WHO WANTS TO SEE AN ORIGINAL AU I MADE

It starts with a headache

And you never have a good dream ever again

AU: Nightmare Eyes (it's an original concept story/comic I've worked on over the years and I think it's fun to through it onto new fixations I have and see how it would work depending on the character)

It's a creature/parasite that latches onto a host and co-exists with the person. It manifests in different ways depending on person to person.

There's lots of good that come with it:

-Ramon can fly now using his nightmare nymph wings -Ramon's punches/kicks are ever stronger now and have a little bit of armor -He can turn it into inanimate objects, right now he can do hair ties and small bits of rope (he's kind of bad at it still)

But there's plenty of bad

-Ramon can no longer have good dreams. Only bad ones and nightmares. (being the hero who once protected the glade of dream losing the ability to dream? that's rough buddy) -The eyes don't always listen

But Ramon's navigating through it, and he's not alone. He's gonna try and do some good with it, the small victories feel the biggest

Listen. I know she's dead by the start of season two (I'm assuming, I haven't seen past episode one), I know she's only a minor secondary character, I know she's just a love interest (to another minor character I might add) who doesn't have a huge amount of depth.

But Agnes from season 1 of Umbrella Academy means so fucking much to me.

Here's the thing. Agnes isn't young. She's maybe somewhere between sixty and seventy (I'm guessing, I'm ngl I'm not great at telling people's ages from looking at them lol).

You might call her old. Except the show really challenges that. Is Agnes old? She's so bright and full of life, she's one of the most upbeat and positive characters in the season. She's not unhappy, but she's not satisfied in life. Her story plays out like a romance novel where the 20 yr old Mary Sue protagonist runs away with her boyfriend to live a life on the run and finally finds herself.

She has such a youthful story and character. And it makes you think. Is Agnes old? Again, yes, she's dead by season 2, but hypothetically she has a good bit of time left. She got another 20 years. And she was (presumably) very happy.

Agnes' life didn't end after she turned thirty. Or fourty. Or even fifty. Agnes has the best and most chaotic time of her life at ~60 yrs old.

And the show never brings up the fact that she's an older woman. It's never an issue of contention, she doesn't struggle with it, she's not depressed that she's still making doughnuts and being a waitress at her age.

She's quietly positive that life still has a lot to show her. She's still happy, and fighting to have the life she wants. Agnes is still living.

And fuck I appreciate it so much. She's my favourite Umbrella Academy character. She's an absolute breath of fresh air, and the fact that she's a minor character somehow makes it all the better.

Because Agnes would have been so easy to write as a sad old woman who never had the life she wanted and who is depressed about her age, who was crazy in her youth and then lost her spark, and regains it only for a second before fading from the narrative and dying.

But Agnes isn't any of that. She's her own person, she follows Hazel because she wants to and because she's secure enough in herself to know exactly what she wants, not because she's insecure and desperate. She's so well written and she's not even relevant.

God I love her so much

You know seeing all those cute fanarts about Geto, Haibara, and Nanami cheering Gojo's fight with Sukuna from up above always makes me wanna shed a tear and also all those teacher!Geto au where Gojo always looks so happy teaching alongside him...and how all that now turn out to be like foreshadowing next chapter...like I'm really sad rn especially when he said he wished Suguru was there to motivate him before the fight...damn Gojo, no need to worry cz your Suguru is definitely cheering you on, you just didn't see it back there... and like, man, it's okay if you wanna rest now and join your Suguru, you've done so much and worked so hard...

I’m really happy that we haven’t seen a gratuitous shirtless shot of Jeng yet cuz we know he’s built built. But it’s so far been just mostly female gaze shots or perfect wardrobe choices that kinda lightly seduce/hint to Pat&the viewer.

This reminded me of an article, regarding the Bollywood industry, where they mentioned how Movies nowadays show more “sexy” scenes of the actors where they’re wearing less clothes. Whereas, older movies would focus more on the innate sexiness and chemistry of its actors.

All of this to say, I really love that we’re getting this slow-burn effect to the sexy component of this show. Thus, seeing in real time how BOTH characters are affected by each other and how much they desire each other. It’s not obvious because they can’t be even be honest with themselves yet. The forbidden component helps but the whole team(writers, director, actors, etc.) just added that extra *something* that takes it up a notch.

#can’t believe the 2k24 plot has progressed to the point where the weekend has ended… s i g h #i don’t want the weekend to eeeeeeeeeenddddddddd #wasted yet another weekend reading a facepalm-worthy manhwa. i want my weekend back </3 #m an. the main plot point of that manhwa was just the entitled af sister poisoning everyone and evading consequences until the end #seriouslyyyyyyy first she poisoned the fl，then she tried to poison the fl’s husband (who was also her lover) #then she poisoned herself to bid farewell to her affair child. and th e n she poisoned her dad too bc he said no to her marrying the emperor #and *then* she poisoned the emperor himself with potato sprouts while trying to poison the fl *again* #and t h e n she was roped into a cheap plot to off the emperor by stabbing him with a poisoned needle by a (very meta tbh) guy #i mean. guy handed her the needle and was like ‘ok do what you’ve always been doing and poison the emperor for me.’ and she went ‘ok’ #and they had the 2 most pointless brother characters i’ve ever seen. #first bro was some 15 y.o. affair child bro of the fl’s first husband who p much just existed to inherit the husband’s estate #and the second bro was the affair child bro of the emperor: a perfectly nice young man who was unfairly hated by said emperor #and. like. l o l. the 2 pointless bros were like the only likeable characters in the entire story and they barely appeared in it #the first husband had every single possible undesirable trait a man could have rolled up into a single guy #and the emperor had a wafer-thin backbone and a mad case of babyface. like. the 15 year old boy looked older than him h e y #and the fl was somehow both a skilled opportunist and a master of missing opportunities at the same time #and man. the fl had just a single (1) maid who looked like tomoya enstrs (but with a bob cut) #i don’t even remember the maid’s name; i just called her ‘bob tomoya’. sorry for the slander tomochin you’re a cool dude #i’ve never seen a main cast as unlikeable as this one lmao. i mean. at least the [redacted] anime had juri #the plot was a pointless mess in general too. it went from 100 to 10000 in no time flat for no reason at all #it kinda felt like they were just throwing plot twists for the sake of throwing plot twists #and ofc the fl successfully resolved every problem that came her way bc o f c she did. flashtag girlboss and all ig #but the best part of it all (imo) was the improperly placed jewellery assets. they aren’t even angled consistently across progressive panels #they aren’t even shaded either. just plopped on there. it really takes you out of the setting esp if it’s during a serious scene #i liked how i kept getting an ad about cheating in marriages while reading it though. it really added to the experience #i’d rate that series a 2/10: needs more assets and half brothers #time to find a new overy melodramatic telenovella-esque series to binge next weekend ig… last week’s was better thoughhhh #at least that one had the villainess experience her downfall as consequences of her own actions and it was quite satisfying ngl #hm. ​i think i need a new hobby. before the word ‘villainess’ becomes a permanent part of my vocabulary
