for a moment i was thinking “am i getting older or are fans of heathers just getting younger?” before remembering i was 14/15 when i watched a shitty ripped copy of The Bootleg (aka the one with charissa chandler and dan domenech jd. i know there’s another video out there with jkw chandler but aurora spiderwoman is pretty notorious for never releasing their stuff beyond clips on youtube 😔). so the answer is probably both - i AM getting older (i turn 23 in 9 days. what the hell) and heathers (the musical, to be clear) is marketed to a teenage audience*, so kids writing shitty jd/reader fanfics and outlandishly out of character headcanons is just par for the course. fork found in kitchen, water found in pool, etc etc.

Jasmine's happy life ended when she was fifteen. Armed men came into her house, shot her parents where they were sitting next to her on the couch, and taunted her for what seemed like forever before they finally left. She made it through boarding school in a daze, but once she got into a decent university (thanks to her parents' influence, as they'd been politicians), she woke up. Nightmares made it too hard to sit in a classroom, so she decided to study abroad, learning what she needed to find her parents' killer. She worked her way up a chain of corrupt officials until she finally got the person who had ordered the hit. Now she spends her time tracking down hired hands. To her, nothing is worse than a person who kills for money, except maybe the coward who hired them. Jasmine faked her death not long after ending secondary school. She has befriended the Bowery King, and the High Table knows about her.

(Specifics; mostly notes for me)

Jas's mom, Honora, was a Teachta Dála (TD) aka a member of Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Oireachtas (the Irish Parliament). She was the leader of Sinn Féin, the strongest opposition party that advocates for the unity of Ireland, welfare, the right to abortion (up to 3 months), and generally rejecting any connections to the UK. Her dad, Declan, was a a Bhreithimh, a judge who served on the An Ard-Chúirt aka the High Court, which deals with serious criminal and civil cases. Both of Jas's parents were executed based on their political influence, which some believed could be used to oust the Taoiseach (Prime Minister), as he needs to have a majority of the Dáil supporting him to stay in office. When Jas's parents were killed, it was November, and she'd hardly begun Third Year of her Junior Cycle at Scoil Chaitríona. She went to St. George's International School in Switzerland until she was 16, old enough to end her education.

Jasmine appears to be a petite (5'3") woman in good shape for her age and height. She is toned, due to her frequent exercise. Her light brown skin hints towards her father's African heritage. Her eyes are dark green, nearly passing for dark brown or black, depending on the lighting. Her wavy hair, which typically meets her collarbone, turns various shades of blue corresponding with her mood (it lightens as she cheers up), hinting towards her mother's nixie heritage. Her ears are also slightly pointed. Jas only wears clothes other than her black and grey training or fighting gear (which resembles patchwork Shadowhunter gear) when she's going undercover or visiting a (rare) friend. She never wears white, as white is traditionally worn at Shadowhunter funerals.

BACKGROUND (be descriptive)

Jasmine was born to Ethan Wayland, a Shadowhunter who became Michael Wayland's brother when his mom remarried, and Líadan, a Nixie who served as a handmaiden to the Seelie Queen. Her parents had met when Ethan was supposed to be spying on the Seelie for the Clave...yeah, well, instead he fell in love with Jas's mom. They raised their little girl in secret, happily teaching her to swim, walk, and speak their languages. But then their respective sides deemed them both traitors. Líadan was exiled to the Unseelie territories, a sentence worse than death for Seelie. Ethan ended up on the run with Jas after being charged with treason. Before Michael died, he and Ethan used to send each other fire messaged postcards, but Michael stopped as the Circle became more violent towards Downworlders, as he knew about both Líadan & baby Jas. So, Ethan & Jas didn't learn about their relative's death for some time. The two would travel the world as he taught her to hunt, never befriend anyone, and kill any Shadowhunters who came into their path. Unfortunately, when Jas got her first angelic rune (Voyance), the thing burned her hand and made her fall terribly ill. Long story short, Magnus Bane saved her life, suggesting that she use demonic runes drawn on with a special bronze stele. This worked due to her fey blood, and Jas had what she'd call a decent life with her father until he sacrificed himself to save her on a hunt when she was 15. Now she uses faerie magic, her runes, and her skills to hunt for money. Her vampire ex-girlfriend, Selene, is her broker who is commonly found at Club Pandemonium. Jas also has a FWB/informant relationship with the Nephilim raised by Seelie, Cathan Morgenstern (OC). She later learns that her mom, Líadan, lived to become a lover of the Unseelie King and mother to Kieran Kingson. This makes Jas and Kieran half-siblings (she's technically 4 years older than him, by Earth standards).

(in most instances; TW for topics similar to drug addiction) Jas used to have a sexual & reciprocal informant relationship with a vampire named Selene. Now Selene serves as the middleman for Jas's "business", negotiating prices and moving money around for her ex-lover. She also (consensually) bites Jas when she visits her in Club Pandemonium, as Jas uses the natural venom/aphrodisiac in a vampire's saliva to relax after hard missions. It could be said that Jas has somewhat of a "drug problem" as far as this is concerned.

(depending on partner's comfort; TW for mention of some gore/bladed violence & non-con) In the past, I've written that Jas meets Sebastian prior to City of Ashes. They consensually sleep together. Then he, via his father, offers her money to help the Morgensterns. Knowing their disdain for Downworlders (& their overall evil), she tries to leave, but Sebastian surprises her in a fight that she loses. He proceeds to force her to sleep with him again, then he chains her where Valentine used to chain him, in the magical apartment. While she's down there, he carves the word "MINE" into the skin of her stomach. Her fear of Sebastian makes her work for him...for a while.

If you aren't comfortable with writing Sebastian doing these things to her, we can simply say that he beat her in a fight & then, afraid, she ran from him using mundane transportation. I only created this possible course of action because it, to me, seems very realistic considering his canon behavior & general personality traits.

PERSONALITY

Overall: Jas trusts few, due to how she was raised. She can count the number of people she'd trust with her life on one hand, yet in the past, she has forsaken her payment to save innocent lives. She has been forced to hone her independent and resourceful streaks, but she truly does love learning. Around most others, she tends to be blunt, judgmental, and stubborn, since she's not a fan of group work or for letting someone else mess up what she thinks she could do properly on the first try. She's happiest when she's using her brain to do something productive, or (on the rare occasion when) she feels safe enough to slow down & hang out with someone she trusts (like Magnus).

His wavy hair is typically level with his chin and is a copper color. His ears are pointed and pierced. BACKGROUND

Cathan is the “lost” Morgenstern child. He was born to Valentine and Jocelyn prematurely, so weak that hardly anyone thought he’d survive the night. His father had already promised his firstborn to the Seelie in exchange for magical secrets, so Valentine took the boy and gave him to the faerie messenger that night without regret. Jocelyn was told that her son had died and been sent to the Silent City. Meanwhile, Cathan was gifted to a couple Dáire [Daw-ruh] and Fiachra [Ph-yee-kra] by the Seelie Queen. Faerie have a hard time conceiving, so they were happy, especially since they’d received a present from their monarch. Though they loved him, Cathan was initially teased growing up, because everyone knew he was Nephilim. Being raised in the Faerieland gave him pointed ears and the ability to effortlessly wield fey magic. So, although he could use angelic runes, he never did. Instead, he learned to speak the way his new people did, and be beautiful and cruel all at once. The Queen, who occasionally checks on her “nephew”, praises him for his good looks and clever tongue. Sometimes she gives him pretty clothes, jewelry, and paints. He's a prince in every way but the one that matters.

(plot dependent) He learns about his siblings through his people’s gossip. Cathan isn’t sure if he wants to know them, but he does want to kill his Shadowhunter parents. At least, that’s his excuse for going to find them.

PERSONALITY

Overall: Cathan has learned to present himself as a faerie to most and conceal his true self for his lovers. This means that he is hedonistic (which his culture accepts), but he knows how to navigate conversations which typically involve as much small talk as they do veiled insults. He also is not above flirting to get what he wants. His biggest flaw is probably his feelings towards his “aunt”, the Seelie Queen. If, for example, someone insults one of his friends and/or entourage, he won’t acknowledge it in public. He might even laugh it off, because that’s what he’s learned to do, and then he’ll comfort the friend in private. In addition, if there’s a secret he learns, he’ll tell the Queen, because she’s shown him more love than even his parents have on some occasions. He gets exasperated by the whole act of being in public, though, and retreats to his hideaway to paint and relax with his lovers (he’s polyamorous, but he only has feelings for a select few). With them, he’s himself: compassionate, silly, delicate, submissive, and free.

History

She thinks her parents made a mistake when they called her a "gifted child". Jas was reading before she was two years old & inadvertently casting spells not much longer after that. She excelled in school--until she hit a wall. All of a sudden, anxiety & sadness became more familiar to her, leading to a few magical outbursts that forced her to switch schools at least twice. It took her years before she was able to figure out coping mechanisms. During that time, Jas enjoyed reading, singing & daydreaming when she wasn't in the company of her few friends. Her Black Dog, Wolfie, came to her when she was in her house's backyard & her parents were off fighting monsters. She looks forward to magic school, seeing it as an opportunity to learn to cast with a clear mind & to be more social (yes, she skipped a grade).

Jace is a 5'11" (1.8 m) young man. He has his father's handsome facial features & his mother's curling golden blond hair. His eyes were brown until his dealings with Victor, which turned them an eerie golden color. Though he has lighter skin, it's tanned from frequent work in the sun. His body is somewhat lean, yet toned. There's a few fading scars across his shoulders & torso, some of which are covered by tattoos of birds. He prefers to wear close-fitting, simple things that can easily fit under his armor for quick changes--like t-shirts, henleys, jeans, cargo pants, etc.

Personality

Those who do not know Jace well, especially those meeting him for the first time, often believe him to be arrogant, uncaring & generally rude. This is probably because he's about solving problems quickly by taking action rather than standing around & talking. Also, he doesn't talk to many people outside his family & small friend group unless they introduce him to others. He's not introverted; he doesn't put much effort into making friends. Those who know him know that Jace tries to hide his sadness behind snide remarks. These are different from the witty comments he usually makes. He's very loyal to those he loves, throwing himself into danger or even lying to them if he thinks it would keep them safe. He is always ready to play hero, partly because he feels like a weapon. Still, there's mischief, romance & passion in him if you manage to find it. He frequently dances between light & dark magic, unable to consciously choose one or the other.

History

He was stolen from his biological parents when he was a baby, to be raised by a man named Victor Meridian until he turned 10. Victor claimed to be his father, giving him food & a place to live, but he often cruelly tested the boy. Long story short, Jace was trained to fight monsters from a young age & he lived in isolation for a relatively long time. Victor also used experimental magic on him, which mostly just resulted in pain. Unbeknownst to him, he'd gain a connection to the god Apollo, but all that seemed to happen was that his brown eyes turned golden. Then, Victor faked his death, leaving enough clues for Jace to find his way back to his parents & their monster-slaying community. When he got older, he learned that those people used to be part of a radical cult led by Victor, one that sought to worship the gods, exterminate the faerie & do new magical experiments to enslave the monsters they'd usually hunt. While Jace continues to try & enjoy life among his people, he's constantly wondering when Victor will pop up again. He is rooming with his friend Alex, one of the Lexington twins (he's close with both) & he's gone on a few dates with the earth witch Christina by the 5th week of school. It's his first year in the school--he's just been moved up because of his age & skill.

Skills/Abilities

advanced hunting - he's better at physical fighting than casting spells (in fact, he has a problem doing the latter)

weapon summoning - Jace's sword comes out of him, as it's a part of his soul; when he's disarmed, he can "call" it back to him

slight enhancement - he tends to be stronger & faster than other hunters in his class, but it's not on an incredibly noticeable level

Hobbies

playing the piano - it makes him feel weirdly "close" to Victor, though he won't admit it. He has a favorite book of music.

Cathan is a tall (5'10") man in good shape for his age and height. He is toned due to frequent exercise. His skin looks pale, but he blushes darker than the average Human (if that even happens). His eyes are light green. His reddish-brown, wavy hair is typically level with his chin. He occasionally wears ear piercings, despite Imperial regulations. In his free time, Cathan loves to wear open or sheer shirts with flowing sleeves, low-waisted pants & things with ribbons…basically the exact opposite of his Imperial uniform.

PERSONALITY

Cathan has learned to present himself as a deadly, obedient soldier, even though that's hardly who he is. Thanks to his inherited Zeltron beauty & empathetic ability (which lets him manipulate & read emotions), he knows how to navigate conversations with amazing tact. He is also not above flirting to get what he wants or giving secrets to the enemy to survive another day. He's learned to hide his reluctance for violence enough to get through missions, though he'll choose diplomacy over fighting any day. After a while, he gets exasperated by the whole act of being "evil" and retreats to his hideaway to paint and relax with his lovers (he’s polyamorous, but he only has feelings for & trusts a select few). With them, he’s himself: compassionate, silly, delicate, submissive, and free. Because he was raised by non-Humans, he doesn't look down on them like most in the Sith Empire do.

BACKGROUND

He was born to the Human Sith Lord Acerbus & the Zeltran agent Jethra Felan. Lord Acerbus had bought Jethra's freedom when she was a slave on Hutta, thinking he could use her Zeltran beauty & empathetic power as assets in his pursuit of power. She served him well & the two secretly fell in love. However, when she became pregnant, it was made clear to him by his peers that he would lose his chance at being promoted to Darth if he continued his relationship with a non-Human & tried to raise her child. So, he had his doctor tell her the newborn died overnight & had another one of his agents take the child away. Baby Cathan was given to a Twi'lek couple on Corellia, who were told that they would receive a steady sum each year in exchange for raising the boy, giving him his father's old last name & sending him to Korriban when he came of age. Cathan's foster parents, combined with the fast-paced, perilous environment of the planet, taught Cathan how to lie, seduce, dance & run fairly early on in life. Then, mistaking his empathetic abilities as inherited from his Zeltron mother, they sent him to train in Imperial Intelligence rather than at the Sith Academy. Imperial training wasn't exciting for him until he realized how much power & praise were given to those who came out on top. Then he dived into his training, though he never completely got used to the idea of cruelty--he'd make his peers look stupid, for example, but he didn't ever want to torture spies or kill innocent people. He also didn't realize that he was Force-sensitive until he was on a mission & he telekinetically disarmed someone before he could raise his hand. Now, he's trying to figure out what he wants from life while following orders as usual.

FIGHTING STYLE

Cathan has been extensively trained in marksmanship, specifically with the blaster rifle. Because of this, he is most comfortable attacking from far away, usually with the element of surprise on his side. Even then, he has sharp reflexes, which aid him in sniping fast targets. In close quarters, he uses a vibroknife, a weapon that he prizes for its versatility. He is equally skilled with both backhand and normal techniques.

Even as she becomes famous, her go-to is t-shirts with cardigans, jeans & boots. When she's forced to look more professional, she wears blouses with nice pants, bracelets & wedge-heeled boots (dresses are rare). Background

She's loved reading her entire life. Reading has always meant going on adventures & daydreaming in a more solid, respectable fashion. Jas has also always loved the concept of love: finding things that make people happy, having friends who inspire laughter & eventually meeting someone even more beautiful, loyal & wonderful than the sunrise. Yeah, well, it took her a while to find some of that. Her parents have always had a loving marriage. They also pushed her to succeed in academia, to the point where she nurtured her perfectionist temperament & graduated with honors after skipping 2 grades. She also wasn't partying or dating, because it didn't come naturally to her. So when she met Eric Faulkner through a coworker, she thought she was lucky. He was handsome, intelligent, sexually adventurous & he really liked her. He even supported her when she decided to take time off from her wedding planning career, to write a steamy urban fantasy novel instead. Or so she thought. She's currently in the middle of a divorce, because he cheated on her with the aforementioned coworker. (Jas found out 7 months after their wedding, but it had been going on since they were dating, apparently.) Jas is an introvert. She spends lots of time with just a handful of people at once, disliking crowds due to her anxiety. Oddly enough, she loves modern rock music. Yaz stands at 5'3" (1.6 m). Growing up in the nobility gave her a healthy frame, and after she started training, she gained a good amount of muscular definition. She takes mostly after her late Chondathan mother, having dark green eyes, black hair, light brown skin, and a slender build. Until things went south, she wore her thick, textured hair in braids that fell to her shoulder blades. After the traumatic incident, Yaz cut her hair so it's typically in a few short braids that barely pass her ears. She wears light leather armor in brown and black that has metal shoulder plates and bracers, plus a hooded cloak and brown boots.

PERSONALITY

Jesanta started out as a happy, sweet girl who was welcoming to everyone. When her parents were killed in front of her, however, she curled in on herself, becoming extremely introverted. BACKGROUND

Chaotic Neutral; Trickster Rogue (Assassin): Since she was only fifteen when her parents, the leaders of the Corymrian House Longbrooke, were killed, those who became responsible for her sent her away to the Great School of Deneir. Because the school was so far from her home, it was thought that she could easily disappear. She was known as Jes Brooke to her peers. Years later, her guardians sent her to the University of Suzail, so she could finish her education, network, and become the head of the house. However, nightmares made it too hard to sit in a classroom, so she ran away to train as a Rogue. It wasn't too hard to get into the city of Baldur's Gate, where she planned to join up with the criminal organization known as The Guild. Instead, she ended up being taken under the wing of a drow rogue named Xare Coborel. Xare taught her how to defend herself, but told "Jes" to continue reading about history, hoping that the human girl would go back to Cormyr and her comparatively comfy life. Once Jes told Xare about how her parents died, though, Xare began teaching Jes how to kill. She even taught her how to harness her own psionic energy so she could create a Soulknife in case of emergency. The pair traveled for a time, sharing profits from their jobs. They always got their money through trading or keeping something their target used to own, because she thought people who got violent for money were despicable. Eventually, they worked their way up a chain of corrupt officials in Western Faerun and executed the person who had ordered the hit on the Longbrooke family. Now Jas, who goes by the drow name Yasbyrn Veldrin, travels alone, since Xare retired.

Background

Kaya Loren met Aquilon when she was teaching English & French to her Greek students, at the prestigious National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (UoA). She thought he, who claimed to be a Canadian tourist, was a little suspicious initially, with his tendency to pop up whenever she was lonely. She didn't even feel particularly motivated to date him, because the Québécois version of French was so different from her European French (he claimed to only speak a bit of English). He won her over with his romantic gestures, good listening, and warm laugh. & then he revealed who he was (besides his English fluency), once he sensed she was pregnant with his child. She was more irritated than shocked. He advised her to return to the US, where she'd grown up, near Camp Jupiter, so their daughter could be safe. Kaya complied. He never told her that she was a legacy/descendant of a demigod child of Hekate since the Greek and Roman demigods were being kept apart in the modern day. When Jupiter confronted him over nearly exposing the big secret, Aquilon replied that he'd only been visiting his brother Favonius, the West Wind (which wasn't a lie). Aquilon would go on to dote on his only demigod child, sending her her beloved Imperial Gold short-swords as well as the occasional letter. Jas loved getting to speak to both of her parents, as she did living at the camp. She's currently studying Psychology at the camp's university.

Personality

Jas is an introvert. She spends lots of time with just one or two people, whether they're studying for an exam or the next War Games. Her favorite activities (reading, swimming & sword-fighting) all tend to be those that don't involve a crowd. However, she likes playing Siege &/or the Gladiatorial Fights, as those events force her to think quickly if she's going to win. Speaking of, her self-confidence jumps from 10 to 0 very quickly. She tends to get deeply frustrated when a seemingly easy task is hard & she equates taking a break with failure. Because of this, she is a hard worker. She's also incredibly loyal and protective when it comes to her friends. This is where her fatal flaw comes in. Jas can spot an enemy's weakness quickly, but it's almost impossible for her to find her strengths. While making a plan, sacrificing herself would be more logical than simply retreating. & in a relationship, she might never believe that her significant other loves her unconditionally. Her fatal flaw is her lack of philautia (self-love).

Wayland family motto(s)

Note: this is pure fanon/HCs for my Nephilim OC in the Shadowhunter Chronicles, who is a Wayland.

The official family motto, is “Ipsi nos creare [We make ourselves],” made famous among Shadowhunters since Wayland the Smith had the words engraved in his forge. It’s both literal and figurative, referring to both the pride of the talented Wayland blacksmiths (who were often paid to make custom weaponry) and the agency they have over their own lives.

Jasmine’s father began training her to fight demons (and other species) after the Clave deemed him a traitor. Whenever she got tired or scared, he’d tell her, “Viam inveniam aut faciam [Find a way or make one]". This is a more aggressive version of Roman general Hannibal Barca’s famous words. It subtly refers to the Wayland talent of creation (which Jas later realized she possessed). It also embodied the fighting spirit that Jas’s father infused her with. Because he didn’t trust anyone, he knew that the two of them could never survive unless they fought to. And now, she's the last Wayland.

She makes herself. If she can't find a way, she'll make one.

They dragged Vaya into a van, knowing that she'd created a super-soldier formula for David Tech Inquiries rumored to give normal humans superpowers. Jasmine was later found hiding in the cabinets by someone her father had sent. She would spend the next years in boarding schools, driven and determined to learn what she needed to find her mom.
