hey so i know i’ve been on hiatus for forever but i just wanna say that i saw the unfortunate news about technoblade last night; about an hour after his goodbye video came out. even though i’ve drifted from my interest in mcyt/dsmp and such, and i havent been involved in the fandoms for a very long time (and wasnt really ever fully indulged in mcyt in general, aside from in 2015 when i was watching dantdm feed his minecraft Bone Dog or some shit) — this was literally fucking heartbreaking.

i remember hearing about techno’s cancer a while back; though it was kind of just treated in the community as a small roadblock - because that’s kinda how techno displayed it. i may be remembering the video wrong; but i think he was being pretty chill about it. something that he was getting treatment for; it would be gone eventually and he’d just return to youtube like normal. but maybe techno really didnt know the severity; or he was just downplaying the severity in order to not upset his audience. (again there might have been more information on this from techno himself but im still looking into the situation and havent been active in the community for a long ass time. i just wanted to make a quick post about it)

cancer is fucking heartbreaking. i honestly thought his death was some weird joke until i looked into it more. i did not think some youtuber that i was watching content from and joking about a while back would suddenly be pronounced dead with a goodbye video. i honestly cried a little because of the initial shock; because truth be told, while i havent always had interest in technoblade as a youtuber, he’s circulated in the media i’ve consumed for a very long time. i remember being a young, shitbrain ipad kid and watching some of my favorite minecraft content creators collab with him. i’d hear about his bedwars/mc minigame records. so really, it came down to learning that one of the figures in my childhood has passed away.

now, no matter what your opinions on mcyt, technoblade, his community, etc are; this is a tragedy. my heart goes out to technoblade’s family and anyone else with cancer in their life, whether they themself have it or someone they love does. i’m in that crowd and i know how scary cancers are as a whole. i hope techno’s legacy lives on and while yes, this is a tragic loss; he continues to be appreciated by those who take a liking to his content.

#poorly drawn mdzs #mdzs #wei wuxian #lan wangji #jin guangyao #qin su #The parallels to the mulderskully comic were genuine scripting coincidences that I kept in for the irony. #wwx and mulder both have a strong need to show their beloved (investigation) partner the cool thing they just found. #Much to their chagrin and concern. #For as much of a mess the plot gets in The Untamed...one of the things it does probably the best of all adaptions is setting up JGY. #specifically how we spend time getting to know him as a *Regular Guy* around our deuteragonists' age. #I love how he's present in the cloud recess arc! I was rooting for him as a character! The twist villain reveal felt so heartbreaking! #Here in the audio drama (for as much as it does well) we pretty much get 2 scenes tops with this guy before he's villain monologuing. #before this we know him as 1) the guy NMJ yelled at a lot 2) a suspect 3) leader guy Jin Ling was partially raised by. #The elements are there but but not with any particular depth to make him...interesting (in this version). #Sure we get to learn more after the fact but it just falls so flat in comparison B*/ #ohhhh noooo the guy we are pretty sure killed a guy is gaslighting his wife and has a secret torture chamber. And he's a politician. #not much of a mystery to it all innit. #Feel free to disagree or bring up differing points btw; I love media analysis convos and this truly is just my opinion.

at a certain point i think we need to acknowledge that art is very rarely created accidentally. if you can see a theme in a work than that theme was, more likely than not, at least somewhat intentional on behalf of the creator. you don't put a piece of yourself out into the world without thinking about what it means at least a little bit.

So there's implications that sometimes the aliens deliberately match up contestants with strong relationships to increase the drama and potentially get more emotional performances out of the contestants.

We also know that Alien Stage is firmly treated as reality show-level entertainment. The Segyein are casually talking about brand deals and critiquing performances while several characters we deeply care about are forced to kill to survive and sometimes watch people they love die in front of them.

During Ivan's pre-Round 6 interview, the interviewer kept needling him about his connection to Till, how Ivan felt about facing him.

The Segyein thought that facing Ivan and Till against eachother would be some dramatic storyline on the side of 'most popular season contestant against rough around the edges musical prodigy, also they have HISTORY 👀', but it actually turned in a tragic display of how this whole system finally broke Till and Ivan sacrificing his guaranteed win to save him anyway, because to Ivan, Till mattered as a person he loved and not as a commodity.

Till finally ended up as docile and broken as his owner had wanted him to be all along, and it took away his love of music while making his performance in alien stage worse (I think Till in round 6 is a good example of how 'tortured artists' don't actually always produce great or profound art from their trauma. The far more likely outcome is they just end up depressed and losing the fucking will to live kfdjks)

Meanwhile Ivan has everything going for him, he's become a popular, profitable commodity through Alien Stage, he always did what he was told and was a model pet-human, and he was guaranteed to win Round 6 with the state Till was in.

But he threw all that away to save Till without a second of hesitation. Ivan was given a choice between losing Till, a pet-human that many Segyein view as inferior and disposable, and the highest quality of life a pet-human can aspire to, and he said 'fuck you, I love him' to everyone watching.
