SPOILERS for TMI, TSC...everything til The Wicked Powers tbh. OC x Jace:
realizing that if my Wayland Shadowhunter!OC marries Jace, they have a last name problem.
she's the last Wayland & he's the last Herondale (until they find Kit). yeah, they could hyphenate, but I think that's only canonically happened w/Malec, partly because Magnus is a warlock.
now I'm also realizing that the Lightwood name (by itself, at least) will die out, bc Izzy's gonna be Isabelle Lovelace (pretty!). oof.
welp, guess some Ascended Shadowhunters are gonna have to pick up the slack.
meanwhile, my OC has no idea that Kieran's her half-brother, through their mom (who's still secretly alive in the Unseelie Court somewhere)
ONLY LIKE THIS IF YOU WANT TO RP TSC AS JACE (I don’t mind doubling up)

[chapter 1110 spoilers!]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
chapter 1110 reveals to us the mythical zoan forms of all five elders- as some people theorized, they’re all youkai of various sorts.
saturn is a gyuuki or ushi-oni (牛鬼), a type of ox-demon with clawed spider legs said to spread illness and spit poison.
mars is an 以津真天/itsumade, a type of ‘monstrous bird’ said to repeat いつまでいつまで/itsumade, itsumade (‘until when? until when?) during times of plague in myths dating back to the kenmu period. its name is also pronounced itsumade, but spelled with four different kanji.
warcury is a 封豨/houki, a boar monster said to be prone to violent rampages, destroying livestock and fields and killing and eating people. it also has a very tough hide which regular weapons cannot penetrate.
nusjurou is a 馬骨/bakotsu, ‘horse bones/skeleton.’ on a quick look i couldn’t find a good source with much more information about this one, but this blog post, citing the edo-period youkai book tosa obake zoushi, refers to it as a spirit of a horse that burned to death.
and then jupeter is a アンドワーム/sandowaamu, ‘sandworm’, a youkai famously originating from frank herbert’s dune.

One Piece Chapter 1108 - Initial Thoughts
Tumblr media
And we're back
Some battle lines have been drawn and the Blackbeard pirates made a move, though some people are still in battle or still in pursuit. What more can Oda throw at Egghead? Let's see
Spoilers for the Chapter, Support the Official Release also
Colorspread of some lovely ladies in a dog manor, all in fancy red dresses (except Robin and Reiju). Would've been cool to include the likes of Vivi, Carrot, Bonney etc. but I'm not gonna be unhappy with seeing Uta, Reiju and Tashigi all getting to join Robin, Nami and Boa
Wonder if Reiju's a frisky drunk or just likes making Tashigi flustered, I'm sure all the fanfic writers are having a field day
We pick up where we left off with Caribou, begging for his life
Van Augur notes how even though it's a government island, they can't trust Caribou to not be after Blackbeard's head
To Caribou's credit Augur at least knows who he is
But there it is, Caribou states he has valuable information, information which will very much endanger Luffy's new territories and allies
Stick him in a fucking barrel
The Vice Admirals continue to lament fighting the Pacifista, and decide to target Bonney to eliminate the authority she has
Got some new Vice Admiral names though; Hound and Guillotine
And that was Vice Admiral Doberman! Looking worse for ware, and also is a stooge
Vice Admiral Tosa is still on the island, and is looking to launch a haki-induced 10-fingered Shigan at Franky and Bonney
Buuuuut rather than give Franky some shine in the Vegapunk arc, Tosa gets flattened by a giant
The giants don't recognize Franky, since he doesn't look like his wanted poster, so ask if they're researchers
Franky does clarify he's among the crew, and Bonney beseeches them to help Luffy, Sanji and Vegapunk - proving some validity to the statement
A scholar also mentioned Vegapunk so there's plans to bring him too
Atlas, Bonney, Kuma and Franky get an escort to the Giants' ship, wonder if this will be Oda's latest divided crew method
More names: Vice Admiral Urban and Pomsky, wondering about Tosa
Bluegrass hijacks a surviving weaponized sea beast and rides to the shore with Doll
Doll was Saul's subordinate 20 years ago, interesting thing to note
That's a thing, the giants can't exactly reach the labophase either way you look at it
Luffy wants to pick up Vegapunk and run, but he's bleeding out and accepted his fate
Luffy doesn't take that for an answer though he made a promise, Vegapunk asks him though to look after Bonney
As much as she has an army of pacifista her high authority still makes her a target for life
Also Saturn is looking more and more like a Yokai painting, probably going full Zoan form
Completely coated in venom, Saturn attacks, with Sanji picking up Vegapunk and Luffy easily dodges
Sanji eats a boot from Kizaru, but in dropping Vegapunk the admiral finally impales his target
Angered, Luffy goes giant and grabs Saturn and Kizaru in place so Sanji can run
Despite being stabbed twice, Vegapunk seems to be in high spirits
Oh we have a THIRD CONTINGENCY!
Vegapunk's got a message out to the world, he's about to spill everything
Like how Shadow the Hedgehog is a punk ass bitch who pissed on his wife
Well this may be the 'incident' part. Just how much can you censor when it comes from Vegapunk himself? Though it'll likely be vague, since I doubt Vegapunk will have all the details to trash the WG and say the Straw Hats were saving him. His word may not hold much weight as an enemy of the state too. Strange Shaka didn't follow suit though.
Alas, Sanji still isn't getting that Kizaru fight it seems, Luffy's going at the double, but I doubt he'll stick to fight. Saturn seems like he's gonna go even crazier at this stage, looks like a wild animal. Bonney may have more crew endorsement mind you, but I still think she deserves a childhood rather than more piracy.
Giants will be a help though, still want Franky to show off a bit, but with Vice Admirals circulating still there is time. The plan is to get off the island, but at the same time everyone's having the same plan, will the Buster Call even succeed? What about the Seraphim? The CP agents? The Sleeping Giant? York? Stussy? Kaku?
Still things floating around, not enough pages to cover them all atm.

Tumblr media
I wrote an endnote to one of my fics that ended up being so long and spoiler-heavy that I had to exile a big chunk of it to my tumblr - so here you go: a big ol' Effort Post about the history and fictional history of your guy and mine, Ishin Wagi.
If you haven't finished Ishin, you probably shouldn't click to read the post under the cut, as it contains big endgame spoilers.
In contrast with Inoue Genzaburo — who’s portrayed in Ishin and other media as a serious, level-headed sort of guy — Serizawa Kamo was a heavy drinker with an infamously short temper. He was born in Mito and, like Sakamoto Ryoma, he was a member of the goshi class, though it should be noted that the extreme discrimination that we see Ryoma experiencing in-game is pretty specific to Tosa’s goshi; Serizawa wasn’t particularly poorly off. Also like Ryoma, Serizawa was involved in shishi activities: he was a member of the Tengu Party, an anti-foreigner political group whose members committed various acts of violent rebellion, including the 1860 assassination of Ii Naosuke (a high-ranking official in the Tokugawa shogunate whose death comes up in letters that you can find in Ishin Kiwami). Serizawa didn’t participate in the assassination, but between his ties to the Tengu Party and an incident in which he executed several of his subordinates for no good reason, he ended up in prison, where he assumed he’d be executed in turn. While there, Serizawa was said to have written a poem with his own blood on a piece of scrap cloth: “In the snow and frost, the plum blossom is the first to bloom in brilliant colours; its fragrance lingers even after the petals have scattered.”
In late 1862, Serizawa was released from prison. By early 1863 (and here I’m skimming over a lot of historical context) Serizawa had joined up with Kondo Isami as a member of the Mibu Roshigumi: the precursor to the Shinsengumi, so called because they were a bunch of ronin whose headquarters were originally in Mibu. They worked under the patronage of the Aizu clan; one of Serizawa’s brothers may have had connections to the clan, which Serizawa and Kondo might have leveraged to gain support for their organization. As a commander, Serizawa was kind of a disgrace by most accounts: among other offenses, he was responsible for wrecking a restaurant in a drunken rage and destroying a silk merchant’s shop with a cannon. Most importantly for my purposes, he was allegedly the man who picked a fight with a bunch of sumo wrestlers in the streets of Osaka.*
Serizawa was murdered in 1863, and there are various theories as to why. It’s popularly assumed that the guy was just a huge bastard who was too out-of-control to hold down his job, and that Hijikata and several other members of the organization killed him accordingly. Another theory that you’ll see sometimes is that while his familial connections were useful, Serizawa himself was a liability whom his companions discarded as soon as they felt secure in doing so. Under this theory, the issue wasn’t so much that he was badly behaved (though this probably didn’t help); it was more that he had his own little faction of men who went around looking down on the others and calling Serizawa “sensei,” and that Serizawa had ties to Mito, which remained a hotbed of seditious activity. (In fact, in 1864, civil war would break out in Mito as the Tengu Party staged an armed rebellion against the shogunate.)
I understand why Ishin’s writers dropped most of Serizawa’s history. It’s complicated, it’s not directly relevant to Ryoma’s story, and Inoue is a secondary character who’s meant (like his mainline counterpart) to come across as a superlatively loyal mentor figure and not as a belligerent asshole. But it’s interesting, in that context, that the writers went out of their way to allude to Serizawa’s history in weird ways. In-game, Serizawa is described as “a living shadow from the Mito domain” — which, okay, you could indeed describe the historical Serizawa that way, given that he narrowly escaped execution and then left Mito to join the Roshigumi. But he’s also described as a wandering bandit who took Hirayama and Hirama under his wing before meeting Kondo in Kyoto, which doesn’t particularly fit with history. Okita — our Okita, the fake one, lol — also says that the three of them committed dappan and were promised a pardon by the Mito domain if Serizawa assassinated Yoshida Toyo, which also has no basis in historical reality but which does make him an accessory to the big players’ nasty schemes for a comprehensible reason. Finally, Serizawa’s school of swordsmanship is referred to as “Mito Tengu” despite the fact that, historically, Serizawa trained in the Shindo Munen school. Conveniently, Ishin’s writers managed to skip over Serizawa’s awfulness on a personal level and to avoid depicting the character in the game as a prominent (and very willing) member of a violently xenophobic political group. I’m listing all of these oddities not to make a judgement about the whitewashing of history, but because it's interesting to me that what did end up in the game is there at all: the writers didn’t need to, but they established a connection between Serizawa, the Tengu Party, and the shishi more broadly anyhow.
Of course, I have the brain disease that makes me latch onto minor characters for no good reason and will therefore take whatever little crumbs of Ishin Kashiwagi I can get. Still, typing all of this up made me think about the missed opportunities here. I would have loved to see the writers do more with some version of Serizawa who was a little less of a bastard but who still committed himself to the shishi’s cause in his Mito days and then grew disillusioned with that cause during his stay in prison and his time with the Mibu Roshigumi. It’s a neat point of sympathy between Inoue and Ryoma, who finds himself similarly chewed up and spat out by the Tosa Loyalist Party in the game. That connection lends gravity to Inoue’s decision to tattle on Ryoma to Kondo but also to keep covering for the guy every time he says or does something transparently suspicious. They might be, in a sense, kindred spirits.
It felt too tangential to delve too much into all of this stuff in my Ishin fics, but you can imagine this sense of sympathy lying behind Inoue’s actions throughout Chapter 4 of Secret History &c. (as well as in his little sequence in Chapter 2 of Glorious and Bloody Deeds &c.). You can also imagine that some of the big shishi conspirators in this story would have known about Serizawa’s origins in Mito with the Tengu Party — it was no big secret — and that they would have been appalled by his new allegiances but also suspicious that he had died because of his old ones. It’s also pretty reasonable to assume that the big Choshu players would have some sense of Saito’s identity, given that Hanpeita and Katsura are allies in Ishin’s version of events. Of course, I also think that our Ryoma wouldn’t know shit about any of this and would absolutely respond like, huhh? whaaaa??? to any/all allusions to the complicated politics behind all these stories. If you’re in a state of perpetual confusion about people and politics while playing Ishin, you’re just doing a great job of role-playing Bakumatsu Kiryu.
Anyway, nearly everything I write is turbo horny and my Ishin fics are no exception, so please don’t read them at work, but they’re very much about the stories men tell about themselves and others, and I think if all this stuff interests you, you might find the yarns I’ve spun interesting as well.
* This is another event that’s mentioned in passing in an in-game letter that was added to Ishin Kiwami, and whatever my feelings about that remake might be, I think all the letters and notes are a brilliant addition; I was tickled to see a reference to this incident show up! Historically, the Big Sumo Brawl happened well before 1867 and it had nothing to do with the events covered in Ishin, so please understand that when I’m writing about it in my fic, I’m mashing events together and playing around with a big Bakumatsu sandbox in a way that I think feels true to the game’s style of writing. I thought it would be funny to have Inoue lay claim to the act when he wasn’t even on the scene; it brings the story in line with history, but in the stupidest possible way. (Also, I submit to you that the smut is practically canon-compliant and likely historically accurate. :V)

So I find myself simping hard for Artem Wing this morning, and decide to nurse that ache by re-reading my favorite Tears of Themis card stories.
First up is Por Una Cabeza
Tumblr media
When I first pulled this card, all I knew was that I was getting ARTEM WEARING A FANCY MASK.
But then I read the story and was confused.
Like, really confused.
Spoilers below the cut if you haven't read this card yet.
This post has two parts. Maybe three if I decide to include the video call? So look in my reblogs for the rest of this recap!
This card's story is set BEFORE they are in an established relationship, before any love confession takes place.
So ... both Rosa and Artem are having similar nightmares at the beginning, but the reader isn't aware they are reading a dream.
Tumblr media
Now that I am reading it through again, I can more fully appreciate the other-worldliness of the "nightmare" and understand why everyone is acting strangely with bad memories, lol.
The bright red digital clock face glaring at Tosa in the fancy hotel lobby makes MUCH more sense more that I know it's her own bedside alarm clock she's incorporating into her dreamscape.
Tumblr media
Also? ALSO?!? TODAY, the day I'm reading this right now is December 24th! What are the odds! I totally forgot this story takes place on Christmas Eve, because they call the event the New Year's Ball. Idk why... 🤷‍♀️
Anyways, back to recapping my favorite moments:
🥹 @ Artem second-guessing himself, worrying about you, wondering if you're okay, and if it's his fault
Tumblr media
Awwwww, Artem!
His pouting face!
That's just like him to be concerned, and to jump to the conclusion that it might be his fault. He also wants to get to the bottom of any problem you have, so he can:
Discover the root cause of "Problem X"
Understand the reason for your distress
And plan for ways to fix/avoid it in the future so you never have to encounter/worry about "Problem X" ever again
Yes, this man is a 'fixer' but he does more than put a cosmetic bandage on things. He wants to make sure you never have to experience that same hurt a second time. He wants to learn from his own mistakes and others to prevent problems in the future. He wants to control the outcome by preparing for any eventuality.
The amount of energy and effort he puts into his "Rosa Long-Game" is mind-boggling.
Okay, I could go on forever about Artem's control issues, how amazing he is, and what makes him perfect husband-material.
So let's not get lost in the weeds out here. Back to the story!
There is this sublime moment where the two nightmares meld, as if the two of them are sharing the same dream!
And they meet FINALLY, after hours of panicked searching and confusion:
Tumblr media
So they eventually wake up, and they decide to text the other to see if they're awake, and it turns into a phone call. No biggie. Just a phone call. At 2am. Between coworkers. Talking about their dreams. 😘 Nothing peculiar about that, right?
Everyone does that with their colleagues, don't they??
😏 Sure .... sure.
Next:
We find out Artem only knows one dance.
Which isn't exactly weird... many dudes don't know any dances.
What is odd is the one dance this shy boy knows:
Tumblr media
The tango?
One of the most sensual and passionate dances ever?
Really?
Really.
The tango.
That's your go-to dance, Artem?
Okay.
Let's keep reading:
Tumblr media
Ohhhhhh.
*BREATHES*
We get a glimpse into their month-long practices.
30 days of being caged in Artem's arms, spending every day after work in close proximity, working up a sweat.
Oof.
And then once you're confident in the steps, the fun part of the "act" both partners must put on to sell the push and pull of emotions.
The haughtiness, the indignation, the desire, the attraction, the softening and relenting at last, all of that passion needed to put on a good show!
Yup...
...Just what two normal work co-workers do on a daily basis.
TOTALLY NORMAL. 😏
Tumblr media
*nods*
Yup.
"Suitable tango partner"
Uh-huh.
Artem. Artem! Stop lying to yourself!!
And then there's THIS:
Tumblr media
LMAO @ Artem wishing for a weapon to fight off anyone else who might try to take her away from him.
Tumblr media
"Everyone will know"
*sucks in breath*
Possessive!Artem is a really really hawt Artem.
Just sayin'
🥵🤤🥴❤️‍🔥🫠😍
AND they mention his adam's apple! Okay, this might not be a turn-on for other people. But it is to me.
I can point at obvious times in my life where I've decided that a certain action/attribute is attraction or sexy. But not the adam's apple. I have no explanation for why I find it mesmerizing!
But bless the writer who decided to mention that specific anatomy in this story! Shout out to you for adding to my swoon! 🫡
End of Part 1 - Check the reblogs for Part 2

Izo Boss Rush: The Revenge of Izo
Ishin Spoilers
This was the other raffle winner for @majimemegoro ! Sorry it ended up taking longer than expected, hopefully I won’t have to rush back and correct some things once ishin drops in a little over a week!
Tumblr media
I skipped all the ishin events when they first happened because I was on the cusp of being able to play it and didn’t want to spoil myself (or flounder horrifically!) so I’m glad I can go back to them now (and only flounder somewhat)
Summary:
After Ryoma and Izo’s opening confrontation, Ryoma has some time to kill. Izo, on the other hand, has some people to kill.
In order to carry out a reformation of the Tosa caste system, Sakamoto Ryoma is named Party Representative, head of the Tosa Loyalist Party.
However, he is ambushed by members of the Loyalist Party, including the second in command, Okada Izo.
Ryoma was able to fend off Izo’s attack with his own sword.
He has planned to meet with Yoshida Toyo that night at Kochi Castle, however some time remains before then.
Tumblr media
Hanpeita: ...So will you be going to Kochi Castle once it gets a bit darker, Ryoma?
Ryoma: I'm...
<flashback, as evidenced by the sepia>
Tumblr media
Yoshida: ...Well then, Ryoma. Since you've returned to Tosa, have you had bonito tataki? Ryoma:…No. Yoshida: "Yoiyoi" has some good bonito. I'm not able to go, but you should go try it. (Tl note: yoiyoi is 酔い酔い, a restaurant in ishin. the name is literally like "drunken drunken" and I don't think I've seen how it'll be localized, so you just get the name spelled out as is)
Tumblr media
Ryoma: ....I plan on wandering around a bit more. I think I'll go try the bonito that Pops recommended to me. <he leaves>
Tumblr media
Shop Keeper: Thank you! Please come again. Ryoma: Haa~, that was delicious. Naturally there's no better bonito than in Tosa... hmm? ???: Ahhhh! Help me! Ryoma: I'm pretty sure those are the men who pretended to be in the Tosa Loyalist Party... And on the other side... Okada Izo.  Fake Tosa Loyalist Party Member: F-Forgive me! We'll never impersonate the Tosa Loyalist Party again!
Tumblr media
Izo: ...Not good enough. Die. Fake Loyalist: A-Ahhhh! <Ryoma steps in>
Tumblr media
Ryoma: .....We should drop this. Izo: You're... Sakamoto Ryoma. Making an entrance here, huh.... Ryoma: I've already told you this. If you joined the Loyalist Party because you want to kill people, you should leave.
Tumblr media
Ryoma: You all should get out of here. ....I'll hold this guy off. Fake Loyalist: Y-Yes sir...!
<the fake loyalist group leaves>
<Izo takes a swing at Ryoma>
Tumblr media
Ryoma: !? Izo: I may have lost earlier, but that was merely a single bout. ....I'll kill you this time.  Izo: If I win, I'm going to kill you and then I'll kill them. Ryoma: ...And if I win, you'll let those men go. Izo: ...Fine. Izo: We'll go to the old battleground beside the river. There won't be any people there.  Ryoma: ...Okay. Let's go.
<they go, and the boss rush event happens>
Tumblr media
Izo: Guh... Ryoma: That's the end of that...
<he sheathes his sword>
Izo: Wait... why don't you strike me down? Ryoma: ...I didn't join the Loyalist Party so that I could kill people. You and I are different. <Ryoma walks off>
Tumblr media
Izo: ....Heh. The style that would be expected of the "Party Representative". Splendidly done.
Tumblr media
Izo: ....I will make sure you regret that. The one who will support Takechi-sensei... is me.
<he leaves, and someone else steps in>
Tumblr media
Hanpeita: ...As expected, Ryoma won. Hanpeita: Letting even those who attempt to kill you live, that kindness... no, it's softness. Hanpeita: ...Yes. That's the kind of man you are.
Tumblr media
Hanpeita: Then I suppose we have no choice but to follow our own paths... kyoudai.
<END> Bonus time:
This one was pretty short but boy howdy does translating ishin kick my ass with all these character and place names I’m not used to. I do think it’s really funny that they just tacked another loss onto Izo’s record like this. Just for fun.
Hanpeita is Shibusawa in ishin kiwami which will....... make some things very interesting, I think.
Thank you to this youtube channel for once again supplying me with events, I owe everyone who recorded them my life

Fic: Special Training [ read ] Fandom: Like a Dragon: Ishin (Yakuza: Ishin) Pairing: Sakamoto Ryoma | Saito Hajime x Todo Heisuke Rating: E Warnings: Postgame spoilers A/N: After the events of Ishin, Ryoma tries to convince Heisuke to agree to a special training plan. Because he could use it. Excerpt:
Saitō and the others limped back from Tosa, pale and bloodied. They’d returned quietly in the night, so secretly that Heisuke had only noticed when he’d walked out yawning from his room in the morning and smacked nose-first into Saitō’s broad back. It’d been like walking into a wall. As he rubbed his nose ruefully, Saitō turned. His dark eyes swept Heisuke’s face, his expression blank as he said, “Tōdō.”
“Ah… you’ve returned.” Heisuke blinked. “Hijikata-san and the others…?”
“Back.” Saitō had never been one to mince words. “They’re fine. You?”
“Walking,” Heisuke said with a playful smile. He was never good at stopping bad old habits. Not that flirtation of any sort seemed to work on Saitō. The man wasn’t cold or indifferent; he just seemed… oblivious. Through Heisuke’s enforced stay in Teradaya, he often wondered how Saitō had gone about courting a pretty, popular girl like Oryo. Maybe he didn’t need to do much, what with being handsome and an unparalleled swordsman.
“Good.” Saitō started to walk away, then hesitated and turned back. “Kitakata talked to me.”
“Complained?”
“No.”
“…Is that all you’re going to say?” Heisuke said as Saitō seemed to decide that was the end of the conversation. This got him a puzzled stare. “Shouldn’t it be, ‘Tōdō, you did a great job’, or, ‘Thanks for keeping a lid on things in Kyo’?”
“You didn’t die. That’s good,” Saitō said. As Heisuke started to object, he added, “The rest—not bad.”
“That’s it?” Heisuke said, incredulous.

Hello I don't have Ao3 account, but I wanted to ask a question about Chapter 4 of your fanfiction.
Is Teruteru and his family native speaker of French? I'm wondering if he is mix French and Japanese if that makes sense. Or if there is a unique background or story of Teruterus family in your story that makes them that way. (You don't have to tell if it is a spoiler)
Also I'm happy you released your recent Chapter ! I'm looking forward to it, and take your time
Thank you, glad you been enjoying the story far and to answer your question it kinda my way of doing Teruteru accent since it labeled Cajun in the English translation on every source I find it label his accent as Cajun, Cajun is a southern American accent that has french mix into it. (Although, the dr2 games it sound like just a heavy southern American accent but I digress.)
You see in the Japanese version Teruteru accent is kansei ban accent/dialect maybe Tosa-ben accent/dialect depending on where he lives kochi prefecture in which is almost impossible to translate into English since there no counter back to it so closest way of betraying it in spirt, is by happening a think southern accent or by having an accent that has a mixture of another another language as well. (It kinda suppose to hard other people to understand them at first due the think accent and heavy use of different vowels that best way I can describe it.
Now don’t quote me on that I’m no expert when it comes to localisation of language but I thought it was strange to not have Teruteru know french or even use french words in his way of talking when his accent is used, since he has a Cajun accent which has french mix into the southern American accent. So I made him mix in french words in his way of speaking when around his mother, younger half siblings and hometown he lived in hope that makes sense. Just think of it as my way of localising his way of speaking, I hope that make sense. ^^’ sorry if a little confusing ha ha…
Also about his background it the mostly the same as the games but with of my imagination sprinkled into it but I can’t tell you because spoilers. Don’t worry I will be taking my time with future chapters quality first and foremost and I’m happy your looking forward to future chapters. :)
ps feel free to comment of chapter as an anon if you like, I don’t mind and I love people thoughts on story so far.

I am out there for the whole gudaguda crew, they are the reason I still play the game probably because I laughed so fucking hard at gudaguda one and Nobu wanting to turn the holy grail into a bomb and the fourth ascension implying that she's inviting you to fuck? Everything was so hilarious and they had these serious moments too as the series went on further. Final Honnoji was wonderful too from Chief retainer Mash to Avenger Nobu, to Hijikata commanding the mini nobu squad while chowing down on chilled pickles! And Mori. OH MY GOD MORI.
I cannot wait until the next gudaguda where I will expand my shitpost roster with Mysterious Ranmaru X, who I only can HOPE aids Mori in being an absolute himbo. The fact that in 5 Nobukatsu gets everything he deserves only makes it better!
I have been deprived of any Okita for too long and now I can only imagine she and berserker Nobu will form an absolute dumbass unit and watch tv making stupid commentary on other type moon properties with Medusa and Artoria somewhere in the background.
Though here is the big question. WEN MONKEY?
Oh you and me there buddy, Gudaguda is the only reason I'm even still involved here and by god is it keepin me here. And yeah! There is so much Mori family bonding time in Gudaguda 6 you're gonna be so happy, Ranmaru X is basically one of the main forefronts and Nagayoshi is a very prominent party member.
Honestly, no complaints about 6 besides having a bit of difficulty keeping the names straight (there's a lot of important names that start with Ta-) and kind of same with 5, but I think 5 might've been impacted pretty heavily by reading it off machine translations. Still though, go in with a pencil and paper for the names for at least the first few episodes, it'll help a bunch.
That said, (I'll keep the spoilers to a minimum) 5 did suffer a bit from not knowing how to properly balance the upbeat seriousness of "getting shit done" and the dramatic seriousness of "incredibly emotional turn of events" leading to both instances feeling really out of place and hard to take seriously?? But while it was hard to take the actual incidents seriously they both had really strong impacts so please just assume both points (you'll know exactly when) are like. actually legitimately serious, I know I took the first for a joke until it was revealed it really wasn't a joke and so uh, yeah fair warning there lol
Honestly, I'm pretty surprised Toyotomi Hideyoshi hasn't shown up much yet? I believe in Redline/Koha-Ace(?) he's implied to have been in the previous HGW, and we've seen other instances of him in :RE flashbacks I believe, so I know he has potential to be summoned as a servant in some regard there, I just don't know if Gudaguda 2 established that as never gonna happen due to something something final boss of the event/cause of the singularity. But, I don't know if whatever happened there's enough to stop 'em from making Monkey properly summonable (or at least an NPC), so we'll have to see. Gudaguda 4 was all-in on the warring states, 5 was more for just shinsengumi, and 6 was mori but especially tosa people, so i could see an event focusing more on just the retainers now that we got Ranmaru X and Nagayoshi being buddy-buddy siblings. We'll have to see though.

Rating the Good Boys of Ace Attorney
1.       Missile
Tumblr media
The adorable, the original; a handsome Shiba Inu with investigative skills like no other.
Pros: a skilled, lovable, and clearly talented boy, faithful friend to Detective Gumshoe, the best secret weapon by far.
Cons: None known.
If you don’t choose Missile first just to walk around and find dialogue with this wonderful boy, you’re playing Turnabout Goodbyes wrong. Rating: 10/10.
2.       Anime Missile (Pess)
Tumblr media
Edgeworth’s dog in the flashback episodes, a faithful and super-cute Pomeranian modelled and named after Shu Takumi’s own dog. Presumably an on-screen interpretation of Edgeworth’s dog Pess, who is such a wonderfully good girl that she is only mentioned in interviews and doesn’t even appear in the games, because Capcom knows that if she appeared the degree of goodness would melt the console.
Pros: another very talented boy, can easily find his way back home if he has a trail to follow. Abandoned once but still keeps up his spirits and looks after little Miles. Does a killer MvK cosplay.
Cons: Accidentally caused the class trial by giving Edgeworth’s money to Larry. Then again, the trial meant Edgeworth and Phoenix became friends, so I guess it was a good thing after all…?
It doesn’t bear on his score because he’s too cute to be malicious. Rating: 10/10
3.       Napalm
Tumblr media
Mixing things up, we have a good GIRL here! Another Pomeranian; you can tell that she’s a Girl® because of her eyelashes, pink bow, and pink heart-shaped marking. Nevertheless, still an indescribably good girl.
Pros: Cute, stylish and ridiculously valuable girl. Indirectly helped Edgeworth become a prosecutor. Missile chasing after her in the same episode as Phoenix trying to contact Edgeworth makes her a lowkey Edgeworth mirror??? Very pretty with a wonderful name.
Cons: Absolutely none.
If she came up to me on the street I would cry because she’s so cute. Rating: 10/10
4.       Constantine
Tumblr media
To add a twist, here’s an unbelievably fluffy non-canon boy! He’s Inquisitor Barnham’s dog, and is responsible for the scar on Barnham’s face. He doesn’t seem to have a canon breed, but that’s okay, because he’s small and fluffy and that’s what matters.
Pros: A good boy, with a lot of personality! He’s feisty and clever enough to give puzzles to Layton, Wright & co. Just look at him!!! I can honestly say I have never seen a better boy. He even plays a role in the endgame of PLvsAA when Barnham can’t make it.
Cons: Attacked Nick when he tried to pet him, so he’s not the most well-mannered boy, but that’s okay!! He’s cute enough to get away with it.
He may be the only dog in the world to be an official member of an order of knights. Rating: 10/10
5.       Shah’do
Tumblr media
Ahlbi’s puppy who can’t seem to decide if he’s a dog or a hat. He’s canonically a Tibetan mastiff, which means that when he’s all grown up, he’ll be about three times the size he is now! Quite mischievous, but never causes too much trouble, and it all works out in the end.
Pros: He’s loyal, adorable, cute and intelligent, even sensing and reflecting Ahlbi’s emotions! He really is one of the cutest boys I’ve ever seen.
Cons: Naughty!!
Clearly has magical Khura’inese powers of cuteness, judging by the mitamah marking on his forehead. Rating: 10/10
6.       Jugemu
Tumblr media
The dog who lives at the Toneido School’s Kurukuru Tei theatre, this boy deserves some more love!! A beautiful good boy with a very healthy appetite; he single-handedly convinced me that Turnabout Storyteller is the best case in AA6. He only appears in one graphic, but I love him nevertheless.
Pros: He has an adorable little kennel so he can stay out of the rain when he has to, and he’s instrumental in solving the case.
Cons: None whatsoever!
I wanted to see more of him! Rating: 10/10
There are a few more good boys, but they have plot roles in DGS2 and AAI2, so beware of serious spoilers under the cut!
Spoilery (But Still Good) Boys
1.       Anubis
Tumblr media
One of the scarier boys on the list! He’s the guide dog of the blind assassin Sirhan Dogen, and while he’s very clever, he’s also very intimidating! He resembles a Tosa, a breed also known as Japanese mastiffs. (He’s probably killed people in the past, but let’s brush over that for a moment.)
Pros: He’s a startlingly long-lived boy! Unless Dogen replaces his dogs on the down-low (which feels unlikely) he’s been at Dogen’s side for nineteen years! Plus, I feel like if I was nice to him, he would let me pet him.
Cons: You know what? None. He doesn’t have a single malicious bone in his furry body, he’s just a deeply loyal and obedient boy. It’s not his fault that his master is an assassin; he’s still a good boy!
Despite having such a scary reputation, Anubis did nothing wrong. …Kind of. Rating: 10/10
2.       Balmung
Tumblr media
The second scarily good boy on our list, Balmung is another good but admittedly terrifying boy. He is the dog of a serial killer, the Professor, and he most closely resembles a lurcher hound, though his breed was never confirmed. Despite outward appearances, I promise you he’s a good boy at heart- he just happened to also be used as a murder weapon.
Pros: He’s the real Hound of the Baskervilles, how cool is that? He’s also quite an old boy, living for at least twelve years and remaining active even then. And he’s listed as his owner’s friend on the Ace Attorney wiki, which is also very cute, and strong evidence of his good boy nature.
Cons: …He’s kinda scary…!
Tumblr media
Overall, despite being quite a frightening boy, Balmung means well. Rating: 10/10
3.       Toby
Tumblr media
In stark contrast to the previous two good but murder-y boys, we have one of the cutest boys of the whole series: Toby!! He’s Gina’s dog after she becomes a detective, and is honestly my favourite good boy in the series (but shhh, that’s a secret!) Toby is based on a dog of the same name from the Holmes novels!
Pros: Seriously, just look at him! He’s a classically cute boy. He’s the Platonic Ideal of what a good boy should be. And he’s talented, too- he helps Naruhodou solve a lot of cases!
Cons: …He does attack Naruhodou once. But it leads into the best joint reasoning segment of the whole game, so I can forgive him.
It’s especially sweet when you realise that in-universe Toby is probably named after Gina’s mentor, Tobias Gregson! Rating: 10/10
