“Aang probably spent more time with Tenzin because Tenzin was the only airbender among his children, which meant that Tenzin would one day be responsible for passing on all airbender teachings to the next generation, and also because he was Tenzin’s airbending teacher, and maybe this made Kya and Bumi feel left out, which hurt them even if they knew why it was happening” and “Aang loved all of his children equally and was equally proud of and loving towards all of them” are two statements that can and should coexist

Found this on Reddit and now I’m crying.
1.Bumi he was always proud of you so stfu ok.
2. I bet Bumi excelled. He must’ve known some stuff from watching his brother and dad practice. And probably tried countless times to airbend for his dad when he was a child.
3. Even if he wasn’t a bender I am confident Sokka taught him boomerang and sword stuff while fire lady Mai taught him to throw knives.
4. Bumi, you were always part of the air nation ok
ALSO THIS IS SO CUTE, IS THERE A FIC?!

I've been rewatching Legend of Korra and I have to admit....
Bumi is one good looking man (and way better than tenzin tbh.)

I love the implication that all of Bumi's stories were true, based on the fact he really did take down an entire encampment with nothing but a flute

Make Rohan a Bender but NOT an AIRBENDER
I know Pema wants Rohan to be a non-bender like her. But what would be cool is if he turned out to be a WATERBENDER.
Imagine how happy Katara would be! Kya it seems will never settle down and give Katara a grandkid. And Bumi became an airbender due to that dumb harmonic convergence crap (screw Korra btw). Rohan being a waterbender would force Tenzin to acknowledge the water tribe part of his heritage for once! Also maybe Katara could teach Rohan too :). Katara deserves to have a waterbending grandkid damnit and to be more involved in her own freaking family! Give LOK Katara some love please!

I love the idea of Bumi II being aroace. 🧡💛🤍🩵💙
I like the idea that he defies expectations just by being himself.
I like thinking that this sailor/soldier and world-famous-nepo-baby DOESN’T have a lover waiting for him at every port. And that his wild adventure stories are never a seduction tactic… they just are!
And sure there’s the obvious source of angst: “The firstborn child of the Avatar and the last Waterbender of the SWT (two of the strongest benders in the world) turns out to be a Non-Bender.” … but there’s also the implied angst: The likelihood of Bumi II wanting to produce children that are SWT benders or that carry Airbender genetics/Air-Nomad heritage is lower.
Im just saying… with how much time Katara and Aang spend in their tweenage hormones throughout ATLA … it’d be ironic if their first kid was just unconcerned with all that mess.

some VERY rough sketches i made of bumi through the years.
probably not final designs, but i really like to think as he entered his 40s he leaned into the manly man wild man aura and his beard helped him score many dates. before that he still went for the dashing young man aura.

The new A:TLA reminds me
I was way more interested in the Gaang’s children than I ever was in Korra and her friends, and I was honestly disappointed when I first saw that LOK would have the next generation be middle-aged.
We got so little of them as kids and teenagers, too! All the flashbacks involving Lin and Suyin were just building up to a traumatic moment where Toph is corrupt for a day, and the fanart I’ve seen of the Gaang kids is so good that I wish we focused on them instead of Korra. I mean, I understand it’s meant to be about the reincarnation of the Avatar, but Aang was already such a great character and for him to die years before the events of the series began was sad.
We barely saw any of Sokka as an adult, and we don’t really know how his relationship with Suki went. We don’t know how Suyin turned into a little shit when her mother was the literal chief of police, or how people treated Bumi because he couldn’t bend. The fandom is split down the middle about how Aang was as a father, where some believe he was awful and blatantly favored Tenzin and the others think he was great for, I don’t know, some reason.
And I’m super upset we didn’t get to see Zuko and Mai overcome their childhood issues to raise their daughter and break the cycle of abuse. Why the Hell couldn’t we see any of that?
