Blackbird | Epilogue
Pairing: Jason Todd x Fem!Reader
Word Count: 1.6K
Requested: No
Warnings: Swearing, angst, some fluff, talk of having a dark soul and not being a good person, death mention, shot with a gun
Description: You were once a member of the BatFam known by the moniker Blackbird.   You and Dick Grayson were close, but when a tragic accident left many members of the team thinking you were dead you went into hiding and tried to build a new life for yourself. But now Dick is back and he’s about to find out your secret.
A/N: Thank you for following along on Blackbird's journey with me.  This was the first DC story I ever wrote, it was actually the first ever fanfic I started.  Back then it was an OFC story and when I started my blog I made it into a Reader Insert.  It was meant to be more of a healing journey for Blackbird than anything else.  Her coming to terms and confronting her past while finding love with her best friend and the one person who understands her pain more than anyone else.  I hope you all enjoyed it and thank you for your comments and love on this journey!

One Year Later
The plane touched down in Gotham and Y/N stared out the window at the familiar setting.  Despite how much fun she had had on her year long sojourn with Jason there was still a part of her that had missed home.  She missed the way the city sounded during the day with the hustle and bustle of people.  She missed the pancakes from that shop she had frequented as a teen.  It wasn’t perfect, but it was home and she didn’t know how she had done without it for all those years after her rebirth.
That was how she had come to think of her resurrection.  It was a rebirth.  She wanted to put a positive spin on it after so long of it controlling her and bothering her.  She still had her bad days, but she wasn’t going to let her past and the bad that she had done after coming back define her any longer.  With Jason’s help she had come to terms with her past and learned that she was worthy of love.
“How did you convince me to give you the window seat… again?”  Jason’s voice came from beside her, it was a little groggy from sleep, but he was looking at her with a mischievous spark in his eyes.
She stuck her tongue out at him, “Because you love me?”
He moved in close to her and smirked, “I do love you.”  Then he kissed her sweetly.
The two of them had grown a lot over the past year together.  They had been all over the world from Lagos to Paris to Tokyo and so many others.  They had shipped souvenirs of their time in these countries to Bruce for safekeeping until they got back.  Y/N had gotten snow globes and flags of each of the places they had gone to visit.  Jason had been in charge of pictures and he gathered postcards that he meant only for himself.
With their bags collected they headed to their apartment which looked the same as always.  Tim had made sure nothing happened to it while they were away.  They tossed their bags down and collapsed onto the couch together, tired but happy.  “You need to call Bruce,” she reminded Jason.
He groaned, “He’s gonna want to see us.”
“I don’t care,” Y/N poked his stomach.  “You promised that you would call once we landed and were home safe and sound.”
Jason sighed and dug his phone out of his pocket and pulled up Bruce’s contact info.  “If we have to go to the manor I’m blaming you,” he told her as his finger hovered over the call button.
She laughed and stood, “Let me know what he says.  I’m gonna go shower the plane off of me.”  Then she disappeared into the bedroom to take her shower.
Just as Jason predicted he wanted them to come by the manor and he said to dress appropriately which meant there was gonna be a surprise party.  “He’s not slick,” Jason said around his toothbrush.  “He wants us to believe that it’s just gonna be a quiet dinner at home and then everyone we know is gonna be there and we’ll have to tell the same stories at least fifty different times tonight.”
“And it’ll be fine.  I’m sure they won’t make us stay too long.  Plus we got gifts for the others that I want to hand out,” Y/N told him as she put the finishing touches on her outfit.  She was wearing a dress she had bought in Paris, and Jason was already eying her.  “No,” she pointed a finger at him.
“Come on, babe, I’ll make it worth your while,” his arms went around her waist and his minty fresh breath fanned across her neck as he bent to kiss her.
She gently pried him off of her, “Nah-uh, you’re not going to rope me into doing anything because we’re already running behind because you wanted a quickie in the shower.”
That got him to smirk, “Sweetheart that was definitely not a quickie.”
She tried to glare at him, but she couldn’t help the grin forming on her face.  “I hate you,” she said.
He chuckled, “No you don’t, you love me.”
“I do,” she sighed.  “So damn much.”
“That’s my girl,” he said as he sat her on the counter of the sink and began kissing her neck again.
An idea struck Y/N and she said, “Jay if you stop and finish getting ready I’ll make it worth your while later tonight.”
His hand paused on her calf, and he looked up at her, “I’m listening.”
She smirked, “Oh sweetheart,” she turned his nickname against him.  “I’ll make your wildest dreams come true.”  She gripped his chin between her fingers, “But you have to behave.”
He stole one more kiss, “You win, Blackbird.”
Slipping off the counter Y/N moved back into the bedroom, “I knew I would.”  The sound of his chuckle followed her.
Jason was ready five minutes later and they were off.  The manor was lit up like a Christmas tree when they pulled in, and there were several cars in the driveway along with motorcycles that they knew belonged to the boys.  Y/N wondered just how many people were actually waiting inside when they entered.  Bruce knew that they knew something was going to happen, but he was still going to try and surprise them.
“Miss Y/L/N, Jason,” Alfred smiled when he opened the door for them.  “It is wonderful to see the two of you again.”
“You too, Alfred,” she said as she kissed his cheek.
Jason patted Alfred on the shoulder, “So how many people are we going to be greeted by?”
“I am not at liberty to say,” Alfred told them.  “This way.”  He ushered them into the living room where a group of people was waiting.
“WELCOME HOME!”  They all shouted when they saw Y/N and Jason round the corner.
Bruce was the first to greet them, followed by Tim, Damian, Barbara, Duke, Cassandra, Stephanie, and Kor’i.
Y/N’s eyes went to the back of the room where Dick was lingering, he offered her a smile when he noticed her looking and she gave him a little wave before her attention was pulled away by something Barbara was trying to tell her.
It wasn’t until later that she finally got to talk to Dick.  He had pulled her aside after the gifts had been given out that they had a moment.  Together they stepped outside onto the back patio where they could have a moment alone.
“I should probably say sorry first and foremost,” he said as he rubbed the back of his neck.  “I didn’t handle you coming back to life in the best way.”
Y/N chuckled, “I think you handled it the best way that you could, Dick.”
He smiled at that, “It took me awhile to realize that things couldn’t be the same.  We’ve both changed since that day you died.  I was just so caught up in the past that I didn’t realize that we couldn’t just pick up from where we left off.”
“If things had been different maybe we would still be together,” Y/N admitted.  “But we’ll never know now and to be honest I’m pretty happy where I am.  I’ve grown a lot in the past year with Jason and coming back.  And I’m sorry I never told you I was still alive and that you found out like you did.  But I just wasn’t ready to see you, not after I tried killing you.”
He nodded at her words, “Kor’i really helped me understand things from your perspective and helped me grow past them.  I realized that you were right, we were different people and that  that’s okay.  All that mattered to me was that you were still in my life in whatever way possible.”  He placed a hand on her shoulder, “As long as you’re happy that’s all that matters to me.”
Warmth spread through her and she wrapped her arms around Dick, “Thank you, Dick.  And I just want you to be happy too.  That’s all I’ve ever wanted for you.”  They broke apart and she nudged him with her shoulder, “So you want to tell me what’s going on between you and Kor’i?”
His cheeks heated, “We’ve been dating for a few months now.”
“That’s great!”  Y/N gushed.  “I’m happy for you, she’s a great person.”
“She is,” Dick said, happy that you agreed.  “And you and Jason seem happy together, I’m glad he was there for you when you needed him.”
“Me too,” she said softly.  “I didn’t feel so alone after I came back.  Jason knew what it was like and he was really there for me.  I love him.”
“He loves you too,” Dick glanced inside and saw Jason watching them, he didn’t look mad or upset, just curious.  “Do you think he’s gonna ask you to marry him?”
“Oh God, I don’t know,” she laughed.  “We talked about it a couple of times, but I think we’re just enjoying life right now.  Plus I think he wanted to wait until we got back to Gotham before we made any big life decisions.”
“Can I make one request?”  Dick asked.
Curious she asked, “What’s that?”
“If the two of you do get married, could I… be the one that gives you away?”  It was a weird request, but it made sense.
“I’d really like that, Dick,” she took his hand and squeezed it.  “But I have to get engaged first.”
Dick looked at his brother again and knew it was only a matter of time before Jason asked Y/N to be his for the rest of their lives.  “Yeah, we’ll just have to wait and see.”  He slung his arm around her and said, “Come on, we’re missing out on the party.”
And the two of them walked back inside together.  Laughing as they caught Tim recounting a funny patrol story to Damian from their younger days.

Happy Holidays - Batmom x Batfam
Tumblr media
Hope you’ll like it, boom (also, when I say “Christmas”, I’m not talking about the RELIGIOUS aspect of it all. After all, Bruce is part Jewish so you know...might as well be happy Hanukah. What I mean is more about being with family, giving each other presents and just enjoying this moment to be with your loved ones if that makes sense ? It’s basically “happy holiday” rather than Christmas...I’m not sure I’m making sense, it’s mostly cause in French, the word for “Christmas” doesn’t have anything to do with the religion and...Uh. WHAT I MEAN IS, I’m not forgetting Bruce’s Jewish origin, I’m not erasing it, however I’m not writing a story about religion but about family time, and use “Christmas” just because we’re the 25th today...if that...makes sense...) :
You can find my masterlist here : @ella-ravenwood-archives
__________________________________________________
-Yes Dickie, going Christmas shopping on the 24th is a stupid idea...No I’m not going to stop calling you Dickie, I don’t care that you’re 24, you’re still my little boy so shut up. Oh no my son, you won't get me that easily this time, it’s your own fault you’re Christmas shopping that late, so you handle yourself on your own. Oh so now you’re pulling the “little boy” card uh ? Well it’s not working. Good luck sweetie, see you tonight for dinner. Don’t be late.
You hung up your phone as your son was saying : “but moooooooooooom...” and smile, shaking your head slightly.
Oh that boy, always doing everything last minute.
You remember the first Christmas he spend with you and Bruce, when he was just a little eight year old boy...how he ran into the kitchen, on Christmas’ eve, panicked, and whispered (thinking you and Bruce wouldn’t hear) in the butler’s ear : “I don’t have a gift for Bruce or (Y/N), help me please !”.
Of course Alfred did help him, and your heart still beat with happiness whenever you think back on that day.
Dick bought (how adorable it was, that he kept all his pocket money just for that) you a necklace, and a watch for Bruce, but more importantly...he called you “mom” and “dad” for the first time, writing in a cute child’s handwriting “for mom” and “for dad” on your gifts, and asking shyly for the permission to do so...
Smiling back at the memory, you put your phone in your pocket and walk towards the living room. You smile some more when you receive a selfie of your oldest son, in a crowd in one of Gotham’s busiest mall, looking desperate, with the caption : “Why do I never learn ? :/”.
-Dick ?
You turn your face to your husband, who’s sitting on the couch and saw you entering the living room, and give him your widest grin. You nod. Yes.
Dick. As every single Christmas for the past fifteen years. The same antics.
Bruce opens his arms for you, and you go snuggle into them, wrapping yourself around his warmth, sighing in comfort.
Neither of you say anything, just enjoying each other’s presence, in those few hours of calm you’ll have before the entre family will swarm Wayne Manor and surely make a mess. Bruce caresses your back absentmindedly, holding you close to him, and as on its own accord, your mind drifts towards him, your children and Christmas...
************
Damian was the first to buy Christmas presents for the family.
He would never admit it, but he was just too excited about this time of the year, a time where the entire family would gather (it was so rare to have all of you together at the same time) and just spend quality times all together !
He went on the first of December, right after Halloween, to do his Christmas shopping, which you thought was hilarious and sweet. But also very smart, at least, he wouldn’t have to rush like Dick was right now. And oh it was just too cute and adorable to see him that excited about it (though he tried to, without much success, hide it behind an emotionless face as if he didn’t care).
Tim also went pretty early to shop.
One day, right after patrol, around six am, he went to one of those 24 hours opened gift shops that were trendy lately in Gotham center, and bought things for all of you.
The next day, there were pictures of him trying to hide the things he bought, glaring at paparazzis that were snapping his portrait...those were suppose to be surprises !
And oh it was quite something to see him, half-asleep, coming home at eight in the morning, holding the packages against his chest, and disappearing a few minutes to hide them (Damian always tried to find his gifts in advance...it was a pain in the ass to hide things from him all the time !).
Jason, bought everything online, too lazy to actually go out.
But the day the delivery arrived, the way he ran out, making sure Damian wouldn’t put his hands on the presents, was the cutest thing you’ve ever seen.
The way he gathered the boxes in his arms, and ran back to his room to hide the gifts while trying to avoid Damian melted your heart...
Cassandra didn’t really understand the concept of “Christmas” and you had to explain it to her. Things got a bit out of hand and you went all the way back to the pagan fest that was Saturnalia.
You also talked about every single event happening during this time...Cass’ got particularly interested in Hanukah (you guys did this a bit earlier in the week, your own way, just like you did Christmas your own way, not really following the religious standards...) because she knew her father’s mom, Martha, was Jewish, and she wanted to know more about all this because of that.
You even talked about Kwanza and other such holidays and after hours of philosophical conversation and history, talking about all the damn holiday between October and January, Cassandra finally understood what “Christmas” was, and left the manor for a few hours. She came back with the trunk of her car full of presents, and more excited than ever about the prospect of some quality family time.
It was Duke’s first Christmas with you guys, and you could see he felt utterly sad that you still didn’t find any way to bring his parents’ back from their current state...He’s the only one with whom you went to Christmas’ shop, making sure he knew and understood he was part of the Wayne family forever, and you’d always be here to support him. Always.
It actually turned into a very emotional moment, and some important bonding between you and him...Which was really what Christmas was about in your book, wasn’t it ? Duke thanked you with a clumsy hug, and you didn’t let go until you were absolutely sure that he was loved.
Dick of course, was always late, as stated before.
Alfred, was the opposite of Dick, always very organized. No one ever saw him Christmas shop and yet, every single Christmas ever since you started to date Bruce seriously, there was gifts under the tree with all your names on it, from your favorite and beloved butler...It was a mystery really, how he managed this.
After his parents’ death, Bruce started to hate Christmas. Every single year reminding him that he lost the two people he loved the most in the World, reminding him that he didn’t have a family anymore...And then he found you.
You kinda tumbled in his life, without any warning, and stuck around. Change his life completely, messed everything up...in the best way possible. Before you, he never expected to ever be happy again and yet...yet you arrived one day, in all your glorious wit and stubborness, and never let him go, never gave up on me, no matter how much of an asshole he was to you.
The first Christmas you spend together made him feel like he wasn’t doomed to live a life without any hope nor love. The first Christmas you spend together made him realize that...Things weren’t over. There was still beauty in this World.
Thanks to you, Bruce liked Christmas again. And then, when your children came along...He had a family. Once again. People who loved him, people he loved...people he’ll never leave, and will always protect.
He always took time off his busy schedule to buy gifts for all of you. Not always expensive, always something you’d want. It was impressive, how he could remember something you guys said once, how he always knew what to get you to make you all happy.
The thought of all your family members and their approach of Christmas made you happy, but also reminded you of something that wasn’t that great about this period of time.
************
Being able to gather your entire family in the same place was a fucking nightmare.
Your two oldest son, Dick and Jason didn’t even live in the manor anymore, and had such damn busy life. Tim was always doing something, and when he had free time, he would sleep, completely exhausted. Damian was often around, being a momma’s boy, but also needed to be alone often. Cass loved to spend time on her own, and would rather be there when it was just you, just one of her brother, just Alfred, just her dad...Duke was also very busy. All of you were, and more often than not, you’d just be able to gather three of your children at a time.
So when Christmas was coming...Of course, no one would skip Christmas’ eve’s dinner. Oh no. The food called upon them too much. And for some reason, Christmas’ eve was the calmest night in Gotham and so far never really required the presence of the “Batfam” ! As if even villains and criminals spend their time with their loved ones...Christmas’ eve was the opposite of the dreaded Halloween.
But before said dinner ? And the morning after where you’d all open your gifts ? It was nearly impossible to gather the entire family !
And yet, you had to. Not just because you wanted them all there, of course you did...but the reason you had to all be together before anything happened was because you needed to take an “official” Christmas’ photo.
The famous Wayne family had to send their greetings to Gotham City. It was a tradition, something people in the city actually expected, and a damn pain in the ass !
It always took you and Alfred weeks to prepare everything. To make sure everyone would show up, to find a discreet photographer who wouldn’t be tempted to take pictures of the inside of the mansion, or extra unwanted pictures of the family (those would sell for thousands of dollars to any Gotham’s newspaper !) etc etc.
Oh and let’s not forget the fight to make them wear the infamous ugly Christmas sweaters. It was another tradition, and a joy for Gothamites to see the Waynes in true Christmas spirit !
It was awful, to constantly argue with all of them...Dick would hate the color of his sweater, Damian would think it was not the right size, Jason would argue that it didn’t fit his rebel personality, Cass would hate the feel of the wool, Duke would hate the design, Tim would say he was allergic to the fabric, Bruce would just be grumpy overall...But you’d always convince them to wear their damn sweaters.
This year, Bruce was wearing a navy blue one with snowflakes on it, Dick had a green one with candy canes, Jason a red one with snowmen, Damian a brown and red one with reindeers, Tim a green and red one with the words “ho ho ho” and “merry Christmas”, Cass a light blue one with a gingerbread house, and Duke a green and brown one with a Christmas tree on it.
You had the same one than Bruce, and chose it just to annoy him. You knew how he hated the cheesiness of those sweaters, and you and him wearing matching ones always exasperated him because the headline of the newspapers the next day would surely be “lovebirds something something” and he hated people commenting on his personal life with you !
Your husband knew you did it on purpose, and yet, as every year, when you arrived in the room and he saw you had the same sweater than him, he rolled his eyes and pursed his lips in annoyance...though one glance and a kiss from you and it was all gone.
The photographer took a few pictures of you, telling you guys how to behave and god all of you hated how fake all this was...You all smiled forcefully (though you had so much practice at fake smiling that it looked genuine), and awkwardly stood there for an hour.
You then went to choose the picture you’d send to everyone and...The only one you actually liked was one the photographer took without telling you.
Bruce had his arm around your shoulder and was looking at you lovingly, you were looking back with a smile...Your children were all close, in each others’ arms, imitating jokingly some pictures of some families, acting like they were in a sitcom...and yet it was the best picture.
Yes. It would always be such a hassle to be able to reunite your entire family, and so much “fights” about those damn sweaters !
This year, you had to almost force Damian to wear it, giving him your famous batglare, and Jason “accidentally” burned his...unfortunately for him, you always had a few extra sweaters, knowing damn well each year at least one of your kids would try to ruin their as to not wear them (Cass slashed hers with saber once, Tim “misplaced” it in the chimney, Damian once said that Titus ate it, Dick lost it in one of the pit in the bat cave...Those damn kids).
Yes, it was difficult...but you’d always manage it (bless was the day Alfred entered the Wayne family’s life, because without him, it would be impossible to organize everything really). A few days before Christmas, you’d all gather and take those damn pictures.
Well, you’d take two actually. One taken professionally, to put on Christmas cards you’d send every single employee of Wayne inc, and a few newspapers so they could post it the next day. One none of you would really enjoy to take...And one, taken by only you, where you’d wear another special kind of ugly sweater...
Barbara Gordon, Dick’s girlfriend and dear friend of the family, to the surprise of many, was a huge knitting fan. It soothed her and it was one of the only thing her mother ever taught her, before abandoning her, her (psychotic) brother and beloved father.
Every single year, her gifts to all of you would be a knitted sweater she’d make herself, inspired by you all.
Dick’s was blue, and had Nightwing symbol on it, with his weapons of choice (the two sticks) all around the collar and the bottom of the sweater.
Jason’s was red, with little hoods, and a “I’m back, bitch” on it (you rolled your eyes at it, but of course, Jay absolutely loved it).
Tim’s was green and yellow, with little cups of coffee and written : “Sleep is for the weak” on it.
Damian’s was red and green and had little robins all around.
Cass’ was dark blue, with written “I’m a motherfucking princess and I can beat your ass” on it, which also made you roll your eyes and made Bruce frown but...That fitted her pretty well really.
Duke’s was yellow and had an “R” on it, with a bat symbol around.
Bruce’s was black with a bat on it, very simple really. Always the same...or rather, always seemed the same, as each year, she used a different bat symbol.
Alfred’s was red and had “sassy butler” written on it, with little butlers all around it.
Yours was also often the same. It was always written “Batmom” on it, and was in your favorite color, (F/C), even if it wasn’t always very Christmassy. All around your collar and bottom of your sweater were the symbols of your sons’ and husband’s costumes. Of course.
Those sweaters you’d always wear proudly, because Barbara was important in all of your lives, and her gifts valuable (and funny really..Also very sweet).
And you’d take a picture in it, that would fit your family’s personality. On this one, Alfred would be in of course (he couldn’t be in the “official” one as he was suppose to only be a mere “butler”).
You and Bruce would always kiss under the mistletoe on it, making at least one of your children make a “ew” face.
This year, it was Damian’s turn. He was standing right below you two, in between your bodies, his arms around your waists, realizing you were kissing, making a disgusted face.
Dick was laying across the floor on the bottom, one of his legs held by Tim who seemed tired but had the most genuine smile on his face.
Jay had his elbow on Tim’s shoulder and a cute smile too, while Cass was in the middle, holding Duke in her arms, both of them a warm smile on their faces too.
Alfred was rolling his eyes at you and Bruce kissing of course, one hand on Damian’s shoulder, sympathetic. His other hand on Tim’s who was the closest (one of Tim’s hand holding his).
All of you guys were in contact with each others, showing how close you all were. Yes.
This picture was your favorite.
Dick entered your life fifteen years ago, starting this little tradition of a “personal” picture when a ten year old Barbara gave you, Bruce and her new best friend Dick a sweater she knitted...
In your bedroom, on the wall where you’d put all your favorite pictures, was a part reserved for those special Christmas one. Fifteen of them, with the family growing bigger every now and then. But also showing how things weren’t always happy and easy...Two of those pictures were painful ones. One was missing Jason, the other Damian, souvenirs of some of the toughest time of your life...You kept them up though. It was important to remember.
All your children had copies of the pictures in their bedroom as well.
************
You were thinking about all that, comfortably settled in your husband’s arms, when you heard them...They had spend the day together, spending precious bonding time between siblings, going out in the snow, going ice skating too.
They all busted in the living room, their cheeks red because of the cold, their eyes shiny with happiness.
You knew it was a special day when none of them said “ew” when they saw you and Bruce in each others’ arms, and instead came to you to give you each a kiss and a hug, talking excitedly about their days.
Dick was missing of course, as he left them early to do his damn Christmas shopping...but soon enough, you heard him rush in and going to hide his gifts, before coming back in the living room.
Christmas was starting now.
************
As each year, Alfred surpassed himself, cooking an absolutely amazing dinner (vegetarian for Damian...no turkey was on the table, as your youngest son decided to adopt the turkey as his pet...).
You all talked about everything and nothing, and not once the subject of your nightly patrols were risen. Not a single time did any of you even think about it...
For Bruce, it was proof that you were made of pure magic. Because there was no illusion there...you were the center of it all. The reason everyone gathered around the table, the reason he and all of your children grew to love Christmas.
The reason none of them, not even him, the always so stoic and disciplined man, thought one bit about their night mission. Not one single bit.
And Bruce never felt guilty about it either, no. No Christmas was a special day. The only time of the year when he truly could be completely carefree.
And it was all thanks to you.
And so here you all wear, gathered around a huge table full of great food, laughing loudly and searing of happiness, on Christmas’ eve.
All thanks to your very existence.
************
Christmas would also be the only night where all of you would almost have ten hours of sleep. After dinner, you’d watch a Christmas classic (Home Alone and Die Hard were some of the favorite), and then, after a few glasses of eggnog and good night kisses, would go to bed full and content.
The next day you’d all wake up completely fresh, and rush to the tree to open your gifts, spend more time all together and realize how much you all loved each others. How much you all counted for each other.
How none of you could exist anymore with one of you missing...
Christmas was a special day in the Wayne family.
A day where you could all forget every worry and just spend time with each other.
A day of pure joy and bliss.
And though the 26th everything would be back to normal, though things weren’t always easy again and life was difficult for all of you. Though you were still all full of issues and such...The 25th and Christmas’ eve were your special moments of the year.
A family day.
A day of love and shared happiness.
A perfect day.

Let it Snow
Pairings: Batfam x reader, Jason Todd x reader
Word count: 4239
Summary: It’s the famous Wayne Christmas gala and so far it’s as boring as you would expect it to be, until (Y/N) comes up with a plan to liven things up that results in a little more than she expected.
“(Y/N) do we really have to go to this thing?” Jason groaned as (Y/N) stood in front of him straightening his tie for the second time and she giggled glancing up at him.
“Yes, Jay, we really do have to go to this thing. Bruce invited to this Christmas gala of his and the least we can do is show up to it, since he made the effort to invite us.” (Y/N) said as she patted his chest once she was done with his tie and took a step back from him. His hands wrapped around hers before she could pull them away and he pulled her towards him, letting go of her hands he moved them so that they were resting on her hips.
“Come on, baby, I can think of several other things that I would rather be doing than going to that stupid gala. Several more fun things if I do say so myself.” Jason's voice dropped to a low timber that sent the most delicious of chills down her spine and she bit her bottom lip looking up at him, wrapping her arms around his neck and lightly dragging her fingernails across the nape of his neck.
“Mmmmm as much as I would love to Jay, we really have to get going. How about later though?” She asked and Jason groaned dropping his head to her shoulder, whining pathetically (he’ll deny that he whined if asked about it though) as he kissed up her bare shoulder to her neck, right to the sensitive spot underneath her jaw.
“Now would be much more preferable,” Jason mumbled dragging his teeth over that soft spot and (Y/N) bit her lip against a soft moan that threatened to escape. Jason pulled her closer, pressing her against him her body so much softer than his and he desperately wanted to feel her body without the layer of clothes between them. That much (Y/N) could feel but she wasn’t going to lie she wanted to feel him without a layer of clothes too but she also really wanted to go to the gala too and if they stalled any longer they were going to be late.
“As tempting as that is, it’s not going to happen Jay. You’re going to have to wait till later.” She said as she pulled away from him and grabbed his face, pulling him down to her and swiftly kissing him before she stepped back from him fully and turned and grabbed her coat off the back of the couch.
“Fiiiiine,” Jason whined grabbing his suit jacket and pulling it on. (Y/N) gave him a once over before nodding her head.
“Good, now how do I look?” She asked motioning to herself with her free hand. Jason looked her over and licked his lips at the sight. (Y/N) was wearing a dark red floor length dress with an asymmetrical neckline that hugged her body in all the right way and seemed to flow seamlessly around her legs every time she moved.
“You look fucking sexy,” Jason answered and (Y/N) giggled, blushing slightly as she pulled on her coat and walked up to him kissing his cheek.
“Thank you, Jay, you look pretty sexy too, now do you have the invitations?” She asked as she walked towards the door, grabbing her purse off the little side table. Jason groaned again in mild resistance and frustration as he walked towards her, checking the inside pocket of his jacket to see the invitations sitting there.
“Yeah we’ve got the invitation, hey you got your protection?” He asked as the two of them stepped out into the hallway and she rolled her eyes at him even though she understood his concern.
“If you mean the Batarang currently stashed in my purse then yes I do, and I’m just going to outright assume you’ve got yours in your back pockets.” She spoke in a hushed tone as they walked to the elevator bank of their apartment building. Jason smiled, winking at her as they stepped into the elevator.
“Always, you should see what else I’ve got stashed in my purse though it’s a lot better than what’s in yours.” He wiggled his eyebrows at her and she laughed, dropping her head to look at the floor of the elevator shaking her head at him. He laughed along with her, wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her into his side.
“Oh you love me and you know it.” He teased and she shook her head looking up at him, a large smile plastered on his face.
“Unfortunately so.” She responded and he faked a look of hurt and shock, one of his hands coming up to cover his chest as he gasped overdramatically.
“Rude.” He stated and (Y/N) laughed again, leaning into him as he chuckled back a smile coming across his face at seeing her smile and laugh.
~At the gala~
Jason sighed as he leaned against the wall at the side of the room watching the people of the elite society dance and mingle and drink champagne and act like they were all good friends or delighted to be in each others company when in reality they’d all probably already had a plan to stab each and every one of them in the back. That was what he always hated about these things, other than the fact that they were boring as all hell (actually no that’s a lie hell is more interesting than these things), most of these people if not all of them were all fake and couldn’t give a rats ass about anyone but themselves. All they cared about was making themselves look good and boost their public ratings or some crap like that. Plus these suit and tie events, while he didn’t mind going to them if they involved catching one of the bad guys or to get information out of someone, just really weren’t his thing. They never were, the only reason he came to this thing was that (Y/N) wanted to come to this thing and he couldn’t say no to her when she begged him to go. Besides she’d never really been to one of these before despite the two of them have been dating for two years and her being an unofficial yet active member of the family, so he figured just this once he could make an exception and come to this thing for her.
He grabbed a champagne glass as a server walked by and he scanned the crowd in front of him searching for (Y/N) who should be returning from the bathroom any second now. Instead of spotting his girlfriend though he saw Dick making his way towards and Jason sighed through his nose suppressing the groan building in his chest. This was the second reason why he hated coming to these things, because if he had to come then that meant the rest of his family and while he may be on good terms with the rest of his family they still annoyed the hell out of him (well except for Tim, though Tim had his days were Jason couldn’t stand him either.) Jason quickly downed the rest of the champagne before setting it down on the little side table beside him, and briefly, he considered whether or not he could get away with sneaking out of here. Then he thought about how pissed (Y/N) would be to find that he ditched her, and he stayed put a frustrated look crossing his face.
“What’s up Dick?” Jason asked as Dick came to stand beside him.
“Nothing just had to get away from all that. Where’d (Y/N) go?” Dick asked and Jason turned his head to look at him.
“Bathroom. Couldn’t handle all of old man’s friends could you?” Jason teased, a smile tugging at his lips as he looked at Dick and Dick rolled his eyes.
“I think my feet might fall off if I have to dance one more time, I swear the number of people who have asked me to dance tonight alone makes Bruce’s training seem like a vacation. It makes me wish I could have gotten out of this like Barbara and the others.” Dick muttered the last part and Jason chuckled.
“Yeah I’m glad I don’t have that problem, (Y/N) isn’t too big on dancing.” Jason gloated a cocky smile crossing his face as he looked at Dick and Dick scowled at him before rolling his eyes.
“Shut up Jason,” Dick grumbled and Jason cocky smile grew.
“I do not understand why father insisted on all of us being here when we would be much more beneficial out on the streets,” Damian said as him and Tim walked up to Jason and Dick causing the two of them to jump slightly at their sudden appearance.
“Well this a Wayne gala and well we are Bruce Wayne’s kids, it’s kinda expected by everyone that we all show up to it,” Tim answered. Jason and Dick glanced at each other, confused about everything that just happened.
“Ah, hey guys, wanna fill us in on this?” Dick motioned to the two of them and they both looked towards Jason and Dick like they’d just realized that the two of them were standing there.
“Damian’s been complaining about having to be here at the gala instead of being anywhere else like Steph and the others,” Tim informed them and Jason and Dick nodded.
“I have not been complaining, I have simply been questioning father’s priorities.” Damian defended himself and Jason rolled his eyes.
“Give it a break spawn, we’re all stuck here till it’s over because people will notice if we bail out early or at least they’ll notice if Dick bails out early and then us,” Jason stated and Dick rolled his eyes.
“Are you sure they wouldn’t notice your lack of ego first, Todd?” Damian asked and Jason glared at him. Jason opened his mouth to say something back but he stopped when (Y/N) suddenly appeared in front of them.
“Finally here you are. I’ve been looking all over the room for you. Oh good, you’re all here too.” (Y/N) said as she looked at the four of them and Jason raised an eyebrow at her. He stared at her for a few minutes noticing the glint in her eyes that meant she was planning something which also meant that Jason was on board with whatever it was and hopefully the plan involved them getting out of here.
“Why is it good that we’re all here?” Tim asked and a smile crossed (Y/N)’s face as she grabbed Jason’s hand.
“Because I know of a way to liven this up a bit, well at least for the five of us.” She said as she began dragging pulling Jason towards one of the exits of the room, confident that the others would follow out of curiosity. Jason stared at her in confusion as he followed her out of the room and towards the back of the manor, he glanced over his shoulder at Dick, Tim, and Damian who had, in fact, followed them to see them staring at her in equal confusion.
“Ah, babe, you want to fill us in on what’s going on?” Jason asked and she glances back at him, that smile never leaving her face.
“Yes, it’s snowing outside.” She stated leaving Jason and the others in more confusion than before. As they walked to the back of the manor, Jason looked out one of the windows as they walked by to see that it was in fact lightly snowing.
“What are you planning?” Jason voice the question everyone was thinking.
“You’ll see.” (Y/N) said in a sing-song voice, her pace quickening as they arrived at the large french doors leading out onto the back patio and lawn. All of the outside lights had been turned on illuminating the area. (Y/N) let go of Jason’s hand and walked up to the door spinning around when she got to them, reaching behind her she placed her hands on the door handles and smiled at the boys.
“Ok, so what’s so important about the snow and the backyard?” Dick asked and (Y/N)’s smile grew even more if that was possible, her hands tightening on the door knobs.
“Well, I know how much all of you don’t want to be here, and would rather be outside on patrol or anywhere else so I’ve decided that what you people need is some fun. So I propose to you the idea of a snowball fight where the winner of said fight gets to choose what movie we watch Christmas morning.” (Y/N) had thrown open the doors as she spoke causing a gush of cold air and snow to sweep into the room chilling them but she saw the little glimmer in their eyes as they considered her proposal. A smirk crossed her face as she winked at Jason who bit his bottom lip, he knew what the wink meant and he would be damned if he was going to say no so he shrugged and walked outside.
“Why the hell not.” He stated his breath fogging out in front of him as he spoke and (Y/N) made a noise of excitement as she bounced a little before hugging him.
“Thanks, Jay.” She said, kissing his cheek before she cried out in shock when snow hit her in the back suddenly.
“No kissing, this is war!” Dick declared and (Y/N) laughed letting go of Jason and spinning around to face Dick.
“Oh, you’re gonna regret that Dick.” (Y/N) stated as she bent down and scooped up some snow, pacing it down slightly before hurling it at Dick who flipped out of the way laughing.
“Gonna have to try harder than that (Y/N)!” Dick teased and (Y/N) scowled, before making another snowball and attempting to throw it at Dick.
“Go (Y/N)!” Tim shouted as he joined them outside grabbing his own snowball and attempting to throw it at Dick who laughed as he easily dodges them causing both Tim and (Y/N) to scowl.
“Tt, children,” Damian muttered as he turned around to return to the gala. A smirk crossed Jason’s face as he bent down and made a snowball before standing up and hurling it at Damian, hitting him square in the back. Everyone froze and fell deathly silent looking between Damian and Jason as Damian slowly turned around and glared at Jason.
“You will pay for that Todd.” Damian threatened walking out onto the patio and Jason smirked.
“Only if you can hit me.” Jason teased and Damian growled bending down and picking up a snowball then launching it at Jason who dodged it. Jason smirked as he picked up his own and threw it at Damian who ducked out of the way.
“Snowball fight!” (Y/N) shouted, before the five of them dissolved into shouts and flying snowballs as they ran all over the patio and back lawn attempting to beat the others.
~Back inside the gala~
“Master Wayne, I believe there is something you need to see,” Alfred whispered as he walked up behind Bruce. Bruce’s eyes widened slightly, that was never a good thing.
“Um, would you please excuse me for a moment. Thank you.” Bruce said as he stepped back from the conversation at hand, leaving the people shocked and curious but they all nodded watching as Bruce followed Alfred out of the room.
“What is it, Alfred? What’s wrong?” Bruce asked as they walked towards the back of manor.
“You’ll see sir,” Alfred responded and Bruce sighed already thinking of the top twenty things that his children could have done, the list grew the more he thought about what they could have done. Alfred leads him into the room leading out to the back and his eyes widened at the sight before him. Bruce blinked a couple of times, he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
“Alfred, what is going on?” Bruce asked watching as Jason, Dick, Damian, Tim, and (Y/N) ran around the backyard in their formal wear screaming, laughing, and throwing snowballs at each other. He watched as Jason slid in the snow nearly falling to the ground which caused (Y/N), Dick, and Tim to nearly fall to the ground laughing. Bruce’s eyes widened when he saw the smallest of smiles cross Damian’s face.
“I believe they’re having a snowball fight, sir,” Alfred answered a small proud and happy smile grew on his face as he watched them throw snow at each other, not caring about the small piles of snow that had drifted inside thanks to the wind.
“Ok good, so you can see it too, I was a little worried,” Bruce muttered more to himself than to Alfred as he watched the fighting continue, a small smile spreading across his face the longer he watched. He and Alfred stood there watching the fighting and listening to their almost childish laughter and screams something neither of them had heard in a long time.
Jason smiled as he stood off to the side, taking a breather and watching as (Y/N) chucked more snow at his brothers. God, he couldn’t remember the last time he’d smiled this much in a long time, sure there were the times with (Y/N) where he thought that he hadn’t stopped smiling the entire time but those were different. Those moments were with her and whenever he was with her he couldn’t help but smile because she truly and honestly made him happy, made him not want to be an entirely reckless fuck out on patrol or on a mission. No, he couldn’t remember a time when he’d smiled this much around his family to the point where his cheeks hurt usually he only smiled a handful of times around them.
As he stood there watching her throw snow, going blissfully unnoticed by Dick, Damian, and Tim, his mind drifted to something that he’d been thinking about for the past month or so. He slipped his hand into his pocket, his fingers wrapping around the small velvet box in his pocket and as he held it he felt that familiar nervousness that wormed its way into him every time he thought about this. He didn’t understand why this made him nervous though, he’s Jason Fucking Todd he should be afraid to ask a girl a simple question then why was he internally panicking when he found himself walking towards her pulling the ring out of his pocket. They all fell silent when he walked up behind her and cleared his throat in a way that demanded attention and once (Y/N) was turned around he lowered himself to one knee and held up the now open box showing off the simple yet intricate ring sitting inside. His heart was hammering in his chest and he was struggling to keep his hands steady as (Y/N)’s eyes widened in shock and her hands flew up to cover her mouth, Dick, Tim, and Damian having equally shocked expressions at what was going on before them.
“Jason?” (Y/N) asked hesitantly and he gave her a nervous smile as he cleared his throat.
“I….I, ah, I had planned on doing something really romantic and special and making this huge scene at some big fancy restaurant but for some reason, this seems more fitting. So (Y/N) (Y/L/N) will you marry me?” Jason asked and he could hear his blood rushing through his ears as he waited nervously for (Y/N) to answer his question. For what felt like an hour he stood there kneeling and looking up at her before she lowered her hands revealing the large smile on her face and released a squeal.
“Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!” (Y/N) shouted tackling him to the ground, her arms wrapped around his neck as she kissed him. He caught her wrapping his arms around her waist, one hand holding on to the ring tightly as he kissed her back putting as much love and passion into the kiss as he could manage. Pulling away (Y/N) smiled down at him and he returned the smile unwrapping his arms from around her, he grabbed one of her hand and slipped the ring on to her finger.
“YAY!!!” Dick and Tim shouted in unison and the next thing (Y/N) and Jason knew they were tackled to the ground in shouts of congratulations and joy.
“It’s about time Todd,” Damian stated and Jason moved his eyes to look at Damian who stood over him with his arms crossed over his chest but he couldn’t hide the little smirk on his face as he looked down at Jason and Jason rolled his eyes.
“Thanks spawn, now everyone off, I can’t breathe Dick is too heavy,” Jason grunted out moving his hips in an attempt to throw them all off of him but it only caused (Y/N) to squeak a little a blush spreading across her cheeks. Jason winked at her and her blush worsened.
“Hey! I’m not that heavy!” Dick shouted as he climbed off of them and Jason rolled his eyes a small smirk coming across his face.
“Whatever helps you sleep at night,” Jason muttered as (Y/N) rolled off of him and stood up, offering her hand to him which he took and stood up.
“Alfred can you go tell the-” “Already going to do so sir.” Alfred cut Bruce off before he could finish as he turned to walk back to the gala to tell the guest that an emergency had come up and that they would all need to leave so that they could properly take care of the situation at hand. As he walked away he discreetly wiped the single happy tear away. Bruce stayed there standing in the door with a proud smile as they all walked back to the house, lips blue and teeth chattering as their arms were wrapped around themselves.
“Father, how long have you been standing there?” Damian asked as they stepped into the house, Dick closing the door behind them.
“Long enough also Jason, (Y/N) congratulations I’m glad to finally have you as an official member of our family. Now all of you go upstairs and change, Alfred will go start a fire for you all and then we can call the others and tell them the good news.” Bruce stated watching as Jason reached down and grabbed (Y/N)’s hand nodding his head.
“Thanks, old man,” Jason said and (Y/N) rolled her eyes at him.
“Thank you, Bruce.” (Y/N) said as they all began walking away to go put on much warmer clothes, taking the back way upstairs to avoid the leaving party guests. Halfway towards the stairs, Jason pulled (Y/N against him and leaned down to whisper in her ear.
“You know I know a much better way to get warmer  than a fire.” He whispered and her cheeks grew a dark red as she smacked him lightly on the chest.
“Jason!” She hissed in an indignant voice and he chuckled as he swept her off her feet and held her bridal style. (Y/N) squeaked lightly in a shock wrapping her arms tightly around his neck as he hurried up the stairs leaving the others behind to roll their eyes at the two of them.
“Jason Peter Todd! You put me down right now! I can walk on my own!” She shouted kicking her legs in a weak attempt to get him to put her down but he just tightened his hold on her laughing.
“Oh, you won’t be after I get done with you,” Jason spoke in that deep grumbling tone of his that sent chills down her spine, well that and the cold. Her arms tightened slightly around his neck and she buried her face into his chest hiding her beat red face from view and he chuckled kissing the top of her head.
“Sometimes I don’t know whether or not if I hate you or if I love you.” Her voice came out muffled and he chuckled as he walked into the room they shared whenever they stayed at the manor.
“Well, the ring says that you clearly love me, but also you promised that later we could you know…..” Jason trailed off wiggling his eyebrows at her and she laughed leaning up and kissing him softly as he kicked the door closed.
“You’re right I did, and I guess now is technically later.” She said watching as Jason’s eyes lit up like an excited puppy.
“Is that another yes?” He asked and (Y/N) was sure that if he had a tail it would be wagging like crazy and she nodded her head.
“Yes, that means yes but we have to be quick, lord knows the others will hurry over to celebrate.” (Y/N) screamed in surprise when Jason tossed her on to the bed and laughed as she bounced once before Jason was on top of her pinning her to the bed.
“Thank god, I’ve been waiting all night,” Jason said and he kissed her stifling her giggles.
