Ryan was sheltered his whole life and the one time he tries to use his (untrained) powers he ends up killing the person he was trying to protect. To any normal person this was obviously a horrific accident but also not his fault. You can hate Homelander all you want but not everything he says is automatically wrong and the reason Ryan is with him is because butcher failed. You cannot blame a kid for choosing the person he believes will give him more love and security, especially when he has absolutely no context for any of the rest of it

He lays a trap (*cough* evil league of mutants episode *cough*) but instead of the enemy he was expecting, he gets this

Now Raphie ('03) doesn't have mystics or anything like that. But he's been a ninja for 30 years. He's fought a variety of monsters. Hell, he fought DINOSAURS in SPACE and WON. Draxum doesn't stand a chance.

In other words, if Raphie ended up going with Angie back to Rise, there would be NOTHING stopping him from claiming all those kids (including April) as his. he would take one look at these kids, see their very much still detached father and be like "nope, these are mine now." I imagine he would even try to train them properly (even though teaching is not his strong suit. it had to be better than mimicking movies.)

Honestly, in the normal version, if he could go through with Angie, he would have. But the portal wouldn't let him (it's basically a 'return to sender' portal. just sends them back to their normal dimension.) I mean, sure, he would have been worried about his own siblings, he'd have left them mid-fight, which is something he'd hate doing. But his brothers could handle themselves, and Angie needed him. So he would have went.
