ive read a lot of interesting macdennis meta analysis post season 16 and i think the one consistent thing im seeing between all of them that i vehemently disagree with is the idea that dennis is innocent when it comes to macs obsession/insistence in pursuing him. because. its quite literally the opposite imo ??? throughout the show we see dennis manipulate mac and actively damage his self image and confidence simply to exert control and get whatever petty bullshit he wants that day (e.x. ass kickers united). slowly but surely we see mac get more and more dependent on dennis' praise and approval BECAUSE dennis has purposefully made him so dependent on it by breaking him down and building him back up over and over again. this worked for dennis while mac was "straight" because now he had a best friend who was virtually an obedient manservant whenever needed, no strings attached. but, when mac comes out, it no longer works for him. now mac realizes that that blind devotion and reverence hes had for dennis for years is actually plain and simple attraction (mixed with a ton of manipulation and old man yaoi mind poison) and now its not just a give and take relationship. mac now also wants something, and hes gonna try and get it by using the one tactic hes been TAUGHT will make dennis happy and hopefully love him back: blind devotion and servitude. admittedly he's not going about it in a healthy or normal way whatsoever and my empathy for him kinda drops off at recognizing hes been manipulated and that's WHY hes doing the things he does, but it still needs to be recognized that mac isn't just acting the way he is cluelessly and without reason. this is what hes been TAUGHT, but now that there's implications attached to the actions dennis no longer has the control that he had before, thus the beginning of rejecting the servitude instead of instigating it.

Something I wonder about Simon and Betty's relationship is how long they were together before the whole crown ordeal. But they were engaged, you say. My aunt (in)famously met my uncle and had a ring on her finger in 8 weeks. We've seen that both Betty and Simon were both weird outcasts, crazy determined and a pinch insane. I would not be surprised if they decided they'd met their one true love and got engaged super quick.

My point being, Betty's shifting to revolve around Simon and Simon's rose colored glasses of their relationship feels very much like New Love. They're people who love each other and love being a couple but still haven't quite figured out how to coexist together, as two people in a partnership. I feel like if they'd known each other longer, lived together longer, some of the issues we're seeing would have probably self resolved.

I don't think their relationship is toxic nor is it totally perfect. It's two lonely, most likely neurodivergent people in a relatively early relationship still figuring out how it works. Everything that happened afterwards: the crown, the seperation, the time travel, the magic/madness/sadness just exemplified issues they had both as individuals and as a couple.

It's all about Nagi living alone in a tiny one bedroom, one bathroom apartment with zero personality and Reo having a whole floor for himself but still living surrounded by tacky-expensive home decor with no apparent traces of his actual personality, either. It's all about how Nagi's parents haven't visited him in 2 years nor taken an interest in his life since, while Reo's are content to live floors apart from their teenage son, only taking an interest in what value he can bring to Mikage Corp but being otherwise uninvolved in / dismissive of his actual life. It's all about them being surrounded by people and still not knowing how to form a meaningful connection with another person before meeting each other. It's all about them being so starved for genuine human warmth to combat their bone-deep loneliness that they both treasure memories of tiny, inconsequential moments where they were spending time with their parents. its OBVIOUSLY playing on paralleling these shots again. this time it seems to be after till got punished and is asleep or unconscious (or maybe he just has his eyes closed, but i dont think hes awake- he's not the type to be so chill about the face touching)

what if... its also meant to parallel a "future" shot? just like the previous two?

if till ends up dying this round (SAD!) we could end up seeing the second half of it. with ivan's hand on till's corpse. but this is pure conjecture, not super likely. im just saying is all.

GRACE:

The light scars/ cracks on her body were injuries formed while she was accidentally sent through Turo's time machine. Unlike the paradox pokemon/ miraidon, GrAce's body isn't made of iron or metal, so her body wasn't able to withstand the large amount of tera energy used to power the machine as easily as the paradox pokemon were.

Luckily, she was just barely able to hold out against the time machine's energy until she made it to Turo's lab in the present day. Unfortunately, she can't be sent back because she would literally die if she went through the time machine again. Sooooo she's stuck in the modern era.

Very familiar with Area Zero and the various pokemon that reside down there, but moved out in order to continue producing music as well as familiarize herself with current-day Paldea.

She only vaguely know Clavell back when he was a rebellious teenager, though she didn't know his name. Clavell, on the other hand, was one of her biggest fans back in the 50s-60s.

Funny enough, when she sees "Clive" for the first time, she recognizes him! But not as Director Clavell, she just barely recognizes him as the random teenage fan that would occasionally ask her to sign various GrAce posters he had bought. She is also under the belief that he too, was sent from the past into the present, unaware that he simply just grew up.

Likes doing random poses for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

BRAIDY:

Believes that everything can be solved without violence, but can and will throw hands if need be.

Everyone in Braidy's family greet each other by playfully ramming into one another. So when Peppy and his team were getting chased down by Braidy's family during their journey, they weren't trying to attack them, they just wanted to say hi!

Braidy is really good with kids due to his experience with being the eldest sibling, as he'd often have to take care of his younger siblings.

Mykyie and Braidy shop at the same clothing store.

Speaking of Mykyie, the lighter parts of Braidy's fur appeared only after Mykyie passed...

As of now, he's still an apprentice, but he has great potential to become an all powerful wizard... someday.

CHRISTENE'S:

I just realized that Ekaterin Vorkosigansaga's maiden name is Vorvayne because the structure and nature of her and Miles's romance are heavily inspired by Sayers's Wimsey novels, in which the romantic heroine is called Harriet Vane.

#I've never read the wimsey novels even though I have been vaguely aware of their existence since before I went through puberty #for some reason I spent a long time thinking that Lord Peter Wimsey was a wizard detective lol #but in these months I've been hyperaware of them because I keep making all these Bujold vs. Dunnett comparisons in my head #on so many topics very relevant to my heart #and I once had a theory that Bujold was inspired by Dunnett but I kept thinking that #this can't be true #because if it's true then Bujold misconstrued or ignored a lot of what Dorothy was saying in pretty in-your-face ways #and then I realized nah #they were both inspired by Sayers #they had the same parting point and each seems to have taken the elements they liked and made them her own #and each developed and elaborated on those elements while introducing other unique elements of her own from other sources #which makes a lot more sense and makes for a fascinating comparative reading project :3 #vorkosigan saga #lord peter wimsey
