The dog huffed and walked over to the kitchen and lay down by the stove for warmth.

The Wizard walked over and packed his pipe with some herbs. Sitting on his stained old wooden chair with the old pillow on it, He lit the pipe as he used his magic to make himself a coffee while he smokes his pipe.

Wiztober Day 23: Silent Disco

ok I feel I must explain this one so I headcanon that after learning shadow magic the wizard is uncanny in a mildly unsettling way (when we first interact with a boss with it we do mention the room is shifting so) and I keep thinking about that one post about us beating up duncan and coming back so I decided to make an amalgamation of that where we are fighting at the disco and the silence comes from the threatening presence of the wizard and the tension !

The only thing that could ever bring a true hermit wizard #to engage with others socially is the prospect of connecting it somehow to fantasy worlds and costumes lol. The main food that I made for the elderly elf man 'party'. which was a Deconstructed Beef Wellington (kind of as ajoke since I watch s #o many silly cooking competition shows and they always make stuff 'deconstructed' at the last minute when under time limits or whatever.) #I've wanted to make beef wellington a few times but Ithink to do it well I'd need like..an actual kitchen and a lot of time and #an oven that fully works to bake things and etc. etc. So I thought this would be an easier method. A thick steak cut round to kind of mimi #c the round tenderloin or whatever it is in a wellington. instead of the puff pastry being wrapped around - I just did star shaped cut outs #of pastry and baked them and put them on top (to go with the star theme). instead of mushroom duxelles being wrapped around in pastry #its in a little circle under the steak. and instead of mustard being brushed onto the meat I made a mustard gravy sauce type of thing #Then of course asparagus on the side.. my favorite... Though I know some wellington #also has a layer of prosciutto I think. or I saw one person use crepes. I didn't feel it was necessary to incorporate that too lol #8. bapy son helping me do a giant puzzle that took me hours and I had no idea it was actually that large of a puzzle #until I started putting it together and for some reason it made me stressed by the end instead of relaxed lol.. puzzle fatigue #photo diary

Early in the morning the Wizard rises. Brewing his coffee and begining his research.

The new herbs he procured from the wilds have dried sufficiently and he begins to grind the leaves in his Mortar and Pestle.

Placing the ground concoction on a small metal plate, the Wizard lowers a glass bowl over the plate.

The fumes collect and travel along tubes to a small bag of sorts. The bag inflates but also shrinks at the same time, as smoke is poured into it.

The Wizard detaches the bag and breathes deeply as the sweet citrus smell rushes him, coating his world in its smell. He retreats from the bag to his chair, exhaling he begins to cough.

"Holy SHIT! That's a rather fine herb I've found. I must cultivate more for 'research purposes'."

His familiar, a reanimated dog with the mind of his childhood friend, stares at him with condemnation.

"Oh, don't look at me like that Frankie you judgemental prick. You used to smoke more than anyone." Said the Wizard, sneering at his familiar.

The Wizard rose and got his coffee then walked over to his desk and pulled a book from the shelf near the fireplace.

As it lazily floated towards him the Wizard sipped his coffee, "oooo, I needed that." He said as the book rested in front of him and turned to the page he was reading.

Look At Me #i also really enjoy playing nonreligious characters in these worlds where deities 100% exist not in a 'fuck the gods' way but in #a way somewhere between 'i'm all i need' and 'i called and no one answered' and 'may or may not go on an insane power hungry spiral and #try to get a touch of godhood' which is in part very due to my own agnostic and people-loving heart and 'haha what if i icarused this girl' #a resentful caution towards gods an immense respect towards religious companions and 'when your god isn't here to help. i will be' #anyway REACTION arcane ward you don't take damage im fine. next turn reaction shield ward's back up. the thing is. #she will drive her hp down. the ward isn't much like it goes past that temp hp. it's 14hp that shit goes down and carries to her hp #but it never drops. any leveled spell puts hp back into the ward. a 1st lvl shield puts it at 2hp and she can use it again #she is not suited for these conditions but my god it is fun to watch. i care her. #i explained that subclass feature to a player that's not in that campaign and said. like. yeah she can take damage. when her ward drops to #0 it carries to her. any leveled abj spell puts it back up. and she can use it and drive her hp down again. #do u understand what i am explaining to u! do you get it! she is and has always been a punching bag! #she was a very valuable asset to the army and the group she was drafted! into. because when she's there. people just don't fucking go down #aside from her. aside from her. Speaking of Blue Caste sorcerers full disclosure I have definitely not done all the quests that deal with them so disregard this if there's something in the game that contradicts it. But IIRC Tolkien wrote in a letter that after the two Blue Wizards went to the East and never returned, they eventually fell and led Sauron-worshipping cults there. Not strictly canon since it's outside the books, but clearly what was intended. (It seems to me that this was also meant to have something to do with Saruman's fall, as he went with them to the East but returned soon after. Perhaps the three of them were caught in some trap that planted the wrong sort of seeds in all of their minds.)

I think it's clear that these Easterling sorcerers are meant to be associated with the Blue Wizards in some way -- perhaps members of an order that they founded or something.

I doubt it will come up anytime soon, but I do hope LotRO ends up fleshing that out and having an expansion in that direction.
