summary ⇾ jungkook has finally returned home from war and is anxious to see his new bride. what will happen when he finally lays his eyes on her after three years and how will he be able to contain the hunger he’s held for her even after all this time.

authors note ⇾ finally! i've started writing uot 2! this is just a snippet from the beginning but here's an update on how its going so far, hope it gets you excited for the finished product! nothing smutty or riské, at least not yet ;)

part 1, interlude

it was hot.

the sun beating down on the large number of knights in the campaign had their foreheads burning and hair sticking to their skin. expensive armor that was once new and shiny was now heavy with dirt and mud and sweat. they had been riding for days now with barely any breaks in between and it was obviously starting to take a toll on the exhausted band of knights. well - on everyone except jungkook.

of course the commander would be perfectly fine. he had trained years for this type of thing, never once slowing down or stopping to catch a breath. and that’s not to say everyone else hadn’t trained to earn their spot. just no one had trained as hard as jungkook did. wanted it as much as jungkook did. even from a young age, when he fought warriors three times his size, he had never given up. swinging his sword till his arms gave out or until his opponent gave up out of pity and walked away from his broken and tired body splayed out on the dirty ground. cowards is what jungkook would call after them, watching them walk off before he lost consciousness.

“sir…” a voice rang out loud, but exhausted, from the back of the formation. “don’t you think it’s time to stop and make camp?”

horses came to a halt as the commander stopped and heads turned in the direction of the culprit. the voice seemed to belong to a handsome young knight who’s fluffy brown hair was basically drenched making him look as if a bucket of water had been dumped over his head. his body laid slumped over the back of his horse as he looked up in the direction of commander, puppy eyes begging with desperation. the rest of the knights assumed the boy had to be lacking a few braincells - how could he not? no one in their right mind would ever question the commander when he gets in a mood like this.

jungkook had barely even turned around, steely eyes still facing forward as he hissed, ”what’s your name knight?”

the boy gulped, all signs of exhaustion seeming to drain from his face as he started to recognize the tension in the air. his back straightened up and he tried his best to talk loud and avoid stumbling over his words, “taehyung, commander. sir kim taehyung...”

“and may i ask what, sir kim taehyung, do you think gives you the right to tell me when and where to camp my knights at?” jungkook says, biting out the words. everyone could see the mans shoulders tensing and those in the front caught a glimpse of white knuckles gripping hard on to the reigns of his horse.

taehyung stared wide eyed at the back of the mans head before flicking them around trying to catch the eyes of someone who could help him out the situation as he mutters meekly, “well commander i just thought-“

“you thought wrong.” he growled, cutting the conversation short. jungkook didn’t even spare him a glance, instead urging his horse forward and calling out to the rest of the group, “i’m the commander. we’ll camp when I say, any questions?”

he was met with silence, “didn’t think so.”

jungkook didn’t say much more before his horse galloped off expecting the rest to follow. most of the more experienced and knowledgeable knights did so out of fear of being chewed out like taehyung had been, already used to the commanders stern and no bullshit attitude. the rest, young and new to the guard, followed hesitantly with looks of uneasiness. taehyung who was still in shock sat there on his horse staring off in the distance at the commander as he charged ahead, unsure of whether he was still even considered part of the campaign anymore.

“don’t worry, you’re not fired.” a voice from the side of his horse spoke making taehyung turn his head. next to him stood another dashing knight, blonde hair parted down the middle and sweeping over his forehead. he turned his lips into a smile at taehyung, eyes squinting and chubby cheeks squishing up with gesture. “at least, not yet. but i’d advise against asking the commander too many questions. he doesn’t like that too much, more of the ride in silence type, ya know?”

taehyung just nodded his head frantically, glad someone was giving him help on how to survive the rest of the journey. he smiled and laughed out, “thank you for the advice, kind sir!”

“ugh no need to be all formal, just call me jimin! can I ask why you wanted to stop and make camp?” jimin says, voice dripping with honey like kindness.

taehyung just stared at him with a blank face, not understanding how the knight hadn’t noticed the bullets of sweat dripping down his face and the heaving breaths he took. but taehyung could see the man was almost in the same state and he assumed it must not be that much of a big deal to him. so instead he played it off and laughed, “ah i was just thinking the horses might need a rest! my tannie seems to be out of breath.”

taehyung patted the side of his black and chestnut brown horse yeontan, who just sneered in return and jerked forward a little, seeming like he was able to tell his owner was throwing him under the bus. taehyung made a mental note to cut the horses usual treat of carrots in half for the obvious betrayal, lips turning down in a frown. “by the way, what crawled up the commander butt and died? i hope he’s not always like that or else i’m definitely not making it.”

jimin let out a boisterous laugh at taehyung, shoulders shaking and head thrown back in amusement. “ah well, jungkooks just in a little bit of a mood right now. hates being away from the misses too long if you catch my drift. ” he says after catching his breath from his laughing fit.

“and don’t worry, your tannie will get his break. jungkook usually likes to make camp a little past the halfway point where a stream passes by for drinking water.”

taehyung sighed in relief at jimins words. the halfway point was just a couple miles ahead. they would be there before sundown and he couldn’t wait to strip this heavy army off and take a nap - and get tannie a drink of water too, of course. his smile returned and only seemed to get bigger as he reached out and gave jimin a pat on the back, “once again i thank you, jimin! you seem to be very knowledgeable on the commander! you must have taken this route with him many a blue moon, yes?”

“of course! i am his second in command after all,” jimin says, sending taehyung a sly wink before moving his horse forward in the direction of the rest of the campaign. “better catch up! there’s a lot of mysterious creatures out here that could use a snack. don’t want to be left behind!”

jimins horse kicked up dust in its wake and once again taehyung was left in shock, surprised by the casual way the man was able to drop his title on taehyung as if it was no big deal. and after what he said, taehyung was definitely fired. he just shook his head and let out a loud groan, head dropping forward into his hands. but his call of frustration was met with a howl in the distance that seemed to be a lot closer than he was comfortable with. so with shaky hands he gripped his reigns and rode after jimin calling out after him pathetically, “hey! jimminie, please don’t leave me!”

may fic update

since i hate bogging down author's notes on fics with these types of things, i figured i'd do a post re: fic in may.

i have fault lines in my bones still in progress — i'm hoping to post twice a month. i'm in the part where i have to rewatch the originals season 1 to keep some info straight and to remember some of the characters i love (cough sabine cough). i'm always a few chapters ahead of the one i post, but i like to keep the carrot on a stick this long to maintain my momentum.

you came back as the underdog still in progress — i've written a lot of this and it's just a matter of polishing it up and making sure things work in the order that i've popped them in. i'm also keeping a little document open for sequel ideas 👀 (i know, i'm getting ahead of myself). i had been hoping to update this every second friday/saturday since it's not as ambitious as i have fault lines and i do have a good chunk of it already written, but that may change depending on how offline things line up for me.

there are other projects that i'm working on, but these are probably the priority ones/ the ones that i've at least mentioned.

We are totally hanging out first! Honestly I don’t understand why we keep putting you with Dylan in the same car, you win at everything. maybe I should switch the cars around and give you Ryan instead? But Brigid+Dylan is 😍 and I need that to happen. Wait imagine we are all in our cars and we just pull up all at the same time to a red light and we roll down the window and just laugh at each other and then we all zoom away. I would absolutely not let Ryan sit up front with me, we would probably start smacking each other and chirping each other and I would lose concentration so imma put him in the back with Braden :) . Quinner can come and hold my hand because he’s gorgeous and I wanna hold his hand. Quinton would be fine, he’s seems like he would be slightly chaotic. Kesh has the most chill car. Like Kirby, Dylan C and Devon are all chill and would just be calmly talking while Kesh is driving.

When we are all together tho, it’s more chaotic. Haha yes the braiding is not going well for Dylan and Jamie they’d be like “How do I do this?” I don’t understand this. Why does this exist lol. Yess I would have to pull over and make them switch with Devon and quinton hehe. They would just be calmly braiding your hair and then Jamie and Dylan would be slightly jealous and pouting in the back. Just a warning I love music so imma play that loud and roll down the windows. Only for a bit tho . Also kesh omg late night drives are so cute. Also imagine all of us in a grocery store, that would be so chaotic. Also why do I feel like Braden, Kirby , Dylan C would pass out for literally the entire drive?

Malt teaser are yummy, but what about sour patch kids orrrrr peanut putter filled M&Ms. Have you ever had those? I always get them if I go to the movies:) Nutella is good too! Imma be Canadian and say have you ever had all dressed ruffles? Nanaimo bars are delish, we can get them in BC ! I’ll buy you poutine brigid. The best is probably in Montreal so when we make a pit stop there I can buy you some!. Also let’s not forget chocolate and healthy foods lo. Carrot sticks anyone?. Also music would be great, imma play like a g6 or promiscuous girl cuz I love that song 😍

Chirp kings unite, this will be the main factor of our vacay lol. Brigid I’m sorry but it has to be done lol. We are gonna chirp you sm. Oooo you putting your hands on his abs, and feeling the muscles. Honestly I would too lol- sorry Quinner. But Dylan Holloway has an amazing body. Ryan and I would chirp you again I’m not gonna lie, but also you straddling jamie would be 🥵. Kesh this is for you, Kirby shirtless, in that photo with him by the lake. I unfortunately have not found Quinner by a lake. Aww kesh I loved the “I didn’t think I needed sunscreen” lmao your entire back is the shade of my blush. They do need sunscreen tho, pale boys.

The boat is a must! All of these activities are so fun, Brigid you would go on the same tube w Dylan?. We would definitely make each other fall. Tanning is a dream sometimes - but while your tanning Jamie and Dylan are looking at you 😏 same w Kirby kesh . I’m not gonna lie drinking on a boat is nice. Some white claws or margaritas lol. Aww one of them holding your waist, some photos are gonna be taken there. Lmao Quinner is gonna be like “I’m gonna get a drink” and leaves and then Ryan sneaks up and pushes me. But not so fast I would grab him real quick and we would both fall in l😂. Awww kesh, I love those little sentences you wrote “oh yeah babe, uh huh babe sorry , but look” that’s adorable that he’s spending time with you.

Drunk Quinner is the best, but I would secretly love that he’s being clingy 🥺. Dylan H seems like the jealous type and probably so is Jamie. But you dancing with them would be soooo cute! They just want be constantly around you. Kesh and Kirby would be slaying.

I’m going to let you have a break from Ryan and I causing chaos, he would actually be helping unlike me and I would just be watching Dylan h become jealous that Jamie is w you lol. But I do want a friendship w him too lol . Awww yes him pulling on your braids 🥺 my smart girl is adorable same with “my smart boy”

Haha ya, my mom refuses to let me have a one piece, so all I have are bikinis lol. That’s good brigid, we all have hot bodies hehe. #hotgirlsummer.

I wanna go shopping w you and kesh soooo bad. It would be so fun!! Vacay clothes are cute. We should all a little black dress and take everyone’s breath away lol. Oo ya Dylan and Jamie admiring you in your hit lbd or clubbing clothes 😏. Same w kesh, Kirby would be amazed like how did he get such a gorgeous girl?. ok yes, first of all i love all of this 💖

so ig it’s been decided that dylan and i are in the same car so we can dominate once again lol. and then jamie and quinton are there too and then jamie and dyl are just trying to talk over each other to have a convo with me, so then i start ignoring them and talk to quinton instead hehe. omg yes if we all pull up at a red light at the same time, i’m that one person who just keeps inching forward when someone rolls up next to them and then as soon as the light turns green i’m gone lmao. so esp if it was you guys i would be being extra competitive. haha yes banish ryan to the back with braden so he doesn’t make you crash the car bc we’re too broke to pay for rental car damages. and then quinner gets to sit in the front with you and hold your hand 🥺 and then kesh is just vibing in her car and then i feel like they would all get distracted and decide to go sight-seeing and forget about the race lol

haha yes when we’re all in the car together it will be so chaotic. and then jamie and dyl are both trying to braid and they can’t and they’re getting frustrated bc my hair is just in knots and they’re just like why is this even a thing? why do people actually want to do this? and then thankfully you pull over to save my hair and then devon or quinton has to fix it. and then jamie and dyl are just pouting about it and you and ryan start chirping them about it lol. and yes please play your music as loud as you want. i love having the windows down and just blasting music super loud esp when you’re on the highway. and then somehow kirby, dylan c, and braden are just asleep in the back? even tho the music is so loud lmao. definitely have to play like a g6 for the boys lol. awwww yes a late night drive would be so fun. idk why i just love driving in the dark

omg all of us in the grocery store together is literally the worst idea ever. like it would be so chaotic, all of us would be running around the store looking for whatever food we wanted. and we would not get like any healthy food, it would all be junk food, which would be horrible for all of us athletes lmao. and then in the end the cart would be overflowing and half the boys would come running up to us with more food they wanted and then the cash register would just be like wtf why do you need sm food. but we would end up eating it all by the end of our trip bc we all eat so much

omg sour patch kids, resees and peanut butter m&ms are like my three favorite candies so we would have to stock up for the drive. i just looked up all dressed ruffles and now i literally want to try them so bad. but we would have to have so many bags bc we all eat so much lol. and then yes i love dark chocolate, so bring any kind of dark chocolate. and then we have to be at least a little bit healthy and bring like carrots and peanut butter or something. and then making pit stops to get nainaimo bars and poutine bc i want to try both those things lol

hehe yes you and ryan would be chirping me the entire time, but it’s all good i still love you guys. somehow kesh and kirby are escaping your guys’ chirping. haha wow lexi ok i see you. quinner would be very jealous rn. but yes i would be feeling dyl’s muscles while we were on the jet ski. and then i have to straddle jamie 😏 it’s just to put aloe vera on. obviously. hehe yes all of their lake pics are so good. it’s ok that you couldn’t find one for quinner, i can’t find one for jamie either. haha yes they all are convinced they don’t need sunscreen and we’re just like sure....

yes, boats are so fun! haha maybe i’d share a tube with dyl, or maybe i’d go with jamie and make dyl jealous lol. either way someone would definitely try to flip us out of the tube lol. hehe while we’re tanning the guys will just be looking at us 😏 but then we would also all be sitting on the railing drinking and then you and quinner both finish your drinks so he goes to get you guys new ones and then ryan pushes you in lmao. but then you would pull him in with you to get payback lol. and i would just being chilling on the railing with my white claw dying of laughter

lexi i’m so jealous, my mom could never. we love a body positive queen. but we would all look hot in our swimsuits #hotgirlsummer. hehe we could go shopping together to get our suits when we’re getting other clothes too. and then we have to get cute vacay clothes so i’m not wearing athletic clothes like i do literally every day lmao. and then we would all get lbd and other cute clubbing clothes and the guys would just be in awe. like they would all be admiring us and maybe getting a little to handsy lol and then we’re like stop it we haven’t even left yet. but then once we get back we just steal some of their clothes bc they’re comfy and then keep wearing them for the rest of vacay lol.

Sunday Slightly More Than Six

I’m back!

July was a wild month for me, and August is shaping up to be just as while, but I needed a break from business stuff (building a business is still no joke, y’all), to play in the Kastle sandbox of my own making that is my Miss Congeniality AU, And World Peace.

@nxbodygoesafterher, as I have yet to actually finish this fic, it is and continues to still be your birthday. Have some cake!

I’m wrapping up the third chapter, and plan to get it out within the next few days, but until then, a teaser!

“What the hell are you talking about?”

“I am saying that tomorrow, she will have nothing to do but convert oxygen into carbon dioxide on the regional-national preliminary live stream, and there is nothing I can do to help that!”

Frank waves a hand in Karen’s direction, “You also said you couldn’t make her beautiful in two days, but look at her now! Look how gorgeous she is.”

Going still before she can take another in-protest bite out of her carrot stick, Karen turns her wide-eyed gaze up to Frank, and she has no idea what kind of look is on Billy’s face, but whatever it is makes Frank really think about what he just said, “You know,” he tacks on. “Compared to he car-wreck she was before.”

He ducks his head down to take a sip of coffee, and even though it’s kind of dark in their corner of backstage, Karen totally sees his ears go red.

Interesting.

I agree with you over everything you said with the marketing. I really dont have a buzz for it at all because I can't get hyped over something I cant see. It's just lackluster and makes me faintly bitter. When it does finally come out, all the excitement and hype will have drained away. I'm more excited for a reboot of an old anime that I know the entire storyline of than something I know nothing about and probably won't know anything about.

I agree with what you mean. It’s difficult to be excited or to put forth your 100% when you’re hearing things through word of mouth than getting to see something with your own eyes. Because a relatively, small percentage people actually got to see the buzz and the excitement, it does instill faint bitterness and even jealousy. Unintentionally, it creates this strange elitism where only a few have any idea of what to expect or of what’s going on while the majority of us are grasping straws and are getting fed secondhand information, cryptic and sparse details.

It’s almost like a secret. A few know and have sworn to keep. At first, everyone wants to know what the secret is. As time passes and the fervor dies, you grow indifferent of what the secret actually is and you don’t care for it as much anymore.

In the end, what bothers me the most about this situation is that originally…the international viewing of the trailer/teaser was going to be shown at the end of January or early February. Something came up, there was more hype than expected, and so the decision was to continue domestic viewing of it for about another week – I believe? And then afterwards, there was just radio silence. Recently, there was a large event going on in Tokyo for anime and you would think that with a show that has such promise and a movie that’s coming out soon, there might be a screening or some sort of viewing going on. On that front, there was just silence. There was no word, there was no news, there was nothing.

I want to have hope, I want to believe that I’m not being manipulated or being led on, I want to have faith that some unexpected things happened and it’s being delayed for a short time. I don’t want to say that the show that helped me grow as a person is now toying with me with a carrot on a stick. I’m trying to be optimistic as much as I can, but I’m only human. Eventually, I assume the worst and move on. It’s disappointing that it’s come to this.

For those of you who have been here for a while, you probably know me. Some of you may disagree with my how I conduct myself, but you know where my heart really is. You also know, whenever things are serious, whether you can or cannot believe what I write

For those of you who are new, hello and welcome. Try to keep up with the rest of the pack because this patch of fandom is going to be bumpy.

I’ve done a quick scan on twitter before writing this and I think most people have gotten the gist of my preliminary tweets, whether directly or via SONE hivemind. That’s encouraging since you’ll know where this post is headed.

Bringing you up to speed

SM’s contracts and negotiations were under wraps for the most part until I posted about how it worked, and luckily as it’s become common knowledge it makes my job easier.

SM usually start their idols off on a 5 year contract.

Idols are then usually offered 3 year extension deals with wholly different terms from their first contract (read: a lot better for them).

Idols are made to negotiate individually.

In SNSD’s case, like with almost all idols, their parents get involved with the negotiation (because Korean system of seniority and hierarchy makes negotiation between the agency and young adults very difficult).

Terms are loosely “renegotiated” at the beginning of every year of their employment, using the original contract as a framework.

Actual renewal negotiations are also done during the beginning of the year that it expires (so for SNSD, 2014 and 2017).

January is a pretty tense month for every idol under SM.

Where the the timeline begins

Take yourself back to 2014. I think I was the first person to break the news at the time. SM usually likes to wrap up everything by the end of January but things went a few days over the deadline as SM were still finalizing terms with Jessica.

SNSD were doing great in January 2014. “I Got a Boy” had gotten them more critical praise and attention, they’d won all the awards, they were sweeping through with album sales, merchandise and had proven that they were relatively versatile in dividing themselves up into smaller units to find successes in multiple fields.

I can’t go into any details on the terms but understand that SM gave them a very nice and cushy deal. Things went south towards the end of the year when things played out the way it did. I will still maintain to this day that no matter how many OT8 or Golden Stars will accuse someone or another, the fuller picture that I’ve been privileged enough to see has been that neither SNSD nor Jessica can be blamed for what happened in that time. I didn’t want to touch on it but I have to because it’s a relevant event on the timeline. Since I do, I need to stress that point as much as I can before moving on.

In the remaining contract period, SM got distracted with huge plans involving China and groups that were going to debut. Talk to anyone who claims to be an insider in SM and they will tell you that they are woefully understaffed and their leadership easily distracted by grand plans and ideas. Sure, we got Lion Heart but I think any SONE who was following events unfold in real time would agree that SM made full or good use of the girls; and so SM didn’t get back what they had initially expected, even though really, they were to blame.

The events of this year

Fastforward to the end of 2016 and January, yes the all important month of January, of 2017: SM want to average out what they had wanted from the previous three years with what they will be getting in 2017 to 2020. They want SNSD members to take the lowest possible deal on the table.

SM are fielding several plays at once right now.

Carrot and stick the girls: Show the girls how much SM can give SNSD, and then snatch it away abruptly. You’ve probably seen enough gangster movie stereotypes to know a “play ball and things will stay nice.” when you see it in real life. I’m telling you as someone who’s been watching this play out for years from different companies… this is the entertainment industry version of it.

Carrot and stick the fans: Show the fans how much SNSD they could get, and then snatch it away abruptly. They want us to be worked up into a fever pitch and then beg for more, ignorantly, because we don’t know what’s going on under the surface. I’m telling you that begging SNSD members to “PLEASE STAY UNNIEEEE” is playing right into their hands.

Divide and conquer: they want to divide fandoms into pressuring individual members into doing what SM wants, since the public will be somewhat indifferent and fans will be the tastemakers in the community campaigning and complaining about the situation. I’m going to go deeper into this below.

I think they’ve already released to the media that some members have re-signed contracts and while that is “technically true”, “technically true” is dangerously misleading. Contracts are individually different and each member wants different solo activities (whether it’s acting, singing, variety shows) so all of the terms are different. The situation is intensely complicated and SM are taking advantage of that and trying to make sure that their misleading, simple narrative “some members signed but some members won’t”.

When in doubt, SONEs, where do we look? We look to the girls.

During this comeback, when have the girls ever looked like they were singling anyone out? They don’t blame any of themselves for the choices they have made or the stance that they stand. You can feel how much they respect the wishes of, and trust the intentions of every other member in the group, despite this picture of a divided group that SM wants to paint.

SM want there to be confusion and in-fighting, because we all know how in-fighting ends: we flock to our main biases and start pointing fingers at individual fandoms of other members to blame. This cannot be allowed to happen because that is clearly not going to help the girls in any way.

As much detail as I can share right now

The member(s) who are still fighting SM at the negotiation table have refused to give in, even when SM issued an ultimatum to decide by January 31st (or else).

I mean it’s crazy that they’ve been able to hold against SM for EIGHT MONTHS without giving in; our girls are strong women but I also don’t think you could do that without being able to believe in the support of the girls who had already re-signed. The crazier thing is that winning in small incrememtns right up until the comeback too; they were successful in negotiating SM to make changes to make the unfair contract fairer but quite frankly, it still is unfair.

It’s only now that SM are dangling a lot of different group projects in their face, hoping they’ll cave in for short-term things when the remainder of the three years .

Going forward

There is no grand conspiracy from the K-Pop industry to dismantle SNSD. This is brinksmanship at best and feels more like an inside job. K-Pop is a business and if you’ll excuse the pun, you’re seeing the business end of it courtesy of SM Entertainment.

SM doesn’t always do this but when they do, things can get ugly.

This whole promo cycle. Being edited out of shows. Being excluded arbitrarily after those amazing teasers and a full week of epic action, drawing in huge numbers to TV shows and album sales outpacing manufacturing speed.

As fans, I don’t think we should, however passively, rush the girls, or pressure them into making decisions. SM is trying to use SONEs as a weapon against SNSD and we cannot allow this.

Trust in SNSD to make the right moves and continue to love and support them without picking sides.

In Zoomania, Disney packs important messages with funny sloths

Zoomania

runs today at 8:15 p.m. on Sat.1. The animated film is also available at Disney +. Anyone who has not yet visited the city of animals should make up for it here urgently, because Oscar winner Zoomania is an absolute Disney treat for children and adults alike.

Here the rabbit Judy Hopps follows her dream: she wants to become a police officer in the city of Zootropolis. Together with the fox Nick Wilde, she comes across a large-scale conspiracy, making Disney's Zoomania not only an endearing comedy, but also an exciting, hook-throwing thriller.

Zoomania is (quite literally) very funny

First of all, there is a lot to laugh about in Zoomania. After animals felt like every protagonist in Disney's long film history, the animated film now scores with a fabulous animal-related humor.

Zoomania: Nick Wilde & Judy Hopps

As a spectator, Zoomania (even when looking repeatedly) gives great pleasure in discovering new and funny details that play with the knowledge of animals. To give a few examples:

Bunny Judy's mobile phone brand is not characterized by an apple, but by a bitten carrot.

The mills of the bureaucracy grind here at sloth speed. In Judy's hometown, which is mostly inhabited by rabbits (which are known to breed like rabbits), the number of residents on the place-name sign increases every second.

And, my personal favorite, where I keep laughing out loud: a wolf policeman is assigned to undercover use and then dresses up in sheep's clothing.

Zoomania – Teaser Trailer (German) HD

I usually prefer animated films in which animals stay in their natural environment, i.e. do not drive around in cars, have telephones, swing arms and wear clothes. Too strong an anthropomorphic approach, i.e. the extreme humanization of animals, scares me off.

But since Zoomania declares this the basic idea from the start and knows how to use it cleverly with a fusion of the animal world, this approach simply gives great pleasure (e.g. if Judy frightens animals without clothes, that is, “naked” animals). Another plus point is that the human side of the animals has a deeper meaning here.

The right message: Zoomania breaks prejudices

Without an annoyingly raised index finger, Zoomania, one of the most successful films of 2016, because the animals have very human messages. The animal characters play with stereotypes and prejudices, but they don't just leave them there.

Zoomania: the police station

“Typical” animal properties are used, but then again ironically broken and even completely thrown overboard. Suddenly not the elephant but the yak has the perfect memory. The rabbit saves the fox, not the other way around. And not behind the grim polar bears, but behind the shrew is the mighty mafia godfather.

The different districts of the animal metropolis of Zootropolis not only cover snow, desert, rainforest and savannah, but also play wonderfully with proportions: If Judy Hopps is the smallest in the police station and barely gets up on her chair, she will be in District of the mice to the Godzilla-sized giantess. It's all a question of perspective.

Zoomania: change of perspective

Knowing our expectations, Zoomania can show them to us and then turn the tables. The animal stereotypes cemented in fables for centuries are first taken up here and then turned upside down in a funny way. Now, too

Herbivores intrigue, daddy rabbit is allowed to cry and big strong buffalos are allowed to like pop music. Even the hilariously slow sloth Flash can surprise the viewer in the end.

Zoomania also passes on important messages: Just because a fox annoyed you at school does not mean that you have to damn all foxes. A rabbit may call another rabbit “cute”, an outsider cannot. Nobody wants to

The (adult) viewer does not have to think about what real situations these profound metaphors stand for alongside all of Zoomania's joke. Hopefully, these important lessons will enter into children's heads in a playful way.

In the end, it is not so much the simple you-can-achieve-everything-what-you-want message that sticks, but rather the recognition that we are all affected by different mistakes and prejudices, including the heroes. But that is no reason not to think outside the box and to strive for a better world together.

It's an astonishingly profound insight – and not just for children. So either grab your young relatives or plant yourself on the couch without any shame to enjoy this wonderful animated film on TV or at Disney +.

Everyone has hair, albeit short, long, wavy or frizzy (or wazy in my case)! It is something that we are born with and will (hopefully) have for the rest of our lives. It may change color, it may get thinner, but it will always be there…so we need to look after it.

I am one of the first people to admit it that I haven’t always treated my hair like the delicate princess veil that it is, but that is something that I am looking to change. So I think that it is time that we look into what hair actually is, and what we need to do to look after it at (you guessed it – I am a scientist and nutritionist after all) the molecular level!

Hair is a name that is given to strands of protein – called keratin, which is held onto the body by a hair follicle – the basics right?! When you pluck your eyebrows, you know there is a clear-ish soft bit at the end of it – that is the hair bulb that nourishes the keratin strand. It is this bulb that allows for the cell division (how your hair gets longer and stronger) and gives the strands all the nutrients that it needs.

On a side note – protein is made up of something called amino acids, which is made of DNA – why people use hair in doing DNA analysis – our hair knows everything about us!

Back to nutrients. Our hair needs pretty much everything, but as with everything, there are certain that will really help take care of our hair. Here is a list of the most important ones for hair and why, as well as food groups that are high in these vitamins and minerals:

Vitamin A (used in all cells for growth and repair). Commonly found in orange vegetables like sweet potato and carrots, as well as spinach and kale. It is also found in milk and eggs and in cod liver oil!

Biotin (vitamin B7) is great because it is used in the metabolism of protein! This means that it keeps the hair strong.

Pantothenic Acid (B5) is great at helping hair get strong, as well as preventing hair loss and pigment deterioration! It can be found in mushrooms, eggs, and oily fish.

Vitamin C is one of those wonder vitamins that we always hear about being fantastic! And it is – it helps the collagen in the body healthy (which means great skin) as well as looking after the hair follicle (which is made of collagen). It can be found in Broccoli, Peppers, and spinach.

Vitamin E provides physical stability to cell membranes and acts as an antioxidant while promoting healthy skin and hair. Vitamin E is important if you dye your hair with bleach (like I do) because it is great at breaking down any peroxide that ends up on your scalp! It can be found in vegetable oils, nuts, and seeds.

Selenium (that one from Evolution – great film) is involved with keeping the scalp and hair bulb healthy. It works with Zinc and the antioxidants to keep everything hydrated – so you don’t end up with dandruff! Seafood and grains are high in selenium.

Zinc and Calcium are also important, with Zinc being used in the DNA production, which means that the strands are more nourished and growing properly. Zinc is normally found in meat, eggs, and seafood.

Iron can also be considered important, but more in the fact that it is responsible for oxygen transport in the blood. The blood carries all of the nutrients around the body, so if that is healthy and working properly, then the postal service is working at full capacity! 🙂

Now on to the fun bit. As I mentioned, I don’t really look after my hair! I use bleach to dye it white blonde, I use a hairdryer and straighteners and I have a terrible diet! The one thing that is going for my hair is that I love hair masks – but on to that later. I get that nutrition is important – after four years of studying I should think that, and I looked around at various supplements and intakes for healthy hair and found this one at Holland and Barrett. Hairburst Heart Hair Vitamins are marketed for growing hair, but in order to grow hair, you have to have healthy hair. I only bought these last week, but as the series goes on, we will see how it does! They are chewable (which makes me feel like a kid again) and they taste good, and convenient because I can just stick one in my mouth when I am doing my make up!

I know you are all saying that I should change my diet, go natural and all, but I am the fussiest person in the world. I don’t like fish, I don’t eat cereals like a normal person, and I eat things separately – I will try and get a picture of my food before I eat it! So going in and changing what I am eating would mean that I would fail terribly. Maybe later down the line, I will get better and maybe try some fish, but for now, I like my chewies!

Over the next few weeks and months, I will look into different hair care routines and theories into how they can make hair better, longer and stronger. You can view my hair care Pinterest board for some teasers of what is to come! Firstly, assessing my current routine and looking for potholes where it might not be soo good. My aim out of this is to hair glorious shiny long hair that I can wear some of the hair jewels that I got from my friends at Halicer.

While there haven’t been specific studies on dogs, it stands to reason that something which helps both mice and humans can have a similar effect on our pups. Luteolin can be found in celery, thyme, green peppers, carrots, and rosemary, which can all be added to your dog’s diet.

#3 – B Vitamins

B vitamins are proving to be crucial for brain health. B-complex vitamins include all of the water-soluble vitamins except C. Since many different vitamins fall under the B-complex banner, they are responsible for a wide variety of responses within the body. For example, B6 is used to form neurotransmitters and B12 is used to make red blood cells and DNA. B vitamins can be found in a wide variety of foods, including most meat.

#4 – Vitamins C & E

Vitamin C is necessary for the development of certain neurotransmitters and it’s also an important antioxidant. Vitamin E consists of several fat-soluble compounds that have antioxidant properties. Antioxidants protect against damage from free radicals – atoms or molecules with at least one unpaired electron, which can interfere with normal cell function. Antioxidants may help prevent cancer, arthritis, and memory problems. They can usually be found in fruits and vegetables. If you’re concerned that your dog might not be getting enough Vitamins B, C, or E through their diet, you may want to consider adding this great multivitamin to their diet.

#5 – DHA and EPA

Omega-3s such as DHA and EPA are essential for overall health and especially for brain health. DHA makes up almost a third of the structural fats in the brain and 97% of the total omega-3s in the brain. A 2012 study done on Beagle puppies showed that a fish oil supplement with DHA in it helped improve learning; memory; and motor, immune and retina functions during the developmental stage. A diet rich in fish may provide your dog enough DHA, but there is a way you can be certain your dog is getting enough.

For those of you who are new, hello and welcome. Try to keep up with the rest of the pack because this patch of fandom is going to be a bumpy ride.

I’m cobbling this together as quickly as I can because I genuinely wasn’t prepared for how quickly SM would start the mediaplay. In hindsight, that was stupid and I should have been prepared so I want to apologize for that and will try to keep on top of things again – real life work commitments have been making investing time into fandom a hard task. The funniest part is I was just DM’ing a friend in Singapore about the “one week promo” situation at the time… so really caught with my trousers down.

I will apologize in advance because the following text is not exhaustive account and summarizes/streamlines things. Details of deals that each member has or is negotiating won’t be talked about here: it’s a distraction. Please understand the position that I am in, like people used to understand back in the old days of fandom.

Bringing you up to speed

SM’s contracts and negotiations were under wraps for the most part until I posted about how it worked, and luckily as it’s become common knowledge it makes my job easier.

SM usually start their idols off on a 5 year contract.

Idols are then usually offered 3 year extension deals with wholly different terms from their first contract (read: a lot better for them).

Idols are made to negotiate individually.

Terms are loosely “renegotiated” at the beginning of every year of their employment, using the original contract as a framework.

Actual renewal negotiations are also done during the beginning of the year that it expires (so for SNSD, 2014 and 2017).

January is a pretty tense month for every idol under SM.

SNSD were doing great in January 2014. “I Got a Boy” had gotten them more critical praise and attention, they’d won all the awards, they were sweeping through with album sales, merchandise… More importantly they’d proven that they could divide themselves up to find successes in multiple fields.

The events of this year

SM are fielding several plays at once right now.

When in doubt, SONEs, where do we look? We look to the girls.

During this comeback, when have the girls ever looked like they were singling anyone out? They don’t blame any of themselves for the choices they have made or the stance that they stand. You can feel how much they respect each other’s positions. You can feel how much trust the intentions of every other member in the group.

The picture of a divided group that SM wants to paint is a lie.

SM want there to be confusion and in-fighting, because we all know how in-fighting ends: we flock to our main biases and start pointing fingers at individual fandoms of other members to blame.

This cannot be allowed to happen because that is clearly not going to help the girls in any way.

They know each other better than anyone, and we trusted them before. Trust the girls again now, in trusting the other members.

The member(s) who are still fighting SM at the negotiation table have refused to give in, even when SM issued an ultimatum to decide by January 31st (or else). To be quite honest, things didn’t look good in December when preliminary talks were coming out of SM to draw up the new extension contracts. It became rapidly clear as January started that things were not going to be easy.

It’s only now that SM are dangling a lot of different group projects in their face, hoping they’ll cave in for short-term things when the remainder of the three years .

Going forward

There is no grand conspiracy from the K-Pop industry to dismantle SNSD. K-Pop is a business and if you’ll excuse the pun, you’re seeing the business end of it courtesy of SM Entertainment. This is brinksmanship at best and feels more like an inside job.

SM doesn’t always do this but when they do, things can get ugly.

This whole promo cycle. Being edited out of shows. Being excluded arbitrarily after those amazing teasers and a full week of epic promo. Drawing huge numbers to TV shows and album sales outpacing manufacturing speed.

As fans, I don’t think we should, however passively, rush the girls, or pressure them into making decisions. SM is trying to use SONEs as a weapon against SNSD and we cannot allow this.

Trust in SNSD to make the right moves and continue to love and support them without picking sides.
