ah, i love them so much. have never thought how these two would hang out, so this is gonna be fun!

"Give that back."

She looked at her as they both halted, looking kind of surprised with her request. "Give what back, darling?"

The other sighed in annoyance, she didn't know how much patience she had left in her. "The Sol Emerald, Rouge. I can sense them you know. You just stole one from me."

Visiting Sonic's world was always a delight, often hiding tons of surprises. And this trip did not differ at all. She wouldn't miss Amy's birthday party for the world (or the cake, since, in this dimension, they were absolutely delicious) but for a moment, she thought that was all there was. That this was just a birthday party. Amy's request to have them wear specific outfits seemed oddly specific but she supposed that this was how birthday parties worked in this world. Not that she ever had a proper, informal birthday party herself in her own kingdom, so how should she know? She was just following the request; disappointing Amy, no less on her birthday, was something she would despise to do. However, not much to her surprise, the party turned out to be something entirely different; a Mystery Game.

That didn't exactly make sense to her at first but she accepted it of course. Her friends seemed to like the idea so maybe she had to try it first before drawing a deduction. Sonic in particular was very excited about it and even explained to her how this was supposed to go, before getting wrapped up in a conversation with Vector. Her remaining quaries were answered by Amy herself. Like, the question of where she would be stationed.

She wasn't expecting to be partnered with Rouge. It made sense, given their 'lore cards', for both of them to be in the casino station, but she wasn't expecting it. Indeed, Sonic's world was full of surprises. Rouge didn't seem bothered by that, by the fact they barely knew each other or that she was a fire-weilding princess that could set her on fire any time of the day. On the other hand, she had a lot of thoughts regarding the matter. If anything, Rouge wasn't a complete stranger to her, which made things much harder to handle. They weren't friends, not really, but they weren't stangers either. And she could handle the latter group just fine, she'd practiced it lots of times in her own kingdom. But something in-between? Yeah, she definitely had her reservations about it.

If anxiety took the best of her as they were together, trying to find the best way to handle their social situation, she managed to hide it pretty well.

"'Steal', is a very strong word, Blazey. I'd prefer the term 'borrow'." Rouge crossed her arms as she smirked at her.

"Using the word 'borrow' explicitly states that you would return it eventually." Blaze countered, mimicking her actions while also raising a brow at her, almost in a challenging manner. "Would you?"

"Eventually." she winked. But at Blaze's unimpressed expression, her smirk faltered. "What?"

The cat only raised her palm as a response, standing perfectly still otherwise, still maintaining her poker face and really giving Rouge a run for her money.

"You're no fun, you know that?" Rouge let her arms fall.

"I know." Blaze smiled. "Now, the Emerald please?"

Rouge pouted, before taking the cyan-colored gem out of her glove to admire it, even for one last time. "Well, it was worth a shot."

"It definitely was." Was her reply as she got tossed the Sol Emerald, catching it without any problem. Rouge still aproached her immediately after that, holding her by the shoulder. That earned her a side-glance but she went on unbothered.

"Want to make this actually fun?" Rouge grinned at her, almost deviously, like she was planning something.

Blaze brushed her hand off and started walking again. "I don't think your idea of fun matches with mine." She simply stated. And while it was true, she had a feeling of what Rouge might be suggesting and she wanted to avoid getting entangled in such a case.

"Aw, come on, darling, what are we supposed to do for the next few hours?" she grabbed her by her shoulder again to make her stop.

"Follow Amy's request and keep her happy on her birthday party?" Blaze said with a perfectly even voice, trying not to sound too annoyed.

"That, but also, this is a party, so we can have fun at the same time." she blew her a kiss playfully, giggling at how Blaze scrunched her nose in response.

"Alright." She rolled her eyes. " What do you propose we do?"

"Hmmm...we could..." she tapped her finger on her chin while staring at the ceiling, trying to come up with an idea, "...search for the secret treasure of this train?"

Of course she didn't come up with this right now. "Secret treasure?"

"Well, yes!" She exclaimed, clearly excited. "Actually, I'm sure there are a lot more than just one lying around here, so you can also practice your 'treasure hunting' skills while we're at it!"

"Treasure hunting skills?" Blaze knew Rouge referred to herself as a treasure hunter but if said skills were the ones used to take the Sol Emerald away from her, then she doubted that they both understood the concept of treasure hunting in the same way. "You mean, you want me to steal something for you?"

"Find a treasure." She emphasized, as her hand flew to her face to massage her temples. "Man, it's so obvious that you hang out too much with Sonic. But even he knows to let loose from time to time."

Rouge noticed the blush on her cheeks and she smirked but managed to compose herself and not make any snarky comment about that. Maybe some other time. "Besides," she added, "we could do it by your own rules and return the treasure afterwards. I'm sure you'll be fine with that."

She was fine with that but she didn't know if she should be. If it was right to search the train and steal someone's property just to return it back not long after. Rouge's scrutinizing gaze, accompanied by her confident and smug smirk was all she needed to make her decision, even though she felt like this wasn't a choice she had a say in to begin with.

There was something behind that smirk, behind her expression that felt weirdly familar. Blaze couldn't exactly pinpoint what it was but it was a rare occurence that this ever happened to her, that she found a person whose mannerisms reminded her of someone else's, without her being able to name the other person.

With a sigh, she gave up, giving Rouge her first win against her. "Fine, let's see how treasure hunters enjoy themselves."

Blaze did really have fun that day, even if she hadn't expected it at first.

She snorted at the thought. Full of surprises.

(This'll probably be the last 06 ask bc I've already talked about it a lot, unless you want to hear more) Something I really like about 06 that no other game does is the fact that each level has at least 2 different sections with their own unique tracks, it's a great way to have the same levels gone through across multiple stories, since it strikes a pretty good balance of them feeling similar yet different. The most interesting example to me is Crisis City, which has 5 sections total. Section 1 is where Sonic and Shadow start, Sonic goes through the whole thing on a snowboard while Shadow goes on foot or can drive his buggy. Section 2 is the skyscraper section, which is the same for both of them, and which Blaze also goes through but in reverse in Silver's version of the level. Section 3 is the whirlwind, which is a platforming section for Sonic but a glider section for Shadow. Section 4 is a long highway where Sonic's mach speed section with the tornado takes place, so only he visits it. Section 5 is fascinating because it's where Silver begins and ends, it has two distinct areas. Shadow goes through both of these areas after clearing his section 3, first he goes through the beginning bit like normal, rides some rails around the tornado (which are unique to his version of the level), and then goes through Silver's ending section in reverse. The very hard mode version of Shadow's level does even more interesting stuff, replacing the glider section in the whirlwind with a platforming section where you play as Rouge, and adding Sonic's highway, where you get to ride down it on his motorcycle. Anyways, sorry for the super long ask, I'm just very passionate about the game and think about it a lot

YESS YESSS i've heard the level design in 06 is really good! i didn't realize there was that much to it because i. haven't played it BUT still very cool especially when it's used across multiple stories/paths. there should be more motorcycle sections tho (<- guy who just likes shadow's motorcycle)

Time for my long overdue post of.....

If the Sonic Villains were in The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog instead of the game cast!

[ This is just for the funsies, so don't take it too seriously ]

Don't ask me why or how they all manage to get on this train and do a murder mystery, but they somehow did.

I don't have much idea of what everyone's roles are, but I know Clutch probably has a role similar to Rouge & Blaze (business tycoon stuff)

and Surge & Kit are the "Neutral Party." Surge is the Chaotic Reporter & Kit is the Detective that is desperately trying to keep Surge from eletricuting everyone & stuff.

Now, before you ask, yes. Yes, the train still goes with the plan of taking these guys to Eggman because it's the conductor's last day and the train is desperate.

[ Maybe some villains that Eggman wants dead would be enough to get my wish! ]

So yeah, the train speeds up and then slows down. Barry, Surge & Kit, break out of the closet to find Starline "dead," and the mystery begins!

Rough & Tumble got too busy playing Super Monkey Ball in the saloon car and forgot why they're here (chaos forbid they find the casino car).

Whoever plays the role of Locksmith trapped Infinite in the libary car.

You find him scratching and whining at the exit door like a dog. You literally have to pry him off the locked door in order to find out what he was doing during the hour.

You all exit through the secret passage and move on.

Clutch is the one that drags you into stealing the Fabrege Chao Egg in the Casino Car.

Team Hooligans, despite all their roles being in different cars, meet up and joined Clutch in his search for the Egg.

The moment it starts ticking, Fang tries to make a run for it like the coward he is. Also, Bean would so do all the crazy things you suggest. /lh

Once you all find out about the treasure in the egg, it's an everyone for themselves fight over it.

Zavok is a little confused by this all being a game, but he tries his best to play along because there isn't much else to do.

Everyone thinks it's Mimic.

Mimic was alone the entire hour and therefore doesn't have that much of an alibi. It's not Mimic, he wasn't alone because he was "killing" Starline, no he was alone because he doesn't like social gatherings and got dragged onto this train kicking & screaming like an upset child.

Unfortunately, you 3 aren't able to solve the mystery before the train reveals itself to be a badnik and says it's taking you all to Eggman.

So everyone comes together in beating up the train (though Starline probably considered taking over the train for himself, he knows better atm).

You all beat the train and unintentionally free the flicky & conductor along the way (no one really cared about the conductor besides Barry).

Everyone gathers along outside, the conductor & flicky sneak out, wondering what crazy last day they just had.

As everyone's talking, they all begin to realize they never solved the murder mystery. Most of them either don't care anymore or are like

"Well, I guess we'll never know."

And move on.

Now I could write an actual plot and say which of the villains was the murder,

Or I could say it was Belle because Surge & Kit dragged her into this for some sibling bonding and despite being terrified, decided to make the best of it. Also, everyone forgot she was there the whole time.

As everyone's getting off the train car and Belle & Starline are shooting death glares at each other.

AU: Magical Girl Sally (but good this time)

Hoo boy, so part of the reason it took me so long to answer this is because I had so many ideas about what direction to take it. But after a lot of thought, this is what I came up with. It's pretty lengthy, so you can find it under the cut.

1.) THE STORY: Sally Atkins was just an ordinary High School girl living in Station Square…until the day the Golden River came to the city, flooding the area and plunging the world into chaos. From its shimmering depths emerged The Cursed Kingdom Of Mobotropolis and its rulers, The Court of the Metarex. They began an invasion of the city, seeking to trap its citizens in suits of Cursed Armors that would force them to do their bidding. It was only thanks to the aid of a mysterious lynx-spirit named Ellidy that Sally was able to make her escape. Ellidy explained that she and the Metarex came from another universe, a magical world known as The Mobian Realm, once a peaceful world until the Golden River which gave it its magic became corrupted by an unknown evil that drove its king to violence. Now the King seeks to expand the Mobian Realm into the human world, and only Sally can stop him, for she is the reincarnation of the king’s daughter, The Acorn Princess, reborn into this world after she perished trying to stop her father’s actions in the Mobian Realm. By taking up the Acorn Princess’ enchanted sword, the Emerald Blade, Sally can reawaken the power of the six Chaos Emeralds which, once they are wielded by champions of their own, will help her fight back against the Metarex and save both her world and the Mobian Realm.

2.) OUR HEROES:

* Sally Atkins, Princess of Light: Sally never knew her real parents; they died when she was very young, but they left her in the care of their good friend Julayla, who raised Sally as her own. She might’ve grown up to be a shy, withdrawn girl, but by chance she made friends with a boy who called himself Sonic (because even to this day he refuses to use his actual name) and, growing up side by side, the two formed a friendship so strong that it helped Sally to begin to come out of her shell…so when Sonic was one of the first to be captured by the Metarex, she knew she would do everything in her power to save him. She isn’t sure she entirely believes Ellidy’s story that she is the reincarnation of The Acorn Princess, but she does know that the power of her Golden Emerald Blade helps her to fight back against the Metarex’s forces, and so she marches towards her Destiny in hopes that it will bring about peace.

* Amy Rose, Champion of Love: A friend of Sonic’s (and Sally’s, eventually), Amy is a bright-eyed younger student who loves Tarot Readings and playing Arcade Games (Whack-a-mole is her favorite). When the Metarex came, in fact, she risked her life to help guide citizens to the Twinkle Park Arcade to try and keep them safe, an act which almost saw her captured by the Cursed Armors until Sally intervened to save her. Her Emerald Blade, however, told her that Amy was the one who could wield the power of the Silver Emerald, and so Amy became Sally’s first new ally, the Champion of Love!

* Nicole Ellison, Champion of Wisdom: Nicole is something like the girl Sally would have been if she’d never met Sonic: bookish, withdrawn, shy, soft-spoken. But that suits her fine; she’s happy that way, especially after she and Sally became close friends back in Grade School. She’s happy to spend time with Sally and Sonic, but she’s even more happy studying science or reading books in the library; it was Sally’s trust in Nicole’s knowledge that led her to seek her out in finding out more about the Metarex, which in turn led to them discovering that Nicole was the one to wield the Violet Emerald, becoming the second Champion. Like Sally, she isn’t sure she believes in the story of the Acorn Princess, but she can’t help but notice that she and Ellidy have similar sounding voices…similar looking eyes….

* Bonnie “Bunnie” Rabbaeu, Champion of Strength: After Sonic, Bunnie (her preferred nickname) is Sally’s oldest, most trusted friend…which was what made it all the more tragic when she was one of the first to be captured by the Metarex, who trapped her in the Cursed Armor of Black Narcissus. It took Sally, Amy, and Nicole all working together to free her, and even then some of the Armor remained attached to Bunnie. But her mind is now free, and, wielding the Jade Emerald, she fights with the strengths of Light AND Darkness together as the fourth Champion. An astute fighter and an intensely loyal friend, Bunnie hopes for the day she’ll be fully free of her Curse, but she keeps a strong smile on for the sake of her friends.

* Cristine “Cream” Vanille, Champion of Joy: A cheerful young girl who delights in hanging out with Amy when her mother allows it, Cristine (or “Cream”, as her mother sometimes calls her affectionately) can always be found with her favorite plush-toy Cheese The Chao, ready for a new game of her own making…until the day she was separated from her mother by the Metarex. Terrified and alone, it looked like she might become the next victim of the Cursed Armor, until Sally and the Champions came to her rescue. To their shock, Cream was revealed by the Emerald Blade to be the one to wield the Sky-Blue Emerald, making her the fifth Champion, despite the others’ hesitance at involving a child in their fight….

* Julia Suder, Champion of Courage: Julia might’ve attended the same school as Sally, Sonic, Amy, and Bonnie; she might’ve even spent time hanging out with them on occasion. But she doesn’t like to think of herself as a friend, or someone who HAS friends. Growing up homeless, abandoned by her parents, taught her that it was foolish to trust others. Or at least that’s what she kept telling herself, until the day she found a wounded Bonnie following a bad run-in with a Cursed Armor. Fighting the Armor herself to keep Bonnie safe, Julia realized she wanted to learn how to be a real friend…and once Sally met her and learned that she would wield the Violet Emerald as the sixth Champion, she just might get that chance.

* Rhoda “Rouge” Bailey, Champion of Guile: A drifter who had only recently come to Station Square when the Golden River appeared, Rhoda never intended to get involved with any of this Metarex nonsense; she had much better things to do, like trying to take advantage of the disorder to get her hands on all the lovely jewelry the city had to offer. That’s what led her to steal Amy’s Emerald, which in turn forced a three-way confrontation between her, Sally and the Champions, and a Cursed Armor seeking to take the Emerald for itself. Impressed with Amy’s abilities (and those of the other Champions), she agreed to return her Emerald, leading to the shocking discovery that she was the one meant to wield the Blue Emerald as the seventh and final Champion!

* Blaze, Princess of Flames: Blaze the Cat, like the Metarex, hails from the Mobian Realm, the Princess and sole survivor of the Sol Empire, a rival kingdom that had been one of many destroyed or conquered by the Metarex. Wielding an Emerald Blade of her own, the Sol Emerald Blade, she seeks vengeance against the Metarex, and though her mission makes her an ally to Sally and the others, her cold attitude and vengeful disposition often makes it a difficult partnership. Perhaps, however, the protective instinct she feels toward Cristine, and Amy’s increasingly-affectionate attitude toward her, might help soften her spirit….

3.) OUR VILLAINS:

* Dark Oak, The Cursed King: Once he was Maximillian the Acorn King, leader of Mobotropolis in a time of peace, guided by the Divine wisdom of the Golden River…until one day, the River grew corrupt, and Maximillian along with it (or was it Maximillian who corrupted the River?). Forged directly from the Golden River’s mysterious substance, he ordered the creation of the Cursed Armors, and became Dark Oak, leader of the Metarex, and laid waste to the many kingdoms of the Mobian Realm. But his conquest was not unopposed; his own daughter led a rebellion against him, and though he struck her down in the end, she was able to injure him so grievously that he dares not leave his Castle, for fear of dying should he be out of direct contact with the Golden River for too long. His heart too was broken by her death, and he now believes that Sally could be the key to bringing his daughter back to life….

* Yellow Zelkova, The Cursed Prince: Once he was Elias the Acorn Prince, second-born and only son of the King; he had always resented how little love his father showed him, and initially joined his sister in her rebellion against him. But upon her death, his heart grew cold and bitter, allowing him to be overtaken by the Cursed Armor of Yellow Zelkova, twisting his anger toward his father into a fire that motivates him to prove his worth as a member of the Metarex Court. After all, how better to get close enough to his father to kill him and take control for himself?

* Pale Bayleaf, Knight of the Wind: Once he was Sonic Maurice, Sally’s dearest friend since the days of their childhood. But when the Metarex came, he laid down his life to save hers, and was taken prisoner. Realizing his bond with Sally, and believing it could prove key in defeating her, Dark Oak chose to trap Sonic within the Cursed Armor of Pale Bayleaf, swiftest and deadliest knight of the Metarex Court. Now he leads the Metarex’s forces, his once-heroic spirit corrupted into an all-consuming Ego that leaves no room for others. Can Sally free him before the curse consumes him completely?

* Red Pine, Knight of Stone: Once he was Knuckles the Guardian Prince, leader of a rival kingdom that was among the first to be conquered by the Metarex in the Mobian Realm. To show others who might try to defy him the fate that befell his enemies, Dark Oak placed Knuckles within the Cursed Armor of Red Pine, the strongest of the knights of the Metarex Court. Unlike the others, however, Red Pine shows no corrupted personality: Knuckles’ spirit is so strong, fighting against the curse so fiercely, that Red Pine shows no personality of any kind, acting solely on instinct and aggression as a result. It makes him uniquely dangerous, but it also means he might be uniquely able to be set free of the curse….

* Naugus, The Witch-Crafter: Once he was the King’s Royal Adviser, whose gift with wizardry made him an invaluable asset to the Kingdom. But when Maximillian became corrupted, he saw a unique opportunity to expand his power, and the power of the Kingdom. And so he continued to serve Maximillian, and offered his magical abilities to the King’s corrupt cause: using his magic in combination with the Golden River, he now forges the Cursed Armors that allow the Metarex to achieve their aims, all the while secretly plotting to harness the full power of the Golden River for himself….

4.) THE MISSION: With the Golden River having flowed into the human world, the Metarex seek to use their Cursed Armors to turn all of its people into their servants. When an Armor finds a victim, it taps into the darkest most parts of their heart, using that power to bind its victim to its Curse, transforming them into a deadly enemy who serves Dark Oak. When the Armor is defeated in battle, however, its Impurities are exposed, allowing Sally and the Champions to use the power of the Emeralds to break the Curse, destroy the armor, and free its victim. This is the fight Sally and the Champions fight each and every day as new Armors attempt to expand the hold of the Metarex across Station Square, but their ultimate goal is to find a way into the Castle Mobotropolis. That is where the source of the Golden River resides, it is where Dark Oak dwells, and only by defeating both do Sally and the Champions have any hope of stopping the Metarex and restoring balance between the two worlds. 📚☕💐 - Amy runs the cafe that Sonic works at. It’s her front for her secondary business, that takes up most of her time. You can usually find her tapping away on a laptop somewhere in the cafe with some new experimental beverage she’s thinking about adding to the menu in her cup.

💖🌸💎 - I’m like thrilled to hear you’ve seen other people have similar headcannons about Amy’s feelings towards Sonic. I’m glad it’s not just me! Okay, tidbit. I’m super stoked to write Amy’s self-actualization and her romance with Blaze, but I’m also really excited to get to write Rouge on her own sans her team of Omega and Shadow. We get cool-headed Rouge all the time, but I’m horribly excited to have pissed-off-and-done-with-everyone’s-shit Rouge teaming up with Amy and Blaze. She’s like the Knuckles of this Sonic Heroes type team-up in that she’s not the power character (that’s Blaze), but that she’s VERY ANGRY and IS GONNA SAVE EVERYONE DAMMIT. Blaze has more poise than that these days, and Amy’s definitely capable of angry, but her mood is going to be more determined for this fic. But Rouge gets to be Big Mad in this fic, and I’m really looking forward to having a place to just write a very angry lady and have her win a lot while channeling those feelings.

🏜🏝⚡ - Thank you so much for showing this one some love. 🥺 Urbosa is very important to me, and it means so much to know there’s someone who’s ready my stuff who wants to hear this story too. I really want to explore Zelda’s mom a bit more. Nintendo really could have given her a name and a face in Age of Calamity, and it feels kinda sus that they didn’t actually. I wonder if she’ll be relevant to BOTW2, but I have no idea how she would factor in! Anyway, something I’d like to explore in this fic is the idea of “duty” as a Queen and a leader. Is that duty to produce an heir? Is that duty to choose one instead? Is blood really so important when it comes to what’s best for the Gerudo people? Or is it more important to have each Gerudo realize her dreams to the fullest, whether they are a large family or traveling the world for the sake of studying ancient texts and other cultures. I want Urbosa to decide what serving her people looks like for her, and I want that answer to twine together with what Zelda’s mother answer looks like.

🗡🍛☕ - I love all of these goons, but the Chariot characters always feel like callouts for me--especially Chie and Ryuji. That’s probably why Ryuji is my POV character. The Chariot is all about a journey too--going from one place to another. I think that makes Ryuji a really good vehicle for this story. I also just want to write more healthy poly relationships, and in ways that aren’t all of them just sleeping together. And I want to give Akira some sad feelings about Akechi that he’s still working through. He’s not used to losing people, and idk if he’ll ever be over having lost Akechi, the boy who was his perfect foil. But that’s not gonna stop him from being horribly in love with Ryuji and romancing that boy real good.

MightyxAmy is actually something I’ve thought of o-o; here’s why-

Prompt:

“I’m soooo glad you’ve decided to stick around and not go off the face of the planet for forever and never tell me anything ever again until I finally found you this time, Mighty!!!” Excited but also throwing a bit of shade in his fast-talking joy, Ray flew up and down in a pleasant glide as Mighty lowered his head in a bit of embarrassment.

“It... was really that bad for you, huh?” He did feel a bit guilty, but it was his way to just disappear into nature and... figuratively, become one living in it.

Ray just happily swooshed down and landed in a beautiful pose as he didn’t just stick the landing, he STRUCK it.

“Very nice.” Mighty had a bead of awkward sweat drop slightly from the side of his face, though subtle and hidden as Ray turned around and bowed, then laughed at his own whimsy.

“It’s been so long! I was worried I may never see you or Sonic again. Though, lately, Sonic’s easier to spot than ever before now! I mean, just look for his friends and he’ll be around there somewhere!” Ray joked, but he wasn’t quite off the mark.

In the past, Sonic was elusive, he was much more social than now than ever before!

“You have a point there...” Speaking of his friends...

Mighty had a weakness, something he didn’t want to admit but looking over at Sonic’s friends...

It had been years since he’d seen Sonic. Last time, he was stopping Eggman and his robotic menace, Metal Sonic, who were bent on stealing the Chaos Emeralds and even the Master Emerald from under Knuckles’s diligent nose.

At least, that’s how Mighty perceived Knuckles, with a level of respect for him being a type of ‘forest guardian’ in his mind.

“Will Eggman ever get over his mania for power and greed?” He tsk’d, before seeing the pink image of delicate grace but extraordinary power bounce into his sights and head over to her friends, lovingly holding up flowers as little flickies of all different species were helping her carry some fruit and flowers over to them as well.

“They wanted to say thank you! Isn’t this so sweet?” she chimed, and her voice caught him as he melted at the sight of a girl...

Yes, there was a weakness... but it was specific...

“What’s wrong?” Ray walked over to him, seeing his distracted expression and a hint of sorrow in it as well. “You look like you’re wracked over something...”

Mighty flinched, he was so used to being alone with his thoughts, he hadn’t really practiced talking about his thoughts outloud.

Though... the temptation to tell someone was too great to bare...

“Don’t say, ‘it’s nothing’ cause it clearly is-OFPH!” Ray’s mouth was quickly quieted as Mighty smushed his two, massive and gloved hands over his head and mouth, looking around.

As Ray struggled, he moved him back and let him go, making sure Ray’s remarks were far out of earshot.

“Pah, pah! Your gloves smell like old, rotten berries! Pah!”

“I’m on a diet.” Mighty looked a bit ashamed, but he wanted to talk about it... just... not really talk about it. “I can’t go over there, Ray.” He folded his arms, looking away with a small shade of similar pink to that other Hedgehog’s color... resting upon his cheeks. “I... I haven’t really been around-...” He bit his tongue, not wanting to confess it.

“What? Others?” Ray tilted his head cutely, “You know, it’s not like we’re all master socializers here.” He laughed, “I haven’t really seen Sonic and his other friends either! It’s been years!”

Sonic was actually organizing a gathering, he wanted to announce something like a new game where everyone could compete and have fun in.

Mighty and Ray were reached out to after a lot of effort, but Mighty just sighed. “It’s not just that... those my dissociating from people and living in nature has a lot to do with it...” Mighty knew he was guilty of that, but that was just his way. Nature was his calling, and he couldn’t survive in a modern world.

Even microwaves... just thinking of a robot cooking your food for you was a little ‘wrong’ in Mighty’s mind and heart.

“I’m not good around... strong women...” He ducked his head so far down that you could have sworn he was falling under Narcolepsy.

Ray blinked his eyes, innocently.

Then a knowing and an almost hidden, sly demeanor crossed his face as he put his hands behind his back and smiled, “Just strong women?” He teased, but his tone made it sound so sweetly innocent and sincere.

Mighty blushed and turned away, but as he did so, he saw Rouge pierce her spinning kick and break a boulder.

He turned away, shaking his head before seeing Blaze also training, bursting fire out from around her and melting the pieces of the rock Rouge had sent flying.

All the while, Ray watched Mighty and the actions he was seeing, smiling...

“It’s bad.” Mighty covered his eyes, “I can’t help it. I guess I’ve always seen women as kind of... small?” He didn’t know how to describe it. “So when I see that they’re strength could even rival my own...”

“Well, you are really strong!” Ray’s bubbly personality had him hop up a little closer to Mighty, “And it makes sense, since you aren’t really around women very much in the forest. Unless... You’re secretly into nymphs...”

Cheekily, Ray covered his bashful face and snickered up at Mighty, who held back bonking him on the head and turned away.

“Quit it! Those don’t exist!”

“Ohh... but you wish.”

“I do not!” Mighty swung around, clearly growing upset but more so embarrassed at his flaw. “I just... I don’t know what to do. It gets really bad around-” He stopped when Amy Rose stepped up to the girls, giving them a thumbs up with her hammer swung around her shoulders like a baseball bat.

She readied her swing as Cream rose up and hit a ball towards her. She must have been preparing for one of Sonic’s prepared Friend Games, and practically exploded the ball on impact.

“Aw man!” Amy cutely tapped her head, “Not another one...” she slumped a little and let her hammer fall serenely to her side, as though just as depressed as she was. “Hey, Sonic!” she called, waving her hands to get his attention, then placing it on her cheek. “You’ll need to get stronger balls to throw! These couldn’t even withstand Cheese’s punches!”

Cheese, flying beside Cream, buffed up his chest and sucked in some air. Looking fierce.

“Oh? You got it, Amy!” Sonic shrugged back to Tails, “That new compacted ball was tightly strung together, now what, Tails?”

“Not another one...” Tails seemed to have failed once again in inventing the equipment necessary to actually have the Friend Games work out for everyone’s differing power levels.

Mighty scooted back slightly, growing shy.

Ray saw his hands move a little together and then looked beamingly up towards Mighty, “Ah! You like the strongest of the strong, huh?”

Mighty shook his head, “She’s Sonic’s girl, isn’t she?” He turned away, not liking referring to someone as someone else’s... it sounded like slavery to him. “I mean, she’s with someone... and that’s wrong.” he shook his head, “So... I’m not.”

“But you way are though.” Ray bounced his eyebrows and then held up a finger, “Ah, ah, ah! No butts! I’m teaching you how to talk to a girl, and move passed your fears!” He flew up towards Cream in the air, rubbing the back of his head humbly as he introduced himself.

However, as they perched on a limp from a nearby tree, Charmy began to twitch in angry and flew over, challenging Ray to a contest.

“...Um, okay.” Mighty took the wrong idea from that interaction and slowly began to approach Amy. “H-hello, I’m Mighty... I’m, uh... What am I again? Oh, an armadillo... do you like Armadillos? N-n-not like a food, but like as an individual.” he stopped himself and slapped a hand up to the front of his face. “This is stupid! I’m going home!” he was about to turn around when Amy crashed through a set of boulders, training her strength for Tails’s experiment on crafting a new ball to play with, but looked strangely torn at how he was going to do such a fleat.

As he panicked, Amy turned to look at Mighty, who didn’t realize he had walked right in front of the next boulder.

“Oh, hello!” she swung her hammer away from him and cutely curtsied, “I’m Amy! Amy Rose!”

He mumbled something incoherent and she tilted her head, moving closer up to his face. “I-I’m sorry, could you repeat that?” She got so close that he almost felt his whole body shutting down in the close proximity.

“I-I-I like your hammer.” he stepped back, his whole face stuck on horror with the red of his emotions. His body trembled and he held himself a minute, not sure if that was the right thing to say or if that creeped her out.

“Oh, wow! Thank you so much!”

His eyes widened a little and he relaxed, turning around again to see her face light up at his compliment.

“You know, not a lot of people say that. I like you too!” she waved and moved back to Tails.

“...She...” A huge misunderstanding was forming. “Likes me?”

Ray flew back, “Well, I think that bee guy is chasing the wrong flower, but she’s a pretty cute flower, to say the least.” Ray seemed to be letting it go, not meaning anything by talking with Cream, but also seemed to have won the challenge as Cream was trying to comfort a crying Charmy. “Nothing too charming about that and jealousy.” Being a bit wiser than his looks, Ray seemed to have a good grasp on people.

“Mighty?”

When he saw his friend completely frozen in a moment of hope, he didn’t know how to read this one, but knew he missed something important.

He looked behind him for some clues, and seeing Amy speaking with Tails, he positively flew up in a burst of joy. “Yipee! You spoke with her! Conquered your social awkwardness! How was it? How do you feel?” he turned left... then right... trying to get a read on Mighty’s expression.

Mighty gripped his heart, “...I think... I’m gonna talk to her again.” He looked more motivated than ever, and crushed his fist together, looking stoked. “I think I might have a shot!”

“A...Wait, what?” Ray’s unique ability to connect with others suddenly lost it’s touch... he was totally confused as Mighty rushed back behind him and politely tapped her shoulder, making her turn in another wave of surprise.

“Oh, hello again.” her personality sparkled through his lonely sunrise...

“I’d like to like you too!” he boldly stated, and she didn’t know how to interpret that, other than giggle into her hand and continue her competitive streak.

“Alright! They say that bonds grow on the battlefield! Let’s fight our best out there! I’m glad to have made a friend of Sonic’s!” she put her bundled hands up in a very girlish behavior, one he wasn’t used too, but thought she was accepting him.

“R-right!” he almost wanted to mimic her in hopes of pleasing her in the conversation, but resisted it as it felt awkward to even think about doing.

She waved again and her and Tails took off.

He puffed some determined air out of his nostrils, “Ray! What’s the first game!?” he charged over to him, ready to train and have more interactions with her.

However, while trying his best to impressive, stick with, and battle alongside Amy, he couldn’t help but notice her fondness for Sonic...

‘What am I doing wrong?’ he wondered, and tried to mimic what the other dudes were doing for the ladies.

He lifted a boulder and threw it at a staged robot for a game that required you to bulldoze your way through an obstacle course, and reached out for Amy.

She wasn’t in need of it though, and just shook it, smiling politely.

When he saw Silver do it for Blaze... she took it and got helped up from the powerful blast in the last challenge race...

He used his strength to grip a bridge into place, but saw Sonic scoop Amy up and sped through the now stabilized bridge he was holding up...

Losing some faith, he dropped the bridge once they were safely across... and lost the challenge.

Later, Ray come up to him. “Hmm, you sure you heard her right?” After getting the whole story from him. “You know... maybe... she was complimented you back from your compliment to her.” he tried to explain, “Like, when you crush a boulder with one fist and I say, ‘nice job!’ and you go, ‘You too!’.” he acted out the scenario, but Mighty looked like the crushed boulder he was pretending to punch.

“...Oh.” he lowered his head, seeing his friend really saddened by this.

Suddenly, as Ray went to maybe reach for Mighty but pulled it back to hold his own arm instead in defeat, Sonic sped through the two and turned back, calling out. “Hey, you two! We’ve got a problem! Amy’s missing!”

Mighty rose up from his pity and nodded instinctively.

The two took off with Sonic and found that Amy had been lost in one of Eggman’s sabotages, and Mighty just so happened to be the first one to dig her out of the landslide.

Helping her up, she held onto him and he felt what Sonic must feel when he carries her, and continued to try and get her to safety.

Using his nature skills, he found her natural ointments for her scrapes and scratches, food that she was safe for her to eat, and even how to follow the water tracks back to civilization... or something like that, Amy didn’t really follow everything but was deeply impressed by him.

She did compliment him a lot though... so maybe?

“Miss Rose...” He began, but she quickly cut him off.

“Amy! No need for any of that, I’m not an old lady, silly!” she teased, fanning her hand out to shush him on trying to be so formal. “We’re friends now! No need for that.”

“O-oh... How’d you get so strong?”

“I wanted to be beside Sonic... always.” her stance changed as she dreamily looked off into the distance, trekking through the other side of the mountain since Amy was trapped on a now covered trail that Eggman had rigged. They had to move around the mountain to be safe, but were triggering traps along the way.

He felt his shoulders rest down at her mention of Sonic, and the way her entire being seemed to fall and rest in a gentle way at mentioning him.

“Uh-huh.” He looked away, “You like him... don’t you?”

“Emm... is it obvious?” She cutely teased, covering her face and swaying her body back and forth, “For the most part, I like everyone, but especially my Sonic!” she swooned, placing her hands cutely on the side of her cheek.

“Well, it’s good to know.”

Mighty and Amy looked amazed to see Sonic coming up behind them, holding some wires in his hands as he seemed to have cleared the upcoming trek before finding them.

He winked to them, “Miss me?”

“Sonic!” she excitedly dashed towards him, her arms outstretched wide as she embraced him and tried to peck his whole face with kisses, but he just kept pulling away, leaning his head back.

“Easy, Amy! Easy! You’ll spook out Mighty!” Sonic smiled but in a embarrassed and awkward way, knowing Mighty wasn’t used to Amy’s typical behavior.

But as Mighty watched them, he felt a kind of peace wash over him.

‘Ah, so that’s how a woman shows she likes a man.’ he smiled kindly to the two, then sighed and put his hands to his hips, accepting his defeat. ‘I guess I’ll have to find a girl willing to like me that much too...’

“Mighty?”

Turning back, he realized he had spaced out in his own thoughts again, excluding the world around him as he had to be social again, and waved his hands out to them as he tried to explain himself. “Ah! N-nothing! W-we should get Amy back safely though!”

“Aw, I’m a lot stronger than that, right!?” She summoned her hammer, moving away from Sonic and then presenting Mighty with a fist to hit.

She smiled bold and brave... and he admired that in her.

He realized his feelings were from a lack of experience, and that this was the most ‘liking’ Amy would ever let him receive, and was just glad he got to learn more about her.

“Yeah, you are strong.” he returned the fist bump, and let it linger there a moment as his eyes widened a second. “You... You didn’t get pushed back.”

Amy’s eyelid twitched as she was forcing her eyes closed, her feet were in a stance to withstand the light... but heavily powerful force that came from his fist touching hers.

“Uh-huh.” She spoke through the pain, but was immediately impressed by her able to withstand his power, and felt his heart race at her strength again.

“I gotta go!” he took off, letting Sonic take care of the rest as he secretly delighted in the fact that there existed a woman out there who wouldn’t get flung back by his fist-pump...

(Mighty is a tree-hippie in my mind lolol And I hope you’re okay with me stressing Mighty more than Sonamy in this prompt... I couldn’t help myself XD but Sonamy is still there!)

BLS talk about your backstory hcs id love to hear all of them 🥺

aaaaaaa okay so here are all of the ones i have so far. this got pretty long so it’ll be under the cut:

sonic: two moms: bernie and aleena (from archie and underground respectively) they were the leaders of the first war with eggman (eggman is old dude, he’s definitely been doing this for way longer than sonic’s been alive). sonic spent his childhood years in the rebel’s base, but he didn’t like being cooped up so he would often sneak out. 

eventually one of eggman’s cameras caught him running around super fast (similar to the first ep of underground) and so he wanted to catch him to use his powers and stuff. so he got sent to live with his uncle chuck in knothole in order to hide/be protected. unfortunately this would be the last time he would see his moms, as they would go MIA after a mission to eggman’s base and would be presumed dead. he lived with his uncle until he was 8, when chuck was captured and roboticized :(

he wandered by himself alone for a while before coming across sally and the rest of the satam freedom fighter crew. by this point he was going by his uncle’s nickname for him “sonic” full-time, although he wouldn’t realize why until a bit later. when he was like 11 he and sally dated for like.. a few weeks before they were like uh. this isn’t working. this was also both when they realized they were trans. i have a comic about this which you can find right here!

sonic left knothole to start fresh, eventually coming to south island where sonic 1 takes place, around age 12-13. (eggman realized he was presenting as male now and switched pronouns - he may be evil but he respects his nemesis ok, it’s basic human decency) sonic proved to him that even though his moms may be gone, he was gonna continue their fight and put a stop to his plans!

(also: he later finds out that his moms didn’t die! they didn’t want to put the rebels in danger after their mission and went into hiding. they went to uncle chuck’s place after a while but found no trace of chuck or sonic, and fearing the worst, simply went back to their hiding place and started a life there, adopting two kids (sonia and manic!!) sonic saves their house from being attacked by badniks and then he’s like WAIT- they catch up and he meets his new sibs and it’s great!!!)

(bonus: sonic gives his old dress to amy near the end of the classic days, which is the one she wears from adventure 1 and onward!)

knuckles: (these are based on @bbgatile‘s knuckles headcanons) he had two moms, but then a disease wiped out the entire echidna population, leaving only knuckles, who managed to survive due to not having hatched out of his egg yet. he had never met another mobian or anyone other than the normal animals on angel island prior to meeting sonic and tails.

tails: i dont remember where i read this, but i saw someone come up with the idea that radiation or toxic stuff or whatever from chemical plant zone is what caused his two tails, which i thought was an interesting idea. i dont have any hcs really on what his life was like before meeting sonic, but it’s definitely not like his parents in the archie comics. i also hc he met sonic when he was around 5. yes that would mean a 5 year old was going on all these adventures but listen. this is sonic. why wouldn’t he be doing that kind of stuff at 5

amy: agggh i dont really have any family hcs or whatever, but i hc that amy was a little troublemaker as a kid, leading to her nickname of “rosy the rascal”. i also have no idea about the whole cd nonsense of her being from another dimension or timeline or whatever, but i think that makes her character a lot more interesting, so when i come up with backstory stuff for her, i definitely want to incorporate that!!

shadow: shadow’s backstory is obviously pretty well explained in canon but for additional stuff, see my development chart and ARK fic!

blaze: i have a whole fic of blaze basically just explaining my backstory for her to sonic over on AO3 called “tell me something nice”!!

silver: i definitely am a supporter of the idea that shadow is silver’s father. again, i have a comic (excuse the weird old silver design) sort of explaining this right here!!

rouge: i dont have that much for her either, but i hc that rouge grew up in a very poor household and began stealing just to survive, but she got addicted to the thrill of it. combine that with her love of jewels and all things shiny and you’ve got a masterclass jewel thief on your hands

Birthday Bash! (Part One): Giving and Receiving

Writer: Ian Flynn Pencils: Tracy Yardley! Colors: Jason Jensen

Welcome to the beginning of Ian Flynn's reign, everyone! As many of you will know, Ian is a fan favorite amongst readers of the comics, and for good reason. Objectively, I'd say he has a much better sense than any previous writer of how to construct dynamic and interesting stories, as well as a great head for writing dialogue. Every character has their own unique voice when speaking, and as someone who takes a particular interest in dialogue in her own writing, it's something I admire a lot, especially given how stilted and unnaturally formal a lot of dialogue by Karl and especially Kenders often sounded, regardless of who was speaking. That said, I think that it took a good year or so for him to fully come into his own as head writer for the series, so some earlier issues are a bit strange and not up to par with a lot of his later work. Some of this, to be fair, is due to him essentially playing clean-up for this first year, untangling a lot of the bizarre leftover plot threads that Karl and Kenders left behind, and generally trying to make the world of the comics conform a little better to that of the games. All that aside, anyone reading the comics will likely notice an immediate and apparent improvement in the overall quality of the work starting with this issue. This is helped along, in addition, by none other than the very talented artist Tracy Yardley! who always (well, almost always) introduces himself in the story credits with an exclamation mark. It's kind of his calling card. Tracy took a while to really improve his art as well, so while his earliest issues sometimes have some strange proportions and poses, later on his style became easily one of the most visually attractive and recognizable ones in the series, simplifying a lot of the inconsistencies that many character designs had as well as doing away with the strange pseudo-human proportions that some artists tended to favor, particularly with the female characters. All this said, I will say that Ian isn't going to be immune to my criticism, as while I do recognize his skill as a writer and the good things he brought to the table, there are definitely some problems I have with the way he handled certain things. We'll cross those bridges when we come to them, however, so for now, let's dive into the new world he's creating and see how he does!

Elias and Sonic are walking on the outskirts of Knothole as Elias explains why his father approved the Metal Sonic troopers from last issue. We don't even really get to hear the explanation, but to be fair, we hardly need one, as the idea was so insane to begin with that the only true explanation is that Kenders needed a plot device. Sonic tries to make Elias promise that "you royals" won't hit him with any more weird surprises, and Elias says they only have one more, leading him to a building next to where the Great Oak Slide into the village ends.

I mean, canonically he's supposed to be turning seventeen here, even though realistically he should be turning eighteen, because remember, for him to have turned sixteen in StH#68, had the Robians be deroboticized in early June in StH#123, and still have managed to spend close to a year in space before turning seventeen, literally everything in between the two aforementioned issues would have had to take place in the span of a few weeks - yes, that's counting the month-and-a-half time span that Sonic was confined to Knothole, as well as major events like Eggman's return and the entire Green Knuckles saga. You can see why this huge discrepancy still bothers me, right? Hmph. Anyway, no sooner has the party begun than an explosion destroys the door, and two new players enter the scene - Bean the Dynamite and Bark the Polar Bear from Sonic the Fighters! Nack's been part of the comic for long enough now, so it's cool to see these two make their first appearance. Bark is totally silent - as far as I remember, he never says a single word during the entirety of the comic - but Bean, in the absence of an obvious personality to draw from in the game, has subsequently been given the personality trait of "criminally insane" in the comics.. He's erratic, he talks to himself, he cracks jokes where jokes really shouldn't be cracked, and most importantly of all, he loves his goddamn bombs. Bean starts chucking said bombs left and right at the various Freedom Fighters in the base, while Sonic tangles with Bark. He seems to think these guys are only after him due to something Evil Sonic did in his place, something which he has by now apparently finally explained to all the women of Knothole, and manages to break away from Bark to stop Bean's bombing spree by pinning him to a wall and asking about Evil Sonic. However, Bean happily insists there's been no mistake and he wasn't even aware of Sonic having an evil twin, nor does he particularly care. Oh, speaking of Evil Sonic…

Huh, it seems that Evil Sonic has actually explained his true identity to Rouge in between their previous failed attempt and now. I'm surprised she hasn't outright abandoned him by now due to Rouge not exactly being evil-aligned to begin with, but I guess the pull of the shiny is just too strong for her to resist. And as it turns out, Bean suffers from a similar insatiable need! Fiona pulls out a ring of keys and shakes them around, completely distracting Bean from his current activity of bashing Sonic's head in, and throws them out the hole he made in the wall, prompting him to immediately abandon everything to chase after them. Fiona then advances on Bark, who by now has gotten himself cornered by every Freedom Fighter in the room, and convinces him to stand down as he's outnumbered. Outside, Bean plays with the keys and talks to them, seemingly convinced that they're a beautiful woman with an "adorable accent" who wants his number, when a suspiciously-Shadow-shaped shadow converges on him, prompting him to try to invite him into smashing Sonic as well. Good luck there, buddy, I don't think Shadow usually runs with crazy…

Geez, Sally, cut Fiona some slack. Not everyone had a squeaky-clean record - hell, just look at Shadow! Back in the Chaos Chamber, Rouge and Evil Sonic begin to battle Locke, who tosses Evil Sonic to the side as he perceives Rouge to be the bigger threat. However, that turns out to be a bit of a bad idea, as with Rouge tied up in the fight, Evil Sonic takes his chance to go after the Master Emerald without her, obviously recognizing it as more than just a shiny trinket.

Back in Knothole, Shadow explains that he's only here to thank Sonic for saving Hope, as he knows he wouldn't have been able to do it on his own, and reminds him that as soon as he leaves this building they're back to being enemies, as Shadow's still aligned with Eggman for now. Sonic, to his credit, seems to recognize that Shadow is only allied with Eggman because he doesn't yet know better, and cheerfully invites him to come back here whenever he cuts out on that deal in the future. It's at this point that everyone realizes Bean has quietly snuck into the brain trust's comms room to casually let Eggman know that he and Bark failed to take Sonic down, and when Fiona ushers him back out of the room, Eggman is only too happy to let Sonic know personally that he wishes him a happy birthday and he's sending him a new, more metallic present. Within seconds a thud outside alerts them to the arrival of this present, and everyone rushes out to see a strange figure emerging from an egg pod - a figure which resolves itself into the combined forms of Crocbot and Octobot, now merged into the singular entity of… Croctobot! (Don't worry, Ian knows just how silly this is and even acknowledges it next issue.) But what of Evil Sonic and Rouge? How is their fight faring against Locke after the former got knocked aside? Well, Evil Sonic takes his chance to dramatically emerge from behind the emerald as the other two get ready to continue their fight…

Plot twist! How many people actually didn't know by now that Evil Sonic and Scourge were the same person? I'm guessing there had to be at least a few of you. You can actually already see Ian's new plans being put into action - it's very telling of his intentions when the very first issue he ever pens immediately makes a point of distinguishing a rather tired and boring character into a new and improved version of himself, with a unique name and new, visually distinct look. Apparently Kenders, who if you recall is the original creator of Evil Sonic, never liked this and continued to insist on referring to him as Evil Sonic, but screw that, Scourge is a much more interesting character and this was a change that sorely needed to be made.

Sonic Rush (Part One of Two)

So unfortunately, Sonic Adventure 2 isn't the only case in the preboot of a partial adaption of a game being included without any actual ending. Sonic Rush, the game, introduces Blaze, a cat from an alternate dimension that is controlled by the Sol Emeralds rather than the Chaos Emeralds, and most of the plot revolves around the Sol Emeralds ending up in Sonic's dimension and her trying to recollect them to bring back to her own world. However, things are a bit different in the comics universe. In this story, Blaze comes to Sonic's dimension because, apparently, she's been having nonstop dreams about him, dreams which show her visions of Eggman threatening the Sol Emeralds and Sonic helping her protect them. She's frustrated that she would have to rely on anyone else to help her protect the emeralds at all, believing them to be her sole responsibility, but nonetheless she's tracked Sonic to Knothole. However, while deliberating her next move, a squad of swatbots - yes, ordinary ones, it's been a while since we've seen them rather than shadow-bots - happen upon her and decide that they should take her in for interrogation.

Yeah, I guess Blaze doesn't understand the dangers present in this universe yet, does she? An hour or so later, Rotor sends for Sonic, informing him that they caught the aftermath of Blaze's capture on their video surveillance. Neither of them know who she is, but they decide she can't be from their village, since she left several disabled swatbots behind, while most people in Knothole are noncombatants and those that aren't are accounted for elsewhere. Sonic rushes out to find their trail and tracks them to a nearby facility set up amidst the trees, and while he begins fighting his way in, the scientific robots in the building go about studying their new specimen.

Sorry, but why the hell would Eggman be looking to add some random Mobian to his team? He only likes robots anyway, and tends to either betray or enslave every living being that comes to him. Blaze suddenly awakens and becomes furious - not that she's been captured, mind you, but that they took off her coat while studying her. She must be really goddamn attached to her coat, because she starts absolutely trashing the place, exploding into flames and screaming so loudly that Sonic becomes genuinely worried about her wellbeing, rushing to where he last heard her. The door of the lab she's in is completely blasted off its hinges by the force of Blaze's explosions, but thankfully after this she seems to have found her coat, because the blasts subside and she appears in the doorway wearing it once again, staring down at an utterly shocked Sonic with a look of fiery fury (the literal flames coating her entire body probably help with the "fiery" bit). Uh… good luck dealing with that, buddy boy!

Modern Sonamy oneshot. This is for you, Anon! Whomever you may be~

Amy was walking home after a long day (of getting kidnapped) and started breaking down. After a few minutes of sobbing, she heard an innocent voice call out to her.

   “Ms. Amy? Why are you crying?” Amy looked up to see ten year old Cream, with her chao, Cheese. She changed her outfit to something a little more conservative. She wore an orange sweater dress in the winter, along with black leggings like Amy did. Amy had a similar sweater dress, except it was a turtle-neck, and it was a little tighter around the waist. Amy wiped away her tears and smiled.

 “I’m fine, Cream.” Her voice cracked. Now Cream definitely knew something was wrong. Amy’s sweet, melodious never cracked.

    “Stop lying, Ms. Amy. I’m going to call Ms. Rouge, Ms. Blaze, and Ms. Lyra. They’ll know what happened.” She called the following girls on her phone. She had it in case of emergencies. Clearly this is one.

     “Hi, Cream. What do you mean? WHAT?! I’m on my way, Rouge is with me, I’ll get Blaze. Just get her home.”

     “Hi Ms. Lyra. Amy’s crying for some reason. I don’t know, she just dropped on the floor and started crying. Okay, see you later.” Cream ended the call, and helped Amy up, while giving her a hug.

   “It’s about Sonic, isn’t it. That no good, cowardly, piece of-” Rouge’s mouth was covered by Blaze because of Cream’s presence.

   “Cow pie. A stinking poop is what he is!” Cream exclaimed in anger. The girls all agreed at Cream’s comment. Amy sniffled.

   “W-why?! Why c-can’t he l-love m...me?! Is it the way I look?! I can change! I-I’d even dye my hair!” The girls all looked to each other. They all shook their heads.

    “Amy...I-We, don’t think Sonic’s worth it. He keeps breaking your heart, no matter how much you do for him. He’s not even considerate. You deserve so much more better than that.” Blaze told Amy, as she cried in Blaze’s arms.

   “B-but, no matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to fall for anyone else! And Sonic wouldn’t allow me to date other people.” Rouge looked puzzled. Lyra asked the question that Rouge was thinking.

   “What do you mean, Sonic won’t let you date other people?” Lyra brought her chair closer. She was sitting in the corner, writing about at least fifty different ways she could kill Sonic for breaking Amy’s heart.

    “Well, I can’t really explain it. Rouge, you know how you set me up on a blind date? Well, I was sitting with him, and suddenly Sonic came out of nowhere, and pulled me out of the cafe. He told me to stay away from other guys. Of course I was upset, so I told him to stop acting all overprotective, I can do whatever the hell I want, and he doesn’t listen, he just drops me off back here, and basically patrolled my house for the next few hours while I cried myself to sleep.” Amy said, her tears not scared of falling out.

    “That little shit!” Rouge yelled. Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

     “Oh! It must be my mom.” Cream ran to the door, and there stood her mother. She said ‘bye’ to everyone and left.

      “Okay, since I couldn’t say this in front of Cream, but, wanna go to the bar? It could get your mind of things!” Rouge literally started begging.

       “Fine. I guess that would help. Let’s go.” Amy was about to get up, but Rouge stopped her.

        “You’re not going anywhere in that. I brought some outfits, and we’re gonna wear them.” And with that, Rouge took out four skimpy outfits. Lyra had a poker face.

       “Ain’t no way in hell am I wearing that shit.” Rouge rolled her eyes. She took out a denim jacket, and handed it to her. They all put on their outfits in Amy’s room.

Amy was wearing a red silk strapless dress that hugged at her waist, she wore some bright red lipstick, but used a napkin to bring down the tone.

Blaze was wearing a purple spaghetti strapped deep sweetheart cut at her chest, and was wearing some lipgloss to make her lips sparkle.

Rouge was wearing a black strapless dress which ended about mid-thigh. The dress clenched at her waist. She wore deep red lipstick, and didn’t bother with the tone.

Lyra wore a white circle skirt dress, the skirt ending to her knees. She had a denim jacket on. She put on some lip balm, not really bothering putting on make-up. She sneaked her headphones and laptop, knowing that she’d need it later. The girls all took their purses and left in Rouge’s car.

- At The Bar

There was hip-hop music playing, lots of people everywhere, strangers getting all over each other, and some private booths for...you know...

   “Here we are~! Let’s go get something to drink!” Rouge drags the girls to the bar counter. She orders four cocktails (lol I’m too immature to drink and go to clubs) for the girls and they sit down in a couch that surrounds a circle table. After a while, Rouge sees a familiar red figure at the entrance. She stands up and waves, making the other three girls with her confused.

  “Rouge! What’re you doing here, babe?” Knuckles asked the bat as he, and his three friends, one being a specific hedgehog. Lyra signaled Rouge to huddle up as a group.

   “He’s here. With them.” Blaze said, her eyes wide open, gesturing to Amy and wanting her to be happy.

   “I want her to be happy and forget all about that asshole. The only way to do that is to keep him away from her! She’s suffering through heartbreak.” Lyra bluntly stated. The boys, being the idiots they are, decided to try and eavesdrop on their conversation. They heard something about her heartbreak. Everyone looked at Shadow, seeing he was the womanizer.

   “I haven’t been playing with any girls, honest.” Shadow said emotionlessly. The boys turned to Sonic. He looked confused.

   “What did I do?” Was all he asked. Knuckles face-palmed, Silver was making an ‘Are you fucking kidding me?!’ look, and Shadow just rolled his eyes, looking like he doesn’t give a fuck, but cares for his self-proclaimed little sister’s wellbeing. “No, seriously, I don’t understand, what did I do?” He dared to ask.

  “You’re off breaking hearts, like normal.” Silver muttered. Sonic got even more puzzled. Silver sighed. “You hurt little Amy’s heart, Sonic. The little cinnamon roll doesn’t deserve this. We all know you like her, you ain’t fooling anyone.” Silver was right, but Sonic’s ego didn’t want to admit that.

  “He’s right, Sonic. Ya’ know, she’s been having suicidal thoughts lately.” Lyra lied. Lyra was right tho-WAIT, WHAT WAS SHE DOING IN THIS CONVERSATION?!

 “Pegs, this is a boy conversation, stay out of it.” Shadow told Lyra. She muttered some profanities at him, and he only smirked.

 “PEGS? What the hell are you doing to my sister?! Why the hell have you given her a name that doesn’t even suit her and doesn’t even relate to her?!”

  “Relax, Faker. Let your sister date whoever she wants. She won’t let me flirt with her. Focus on your own girl.”

- WITH THE GIRLS~~~~~~~

 “Why don’t we hook you up with someone, hmm? I hear Shadow’s fre-”

 “Fuck no.” Lyra and Amy said simultaneously.

 “No offense, Rouge, but I don’t think I’m interested in dating or having a fling with anyone. My heart’s stuck with someone who could possibly be attracted to boys-” Amy’s comment was interrupted by a loud snort by Lyra.

 “What do you mean, could possibly be attracted to boys? I hope you’re not mistaking Silver as Sonic.” As Rouge said that, Blaze scowled at her friend. Rouge thought for a moment, not acknowledging the fact that Blaze was burning imaginary holes through her head. Rouge gasped and ran over to Knuckles and whispered something into his ear. He did a small nod to his girlfriend.

 “Oh, Shadow! Silver! There’s this new spirytus bottle that I’ve been dying to try out.” And with that, he dragged Shadow and Silver out of the scene.

 “Oh, I think we should do the same! Right Lyra, and Blaze? Amy, you stay here, I know you get a little tipsy you get after a strong drink. You even flirt with boys when you’re in that state.” That one comment made Sonic snap his head towards Amy. Amy mentally facepalmed. Sonic’s not happy. AT. ALL. Rouge dragged the two away from the oblivious hedgehogs.

  “So...you’re sixteen, and you’re drinking. And it’s obviously not your first time. Am I right.” Amy stayed silent. She just wanted to melt into the ground, not wanting to listen to the useless shit that the guy who ruined her life was spitting out.

  “Why do you always try to find other guys?” This really made Amy snap. She stood up, giving Sonic a chance to scan her figure very quickly without her realizing. No wonder he’s called the fastest thing alive, am I right? Amy gave herself a few minutes to regain her posture because she was a bit drunk.

 “Now listen here, y-you ass-napkin! I hate being treated like I’m not allowed to date other people, when I am. So, stop it. You have no right to tell me what I can or cannot do. Just don’t talk to me Sonic the Hedgehog. Stay away from me, and don’t talk to me.” She straightened out her posture, and before walking away, she said something that made Sonic truly feel like an ass-napkin. “Do you realize how much I love you?” A hand grabbed Amy’s waist, and pulled her to their chest. She tried squirming out, but the person wouldn’t budge. She took in the scent of the person, and stopped. It was Sonic.

He leaned down, and captured her lips in his own, even though she wasn’t kissing back. He kissed harder, and Amy had no choice but to give in. She decided to take advantage of the moment, and to take as much as she possibly could. In the background, Lyra and Rouge were fangirling, Blaze was recording a video, and the boys were silently cheering Sonic on.

    “The reason I keep you away from dating other boys is because I want to. Seeing you with other boys internally hurts me, that’s why I’m so protective of you. But, I’m too shy to confess my feelings to you. I just want to keep you safe.” Amy smirked.

   “You’re not shy, Mr. the Hedgehog. You’re just afraid it’ll cause a huge damage to that oversized ego of yours. Go choke on a peanut or something.” Lyra yelled “HEY!” at Amy because that was usually her line. “But, I no matter what I do, I just can’t get my mind off you. Frick that rhymes.” Amy looks over to the fourth wall, where the author is sitting. (”Sorry for that unintentional rhyme, I don’t want to change it.”)

    “Sorry Ames. I just love you too much to let you go. I want you to be mine, but...I just want to run, too.” Sonic put his head down. Amy rolled her eyes.

    “Enough with the cheesiness, Sonic. It’s soooo not you. First of all, it wasn’t so hard to confess, was it? Second of all, I won’t tie you down. All I want is for you to be happy, and I know that running makes you happy. So whenever you’re with me, and you feel like running, don’t hold it in. Just go.” Amy said calmly. Sonic grew excited and kissed her again. His confident signature smirk was back, and he looked down at his new girlfriend.

     “So, there’s no way I’m letting you get away with wearing that outfit, missy.” Sonic said smugly. He picked Amy up bridal style and ran to her house.

Well, if the comics are gonna continue why not let these two meet?

Let's pretend that IDW hired me to write a script for a crossover between My Little Pony and Sonic the Hedgehog. Can this actually happen? Well on the Middle Ground we do host Ghost of the Future by Evan Stanley. But that would be like Rooster Teeth hiring me to write an episode of Red Vs Blue because I'm a researcher of Death Battle. Chances are very, VERY small. But in this hypothetical situation, what if I get that shot. For this crossover I'll be following the guidelines of how I presume what Sega allows for IDW. I'm also going to ignore the comics from both sides since I'm going with the assumption people are going to buy this because its a crossover and not because they're fans of said comics. And this will be basically the ideas behind it, nothing concrete. It'll take place after the Coordination and Sonic Forces.

Issue 1 – The Set Up

It begins with Eggman working on a portal with the Chaos Emeralds. Sonic and crew (this being Tails, Knuckles and Amy) coming in to stop him. In one last attack, Sonic knocked Eggman with Cubot and Orbot into the portal, which explodes. Sonic looks worried but Tails reminded him that he was in a similar situation way back and came back. So this isn't likely the last time they've seen him. On the other side, Eggman turns out to be in Discord's realm. Seeing his computers picking up nothing but Chaos Energy all around him, he begins his next big plan. A few moons later, Discord and Fluttershy were having a tea party. Discord doing his usual thing. But the things he creates don't seem to have the same energy they used to. Worried, Fluttershy suggest they go to see Princess Twilight. (Since Discord's realm is so big and he just teleports from his house to anywhere, I doubt he would notice Eggman.)

At the same time, Sonic has been a little restless since there's still no sign of Eggman. Tails told him to relax when Rouge comes in. She asked for their help with Shadow, who is not feeling 100%. When they get there, Shadow still acts cocky but Tails uses his technology to discover Shadow's Chaos Energy is diminishing. If it keeps going like it, he will lose everything. Sonic then makes the connection that Eggman maybe behind this. He's hiding in some dimension where he's draining the Chaos Energy and is likely planning something bigger. So they vow to find Eggman and stop his latest plan. In the Pony World, Twilight discovers the same thing is happening with Discord. And if he doesn't have Chaos Energy, he's going to disappear (like in Discordant Harmony). Discord still has enough magic (with the help from Twilight) to open a portal to his world. Twilight thinks this is something the entire crew have to take care of.

In Sonic's World, Tails manages to recreate the machine and use the Chaos Emeralds as well as a bunch of generators to open the portal to the Chaos Realm. Sonic, Shadow, Amy, Knuckles and Tails will go in to solve the problem while Rogue, Omega and Cream make sure the portal stays open for as long as it can. Because if it closes, its likely they may not come back. With the Ponies, the Main Six are gathered and Twilight and Discord opens the portal. Discord is going to stay behind because as soon as they fix it he can open it again without trouble. Twilight has delegates to keep watch of Canterlot while she's away. Because whatever is happening to Discord can possibly affect all of Equestria. So Twilight, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Applejack, Pinkie Pie and Spike enter into the Chaos Realm. And as soon as they get in, they are right across Team Sonic.

Issue 2 – The Fight

Before the comic, you see a random city background. Then suddenly a big crack appeared. Back in the Chaos Realm, Applejack wonders if those creatures are normal for this world. Fluttershy, who frequently visits Discord, never seen them before in her life. Tails scans them and finds that the seven creatures have the exact opposite frequency of the Chaos Emeralds. That's more than enough for Shadow to go for an attack on them. Shadow goes for a kick but Applejack dodges. This begins the two sides fighting each other. They fight randomly until eventually the party splits up. Sonic takes on Rainbow Dash and after some impressive speed feats one is impressed with the other. Rainbow Dash is impressed someone could keep up with her and says its a shame he can't fly. Sonic then does an impressive stunt and tells her that even without wings, he can still fly.

Tails and Twilight are opponents and while they seem to have a battle of blasts, the fight eventually ends with Twilight commenting on Tails technology. To her, its all theoretical but Tails begins to talk about how it can be done. Applejack takes on Knuckles and between the two of them they're too stubborn to stop fighting each other. Fluttershy, since she's free, is the one who convinces the two of them to stop fighting. Amy takes on Rarity and Spike and she does pretty well against them. Their fight stops when Rarity begins to compliment Amy's outfit. She's flattered and even is open to having modifications done by Rarity. That leaves Shadow to take on Pinkie Pie. Between her own randomness and Shadow's weakened state, he doesn't do well against her. Luckily before he can manage to land a blow, Sonic stopped him. By this point, they got a better understanding of each other and stopped fighting. Shadow reluctantly doing so.

They begin to introduce themselves to each other and agree to work together. Meanwhile Eggman had his security system notice the newly formed team. Eggman has no real concern, but feels he should do something about it. Since he controls the Chaos Energy, he's using Discord's powers to create an army of robots instantly. Cubot and Orbot finds a journal that they think Eggman would like. In it is Discord's plans for Season 9. So with this information, he creates three Metal Versions of Chrysalis, Sombra and Tirek. He gives his three new generals a small army of Badniks and command them to destroy Sonic and his friends. Fluttershy leads the group as they continue to exchange information. Pinkie Pie wonders how one guy can control Discord's Magic and Sonic tells her that Eggman has a lot of experience with Chaos Energy. Then the Metal Villains attacked.

Issue 3 – The Mid-Bosses

Before the comic, a bunch of random islands background. Another big crack appears. Back in the Chaos Realm, the three Metal Villains attack. Metal Chrysalis has her changeling powers, but its more like transformers than magic. And instead of changing into others, she changes into various parts of Eggman robots. Twilight, Spike, Amy and Tails take her on. Spike, Amy and Twilight provide cover as Tails try to hack her. Metal Chrysalis realizes the plan and tries to attack Tails. Twilight stops her with her magic. She's struggles as Tails tries his best to break through her programming. Sadly, its in a chaotic mess and he can't find any sense in it. Before Twilight could lose her hold, Amy jumps on Metal Chrysalis and decides to smash her head off her body. Metal Chrysalis is defeated.

Metal Tirek instead of absorbing Magic he absorbs life energy. Rarity, Knuckles, Applejack and Pinkie Pie take him on. He grabs Pinkie and slowly drains her life energy but a combined punch/kick from Knuckles and Applejack stopped that and restored her. Rarity notices the details of Metal Tirek's designs and instructs the two Muscles to target those parts. They happen to be weak points that help take down the machine. Metal Sombra is basically Sombra. Sonic, Rainbow Dash, Shadow and Fluttershy take him on. To deal with the smoke, Sonic and Rainbow Dash uses their speed to keep him solidified. And with a combination Light Speed Dash and Sonic Rainboom, Sonic and Rainbow destroy Metal Sombra. Shadow wanted to fight but he is growing weaker, so Fluttershy kept an eye on him.

Eggman sees the machines did their jobs: they distracted them long enough for him to complete his latest invention: the Egg Draconequus. With it, he'll finish absorbing all the Chaos Energy in the realm and use it to conquer his world. And eventually all other worlds. The others recover from the attack and try to come up with a strategy. But then they begin to notice the cracks forming around the realm. Twilight theorizes that since Eggman is messing with the Chaos Energy its affecting not only their Chaos Fueled Friends but also other worlds. If they don't stop Eggman, other worlds will be messed up or even destroyed. With this knowledge, they resolve to stop Eggman. Shame for them that they're suddenly teleported to Eggman in his now completed Egg Draconequus.

Issue 4 – The Final Boss

Random locations, cracks shown. In the Chaos Realm, Eggman begins to show off his powers. He removes the wings and horns off the ponies and Spike, the tails off Tails, makes the hammer too heavy for Amy, Knuckles into a paper cut out (think Thanos to Drax in Infinity War) and Sonic, Shadow and the Earth Ponies stuck in something sticky. Eggman continues to boast saying he is truly unstoppable. But Twilight tells him a friendship speech that activates their Inate Elements of Harmony Powers. With those powers activated, everyone is restored to normal. But that doesn't stop Eggman. If he can't control them, he'll destroy them. This leads to a comic long fight between Eggman and the Heroes, with Eggman eventually getting the upper hand. After getting them all in one spot, Eggman goes for one last blast. But to his surprise it was stopped.

The heroes were protected by a Diamond Shield. The Equestrian Girls Seven (in their human forms) showed up to help. They're not the only ones as Blaze also arrives to attack Eggman's Machine. The comic ends with a splash page of all the Heroes united.

Classic Dimension – They got to have some representation since we're going to have the Classic Generation of Ponies. But if not...

IDW Sonic – Whisper and Tangle to represent the IDW Sonic Comics.

MLP Generation 2 – They don't really have a canon. They just have one PC Game. And even ignoring that, that'll give MLP one more dimension unless we include...

Sonic Boom – For some reason, Sega doesn't want to reference this in IDW. So I doubt they'll allow it.

SatAM – As in just SatAM and not Archie. Super doubtful they'll allow this to be referenced again.

Issue 5 – Endgame

All of them fighting the Egg Draconequus. Insert various interactions between generations and interdimensional pairings. Twilight eventually realizing that their best chance is to combine the Magic of Friendship to overcome the Chaos Energy. So the Main Six and the EQ Seven combine their Magic for one blast. But Eggman counters and the two are in a beam struggle. Tails then realize that just because Eggman's machine is absorbing Chaos Energy doesn't mean no one else can use it. So he gets Sonic, Shadow and anyone capable of using Chaos Energy to absorb as much as they can. So we get a bunch of Super Forms from the Sonic Side and Burning Blaze for good measure. With their combined power, alongside the Magic of Friendship, they defeat Eggman. The Main Six offer to give him the stone treatment, but Sonic refuses. Eggman is their problem and they should be the ones to deal with it.

It ends with each pairing giving a goodbye. Sonic saying they hope to meet again and Twilight assuring friendship will last.

And these are my ideas for a proposed IDW Crossover between MLP and Sonic. Think it would work? Do you have better ideas?

I have seen you in the past make some valid criticisms on Amy and Cream's relationship. I agree with a lot them, as much as I like Cream's character. Though I can't help but wonder... How would you react if Amy got her own "Knuckles"? (...Tiara Boobowski perhaps? Lol) Just curious, do you think that would be stretching it, or does it have potential to do what Amy's relationship to Cream did not do for you?

I understand why people like Cream (her design is one of the cutest and could easily fit even in the classic era) and do think that the character has potential to be a friend of Amy and other characters.

The thing is that Sonic Team fell for the trap of assuming that just because she is very young, she works as a moran compass like Amy, which I don’t like because it both takes away from Amy and also restricts Cream from being a more unique character.

At the tender age of 6, I think that Cream would had worked better as a character that is trying to understand the world around her and constantly makes questions to saciate her curiosity.

Where Amy understands people because she feels empathy for others and has a sharp insight that lets her spot the goodness in those who took a bad turn in life and/or realize that they are troubled by inner conflict, I think Cream would instead question them about the "why" and make these characters realize the true nature of their actions... Instead, ST simply made Cream a watered down Amy 2.0.

The other issue is how could they highlight the best part of their respective characters? For example, Sonic shows Tails that his twin tails that others see as a birth defect are actually something that makes him special, while through Tails admiration we see that Sonic is a cool guy and compassionate because he "adopted" the little boy that everyone else movked as his little brother. For Amy and Cream to really sell their friendship as more than shallow fluff, it needs to achieve the same things, like Cream admiring Amy because despite having no super powers, she is a very brave and strong heroine, while Amy helps Cream truly be herself (I personally don't like the idea of Cream being super perfectly polite since that's more a one-note stereotype than a multi-dimensional character) instead of acting like a perfect princess to meets her mother's expectations and have a normal and happy childhood.

About Amy having her own "Knuckles", it can work both ways. The Archie comics showed that she can understand Knuckles and bond as friends... in a way becoming his "Knuckles Jr" since both are strong and have a fiery temper (though Knuckles is more Donald Duck like while Amy is kind of between Daisy Duck and Cindy Bear (the girl after Yogi Bear's affection)

I think her "Knuckles" could be Rouge, though with a twist: where Sonic can win over Knuckles, here it's Rouge who would often have the upper hand and do the teasing and even trolling on the pink gerbil. However, they can also team up and work together because while Amy is the "cute, good girl" and Rouge is the "bad girl" with some femme fatale traits, they both share common groun in that they both care for their friends, even if they show this differently.

As for whom I think could be her girl equivalent of BroTP, that would be Blaze. The cat princess does not show her emotions due to her duty and keeping a strong image in order to not appear weak before her enemies, but deep down, she probably wants to be able to do so given how impressed she was by Amy being so open and straightforward about them. Anyone who has seen the anime Diebuster by Gainax can see that the dynamic between Blaze and Amy would easily mirror that of the serious and reserved Lal'C and the bubbly and cheerful Nono. Heck, their special victory animation in the olympics games where Amy hugs Blaze reminded me of that OVA since at first, Lal'C resists and finds Nono to be dumb and annoying, but eventually warms up and opens up. I can really see Blaze and Amy having a similar platonic bond that makes men shed tears when they have to be separated. XD
