this whole lando and donald trump shit is gonna blow over so quickly btw it always does bcos people in the f1 fandom could literally not give less of a fuck about minority/vulnerable groups. nothing happened when carlos sainz made racist comments about chinese people eating dogs in 2020. nothing happened when sainz sr took photos of his dinner the leader of the alt right party in spain. nothing happened when max verstappen used the r slur and m slur towards lance on team radio and nothing happened even after mongolia made a complaint to the UN about his conduct and red bull joked about it the next week in one of their pr videos. nothing happened when nelson piquet and his family got outed as close friends and supporters of jair bolsonaro. nothing happened when zak brown bitched about politics in f1 and then filmed a video with a tory minister. nothing happened when a 20 year old ayrton senna dated a fucking 15 yr old girl! nothing!
you cannot convince this fandom to not bat for these white men, no matter what they say or do. they will die on that hill and they will look like some godforsaken amalgamation of a teenaged kpop stan sending death threats and a disney/marvel adult twisting progressive language in defense of blind media consumption.
ultimately and above all, their comfort and attraction will overwhelm anything else. praxis to them is looking at these coddled fucking manbabies and saying "oh he's so gay" "omg trans ally" "feminist king" when he blinks.
there is a massive conversation we could have about the intrinsic classism, racism and fascism that you cannot remove from f1 (and the whole of motorsport!) without crumbling its core foundations. about how every driver on the grid is complicit in these systems and how they overwhelmingly use their wealth to ensure it's existence. it will not happen here because interaction in that fan space has degraded to sending death threats because you have decided to criticize their specific special human incarnation of oatmeal slop

in honor of international women’s day, could you review some royal neopets (since all women are queens?)
(Royal has a lot going on with it, as there's not only the usual customized vs UC designs, but also the royal boy vs royal girl designs on top of that. For purposes of this review I picked out royals where both genders look great, but let me know if you guys would be interested in seeing a royal girl/royal boy-specific review.)
Tumblr media
Royal is one of the more complicated Neopets colours, having special art and poses pre-customization and having a gender split on top of that. Normally I'm not big on gender splits as a whole for being overly cis, but I'll forgive it in this case because it is actually possible to get a female royal boy pet and vice versa through lab ray shenanigans. Customization also allows for clothes to be swapped around at will.
One thing that I always found strange about royal as a colour is that it oftentimes doesn't really match up with anything lore-wise. For example, Blumaroos come from Roo Island, and their leader, King Roo, is vaguely dressed like a jester because Roo Island is the happy-go-lucky fun land. Makes sense! But then the royal Blumaroo colour is... space themed, for some reason?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's not that the colour literally needs to match up with actual Neopian leaders all the time, of course; it's just that sometimes the choices made feel random and ill-fitting for the species.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another instance of this is in the royal pets that are based off a specific country/region. I do like the diversity in not having all pets share that Meridell-esq European look, but sometimes it does make me raise my eyebrow. Like, where in Neopia is "Mongolia", exactly?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And in terms of customization, royal pets generally got hit pretty hard. Previously, royal pets were bipedal, and many of them had subtle anatomically changes to give that them royal look. It's not even that royal pets just got converted in general, but many of the conversions seem very poorly done—such as the poor Aisha above, which inexplicably lost an entire set of ears. Like I said, I like the ability to trans our Neopets easier, but that's about the only benefit.
Favorite Species:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Skeith: One common problem with royal pets tends to be that the royal girl and royal boy look completely different, with one of them (usually the male) looking significantly better. Thankfully, the royal Skeith do not have this problem, with both male and female sharing a white base with a subtle accent color and similar-but-distinct sets of clothing. The Alice in Wonderland inspiration is also very fun, and feels supper fitting for the species. Great stuff.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kyrii: I already went over these designs in my Kyrii review so I'll keep this short, but the UC/styled royal Kyrii are just fantastic designs all around. The squarer head shapes than normal give them a very elegant look, and the designs make full use of the Kyrii's distinctive long manes (not to mention the old BD poses, which were just delightful). The only drawback is that the converted versions are particularly bad, to the point where I'm not even bothering to show them here to save space.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Peophin: Something about underwater royals just tend to hit, and the Peophin is no exception. The species already has their distinct head ornamentation, but the royals take it a step further by adding extra jewels and extending it over the ears and head fins, then accenting it with even more additional jewelry. I also really like the robes, which feel surprisingly natural for their body shape. Beautiful all around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BONUS: Remember how I was saying that a lot of royal designs feel random and ill-fitting for their species? The royal Koi avoids this completely by basing the royal boy design off of King Kelpbeard, the ruler of Maraqua. Once again, both designs here are well balanced and go well with each other, and I like the degree of underwater elements—coral crowns, seaweed accents, and pearl necklaces.
(Side note: a very honorable shoutout goes to the royal Mynci and Flotsam, which didn't quite make the cut but are still excellent designs.)
Least Favorite Species:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Moehog: Most royal pets are at least interesting, but I can't say that about the poor royal Moehog, which is mostly forgettable; just the standard clothing that you'd expect from royals. The royal boy is slightly better, at least sporting a nice dark blue base, but the royal girl has a very "cheap" design, like it's wearing a Halloween costume instead of actual royalty. The royal Moehog never got a UC option, but they did have pre-customization designs that were slightly better–but only slightly.

An Orchestra of Traditional Music in Vietnam
Vietnamese Culture Demystified!
Exploring the local culture and customs is a part and parcel of every holiday, particularly if your destination is Vietnam. As the cultural delta of Southeast Asia, it's necessary to immerse oneself in the grand culture Vietnam has amassed, truly enriching your travel experience and take back much more than just travelgram pictures. More importantly, it shows that you're more than just a tourist, making you a traveller who is sensitive to local beliefs.
Here's everything about Vietnamese culture to get you started on your South Asian extravaganza:
Performing Arts:
Music in Vietnamese Culture
The Vietnamese have always held music close to their hearts. It is highly diverse and heavily influenced by China, and to a lesser extent South Korea, Mongolia, Japan and the former Indochina Kingdom of Champa. There are close to 50 national music instruments in the country, with percussion instruments being the most popular, followed by wind instruments and string intruments. Traditional music in Vietnam can be divided into two genres: Imperial Court Music and Folk Music.
Imperial Court Music, as the name suggests, was performed in the palaces of Tran and Nguyen dynasties. The songs were mainly about wishing the king and his kingdom longevity and prosperity. There were also songs composed in honour of gods and scholars such as Confucius, that were sung in temples and sometimes the King's chambers. These have been divided into three categories:  Nhã Nhac ("elegant music", ritual and ceremonial music), Dai Nhac ("great music"), and Tieu Nhac ("small music")
Tumblr media
Folk music has a richer history and is woven into the everyday lives of the Vietnamese. Some of the more popular forms are the Chèo, Quan Ho, Hát Chau Van, Ca Trù, Hò, and Hát Xam. Quan Ho and Ho are courtship songs sung acapella in northern and southern provinces of Vietnam respectively. Hat Xam was performed by blind artists who travelled from place to place singing, somewhat like the bards of the west. This form of music has diminished and is rarely heard nowadays. The more popular traditions of folk music are Hat Chau Van and Ca Tru, both of which have emerged from under the repression of the colonial government. The former is sung to invoke spirits during religious ceremonies and is trance-oriented, while conversely, the latter is sung by women for the powerful and elite men, a geisha-style of entertainment in a way.
Tumblr media
A Ca Trù Performance in Vietnam
Nhac dân toc cai biên is a relatively recent addition to the music scene, and has garnered mass appeal in Vietnam. It incorporates western elements such as harmony to traditional music, a fusion of the east and the west.

lilith mangrove (it/he) character & art by @oddb4llz
Tumblr media
its fat. its transgender. it has burn scars and chronic pain because of it. its tormented by the horrors. its seen gods at least 4 times now. its patron is the god of misery and death and the moon and the sea. it has no heart (physically) and its in a pocketwatch now. it has killed 14 people and is guilty all the time because of it. feels unlovable bc of that as well. he really needs a break and has not had one since the day he was born and all he wants to do is take a nice nap in a bed for like 5 hours. tries his best to be nice to people though despite being so terribly awkward in every situation ever and has the most crooked smile ever but it's honestly kind of endearing. he also loves nature and people (it feels weirdly new to him) but hasnt had the chance to experience those things and happy in a while. he is my son and i love him and my dm keeps putting him through situations

danny ganbaatar (he, pokemon) character by @gupdoo3, art by @imnotsetsuna
Tumblr media
Danny Ganbaatar is a second-generation Mongolian and Korean living in SoCal. He's a cinnamon roll nerd who's cheerful and friendly, but is not very outgoing and worries that people won't like him because he's "weird" (read as: autistic, fat, Asian, trans), so he struggles to make friends. He's a big Pokémon fan: his favorite type is Steel and his favorite Pokémon are Magnemite and Jirachi. For nearly a decade, Danny's been an enthusiastic supporter of a fan region based on Mongolia. When a Legends Arceus-style fan game is released showing the region's past, he instantly becomes enamored with not just the game but with one of the NPCs, a Pokémon research assistant named Altan. But as the game mysteriously grows past its programming and the characters develop minds of their own, Danny struggles to navigate his new relationship with Altan as Alta comes to terms with the nature of her existence and just who Danny is.

Ken Hermann is a Danish photographer, who has been exploring the balance between people and their environment.
"Since my early backpackers days 15 years ago, I was dreaming about taking the Trans-Siberian Railway but never made it... "
He finally made his dream come true in the summer 2016 when he shot the series Bökh shown below.
“When a boy is born in Inner Mongolia, his family pray for him to become a wrestler. This ancient tradition is the cornerstone of Mongolian culture dating back centuries to Genghis Khan’s reign when he used it to keep his soldiers battle-ready.”

Pomerantsev K. I. "Mongolia" 1931.
Oil on canvas
Konstantin Innokentyevich Pomerantsev (March 13 [30], 1884, Krasnoyarsk - May 21, 1945, Kursk) - Russian and Soviet painter, sculptor, architect. Pomerantsev came from an official's family. In 1893-1897 he studied at the Krasnoyarsk Men's Gymnasium. In 1900, the Pomerantsev family moved to the Verkholensky district of the Irkutsk province, but after the death of his father in 1906, the whole large family moved to Irkutsk, where Pomerantsev, starting in 1902, studied at the Irkutsk Mining School, from which he graduated in 1907. In 1906-1907 he studied in the classes of drawing and painting A. F. Lytnev, and in 1908-1910 Pomerantsev studied painting in Moscow at the art school F. I. Rerberg and at the same time he took sculpture lessons from A. S. Golubkina. In 1910, Pomerantsev returned to Irkutsk and joined the Control of the Trans-Baikal Railway as an assistant controller, where he remained until 1920. Pomerantsev became the founder (in 1910) and head of the Irkutsk Society of Artists, which he headed until 1923 (when the society was reorganized). In 1920-1925 he worked first as the 2nd, then the 1st curator of the artistic and historical department (picture gallery) of the regional museum. He taught in the art studio at the Political Department of the 5th Army (1920-1922). In 1920-1923 he headed the Irkutsk Society of Artists, until in 1923 it was liquidated as a result of the reorganization of creative associations into a single union. In January 1920, after the victory over the White Army, Pomerantsev led a team of artists to decorate the city for the solemn meeting of units of the 5th Army, which took place on March 10, 1920. In 1926, Pomerantsev was invited by the Mongolian government to Ulaanbaatar to decorate the Mongolian capital, in particular to create a monument to Sukhe-Bator, which was installed on the central square of Ulaanbaatar in 1930, as well as to create a museum of the Mongolian Revolution. In total, Pomerantsev lived in Mongolia for 13 years. More than 350 paintings, sketches, drawings, sketches of Pomerantsev are stored in the Mongolian Theater Museum (in the city of Ulaanbaatar).

RTD says fans who don’t like watching him take a piss over Doctor Trans are “crybabies”
I mean, he’s got a point. The British people have absolutely no choice about paying him to shit all over their country. If you don’t pay RTD, men with guns will come, kill your dogs, and drag you away. Then you will cry - as he laughs.
Unless you find a way to avoid the license, of course. Here’s advice from 2019 - perhaps it is out of date?
How can I legally avoid paying a TV licence fee?
Steve doesn’t watch TV and wants to stop paying the UK licence fee, but now it applies to smartphones, consoles and the BBC iPlayer app on a
the Guardian
“ You still have to buy a licence if you only watch live streams from Mongolia’s Eagle TV channel. “
It’s important to remember the government is largely unelected. It consists of soulless bureaucrats sitting in windowless office, year after year, until they eventually die and are replaced, and the only joy they find in their lives is when they make someone else more miserable.
The license was sold to the British public on the grounds that they would only have to pay it because they were watching the BBC. It was always a little bit of a lie, but year after year has made it bigger and bigger, and now it is crowding Jupiter out of the skies.
Who watches the BBC now? Voluntarily, I mean.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Just remember - if you don't pay the BBC, Russell T Davies can't piss in your mouth. Think of his kidneys, you bigots! ______________ Tumblr kept rejecting the post when i tried to publish - but accepted it as a draft. So presumably it didn't have a technical problem but was triggering some list of banned words. I rephrased some things, and it let me publish. Very interesting. Is RTD protected, or is it more a matter of Disney being a sponsor for Tumblr? Disney owns Doctor Who now - which is weird and disturbing, because it kinda defeats the entire purpose of the BBC's existence.
