"PRISONER WAVED A FAREWELL TO FAMILY," Toronto Star. March 11, 1913. Page 14. --- Wife and Baby in Corridor When He Was Sent Down Into the Cells. --- CASES IN POLICE COURT ---- Man Accused of Beating Wife Begs for Mercy, But Fails to Get Freedom. ---- Walter Heald, who pleaded guilty to stealing a quantity of jewelry from his employer, Thomas Cuff, was dismissed by Magistrate Denison to-day on the assurance of Mr. Cuff that he would take Heald back into his employ, and watch over him and see that he could get even with the game again.
"I shall discharge you," said the magistrate, "because the spirit evinced by your employer is so rare that it would be a shame to discourage it."
Solomon Siegel, accused of picking pockets, was committed for trial before a jury, and was let out on bail of $1,000.
Wife Complains. John Andrews' sobbing in the dock moved everyone in the court-room but Alice Andrews, his wife, who laid a charge against him for doing bodily harm to her.
"I worship my wife," cried Andrews, "and I don't know why I scratched her. She was nagging because I had taken a couple of drinks, and got me into a rage."
"I'll send you down for three days, and we will examine the case in the meantime."
Andrews clung to the rail, and begged the magistrate, the constables, and the prisoners not to torture him "down there." Both he and his wife are young, married not more than two years.
Arthur Francis, the young man who is accused of passing bogus checks on boarding house landladies, was committed for trial on the charge of forgery, and is remanded in Jail until his trial. During the time he was in the dock Francis was peering out the door of the court-room, where his wife and two-year-old baby were sitting in the corridor. Francis antics to catch the baby's eye, and his waving and kiss-throwing were pathetic in the extreme, and even the court-room constables, whose thundering "sit down!" greets any movement on the part of prisoners, were touched a little, and cleared a path for the baby to see through.
Only One Woman. There was only one sentence handed out in the Women's Police Court to-day, and that was to Bertha Jacobs, who was sent to the Mercer for three months, for keeping a house of ill-fame.
An unfortunate case is that of Alex McPherson, who pleaded guilty to vagrancy, and who was handed over to the Salvation Army. McPherson has been suffering from heart weakness for years, and came to this city two weeks ago from a farm district around Galt and Berlin, to find some relatives he thought were here. Now he wants to get back to the farms, and the Salvation Army will find him some work, to enable him to pay his way.
Domestic Trouble. "I married Henry Chapman five years ago," said Mrs. Mary Chapman. in giving her evidence in a case of non-support. "He gets drunk and he deserted me for three weeks-left me alone to feed twenty-three starving chickens."
"Do you want to go back to your husband?"
"Yes! I was married for life and not for five years!"
Chapman claims that his wife was always nagging at him, and the case was adjourned till the 18th.
Robert H. Wood was committed for trial on a charge of committing assaults on two little girls, four and six years old.
After being set up in the plumbing business by William Marshall, George Brown started signing his friend's name to notes and L.LO.U's and defrauded Marshall out of $13.50, for which Brown was given a month in jail.
"I bought him a horse and wagon," said Marshall, "and put him on to the game in the plumbing business. Then I began to receive notes with my name forged."
Preyed On a Woman. Three months in the Central Prison were given to Wilber Ryan, for being an inmate of a house of ill-fame kept by Mary Howard. The Morality Department put forward facts showing that Ryan was keeping the Howard girl, who is still quite young, for immoral purposes. The house was raided, the girl sentenced and frequenters fined.
Ryan lived at the house, and had no visible means of support beyond what money was earned by Mary Howard.
The Department's record shows that this girl had a baby a couple of years Lago, and that since then she has been identified with houses run by Ryan.
"Three months in Central," said Magistrate Denison," and hereafter an eye will be kept on you! We will look for further light on your life."

Melissa Chatzimanolakis and her brother, Anthony Chatzimanolakis, were born only 10 months apart. They were like twins who never left each other's side, she recalls.
[...]
Chatzimanolakis loved being an uncle and dreamed of building a future of his own. He planned to get married, travel to Greece with Melissa and start a family.
But those plans were cut short two weeks ago after Chatzimanolakis died on March 25 at Toronto South Detention Centre in what his family was told was a suspected drug overdose.
[...]
Melissa said her family, who are from Brampton, Ont., is devastated and furious that their loved-one died so suddenly while at the jail, and want answers around the circumstances of his death.
Adding to their grief is the fact that, the 30-year-old had been in need of necessary surgery that the jail did not facilitate, according to Chatzimanolakis's lawyer, Carmello Truscello.

International Panic Day
International Panic Day, celebrated on June 18, is a day when people are required to panic. Basically, the day is a mock holiday aimed at spreading awareness for mental health issues. No matter how calm you are as an individual, International Panic Day is the day to let out your fears and panic about your worries. Why? International Panic Day rather asks, why not?
History of International Panic Day
In prehistoric times, men used panic as a technique to hunt animals. Herds of animals would react in panic to unexpected loud sounds or visual effects, which would direct them towards cliffs and cause them to jump to their deaths after finding themselves cornered.
International Panic Day began as a kind of mock holiday with the intention of having a day when people could shake off their various reasons to panic. It is a day to sit back, calm down, and let the panic and stress flow through you.
While it may sound funny, panic is a serious topic. Panic disorder is a mental health issue that affects 2% of the population in some countries. Apparently, women are more likely to suffer from panic than men. The condition is treatable, more so when the person is aware of various healthcare tactics and lives a healthy lifestyle.
International Panic Day is seen in many countries as a day to raise and spread awareness about the issue of mental illness. Today, more than ever, people are undergoing a lot of mental stress and the day is aimed to encourage people to slow down, relax, and reach out for help without any hesitation. There is nothing to be shy of and only by talking about our problems can we get rid of them. Panic management has important practical usages in the emergency services and the armed forces of the world. International Panic Day is the perfect excuse to panic about everything there is to panic about and, in the process, reevaluate our priorities. Eliminate all the things that cause you stress and anxiety.
International Panic Day timeline
17th century The Anatomy of Melancholy
Robert Burton describes panic in his book, “The Anatomy of Melancholy.”
1849 The First Panic
The first anxiety attacks, in the history of psychological medicine, are reported by Ottomar Domrich.
1895 Freud on Panic
Freud writes a paper on the concept of anxiety neurosis from a psychoanalytic point of view.
1980 Panic Established
The concept of panic disorder is established by the development of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM)-III criteria.
International Panic Day FAQs
What is National Panic Day?
It is more of a mock holiday to spread the word about panic. The day stresses the importance of taking time off to relax and take the stress off our minds.
Why am I suddenly having panic attacks?
A panic attack is a rush of mental and physical symptoms that can come without any warning and very quickly, too. Anti-anxiety medication is suggested for such situations.
What does a panic attack feel like?
Doctors diagnosing a panic attack usually look for four of the following signs: trembling, sweating, shortness of breath, chest pain, nausea, a choking sensation, dizziness, numbness, and heart palpitations.
How to Observe International Panic Day
Practice breathing techniques
Take some time off to relax
Get help from a professional
Breathing techniques help decrease panic. Whether it’s just a few slow breathing exercises or an hour-long meditation that focuses on breathing, both can have a strong positive impact on mental health.
Taking a day off is underrated. Take time off work to relax. Go to your favorite coffee shop, spend the day reading your favorite book, spend time with friends, and more.
If you are struggling with panic and stress, reach out to a professional. If a counselor is too expensive for you, talk to a friend you trust or a family member and listen to their advice.
5 Facts About Panic That Will Blow Your Mind
‘Panic’ from Greek
Panic can be good
Panic! At The Disco
Panic people
Time of panic
The word ‘panic’ comes from the Greek word associated with the Greek shepherd god, Pan, who, according to Greek myth, enjoyed causing fear among people traveling in the forest.
Panic is the body’s response to threat as the release of stress hormones increases the heartbeat and flow of oxygen to the brain, which can help a person to respond appropriately to a threat.
Panic! At The Disco is a world-famous rock band created in 2004 led by American musician Brendon Urie.
According to the American Psychological Association, 1 out of 75 people have a panic disorder.
Panic attacks usually last from five to 20 minutes but their symptoms can remain for up to an hour.
Why International Panic Day Is Significant
Stresses the importance of panic
It spreads awareness about stress
It makes people feel better
As strange as it sounds, panic is a way to release stress. In other words, by expressing panic, you can feel more relieved.
Stress is one of the most common mental issues of today. This day is a great way to spread the word about stress and emphasize the importance of talking about it.
Talking about panic makes it a normal thing. This makes people who undergo panic attacks feel free to talk about it and not like they have to hide it.

"COMMISSION OPENS HEARING ON INTERNED COMMUNISTS," Toronto Star. September 29, 1942. Page 3. ---- Secretary of the Communist party in Canada (LEFT), and 12 other leaders met in the law office of J. L. Cohen (RIGHT) yesterday and notified R.C.M.P. that they would surrender themselves in a group, as all have been sought for two and a half years under Defence of Canada Regulations. The head of the Communist party in Canada issued this statement: "I and my associates have decided, in the interest of national unity, to appear voluntarily before the authorities so as to appeal against the internment orders which now prevent us from giving our full energy to strengthening the country's war effort." Their cases will appear before a board of appeal in Toronto Tuesday.
"TIM BUCK SEEKS FREEDOM AS TRIBUNAL SITS IN JAIL," Toronto Star. September 29, 1942. Page 3. ---- Party Secretary and 14 Others Are Heard in Appeal Arguments === COHEN IS COUNSEL --- The special board of appeal set up to hear the case of Tim Buck, general secretary of the Communist party, and 15 other Communist leaders began sittings in Toronto Jail today. Hearings are being held in a large room where once persons were kept who couldn't pay their debts.
Years ago when it was illegal not to pay a debt, persons owing money were taken to Don jail under a warrant and were confined to the room, where the hearing was held today They had to supply their own bedding and provide their meals while they "paid off their debt."
J. L. Cohen, counsel for the men held on internment orders after their surrender last Friday, said the case of Tim Buck would be heard first. The Communist secretary, although represented at the hearing by Mr. Cohen, was expected to address the commission personally and present arguments in favor of his immediate release.
The commission consists of Judge Donald Miller of Hull, Que, Prof. Charles Cochran University of Toronto and A. S. Simpson, Winnipeg labor leader.
Mr. Cohen said he had no idea how long the hearings would last and that it depended on how wide would be their scope. Such hearings were long at one time, but recently, when he argued the cases of the Hull internees, seven were held in one day and the men's release expedited.
In Good Spirits Scheduled to start the hearing at 10 a.m.. the commissioners were late in arriving and when they got there learned that their official court reporter was ill and would not be able to attend. Mr. Cohen offered the services of his secretary if no substitute could be arranged.
As the commission arrived, Tim Buck and his associates were exercising in the jail yard. All were reported in good spirits.
Hearings will be private. Detective Dan Mann of the Toronto police special branch: Corp G.. Archer and Constables Hogg and Spriggs of the R.C.M.P., will attend. Arrangements were being made for the commission to eat a special meal in jail.
One of the commissioners said: "The minister of justice asks that there be the least possible publicity."
Mr. Cohen arrived at the jail 20 minutes before the hearing was scheduled to begin and interviewed Mr. Buck.
In the past, hearings of this type were held in a city hall courtroom, but it was reported they were ordered held in the jail by the justice department, which it is said, wanted to avoid any demonstration by public appearances of the arrested men. There was no one outside the jail as the hearings started.

I don’t wanna give away too much but I think you guys are going to enjoy this one, even with its different ending.
Tumblr media
You knew you were playing a dangerous game.
Elias had been the captor of your heart for the last three years after you moved in with Quinn when you needed a change of scenery. Your older brother had to admit that he was surprised to see you in love with his teammate. But as you made Elias constantly smile till his cheeks hurt, Quinn knew that the Swede was in love too.
Yet one thing your brother never seemed to care for was that another one of his teammates had fallen for you too. Brock let his eyes hover on you for far too long to ever be seen as appropriate especially when you were in a relationship. Elias knew how his teammate felt about you and in all honesty he thought it was cute. There was something about it coupled with the fact that you clearly thought Brock was attractive.
Elias knew that you would never cheat on him but there was always something amusing about how you loved pissing Brock off. On the flight to Toronto you ended up between the two and as Elias fell asleep Brock teased you “you’re just his good little girl arent ya?” He joked letting out a laugh as you furrowed your eyebrows “I so am not!”
The argument continued on and as Brock thought he won, you knew that it was you who would win in the end “you okay älskling?” Elias mumbled as he watched you do your makeup “can you pick Brock last?” Your question made him smirk as his hand ran over your jaw hooking his fingers under your chin.
It made you smile as he was clearly considering it “and why would I do that?” He asked wanting to hear your reasoning “because you love me.” You quipped back making him laugh.
As he leaned down he kissed your lips “I’ll think about it.” What Elias didn’t know was that you had already convinced Jack and Quinn to do the same but instead with them you brought up the fact that they tried to stop you from dating Elias at the beginning. It was your perfect get out of jail free card for anything.
If Ellen were to find out the pure lengths the boys went to trying to stop Elias from going on a date with you. They would all be dead, especially now as your mom adored the love you held for your boyfriend. So it left you with the perfect thing to keep over the boys heads and now was the time that you were cashing it in.
Elias’ sigh brought you back to reality as he squeezed your shoulder “you ever think about him being our third?” His voice was barely over a mumble as he tapped your thigh motioning you to sit on his lap as he sat on your seat.
You forced your thighs together as you thought about it “he’s your teammate E.” You sighed as you shook your head.
Whilst you two had agreed on being open to the idea of a threesome, there was never someone you could find for the two of you. Brock was a logical option as you were both comfortable with him and that was easy to combine with the feelings he clearly had for you.
The boy smiled as he tucked your hair behind your ear “would you do it if he wasn’t?” The Swede pressed soft kisses against the skin of your neck “you know I only want you my love.” You groaned as you tried to get out of his grip “you know that you didn’t answer my question.” Elias squeezed the skin at your hips as he made you squeal.
He loved teasing you like that “I would want him to be our third then.” As you nodded it seemed the universe was set to taunt you as a knock came at the door “Elias you ready bro!” Brock complained as the Swede hadn’t responded to his messages.
Elias laughed as he saw your eyes go wide “yeah y/n is just finishing up.” You weren’t just finishing up, you weren’t even dressed yet “leave her she’s too slow!” You let out a scoff as you sat up “you asshole I’m not deaf!” It was now Brocks turn to laugh as Elias kissed your lips.
His hands were warm on your cheeks “see you later.” He mumbled pecking your lips before he left your room with you running your finger over your lips where his mouth left your smiling.
The draft came and went and before you knew it you were stood with Brock teasing him about what the boys had done “and you thought that Elias was in charge of me.” You laughed as you shook your head leaving Brock confused as he looked at you “is he not?” The blonde looked over you as Quinn and Elias were talking in the distance but the Swede was clearly more focused on the conversation that you were having.
Your lips formed a pout as you turned to see what he was talking about “you wanna know why you were drafted last?” You trailed off finally leaving him to gasp as he nodded figuring out what it was that you had done “well I think Elias over there wanted you to think he was listening to you.” Brocks words made you frown.
What you didn’t know was that as the American motioned to you to come closer to him your boyfriend was making his way over to you both “was told about how bratty you have been all week.” His rough voice made your cheeks turn red.
The pieces of the puzzle quickly found themselves connecting in your brain as your jaw went slack “was not.” You tried to protest as your hands formed fists “don’t lie to him älskling.” Elias clicked his tongue as he shook his head.
You didn’t know where you were meant to look “if I’m so bratty what are you gonna do about it.” You crossed your arms as you smirked thinking that you had beaten him “absolutely nothing.” Elias’ words made your face drop “but Brock here instead will make sure you are given exactly what you deserve.” He mumbled as he kissed the shell of your ear.
It was customary that Elias was physical with you yet Brock felt his mind run wild as he watched you both “he is?” Your thighs pressed together in an attempt to suppress the feelings you felt “only if you want me to.” Brock was quick to shake his head as he placed his hand on yours.
All of the worries that were once in your brain about Brock being a threesome partner for you two seemed to dissipate as you smiled merely sending him a nod. Elias was quick to kiss your head as he dug into his pocket and pulled out your key card before he slotted it into your hand.
You furrowed your eyebrows as Brock laughed “you want to be a good girl and go wait upstairs for us?” Elias tucked your hair behind your ear as they watched the gears turn in your mind “how do you want her?” As the question came to Brock it all but totally knocked the wind from his sails.
The way your eyes scanned his face brought him back to being that nervous boy who couldn’t talk to you without stumbling on his words “‘s up to you Brocky.” You smiled running your fingers over his shirt “on your bed.” The American sounded unsure of himself when he stood there trying to pick up on Elias’ body language.
Elias watched another player walk past you all “what do you want her in?” The Swede whispered to his teammate making the boys cheeks turn red “nothing.” Brock imagined it as his eyes practically undressed you themselves “älskling you hear him?” Elias turned his attention back to you as you nodded.
The boy pecked your lips as he smiled “you go upstairs and we will be there in a few minutes.” It should have been embarrassing the way you sped through there as you headed to the elevator. The teammates couldn’t help but laugh as they watched you send them one final glance before you were off “you sure you’re cool with this?” Brock knew that it was Elias who brought it up to him but the Swede was known for being possessive of you, and rightfully so.
You stared at your reflection in your mirror as you were in nothing but your underwear and heels “you getting cold feet?” You could hear them from outside the door as it reminded you that you were meant to be getting ready for them.
As you reached back to unclip your bra the door opened leaving you looking like a deer in headlights “älskling I had such high hopes for you tonight.” Elias sighed as he clicked his tongue “I’m sorry I-” you were cut off as he kissed your lips.
Brock stared in awe as you were in a black matching set with your black heels “you were meant to be in nothing.” Elias ran his finger over your bra strap “I know but.” You tried to protest but it was clearly no use with the boys “how do we punish her?” The Swede’s eyes sparkled with mischief.
Having all that power it made Brock almost go mad “want her on the bed.” You listened as you sat down and looked at the duo “put your head on the pillows.” Brock motioned to you to shift back as you nodded.
Elias went and sat on the chair that sat to the left of the bed “remember he’s in charge älskling.” The Swede did just enough to remind you that he was still there “god you don’t know how much I’ve been thinking about this.” Brock confessed as he dropped his knees to the bed.
His hands were rough around your ankles as he undid your heels “you have me now.” You whimper as he pushed your legs apart letting him get a full view of your covered soaked cunt “Petey said you been thinking about this?” Brock teased you as he kissed your thighs making sure that each had its fair share of attention before he made any effort to move closer to your core.
All you could do was nod as you bit your lip “wanted it so bad.” Again Elias knew you loved him, but you each had people you that you guys classified as your free cards that you could find attractive and admit it. His were mainly celebrities in the form of models or actresses, yours just so happened to be his teammate who was right in front of you.
Brock smirked as he blew air on your cunt as your body shook “shouldn’t make you wait then?” He joked as you nodded “lift those legs of yours f’me then.” Brock watched your hips push to the air.
He hooked his fingers into your waistband as he slid your panties over your legs before he let them drop to the floor “god.” The American felt his jaw drop as he heard Elias laugh “she’s a pretty fucking girl ain’t she?” The Swede smirked as he had a similar reaction when he first went down on you.
Your cheeks grew warm as you turned your attention to Elias “think you need to get a move on before she keeps on looking at me.” Your boyfriend taunted his teammate “you really are just a needy girl aren’t ya?” Brock let his hand lay flat as he hit your cunt.
You jumped at the feeling as your head turned back to him “Petey she’s fucking soaked.” Brock groaned as he ran his fingers over your clit “she tastes even better.” Elias going down on you and he was going to let Brock know how responsive you were “loves tugging at your hair when you get her at the right spot.” His words made you writhe as you brought your hands to your chest.
The American decided that he wasn’t going to wait any longer as he finally dropped his head between your thighs “fuck!” You groaned feeling his lips latch onto your clit “how good is he baby?” Elias didn’t often refer to you with English pet names but as you sat there all you could do was moan as you turned to see him watching intently from beside you both.
Brock slowed himself down as he found his pace when he slotted his fingers into your cunt. They were arched in an effort to go closer to your g-spot “don’t stop.” You pleaded as you grew used to how different Brock was.
You had Elias who was always pushing you to your limits but he did it by edging you and Brock, on the other hand, was treating you like his last meal as he didn’t know when he’d get this chance with you again. Moans escaped from between your lips as they mixed with your innocent gasps. All of it seemed to only encourage Brock further as he looked up to see you staring at him.
As your cunt clenched around his fingers you felt your legs begin to give out “shift up baby.” Elias’ tone was soft as he towered over you “gonna make me come.” You announced as you pushed your chest up using your grip on Brocks golden locks to help you as his groan sent shivers through your body.
Before you were thrown back against Elias who let your head rest against his lap. The boys looked between each other as Brock looked for the direction he was meant to go with. Yet when Elias shook his head it was you who complained “someone needs to learn that brats don’t get to come.” He squeezed your cheeks between his fingers as you let your lips form a pout.
Brock let his lips leave your clit with a pop “want to start apologising then pretty girl?” Your eyes were hazy as you clearly didn’t have a lot more brain power left in you “he asked you a question.” Elias mumbled as he pinched your nipples over the fabric of your lacy bra.
Your mind was blocked as his fingers rolled your sensitive bud between them “please.” You begged feeling Brock circle his thumb over your clit “think you can do better than that pretty girl.” Brock smiled as he shook his head.
Elias pulled your bra down by its straps letting his hands grip at your tits “want to come so bad.” You whimpered “so so bad.” Tears filled your waterline as your body shook.
The boys laughter taunted you “gonna be a good girl and make a mess f’me then?” Brock asked as you nodded repeatedly “want to be the best girl for you.” The words made both of their cocks strain against their shorts “let go for me then sweet girl.” As the words left the Americans lips he dropped his mouth back to your cunt as he thrusted his fingers into core.
Elias had a different idea as he pinched your jaw forcing you to stare at him “stick your tongue out.” His tone was soft but you knew he was being serious. So all you could do as nod as you listened “such a pretty little slut.” Elias grumbled watching your tongue roll out of your mouth.
Brock took the chance to look up as he watched saliva drop from his teammates mouth and into your own “fuck!” The American groaned as he watched the Swede smirk “keep it in your mouth until he lets you come.” Elias teased your nipples as he punched and tugged at the sensitive buds.
You moaned as your body began to shake “yes sir.” Even as your words were muffled it still went straight to their cocks. Brock continued to lap at your cunt until your thighs wrapped around his head “Brock you’ve got her fucking obsessed with you.” Elias watched the sight in front of him as he was in awe.
It finally came when your cunt burst letting waves of pleasure coarse through your body “look so fucking good like this älskling.” You couldn’t help but clench around Brocks fingers as Elias watched you swallow his spit “let the girl breathe Brock.” The Swede teased as he watched his teammate continue to finger you.
Brock looked up with an apologetic look as he pulled his fingers from your cunt “sorry.” He mumbled letting his lips leave your slit with a pop “c’mere Brocky.” You smiled as you motioned your finger in his direction as you sat up straight.
The look of your orgasm glistening on his chin made you feel wet all over again “think you should thank him for that.” Elias’ words were met with a nod as you took the first move to kiss Brock. The American was quick to melt to your touch as he swore he was dreaming.
Elias clearly had a similar opinion as him as he watched you both with a smile on his face “now you know the deal Boeser.” His voice made you pull away from the American as you turned to your boyfriend with a confused expression “only get her mouth.” Brock reiterated his words making you squirm in the process.
You knew it was stupid but even after all of this time you still adored the fact that Elias craved a certain level of ownership over you. You were his girl, and that was never going to change “this pussy is mine.” Elias smiled as he cupped your cunt making you almost fall into Brocks arms.
The boys were quick to reposition themselves as Elias stood over the bed and Brock was crouched over on his knees “hey pretty girl.” Brock cooed as he ran his fingers over your jaw “hi.” You smiled letting Elias grip at your hips from behind you.
The air that encapsulated the room was tense as Elias dragged his cock through your slit as he watched his precum mix with your wetness. It was like torture to the both of you “still such a needy girl even after her first one.” Brock teased looking like a school boy as he smirked “just loves being fucked like the cock hungry slut that she is.” Elias clicked his tongue as he pushed the head of his cock not your cunt.
He let out a hiss as your walls began to stretch to accommodate his size “don’t be afraid Brock you can fuck her mouth.” The Swede let his cock fully slide into you as he stopped for a moment when he bottomed you out.
The American was quick to fiddle with his belt as he began to pull his pants down letting his cock hit his pelvis “be a good girl and open wide.” He ordered as Elias took the chance to begin fucking you, quickly forcing your mouth open as your jaw grew slack.
Brock took his chance to slide his cock into your mouth as he moaned “ain’t she a good little girl?” Elias let out a grunt as you clenched around his cock at the compliment.
Your tongue swirled around Brocks cock when the boy gripped his hands around your hair forcing it into a makeshift ponytail “you’re such a lucky dude god.” Brock was beyond jealous as you looked up at him through your batted eyelashes.
Elias got the chance to have you everyday and he was no stranger in letting the American know that you were always waiting for him. It Elias had a big game then you would be on your knees in one of his favourite lingeries “you hear that älskling?” Elias taunted as he watched your ass bounce with each thrust that he sent into you.
All you could do was let out a muffled moan as you nodded “he thinks you’re fucking perfect.” Skin slapping against each other echoed on the walls was you didn’t know which side you should have been focusing on “she’s a heavenly from this side too.” It was clear that as Elias picked up the pace of thrusts he wanted to remind his teammate that he was only here because Elias let him be.
Brock nodded as he swore that you hollowing your cheeks out was going to be enough to make him come on the spot “made by the fucking gods.” Both boys hummed in agreement as Elias sent his fingers to your clit sending long moan from your lips.
You felt Brock’s grip around your roots tighten as he tugged at your hair “gonna make me come if you keep making those noises.” The American warned as you felt your cunt clench at the thought of his release.
It seemed that Elias wasn’t too far behind you either as he felt his cock throb “want to be a good girl and taste his come before I make a mess in your pretty pussy?” His accent was accentuated by the last phrases as you began to nod bobbing your head almost nonstop.
The American took it as his green light “don’t stop god.” He gritted out as he body stumbled as his release coated the walls of your mouth practically sucking the life from Brock as he rode out his orgasm “fuck!” The boy groaned sliding his cock out of your mouth before he replaced it with his thumb that collected any of his release that had seeped from between your lips before depositing it back into your mouth.
Your tongue swirled around his finger “you keep squeezing my cock like that and I’m gonna end up with a fucking baby inside of you.” Elias warned as he was painfully close “wanna milk your cock.” You got the words out before you went back to sucking his teammates thumb “do it älskling.” It wasn’t often that he would just let you come like this and you weren’t going to let this opportunity pass you by.
It was quick that your eyes began to roll back into your head as a flurry of incoherent whimpers came from your lips “keep hugging my cock like that.” As his fingers strummer against your clit like it was a guitars strings the coil that built up in your stomach snapped.
Causing your arms to shake as your body grew unstable “fucking so good.” Elias grunted as he finally came letting your release mix with his whilst his cock continued to help you ride through your orgasm. The air in the room came tumbling down as your lips lost Brocks thumb letting a string of your saliva break from your lips as it followed him. And if you were fully cognitive you would have sworn you saw his eyes sparkle as he watched it.
Elias let his cock slide out of your throbbing cunt as he kept his hand around your waist to stop you from collapsing onto the bed “how you feeling älskling?” His voice was soft as he kissed your temple “so good.” Your blasé state made him laugh as he set you on the bed softly.
Brock was fascinated by his friends softer expressions as the boys truly never thought that aftercare would be something that Elias would be so good at “bath, shower or bed?” The three options were all you usually wanted after sex and all of them always had Elias in them “bath.” You nodded reaching for the blanket that was next to you as your skin craved warmth.
It was the way that you and Elias worked so well together that served as a dagger to Brocks heart. He knew you weren’t his but it was having to see you with someone else that suddenly got all too much for him “I should head out.” Brock announced as he reached to pull up his boxers.
A frown found its way onto your lips as you nodded trying to understand his choice “you were good.” Your compliment made a smile form on his lips “you were too pretty girl.” Brock kissed your head as he watched Elias scoop you into his arms “see you tomorrow dude.” The boys sent a look of goodbye to each other and whilst Brock went out your door Elias carried you into the bathroom.
He scanned your face to see if anything was up as you stayed silent “what’s going on in there?” Elias asked as he kissed your cheek “thank you for letting me do that.” You mumbled as your fingers gripped the blanket now craving a warm bath instead.
It made Elias smile as you enjoyed your night “maybe it doesn’t have to be the last time?” He proposed as you nodded, oh if only he knew just how wrong he’d be.
The last few weeks had your heart feeling hurt. When you came back to Vancouver Brock promised that things wouldn’t be weird but after three weeks of him totally avoiding you and trying his best to avoid any activities beyond training and games with Elias. You both began to see how the American was drifting.
Thankfully Quinn didn’t come to any conclusions as he finally thought that Elias had enough of Brock’s long looks in your direction. Elias did his best to help you not feel guilty about what happened as you blamed yourself for him losing his friend. Yet eventually you both came to terms with the fact that there was nothing either of you could do about the radio silence from Brock beyond simply waiting.
It was a cold day in Vancouver as rain had been pouring the entire morning “I’ll be back in a bit!” You called out as you had been looped into a Pilates class with some of the other wags “have fun älskling.” Elias smiled as he pecked your lips before he went back to his phone enjoying the fact that the boys were having a late practice today.
You did your normal routine as you walked down to your car but before you got the chance to unlock your door your phone started going off “what the.” Your eyes went wide seeing Brocks contact appear on your screen.
Before you let the chance pass by you, you answered the call “Brock what the hell has been-” you went to lecture him but was cut off as his grunt echoed in your ear “fuck y/n.” He groaned as he looked down to where his hand wrapped his cock when he picked up his pace.
Silence filled your mouth as you were almost shocked at what was going on “keep thinking back to that day and I wish it was your pussy I fucked instead of your mouth.” Your leggings stuck to your skin as you forced your thighs together almost surprised that he was even admitting this to you.
The sound of his hand hitting his skin was barely audible in the speaker but you still knew what he was doing “god Petey doesn’t deserve you.” You felt dirty feeling so turned on by Brocks actions as you stared at your keychain that had the little E on it.
But before you could say anything more the line went dead leaving you with a decision you knew you shouldn’t be making.
Do you want to send this message to ‘The WAGS 23/24’?
you: hey girls I can’t make it today, something came up.

"Canadian shoppers may be more willing to admit that they've stolen from grocery stores lately, whether in defiance of corporate greedflation or out of sheer necessity amid an only partially-explicable spike in food prices, but the fact remains that shoplifting is illegal — and landing a charge could spell big, big trouble.
But it doesn't necessarily have to ruin your life, according to one local legal professional who will defend anyone arrested for stealing food from grocery stores pro bono (as in for free) right now.
Licenced paralegal Frank Alfano, whose firm represents people all over the Greater Toronto Area, published an Instagram post earlier this week that is as much of a public service announcement as it is an advertisement for people seeking legal help.
"Criminal convictions have many serious consequences such as jail time, a criminal record, not being able to travel to America, not being able to get some jobs and more," reads the caption of that post.
"We understand that it is difficult to deal with criminal charges by yourself... We offer legal services for criminal offence summary convictions as regulated by law society of Ontario. To qualify for free representation this must be your first offence, the value of the goods must be less than $5,000, and it should be in the GTA area."
The post displays an image of someone stealing food with the text: "You do not deserve a criminal record because you wanted to feed yourself or your family!" — a sentiment Alfano believes in strongly."

Although I understand that Julia's departure is either the typical mm resolved in 2 episodes arc or a way for Helene Joy to pursue other projects, it comes off as another example of lack of planning when it comes to Julia's arc.
The writers have a history of making Julia flit from thing to thing regardless of how it fits into a cohesive arc at times: In s5, Julia works at private clinic where her fight for women's autonomy is so important to her that she goes to jail and risks her husband's job, only to switch to psychiatry because it randomly strikes her fancy later in the same season; in s9 when Julia leaves psychiatry by happenstance one day because Emily left & the morgue's replacement couldn't come; in s17 when she opens Women's College Hospital, the only women's hospital in all of Toronto where she provides vitally important healthcare, only to leave suddenly 5 episodes later because a job where she could educate women doctors became available (when she already canonically did so in Toronto offscreen in s10).
I know Murdoch mysteries is not the show to look at for cohesive character arcs, but it's a bit more frustrating for me with Julia because her job changes so much (instead of just moving up or down the same ladder like the other characters) and it's often done in one episode with no buildup but majorly affects the plot of the show for a long time

Saturday linkdump, part the sixth
Tumblr media
On September 12 at 7pm, I'll be at Toronto's Another Story Bookshop with my new book The Internet Con: How to Seize the Means of Computation.
On September 14, I'm hosting the EFF Awards in San Francisco.
Tumblr media
I usually write this blog 5-6 days/week, but every now and again, I take a break, and when I do, I get massive link backlogs of stuff I want to write about, but lack the time to address in depth. When that happens, I turn my Saturday edition into a linkdump. Today, I present the sixth in the series – here's the other five:
https://pluralistic.net/tag/linkdump/
Why was I offline and away from my blog? I went to the dirt rave. Yes, I was one of the 70,000+ people stuck in the mud at this year's Burning Man, and when I emailed my editor at the New York Times to say I might be late on the op-ed I was working on, she asked me to write about what this year's mud crisis meant:
https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/06/opinion/burning-man-flood-playa-climate-change.html
tl;dr:
Bad weather is normal at Burning Man (it's a feature, not a bug);
Mostly burners leapt to the occasion, which is what people almost always do in disaster situations;
This is the second Burning Man heavy weather year in a row;
The climate emergency is tipping the Black Rock Desert from "extremely challenging" to "impossible";
This isn't the last event, place and tradition that will have to be radically reconsidered in light of the climate emergency;
But now I'm home, in my hammock, with all the laundry done – just in time to leave again. I'm about to head back to my hometown of Toronto for a book launch. The Internet Con, my latest nonfiction (from Verso Books) came out last week, and I'll be appearing at Another Story Bookshop on Tuesday:
https://anotherstory.ca/events/29283
Internet Con is a "Big Tech disassembly manual." It explains how Big Tech got so big (lax anti-monopoly enforcement, which led to regulatory capture, which let Big Tech abuse our privacy, labor rights, and consumer rights), and how we can use interoperability so it's no longer Too Big to Fail, nor Too Big to Jail:
https://www.versobooks.com/products/3035-the-internet-con
You can read a long excerpt from the book in Wired, which lays out some of the shovel-ready legislative, regulatory and technical proposals that are the book's main purpose:
https://www.wired.com/story/the-internet-con-cory-doctorow-book-excerpt/
You can also hear me read the whole introduction and first chapter of the audiobook on my podcast:
https://craphound.com/internetcon/2023/08/01/the-internet-con-how-to-seize-the-means-of-computation-audiobook-outtake/
That comes from the audiobook, a DRM-free, independent edition that I financed, produced and narrated myself. You can get the audiobook everywhere except Audible, Apple Books, and Audiobooks.com, all of which have mandatory DRM policies. You can also get it direct from me:
https://transactions.sendowl.com/products/78992826/DEA0CE12/purchase
The DRM-free ebook is available everywhere ebooks are sold (Kobo, Kindle, Nook, etc), as well as in my own DRM-free ebook store:
https://transactions.sendowl.com/products/78992801/9C4FC2B8/purchase
Verso's books are sold in bookstores around the world; you can support your local bookseller by buying it through Bookshop:
https://bookshop.org/p/books/the-internet-con-how-to-seize-the-means-of-computation-cory-doctorow/18771891?ean=9781804291245
If you'd like a signed copy, there's stock at Book Soup:
https://www.booksoup.com/book/9781804291245
Now, it was inevitable that I would do a book event for Internet Con in Toronto – I've never had a bad event there, and I love my hometown – but the timing of this event was driven by a non-book-related factor. Talking Heads is appearing together at TIFF, to support the re-release of Stop Making Sense, the greatest concert film in human history:
https://pluralistic.net/StopMakingSense
People often ask me what my favorite book is, and I always tell them that you should never trust people who have one favorite book, as it inevitably turns out to be The Bible, The Fountainhead, or Mein Kampf. But while I don't have a favorite book, I have a clear and unambiguous favorite band.
If I was forced to listen to no music other than Talking Heads for the rest of my life, I would be perfectly happy. Ecstatic, even. Throw in David Byrne, Tom Tom Club and Casual Gods and I probably wouldn't even notice anything missing.
There's a running joke among my Burning Man campmates that whenever I'm in charge of the music, I'm just shuffling Talking Heads rarities, and whenever someone puts on anything else, I demand to know which Talking Heads album it came from. Which is all to say: I have tickets for the Talking Heads event at TIFF and I could *not be more excited.*
Continuing on the Canadian theme, one of the annual highlights of Canadian media is the Massey Lectures, a series of public lectures given around the country and rebroadcast on CBC. These are always great, but recent years have been superb – Ron Deibert's 2020 series was unmissable:
https://pluralistic.net/2020/11/10/dark-matter/#citizenlab
This year's Masseys are shaping up to be the GOAT. They're presented by Astra Taylor, an activist rock-and-roller turned documentary filmmaker who is one of the founders of the Debt Collective, fighting for student debt cancellation. Everything Astra does is amazing and her profile on CBC Ideas gives some background on the role that unschooling played in making her the powerful activist she is today:
https://www.cbc.ca/radio/ideas/astra-taylor-interview-2023-massey-lecturer-1.6959320
There's no question that things are messed up right now, but Astra and people like her shine out like beacons of hope. 17 years ago, self-described "democracy nut" Tom Stites gave one of the seminal lectures on the role news media play in democracy:
http://citmedia.org/blog/2006/07/03/guest-posting-is-media-performance-democracys-critical-issue/
17 years later – and from his perch as editor at the essential International Consortium of Investigative Journalists – Stites presents us a long-overdue, extremely pertinent followup: "Building Civic Energy is the Goal, Not Saving Old News Business Models":
https://banyanproject.coop/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Hope-College-speech-for-Banyan-website-1.pdf
Stites's intervention is extremely timely, because policymakers all over the world have made the mistake of thinking that Big Tech is stealing the news media's content, which is absolutely untrue. It is good, actually, to index news stories and let people discuss, quote from and link to news stories. News you're not allowed to talk about isn't news, it's a secret.
But Big Tech is stealing from news. They're not stealing content – they're stealing money. The Google/Apple duopoly rakes 30% off every subscription payment collected in an app. The Google/Meta duopoly rakes 51% out of every ad-dollar (and maintain that death-grip through creepy, privacy-invading surveillance ads). Meta and Twitter hold social media subscribers hostage, forcing publishers to pay to reach their own subscribers.
We don't want the news to be Big Tech's partners – we need them to be Big Tech's watchdogs. "Link taxes" and other profit-sharing arrangements between the media and tech cut against the civic energy Stites wants to build.
(You can read more about this – along with policy prescriptions for halting Big Tech's rent-extraction from the news – in "Saving the News From Big Tech," my EFF white-paper:)
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2023/04/saving-news-big-tech
If your spirits are lifted by stories of principled activists achieving important – and improbable – victories, you could do worse than to attend the EFF Awards on in San Francisco Sept 14 (I'm the emcee). This year, we're honoring Alexandra Elbakyan for her founding of Sci-Hub, the Library Freedom Project and the Signal Foundation:
https://www.eff.org/awards/effawards/2023
In more activist news: Mozilla produced a startling and astoundingly good – if demoralizing – report on the state of digital privacy and security in the automotive sector:
https://foundation.mozilla.org/en/privacynotincluded/articles/its-official-cars-are-the-worst-product-category-we-have-ever-reviewed-for-privacy/
Entitled, "It’s Official: Cars Are the Worst Product Category We Have Ever Reviewed for Privacy," the report reveals just how absolutely terrible the automotive sector is when it comes to privacy practices, collecting (and selling) (and giving away) information about your sex life, your geneology, your genetic characteristics, and your smell (no, seriously).
Their recommendations for which new car you should buy boil down to "don't buy a new car." I have been urging consumer research groups to release a report like this for a decade. There are whole categories of gadgets – like, say, "smart speakers" – that are unsafe at any speed. At a certain point, reviewers need to have the guts to say that every manufacturer in an entire sector is a dumpster fire and they should all be dragged in front of a firing squad – or at least a Congressional committee.
Cars, after all, are nightmares of privacy invasion and rent-extraction, the source of autoenshittification on a massive scale, a mobile form of technofeudalism:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/07/24/rent-to-pwn/#kitt-is-a-demon
The fact that cars score so badly on privacy is especially ironic given the campaign Big Car waged against the 2020 Massachusetts Right to Repair ballot initiative, in which car manufacturers held themselves out as the defenders of driver privacy from unscrupulous third parties who couldn't be trusted to handle the vast troves of data your car collects with every hour that God sends:
https://pluralistic.net/2020/09/03/rip-david-graeber/#rolling-surveillance-platforms
This is a familiar refrain: monopolists often claim that any check on their absolute authority over their users will expose those users to privacy risks. Apple has run a global ad-campaign claiming this, and while Apple does prevent Facebook from spying on iPhone owners, they also secretly spy on those customers in exactly the same way that Facebook used to, and lie about it:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/11/14/luxury-surveillance/#liar-liar
It turns out that giant companies just aren't good proxies for their customers' interests, and that the power they amass through monopolization shouldn't be counted on as a source of user safety. Monopolists won't reliably defend user privacy – that job belongs to democratically accountable regulators. That's an argument I developed in detail with Bennett Cyphers in our EFF white-paper "Privacy Without Monopoly":
https://www.eff.org/wp/interoperability-and-privacy
That is, rather than getting privacy by "voting with your wallet," you need to get it by voting with your ballot. "The market" is an election that you vote in with dollars, which means that the people with the most dollars always win. When there are zero cars on the market that are safe to drive, you can't vote with your wallet by buying a good one.
On a related subject, the DOJ Antitrust Division has brought the most important tech anti-monopoly case of the century, charging Google with monopolizing search:
https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/06/technology/modern-internet-first-monopoly-trial-us-google-dominance.html
Part of the DOJ case turns on the fact that Google goes to extraordinary lengths to keep you from every trying another search engine, paying out more than $45 billion every year to be the default search on every device, program and service you might use. In other words, Google spends entire Twitter's worth of dollars every year, lighting it on fire to keep you from finding out about rivals.
Google argues that this is fine, actually, because these are only defaults, and users can dig through their settings to change their search engine. Sure, Google – and the first 20 search results you serve are only defaults, and it wouldn't matter if you were ordered to put them ten screens down, because users could always scroll to see them.
But search defaults aren't the only way that Google locks in searchers – and then harms us by invading our privacy. Google's ubiquitous Chrome browser ties Google's search to Google's invasive, nonconsensual, total surveillance. Chrome turned 15 this year and Google made a huge PR splash out of the anniversary:
https://blog.google/products/chrome/google-chrome-new-features-redesign-2023/
But all that puffery conspicuously failed to mention that Google had quietly rolled out its long-discredited, new surveillance technology, FLOC, which it pretended to kill in 2021:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/04/22/ihor-kolomoisky/#not-that-competition
FLOC is back, rebranded as the Topics API: this is a system for spying on you so advertisers can target you. Google is spinning this as a privacy improvement because it might someday replace "third party cookies," one of the creepiest web surveillance systems.
But as Ron Amadeo writes for Ars Technica, Chrome is the last major browser to support third party cookies – both Safari and Firefox block them by default. So Google is basically saying, "We are going to improve your privacy by changing how we spy on you, even though all our competitors don't do this kind of spying at all":
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2023/09/googles-widely-opposed-ad-platform-the-privacy-sandbox-launches-in-chrome/
This kind of gaslighting, where Google pisses in all our mouths and tells us it's raining, is the hallmark of a decrepit, arrogant, crapulent monopolist that needs to be shattered in the courts. Kudos to the DoJ for doing the people's business here – and kudos to DoJ antitrust boss Jonathan Kanter for promising that he will not go into corporate law when he finishes his stint in government.
The DoJ isn't the only public agency that's serving the American people. The FCC just announced proceedings to force cybersecurity labels for "smart" devices:
https://www.fcc.gov/consumer-governmental-affairs/fcc-proposes-cybersecurity-labeling-program-smart-devices
This is long overdue, and it's a welcome action from the FCC, which was hamstrung for years because cowardly Democratic senators joined with homophobic, libelous Republicans in blocking confirmation hearings for the amazing Gigi Sohn:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/12/15/useful-idiotsuseful-idiots/#unrequited-love
After years of abuse, Sohn bowed out. Now, Anna Gomez has been confirmed to fill that fifth FCC chair, turning the FCC into a fully operational battle station:
https://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/senate-votes-approve-anna-gomez-5th-fcc-commissioner
The fact that there's all this great stuff going on in the administrative branch is easy to lose sight of amidst the circus of federal electoral politics, in which Donald Trump has retained his role as ringmaster and chief distractor.
Thankfully, we have expert Pantsless Emperor skewerers like Ruben Bolling around – his latest Tom the Dancing Bug revives his brilliant Calvin and Hobbes-inspired Trump gag:
https://boingboing.net/2023/09/06/tom-the-dancing-bug-a-calvinesque-and-hobbesian-look-at-taking-a-mug-shot.html
Well, that's me signing off for the weekend – I've got to pack for my flight to Toronto. If you're looking for more weekend fun, check out the trailer for Fractured Veil, the video game my old pal Chris DiBona has been working on for seven years and which is heading for Steam early access next month:

Just watch it. I mean. Wow.

Content warning for descriptions of institutional violence and murder.
After a coroner's inquest ruled Soleiman Faqiri's 2016 death at the hands of Ontario jail guards was a homicide, his family hopes to use a Saturday evening vigil to move forward from the nearly seven years they spent fighting for the truth.  Held at Toronto's Yonge-Dundas square Saturday, the seventh annual vigil for Soleiman will be the last, said his brother, Yusuf Faqiri.  Soleiman died shackled, pepper sprayed and covered with a spit hood while face down on a cell floor in the Central East Correctional Centre in Lindsay, Ont. He was also repeatedly struck by guards, who carried out 60 policy breaches in his death, as revealed during the inquest.
