my little pony episode that’s like the wedding episode but it’s divorce themed:

There’s a new alicorn princess named Princess Des Ánimo Flatulenza, who is married to Twilight’s long lost brother Moon Shine. Much like the wedding episode, this episode involves Twilight trying to tell everyone that Moon Shine has been replaced by a changling. No one believes her and assumes she’s just upset because she was never told about their wedding and they married after only knowing each other for eight months.

They also have a filly named Fury MyFault Heart, who actually has a canonical reason for having different eyes then the other fillies on the show (spoilers, it’s because she has that thousand yard stare from witnessing domestic violence).

Anyways so the plot twist is that Twilight was right all along…kind of. Turns out Moon Shine wasn’t replaced by a changling, he’s just an alcoholic whose entire personality does a 180 when he’s drunk! Celestia and friends apologize to Twilight and send Moon Shine to the dungeon. But Princess Flatness doesn’t press charges so he only spends the night there.

They get divorced, Flatness gets custody and Moon Shine gets enough money to open an apple cider garden that ultimately fails because Applejack’s cider is so much better. Moon Shine’s divorce lawyer goes on to become famous after representing the Flim Flam brothers in court. The Neighflix dramatization of that event stars an actor that is much hotter than the divorce lawyer is in real life.

Life is good for the unconventional family until season 9 when Princess Flatness ends up on some TERF forums and sues the School of Friendship for making Fury Heart transgender.

notes:

this poem is written in regluated verse rather than ancient style verse (meaning it has a fixed rhyme scheme and tonal pattern) so i decided to translate it with rhyme and metre to try and preserve the musicality of the original

the first line might also be translated as "the night you came to wu" but that didn't fit with my metre, so i went with the version you see above

"part ways" is my translation of 送, which is difficult to translate concisely as we don't really have an english equivalent (送 means to accompany someone for the first stretch of their journey when they leave). basically, the context of the poem is: his friend xin jian is returning to the capital city of luoyang, where the poet's family lives, but he's an official and needs to stay alone in wu, so he can only accompany him as far as the chu mountains before sending xin jian off alone while he remains behind.

"cradle of jade": okay, so this is a metaphor for a person who is honest and uncorrupt. the word actually used here is 壺, which refers to a sort of wine jar, and at one point had ceremonial or even ritualistic connotations. i toyed with translating it as 'vessel' (partly because i loved the double interpretation of drinking vessel versus sailing vessel, which i thought meshed nicely with the river imagery at the beginning and the general theme of travel). ultimately, however, i opted for 'cradle of jade', largely because the internal rhyme is so lovely and sort of replicates the assonance of the original line. but i also wanted the positive connotations of 'cradle' to soften the image of the 'icy' heart—having a heart like ice is generally a negative descriptor in english, but the imagery of the final line is so striking and pivotal that i didn't want to alter it, so i tried to offset it instead. might change it again later! idk!

If you could change one major detail about pony lore what would change?

mmmm this is very self indulgent but probably even more hybrid/fantasy pony species like they have the mermaid ponies they have the fairy ponies, girl toy aisle staples but one could push it. also I think they should have subspecies of the other species the way theres ponies -> unicorn -> pegasi -> earth ponies like changlings -> beetle esque -> butterfly (maybe too close to breezies?) -> ladybugs or something like the possibilities are endless. hell even spider ponies if you wanna get weird and unmarketable with it. merponies -> shark ponies -> dolphin ponies -> octupii ponies. you get the idea. they could probably crib off of monster high more other than just equestria girls. every toy line does. they have vampire bat ponies. something with a transformation gimmick, to boost toy sales.

on the twelfth day of halloween my true boo gave to me...a goblin king in gotham

Jareth is summoned to the human realm close to All Hallows Eve. He doesn’t particularly want to go, there are preparations for the feast and he still hasn’t chosen his outfit — but alas he is bound and appears in a shower of glitter despite his reluctance.

There he finds a crying baby alone in a room. The child has grey eyes and dark hair and he already knows of a fae couple who will be exceedingly pleased to raise the child as their own. The child itself is filthy, clearly hungry and in desperate need of a diaper change. He waves a hand and magic takes care of first one and then the other as he stuffs a bottle into the mouth of the babe.

Normally once the child stops crying the care giver comes to check, so he allows himself to fade back into the wallpaper as he waits.

And waits.

He’s not a particularly patient king, but it won’t do to upset the child and so he waits for the time it takes for the little tyke to finish it’s bottle before he hands him off to one of the goblins and goes to find the care giver.

After all, he owes them a boon or, annoyingly, a chance to win the child back before he can consider this transaction complete.

He finds the woman in the living room, bottle in hand and smoke heavy in the air. He considers appearing in a show of sparks or something else, but given how very tossed the woman is he doesn’t think it will make much difference, so he just walks in and she jerks back like he had appeared out of nowhere.

“Who’re you?” her words are nearly indecipherable as she lists to the side and blinks repeatedly at him.

“You wished your child away, and I generously took him off your hands,” he says, since he’s fairly certain she’s not going to be coherent for much longer and he doesn’t want to waste magic to sober her up, “and now I will leave you with a dream. What dream do you desire?”

“I want a child,” she says and he rubs the bridge of his nose, he really does have much to do to prepare for the feast.

“If you want your child back you—“

“Not that child,” she says, sounding slightly more sober, or at least slurring less, “one that’s mine and good.”

He stares at her for a moment and then shrugs, humans are awful and this is just one more sign of it. “You’ll have your wish,” he says and strides out of the room. He looks for toys first — toys are always easy to transform into children, they have some of the love and energy already put into them, but there isn’t a toy to be found in the entire house.

He is viciously glad that he’s taking the babe away from this, but he doesn’t spare a thought of compassion for the changling he will leave in place.

After a few more moments of searching he finds enough to create the replacement child — the changling. A dull pocket knife with some grime crusted so deeply into it that the inscription cannot be read for one arm, a lighter for the other, a piece of brick for the body, a half burned book for the head, and a cutlery for the legs. He waves his hands, drips glitter and magic and soon there’s a babe, dark haired with bright blue eyes, and similar enough to the other that few will notice the difference. He doesn’t expect the child will last long — even a changling needs love and attention to continue to cling to life.

Of course, in the absence of love and attention magic will suffice. Jareth, of course, doesn’t leave any with it when he goes, but he doesn’t spend enough time in the modern century to realize that cities have their own magic. And Gotham who sees children die every day, who is nothing but dark pain and suffering for many, looks at this child made from her bricks, broken and made to die, and she snarls and lays her magic on him — and so the changling that was made to replace Jason Todd thrives, and survives.

And learns to fly.

Star Trek & Star Wars

On 10-03-21 my gf and I went to a Punk Rock Flea Market and one of the vendors we came across had some old Playmates Star Trek toys, and another one had some old Kenner Star Wars toys. So naturally I bought them.

Star Wars (Kenner)

You can’t have enough Imperial stormtroopers or TIE fighter pilots, or AT-AT pilots for that matter.

R5-D4 was in pretty good condition so I had to grab it, even though this is my third Kenner R5. I always wanted R5-D4 as a kid, but never got him. He was always a minor grail for me, so every time that I see one, I pick one up.

Romulan Warbird

The Romulan Warbird is from Playmates ‘The Next Generation’ toyline.

This was my first one (I own a second one now). It’s in pretty good condition, however there’s some discoloration around some of the sculpted wing details, and at the forward section of the ship.

But otherwise I think the sculpting on the ship is nice, but simple, and the painting is almost nonexistent...Actually forget the almost part, it IS nonexistent; the entire ship is a cast in green plastic, aside from the transparent blues of the warp nacelles. The does have lights and sounds but so far I haven’t bothered to see if they actually work yet..

Now moving on to the 4inch figures.

All the figures are loose, in good condition and mostly missing their accessories.

Starfleet Cadet Data:

The Cadet Data was part of a later series of Playmates trek figures supposed to be featuring all younger versions of the TNG cast. I think this is one of he few times Playmates strayed away from creating screen accurate (Star Trek) toys and making and creating their own things which was never featured in any of the shows.

The antagonist from ‘Star Trek: The Search for Spock’ played by Christopher Lloyd, and I have to say Playmates did capture the look of him really well!

Kahless...or should I say his clone is the least interesting one in my opinion. But he stands well.

Benjamin Sisko (as a Klingon):

I had to do a double take on this figure. When I first got all these guys I really didn’t give this figure much attention. At first I though he might be Worf’s biological brother, but thee I was holding the figure in my hand and just the right right angle and said to myself, ‘Wait; is that Sisko?’ And sure enough it was him from that one DS9 episode some of the DS9 crew infiltrated the great hall to expose a Changling.

DayDreamBreeze. also my original gamertag on minecraft! i uhm. shes not supposed to be a cheese changling. She's inspired by a fluttershy toy i had and the beautiful artwork for the honey queen chrysalis from ink rose's interpretation of her backstory. i swapped the honey for water and she's supposed to be a pegasus? but i drew her as a changling here for some reason and i have no clue why

Casey Cockatrice. Seeing pony youtubers discuss the show in their oc form, and thinking "wow, they're all just pegasi" i was like "i should do that but not be a pegasus" so i made an oc and never did that lol. probably a good thing though. anyhow. Casey was originally supposed to be an angel cockatrice but I didn't know how to do that without just making a chicken with a lizard tail until just now im realizing i should make it a dutchie omg. Casey enjoys the ponies and wants to befriend them but is confined to the everfree forest, so she has dawned a blindfold so she doesnt hurt anyone and she likes to hang out with zecora and collect herbs with her. she still just kinda does chicken/dragon things most of the time like pecking at the ground and sitting on treasure. The ring in her comb is supposed to be a halo. halos stuck in the character's design physically (usually through the hair or something similar) was a common thing i did for characters that were close to me at the time.

Lemon Lily. She is. very bright. she was supposed to have a much more subtle color palette but i didnt do that and now she looks like sprite lmao. anyhow. i drew her randomly when i went through a small mlp phase a few years ago, mainly just attraction for chrysalis, but i guess she exists. her cutie mark is supposed to look like a water lily made of lemons but it kinda just looks weird idk. i'd say her talent is supposed to be like.. maybe floral arrangement? i think i had some inspiration from early mlp background ponies and i remember the florists were my favorite.

JASON!! my favorite little idiot. he's a griffin i made in pony.town after realizing if i use the singular freckle and closed the eyes, it looked like he had tiny eyes and angry brows lol. all i do with him is act vaguely like skydoesminecraft and boop people with my bird fingers.

then is autumn breeze whom i've drawn literally in like my last post so im not doing it again rn. she's my LOE pony and if you want her lore go to the post where i drew her on my phone.

Honey Suckle. The only OC that I have surviving evidence of actually writing their backstory and whatnot. They were created with the idea of them experimenting on their body trying to turn themselves into a bee (basically beeatris as a horse, i know none of you know my persona beeatris but its pretty much her without the demonic activity and disney fairy influence), though i have thought of maybe changing it to her wanting to become a breezy or a changeling. She lost her horn because of this experimentation and is fluffier and has patches of hair on her eyes because of it. i forgot if she had a cutie mark or if i just didnt draw it or if it's overgrown? I think a lot of this character's experimentation was based off of memories of my brother who had leukemia and tried experimental treatments, mainly the fuzziness he got from his chemo or steroids i forgot which one it was. I also drew her as a kirin, idk if that was supposed to be a thing of like.. me doing it as an alternate idea of what she's aiming to achieve, as an alternate form of what she was born as.. or if it was just a doodle.. but it was pretty cool. a good quote for her is the vine thats like "i am a wolf on all levels but physical"

Next is Pegasus. I originally had a different name for them but i don't think i can share it here. Pegasus is also related to my brother though and is very cool. they're really just a celestial body as a pony like Celestia and Luna, but with more of a crystal pony inspiration. also, they speak enchanting table only and i think thats really funny. same size as Luna. also, she can hide in Luna's hair.

Stone Hoof. based somewhat off of Smokey Quartz from Steven Universe, i thought it'd be cool to also give them speckling like an appaloosa horse or vitiligo. you can't see their cutie mark but it's supposed to be a yoyo and i put it in the shape of the symbol of leo since im a leo and i designed them on the same day as pegasus lol. they are intended to be a friend to Honey Suckle.

Finally, we have... I didn't name this one actually. uhm. well! it looks kinda like scootaloo, especially g3 or 3.5. which was unintentional but she was one of my favorite ponies and i had a few toys of her so it kinda makes sense that this is what my brain thought of when i thought "well loved my little pony doll". The hair is based off of the fettucine hair on those g4 plushies and also somewhat based on dreads. the patterns on their hooves is the heartshaped horseshoe from those promotional toys where you can scan them in for video game perks. and the wings are colored after discord's wings. I also got inspo from Stitches from Animal Crossing.
