Turnsgiving day 1: traditions

On Thanksgiving for me I typically eat supper with my moms moms side of the fam and my Nana and Papa are the absolute best cooks ever its just good ol southern food that's the absolute best you'll never find better mac n cheese

Used to i would eat my great grandma's pecan pie every year until she passed and now my grandma makes it but it's not the same so I don't usually eat it anymore so now my tradition is just to stare daggers at my grandma's pie while my dad kisses up and tells her it's even better then my great grandma's which then makes me mad lol

Anyways that's my Thanksgiving we don't do much but it's a heck of a fun time

Turnsgiving Day 4: Rarepair/Crackship Appreciation

I'm not sure I have a rarepair/crackship appreciation from the show, but since OCs can count (I THINK? LOL) and 1. sorry everyone, (or not sorry?) but I am a FULL THROTTLE BEN GIRL so this is literally just going to be Ben and some OCs I love him with LOL.

First, @musicboxmemories was one of the first friends (if not THEE first friend) I made when I joined the fandom and posted my reader insert Ben fic and thus I fell down the rabbit hole of Ben fics and read her fanfic "To Kiss, to Consume" so I have to say Ben/Elizabeth is on my list of favorite rarepairs <3

Secondly, I guess shameless plug for my fic "New Love, New Haven." This was completely new territory for me because I always strictly did reader insert fics but for this one the idea I think was too big to do a "you" insert so I had fun coming up with Sadie and her character and now I'm more open to doing OC fics! (sorry for the run on sentence lol). But this fic is special to me in many ways because 1. I haven't abandoned it like others and 2. I got to work on my OC creating skills and now I'm way more inclined to do more!

turnsgiving2023 / day 1: traditions

his fingers stung, no longer from the sharp chill in the air but from the burning heat of the food. it made a poor main course - whale blubber - and caleb was certain there would be hell to pay later for the way the rich fat melted on his tongue, but it was all there was and his aching stomach was grateful for anything to fill it.

nothing more could be done when the snows had come early that year, forcing the smugglers to seek refuge in the nearest settlement, their meager whaling supplies and fresh caught fish all they had as offering.

grease dribbled down his hands, pooling at his wrists before he'd a chance to swipe a handkerchief to catch the fallout. the one respite to all of this - sitting crouched near the fire, steam swirling like smoke silhouetting his features - being that he could at least understand the hushes wisps of conversation near him.

their hosts spoke iroquois, or some dialect of it; it was hard to tell exactly what when he could hardly make sense of half the words uttered. they weren't oneidan though. he knew that much.

there was meant to be relief in an invitation to sit beside one's fire, to share in a meal, in the proverbial breaking of bread, but caleb felt no such conviction. perhaps it was a mohawk encampment they'd stumbled upon. perhaps this was to be their last meal before being killed or turned over to the redcoated bastards.

he tongued the next bite of fat to the roof of his mouth, trying to focus on the way it melted, trying to calm his nettled nerves, knowing he'd need a clear enough head if an escape was imminent. and on that day, the subject of the day was the furthest thing from his mind. days of thanks could be reserved for after this war.

Turnsgiving 2023: Day 2

Least favourite ep/season. I only watched the first 6/7 episodes. I can't focus on shit. HOWEVER so far I'd say it's the episode where the cabbage man cheats on his wife with Anna Strong (as if there's not enough men in love with her already. including me). I mean yeah whatever they were in love but aside from a mention of them being together before, there wasn't much context and it just suddenly happened and I was flabbergasted and Baker was too. Also um.Bucephallus dies and Hewlett cries.

Traditions

Happy Turnsgiving, everyone!

For today’s prompt, I’m talking about my neck of the woods- rural Pennsylvania! Of course, we all get off work and school to celebrate Thanksgiving, but a lot of folks would argue that the Monday we get off afterwards is even more important. Why? It’s the first day of rifle season!

So, every Monday after Thanksgiving, people go into the woods and State game-lands to take down deer with their rifles (and the people who don’t hunt get to sleep in and not wake up at the crack of dawn.)

Of course, I had to include a picture of Mary Woodhull learning how to shoot- and shoot well!- and some pictures of Pennsylvania riflemen, which were very important to the campaign season and were known for being great marksmen, right up there with Morgan’s rifles.

Rifle season, to me, really sparks the beginning of the holiday season and colder weather. The leaves may be dried up and the fall colors gone, but Penn’s woods are still as beautiful as ever!

Day 5 (Nov. 27th): Modern AU! What would the gang be doing in 2023? Chatting it up on Tick Tock and Disk Chord?

OMG I absolutely love this prompt! IDK why, but I feel like Anna would make such a great journalist. I think she'd kill it with investigative journalism and going under cover (like the time she dressed as one of those harlot ladies lol). Obviously, I think Ben would probably go the teacher route and be a college professor at Yale lol. Abe would be the owner of multiple large farms across the country. Caleb would end up being one of those reality stars on like Naked and Afraid or Survivor or something like that LMAO. Mary I could see becoming an influencer of some time, don't ask me why, probably because she spent so much time with the ladies of Setauket and like IDK maybe Real Housewives of Setauket 2023 LOL. OMG PEGGY SHIPPEN TOO she would be the one on TikTok doing GRWMs like GRWM to commit treason or GRWM pretend I'm crazy so I don't get thrown into jail LMAO. nahh jk but she would def be the TikToker of the group and sharing outfit links and makeup tutorials. EDIT: HOW CAN I FORGET ANDRE?! Ugh if it was modern AU Peggy and Andre would be living happily together in love *sobs*.
