Okay so heard something very interesting from a book fan. Apparently, the Evers weren't such bullies in the books. Tbh, I didn't really have a problem with them (storytelling-wise ofc. As a person I hated them) from just having watched the movie. It felt similar to Audrey from Disney Descendants in a way? I don't really like those movies, but it is clear that they used the fact a bunch of Auradon Prep students were straight up bullies and bitches and some of them were just very confused people and some of them were um at least trying their best was a way to convey that decoding for someone else what their destiny was is in short- bullshit. From what I understand, the book's reason for Good not being good enough was different than the movie, so it honestly follows that this change would be made as well. In both cases, the message is more obvious/ in your face, which is more necessary for a movie, of that makes sense. I would like to have seen more personally from these characters, but much of their attidude's origin can be inferred and attributed to the lore drop in the monologue imo. In any case, perhaps this adaptation was meant less as a literal interpretation of page to screen, and more as an accompanying route to ponder which draws the same conclusion, if through occasionally less subtle, and by extension, less effective means.

SGE MOVIE SPOILERS!!!

Getting all my thoughts out now. To be clear I did not hate the movie I actually quite enjoyed it but I was kind of disappointed in a lot of the plot points

• first off Rosie as Millicent is *chefs kiss* she’s absolutely GORGEOUS

• I can NOT BELIEVE we did not get some sort of circus of talents?!?! That was like the BEST book scene and I can’t believe it got taken out? The whole “Agatha will you be my princess for the ball?” I was WAITING for that line. Anyways.

• Tagatha…. Where do I start….. their whole storyline was so confusing like they never really hated each other and the whole thing with Tedros and Sophie felt like it never happened. The whole You’re the love of my life thing at the ball which Agatha didn’t get a date to, and should have gotten expelled as it was even said earlier in the movie, got me so confused it was so last minute in my opinion

• One of the highlights for me was the wish fish scene!! I think that that was done beautifully, the little girl UGH MY HEART I ALMOST CRIED. I didn’t like the Gregor guy at first but having Tedros kill him instead was wow. 10/10 support it.

• I can’t believe we didn’t get a Kiko/Agatha friendship. That was also such a book highlight for me and I’m so sad about that

• What the actual heck was the blood magic thing?? That made NO sense to me I didn’t think it was necessary either because it seemed like it was turning Sophie evil if you know what I mean. We all know Sophie had this anger within her she LITERALLY IS EVIL. So to have this blood magic thing was weird and honestly a bit creepy lol

• Sofia Wylie as Agatha was literally one of the best casting choices. I was a bit skeptical at first especially since I’ve only seen Sofia in HSMTMTS which has considerably worsened the past two seasons, I was completely blown away by her acting skills. However she fit in too perfectly with the Evers right at the beginning lol.

• Also why did we get no coven content??? I didn’t see like any scenes of the three of them which is definitely disappointing as they are fandom favorites! The three of them felt very much like background characters, I feel like I saw Hort more often than them 😭😭

• ALSO WHY DID WE SEE THE SCHOOL MASTER JUST LIKE HANGING AROUND LOL?!?!?! And how come Sophie and Agatha had no idea about the school for good and evil?? These little things kind of made me mad because it totally could’ve been put into the movie easily.

Anyways those are my thoughts. Again I didn’t hate the movie but as someone who had her favorite moments of the book be taken out I’m kind of sad lol. Let me know what you guys thought!

Lady Lesso sat at her desk in her classroom, grading papers and sipping on her tea. Her quill pen was dancing furiously on the paper when suddendly, a black kitten appeared out of nowhere and began to playfully bat at her pen. "Where did you come from, little one?" She smiled, reaching out to pet the small kitten. "Aren't you a cute little ball of fur?" She played with the kitten. It was a welcome distraction from the monotony of her day.

But little did she know, the kitten she was playing with were actually you, who had unknowingly transformed into your feline form.

Lady Lesso continued to play with the kitten for weeks, feeding her treats and petting her soft fur, she even named her after the darkness at twelve o'clock at night - Midight. The redhead couldn't help but feel a certain fondness for the little creature.

On a rainy and gloomy day, while Lesso was teaching Curses and Deathtraps, you transformed into a kitten by accident, the very same kitten that Lesso practically adopted. She knew you had no recollection of your feline form's memories so she was rectulant to tell you about the bond between her and your kitten-self. But she had to, just incase you get in danger as it will be hard for you to protect yourself in your other form.

After a couple of days, Lesso called you to her office and explained the whole kitten ordeal. She felt the need to apologize to you for not telling you immediately about it. She also promised to keep your secret safe and to protect you whenever you transformed into Midnight, she decided she would help you control your powers.

You were touched by your Dean's kindness and you both formed an unlikely friendship, you bonded over your shared love of cats and you finally felt like you had found someone who truly understands you. From that day on, Lesso made sure she was carrying a little extra catnip on hand, just in case you... or rather Midnight needed it.

You’ve been teaching at the school for good for what felt like forever. Dozens, even hundreds of future heroes went through your hands, some successful, some less. You taught future princesses, kings, dragon slayers. Some of whom you forgot the names already. But the day Leonora Lesso was admitted into the school for evil you’ll never forget. The moment you first saw her, young lady with her head filled with dreams and eyes full of naivety and expectation.

The times were a bit different back than of course. The world was in perfect balance, good and evil in constant stability. You didn’t know much about her, your only contact being the few times a week you met her in the dining hall. Yet you witnessed her way up, how she became more confident, strong, reputable, even a bit self-centered if you could say. She’s going to achieve great things, you thought. Maybe terrible, sure, but great.

And you weren’t exactly wrong there. Even when it wasn’t the things you always imagined. You saw her as the Evil queen, ruling over a vast kingdom. Or the step-mother who rules the whole house and gets everything she wants. You’d never think she’s gonna become the next dean of the school for evil, but here you were, promising your honesty to her in a ceremony. With her in charge, the nevers will have a great role model to look up to.

She took to her role right away. It came as a second nature to her. She was cold, strict and harsh, never having to go far for an insult. You rather didn’t want to know what torture awaited those who didn’t perform up to her expectations. Yet she seemed to have a soft spot for people who knew how to value her evilness like you. Despite all her teasing and making fun of you, you saw some good in this peculiar woman. She was still a never, relishing in pain and hurt, but she had qualities you only ever saw in evers.

You became friends about a year after she got her position. She’d stand up for you whenever the evil teachers were making too much fun of you, but only after she threw in few insults of her own. You’d spend hours in the library or gardens reading your own interesting books leaning on each other, sometimes in complete silence, sometimes you wouldn’t stop bickering about the plots of them. You observed her putting just the right amount of milk in her tea every morning. She knew what colored dress you wore when you were sad, happy or excited.

And then she kissed you. It was passionate, fast, and in your classroom right after your last class of the day. You weren’t surprised after the constant teasing, yet it still left you too stunned to speak. And she left with the stupid smirk of hers that was making your blood boil. So the next time you kissed her back, and then you couldn’t stop kissing each other, not to shut the other one up, just for the nice feeling it left behind.

Your friendly relationship turned into spending time together, spending time together turned into kissing and kissing turned into friends with benefits type of relationship. Leonora made it clear she didn’t want anything too time-consuming or exclusive, even when she could be very possessive at times. And you were fine with that, you were happy to have her in any way she’d give herself. Yet you thought one day those circumstances will change. You believed she’s gonna wake up one morning and realize she can’t live for another minute without you. You were a helpless romantic after all. Happily ever after and all that.

“Sure you don’t want to stay?” you asked her after the amazing sex you had for the third time this week.

“No.” every time you would ask and every time she would firmly decline the offer. Lesso seemed to be getting irritated with your constant questions but you couldn’t give up the hope that one day she might.

“Not even for a cuddle?” you whined, watching her getting dressed from your bed, your naked body entangled in the blanket.

“I have things to do.” she dismissed you with zero interest and left the room the moment her coat was buttoned up.

You haven’t seen her much since then. If you weren’t so busy with your own schedule, you’d even think she’s avoiding you. But Lesso could never stay away from you for too long, or maybe she just didn’t want to. And you needed her company just as much. Thinking about it now, practically every time you saw each other turned into some type of sex in the past few weeks.

“Don’t you wanna stay for coffee? We haven’t talked in ages…” you offer her after another heavy session of nakedness and moans.

“Ugh would you stop it already!? We are just. Having. Sex.” Lesso seemed quite gruff lately, you didn’t know if it was because of you or just her mood in general.

“Well yeah, I just thought…” she didn’t even let you finish the sentence.

“Then stop thinking! You’re obviously not any good at it.” okay that hurt. You didn’t need to be her favorite place to stay the night, but now she didn’t even want to talk to you? Where did the friendly dean go?

Seeing she got you unable to speak, she left you with a roll of eyes angrily mumbling under her breath. If it seemed like she was avoiding you before, she definitely was now. You didn’t want to aggravate her resentment towards you, but after few days her ignoring was starting to get unbearable. You felt like suffocating under the heavy cloud of misery her absence created over your head. So you went for a low blow and cornered her in the corridor once she was coming back from her office late at night. Were you waiting for hours for her to get finished with her work? Yes, but to you it was worth it.

“What’s your problem?” you didn’t let her recover from the shock of being ambushed, wanting to finally get your answers out of her.

“I don’t have a problem. You’re the one mugging people late at night in the dark hallways…” unconcerned she watched you with a raised brow.

“Why don’t you talk to me anymore? I thought we were friends…” you were unable to mask the hurt in your voice completely.

“I don’t have any desire to talk about anything with you, nor is it my obligation.” she obviously didn’t care about your state.

“Oh so that’s how it is now? I’m only good for sex, hm?” you mocked her a little, not expecting her to agree.

“Don’t flatter yourself too much. You’re mediocre at best.” was her sharp answer.

“But… you chose me..?” you stepped back in shock and hurt, your undecided emotions clear on your face as your anger fought with your rationality.

“Please, I can just as easily go and fuck Sader tomorrow.” she stated unphased.

“Then maybe you should.” You exclaimed angrily, wanting to show her that if you aren’t important to her, she isn’t needed in your life either.

“Maybe I will!” Lesso opposed as you finally got her irritated and got back to walking to her room and away from you.

You couldn’t believe it was actually happening, why would she suddenly be so distant from you? “Wait… come back…” you pleaded into the dark corridor but the dean of evil was long gone.

You knew she’s not coming back. Leonora Lesso was able to stay mad at you for as long as she lives. It’s not like she loved you or anything. You were barely a friend.

School of Good and Evil (movie) spoilers ahead :)

Okay so I just watched The School for Good and Evil and I actually liked it more than I thought I would. I didn't rly like the main couple together but skateboard they're better in the books? Tetris seems like he'd be a cool teammate and a cool character but I don't really like him being in a relationship tbh. I thought the two main girls were both really awesome characters, and the story impressed me/ exceeded my admittedly low expectations for on the nose good/evil and on screen adaptations. I really enjoyed the movie and thought the lessons and all was really cool and the stakes were higher than I expected as well.

What I really liked was that even though the most literal interpretation was that love=The Good Emotion, but that the story doesn't necessarily place love as more morally pure or correct than any other emotion. The personified chaos has love for personified evil- but that didn't make her any less of a victim or make the evil guy any less of an objectively terrible person. In other words, love can cause pain just as any emotion can, similar to what we see with Tetris's supposedly good and pure intentions of slaying Greg the corpse bird.

However I want really a fan of evil having a physical manifestation in the form of "ugly" traits for hopefully obvious reasons. Not to mention many of the actions by the more "beautiful" group could also be classified as evil, Evil Guy said so himself, so why wouldn't they change as well? Am I missing something? Was it meant to show that both groups were equally good and evil the whole time and that placing the more conventionally attractive people on a pedestal was a type of double meaning or something? That does seem to be part of the lesson, according to one of my favorite lines "I don't believe anyone is good or evil, because people are complicated" holy shit that is just the best line ever ajajxbbchfhe

I'd like to read the book as well, and I'm hoping for some dual pov and Agatha angst. Shit like "as Tetris evaporated, Agatha stood there, feeling like a true witch" holy shit I WOULD DIE I loved pretty much all of the characters <22
