James Somerton is a misogynist piece of shit, but the way he speaks about lesbians is an infuriating betrayal of the queer community.
Legally, lesbians were and are treated on the same level of bad as gay men. Gay panic doesn't and has never excluded them, same as convertion therapy, same as anti-sodomy laws, same as police brutality, and many more I could mention.
And socially? Women as a whole are already persecuted, so add homophobia to the mix, and I doubt that'd lead to less discrimination than what gay men suffer from. And that's not even getting into how shittily trans lesbians are treated
But frankly, we all know why he said that. The section where he misgenders Nate Stevenson and Rebecca Sugar and throws them under the bus really says it all: it's because, in his fucked up mind twisted by misogyny, there was more "lesbian representation" in media.
The kind of representation where they're demonized, dehumanized, and erased, where their deaths and hardships are treated shallowly and without a hundredth of the compassion spared for their straight leads, where they're fetishized and objectified for the sole eyes of straight men, sometimes all of the above at the same time.
Fuck this guy.

Not even "Whipping Girl: A Transsexual Woman on Sexism and the Scapegoating of Femininity" by Julia Serano
A major book for western TransFeminism theory,
gets pushed even *half* as much as the semi-autobiographical novel "Stone Butch Blues" by Leslie FeinBerg,
on posts about transmisogynistic scapegoating.
Not that replacing the same 1 TME's book with just 1 book of 1 trans woman's as a flex would solve the issue of flattening experiences into universality and shutting other transfems up either, but damn.
The sunlight is making us irritable and feels like am gonna get a heart attack - so am losing it even more than usual.

I feel like theres this inherent disgust people feel towards "male" bodies and "male" sexuality that permeates through so much of online lgbt communities its crazy. Especially when that sexuality or bodily expression is aimed towards women whether to transition to womanhood or to desire women in a sexual way its always labelled as predatory and perverted and evil.
U see it so often when people are uncomfortable with aro men who arent asexual and speak down on them like they seek to abuse or hurt people by using them sexually with no emotion involved, as if sexual relationships aren't a thing that exist and are respected but suddenly they're evil if one of the parties is aromantic and a man. Not to mention the disregard people feel towards ace men who may not want to participate in anything sexual but are forgotten or spoken ill of. Or the way terfs label anyone amab as predatory, seeking to emulate women in order to invade their spaces and take away their resources, to get closer to women because fundamentally, it always links back to them wanting to sexually use and manipulate things into their favor. Its fucking anger inducing.
I haven't posted my art in a while but I love drawing nudity and vulnerability, esp with my amab characters, so often nudity and sexuality and all this is warped and seen as disgusting and perverted and evil when the human body is a neutrally existing thing, not even a sexual thing, yet it's so stigmatized. Its so anger inducing to me i dont even know what to say about it it's just so fucking evil. (Not to mention the intertwinings with both of those examples of how arophobia and transmisogyny interact w those and exemplify the issue).

what's the trans twitter discourse?
some trans lady tweeted "trans men are the men of trans people" and her mentions immediately turned into a transmisogynist dogpile of dudes crytyping while being like "this is the same as if I called YOU a man" which is like. Blatantly not true

Reason 123456789 why transphobia hurts black people: a transphobe posted a photo of Michelle and Barack Obama sitting in a kayak with her on front and other transphobic goons now misgender her (they’re calling her Michael), believe she’s a trans woman and are extremely racist and misogynistic towards her.
Black women are unfortunately not seen as “real” women to these imbeciles because being black = masculine
I hate this
yeah that’s really shitty

I hope that my previous posts have made my stance on some of Serano's ideas clear (generally, any of her analysis about non trans women is just wrong and inaccurate). I am not a fan of her analysis of of trans men's and nonbinary people's experiences- since Serano is neither a trans man nor nonbinary person, she does not get to speak for or over these groups.
Now- lately, there have been opponents of transunity who cite Serano in order to 'prove wrong' the descriptions of transmisogyny on this blog. These citations were that transunity uses a different definition to transmisogyny to Serano and that Serano doesn't think transmisogyny is partially based in a hatred of 'men'.
As I have written about before, people pedestalise Serano and her work as some kind of ultimate arbiter. This is a dangerous approach as no one person is infallible. But even so- while I disagree with Serano on many things, she does in fact agree that transmisogyny is based partially in a hatred of men.
See: Chapter 8 of Whipping Girl (below)
Tumblr media
And also Chapter 12 of Whipping Girl (below)
Tumblr media
I cannot stress enough how much I normally disagree with Serano's analysis. But it is patently clear that people opposed to transunity have not read Serano and instead only bring her up to pedestalise her (something many trans women have complained about, especially trans women of colour, who resent being pedestalised and being used as a baton to beat other trans people with).
In short, Serano's own definition of transmisogyny includes (but is not exclusive to) hatred of 'men'.

Hoping someone can help me find something like this but are there any discord servers for queer people that are actually very chill and accepting of intersex transpeople? Specifically things like afab transfems and amab transmascs as well as multigender intersex people.
I got hit with a bunch of misogyny online today and a lot of shit for my identity because I'm not a perisex transfem or a perisex transmasc and I'm an AFAB (but never allowed to be a woman really) intersex nonbinary boygirl. People discredit my experiences with transmisogyny and people also misgender me and treat me like shit for being transmasc as well. (I'm transfemmasc). I just want to be accepted for me... nothing else :(

i think most ppl are aware of the glorified idea of children versus how actual youth are treated, through which conservatives can paint their enemies as groomers or corrupters of innocence; they can call themselves "pro-life" for opposing abortion but not do anything to better the lives of children who have already been born, they can argue that trans people are confusing children but then say theyd rather have a dead child than a trans one. the fear of harm to kids is something they bring up when teachers have sex ed, not when schools are shot up
something i dont see brought up as often is the way that this phenomenon isnt isolated to boomers or conservatives. younger, more "progressive" people will still promote authoritarian parenting under the guise of "child safety;" and to them "minor" is a label of innocence and potential victimhood that you lose once you cross the bare minimum threshold of making them uncomfortable. thats how you get adults who harass the teens they deem "dangerous to children" over stupid internet discourse. thats how you get adults who talk about how traumatizing their childhood was before turning around and talking about how much they hate "snotnosed walking sperm" or whatever other insults they have for small kids. thats how you get discussions about no one being truly able to consent until their brain is fully developed at the fresh age of 25
and while the conservative stance is more blatantly obvious and damaging right now, i think it's important to be aware of how these ideas bleed into each other. look at how trans women are treated as a threat to innocence by both people on fox news and people on this site. ultimately you cannot fucking trust anyone who brings up "child safety" or "innocence" or even the word "grooming" at face value, you have to closely watch anything they say at this point. it is almost always an emotional tactic to cause a frenzy.

Didn't Chris chan admit to it
Not that i know of but any focus on what she did should be outweighed by focusing on the sort of culture (i.e. kiwifarms) that was created by the people who got sick pleasure out of harassing her.
Additionally, investigators decided to drop charges in a southern state that is not exactly friendly to people like her (trans, neurodivergent, etc.) so it's pretty safe to say she didn't do it, even if she did "admit" to it.
