Reunion
Pairings: Daryl Dixon x teen!reader, Tyreese Williams x teen!reader, Carol Peletier x teen!reader, Judith Grimes x teen!reader (all platonic obviously)
Requested by Anonymous: when the prison fell you and Daryl got separated, this is how you meet up, based on this request
Warnings: mention of blood, fighting, mention killing walkers/zombies, killing people, Daryl hug (yes that’s a warning), knives, guns, mention of killing kids, Terminus, hopefully if you read this you’ve seen the episode and knows what it includes, but ya know typical twd stuff.
A/N did I accidentally write this way longer than I intended yes, yes, I did, now don’t get me wrong the moment where Tyreese defends Judith is iconic but for the sake of this fic I changed it up, kinda wanna make another part
For you who wants to know the episode is season 5 episode 1
Anyway I hope you enjoy this <3
Tumblr media
Judith giggled happily in your arms as you walked on the edge of the railway. You could’ve once imagined all kinds of trains going up and down the tracks as they blew past the trees, but now you couldn’t actually remember much about trains, you had the idea of them but not much details (and if a train were to come right now that would’ve been a miracle).
Tyreese walked a few steps behind you, with Carol in the front, as she led your group of four forward. She came to a stop when a sign that states “TERMINUS” showed up once more. It was your headed path, the sanctuary called Terminus. You personally didn’t trust it, not after the Governor, but you had to find Daryl and the rest of the group. You knew that if any of them were still alive they would’ve gone to Terminus after finding the railway. Which all of them had probably done. Along with finding Daryl you also had to get Tyreese and Judith to safety. Tyreese wasn’t fit to live on the road at the moment, he refused to kill anything that came your way leaving you and Carol to kill stray walkers, or animals for food. Judith, well, she was a baby and sometimes could be screaming all day, she was mostly quiet but the times she did cry was the times walkers got attracted. A baby was no way near fit to be on the road but here you were all of you somehow still alive (except for Lizzie and Mika Samuels, but there was no loss for you over Lizzie that’s for sure).
“We’re close” Carol stated as she saw the sign. “I’m gonna get you all there, make sure you’re safe, but I’m not gonna stay” She saw your face morph into disappointment as you nodded your head, a sad smile on your face. You’d missed her while she was gone and now she would be leaving again, and you didn’t like it, not one bit and you knew Daryl would be sad over it too which didn’t help the matter.
As you heard the rustle of leaves behind you in the forest, you all turned around to see two walkers stalk forward in your direction. Tyreese motioned with his hands to take Judith from you. Judith was carefully switched over to Tyreese and both you and Carol went forward to the walkers. Both of you killed them quickly only to notice the herd that was about to come out of the forest. Carol whispered to Tyreese that more were coming, and so all of you went into the opposite side of the railway. You hid in the forest until the walkers got distracted by shots firing not too far away from all of you.
Tyreese looked worriedly at you as he started to talk. “That gunfire it could’ve been from Terminus”
“Someone was attacking them, or they were attacking someone” Carol responded
“Do we want to find out?”
This time you involved yourself in the conversation, as you believed that you did indeed need to find out. “Yeah, we need to find out, If the others are there they might need help”
With that, and Carol's instruction of walking another track that would get you there as well you all started to walk once more, this time in need to find out the truth.
Your next stop had been outside a small worn out cabin, but it wasn’t the cabin that got your attention. What got your solely attention as you hid in the forest with your companions was the man that talked in a walkie-talkie. He was putting up a bunch of fireworks, no doubt to lead the herd of walkers away from Terminus. You could faintly hear him mention a woman with a sword, and you stopped Carol from going forward. As you continued to listen you heard him mention a kid with a hat and that was all you needed to go on. You didn’t think there were that many women with a sword and kid with a hat together nearby at the same time, so it didn’t take much to know that they were talking about Michonne and Carl. Nor did it take long to realize they had done something to your group, thereby also Daryl. Especially when he mentioned bleeding the kid out.
Carol slowly started to creep up behind the man and you followed not far behind. Tyreese more hesitant but still following. She put her gun toward his head, the young man froze and put his hands up still holding the two way radio. “Keep your finger off the button and drop it”
“Listen, ya’ll don’t have to do this. Whatever you want, we got a place where everyone’s welcome”
“Shut up man” it was what all three of you were thinking but Tyreese was the one to say it.
“Okay”
“We’re friends of the chick with the sword and the kid in the hat” Carol pressed the gun against his head forward, making the man lean forward as the gun touched his head.
It didn’t take long for you and Carol to tie him up and drag him (not so carefully) into the cabin leaning him against one of the walls. Throughout the whole ordeal the man continued to tell the three of you that you didn’t have to do this, that you could all come up with a deal, but he had no luck there.
As Carol made herself ready to scout Terminus out to see what was happening Tyreese continued to hold Judith in a protective embrace. You however had been asking the man questions, finding out that ever since the first questions he had been lying. He told you he only had Carl and Michonne, that they had both attacked them out of nowhere, that they were just protecting themselves. But none of you believed him. Not with the things you heard him talk about before you confronted him.
You would of followed Carol to Terminus had it not been for your will to protect Judith and Tyreese. As much as you loved Tyreese he wasn’t in his right mind. So you stayed to help if anything bad were to happen, to walkers coming your way or your prisoner getting free somehow, it didn’t matter you were there to protect your family. You only hoped Carol wouldn’t need any help.
Talking about your prisoner he was even more shatty when Carol left. Apparently a teenager, a baby and a man who he could clearly see wasn’t going to kill him was no threat to him. It was his undoing in the end. He underestimated you both and it showed in the way he talked to you and Tyreese as you sat by Judith, who’d you made a makeshift bed to.
“She got a name?… Hey, she got a name?”
“No” you answered at the same time Tyreese answered “Judith” you glared at Tyreese as he told the stranger her name, you didn’t want to give him any information, you never knew if it would backfire.
“She your daughter or something?”
“She’s a friend”
“Huh, I don’t have any friends… I mean I know people. They’re just assholes I stay alive with. The other one your friend, the woman” the younger man nodded towards the door that was now closed. Tyreese slowly looked away at the comment being conflicted about his answer. So instead you answered.
“Yes”
The man nodded and his voice that had now started to annoy you filled the room once more. “I used to have them… used to watch football on Sundays. Went to church” he let out a small laugh as if the thought of it was unbelievable. “I know, I did, but I can’t picture it anymore… it’s funny how you don’t even notice the time go by, horrible shit just stacks up day after day, you get used to it”
Tyreese turned his attention towards the man and spoke with distaste laced in his voice. “I haven’t gotten used to it”
"Of course you haven’t, you’re the kind of guy who saves babies, it’s kinda like saving an anchor, when you’re stuck on a boat-“ you had by know decided to drown out his voice as he tried to make justiciable to let him go.
Your thoughts got filled with Daryl like they had for the most time since the prison fell. You missed him. He always looked out for you. Ever since you met you were drawn to each other. Daryl used to pretend he hated you, especially when Merle was around he couldn’t have his brother think he was soft. However everyone knew he had always secretly looked out for you ever since he met you he’d felt the need to protect you. It came to the point that whenever you wanted to go on a run to get new supplies or do anything really you’d always ask Daryl. You had never spoken about it to each other but there was a silent agreement between everyone even you and Daryl that you were his kid and he your father. It might not be by blood but it was how it had come to be. Everytime something happened to you if you got hurt or if you were sad they’d always notify Daryl, but most of the time he already knew and would be with you to try and cheer you up in his own moody way. When you’d been out on the road before you found the prison you’d always sleep next to each other making sure the other one was safe. Even in the prison your cells were next to each other. He always looked out for you. He taught you how to hunt, he taught you how to use his crossbow, and to fight people to be able to protect yourself. Like Judith was “little asskicker”, you were the “big asskicker”. You couldn’t help but to miss him and the thought of him being hurt from the people in Terminus made your stomach hurt. You didn’t really want to voice your thoughts but you needed the reassurance and Tyreese was the only one who knew who Daryl was and could give reassurance. So against the warnings your mind gave you, you voiced your concerns.
“Do you think Daryl’s okay?” Your voice came out quieter than you expected as your mind filled with more scenarios in which Daryl had gotten hurt in.
Tyreese turned from Judith to look at you. He tried to give a reassuring look on his face as he answered. “I’m sure he’s fine Y/N”
”So Daryl’s your dad, maybe boyfriend” he continued to gues what Daryl was as you made no indication of actually giving anything away to him. After a while he stopped, he wouldn’t get anywhere with you, but he was still confident that if he talked enough to Tyreese would let him go.
“See, you’re a good guy, saving babies and teenagers.
“You have no idea about the things I’ve done”
“You’re a good guy, that’s why you gonna die today, it’s why the baby is going to die, why the Y/N is going to die” both you and Tyreese stood up taking an intimidating step towards the man, your knife pointed at him. “Or… you can get in that car, get out of here, keep on being lucky.”
“You think you’re gonna kill me?”
The man turned his sole attention to Tyreese as he answered him. “Why haven’t you killed me? How does having me alive help you? Why the hell are you even talking to me? Take the kids, take the car and go, I don’t want to do this today”
“For your information we could always use you to get more information or w e could kill you know, like you said we have-“ you got cut off by an explosion going off. Tyreese rushed to the window to see what was happening and saw the smoke over the forest.
“Is that Terminus?” The man moved forward as if trying to see out through the window but he had no luck in that department as he slouched back towards the wall.
“Yeah, probably”
“Maybe you’re gonna win this, maybe your friend, I mean maybe that woman just got capped, maybe I’m gonna be the one who gets capped when she comes back”
“Nobody’s got to die today”
“Man if you believe that… the it’s definitely gonna be you and the kids, even if the place is burning to the ground”
“Man maybe you can shut up and stop talking before I kill you myself” the man took his eyes of Tyreese to look at you as you had your knife pointed at him an annoyed look on your face. He didn’t believe for a moment that a teenager would be able to kill him, nor win in a fight against him. He had a way to high ego to think that you would be able to do any harm to him, he underestimated both you and Tyreese and when he heard as well as saw Tyreese look out at the walkers coming toward the cabin he moved quickly and soon enough his hands went to hold Judith in a hold that would be easy to break her neck.
He told you both to drop your weapons and you both did so not wanting him to hurt Judith. As he saw the walkers claw at the windows he looked towards Tyreese telling him to go outside. As Tyreese went outside he went over to you and bound your hands together with some spare rope just like you had done to him earlier. He made sure the knot would hold before he went I’ve r towards the wallow-talkie and tried to connect to the woman (apparently named Cynthia) on the other side.
While he did all that you tried to desperately tie up the knot that held the rope around your wrist together. Right as you were able to get rid of the rope around your wrist (thankful Daryl taught you how to do it) the noise from outside stopped. It became deathly quiet and the man looked towards were the last pounding against the walls had been. He took out his knife and was about to kill Judith when you quietly and quickly grabbed the knife that was laying right were you left it beside you on the floor and you ran over to the man. You saw red as you knocked him over, he had threatened to kill Judith and Tyreese. Threatened your sister and one of your closest friends. You knocked him towards the floor and your hand went into the air as you threw it down onto him repeatedly stabbing the knife in your hand into him. even after he was clearly dead.
Tyreese had to carefully walk over to you as he took the knife away from you. He told you that the man couldn’t hurt them anymore nor the walkers, everything would be okay. You appreciated his comfort as you hyperventilated for a few minutes over the fact that you’d just killed a human. You’d killed walkers before but never a human being. In your mind it was justified as he was about to kill all of you anyway, but you still felt like you’d lost something inside of you.
It was a while later when you glanced out of the window and saw Carol as she walked towards the cabin, Rick not that far behind. You broke out in a relieve laugh as a smile spread briefly over you lips, this made Tyreese glance out towards where you were looking. You booth scurried to get everything as you both wanted to leave the cabin not being comfortable to stay inside any longer than you needed to.
As both you and Tyreese stepped out of the barn you glanced at the people led by Carol. Your eyes scanned the crowd looking for one person in particular.
Daryl stared at you in disbelief he couldn’t believe you were actually alive, he’d seen you get shot, and without medical attention he guessed you’d died. He hadn’t wanted to keep hoping in case he would someday find your corpse rotting away (either as a walker or actually dead).
Daryl took in your bloodied state, you’d no doubt had to fight. Dirt and blood covered most of your clothes, and your face had a few cuts covered in dried blood. Your once white shirt was miss colored and your jeans had been ripped in some places, your jacket had blood stains all over it. Daryl could only guess what you’d gone through to end up looking like that (he didn’t even look that bad). He didn’t like all the blood covering you, he didn’t like not knowing what had happened, he didn’t like being away from you, he needed to protect you, he’d lost Beth to a couple of strangers, he wouldn’t lose you too.
When your eyes finally found Daryl, you had a soft smile on your face as you saw him visibly relax at your eye contact. While Rick and Carl ran towards Judith in Tyreese’s arms, Daryl stumbled forward towards you, dropping his crossbow to the ground. You met him halfway and he engelfulled you in a tight hug. You’d never know nor would anyone else but Daryl let a few tears fall in relief as he hugged you tightly knowing you were still alive, actually alive. As he felt you wrap your arms around him he felt you hug him just as tight, the comforting sensation you both brought each other was all you needed to ground each other and know that either of you were dreaming, this was real and both of you were okay.
As Daryl heard you sniffle he realized you were crying and he hugged you even tighter, taking one hand to your head and petting it softly — not knowing fully how to comfort someone, even now, having comforted you all those times before he still was unsure if he did it right. However he did know that you were crying from relief, because he did the same thing. You had your father back and he had his kid back and knowing that, you both knew that everything would be okay in the end. You were yet to be bested by someone when together, even when apart you always won, always found your way to back to each other. You would beat this world together and that was all that you needed to know, and the fact that neither of you were planning on leaving soon.

baby
pairing(s) twd x teen!reader, rick grimes x teen!reader (platonic)
synopsis y/n went through hell and back for a baby she didn’t even know the name of. but now she finally meets the father of the baby.
warning(s) canon-typical violence/gore
masterlist
“you’re gonna be okay.. shhh..” y/n whispered to the baby wrapped to y/n’s chest securely with a sheet covering her. y/n had rubbed her body with the guts of a walker to camouflage amongst the walkers, but she couldn’t bring herself to put any of it on a baby, “we got this baby.”
y/n had judith hidden under the sheet, so that her scent would be covered too. she was relieved that the baby made little to no noise, occasionally crying when she needed something, but this wasn’t such a fussy baby.
“we’ll get to terminus,” y/n mumbled, every inch of her body ached, burned, hurt. her eyes stung with every blink they took, her eyelids heavy from her lack of sleep and her throat dry. the weight of two bags was getting to her, but she urged her body to move on. for baby.
y/n had found the prison, destroyed and littered with walkers. but she also found judith, alone and screaming with walkers approaching. y/n saved judith. the teenage girl had saved the baby’s life and dedicated everything she had to return the baby to its family. no matter how long it took. she was determined to find out what her name was - “baby” didn’t seem like such a good guess.
explosions.
up the track there were explosions.
up the track was terminus.
a newfound energy kicked into y/n’s body and she began running towards the explosions. tears stung her tired eyes as she ran, holding judith as closely as she could. this was her last hope. terminus was supposed to be it.
a small cabin caught her eye and she decided that it would be a good place to hide out until she could be sure the coast was clear. with her gun raised she swung the door open quickly, ready for anything. what she found was a man tied up on the ground and another man with a beanie on, leaning against the wall.
“what the hell is going on here?” y/n glared at both the men, her gun pointing at the man not tied up.
“put the gun down, it’s not what it looks like.” tyreese raised his hands, “he’s from terminus… terminus isn’t what it seems.”
y/n eyed tyreese suspiciously, but one look at the smirking man on the ground, she could tell who the real threat was.
“i don’t want to have to hurt any of you, i’m just trying to find someone.” y/n explained, her gun still raised and aimed at the tied up man.
“i’m tyreese, if you put the gun down i’ll help you look for them as soon as this is over,” he smiled, his words sounding sincere. y/n wondered how he had survived so long but remain kind. she didn’t remember the last time a stranger was nice to her.
“i’m y/n…” y/n looked down at the dirty blanket covering judith, she lifted it slightly to show tyreese her head, “this is baby.”
tyreese’s eyes widened and he looked at y/n in complete shock, “is she..”
“can’t believe there’s kids having kids now and calling them baby! what a joke.” the man tied up on the ground laughed.
“she’s not mine, asshole.” y/n rolled her eyes, “i woke up one day and heard explosions, when i got there everything was already gone… it was a prison.”
“a prison?” tyreese’s voice shook, the realisation hitting him that judith was alive, “judith..?”
y/n looked at tyreese in shock, “judith?”
“judith grimes,” tyreese nodded, he seemed slightly dazed, but happy, “can i see her?”
y/n hesitantly pulled the blanket off judith and revealed the baby to the man, “you know her? do you know her parents?”
“this is so touching,” a scoff left the man’s lips and he rolled his eyes.
“you speak again and i’ll kill you.” y/n glared at the hostage.
“big guy over here won’t let you.”
“no one has to get hurt.” tyreese sighed, not wanting the teenage girl to shoot the man. especially not a kid.
“do you know baby’s parents?” y/n repeated her question, “sorry- judith.”
“her father… i knew him, but i haven’t seen him since the prison fell, we were hoping to find him at terminus if he made it. that’s where he would go if he made it.”
y/n sat down on a chair in the corner of the cabin, she unwrapped judith from her midriff. rocking her back and forth, y/n whispered to the baby about how she’d see her father again.
“you realise you’re going to have to kill me right?” the man spoke up again, making y/n roll her eyes.
“we don’t.” tyreese stared at y/n, silently pleading with her, “we don’t.”
“c’mon man, he’s tied up and you said he’s bad people,” y/n argued, “keeping him alive is doing no good to anyone. he’s a threat.”
“he’s tied up, you said yourself, he can’t hurt us.” tyreese pleaded.
Tumblr media
everything felt heavy. there was a constant ringing that y/n couldn’t get rid of, her body moved on its own as her vision went in and out of focus. a shiver ran down her spine and in response a sob leapt out of her mouth as she hugged the baby close, tucking judith’s head under her chin.
blood stained her hands and each glimpse of red that she caught, the more she sobbed.
“hey.. hey, look at me,” y/n heard a distant voice, “look at me, hey!”
y/n stared into tyreese’s eyes and choked on a sob, “i’m s-sorry.”
the prisoner the two kept had inevitably attempted an escape and when tyreese couldn’t put a stop to him, y/n did. she gutted the man. stabbed him repeatedly. and finally a stab to the head to permanently end him.
“don’t be sorry.” tyreese shook his head, holding y/n by the shoulders as he crouched down in front of her, “you did good. you saved judith.”
“i-is she o-okay?” y/n tried to speak, but each word was almost impossible for her to say. she kept gasping for more air between words.
“she’s fine, she’s okay, we’re all okay.” tyreese smiled, “we have to get up now, you can finally meet her father.”
“really?” y/n whispered, she was slowly slipping out of her daze and noticed the group of people standing a few metres away.
“yeah,” tyreese grinned and helped her up, despite her shakiness she walked with tyreese to the group of people. a boy ran to her and immediately took judith from her grasp and hugged her. a man wasn’t so far behind and when he reached her he wrapped his arms around her and engulfed her in a tight hug.
“thank you,” the man cried, “thank you.”
y/n hugged the man back, a smile on her face. she had returned baby back to her family. she completed her mission.
“if she responds to the word baby sometimes, that might be because i started calling her that.” y/n smiled nervously as the man pulled away.
“i can’t thank you enough for what you’ve done,” he shakes his head in disbelief, grabbing judith from the boy and holding her close, pressing a kiss on her head and holding his tears back, “how old are you?”
“I’m fifteen? maybe sixteen..” y/n paused to think, “i’ll go with sixteen.”
“how many walkers have you killed?” he asked, a slight smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
“a lot, never kept track though,” y/n shrugged.
“how many people have you killed?” rick questioned.
y/n’s face immediately turned sour, the question caught her off guard and made her mind flash memories she wanted to forget.
“two.”
“why?”
y/n looked down at judith who had fallen asleep in her father’s arms, “they tried to kill your baby.”
rick nodded, taking in the girl’s words, “i understand. i’m sorry you had to do that.”
“i wouldn’t have done anything different, i wanted to learn her name rather than calling her baby all day,” y/n smiled softly at judith, “she’s great company too.. totally nails the small talk.”
rick laughed and smiled at his son, who was smiling back at him, holding onto judith’s hand.
“i’m rick grimes, this is my son carl,” rick introduced himself and carl, “you already know judith of course.”
“she’s told me a lot about you guys,” y/n smirked.
“she spoke?” carl’s eyes widened. rick pulled his son into a side hug and just laughed.
“she was joking,” he whispered to carl.
“the others are michonne, maggie, glenn, daryl, carol, tara, abraham, rosita, sasha and eugene,” rick pointed everyone out, “you’re free to join us, i owe you.”
“i’m y/n,” y/n grinned, “i’m glad i found you.”

Mute Pt.1
I've been with Rick's group since the run to the city when they met Rick and I, we had been in the same hospital room, he'd gotten shot and I had damaged my vocal cords. Together we met a man named Morgan and his son Duane. They informed us about the state of the world and how to keep ourselves safe from the dead roaming the streets.
Even if these people had kept me alive and taught me many valuable skills, I wanted them to stop talking to me about anything and everything. If I was able to speak I would most likely tell them to shut up.
I was helping Lori with the collecting eggs from the chicken coop as she ranted about her life. She shed tears that had been suppressed by the pressure of surviving in this world. I could visibly see the sweat seeping through her skin and her eyes screaming for help, but I can't give it to her, I can't speak. How could she talk to me like she's speaking to a therapist only to have no response? How come she doesn't talk to the man she married? "I hate not knowing," She stated, without giving context, then vomited in an empty bucket on the coop's floor. "No need to worry over that, I can rinse it out later, just the morning sickness," Lori noted. That must be what she meant by "I hate not knowing"?
Once Lori's therapy, and my torture, ended I headed over to the Greene house for a checkup Hershel promised me. I sat down on the bed in a guest room as he looked me over for any major injuries. He sat beside me on the bed and asked me basic "yes" or "no" questions to which I nodded "yes" or "no". "Have you ever been able to speak?" he questioned. I nod and he continued with the questions. "Y/n, does it hurt to use your voice?" I nodded and he excused himself. The Greene's never ranted or tried too hard to keep me in the conversation, but they never made me feel like I wasn't there like the rest of the group did.
After learning that Hershel could only hope that I could get my voice back by adjusting to using it again, I headed to the R.V to clean the guns. I looked up to see Shane stomping in, cursing out Rick quite freely. Eventually he realized he wasn't alone and a look of panic flashed across his face. He looked up to identify the person, and once recognized me, rolled his eyes and continued his rant to himself aloud. He couldn't care less about what he said around me, I wouldn't be able to repeat it to someone else.
Above me, on the roof of the R.V sat Dale, keeping watch. I joined him after finishing with the guns, leaving Shane to talk as he was. A sigh escaped Dale's lips before speaking."There has been no activity all day, you sure it's worth spending your free time up here with me?" I Nodded my head, not bothering to check if he saw it or not.
 I didn't come up here to spend time with him, I came up here to enjoy the silence, glad to be a part of it. This is where I went to escape the headache that this group gave me. I felt like when I was up this high up I didn't need to be able to communicate, I was just me, as I was before. myself. The group didn't know me, I was just some girl who was capable of pulling through, incapable of simple speech. To them I was a Nobody.
When I could see the stars in the sky, long after Dale had left for bed I attempted to use my voice. It hurt, like the knife was tearing through my throat all over again, and the sound that I forced out wasn't right. At first I thought there was a walker out here with me, in the dark. It had been so long since I had made a sound that I forgot how it sounded to hear a noise of my own, instead of words from every person who wasn't me.

Teen spirit
Pairing: Carl Grimes × reader, Maggie Greene × sister reader
Warnings: Swearing
Chapter: 5.05
Your eyes sting as more tears fall from them. You wipe them away with the back of your hand, then pull your knees up to your chest. You let out a shaky breath. Three weeks had passed since Beth died in Atlanta, and since then the group had tragically lost another member, Tyreese. He died when part of the group split off to see if Noah’s hometown of Shirewilt was liveable, and now your group was heading in the direction of DC.
The town was unlivable and full of nothing but rotten corpses.
Most of the group of survivors you were part of were sitting in the middle of the road, but a few of you had gone off to try and search for water and food in the woods. Since your group had hardly any left, everyone was becoming dangerously dehydrated. The group's mood was at an all-time low, and you had barely spoken in three weeks, only when necessary.
You jump, feeling a hand on your shoulder. “Hey, hey, it’s just me,” Daryl says. “I just wanted to make sure you ate something.”
If you weren’t still in so much pain from grieving, you would have found the humor in Daryl offering you a handful of worms as a meal. A few years ago, you would have run away screaming if a bug even touched your skin, and now you were getting ready to eat the slimy insects without a second thought. You let him place a few worms in your hand. “Thanks.”
“Beth, never shut up about you.”
You say nothing, and you continue to eat in silence.
When you returned to meet up with the others along with Daryl, you found out that someone had left bottles of water further up the road with a note saying ‘from a friend’ but nobody drank out of the bottles in case they were poisoned.
You scrunch your nose up at the smell of burning food. Four hungry dogs had run out from the tree line and onto the road, but before they could attack or run away, Sasha shot all of them, which resulted in the animals being skinned and cooked as a meal. Everyone ate aside from you and Noah.
Noah seemed to be too consumed by guilt to eat, and the thought of eating your favorite animal turned your stomach.
You sit the furthest away from the group by yourself until Carl sits down beside you on a dry patch of grass. He nudges your knee with his elbow. “Hey, I got something for you.”
You look at him through tired eyes and say, “Yeah?”
Carl pulls two bracelets made of yarn out of his pocket; they were covered in dirt, but you could still make out the bracelets were a mixture of blue and purple. “I found these while looking for water in abandoned cars a few days ago; I was just waiting for the best time to give it to you. I remember you saying, you used to make friendship bracelets with your mom for the church fundraiser.”
Your eyes become glossy at the memory of sitting on your bedroom floor hours after your bedtime, making them with brightly colored threads and sparkly beads. You hold the wrist out, and Carl puts the bracelet on before tying the ends into tight knots. “They are really pretty,” you say quietly. “Thank you.”
Once yours is securely on, Carl holds up his wrist for you to do the same. “No matter where we end up or how alone we feel, we can just look at these and remember that we will always have someone who has our back.”
For the first time in weeks, you smile.
Noticing Daryl going off on his own again, you get to your feet and follow him into the woods, being careful not to step on any of the skeletons on the forest floor. Suddenly he stops walking and says, “Not now, kid, I don’t want to talk about it.”
“I know.”
Beth’s death hadn’t just taken a toll on you and Maggie; everyone else in the group who knew her felt her death too, just in different ways. You walk up behind Daryl and wrap your arms around his waist. At first, you think he’s going to shove you off, but he places his hands on top of yours. Daryl was tough, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t fragile like the rest of you.
“When we... after the prison... I’m glad Beth was with you.”
Despite his best efforts to hold it together, a heartbroken sob passes his lips.
You stay like that until you feel the first drop of rain hitting your skin. You let go of Daryl and ran back to the highway. Empty bottles were being placed down to collect the rainwater.
A sense of relief hit you; everyone aside from Maggie and Sasha looked happy. You smile watching as Carl takes off his hat and uses it to shield Judith from the rain; she was crying because her clothes had gotten soaked.
Hearing a loud crackle in the sky, you look up and notice the oncoming storm. “Oh shit.”
Daryl points back the way and says, “I saw a barn; let’s go.”
Once the barn was cleared by Rick, Michonne, and Maggie, they gave the rest of you the go-ahead to go in. It didn’t take long for a small to be made and any supplies sought out.
“Hey!” Maggie comes over to you, tucking stands of damp hair behind your ear. “It’s been tough, but we’ve made it this far.”
“I know.”
She kisses the crown of your bed and says, “Try and get some sleep.”
It doesn’t take you long to fall asleep. You and Carl chose to sleep on top of some hay, with Judith safely nestled between you. Most of the adults sit around the fire till late into the night until they fall asleep one by one.
Feeling a chill If you sit upright, it takes your eyes a moment to adjust to the darkness. Everyone else was asleep aside from Judith, who was wiggling on her back. You make sure she’s tucked up close enough to her brother that she won’t roll away and get hurt.
You approach the barn doors held together by a metal chain. You weren’t surprised it was cold with the rain still lashing down. You step closer to the doors to look out and see what damage the heavy rainfall caused, and between the flashes of lighting, you see walkers coming your way.
Stumbling back, you struggled to form a sentence but managed to scream one word, “Rick!”
When the barn door starts to move, you press yourself against it. Seconds later, Daryl is beside you, then Maggie, then Rick. Soon everyone was pushing their full body weight against the doors, waiting for the storm to pass.

You and Carl approach the large building, gazing upon the well-founded structure. It was a curvature shape, large glass windows covering it, pulling in gallons of sunlight each day. You couldn't imagine the amount of sunbleach on the floor inside if it was that familiar thin carpeting like in arcades or inside al Chuck E Cheese's across the globe.
As you walk closer, killing any stray walkers with your knives, you notice there's a whole layer below the upper, circular part of the building. It's held up by pillars, protected by shade, and only covered in a few tall windows here and there. Below that, it sinks into the ground a bit with the help of some staircases on each side behind the sign and little wall to prevent casualties. It was more boxy, however, still covered in windows. The whole structure looked freakishly modern, like the world didn't end back in 2010 here, like the world just kept spinning up til now, apparently. It was a little freaky seeing it, but you brushed it off. Whatever this place was, they probably pulled in millions of dollars a month to look like this.
You approach the front, seeing Virginia Museum of History & Culture in bold lettering above the main doors.
Now, you and your long-time friend Carl never got to learn all that much about history or culture, seeing as the world ended in the middle of your fifth grade year. All through elementary school, it wasn't something anyone was teaching a bunch of little kids who'd forget within an hour over recess.
The two of you share a shrug and nod, deciding to go in to look for any food or resources. You keep your weapons ready and in hand, prepared to take down as many walkers as need be.
The first challenge was getting inside, however. The door was locked. Luckily, Carl was able to pick the lock with a spare safety pin he kept in his pocket for this exact reason, and he slowly pushed the door open with his foot. His boot leaves a print on the door from the dirt and dust on the ground, leaving the stainless steel door a little messy as you both enter.
You clear out each large room, finding no signs of life, or death for that matter. You closely examine all of the WW2 replica artifacts and read the little signs, teaching you about the nearly hundred-year-old war. It was pretty interesting to you, considering the only war education you'd gained was being part of one yourself with the whole Negan and the Saviors thing.
Carl notices you reading as he breaks open some protective glass, opening a stash of rifles that'd been found post-war on the battlegrounds in Virginia.
"Think they still work?" He asks you, holding one up in his hand.
You shrug, "How would I know?"
He nods and shrugs, agreeing with your statement. However, you'd take anything you could get your hands on at the moment, food, guns, ammo, anything.
You two unlock a long forgotten childlike curiosity, exploring the museum for all its knowledge. You learn a lot about cultures and wars walking around the building, about ancient Aztec civilizations and the Civil War.
You ended up finding a little bit of food and some guns and ammo. I mean, a museum would never be a go-to for apocalypse rations anyway.
The two of you sit down in front of the windows near the front of the building, giggling and gasping for air after playing tag for a solid twenty minutes. Your cheeks are flushed and you run a hand through your hair, trying to cool yourself down a bit.
"I didn't know you could run so fast" Carl chuckles, lightly nudging your shoulder.
You shrug with a light smile and reply with a sarcastic and snarky tone, "My urgency to get away from you is showing"
"Hey!"
⋆༺𓆩☠︎︎𓆪༻⋆༺𓆩☠︎︎𓆪༻⋆༺𓆩☠︎︎𓆪༻⋆༺𓆩☠︎︎𓆪༻⋆
You stick close to Carl, heading into a locked portion of the building, staff only. You wield your knives, cautiously turning the lights on.
Nothing, once again.
Another lunch room, weird enough. But it had plenty of non-perishables you could take. Including spaghetti-o's, which you hadn't had in years. The warm, metal taste could already be tasted on your tongue as you imagined the beautiful taste of the noodles and sauce again.
Carl turns to you, "Ready to go? It's nearly dark"
You nod, "Go on without me, I wanna go in that section we didn't really explore yet"
He shrugs, "I'll come with you"
"It's fine-"
"You wanna learn more, don't you?"
You shrug and nod.
"Nerd" He teasingly chuckles, "C'mon, let's make it quick"
You quickly run out to the section you didn't get to explore much, learning all about JFK's assassination. God, if the internet got to progress any further, you'd be all over Reddit sharing conspiracies and theories about this right now.
"Holy shit, dude took two bullets, what the fuck?"
"Damn"
You begin to rant as you read the little book on the podium, silencing Carl as he sits on the floor. His feet hurt, and his shoulders were beginning to ache, so he decided to sit down like this was kindergarten storytime.
You stand and speak, using your hands to communicate through body language as he attentively listens to you. He looks up at you with admiration, like he was genuinely focused on you and only you. You stop to breathe, your throat dry as you shut the book.
Carl fixes his hat, handing you some water.
"Ready to go home and eat these spaghetti-o's that I know you're dying to eat?"
"Yes please!"

     ~~~2005~~~
             It was early in the morning, maybe five or six. You were fast asleep dreaming about nothing and everything, but while you lay sleeping, a figure crept into the room being careful not to wake you.
When he got to your bed, he hovered over it ready to pounce on you. You were snoring into the night, unaware of what was about to happen as he snaked his hands under the cover skillfully and-
“Wake up, bear! We got lots to do kid.” Your Dad tickled your sides as you yelped and writhed from joy.
“Dad! Sto-stop I can't brea-breathe,” you laughed.
He smiled down at you before he got up, releasing that classic dad grunt while laughing quietly.
“Alright, get dressed, then get something to eat.”
You smirked up at him and flung your cover off yourself.
“Already one step ahead of you,”you say, revealing to him that you were already dressed in your hunting clothes, minus your boots.
He chuckled quietly, careful not to wake up his wife and stepson. He nodded his head, telling you to get up and go to the kitchen. You rushed to the kitchen, grabbed a bowl and spoon, and had some fruity pebbles. Your dad just had a pop-tart that he popped in the toaster.
While he was waiting for it to ding, he looked at you. He saw you scarf down your food as fast as you could.
“You know you can enjoy it, right?” he teased, but you just looked up at him while the spoon was still in your mouth.
“I know, just eager to leave.” Your mouth was full and milk streamed out of your mouth.
Your dad just rolled his eyes and chuckled.
POP!
He grabbed his food and went to sit with you. Looking up, you asked him a question. “So what are we doing today?”
Your dad took a bite of his pop-tart. “Hmm, well I was thinking about going into town and getting some more snacks for the trip. Maybe some extra bug spray.”
You nodded at that. “Yeah, they love me for some reason.”
He smirked. “Yeah, it's ‘cause you got sweet blood, they like it.”
Your eyes widened. “WHAT!” You practically yelled.
You covered your mouth hoping not to awaken your half-brother and mom.
But it didn't help.
“The hell’s all this racket!?” Your older brother, Jason, stormed in with an annoyed and tired look on his face.
You looked at your brother when he walked over. He was three years older which made it easier for him to ignore you. He was indifferent towards you, like you didn't matter to him. The only time he gave you any attention was when you irritated him, like you were bothering him with your existence.
Jason and your dad had a hard relationship. For some reason, Jason was always rude to him. Whenever your mom wanted to tease Jason she would explain how when she and Dad had started dating Jason would throw fits when Dad came over. And how Jason would stare at your dad with a mean glare. Jason had the meanest glare, it could put the old judgy ladies at church to shame.
“Sorry, son, me and your sister were just talking about our trip.”
Jason seemed to glare at the word ‘son’. Your brother looked at the clock on the wall with a sleepy stare. “It's five in the mornin', so stop yellin' in the house, Y/n.'' He looked down at you as he walked over and made a bowl of cereal, the same as you.
“O-okay, sorry.” You looked down meekly at your nearly empty bowl.
Your dad sighed, “Well, we're about to leave.”He looked at Jason. “You sure you don't want to come with us, Jason? Wouldn’t be any trouble.”
He responded with a quick “No.”
Relief washed over you.
“I’d rather shoot by myself than with her.” He glared at you.
You looked away from his glare and shrank into yourself.
Your Dad sighed and got up. You copied him and went to put your bowl in the sink. You rushed to your room and went to get your bag and put your boots on. By the time you left, it was about five-thirty in the morning, and the sun was already starting to rise as you and your dad got into his truck and started driving to town.
Looking out the window, you could see the familiar trees and a few birds flying by. You always loved the woods. It was quiet, yet the singing of birds could still be heard in the distance. Looking into the rearview mirror, you could see your cabin disappearing in the distance.
“You excited, kid?”
Turning your head, you looked at your dad with a smile, “Yes!” you exclaimed excitedly.
Your dad chuckled. “Oh, I bet, bear, but uhh, been wanting to talk to ya ‘bout something.”
You tilted your head with curiosity. “What, Dad?”
He sighed lightly. “Yer teacher called your Momma and me yesterday to discuss your schooling. They said you were falling behind in yer work, withdrawing from other kids, and advised me to talk to you. Can you tell me why, bear?”
You looked out the window without answering.
“I won't push you right now, but if you ever want to talk,” he trailed off and rubbed your shoulder the best he could while driving.
***
              By the time the truck made it to town, the sun was up. The truck pulled into the mini-mart. You jumped out of the truck and waited for your dad, before sprinting into the mart and grabbing different snacks you liked. You had an armful by the time you returned to your dad at the counter.
He looked down and his eyes widened at your selection. “Jeez, Bear, you going into hibernation?” He let out a hearty laugh. Grinning at him, you put your snacks on the checkout counter.
“One thing I love about you two coming in here-” The owner started to ring up your stuff, “I always make money.”
Your dad waved his hand at them dismissively before grabbing the bags and handing them to you.
“Let's get a move on, don't want to miss any of the good spots.” Hopping into the truck, Dad started it and headed out to your campsite.
***
             A few hours had passed by the time you made it to the site. Hopping out of the truck, you went around back to the truck bed and grabbed your bag and bow. Your dad set up the tents and you set up the fire pit, gathering some rocks and stacking them, then went to find some sticks.
When it all was done, your dad came over and patted you on the shoulder. “Ready, Bear?”
You looked up at him. “Yeah!”
You grabbed your bow and followed him into the woods. Stopping at a clearing, your dad put his stuff down and stood next to you.
“All right, Y/n, you remember what I taught you?” He knelt as you grabbed an arrow and drew your bow back.
“Where do you want me to shoot?” You looked at him.
He thought for a moment, looking around, till he stopped his gaze at a certain tree with a unique-looking branch that hung low on the ground. He pointed. “See the knot in the tree? Shoot that.”
You nodded your head and tightened the bow once more.
You held your breath and focused on the knot on the branch, taking a second before you released your arrow. You heard a thunk as it hit the tree and you looked to see if you had hit the knot, but sadly your aim was a little off. It was a few inches to the right. “Aww, I missed it.” You kicked the dirt slightly.
Your dad stood up and went to retrieve the arrow. “It’s ok, sweetheart, you're getting better just remember that.” He tried to cheer you up. “Remember when I first took you out here? Your arrow would be two or three feet away from the target.”
You smiled to yourself.“Thanks, Dad.”
He walked over and crouched down to your height. “Now let's try again.”
He handed you your arrow and ruffled your hair. You smiled to yourself. Regaining your stance, you drew back your bow and released another arrow. You hit it closer every time. And when you finally manage to hit it after your third time, you jumped up and down in joy.
“Good job, Bear, why don't we try something harder hmm?”
You nodded, and he took your quiver, put it over his shoulder, and took your hand, leading you deeper into the woods.
***
             It took hours before you returned to your camp, the whole time spent practicing your aim on things besides the normal target. By the time the sun was down, your dad decided it was time to head back.
*
             Your dad had started the fire and was cooking some hot dogs for the two of you. “You have fun, Bear?”
You look at him. “Yeah, I got better at my aim I think. What about you Dad?” You ask, tilting your head at him.
“Hmm, it was amusing to see you miss sometimes.” He pulled out your food from the fire while you groaned with embarrassment.
You ate your food while looking up at the stars. “Hey Dad, what's that one called?” You pointed up at the sky.
“Hmm, I think it's Orion. He was a skilled hunter who used a bow, and some say he managed to woo the heart of the virgin archer. He even claimed that he ‘could hunt any and every animal’, but Momma Gaia heard this and sent a mighty scorpion after him, which is why–” he lead your head to another part of the sky. “–If you can find him, you’ll see Scorpius, the very same scorpion that killed him.”
Looking at the stars, your mouth was agape. “Wow,” you whispered under your breath and rested your head on his shoulder.
After a few hours, you and your dad went to bed.
***
              The end of your weekend trip went by fast, and before you knew it, you were on your way home eating a bag of chips while listening to the radio.
Your dad was focused on the road, but the conversation about your schooling was still playing in his head. "Bear, we still need to talk." He said. You paused for a moment, not wanting to have this conversation. Since starting school, you've had trouble keeping up with the other kids. Since you were behind, your classmates would treat you differently.
"I don't want to talk about it," you said, looking down at the floor.
Your Dad looked over, sadly. "Can you tell me about it? You don't have to tell me everything."
"The others treat me differently, and I don't know why.” You looked out the window again, trying to focus on the songs the birds were singing.
Stopping the truck, your dad pulled you into an embrace. “It’s ok, Y/n, I'll tell your Momma and we’ll talk to your teacher, okay?” He looked down and rubbed your shoulder, waiting for an answer.
“O-okay.” Your voice was muffled
The truck started again and you both drove off toward your cabin.
***
              When you got home, it was around dinner time. Since it was a Sunday your mom was making your favorite for dinner. Your truck pulled up, and you ran out of the cab and into the arms of your momma.
“MOMMA!” You tackled her, sending her stumbling back a bit.
“Hey, baby, how was your trip?” she asked with a loving smile.
Looking up at her, you gave her a big grin. “It went awesome! I got better on my aim and distance.”
She smiled down at you. “Well, that's amazing, maybe one day you’ll be better than yer daddy.” She ruffled your hair. “Now come on, supper’s cooking, want you and yer daddy to get washed up.” She shooed you away into the house.
Running to your room, you grabbed some shorts, a T-shirt, and other stuff and ran to the bathroom, but your brother was walking by and had a sour look on his face.
“Yer back.”
You looked down. “Yeah, how was it here?”
He glared down at you. “Peaceful, shoulda stayed that way.” He walked past you and bumped your shoulder.
***
              When you got out of your shower, you went to the kitchen to help your mom cook but just ended up sitting on the counter and telling her about your trip with your dad.
“Then Dad told me to shoot an apple that was still on the tree.” You told her excitedly.
“Wow, baby, did ya hit it?”
You nodded. “Yep, it fell and knocked down some apples with it. Dad and I ate them on our walk back to camp.”
“Sounds like you two had quite the adventure.” Your mom said as she stirred the pot.
She took the pot off the burner and walked to the dinner table. You followed her and sat down.
“Yep, it was.” While your mom grabbed other things for dinner, you helped set the table.
            “BOYS, DINNERS READY!” she called.
Dad came out of the garage and Jason came out of his room. You sat next to Mom, across from Jason, and Dad across from Mom. After everyone was seated, Mom said grace and you all ate dinner. You ate yours quickly while Jason picked and prodded at his.
When you finished dinner, you kissed your Mom and Dad good night and went to bed. You lay under your blanket, looking at your glow-in-the-dark stars, and drifted off to sleep.
   ~~~ 2005, A few weeks later~~~
              It all happened in a blur. You and Dad were driving back from your trip in the forest, and you even managed to bag a rabbit all on your own. One minute you were on your way to register what you had, then you were waking up in a hospital with your Momma by your side, crying and a local sheriff on your other side gearing up to ask you a few questions
“Momma…” Your voice was weak. “What happened?”
 She grabbed your hand and kissed it. “You were in an accident, baby.”
Your eyes widened the best they could but you were still loopy. “What?” You looked around the room, your heartbeat picking up. “Where’s Dad?” Your voice was starting to hurt.
Your Momma cried, her tears falling on your hospital bed. “He-He didn't make it, baby.”
You looked up at the ceiling and silently cried with your Momma.
“Mrs Myers, I’d like to speak with your daughter alone, to get her account of the story.” The sheriff gently led her out of the room, then sat next to you and asked you a series of questions.
“Now, Y/n, I understand you and your dad were driving, do you know where?”
You choked back a sob before you answered. “The a- the game warden's office.”
He wrote that down. “Can you tell me what you and your daddy were doing before then?”
Licking your lips, you replied, “We were out camping like- like we always do. He was showing me how to hunt.”
He nodded and wrote that down too.“Do you remember anything while you were driving to the game office?”
You thought for a moment. “I was talking to Dad when suddenly he threw his hand in front of me then…everything went black.” You started to cry, all your emotions catching up with you.
The sheriff looked down at you with sympathy and leaned over you to rest his hand on your head. “Just get some rest, Y/n, we’ll talk later, ‘kay?”
You nodded, and he took his leave, and your mom rushed to your side once again.
***
              The day you were discharged from the hospital was bittersweet. You were leaving and going home, to sleep in your own bed. But you were leaving without your dad, and in a few days, you would be giving him a send-off for his funeral in Oklahoma.
The drive home in Mom's car was different. It didn't have that old dusty truck smell, and it didn't rumble as it drove down the dirt road. No, Mom's car was clean, quiet, and smelled like pine. You hated it.
The drive was quiet, only the sound of the radio filling the car, but that quickly got turned off, much to the displeasure of Jason, who quickly turned it back on, which upset Mom.
“Quit it.” She turned it off again.
“I want to listen to the radio,” Jason protested.
“NO, Jason, stop it!” Silent tears were running down her cheeks, but Jason just scoffed and looked out the window
*
              When you got home, Jason went to his room and you sat on the couch and curled yourself into a ball. Your mom went straight to the kitchen and came back out with the champagne bottle that had been saved for their anniversary.
Her dark green eyes were dull and wet with her tears. She took a good look at the bottle before she took a swig and sobbed. You didn't know how else to comfort her, so you just crawled over and cuddled under her arm.
“It’s ok, Momma.” You whispered to her.
That just made her cry harder– the fact that her baby had to comfort her.
She took another drink while the two of you just sat on the couch and watched TV.
It wasn't long before she passed out. The bottle she'd been drinking fell to the ground and the rest of the contents spilled out, the sound of the bottle hitting the ground woke you up. You looked up at your mom and kissed her good night, before you cleaned up the mess she'd made, and went to bed.
Laying in your bed, you looked up at your fake stars.  You turned over to look at a photo of you and your dad, It was taken when you were five, first learning how to use a bow.
You smiled sadly and went to sleep.
***
              It was just like that for years. You would wake up, go and eat whatever Jason made, and find your momma on the couch, passed out with a bottle of some kind in her hand or on the floor. And as always, you would clean it up before you went to school.
Sometimes she would wake up and tell you to have a good day. You always said you would but you never did.
When you went to school, some would be nicer. You didn't know whether it was because they felt bad or because they'd been told to. It didn't matter ‘cause the alienation continued and you were still by yourself. The boys still asked mean questions, but now they were about your dad, questions like “Did you see his mangled corpses in the road?” Others would reply with “Yes.” or “It was disgusting.”
Some of the nastier ones started to say that you should’ve died. One group even cut a chunk of your hair off. It was a choppy pixie cut. Your poor teacher tried her best to make it look nice.
But it didn't matter, ‘cause when you got home, you would put on a smile for your mom and tell her you had an amazing day. Your hair? Well, you got gum in it, that's why it was short.
Your momma cried a bit when she saw your hair. It was exactly like your Dad's, long and beautiful, but now it was cropped short. Just one more thing she had loved and lost.
***
              You supposed your Momma must have been feeling lonely. Instead of drinking on the couch, she started to go out to drink, sometimes with her coworkers or sometimes just alone.
And when she was out late at night it was Jason who had to take care of you. He would make you dinner, and make sure you did your homework. He wasn't nice about it but he did it. He also started to take you hunting, and in Jason's fashion, he was harsh and rude with his remarks unlike your Dad had been.
“Y/n, shoot the squirrel over there, you see it?” You roughly pointed in the direction.
You nodded and aimed your arrow at it. You released it, but you missed and it scurried away.
“DAMNIT!” He shot up to his full, towering height. “Can't ya do anything! Jeez, a rock has better aim than ya!” He went to retrieve the arrow. You followed him to find more quarry.
“Ya know, what if som’ happens and we got to provide for mom, huh? What if I can't hunt and you have to hunt fer us, and ya can't hunt shit and we die?” He liked to be overly dramatic with his lectures.
But his “lecture” did nothing but stab your already bruised ego, but to prove him wrong you had to get better.
When you saw a rabbit, you both got down low on the ground. You drew back your arrow and aimed, making sure it was perfect before shooting. The arrow flew past different branches before it finally sunk into the rabbit's abdomen. The rabbit kicked, using up whatever strength it had left before it finally died.
You ran towards the rabbit and picked it up to show Jason. “Look I got it, it's big too!” You showed him proudly.
He caught up to you and scoffed. “Jus’ a rabbit, nothing to get worked up over,” he said, giving you an unimpressed look. “Itz big though,” he admitted under his breath as he walked away. It was a small comment, but it brought a smile to your face.
He looked down at the ground, looking for any tracks that could lead to bigger animals. You took the arrow out and put the rabbit in your animal satchel, and followed him.
It was the same cycle that lasted for three years, but then your momma did what you thought she never could. Something that rocked your world, and made you look at her a bit differently.
              Remarry.
        ~~~ 2008 ~~~
              It was late, really late at night, maybe three in the morning. You and Jason were up watching movies and eating what was left in the kitchen. Your mom had the car most of the time so Jason couldn't go out and buy more food.
You were currently watching an old zombie movie called Dawn of the Dead, one that your dad and Jason both seemed to like. The only thing they could agree on was movies.
It was almost over when you heard a rapid knock on the front door. The suddenness surprised you, making you jump a bit, spilling the remaining popcorn.
“BABIES! OPEN THE DOOR, PLEASE!” Some smaller knocks could be heard. “PLEASE, I FORGOT MY KEYS! AND WE’RE COLD!”
You and Jason looked at each other before he got up to open the door for your Momma. Her hair was messy, along with her makeup. And behind her was a man with blonde shaggy hair and a beard. He wore a blue button-up and was shivering.
Your Momma walked past your brother and so did the man. You and Jason gave him a strange look, almost like he had a second head.
Your Momma seemed to notice the looks and stopped to introduce him on her way to the kitchen.
“Oh um, guys this is my fiance, Steven.” She looked at him with puppy eyes.
“Ah, Steven these are my kids, Jason and Y/n, but we call her Bear.” She had a goofy grin on her face as if she didn’t realize she'd dropped a bombshell on you and your brother.
Your brother just huffed and went to his room to sleep.
“I wonder what that was about” your Momma uttered his breath “Hi baby! What were you two just doing?” she rushed to your side and sat on the floor with you.
You looked up at her “Just watching a movie with Jason” you glazed at the awkward and clearly drunk Steven before watching the movie again.
“Ooo looks scary, think im gonna make me and Steven some drinks” She kissed your cheek and got up “ooo Stevie why don't you sit and talk with Bear Bear?”
His head shot up in confusion “Wha-what oh um yea of course baby” he walked to the couch and sat down nervously. He looked around the room and then landed on some old photos of you and your dad hunting.
“So, you uh hunt?” you turned your head towards the man you may call ‘dad’, his eyes dart to yours than back to the TV.
“Uhh, yea, my Dad taught me, but haven't caught anything ‘sides som’ rodents” You glanced at him and he just looked somewhere else, he looked so out of place in your small home.
You decided to try and “bond” with him “What about you? You hunt?” His head shot towards you in surprise.
“Ah no, no I don’t hunt. I find it uh too much, to be honest” he laughed awkwardly, you looked away and at your mom who walked back into the living room
“Hey guys! Whatcha talking about!” she said in her drunk cherry, In one hand, she had some snacks and some beers “Sorry we don’t get much, we don't have a lot in the house” She laughed.
You shifted awkwardly, cause she was the reason for no food “Maybe we could go shopping tomorrow Mom?” she stood there thinking,
“yea-yeah sure, me and you. Ya know just a girl's day!” You smiled and got to kiss your mom's cheek and went to bed Hopefull she’ll get better with this new guy around and fulfill a promise to you.
        ~~~ 2010 ~~~
              You woke up rather late one morning. You walked out of your room to see the TV was on and some trash around the living room, you went to clean it up but your eyes grew when your mom past out on the couch with Steven, in a rather awkward position. You turned around to go to your room when Jason came out too. He seemed to notice the mess to and went to clean it up
“You don't wanna be in the livin' room” You stopped him, and he gave you a weird look.
“The hell do you mean?” you cleaned your throat.
“Umm, ste-steven and momma were gettin’ comfortable if ya know what I mean” he just shook his head and went to the kitchen.
“Whatever, im going to get food, you coming?” He grabbed the keys and walked to the garage doors.
You nodded your head and went to get dressed and were quickly out the door to the car. The sun was up, it was a warm day in August, a week before school started. You looked out the window while the radio played, some news guy was mouthing off about some world problem, it was enough for your brother to turn the radio to something else.
When Jason pulled into the parking lot you could see it was packed but was dead silent. You got out of the car when another car whizzed by almost hitting you.
You and Jason walked into the store questioning what happened when you noticed the store was dead quiet. You could see carts abandoned some of them being tipped over with groceries all over the floor.
“What tha” Jason looked at the scene in front of you. Jason looked at his watch and half decided to leave but you needed food he just pushed it to the back of his mind.
You grabbed the basket and walked to the food aisle grabbing milk, bread, eggs, and other stuff you needed. But your brother stopped you, grabbing your shoulder roughly
“Wait” you turned to him.
“What? What's wrong?” he pointed down the clothing aisle, it was destroyed and the clothes were everywhere. “Th-the hell happened there? And why hasn't anyone fixed it yet” You started to walk over to investigate but Jason grabbed your arm to stop you
“Don't, I don't like this” he pushed you forward to the front of the store. Jason grabbed your arms as he speed walked passed the alise of food thrown around the floor. But one alise made you stop in your tracks, making you drop the basket to cover your mouth.
There in the middle of the floor was a dead body, what was worse was that it looked like it was gored on. Her face was eaten, her abdomen was torn open and her intestines and blood were all over the floor.
You could see blood tracks near the body, leading away to the next aisle. Your brother pushed you down to the ground, telling you to keep quiet. He looked over to the next aisle and went back quickly.
He dropped down to the floor as well, he gestured you over to him while putting a finger up to his lips. You rushed to him.
“What's going on?” you asked panicked.
“I don’t know, but there's someone over in the next aisle with blood ‘n shit all over 'em” You looked at him with scared eyes.
“Wha-what do we do Jason” you looked to your brother for protection.
“We're gonna slowly and quietly leave the store, don't want to attract the cra-” He shot up, pushing you out of the way and kicking the woman's head out of the way. She flew back giving you and your brother time to run as fast as you could out of the store. While you were running you saw more and more blood and gore, you just didn't seem to notice.
You got to the car and speed home. The radio was still on, with it blasting the current news:
“IT APPEARS THAT A VIRUS IS SPREADING THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, KILLING THE INFECTED, AND BRING THEM BACK TO LIFE AND ATTACKING OTHERS!
THESE INDIVIDUALS ARE AGGRESSIVE AND IF YOU COME ACROSS THEM EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY AND CALL LOCAL OFFICERS!”
“What- what does this mean” Your eyes started to water “What are we gonna do Jaso-” you were cut off-
“JUST BE QUITE and let me think” his grip on the steering wheel was turning his knuckles white as he stopped the car to think,
“Here's what we're gonna do, we're gonna go home, then pack our shit and leave! Head into the woods and wait this shit out” You nodded and jumped when a hand slammed on the window on your side, you shrieked causing Jason to jump when he saw the thing he floored the car.
Not once did he stop the car, not even when other cars were around. When you turned into the driveway of your home you hopped out and ran in to see your mom and Steven watching the TV. She leaped off the couch and hugged you tight.
“Oh baby, baby are you okay where were you guys!” she was crying, her already smudged makeup rubbing off.
 “We were at-at the sto-store and w-we saw this woman all-all over the palace” you cried in her arms and hugged her arms
Jason busted in the door “Ma pack yer shit we’re leavin’ NOW! Y/n get our bow stuff, I'll get the campin’ stuff, Steven gets as much food as you can, Ma get essentials and anythin’ else we need”.
You ran to your room, grabbing your bear bow, quiver, and arrows. Doing the same and grabbing Jason's hunting bow and equipment. You grabbed your school bag and some clothes.
You were about done when you thought of something. You rushed to your mom's room and grabbed your dad's coat, you loved your dad's coat. It was a bit big but it'd be good in the winter or as a blanket.
By the time you were done, everybody was running out the door. Jason and Mom were packing the food and camping gear in the trunk of the car. Steven was “the lookout”, he was holding your dad's old shotgun when he saw a figure walking down the driveway,
“H-hey there’s someone comin'” Jason turned his head to see someone limping down the drive way. The man had half his arm ripped off.
“Shit, shoot it” Steven looked at Jason like he was crazy.
“Th-the hell you mean to shoot it? THATS A DAMN PERSON!” Jason slammed the trunk closed, and stormed over to Steven, and snatched the gun from him.
“Those things aren't people! They won't hesitate to eat ya!” he turned to you and your mom “Get in the car and start it, we’ll leave soon”
Your mom ushered you to the back seat furthest away from the thing as your brother called them. Your mom got in next and started the car. She looked panicked, gripping the stirring wheel out of nerves.
You heard the crack of a gunshot not that far away
“SHIT!” Jason yelled.You turned to look at the commotion, to see the figure with a giant hole in his chest, but he was still walking as if nothing happened.
“Sh-shoot it in the he-head Ja-Jason”  Steven could barely talk but he tried to help the best he could. Jason re-aimed the gun and shot the head, well the best he could.
The thing finally went down and Steven and Jason hopped in the car, Jason in the front and Steven in the back. Your mom started the car and drove into the city, taking the path to the local campgrounds.
It seems that while your family was getting ready to leave, things got crazier. There were crashes everywhere, fire, smoke, and screams could be heard, and these, groans or moans could be heard if the things were close to the car.
When you got to the campsite it was quiet. Nothing could really be heard, not even the birds in the trees. Silent, just like the store.

             “THE CDC HAS ISSUED A NATIONWIDE QUARANTINE ALL CIVILIANS ARE ORDERED TO STAY INSIDE OR  GO TO THE ATLANTA REFUGE CAMP IF YOU OR A LOVED ONE ARE IN THE STATE OF GEORGIA
FOOD, MEDICAL SUPPLY, SHELTER, AND MILITARY PROTECTION WILL BE SUPPLIED”
The radio chatter went on and on, spouting the same things. It's been a week since the “outbreak”, as they’re calling it, happened. And in that small little window, your family and Steven have had to move twice, going deeper and deeper into the woods.
“D-do you think we should go to Atlanta? It's not that far from here” Your mom had been suggesting it, but your brother always dismissed it.
“Naw, too risky” he poked the fire “Eaters be everywhere and we’d be sitin’ ducks” You were torn on where to go, staying here you'd be by yourselves but at the same time you didn't have to worry if your neighbor was crazy enough to kill you for bread. But if you went to Atlanta you wouldn't have to worry about eaters –the new name for them– attacking you.
“We’re low on food, Y/n grab yer bow, were goin’ hunting” You nodded and hopped off the opened trunk. Running to your tent and grabbed your bow and quiver and hurried to your brother who was already leaving.
When you went hunting Jason made a rule that you couldn't make too much noise, not since he spotted an eater while he was hunting. You kept your eyes down on the forest floor to keep an eye on any tracks, while Jason kept an eye out for eaters and any animals.
When you found some faint deer tracks you tugged on his shirt and pointed to them. He kneeled down to inspect them and shook his head “Too old, probably dead by now” nodding your head you continued, but stopped in your tracks when you saw a doe looking at you.
She was beautiful, her eyes hadn't noticed you yet, but you had. Jason got up behind you “Guess ya were right, why don't ya bag it” he nudged you forward and you drew the bow back. The bow itself was new, you bought it yourself after cleaning your neighbor's yard for her, she was old frail, and couldn't do it herself.
You released the bow and it landed in her abdomen. She ran off deeper into the woods with whatever strength she had left. You and Jason chased after her, her blood leading her to you.
She was stronger than she looked because it took about twenty minutes before you caught up with her. Jason loaded his bow and shot it and hit her just below her shoulder blade killing her.
“Common, let's go get her and bring her back” You shouldered your bow and walked up to her with Jason. Since he was bigger he took up the grunt work and shouldered her while you carried his bow.
“Now, ya need to find our tracks” he huffed while trying to position her right “Should be easy enough since we were running” You nodded and glued your eyes down looking up when ever you heard something in the distance.
It took about an hour before you got back to your camp. You ran to your mom and hugged her “We bagged a doe, Jason gonna clean ‘er up the we’ll eat it” Jason dropped her by Steven “ya know how to clean a Doe Steven?” Steven looked from Jason to the Doe, back to Jason.
He swallowed deeply before answering “I-uhh I've never done it no” Joson rolled his eyes then sat down next to him and started to show him how.
It was one of the little things your dad never taught you. You've seen him do it, but he never shown you how. Jason had to teach you, and he did that in your kitchen, if your mom was there and sober she would've freaked out.
You sat next to your mom who was still paying attention to the radio. All it did was worry her as she bit her nails with her legs pulled into her chest.
“You okay momma?” you put a hand on her shoulder, she jumped a bit but eased up a bit when she saw you.
“O-oh ye-yea baby, im good” she smiled “How’d your hunt go with Jason?” you pulled your knees up to your chest
“it went fine, I found really old tracks and Jason brushed them off and when we looked up BAMB there she was!” you told the story of how you found the Doe.
Your mom softly clapped for you “Wow, you're a real Orion aren't you bear?” you smiled, your Momma loved Greek Mythology, and she always said if she could be a professor, teaching students about the great tales of the Greek gods and heroes.
“Ya know where your nickname comes from?” you shook your head, but you knew why, this was the closest you got to your old momma from before the accident, plus you loveed the story.
 “Artimiss was the goddess of the hunt, and she swore off marriage—one of three goddesses to be exact– she would hunt on the earthly grounds with other women and nymphs. One of these women was a woman named Callisto, she was a hunter who was sadly assaulted and fell pregnant at the hands of Zues.”
you had a sad expression as if this was the first time you heard this “and Hera and Artemis found them. Artemis cast Callisto out and Hera turned her into a bear.” you gasped playfully, and she smirked.
“well she gave birth and Artemis guided the baby to civilization, and he grew to be a mighty hunter. And he came across his bear Momma and went to kill her, but Zeus saw this and before he could kill her, he put Callisto and her sun the stars” You rested your head on her shoulder and she hugged you. You sat there for a while as you looked at the stars.
 “Well it looks like you brother is about done with the deer, shall we go sit by the fire?” you nodded and grabbed your bag which had your remaining books and sat by the fire
Jason started to put some meat on the fire. The blaze reflected in his dark green eyes, he looked like he was thinking about something. He checked his watch and figured it was time to take the venison off the grill. He gave it to you.
“She found it, she gets to eat it first” was his reasoning when Steven asked why you got it. Steven was very whiney, you suspect he’d be dead if he was alone.
***
              It was deep into the night, and you just finished your comic book. Your Momma was looking for batteries for the radio, it had died about an hour ago and your Momma had been going crazy looking for them. When she finally found them she cheered with triumph and put the new ones in the radio. The radio roared to life with the same news as before.
Jason was poking the fire a bit while Steven was getting something from his tent. You got up and went sit by Jason. He gave you an odd look which you ignored and picked up your bow and began fiddling with it
“What are ya doin’ Y/n” he stopped what he was doing and looked at you.
“Jus’ sittin’ is all” you fiddle some more “and wondering” he went back to the fire
“about what?” you looked around your makeshift camp.
“if all of this will be over soon, and when we can go back” you looked up at him with hopeful eyes.
Jason stayed quiet, he didn't know. But if he was honest, he didn't mind it all that much–could go without the living dead though– it was like an extended camping trip.
              SNAP
Your blood ran cold when you heard the groans and snarls coming closer. You shot up when you saw them closing in on the car. Your mom was running towards you as you held your stuff.
She grabbed your arm and ran to the woods as Jason and Steven stayed behind to fight them off. Your Momma dragged you into the woods further and further. You kept looking back to see other eaters staggering toward you
“Mo-momma, they’re behind us!” your mom just ran faster “I-I know baby but we just need ru-” Out of nowhere an eater came and attacked her.
She let go of your hand when another one latched its dirty maw on her shoulder. Her screams were horrid, you imagine it was the same scream she let out when the love of her life and baby were in the hospital. Just filled with horror and dread.
“Y/n, Y/n YOU NEED TO RUN!” you shook your head with tears in your eyes “NO LISTEN AND RUN NOW!” hearing the groans of another eater behind you made you run off into the woods. Crying as you heard the cries of your momma.
                                ~~~ 2010, A few weeks later~~~
              You had been on your own for a few weeks since your camp had been overrun. You thought about going back to it, to see if Jason or Steven got out okay. Well if Jason got out, you were sure Steven did. And you knew if he got out safe then Steven was safe–probably.
But you were on your own, so you had rules now: Always move, Stay in the trees at night, And NEVER stay if it's too quiet.
That's how you made it all these weeks alone. You rationed the food you managed to hunt on your own. It was small, with rabbits, birds, and a raccoon once. It was odd but it kept you fed.
At night you'd find a tree with a sturdy branch, climb it, ruffle in your bag for something to tie around you and the branch, and sleep. And repeat the cycle again the next morning.
*
              You were currently in a tree, just waking up from sleep. The denim jeans you used to keep you tied to the tree were a little loose. You gathered your things, putting your bow around your torso, same with your bag.
You nimbly climbed down the tree and leaped out on the last branch and landed on the forest floor, you fumbled a bit but were fine nonetheless.
You made a small fire and cooked the last of the rabbit meat you had. After that, you put the fire out and continued on your way to nowhere.
You suppose you were in a good part of the woods, cause you could hear the birds singing some little tune they came up with. You humed along to it while walking on a fallen tree, balancing on it like a tightrope walker.
You stopped walking when you noticed deer tracks and debated on following them or not, but decided to just do it anyway, no set direction and all.
You followed them to a clearing, there wasn't anything there though so you just sat on a log. You figured it was safe enough to relax a bit. With an arrow, you start drawing random things in the dirt. You liked drawing, it was a pastime you did before.
You started drawing hearts, butterflies, and flowers, pretty things really. Then you drew your Momma, she was beautiful in your eyes, with long hair that reached her midback, and her beautiful green eyes.
You stopped what you were doing when you heard something in the distance, it sounded like something talking. You quickly loaded your bow and stood up aiming your bow at the noise.
There you saw two men. One was old, with short-cropped grey hair. He was bigger than the other one. The other guy was younger and more scrawny, he had squirrels tied around a rope,  he had a crossbow, also aimed at you, and the old guy had a hunting rifle
   “Well well well, what do we have here baby brother,” Old Guy said with the meanest grin on his face.
safia ran through the woods, a small herd was following her, though she knew she wasn’t able to take them on, there were too many. as she ran she saw blurs of green, brown and blues, she didn’t know where she was going, hell she didn’t know when she was even going to eat again. after awhile of running she hid behind a tall tree, catching her breath. as she stood still she heard rustling coming, it was only one biter. she pulled her knife out and got ready to attack.
she reached nearer and nearer to the noise before it stopped. now was her chance. she jumped out of the bushes only to be met with not a biter, but a man no older than 40. “the hell ya doin’?!” the man shouted, she furrowed her eyebrows. “thought you were a biter. sorry” she turned, ready to go back to the bushes. “hey, hold on” the man spoke, “you don’t look more than 13, wheres your mom?” she shook her head. “dunno. none of your business” safia barked back. “you alone?” the man asked another question, “yeah? what of it?” “you should come with me, i gotta camp back” he pointed behind him. safia thought for a second, she did need food, plus she could take some water too. she nodded, “fine” the man spoke again, “names daryl” “safia” she responded back, quickly.
Walking. It was all you had done your entire life. Well at least it felt like that. Your feet were sore and your boots and socks felt like they had drowned in water. Your hair stuck to your head by sweat and your backpack was held together with a piece of rope. You didn’t have any water left and no food. There were no berries in the forest you were currently in and you felt like dying of exhaustion on the spot you stood at.
It had been this way for a while. You had once been tempted to end it all. But you didn’t know if you were too much of a coward or if you were driven by your parents. At least you felt like a coward, you didn’t end it all to meet your parents again, like they told you to do if they ever died. But maybe you had twisted their words. Maybe that hadn’t been what they said. No. They hadn’t. It had been such a long time ago that you didn’t remember their voices anymore. Nor did you remember what they said. You had just desperately clung to some sentence you once heard from someone. Until you thought your parents were the ones who said it. But they didn’t. You knew that deep inside. Because they were the only ones you could ever trust with your life. Not even the group the three of you had once been in.
The first group had been horrible and it didn’t take long for your little family to leave. The next group died except for your family. The only thing you remembered from that time was that you felt like you had cheated death. You had in some kind of way, your parents too. But death always collects what’s theirs. Don’t they?
At least death had collected your parents. Why it spared you, you’d never know but that’s how it is. And will continue to be. You always got spared. All the groups you've ever been in, you’d been the only survivor. The time a herd came upon you when you accidentally wandered out alone in the woods. The time your parents died. The walkers had ripped the meat that were once your parents' dead corpses away. Just before that a group of men had killed your parents, shot them in the stomach until they bled out to death. They hadn’t even cared to stick something in their heads so that they wouldn’t turn. No, the group of men had left that for you to do. You eventually did, not wanting them to turn. But you had still stayed with the dead corpses not willing yourself to leave as warm tears ran down your cheeks. Silent sobs racking through your body. The herd had come a while later. But somehow you got away. You cheated death once more.
Until now. You genuinely thought you’d die. The man in front of you still held the gun pointed straight at your face. You were frozen. It was never good to run when someone held a gun pointed your way. “Maybe this was it” you thought “maybe you’d finally meet your parents again”. But you had no such luck. You’d cheated death once more.
It was strange. Just moments before he talked to you in a low, calm and dangerous voice, telling you to slowly turn around. But when you did so, he’d lowered his gun. Was he really the only person you’d ever met that wasn’t able to kill a child. Well no that’d be a lie, you had met a man before, named Negan, who helped you once, he helped you cheat death. Exactly like this man in front of you did.
Rick, who had just gone out on a run for supplies, had trekked into the forest with Daryl not far behind. They were supposed to see if they could find any new places to scavenge, to see if they could find anything that was edible. Instead Rick found himself tracking a human. They hadn’t had anyone coming near Alexandria for a while now and after the Wolves they needed to be careful. However Rick still found himself lowering his gun after you’d turned around. You didn’t even look scared. You just looked tired. Like nothing didn’t really mattered anymore. Like giving up. He got reminded of his son, Carl. Rick couldn’t shoot you, not when you reminded him of Carl. You were just a teenager alone in the world, with probably nothing left. He couldn’t just leave you here not like this, so he offered you some food, even though they were short of it.
You looked at him like he was crazy. You sure as hell weren’t going to take food offered to you by someone who just moments before pointed a gun your way. Hadn’t he ever heard of “stranger danger”. It was something every kid learned, to not trust strangers. That was more than accurate in the world you all now lived in. So instead of taking the food your eyes were glued on him. You didn’t move an inch, afraid he was going to shoot you. He didn’t. He never would.
Rick liked to think that he was a great judge of character. So for starters he knew you were smart. Not taking food from a stranger was smart, you could never know if someone had poisoned it or what they’d done to it. The second thing he noticed was how even if you were tired you still watched your surroundings with great care. Every snap from a stick breaking away from a tree because of the wind, or the growls that came nearer. You were hyper aware of your surroundings. You’d even known he came before he even did, as you were hiding from him. However Rick had been as good of a tracker as you and found you either way. He watched how the grip of your knife tightened as the walkers came closer, now visible to both you and him. Your stares on each other faltered as the walkers came even closer.
You both stared for a moment before coming to a silent agreement. Take out the walkers and continue after. None of you wanted to die that day, so taking away the most danger at the moment was the best option.
The two of you ran over to the six walkers and took them out one by one. Except for the last one, which somehow got advantage of Rick as he fell down, the Walker landing on top of him. You hesitated for a moment before you’d went over with your knife, plunging it straight into the head of the Walker, making its movement stop. Saving Rick.
After that Rick offered you food once more and this time you accepted it, after all the two of you had just killed a group of walkers together, there was nothing wrong with taking the food he offered now. Because it did take a great deal of trust to kill something, trust was needed to succeed, to trust the other to help when needed. Trust the other to take out the once you can’t, trust them to not leave you to do all the work.
As you sat and ate a sandwich (Rick doing the same), you couldn’t help but to savor the taste. It had been far too long since you ate something, especially a sandwich, you’d mostly eaten berries, blueberries for the most part. To eat a sandwich right now was like you came to heaven on a whole new level.
Rick noticed that you ate like you’d been starved for days, which he guessed you probably were. So he decided to start with his three famous questions.
“How many walkers have you killed” he needed to know that you could kill walkers, however he guessed what the answer would be. Being a teenager out in the woods, and alone for that matter, you couldn’t have avoided walkers all this time, no one could.
“S’rry what” you hadn’t completely heard what he said being to engrossed in eating your sandwich. “How many walkers have you killed” Rick repeated the question once more as he stared at you.
Still a bit weary of him you shrugged at first. You might have given him a bit of trust, but you could never be too careful, he was a stranger after all. “I don’t know, how should I know, didn’t know I was s’posed to count, it’s not like it matters really, but if you want to know, I guess a lot would work as an answer, must be more than hundred at least, I mean I’ve been alone for a hike now” you hadn’t meant to day the last part, but it came out anyway and you could do nothing but to regret your words. You knew full well you should have kept quiet.
Rick nodded once at your answer before he continued with his questions. “How many people have you killed” he saw you tense at the question. By that he knew your answer. You’d killed a lot.
“A lot, but they deserved it”
“Why?”
You still didn’t look his way. “The first ones killed my parents, the others either tried to kill me, or do other things to me, saved a couple of humans too from other humans” Rick gave you a look at the last part. “Don’t worry I knew which ones were good people”
“How would you like it if you came back with me, to my place, we have walls, food” food might have been a lie at the moment but he needed you to come with him, he couldn’t leave you here. “Water, nice people, you would be able to leave whenever you want to, we even have other people your age, we can offer you safety and a place to call home” you were quiet for too long in Rick’s eyes so he continued. “What do you say?”
“Do you have comic books?” Rick chuckled at this and nodded. “Fine, but if I don’t get a single Marvel comic when I get there I’m leaving” you stretched out your hand towards him wanting to make a deal of it. The man in front of you took it and while the two of you shook hands you couldn’t help but to ask him a question.
“Haven’t you ever heard of stranger danger” Rick chuckled at your words, of course he’d heard of it. But to have it said to him right now, after the two of you just fought off walkers, after you saved his life. After he asked you to join them and after you had a meal together. Even after you agreed to go with him. It was funny to him, and Rick sure as hell could use a bit of fun about now. Definitely after the last several shity days.
the sounds of leaves crunching beneath the weight of someone's boots startle y/n from her sleep. in a quick, but quiet motion, she unties the skipping rope from around her torso that she used to secure her to the tree she sought refuge in the night prior. peeking her head out behind the tree ever so slightly, y/n was able to notice a man crouching close to the ground, his vision is cast down at the ground. to anyone it would've looked like he was just admiring a cool rock or something, but y/n recognised what he was doing. he was a tracker.
"hey!" y/n called down to the man, who immediately stood up and aimed his crossbow up at her, "you huntin'?"
he didn't respond and continued glaring at her, though he hesitates to keep his crossbow pointed at her. she's a kid, a scrawny looking one at that. it's not like she could do much to harm him.
"you deaf or something?" y/n raised an eyebrow at him, she reached over to her backpack and dug through it for a few seconds. before he could question her, a dead squirrel was flung from the tree and landed on the ground in front of daryl. he crouched down to the ground to pick it up, but kept his crossbow aimed at the girl.
"thanks," he grunts in acknowledgment, securing the squirrel to his back.
"where ya headed?" y/n kicked her legs back and forth as they dangled over the branch she had slept on the previous night.
"ain't ya a nosey bitch," he scoffed, squinting his eyes at her.
"hey, i just gave you free food, asshole!" y/n yells, her words accompanied by an impolite hand gesture, "where you goin'? got a camp?"
when she received no answer from the man, she reached around the tree trunk, unhooking her bow from a knife she had stabbed into the tree to create a makeshift hanger for the bow. she pulled the knife out of the tree and cut her backpack down from a piece of rope she had tied around a higher branch. slinging the bag over one shoulder, she slipped her knife into a sheath by her belt and held up the bow, waving it at daryl, "i know how to hunt. lemme come with."
daryl lowered his crossbow, but his lip twitched in annoyance, "whatever, if a geek shows up i ain't savin' y'er ass."
y/n rolled her eyes, but didn't dignify his words with a response and instead secured her bow and quiver to her back. she swung the skipping rope she had previously tied around herself around the tree and wrapped both ends around her hands and slowly made her way down the tree.
"geeks?" y/n scoffed, a smirk growing on her face, "that what you call 'em?"
daryl glared at the teen, "what'd you call 'em then, smartass."
"biters," y/n shrugged, reaching behind her back to retrieve her bow and an arrow from her quiver, "y'know, 'cause they bite?"
"whatever," daryl began walking, following the same tracks he had been previously, "ya out here alone?"
"yeah." y/n's tone sharpened, "you?"
daryl looked over his shoulder briefly, surprised that someone so young survived on their own, "nah, ma' brother 'n some group."
"really?" y/n questioned, surprise evident in her tone. she spins, looking around with false curiosity, "you seem pretty alone to me."
daryl was starting to lose his patience with the smart mouthed girl, "shut up."
the two tracked in silence, occasionally killing walkers in their way. y/n could tell that the man was not a threat to her, but she kept quiet to avoid antagonising him. the girl did annoy daryl, but he had to admit to himself she had valuable skills that none of the kids at the camp had, but he would keep that to himself. there was a clear difference in abilities between the girl and the other children he knew of. this kid was alone and alive with nothing more than a few faint bruises and scrapes across her skin.
y/n stopped in her tracks, aiming her bow at a squirrel on a tree. she pulled the arrow back to her cheek and when she was confident with her aim, she released the arrow, impaling the squirrel.
"nice shot." daryl grunted, watching her pull the arrow out the tree and then out of the squirrel.
"thanks," y/n smirked at daryl, "you're pretty good with that crossbow."
daryl rolls his eyes. pretty good? he was damn good.
"so what's your name?" y/n asked, following him again.
daryl stayed quiet for a few moments, contemplating whether or not he should tell the tree-dwelling girl his name. he figured it wouldn't hurt, "daryl."
"daryl." y/n repeats his name to herself, "you ain't a rapist or nothin' right?"
"huh?" daryl's head snaps in y/n's direction, startled by the question.
"stranger danger? ever heard of it?" y/n raises an eyebrow at the man, her tone slightly patronising.
"if i was a rapist, 'm sure y'would've figured that out by now."
"not that you asked, but my name's y/n." she rolled her eyes, looking back at the ground to spot any other trails to follow.
"ya don't look a day over ten, how old're you?" daryl asked, the question had been on his mind the entire time she had been following him. he was curious how she had made it so far without anyone.
"i'm twelve actually." y/n states matter-of-factly, her eyes squinting at the back of his head as she corrected him.
"big difference." he scoffed.
"it is a big difference. next year i'll be a teenager." she says, her voice full of pride.
daryl grunts in acknowledgement, but didn't press the subject further. the thought that she may not live to make it to her teens passes through his mind, but he dismissed it quickly. there was no time to think about the future anymore, there was only now. not that daryl spent much time thinking about the future anyways.
the two had gathered a large haul in the time they hunted together, but despite this daryl continued walking and y/n followed.
"this deer better be worth it." daryl grumbled.
y/n heard rustling coming from ahead and shushed daryl. he turned to look at her and she had put her finger to her lip to signal him to be quiet. daryl's jaw clenched in annoyance, but he held his tongue and decided he could give her an earful later. she was telling him to be quiet? yeah right.
they both readied their weapons as quietly as they could and slowly approached the noise ahead, suspecting a walker ahead. daryl walked ahead into a small clearing where a group of men all had weapons held up.
"son of a bitch!" daryl yelled, lowering his weapon and making his way over to the deer, "that's ma' deer!"
y/n kept her bow up, staring at the group of men intensely. daryl clearly knew these men well enough to lower his weapon, but y/n didn't have a clue whether they could be trusted.
"look at it. all gnawed on by this.." daryl stared at the deer in disgust, "filthy, disease-bearing, motherless poxy bastard!" each word he said was accompanied by a kick to the corpse's side.
"calm down, son. that's not helping." one of the men spoke up. y/n stayed quiet, not walking out into the clearing until she knew it was safe to do so. the men were yet to notice her, far too distracted by daryl's outburst to even consider there being another person.
"what'd you know 'bout it, old man?" daryl stepped closer to dale, "why don't ya take that stupid hat and go back to on golden pond?"
"i've been trackin' this deer for miles." daryl complained, pulling his arrows out of the deer, "s'gonna drag it back to camp, cook us up some venison. what'd you think? d'ya think we can cut around this chewed up part right here?"
"i would not risk that," shane responded.
"that's a damn shame," daryl sighed, "i got some squirrel, 'bout a dozen or so, that'll have to do."
y/n noticed the walker's head detached from its body move, no one had killed the brain. she aimed her bow at the walker's head and released the arrow, her shot puncturing it through the skull.
"c'mon people, what the hell?" daryl scoffed, "it's gotta be the brain. don't y'all know nothin'?"
the men were suddenly on guard again, staring at the girl who shot the arrow, "who the hell is that?!"
y/n lowered her bow and raised her hands in the air to show she wasn't a threat.
"some dumb kid, found 'er in a tree." daryl grunted walking away, "merle!"
rick looked over at dale, silently telling him to deal with the girl, whilst him and shane dealt with daryl. dale nodded at rick and waited for rick to leave and follow after daryl.
"what's your name, kid?" dale smiled at the girl, trying his best to not intimidate her.
"what's your's?" y/n squinted her eyes at him.
"i'm dale, the other's you saw were shane, rick, glenn and jim. you seem to know daryl, so no need to tell you his name," he explained, "i've given you a few names now, do i get to know your's?"
"y/n," she nodded, "got a few squirrels, take as much as you 'n your group need 'n i'll be on my way."
"that's quite generous of you, y/n," dale compliments as he watches y/n pull a rope with dead squirrels attached off her shoulder and threw it on the ground towards him.
"call it southern hospitality or whatever," she shrugged, putting her bow on her back. she grabbed her arrow from the walker's skull and tucked it back into her quiver.
"you sure your folks won't want some?" dale tilted his head. he was good with his words, each word chosen on purpose to figure out the girl in front of him.
"when you see my folks, give me a holler, ain't seen 'em in a while," y/n scoffed, eyeing dale as he crouched to the ground to pick up the rope and dead squirrels.
"why don't you stay a bit then? eat with a group of people for a change?" dale smiled kindly, gesturing back to the camp behind him.
y/n looked behind him to see daryl in a chokehold and she raised an amused eyebrow at dale, "seems like y'all got plenty of entertainment, why not."
dale furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and turned back to see the commotion, "it's not always like this.."
"damn shame that is," y/n laughed, walking towards the camp with dale following close behind. shane throws daryl to the ground, releasing him from the chokehold and y/n smirked, amused at the scene unfolding in front of her.
"what i did was not on a whim," rick stared at daryl, "your brother does not work and play well with others."
"what happened?" y/n whispered to dale.
"rick, the one in white, handcuffed daryl's brother to a rooftop.. left him there." dale replied honestly, looking at the ground with shame written across his face.
"i'd be pissed too." y/n sighed, crossing her arms over her chest. she had noticed people stare at her, but not say anything about her presence, seeing as there was a much bigger problem at hand.
"it's not rick's fault, i had the key. i dropped it." t-dog spoke up, y/n could tell by the way he looked and spoke that he felt guilty, ashamed even.
"ya couldn't pick it up?" daryl questioned, squinting at the other man.
"well, i dropped it in a drain."
daryl scoffed and lowered his head, he knelt on the ground for a few seconds before getting, "if it's supposed to make me feel better, it don't."
"well, maybe this will," t-dog paused for a second, "look, i chained the door to the roof, so the geeks couldn't get at him... with a padlock."
"it's gotta count for something." rick spoke to daryl with a calm voice, but y/n knew rick chose the wrong words to say to the pissed off redneck.
daryl rubbed his face in frustration, wiping the tears he felt in his eyes, "t'hell with all y'all! just tell me where he is, so's i can go get him!"
"he'll show you," a woman spoke up, "isn't that right?"
rick processed her words for a few seconds and began nodding, "i'm goin' back."
the woman stepped back into the rv and y/n stared at her in confusion. she seemed upset that the man was going back, but she practically just volunteered him.
daryl walked off, obviously not touched by rick's offer and now that daryl was gone, people in the camp that had noticed y/n turned to her.
"damn, i was just startin' to enjoy myself," y/n muttered to herself, dale's lips cracking a smile of amusement at her words.
TWD Carl x reader
In the forest, the air was warm and dewy as I ran for my life; and the scenery was slightly too bright and cold for my stiff body at the moment. Water made its way into my worn out shoes from the many puddles that littered the ground.
I used to dream of this moment like it would be the "happiest ever after," but now that it's happening, I would rather be sitting in the dark cell imagining it all.
-Carl's p.o.v-
My father and I walked through the dense woods scavenging for un-raided buildings or bunnies. The prison was starting off well but had limited food—plus, Mom had eaten much of our rations during her pregnancy, not to mention baby food. Glenn and Maggie are also on a run at the moment, looking for baby supplies, while Dad and I are looking for food and weapons.
The soft crunching of our footsteps were silenced by someone else's. They were running. Fast. Dad and I shared a glance and raised our guns in the noise's direction. The sound of crunching leaves became deafening, probably because it's the only thing I could focus on.
Through the closely packed trees emerged a girl with a sweaty, dirty face and a small satchel across her torso. She stopped in her tracks and, very quickly, put her hands up. "Please, please don't take me back! I don't have an actual reason for you not to, but... please," her voice was surprisingly steady and as calm as it could be, considering the two guns pointed at her face.
Again, I looked to my dad, but he kept his gaze locked on the girl. "Who would we be taking you back to?" he asked, his gun still pointing at her forehead.
"Is this some sort of sick joke? Is this entertaining to you, because if so why don't you call over all the other deranged guys you hide behind?" Her lower lip had begun quivering and her eyes had pooled with tears as she spoke.
My face and neck trained forward, but my eyes shifted from my father to the girl. Dad shaked his gun arm threateningly. "Who would we be taking you back to?" he repeated, more harsh this time.
"Th-the Living, but please, please don't." By now her voice started to shake and she shut her eyes tight. "I won't cause any problems, I promise, I'll do anything I'm asked to, I won't say another word. I've only just escaped! Stop, will you please stop? I'm scared!"
Her voice rang through my head, and I lowered my gun, Dad following suit. Small twigs snapped under my feet as I walked towards her slowly as if she was as skittish as a deer knowing she was scared and tried to come off without threat.
"Hey, we aren't with The Living. We live at a nearby prison; it's really secure. Would you like to come with us?"
Her eyes finally unscrewed when I lightly placed my hand on her shoulder and got a good look into them, noticing the beautiful colours and depth. Stunning. She stared back at me, gradually relaxing. "Wh-who else is at this prison?" she whispered, still very wary of us.
My remaining parent spoke up from behind us. "We have a large group of forty to fifty people, and enough food to feed all of us, including you"—her staggeringly beautiful eyes left mine to look at Dad before she spoke.
"I would like to go with you to your prison." Her voice was pleasant in my ears, but anxiety was still evident in her tone. However, she still had to earn our trust.
"Before we reveal the location of our prison, we have three, only three, questions for you," I said and composed myself, averting my gaze to the surrounding woods.
"Well...what are the questions?" she asked, looking between me and Dad.
"How many walkers have you killed?" my father asked.
"Was I supposed to be keeping count?" she responds.
"How many people have you killed?" I said, ignoring her question and looking back at her.
"Two." The word was spoken without a hint of regret.
And the most important question, by far: "Why?" I asked, holding eye contact.
"I killed them," she paused, her gaze drifting down to the ground, "so I could get away from the Living."
My Dad spoke, once again pulling my watch from her face. "What have they done to you?" Silence passed through the woods like a title wave. By then we had come to the realization, the world really has no hope left.
Dad and I looked at each other and he nodded. I face the girl in front of me and remain quiet for a moment as she plays with the hem of her shirt, unsure at the leaves in front of her shoe. Appearing to catch her by surprise, I stuck my hand out, smiling gently. "I'm Carl" I announce
Hesitantly, she took it, her palm fitting perfectly in mine, and I noticed the warmth. "Y/n," she said, briefly squeezing my hand before letting go, making it extremely hard not to blush.
The three of us made our way through a neighborhood to grab her some clothes before continuing to the prison. Halfway through, we started up a conversation, instantly getting along. She is the most adorable person to walk the earth nowadays, the way she messes with the hems on her clothes when nervous, or how she doesn't notice the cracks in the road and nearly face plants every time we pass one—and it's not like she tries to be, she just is...
I might have a slight crush on a cute girl named Y/n.
Teen spirit
Pairing: Carl Grimes × reader, Maggie Greene × sister reader
Warnings: Swearing
Chapter: 5.07
“Why can’t Maggie be in here?”
An older woman with auburn hair named Deanna smiles at you. She was in charge of Alexandria, and she would be deciding if your group would get to stay or not. You didn’t mind talking to her initially, but what made you uneasy was her videoing your conversation and not allowing your sister to sit in the room with you.
“I won't bite,” she smiles. “I don’t want to make you feel uncomfortable; I just want to ask you a few questions.”
When your group first arrived in Alexandria, everyone was made to hand their weapons over, and now being asked personal questions... it felt intrusive. Deanna straightens out old-fashioned flora curtains before wiping her finger along her bookcase, which was fully stacked. She smudges the dust between her fingers, then turns to you and asks, “How long have you been out there?”
“Uh, I’m unsure. Two years maybe.”
She sits down in the chair across from you and asks, “How did you all find each other?”
“When someone got shot, they were brought to my family's farmhouse so my dad could help save them.”
She looks intrigued. “Is your father a doctor?”
“No, he was a veterinarian.”
“Smart man. I’m assuming because you’re referring to him in the past tense, he’s no longer with us.”
“I lost my dad not long ago.”
“Have you lost anybody else?”
“I lost my big brother Shawn, mom, and cousin Arnold all on the same day. Walkers attacked them. My dad and sister were killed by people.”
“I’m sorry to hear that,” she says, sounding sincere. “How old are you?”
“Fifteen.”
Deanna shakes her head and says, “You are far too young to have lost so much. I truly am sorry. So, as far as I’m aware, Rick is the leader of your group.”
“Yeah, pretty much.”
“How do you think he does?”
You thought you could handle a few more questions, but tears began to swell. You didn’t like being asked anything because it brought everything you'd been through back. “Rick is a good person; everyone in our group is. We’re a family.”
Your group was given two large houses to stay in for now, but so far everyone has just gathered into one and is taking turns cleaning up. Being in the walled-off community felt like being in a TV show where the rich housewives live in the suburbs. The only thing you felt was normal was Daryl cutting open a possum while sitting on the porch. Your eyes widen when Rick walks outside; he has showered and shaved off his beard, making him look like a completely different person.
But then again, you looked different. After showing Rosita how to braid your hair, a nice blonde woman named Jesse dropped off some clean clothes for you to wear, along with toys for Judith.
“Has anyone been there yet?” You point to the house next door.
“I don’t think so,” Carl says, looking up at his dad. “Can we go check it out?”
Hesitantly, Rick agrees. “You can go look; just be quick and stick together.”
The house next door was nearly identical, aside from a few decorations. Growing up on a farm, you’d never dreamed of living in a modern home built like this. Carol had come with you to check it out; she was now leaning out of the kitchen window, talking to the people who live in the house next door.
When you hear a thumping noise coming from upstairs, you jump and grab Carl’s wrists. “Shit, sorry.” Feeling heat rush to your cheeks, you let go. “I’m just on edge.”
“It’s fine.” Carl offers you his hand. “I get it; I’m scared all the time too.”
He loosely holds onto your hand as you walk up the stairs, and when you reach the room, the noise is coming from Carl. He pulls out his knife and waits for you to do the same before pushing the door open. The room looks like a typical teenage hangout spot; the floor was covered in magazines, comics, CDs, and weirdly designed pillows with posters of bands you’ve never heard of before pinned to the walls.
“It’s weird, isn’t it?” Carl says, “These are probably things we would have been interested in if things were different.”
“Not me,” you sigh. “I would never have been allowed magazines with half-naked women on the cover. Shawn was grounded for two months when Maggie found a magazine with a woman wearing nothing but a bikini under his bed.”
Carl laughs while kicking a dusty blanket aside to see what’s underneath it. After a few moments of silence, he says, “You never talk about your brother much.”
A fleeting smile tugs at your lips. Being the youngest, Shawn completely doted on you, and as a child, you would follow him around like a shadow. He always had time for you. His death hit you so hard because you thought he would always be there to protect you, but he died trying to save your mom from walkers.
“Hope? You okay, you kind of zoned out there.”
Hearing Carl’s voice, you snap out of your thoughts and back to reality. “Yeah,” you say, smiling at him. “I was just thinking that my brother would have really liked you.”
You bite the insides of your cheeks to stop yourself from laughing. Judith looks so confused as an elderly couple. Natalie and Bob Miller fuss over her. It was clear there weren’t many kids around, and this was the first time anyone had seen a baby in years, so they were all excited to see Judith.
“Is that Jesse?” Carl asks quietly.
You look up and see his dad talking to her, “Yeah, she’s nice.”
“My dad seems to like her. He says we’re to go to her house later and meet her son, Ron.”
It was weird; the idea of being a normal teenager was starting to freak you out.
After showing you around his home, Ron led you and Carl up to his bedroom to introduce you to his friend Mikey and girlfriend Enid. You were still trying to wrap your head around the idea of returning to school in the afternoons, which was held in a garage, when Carl nudges you with his elbow to gain your attention.
“Sorry, what?”
Ron chuckles. “I said cool bracelet; where do you get it?”
“Em, Carl found them,” you mutter.
“Neat, kind of like a souvenir of the apocalypse.” He pushes his bedroom open. “Enid, Mikey, this is Carl and Hope.”
After an awkward introduction, Ron lists the different things that they do while hanging out, such as reading comics, playing video games, and playing pool. The fact they had electricity from solar panels was mind-blowing enough, but seeing all the stuff they had was leaving you speechless.
You smile at Enid as you sit on the edge of Ron's double bed, while Carol joins the other boys in playing video games. You thought it was a little bit in bad taste; they were playing a zombie video game, but don’t mind watching until a particular scene happens: one of the players finds a sword and begins decapitating the undead.
You and Carl exchange a look before you excuse yourself. “I gotta go; I need to help Maggie with something.”
Rick isn’t the slightest surprised when he enters Carl’s new bedroom and finds you in it as well. You were staring out the window in his room that overlooks the woods outside, watching as walkers gathered on the opposite side of the wall. While Carl lay on his bed, staring up at the ceiling.
Rick sits at the edge of the bed, asking, “How was Ron’s house?”
“What do you think of this place?” Carl asks him.
“Well, I think it seems nice.”
“Yeah, I like it here. I like the people, but they’re weak. And I don’t want us to get weak.”
The people here don’t have a clue what it’s like on the outside, and if the walkers broke through the wall, most of them would be dead in five minutes.
When Rick leaves, you go and sit on the floor with your back against the bed. You pick up one of the comics Carl found earlier, place it in your lap, and start to flip through. Feeling a tap on your shoulder, you look up and ask, “What?”
Carl looks as if he’s struggling to say something; after a moment, he swings his arm lower and links his fingers with yours.
A good job | the walking Dead x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: You have been taken from your family by Negan, he wants to make you a leader in the Sanctuary.
Word count: 0.6k
Tumblr media
-Your daughter is a spectacular girl. - Negan walks over to his father who is looking coldly at the man who took you away from them. Rick looks at you on top of the truck.
It had been two months since you were taken to the sanctuary, Negan had forbidden any contact with you, when the group tried to save you quickly the plan went wrong and they returned home without you.
You went to live with Negan, he started to see you as a daughter, so he put you as a future leader of the Saviors. He saw the potential, saw how you dealt with others without fear. Negan wanted you to become like him, and in a short time you were putting terror in the sanctuary. Every Savior knelt to you, after you commanded respect, everyone saw you as a leader.
Negan was ecstatic that you stole Rick's daughter and made her like his daughter. Negan was doing anything you asked, he was like a puppy dog.
Today entering Alexandria after months, everyone stopped to see you, dark clothes like Negan, your eyes went to each one there that you knew as a child, your brothers were there. Your best friend Daryl was there beside your father. You got out of the truck and just stood there.
-See how my daughter is a copy of her father. - Negan smiles and turns to you. - I'm so proud of her.
-She's my daughter. - Rick growled. - You took her from her home.
-I made her a strong girl, she's not afraid, because I made her powerful. That son of a bitch is amazing. - Negan came to you. - She commands the Saviors, when I die she will take over.
-Yes.- you say, you look at the Saviors signaling for a group to approach. - Now the rescuers do as I say.
You look at your father and then at Negan who is smiling.
-Do you see? She is my daughter now, blood ties don't make a family. Come on, tell them who you are.
Negan looked at you holding Lucille, you laughed knowing that he wanted you to say "I am Negan" you heard that a lot. You saw your family looking at you in pain.
-Negan... I am . - you looked coldly at the man. -I'm yn... Rick's daughter... And I run the fucking Saviors. - you signal, the Saviors hold Negan back, the man is screaming in anger. - On his knees.
The Saviors kick Negan making him fall to his knees in front of you.
-You've taken many people out of our lives, did you really think you were going to make me change sides? - you laugh as you pull the jacket off your own body. - Slit his throat.
One of the rescuers passed the blade, but you stopped him.
-Get away. - you order the group of rescuers. -Turn around," you command. - I want everyone now on their knees dropping their weapons to the ground.
Everyone does, Negan is in shock holding his slit throat.
-Death is easy for you Negan... And we're not giving it to you. - Maggie stops beside him. - You've done a good job of manipulating Negan.
Negan looked at you again.
-I've really done a good job with you. - he laughed before Daryl punched him. You just looked at Negan wondering if he really had any effect on you.
-You're not like him. - Daryl whispered.
Is that so?
