A big thank you
Prelude: I never wanted to watch Game of Thrones. I never planned to invest in any of the characters from the show, and I had zero interest in the story. Some years ago, I was a devoted Once Upon a Time (ABC) fan. I enthusiastically watched every episode, and I belonged to a fandom for the first time in my life. It was an eye-opening experience, and then my newfound shipper heart grew tenfold with Captain Swan, the pairing between Emma (main character) and Killian (Captain Hook). We only hoped at first they would become a couple, and then our greatest dream eventually came true: they were a canon ship. I was so proud and thrilled. I never dreamed I could write anything longer than a short story, but here I was, penning over 500,000 words of fanfic for them. They were a shining light guiding me through storytelling, and I will never forget that they inspired me to write novel-length fics.
Sadly, all good things must come to an end. The fire died out. I had 3 unfinished fics left. And my original writing - the novels I wanted to create myself, apart from fanfic - was in shambles. My writing spark was disappearing. At some point these past several years, I wondered if I was actually meant to be a writer at all, or if I was just fooling myself. Was it all just a happy coincidence? My writer's block grew. I haven't written anything for the past 2 years.
Suddenly and quite unexpectedly, Jorah and Daenerys from Game of Thrones appeared in my YouTube recommendations just a few weeks ago. Only them, mind you. Maybe the algorithm had somehow figured out my previous obsession with Anastasia and Iskender from Magnificent Century: Kosem, a Turkish TV show with a doomed, unrequited love between a knight and the girl who would someday become his queen (beautiful score, by the way). Or maybe it wasn't that at all. My interest was piqued. Who was Jorah, and why was he so loyal to Daenerys? Loyalty intrigues me. It's one of the traits I treasure most in characters, so of course I went "down the rabbit hole" and found out everything there was to know about Jorah's relationship with Daenerys. Of course it had to be unrequited. Of course it never became canon. But I love it. It's a wonderful story of devotion, growth, caring. I get that people saw the age difference as an obstacle, but I think that Jorah's love was so rare in this world of selfish desires. It was refreshing - and very romantic. Cynic though I am in reality, I am at heart a romantic, and I always will be.
Continuing from YouTube and whatever I could glean, I found myself looking here on Tumblr for gifsets, fanfiction...and I visited AO3 after a prolonged absence to find every Jorleesi fanfic in existence. I laughed and smiled like I hadn't in such a long time.
Anyway, I'm so sorry to put this in the tags when I have nothing to offer but my sincere thanks. Thank you to all of you who love this ship. You helped a weary would-be writer get back on her feet and start typing again. Bless you! 💖 I'm so happy to be part of this lovely fandom.

What do think about reader being immorality or being from our time?( Your choice.) Like she ends up in the harem of yandere Suliyman or Murat IV
An interesting and beautiful request. You are a fan of the magnificent century and the magnificent century kosem series. You always read a lot of books about the Ottoman period. You always dream about Sultan Süleyman and Sultan Murat 4. One day, you are sleeping in front of the TV while watching the series. When you open your eyes, you realize that you are in another place. When you look around, you realize that you are in the harem. You are alarmed and afraid. You are looking for ways to go back in a few days. But you can't find any solution. You are chosen by Valide Sultan. In the evening, you are sent to the Sultan's room. Sultan (Süleyman/Murat) falls in love the first time he sees you. Sultan spends most of his time with you. Hünkar tells the truth and asks for help. However, Sultan does not want to send you. You get pregnant in no time. Hünkar gives you more than one child so you don't run away. There are always guards around you. Now you need to focus on your new life. You must fight to protect your children.

Since Magnificent Century (for the most part) follows the life and death of Hurrem from the moment she enters the harem and Magnificent Century: Kosem does the same for Kosem, which woman for the sultanate of women would you want to see an MC series spinoff about from her arrival to the harem until her death and what would you like covered?
Mine is Nurbanu. I think she was the most successful (personally and politically) and I’d love to see her entire life covered. There were so many time skips of her life in MC.
The things I’d want covered:
• Selim being forced to have other sons with other women in the harem but making it absolutely clear that he wants Murad to succeed and marrying Nurbanu to emphasize her position and his feelings for her. Plus her dowry of 110,000 ducats.
• Her overall relationship with Selim. She never fell out of favor with him and they were devoted to each other
• Her love for all things Venetian and how that reflects in her wardrobe, her furniture, her politics, etc.
• Her tense relationship with Mihrimah, especially when Mihrimah was acting as the unofficial Valide Sultan
• How she reacted to Selim’s death, how she was able to cover it up, and the rush to bring Murad to the capital
• The deaths of Selim’s other children
• THE PROCESSION OF THE VALIDE SULTAN (omg I’d do anything to see this moment on screen). I also think this is the point where she’d start openly wearing Hurrem’s ring bc she def wouldn’t do that in front of Mihrimah
• Her huge influence over Murad
• Her diplomacy with Catherine de Medici and the Dodge of Venice
• Her accusing Safiye of being a witch and giving Murad positions to make him infertile (Ik that sucks for Safiye a lot especially bc some of her closest servants and confidants were tortured but I think the whole situation is low key hilarious and would make amazing tv)
• Her funeral (MURAD OPENLY WEEPING IN FRONT OF HIS MOTHER’S CASKET) and him burying her next to Selim
Side note but I think Murad was very sentimental with the woman in his family. He buried Mihrimah next to her father, Suleiman. He buried his mother next to his father
I'm a passionate fan of the idea of a Nurbanu vs Safiye spinoff. I think there's so much to explore there.

Bita? Why is fanservice so looked down on in BL. Like okay I understand if the reason is we don't know for sure if actors or actresses are forced to do something they are uncomfortable with...but other than that, why is it looked down on.
Isn't it kind of like a promoting your product? Plenty of people all around the world do it. We have Bollywood stars making appearance on tv shows to promote their films. We have a whole ass opera playing on streets of turkey to promote magnificent century: kosem. This is just more hands on, isn't it? I don't understand.
Now, I'm a ship-and-let-ship typa girl. Just as long as real people aren't hurt or abused or forced to admit things about themselves that they don't want to, ship whoever you want.
The thing is, fan service is like you said, advertisement for a product (current show or future projects of a couple). It's cute. It's harmless. It gives fans MORE CONTENT after the show is finished.
The problem, to me, begins when people start getting bullied on the Internet for dating women, just because they were promoting a bl couple. For example, Mile from Kinnporsche. He's been in so much drama with people claiming that he's "using" Apo for fame. Which is ridiculous because Apo never said he was dating Mile and they're both adults.
Just look at the issue with Nanon from Bad Buddy. People got mad that he had girlfriends. This is prevalent, in part, because fan service exists.
Fans will ship whomever they want. I mean, I'm over here shipping Tem and Tankhun and they met only once. And I'll be honest, the shipping is because I saw a couple of videos of the actors. Fans will ship people who have never interacted. So I can't blame fanservice for that. But when the actors play up a relationship or some form of "specialness" to each other, it's easy for people to believe that it's real. When, half the time, it isn't.
And yeah, we might sometimes know that it's part of the job. Other times, we might not. And this leads to fans misbehaving, in the name of protecting their ship. Mew got called out for abandoning Gulf just because he was cast in another show. As if these men are tied together and are not supposed to breathe without each other.
Fan service has led to some unfortunate things.
HOWEVER,
Like the people who indulge in bullying actors for having real lives, there are also bullies on the other side of the issue who believe it is their place to bully people who believe in or support fan service.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with shipping two actors. Especially when they protray themselves as "interetsed" in each other, outside of the show. The problem begins when this shipping gets these actors stalked and bullied just because strangers that they've never met want to secure a ship.
This is really an issue of people not understanding boundaries, more than anything. Because if we just enjoyed the content that they were giving us without looking for more, all will be fine. And if people just minded their business about who other adults wanted to ship, all will also be fine.
But with this culture of getting in people's business, crazy shippers and crazy anti-shippers find themselves on the same side, as they both bully other people for not living in the same reality that they do.

What I Watched February 2022
Tumblr media
Still a very fun movie.
Tumblr media
It was okay, however the girl playing Cinderella couldn’t sing and her “smile” was alarming to say the least.
Tumblr media
Episode 1 - recently saw a lot of people mentioning it and hey, it’s available free of youtube, I do plan on watching more episodes soon.
Tumblr media
Magnificent Century: Kosem eps 1-5
I gave this a shot; it’s beautifully shot and well-acted but I kept getting so stressed for Anastasia that I had to give up. (But seriously it’s awesome)
Tumblr media
Watched this movie twice. XD Naturally, I love it, the songs are living rent free in my head. (also i have looked up many recipes for Colombian food, haven’t made any quite yet, but I have plans). I love Mirabel and Abuela breaks my heart.
Tumblr media
This movie was already in my official watch pile, the fact that it followed me fianally watching Encanto was coincidence but a good one. I love the colors of this one (the marigold bridges are never going to lose their sense of wonder and awe)
Tumblr media
I enjoyed season 13 a lot more than 12, and Prentis is great as BAU head. (also I’m sad Barnes didn’t die horribly)

Watching Ekin Koc as a sexy Seljuk ninja reminded me how obsessed I was with Magnificent Century Kosem and how hard I shipped his Sultan Ahmed with Kosem. MCK is one of the main reasons I rediscovered my love of Turkish shows as an adult.
This vid is delicious and the OTP was beyond anything even though I will never not be amused that they cast a blond actress as younger Anastasia and dark-haired Beren Saat as older one and never bothered with two actors for Ahmed but just had Ekin grow a beard to signify he is an adult.
This is a rare harem show I liked and shipped even tho they had him occasionally sleeping with other ladies because sultan. Mainly because in a context of a polygamous society with him at the apex where it wouldn’t even occur to him it’s weird to have a harem and also it’s his duty to sleep with a ton of them (gazillion characters discuss how much he needs to sleep when and with who to have as many heirs as possible the way one normally would do a breeding schedule on a farm), they made it clear he only loved her which I can be ok with.
I still think it’s hilarious though that poor Kosem got kidnapped from being a random island peasant because Ahmed’s crazy granny saw how her almost suicidal grandson the sultan glommed into a random portrait and was all “hey let’s kidnap the original to cheer him up.” Heh. And then Kosem eventually killed her so what goes around comes around?
Anyway, I think the relationship was the reason first season worked and second one was such a mess. It’s hard to watch a show where there aren’t characters you can super root for and seeing Kosem as Valide dealing with all her crazy children and ruling the place sort of palls if there isn’t an emotional hook there - in the first season, Ahmed and Kosem did plenty of dark stuff (though compared to the real ones they are saints) but you always had their relationship to root for and ship because they loved each other so. But that was obviously gone in s2. (They tried with Murad and Farya but were constricted by history aka Murad being a violent insane mess; though the bad writing which turned him from a cool fighter dude to a lunatic basically for no reason and explanation didn’t help.)
Anyway...
Lessons to take from Kosem are (a) if you are hot do not have your portrait painted (b) please make sure your hot husband is not being poisoned or you will be a widow dealing with bratty violent offspring without any sex relief (c) if you aren’t willing to risk small pox to save your sexy sultan husband, you might as well not be married and (d) being kidnapped into a harem kinda sucks but you get to rule the Ottoman Empire for decades as a compensation.

“They say "the way they died, is the way they are remembered".... Is that really true? A woman fits into many attributes in life, and she is someone else in every moment. She becomes a child, a woman, a mother and, if she is a beloved, intelligent servant of God, then she can even become a Sultana. I saw and lived through all of those, thank God. I tasted them all. But what capacity shall I be remembered as? What attribute shall describe me? What will they say about me centuries later? An innocent girl who fell in love with Sultan Ahmet, and who was torn away from her name? A powerful, charitable Valide Sultana who gave the imperial house of Osman four princes, kept the tent of the state standing, and kept the bellies of twenty thousand people full in her foundation? Or...a cruel woman, who for the sake of the sultanate went crazy for her own ambition and didn't even spare her own children? (...) The hand of death that reaches out has touched me...it is very cold, my body is cold, my soul and my heart. "O people. I was on the seventh level on earth. Hear me, look at me, know me. I am The Great mother, the Mother of the believers, Master of the Office, The Elder Valide, The Murdered Mother, Kosem Sultana! The refreshing rain is finished. The sweetness of spring. The lights have gone out. I have left, I have left the home of this world that has six doors. No right, no left, no death, no back no forward, no top, no bottom, the doors have closed. Before me, a journey unimaginable.”
