What's your favorite DnD book? I love the lore heavy monster books like Volo's Guide! What about you? While you're at it, check out our Dad podcast, @twentysidespod! . . . . . #dnd #dnd5e #podcast #dungeonsanddragons #happynewyear #twentysides #podcasting #new #dndmemes https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm2k1LRLZ2q/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

One of the things I love most about fandom, is the ongoing discourse surrounding the media that we all hold dear. I have linked the ^^ video not because I agree with it, but exactly because I disagree with parts of it.
I would encourage you to watch it and then consider what I have to say partly as rebuttal.
The rough transition from ME2 to ME3 is the direct and ultimate consequence of the systemic failure of the leadership at BioWare, full stop.
ME2 doesn't mesh well with ME3, because it was not BioWare and EA's priority during ME3's development to make it as such. ME3 is gameplay over story, profits over creativity, and a harbinger of everything that was wrong within BioWare, that culminated in the utter failure that was Anthem.
ME2 as an art piece, was in opposition of everything that BioWare would for a time become. In what ways? --Let me explain.
ME2 conceptually works as the thematic opposite to ME1, making the two stories a duology of sorts, within the trilogy.
ME1 was about a hopeful humanity's emergence on the galactic stage as equals, not only because they wanted it to be as such, but because they were willing to stand arm locked with other species in defense of the galaxy against all threats, both from beyond and within.
ME1 was about a human, who assembled a team of the galaxy's best, so that they could fight against a traitor to all the peoples of the Milky Way, only to discover the terrible truth at the foundation of that betrayal.
ME2 was not about hope; it was instead about how to go on in the utter absence of hopefulness. It told the story not of the galaxy's best and brightest, but of the people that existed on the fringe, forgotten and/or rejected, but who were no less willing and able to risk all for others, even when the only thing that they were likely to receive in return, was certainly not to be redeemed or even recognized for the heroism inherent to their acts, but instead their own almost inevitable deaths.
As many in the fandom are no doubt aware, there are many great fan continuations that are far more worthy of calling themselves a sequel to ME2, than was ME3.
As a place to start, I would recommend the "For Tomorrow" series, by ElectricZ on AO3:
Shoutout to @twentysided on Youtube, both for their excellently made video, as well as their contribution to the ME fandom.

Seeing as you guys doesn't have another Patreon goal yet, a suggestion for another episode format. I know you guys prefer being positive with the game you're doing, so how about discussing how you guys would fix a game story that you hate with minimum change on the game content, something like the Overhaulout series on Twentysided Tales.
That’s a good idea but maybe for something shorter, like a segment on certain episodes. Maybe like a little chunk of “Here’s how I would do it” every now and then.
We’ll talk about it and see what we come up with.
