So I finished The Auction today after reading both TRTTD and ATWT and honestly this series should not be called "Rights and Wrongs" it should be called "Hermione Granger and the undying task of trying to figure out the Malfoys" cause honestly the amount of quotes I saved of Hermione just being Confused™ at ones of the Malfoys is hilarious. They have honestly made me fall in love with Narcissa and Lucius in a way which I didn't think was possible.

Also I just barley started reading Dramione fanfiction (and I've started with the biggest ones ofc) but after reading all three of this series, I now expect any fanfic that features Krum to just have increasingly worse ways of him mispronouncing Hermione...

In case anyone wants to know I have read (in order) Manacled, DMATMOOBIL, TRTTD, ATWT and The Auction. My plan is to now start Remain Nameless since I have been told is a bit healing. But I welcome new rec of big Dramione fics, but more specifically in what order to read them so I don't develop debilitating depression.

Manacled by senlinyu - This one is... a lot. It's an emotional roller coaster. If you read this one, heed the trigger warnings ofc and stick with it until the flashbacks!

The Right Thing to Do / All the Wrong Things by Lovesbitca8 - These two might be my favorites... the first fic is Hermione POV and the second is Draco's! It's pretty wholesome, Lucius and Narcissa are comparatively chill, and there's some office romance. Blaise plays a prominent role and he’s pretty funny!

The Auction by Lovesbitca8 - This is a darker Voldemort wins AU of TRTTD. It's very suspenseful, which I like!

Wait and Hope / Beginning and End by Mightbewriting - THESE TWO really pulled at my heartstrings. Beginning and End is a prequel to Wait and Hope!

Love and Other Historical Accidents by pacific-rimbaud - This fic is VERY funny. Historical AU where Draco and Hermione go back in time by mistake and pretend to be siblings as they try to get back to the present.

Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love by isthisselfcare - (this one might ruin you for other fanfic if you start here, it is THAT good).

Now this is when I call upon my beautiful moot @kateduchessofdolittle because she's the one who really got me into dramione and recommended all of these to me after I finished manacled. She has a very big brain and might have another fic to recommend to you that I haven't listed here.

bookbinding question: how did you format the pages so that they read in the correct order when stacked and folded into signatures?

Hi! I use Word to create my signatures and typeset them to read like a book. I followed amazing tutorials from Hana Bobb on TikTok - I'd really recommend looking at her content but here's the bare bones! (If you use other applications this probably won't be as helpful for you, I'm sorry!)

First things first, you need to get your word document set up. From the top ribbon, go to Layout, then select Margins > Custom Margins which will open a page setup popup window. Here are the page size, margins, and layout settings I use:

My margins are set based on US Letter sized paper. I find that they're not too big but allowed me to trim the foredges and don't eat up the text in the spine.

HOWEVER, if you're typesetting a really large fic, you're going to want to increase your side margins! For example, I am typesetting a tandem read of TRTTD/ATWT that is 900+ pages and my side margins are .65" to compensate for the deeper, rounded spine and the amount I'll have to trim off the foredge.

If you're uncertain if you like your margins, you can do test prints of the first signature to see how your margins end up looking.

Our page orientation is landscape because, although we want our individual pages to be portrait, each landscape page will have two portrait pages.

By setting the "multiple pages" setting to book fold, you will automatically print into signatures that you can then sew and glue into a book.

Sheets per booklet is really personal preference, just in mind that one sheet of paper is equal to FOUR book pages (two front and two back). So my 32 page booklets take 8 sheets of paper. Some people do 7, others do up to 10! It's harder to punch holes in 8+ pages of signatures, but easier to sew in my opinion.

From here, you can input your text! You can post the raw html from AO3 into the document which which bring over the text and general formatting, and you can format chapters, headings, title pages, etc. from there. This is a time consuming process but is really helpful when familiarizing yourself with how typesetting works. If you do go with this option, I'd again recommend Hana Bobb's detailed tutorials - she goes over incredible info for newbies and I wouldn't be half as good as I am without her guidance.

If you're not interested in deep diving on typesetting, you can do what I do now which is use a Word macro from the macro mommy herself - Blak Books Bindery.

She has some incredible macros which allow you to quickly and easily add text dividers, drop caps, and so much more to your typesets! The one I use the most is her "Raw-Text Formatting" macro which allows you to copy raw text directly from AO3 into the word document and turn it into a formatted typeset through computer magic. I usually just use this as a starting point and heavily adjust the aesthetics from there, but it saves so much time moving author notes, formatting chapters into sections, adding title and publishing pages, etc.

After your typeset is formatted how you want it, you can print it! I typically go into File > Print and select "Print to PDF."

This allows you to save the document as a PDF. You can print directly from Word but I haven't tried it since people say it really messes up the formatting.

Your finished typeset file should look something like this:

Just print this double sided with "flip on the short edge" selected, and start folding! Even if you're super confident about your typeset, I would highly recommend test printing your first signature on paper you don't care about. I've caught misaligned page numbers, margin issues, and other problems this way and saved myself the headache and reams of paper.

That's it! I hope this answered your question, I went probably went overboard but I'm not sure what knowledge you're working with so I wanted to be thorough. If you or anyone else has any other questions, feel free to reach out through asks or DMs!

Hi! Was wondering if you had any long fics in the pipeline? (>150k words or so). Don’t get me wrong, I love EVERYTHING y’all put out and I know your work is very time consuming! I don’t mean to come across as ungrateful or anything. I find that long fics are such a tough commitment to read, especially with work/children/chores in the way. I loved listening to TRTTD, the Auction, and LIATOTZA throughout the day, in the car, whenever! It helped with time management so much.

The short fics are great and your fans will be happy with anything you put out! They’re less time-consuming to read on my own though, so the long ones are a preference of mine :)

(I’m just a single voice/opinion though so don’t mind me haha)

Ah we know people want the long stuff, but it is HORRIFICALLY time consuming (and emotionally taxing), lol.

@beatific-triciabean will have been recording Disappearances for A YEAR, if she doesn't wrap things before September 26th. Time flies.

1k takes 10 minutes to record on average across the team of Readers we have, and 15-20 minutes for our Editors, and then the edited product is listened to by our Quality Control folks to catch anything that may have been missed. If they catch something, Editors go through again, and sometimes there's a re-record

This issue with long stories is completing the recording before they are released. We don't want to do WIPS (ours or authors) because life happens and we never want to leave a story unfinished.

Beyond Disappearances, there are 5 works over 70k (most over 100k, two over 150k) that are in process. We also have one-shots queued for release on the weekends through to 2023.

As the summer is ending, and some of our team are going back to work (full-time, or for the first time since 2020), there are anticipated lulls in content release. We are taking a month off from Multichap releases when Apple Pies and Other Amends is finished this week. We're here to stay, always growing (always looking for new people to join the team) but we'd also encourage (and guide) anyone looking into going into podficcing themselves! The more content that is made more readily accessible to the fandom, the better!

The Right Thing to Do “live commentary” - Part I of the “Rights and Wrongs” series, by LovesBitca8

Here we go again! I have decided to go for this series next. I originally was going to go ahead and read The Auction (ovaries still growing to required size to read Manacled) but i found out that it’s part three of a series??? I’m not sure if it’s 100% necessary to read the two before? (TRTTD and ATWT) so if anyone would be so kind to clarify, thanks in advance!

Anyways, as it says The Auction is part three, my brain can no longer go ahead and just read it- i have to go in order now 😤. So yeah! Let’s crack on, shall we? I have already done a “live commentary” about The Fallout and DMATMOOBIL, i didn’t do one on Isolation but i wish i did, it was perfection, btw. Anyways this is not a “proper” review or critique, just my thoughts while reading, and i don’t even know why i’m writing like i have an audience waiting for me to do this again lol the delusion ~ i will pin this to the top of my profile and update by editing the same post, so yeah! And now without ACTUAL further adue…

Day one: i’m really enjoying this fic so far! I’m on chapter 9, and it feels really “fresh” and “young”, probably bc it’s only a year and a half after the war and the characters are just becoming young adults. It’s always funny to read how they go straight into working for the Ministry and don’t really take a few years to “go to college” lol. It’s nice and a bit more fast-paced, shorter chapters and relatively open descriptions of places and people, which i too appreciate, so my mind can kind of “create” and work around it to imagine the world and ppl around the story. It’s a very nice change of style, and i have just read the reference for The Auction! So clever, i wonder if the author was already thinking about / writing that fic by this time? Anyways, less than a week til i go back to school and won’t have much time to read :( so i will happily destroy whats left of my eyesight to finish this fic before sunday hehe… been thinking about getting a Kindle! I found out you can read fics on there too! (I’m so NOT knowledgeable on this front lol) any suggestions about it?

Day three: chapter 25! We are making good progress! I’m liking how things are going, pretty interesting twist of events! I’m finding it a teenzy bit hard to get ober Lucius Malfoy being “civil” towards hermione, and sometimes Draco’s behavior is a bit too “casual” with other people and colleagues for my brain to comprehend, i guess I’m used to him still a bit cold towards the general public, just because he is more reserved and weary in general. The rest is fitting just fine! I like the bit of banter between ginny, hermione and harry! I’ve never really been a *huge* fan of Ron, be it on the books or the movies, i just think our girl could do SO much better than ending up with him… she pretty muchwas his mom throughout their entire relationship (ok, enough ranting, that’s a topic for another time, sorry to all the romione fandom). Anyways, what i wanted to get to with that last idea, was that i rrally like the trio with Ginny instead of Ronald lol sorry Ron!

I just reached the a/n where the author says there’s alteady three chapters drafted for The Auction! Exciting! We’ll update soon!

Day four: ok, i’m getting a bit annoyed with Hermione’s attitude at work. Like, why would you talk back at your BOSS like that? Doesn’t matter what’s happening between them, you don’t disrespect the person who gave you the chance to do something of your career. I get it, he “used her name” or whatever (it doesn’t even mean anything, if she didn’t bite the bait, he would be left embarassed in front of people like Walter), but dude: the man’s your boss! Why does she act like she’s making him a favor? You want out of you thing with Lucius? TELL DRACO! Is not your responsibility to keep the company afloat, is your damn savior complex, draco is right. Lol i’m getting all worked up here, because this plot is slowly but surely annoying me a little bit. It’s not that hard to work things out, there’s no “real threat” for them and the “right thing to do” isn’t really a huge thing. Am i getting this wrong? I’m very practical and this arrengement of sorts is just too much trouble when things could be very easy!!?????? And seriously, Draco could just freaking tell her to stop being unprofessional and rude in front of others, because she’s!! And he needs to just be the boss…

Well, that’s all for this update!

Day five: I’ve finished! 36 chapters later, the first part of the series is finished. I feel like it was a pretty good, quick read! Pretty entertaining, it made me laugh quite a few times, and was an overall nice story. I feel there were a few plotholes that i would’ve liked to see resolved: like the actual classes being of more critical use or having more of a significance throughout the story, and to go deeper into Lucius plan, maybe? The repercutions of his stabbing plan, maybe a bit more of how H’s career moved forward, ginny and harry’s wedding, ron pretty much disappeared from the story and i thought he would have made a good conflict point. I would have loved a more high-stakes conflict between d and h and their relationship, though. I do feel the ending was a bit rushed, or maybe i’m getting used to the SLOW burn dhrs hehe, but yeah, an overall fun, quick, romantic story! Would recommend this to any first-time dramione reader. I would personally give it a 3 out of 5 stars. Now we move onto the next! I don’t know if i’ll be commenting on Dracos POV. If something gets my attention, i guess i will, but i’m so excited to get to The Auction! Moving on!

The Auction(6.5/10) is quite disappointing:( though I saw many reviews about it is quite plain compared to Manacled before read it. It’s just not dark and angsty enough for an excellent angst(eg. Manacled, LIATOTZA, From Wiltshire With Love), yet not sweet enough to be a fluff(and not humorous at all either)😣and the plot is just not exciting enough for such a long story, I got sleepy when I was reading chapter 30 or 31, maybe I should just skip to the ending

TRTTD combines ATWT can be seen as a whole wonderful story though(I can score more like 7.5/10?). Like ATWT more(Draco suffering in love is too cute for his own good lol). As for TRTTD, I just found the idea that Hermione had a longtime crush/unrequited love for Draco during Hogwarts days so strange🤔
