Watched Nimona last night and a thought occurred to me.
The knights’ armor doesn’t seem to be very protective against their swords. Bal’s arm is easily severed and we are led to believe that a stab through the stomach would not only be possible but would kill Ambrosius.
And yet. Characters wearing the armor survive a LOT. Ballister is beaten to hell and back by several incidents, random guards are tossed around without raising worries about their health (which Bal definitely would do if they were in real danger), and Todd survives his serious crash in the finale with major but recoverable injuries. It seems to be effective. It seems that it is protective, that it can shrug off damage that would be more dangerous to an unarmored person. But it’s utterly useless against their own swords.
The kingdom’s police force is wearing equipment that is clearly not meant for combat with an equal but protects against any weaponry a common citizen could wield. The knights are designed for oppression right down to their gear.

As summer turned to Autumn and the days got colder and shorter, Phoenix and Dawn found themselves shifting focus to their careers.
They both earned big promotions that led to higher stress and longer hours.
With less time to see each other during the week, they made the most of what small pockets of time they could… like their 15 minutes over coffee in the mornings.
Phoenix, who has been working for the San Myshuno Human Rights Commission, is now heading the Department for Housing and Community Development.
At first, he was excited and had big plans for the future of the city. Unfortunately, it seems the more power he is given to make a positive impact, the more he runs into roadblocks and red tape.
The stress and frustration started taking a toll.
To cope with the stress, he began spending more time in Mt. Komorebi where he’d go snowboarding with his friends the way he used to before Kiyoshi ever presented the idea of climbing the mountain.
Nothing like the rush of flying down the slopes and landing massive jumps to get your mind off things, I suppose.
Meanwhile, Dawn has been working for the Dreamer Foundation as an Event Planner. She organizes many of their fundraising events, and they’ve been doing so well that she’s started putting together more prestigious events for their larger donors. This, of course, comes with its own kind of stress and frustration.
Rather than take off for the mountains though, she felt like she needed to make time to slow down and breathe. So, she started getting into wellness activities like yoga and meditation.
Oh! Also, Atlas and Asher started coming over every Sunday to join them for dinner...
...and to watch the latest season of Somnium.
All four of them are now fully invested in the series.
(how could they not be with a genius creator like @rebouks)

ascensions lian
one of my favorite things about rereading tgcf is finding little bits of info where MXTX showcases how crazy strong xie lian is. like in the PROLOGUE we learn that if people trying to ascend fail their Heavenly Tribulations they either die or are (socially? physically?) ruined. like, nevermind the rigors of cultivating to ascension, the act of ascension itself is lethally dangerous.
and XIE LIAN
this motherfucker ascended for the first time IN HIS SLEEP. the second time he was so busy pummeling bai wuxiang that he didn't even notice it!!! what the hell!!! what the hell is this guy on and how do i get some

You know how they say that when you spend a lot of time with someone, you start picking up on their habits, language, etc.? Well, it looks like we can see this a bit with the KazuRei sticky notes. This may be unintentional, but let’s take a look:
Here is Kazuki’s first memo from Episode 1:
The handwriting is light, thin, and small. The sticky note is placed haphazardly onto the desk.
Rei’s first sticky note is from Episode 3:
His handwriting is thick, large, and dark. The sticky note is placed very neatly and centered on the desk, unlike the crooked nature of Kazuki’s.
Now, let’s take a look at their most recent sticky notes.
Here is Kazuki’s from Episode 7:
The handwriting is bigger, darker, and thicker. It doesn’t look 100% like Rei’s handwriting, but you can see more of a resemblance and influence there. The sticky note is also placed a bit more neatly on the table. Not as haphazardly as before.
And here is Rei’s from Episode 8:
The handwriting is smaller, thinner, and less dark. The sticky note is also placed rather crookedly on the desk. You can still tell that the handwriting is Rei’s, but you can see a bit of Kazuki’s influence and resemblance there too.

playing around with ken's main fit and i think i have it set, i'll def draw it digitally later!!! just to clarify the text there says "Left scissor blade/sword" cuz that is exactly what it is that is his weapon of choice
fun fact kenix and ken are supposed to wield the two sides to the time scissors (<-what those scissor blades make when are out together) as their weapons so kenix wields the right blade and ken wields the left blade

The glitching flower was
foreshadowing Kaufmo had
abstracted
This flower could actually be referencing a 'squinting flower' that some clowns wear. Kaufmo is a clown, and the flower we see is glitching through the floor. And what happens later? Kaufmo abstracts.
