Eddie Munson has always loathed Valentine’s Day.  

A skeptic by nature, cynic by choice, and pessimist by way of personal experience, he’s never been one for the red and pink hearts, the teddy bears, the chocolates and flowers. He’s only ever had one Valentine: Greg Portia in the seventh grade. Greg got a handmade card and gimp bracelet he’d made with painstaking care, while Eddie got a silver skull ring from a gumball machine and a hug in the abandoned, poorly trafficked stairwell. A week later though, Eddie found the gimp bracelet left in his locker with a break-up note, ending a relationship Eddie hadn’t even registered as a relationship until it was over. Greg never hugged him again. 

It’s not something that Eddie thinks about often, but he does think about the pattern that’s emerged since: short-lived relationships that are over before they even really start, so Valentine’s Day just doesn’t mean anything to him. As far as Eddie’s concerned, Cupid is just another myth weaponized by Hallmark to make a quick buck and he’ll have no part of it, thank you very much.

In fact, the only reason he’s subjecting himself to the horror of the bar's annual Valentine’s Day Emo Night is to avoid witnessing Gareth and Chrissy’s rather excessive displays of affection. Watching Gareth stare aimlessly at the aisles upon aisles of kitschy cards with red envelopes in their local Walmart had been more than enough. 

And if he’s honest with himself, maybe he also left for the night to avoid the green monster that curls up in his chest when he’s reminded that love is out there, and it just hasn’t chosen him. But he’s not looking for honesty tonight, just a distraction and a drink or two, so he claims a hightop for himself in the corner of the bar and people-watches. 

It’s poor planning on his part, all but a few couples looking either entirely enamored or happily tipsy, and he’s just about to cut his losses and summon an Uber when he sees a man walking towards him. Bathed in the lights that swirl and strobe around the bar, he looks damn near ethereal, a heralding of some kind of… well, Eddie didn’t pay much attention to his Uncle when he talked about the Bible but he’s sure there’s something in there that could’ve described The Man better than his own feeble words could. 

A red tee-shirt hugs The Man’s chest in all the best ways, ways that leave little to Eddie’s imagination besides what he’d like to do should the offending shirt disappear, and a black and red plaid fleece hangs over his shoulders. Black jeans cuffed at the ankle and white sneakers cap off the ensemble, and Eddie’s too intrigued by the smile that’s somehow both confident and shy when they make brief eye contact to care that he clearly is very into Valentine’s Day. So understandably, he’s a bit stung when The Man bypasses his table in favor of the bathroom. 

Shit, Eddie thinks, sinking back against his chair, not realizing that he’d literally leaned forward to stare like an idiot. He turns back to his phone and scrolls back to Uber. Somehow, in the minute that’s passed since closing the app, all of the prices shoot up and he groans to himself. Insult to injury, Eddie thinks.

The song changes to something less pop-punk and more punk-punk, so he bobs his head up and down as he considers how terrible walking back to his apartment would be. Or maybe there’s another bar nearby? A diner? Maybe I can convince someone to give me a free omelet if I look sad enough– 

Eddie’s thought process is cut off by the sound of a chair scraping against the concrete floor, and The Man slowly comes back into focus as he saddles up beside him. 

“I couldn’t help but notice you’re sitting over here alone, and that just doesn’t make any sense to me.”

it's the grunge, rockstar coded beomgyu layout that screams drawing pins by nothing but thieves but i also might be projecting on that one (maybe it's also because ik she loves nana too). but her writing is a lot less rough around the edges! it's very sweet and almost like a youthful romantic (? if that makes any sense) so i would say love by hathaw9y !

What you think about Hondo and do ship him with someone?

HONDO MENTIONED EVERYBODY CHEER !!! i love that particularly wobbly-kneed wide-eyed man 🩷 i think he's absolutely adorable but also his title defense fight is harder than TD Sandman and u can argue with me all u want . my loss record to this man is higher than my losses against TD Bull ....... anyway UNFORTUNATELY im the most basic of the basic, im a sucker for Hondo and Hugger 🥹 not only do their interests match well but i think they would teach each other different things they wouldn't except to learn without each other. Piston would probably teach Hugger better table manners, Hugger would teach Hondo how to make baked goods, and i think they'd both take the fattest naps together after long days spent hustling outside 🩷 and i think overall their dynamic is just so sweet and their personalities balance one another out

As for the SLIGHTLY less basic one i think Sandman and Piston as either friendship or actual relationship is super cute too. they're both very similar in terms of loss ethic (have u SEEN how mad Hondo looks after u beat him in TD and Sandman's look at the cam ....) and general ethics, and i think they're both extremely respectful and calm despite their characters in the ring. they'd probably make dinner for each other and cook slightly unsavory versions of one another's respective comfort meals bcuz they don't know the full list of ingredients and measurements but they love it anyway for the sentiment 😭 they would take walks around the park together and they both most definitely have soft spots for stray cats

all in all I LOVE PISTON HONDO and i would actually love 2 hear more headcanons about him cuz i want to think about him deeper and love him more !! i apologize for the basic response but it's true 2 me ,, thank u 4 asking 🩷🩷

“God, you’re being so stubborn.” Her hand forced its way between them and gripped him through his pants, hips rocking desperately against him again. “I’m being stubborn?” A low whisper was all she could manage, mouth parted with her soft breaths as they finally paused the assault on each other. “Stubborn, obstinate, ornery, singleminded,” he listed, his words trailing off in a groan as she ran her finger along the front of his uniform pants.

Rain (Things We Can't Untie, Star Trek: Voyager)

It took an additional three hours before they were free. PADDs were signed and testimonies recorded, ending in a few mild warnings but mostly pardons and congratulations. Jellico remained quiet even as Kathryn led Chakotay out of Headquarters and into the rainy February afternoon. The sun was hidden by thick clouds and fog was starting to roll in off the ocean, mixing with the misty rain to make a bleak view. Despite it, a small smile rested on Kathryn’s lips; she could taste the saltwater when she licked her lips.

Discovery (I'll Never Speak to the Gods Again, BSG)

She licked her lips but couldn't vocalize a response. The guilty feeling she had grown used to since Earth’s discovery reignited in her stomach and expanded, tendrils creeping up into her chest and throat until she felt like she would choke if she tried to respond. The walls moved again, pushing closer and closer with the threat of squeezing her to death looming in the dim lighting.

Minute (Into The Day, Major Crimes)

“Get out.” The warning in her voice was clear and she pushed herself to her feet. He had the height advantage, but the look in her eyes still stopped him cold. “We will resume this Monday morning and if you are even one minute late, Lieutenant, I’ll make sure you’re chained to a desk.” She pushed her chair in and started gathering her stuff, well aware he hadn’t even moved. When she had her purse over her shoulder and her coffee thermos, she finally looked at him again. “Lieutenant Flynn, get out of my office immediately!” Her voice rose, just enough to get his attention.

Apparently I don't use any version of the word "discover" very often in my fics.... An interesting realization, to be sure. Anyway, I'm excited to pass this fun along and if you're inclined, feel free to send more words my way!

1. Between 7 and 5, who did you bias first?

Hui! Pentagon was a group that I found very early on. My sister actually told me about them when she heard I got into kpop. I guess someone in one of her college art classes did a project based on them. Well I watched the Basquiat video and then Hui talking about writing the song and it was over for me.

2. Between 2 and 6, who are you more attached to?

I love Dann, but I think we all know that the answer is Taeyong 😂 he’s my cancer sun, pisces rising, back problems having buddy and he’s very very special to me.

3. If you were to spend the day with either 3 or 1, who would you choose and what would you do?

Oh my GOD this is so hard cuz like if I hung out with Taemin we would play with his cats and maybe sing and play piano together, but if I hung out with Hongjoong we could write and record songs together and do arts and crafts 😭

I feel like I’d be SLIGHTLY less nervous/intimidated to hang out with Hongjoong just because I’m a little older than him and he just seems so smol, but Taemin is Taemin so like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

4. What is your favorite physical feature about 9?

I am a BIG Soobin dimples fan. I mean look at him 😭

5. What is your favorite part of 6's personality?

I started learning more about Kingdom’s personalities recently, and I love how Dann is like, a little weird (the spam/bam obsession? Adorable) and is very obviously the bullied but loved leader. One of my absolute favorite things tho is that he seems like he’s ready to fight his members at any given moment. Like all the clips I’ve seen are the members (mostly Louis?) teasing him and he just goes “Cut the cameras” and then the cameras cut with him mid swing 😂

6. If you were to tell 8 anything you wanted, what would you tell them?

Oh Heejae, I feel like I have so many things I’d want to say but trying to put them all into words is hard. I’d tell him how proud I am of him for not giving up. That he’s worked so hard and done well and deserves all of the good and success that’s coming his way now. That it’s okay that he was afraid to sing when he was in Masc, but he needs to know that he was so talented then and he’s only grown and developed that talent into something even more incredible. That he’s wonderfully weird and that just seeing his beautiful smile brightens my day. I’d want to thank him for giving me strength and inspiration to not give up on the things I care about and the dreams I have.

7. Between 1 and 2, whose closet would you raid?

Both! I love edgy, plays with gender fashion, but also I love comfy clothes. Sorry Taeyong, I will not be borrowing any of your giant shoes tho 😅

8. What is a style that you want to see 3 try?

Hmmm idk about a new style, but I’d love to see Hongjoong continue wearing more alternative/edgy and androgynous fashion like in his Numb cover video. Yeah, give me Grungejoong or Punkjoong any day of the week.

9. Between 5 and 4, who are you closer to in height?

Lmao I’m closest to Bang Chan, but I’m 5’6, Bang Chan is 5’7, and Hui is 5’8 so there’s not that big of a difference!

10. Between 10 and 9, whose music do you like the best?

Oh gosh TXT and Seventeen… how the hell am I supposed to choose? I haven’t heard full discographies for either, but I really love what I’ve heard from them. Technically I’ve like more Seventeen songs on Spotify (though that could be because I’ve heard more of their music), but TXT ended up on my top songs for the first half of 2023 list. They’re both too good!

if you could move to any city in the world (without having to worry about rent or cost of living at all, like assume you're suddenly rich with no other responsibilities) where would you move?

hmmmm i have several answers to this

the realistic answer is i'd want to move home to San Antonio and just enjoy being in my favorite city without having to worry about like finding a job

if i chose a different us city, i'd want one with a lot of history i think? not new york because it's too busting for me. I'd want to go to like Charlotte, NC or Savanah, GA because i love the idea of being surrounded by history.

If i chose somewhere outside the us, I'd probably choose Seoul because I just think it's a beautiful place and I've always wanted to go!!

But also if i had no money to worry about i'd want to travel everywhere because i want to see so many places !!!!
