Zak Brown once again saying the FIA should do something about VCarb. Why is it an issue now all of a sudden? They’ve owned this team for how many years? Now that they’re finally using all the parts they’re allowed to legally he has an issue? No other team principal has had anything to say about it.
He should really focus on his own team and his own car. I know it’s probably got nothing to do with Daniel but it feels like it’s about him. Where’s the same energy for Haas and Ferrari? Or Merc and all their customer teams?
I need Daniel to get another win in the VCarb before either of his twinks ever get one win just to shove it in his stupid face that it was never a Daniel issue it was ALWAYS a MCL issue.
Okay rant over.

Ricciardo didn’t wake up one morning and forget his techniques. His intensive programme to get to grips with the Mclaren involved them consciously making him unlearn his natural braking technique over a long period of time.
It is nice to see other people finally validating what us dirlies have been saying for the past three!!! years!!! But also seeing this reading this just makes me feel even more anger towards the orange clown team, and I do truly hope for their current and future drivers' sake that they have learnt from this and won't almost destroy another driver's career.

Disputing the Daniel Ricciardo “no technical F1 knowledge” narrative
I got so utterly sick of reading comment after comment of people parroting the “Ricciardo sucks at the technical aspect of F1/ doesn’t understand how to set up a car/ drives off other driver’s setups” etc narratives, which mostly seem to be based off one Renault mechanic/engineer’s comments about DR. This narrative, however, happily ignores the various other comments made by people in every team DR has driven for that directly contradict this.
Luca Furbatto, an engineer who worked closely with Ricciardo at Toro Rosso: "I was struck by the feedback he was able to give to the team. It was incredible how he recalled the behaviour of the machine even hours later. At 300kph he had the time and the intellect to think about the management of the car, which is typical of great quality. The other driver (Jean-Eric Vergne) was very limited in his feedback, so Daniel was always the point of reference. But I have seen before that drivers able to give so much information were not always the fastest. But my doubts soon disappeared -- qualifying in Bahrain in 2012 left everyone speechless."
Newey said that Max and Daniel were similar in their ability to give feedback on the car: "Verstappen's feedback is good, he knows very well what the tires do and how to handle them. I think his reputation for being wild is unjustified. He's very easy to work with, he's very open. If you ask him to do something, he will always try. According to Newey, Ricciardo had a similar way of giving feedback. They are good because they focus on the things you need to know. If you have questions, they're happy to sit down with you and explain. They're very easy to work with."
Cyril Abiteboul specifically credited Daniel with the huge improvement Renault made from 2019 to 2020: “It’s very much a credit to Daniel who’s been clearly leading the charge of the team and behind him a group of people and a group of mechanics and engineers who are doing a remarkable job on track. Off-track, obviously we know Daniel is a great ambassador, is a team leader. He has clearly been instrumental to the changes that we’ve done last year when we had altogether a disappointing season."
And even Mclaren's technical director James Key reflected positively on DR's technical knowledge: “He’s always been good technically. He brought us that second reference point from someone who could feel a car and knew what was going on. So, he brought that experience, brought reference points from other teams, which obviously Lando doesn’t, he’s grown up in McLaren."

Of course now that their scapegoat is gone they’re being upfront about the fact that they absolutely botched the new regulations and recovering at this stage is damn near impossible. Now they’re willing to admit that Key James is a failure who couldn’t turn the car around in line with DR’s input because he doesn’t fucking know how despite them acknowledging that the flaw is structural and is a characteristic of the car so much that their TP jumped ships to a team who had 10 DNFs last year bc he knows it’s a sinking ship. They’re now spending the entirety of december managing expectations before the car was even driven cause they don’t have a struggling race winner to blame for their upcoming clown show and are forced to take accountability for their own actions.
