get it) the idea that theres really nothing better outside of the house. so even me as an audience member has lost faith, just like red guy and duck, but yellow guy hasnt and thats so sad to me. theres a part of me that wishes so bad that he’s right, that there really is something better, but as the creators said, there never will be

This will be a controversial statement. Me personally, i dont really honestly care? About what he said? It was eight years ago and he hasnt repeated the actions so i dont honestly and truly care what he did eight years ago, he was 19 then hes like 26 now theres honestly and truly a BIG maturity distance between 19 and 26, but also it was. Eight years ago? Thats all i have to say on that?

I Also dont really care for how it was brought to light, from what ive heard from pt speakers the expose was done by someone whos publicly anti towards the Brazilian CCs and ive heard they've dug up some dumb things about pac that werent "hot" enough to get trending i guess and definitely werent condemnable enough to get him cancelled, so it's honestly and truly in my heart something i see as being done in bad faith.

Alongside this, ive seen translation screenshots from one of the "victims" (not sure her stance on being called this so its in quotes) stating she does NOT want to be aligned with these allegations and has changed her username and profile picture because she honestly doesnt wanna be involved and doesnt want it being spread around, this is something else i view as bad faith and if anyone was affected by this then its the best thing to do as they wish, this not only affects the person being called out but also their victim negatively, especially if the victims profile is easily attached to their real life and especially when the victim is a female victim of assault or rape or anything like that, i hate to say it but as an afab person ive seen it firsthand that thats honestly the culture surrounding assault victims, and most people dont want that being brought up or put out in the public. Im a victim myself - people view you differently, it affects platonic and romantic relationships, it affects jobs, you are actively hurting the victim by spreading this if they dont want you to do so and arent prepared for that to be spread around.

From what ive seen, some people are condemning Forever for getting a lawyer - i dont view this as him being automatically guilty. I view this as him getting a lawyer because this person on twitter has been actively harassing not just him but all the brazilian CCs on the QSMP. This is harassment, the case against them will hold up in court and Forever has said he will speak about this more when everything is said and done

Alongside this, i will say im unhappy with Forever specifically for his statement on the situation. It wasnt handled the way we wouldve liked it, but it also wasnt handled via ukelele, it wasnt handled the worst way it could've been. Ive heard pt speakers say it was kind of formal, there was some slang in there but overall i've read the translated statement and to me it sounds more like a legal statement than anything - he mentioned having a lawyer, chances are the lawyer helped him write it. To me it doesnt sound like anything he'd fully say which is why i was so put off by it at first but this makes more sense to me honestly, i dont know if anyone would agree with this.

TL;DR

All in all, i think its a shitty situation but nothing to condemn Forever over. I ask people be thoughtful regarding the girl affected, and dont spread shit around with her name or profile attached to it unless she states otherwise. It was handled badly on Forever's end and blew up WAY too fast on twitter.

I've generally seen people be well behaved on here, ive seen some strong statements but otherwise i like to think we're better than twitter.

I think it’s possible to recognize that Rhaenrya was a victim of sexism while recognizing that she was also a brutal tyrant. I think we can say that Rhaenrya was a victim of the patriarchy but also someone who responded to her treatment by lashing out at everyone around her, especially those below her. Calling for the assassination of Nettles, a black teenage girl, isn’t an act of solidarity and feminism.

I agree. I agree that the blood purity she performs and uses is a feature of her heritage that she actively & consciously chooses but I do not know for certain that she'd suspect the dragonseeds if she hadn't had to emotionally gather herself only to lose not one, not two, but three kids to the stresses of usurpation. Ordering Nettles' execution is definitely a reflection of that Targ-Andal blood purity.

What I protest against are the ideas that:

Rhaenyra's tyranny later is told to have been inevitable without the greens' intervention or any instigation (I don't even care about Vaemond's death, he was just looking to endanger her kids/her for his own ambitions, like the greens. "Fair" play and he was going against the not unfair declaration Viserys made)

that there was no instigation or provocation; her reaction doesn't make sense (in a sense)

a woman has to show that she is capable of ruling because the history of male rulers makes her obligated to show "girls can do it, too" -> that it's justified to expect her to be above-average just because she happens to be the first up-and-coming Queen Regnant in ("united") Westerosi history -> -> to expect a woman to "prove" to a misogynist base (I mean specifically the other lords or even some of her male relatives) her worth and fitness to rule is coming from the context of women being kept from rulership that is both supported and reaffirms the idea that female authority = unnatural condition for women... (HERE is a post by mononijikayu explaining the progression and origins of the gender divisions in medieval Europe)

that being in the middle of a civil war that she did not start, having had the royal treasury bled out, that the rumormongering done by a hidden master of whispers and later the fear-mongering rhetoric of a seemingly mad version of Savonrola ARENT something that no other monarch ever had to deal with & WASN'T an extreme and volatile situation that even Jaehaerys would have much trouble with (I must remind people that Jaehaerys would have had a lot more problems without Alysanne and Septon Barth and Rogar Baratheon AND there was no agent working against him behind the shadows nor did he lose a child out of his own actions and unfairly until his much older age [Aemon], and that was only one NOR was it out of actual hate towards his person! or a belief that genitals "prove" he shouldn't rule)

and tons of other lies I don't even want to get into

In other words, there are a lot of bad-faith arguments that just wind up as being misogynist, so where do we move on if we're hung back?

Once more, Rhaenyra was never herself a feminist BOTH because there is no such thing as feminists in real/fictional medieval settings AND because she never consciously and intentionally sought to better other women's lives. The reason why we look at her story as a story of feminism is because as a woman, even just sitting on the throne provides enough precedent and justification for other women to claim and keep their seats (Jeyne Arryn, and other women and girls in even pre-Targ history who has lost the opp to rule)--and who knows, if she had been allowed to live and rule, actually consider instituting some laws for women either of her own inspiration or persuaded. Thus setting Westerosi towards a more woman-included political framework. Even though misogyny wouldn't disappear, the sentiment of women being bad or incapable or even just "unlucky" types of rulers wouldn't be as strong or as justified or more easily countered.

Plus, if I do not explain why it is important to understand Rhaenyra as a person affected by others and society, looking for agency, then the idea of a woman doing evil as being the blueprint of evil itself actually makes it worse for women in general. Because it fosters the connection between womanhood and evil or "unnaturalness" or the unnaturalness of gender-nonconformity of any kind. This is one-way progress even happens, Westerners still do not live in a utopia for women, anon. But Western (and some countries in Africa and Asia) women have a safer bet now than they did in ancient Greece, Japan, etc., or 200 years ago in U.S. history.

Once more, no one has to actually think Rhaenyra is a good person or even like her. She absolutely commits evil and there are other women in the dynasty who perform less or none (none or without their own faults but most [before the loss of dragons] display a lot of intelligence or autonomy-seeking) Just watch out for why you don't like her and what you think characterizes that evil, the events surrounding it, what inspires her, and all those implications. And recognize that good fiction doesn't ask you to name a good person based on your already-conceived notions of good vs evil, but to see the characters' development and role in the narrative and how their roles/lives/contentions mirror our own.

Aegon is a person born into a royal family with incumbent supreme power and he uses it against women and children (Aemond, too, but being a second son never he will not have the same access to power as his older brother, thereby there is a level of frustration that he himself nurtures). Rhaenyra is born into a world that consistently takes from women to give to men, and even her own family has a history of sidelining its women to affirm their men's power over them and Westeros. GRRM is asking us what does to women, how it makes them retreat into themselves and develop their methods of self-defense, or how she chooses to gain back some agency? How far or how little can she (the woman, not just Rhaenyra) go to gain power or agency, and once she gets past a certain point that she can't even see because she is so inured into a state of self-defense, how can she "come back" from that? Is there even room for it? And what does that do to men like Aegon & Aemond or even common-born men (who also abuse their wives, daughters, etc.) -- encourage them to perform violence against women and children?

So honestly, this back and forth about Rhaenyra being a bad ruler or just about her tyranny and paranoia is less interesting to me bc it is NOT THE ENTIRE POINT and it's boring as heck!!! (Unless we talking abt the progression into Dany's leadership & her own textual defiance of gender binaries)

21. part of canon you think is overhyped

not to sound like an edgelord but. the traveler. if we can acknowledge that the Darkness isnt ontologically Evil, i think we can (PLEASE) acknowledge that the Light isnt inherently good. and im not talking about the superpowers we get, they've (narrative team) made it quite clear that individuals choose to do what they will with based on their own morals. but the traveler is, imo, positioned as a Morally Good Agent Of The Light far more than the witness is Of The Darkness, and i think we need to talk more about the traveler's agenda!!! again, this complexity isnt completely absent from the narrative, but it doesnt feel like those interpretations are... metatextually supported igss? like zavala's frustration with the traveler leaving feels more like a very christian (as someone who was not raised religious) test of faith that zavala (and the canonical YW) have Passed and will be Rewarded.

Eddie and Chrissy were cute in concept but then it was brought to my attention that Chrissy is underage, she’s gotta be 16-17 while Eddie is 19-21 😬

first of all, i have a hard time believing this is from an actual reformed shipper and not just someone trying to covertly push their ideals but i'm gonna pretend this is in good faith.

these are the facts. they were in middle school together. american middle school lasts three years. eddie has been held back at least twice. combining these two facts, we know definitively that their age gap is 2-3 years.

we can also reasonably assume that chrissy is a senior, based on her necklace. the necklace says '86', the current year of the show. the most logical assumption is that 86 is her graduation year. there arent a lot of other reasons for a girl that age to own and wear a gold necklace with the current year on it. the time of year is spring, by which time all american high school seniors are minimum 17.

(unless they skipped a grade, which we have no evidence chrissy did, and frankly if you're headcanoning that just to make the ship creepy.... you're the creepy one)

that combined information makes their ages:

chrissy: 17-18 eddie: 19-21

two notable caveats:

these ages are relative to each other, and cannot be further than 3 years apart. it is not possible for chrissy to be 17 and eddie to be 21 at the same time. eddie is ONLY 21 if chrissy is 18.

it is EXTREMELY unlikely eddie is 21 at all. that would mean that hawkins high is sanctioning a 21 year old to stay in their school. that would be an extraordinary circumstance, and one i cant reasonably see being extended to trailer trash eddie, who looks and behaves the way he does.

if you're basing your assertion on chrissy's file, don't. it was most likely just an error, and a screenshot of a prop you have to csi enhance to see doesn't override the things that have been written into the show with the explicit intent to indicate these character's ages. that's insane.

all together, their most likely ages are:

chrissy is 17, and eddie is 19-20. OR chrissy is 18, and eddie is 20.

in my country, and most countries, that is perfectly legal. notably, the age of consent in indiana is 16.

what's more, it's normal. i don't wanna be the prick that says touch grass but seriously you guys. get out in the world. a 2-3 year age gap is fine, and extremely common. teenagers date older teenagers all the time.

the problem comes when there is a significant maturity or development gap between partners. if your headcanon or read on these characters is that chrissy is a naive, childlike thing and that eddie is a fully grown and developed man who is preying on her, thats a you problem. you're mad at your own brain. that's not the canon, and it's certainly not my headcanon.

finally, it's not your job or your right to go around pushing your personal morality on other people. even if your assertions were true, which they are not, there's no possible interpretation of the canon in which this relationship would be illegal. so leave people the fuck alone. you don't have to like it! if it squicks you, that's completely valid. my recommendations would be to stay out of the tag, and unfollow me.

finally its really not that bad, i dont get hate anons often unless i post something spicy. people are generally nice and even if they disagree it'll be in good faith. ive had drama in the past but its mostly like mutual drama nonsense or vaguepostng or a stan who is feeling particularly emotional that day. cliques and weird relationships online are everywhere and its just part of human nature to be kind of bitchy and judgy sometimes. again Reorient the world. cohost looks interesting but im wary of some of the guidelines, I understand some leeway is always required around sensitive topics but i hesitate around anything that says "APPARENT" minors arent allowed in 18+ content with no further clarification about what decides they are or aren't, because """"minor-coding""" is such easy ammo in a lot of ship wars especially when it sounds like they'll be going off sight alone which is very prone to bias. Plus the fact its only art while writing just gets a "as long as its not rpf" is a bit strange. I would prefer full transparency in how staff handles those cases, because sometimes, someone is just kinda short and thats enough to get people arguing about being minor-coded.

not the biggest fan of the mandatory tags not including something like "seizure warning" and instead things like "loli" and also the forced hiding of anything with mandatory tag from any searches unless specifically searching for that tag, I think the ideas of mandatory tags isnt a bad one but im a bit wary of how its being implemented.

also not the biggest fan of "repeatedly following users or sharing or liking their posts in order to pester them with notifications;" spam clause because as a blog diver, its not uncommon for me to suddenly burst like and reblog a blog because im trying to grab a lot of stuff from them and i dislike the thought it could get me banned

beyond that though those are my biggest gripes. Definitely so much better then a lot of alternatives, and i do love how they've put inclusion to trans people and the like directly into the TOS. I'm curious to see how it will go and I have more faith in it then I certainly did to pillowfort, but for now I'll just stay keeping an eye on it

The story of a witch named Mika Moon, who is part of a coven, as she likes to call them "the very secret society of irregular witches".

She receives an email, asking her to travel to Nowhere House and be the magic mentor to 3 young witches, Altamira, Terracota and Rosetta.

In this house is where the real story begins, as we meet a colorful cast of character to whom I grew very attached to :') an elder couple; Ian kubo-hawthorn the over the top retired actor, and Ken his hella patient husband. Lucie the very sweet housekeeper. Jamie the grumpy librarian. And my favorite, the 3 orphan young witches who will accidentally burn the house if they arent taught to control their magic.

This book features the grumpy/sunshine trope, executed to perfection between Jamie and Mika. It is a little bit of a slow burn as the main plot unfolds, but once they both open up it will melt your heart.

"Its a leap of faith to love people and let yourself be loved. Its closing your eyes, stepping off a ledge into nothing, and trusting you'll fly rather than fall"

Mika's main struggle is the feeling of loneliness. As growing up an orphan herself, she continuously struggled throughout the book with the lack of belonging, having no place to really call home. Each page turn feels like a warm hug as Mika figures out that Nowhere house is her true home, with ian, ken, lucie, and the 3 girls.

There is a twist at the last third of the book that injects some fun and mystery to the plot. It is a very comforting read, mystical and whimsical, and quite funny too.

AH! MIKA HAS A DOG CALLED CIRCE! if you love dogs, this is for you.

Im giving it 4.2 stars out of 5. I loved this book and will be part of my comfy shelf, however im not the biggest fan of the grumpy/sunshine trope (unless the sunshine one is the guy) and there is a short steamy scene, which im not super comfortable with spicy bits in general so it was easily skippable for me. I just personally wanted more of the magic and sparkle and potions and moondust.. aside from that, FLAWLESS.

Is you're not bothered by either of those 2 things, this will be an EASY 5 star for you!

i'm confused, whats making you think that were forgetting you? people are going to think your fine after time passes unless you want people to always think your in a constant state of something being wrong. you have to reach out for us to know, we cant read your mind.... i think you may have imposter syndrome… saying that were are are lying to you when we have nice things to say about your art and characters. like… deep down you think everyone is making up there care for you because you somehow dont believe you deserve it. like this comes from self hate. you but you have to remember, those are hateful thoughts that are sabotaging the love people do have for you, and is holding you back towards what uyo care about like your art.... Thank you for this long ask/venting. I guess I was indeed being a bit selfish and just not trusting others. Maybe I should really change up my attitude after all. I'll try my best to just stop thinking negativily and to just "enjoy" art, not being pressured about it. Thank you again for this. But I think for now, all I need is a bit of a break. But like, IDK if I would like to take a break since I would realllly be behind all the updates of other characters and all, so yeah, I'll just be less active here. But don't worry, I'll still be posting random stuff! So yeah-
