The Typewriter Strikes Back

Tim's lips leave Daisy's feeling warm, and with poised dramatic steps, he roams onto the elevator, finally turning to her one last time.

"I love you!" She cries, hands and arms utterly helpless as they hug the typewriter close.

Tim smirks— "I know." They hold eye contact through the very last second, all the way until the doors break their line of sight and the elevator begins its descent.

A strange, guttural, chittering noise escapes Brian's throat, until he coughs it away. "Sorry, allergies. The dust—"

"No, I know, Brian," Daisy assures, "'S alright."

He bounces on his heels. "So are— are you two, erm..." His hand gestures around his chin— "You two really a couple now?"

Daisy's expression hardens, before a realization hits. An "Oh!" preludes her laughter, which would sound forced if it were coming out of anyone else's mouth. "B-because we? Oh ho, no, no no no, that was just a reference! Y'know, Star Wars. The scene where— no, you've seen it." With her hands occupied by the heavy contraption, her impassioned gesturing comes through in erratic sways of her whole body instead. She wiggles her head back and forth, seemingly pleased; "Just a tiddly bit between friends, yeah? Mates. Chaps. He likes to do it whenever he descends. Elevators, escalators— one time he did it down the stairs, but he completely toppled because he, um... went down backwards!"

Brian's eyes narrow: "The whole exchange?"

"Starting from the kiss!"

"E— every time?"

3. what’s you favorite watcher show?

If Weird and/or Wonderful World then I am dead etc etc etc!! I'm never going to stop being a WWW truther!!!! Also PodWatcher is really neat and I always wait anxiously for my yearly Making Watcher ep.

6. what show you wish they’d bring back?

Wellllllllll if I have to give a different answer than the obvious it's gotta be Homemade. I think it's the most beautiful show Watcher has ever made and it deserved a lot better than being impeded by the pandemic.

9. who would you like the boys to collaborate with?

My YouTube knowledge is incredibly narrow but I think Watcher should be doing more to promote their shows on other channels and I also think that the Try Guys should be having Steven Lim more often on their food content.

So. I have been neglecting TDATS, which is unfair, since it's the book I'm trying to finish right now. So I'm going to give some non-POV characters some love for this game.

🛏️ What does your OC’s bed look like? What would they like their bed to look like?

Zjav: All the bunks aboard the ship are identical with little privacy other than a pull-down curtain and little space other than the back wall and a tiny fold-out desk. Zjav has several pictures of his daughter Alrila, one of them torn and then taped back together so his ex-wife is in the frame. He also took some of his free time to experiment until he found the right materials on board to dye his blanket in a messy patchwork of color because he was so sick of gray. He has secretly wanted a fantasy four-poster since he was a little kid, with tons of space to roll over and a full curtain around it. But that wasn't an option for him even on Earth.

January: As a geneticist, she thinks printed out cheesy science memes decorating her wall are funny. She also regularly writes out ideas and theories directly on the wall or ceiling of her bunk, despite the abundance of available screens, smearing whatever idea she'd had before. It never occurred to her to mess with the gray blanket or sheets. In general, she doesn't care too much what her space looks like as long as it's practical and she can have her memes for a chuckle.

🪨 Someone gifts your OC a shiny rock. What do they do with it?

Dlar: to him, it would be more about the sentiment than the gift itself. He takes pride in the patience and gratitude he has learned over his long life, and at 72 he's happy to play father/grandfather to just about everyone he meets. If one of these people gave him a shiny rock, he would show it off prominently in his bunk or by his workspace and be sure to tell anyone else he was talking to where he got it.

Wire: I adore him, but honestly he's a bit of a mess and he just doesn't care much about stuff. He hoards practical necessities and forgets to have fun, much less collect cool stuff. If he was feeing absentminded, he would probably set it down somewhere and never find it again. If he was a little more together, he would probably give it to his little sibling Pixel to stim with.

🪤 What is one thing that could be used to lure your OC into a trap?

Void: If you looked at Void's programming, you would be led to believe that it could not be lured into a trap at all. But, although programming must be followed, it can manifest in unexpected ways. If there were an actual trap placed by a villain, they could use Void's friend Peppermint, who it is very close to. If this were a more lighthearted trap, a large database of obscure trivia would tempt it every time.

Tril: A serious answer is anyone in her large family, especially her older sister Ly'ore, who she literally followed into space. But that's no fun. A better answer would be the teddy bear she still secretly sleeps with in her 30's, or maybe some especially good sour candy.

when i was in second grade, my oldest brother told me i couldn’t microwave marshmallows for s’mores because they’d explode all over and make a mess. my solution was to wrap it in foil, to keep it contained. whole thing started sparking and there was a wee bit of a fire :’) was not allowed to use the microwave for quite a while after that, lol.

my favorite outfit is a giant ass crewneck sweatshirt i found at a thrift shop. it’s from a radiology department in some hospital that isn’t even nearby. it’s grey with a skull and crossbones; on the back it says RAD TO THE BONE. shit fits like a dress, is ridiculous, and so so cozy.

otherwise, i’m a black jeans, obnoxious statement button-up/cardigan/coat, and creepers ass bitch. can’t forget the weird jewelry that your divorced, middle school art teacher might wear.

Dan × Nate

I honestly believe they are my second favorite ship in the gg-verse. They really are just a bundle of adorability, safety, gay, and connection. I love them in any genre (angst, fluff, smut, hurt/comfort), and there was so much subtext between the two of them that it is difficult not to go 👀.

The reason I think that they are better in fanon than canon is because we writers aren't afraid to go past "close friends". @mrs-nate-humphrey really is an icon to me because I honestly don't believe that I would be as invested in them without Ivy's fics.

Serenessa

I am postive-neutral towards serenessa. While I don't have strong opinions on them, I do really like the idea of them. Like with date, they are better in fanon because writers are able to actually explore their dynamic. I also love them both, so I am all for them having a romance.

Nate × Blair

I ADORE platonic Nate × Blair, but I don't care for their romantic relationship. I think Chase and Leighton have wonderful chemistry, but as characters, I think Blair and Nate being together romantically would have been a horrible ending for them. They would have been fulfilling a story that neither truly wanted. I believe that their closure in s2 was well done, and I will forever stand on the hill that they should not have ended up together.

That said, I really do love their platonic relationship, and I wish that the show would've had them having therapy sessions over coffee together more.

Van der Baizen

I am a serenate fan, but I do have a soft spot for van der baizen. I think they share a lot of traits, and it has created a sort of understanding that they don't share with anyone else. Dan and Serena shared traits as well (compassion, warmth, idealism), but Serena wasn't the kind to settle down (and the fact that she did will always make me fume). She and Dan couldn't agree on values of their futures. However, Serena and Carter do have similar values. They are free-spirits, they resent their families to the point that the would rather run away then be with be stuck, (they are hot), and they are able to be their whole selves together.

the thing that gets me about about barbie is that barbie land wasn’t even purposefully a matriarchy, barbie land came about because of the way little girls were playing with their barbies, it wasn’t created by mattel it was created by the people using the toys, so the fact that the barbies ignored the ken’s and had girls night every night wasn’t because they had some bias against him, it was just an accurate depiction of how kids play with barbies. I had some ken dolls as a child and they were essential to the plot in the sense that of course my barbie has a boyfriend because that represented the world i saw around me, but also he didn’t have any purpose in my dream world because i was only interested in what the girls were doing because they represented me and how i wanted to be, I wanted girls night every night I wanted the girls to be president and austronauts and not because of some inherent feminist idea but because I was a girl and I wasn’t thinking about boys, ken was an accessory. this movie wasn’t made to change the world but it showed a different perspective than what we usually see which I thought was fun. Men don’t have to be the centre of all our stories and its not even because we hate them, sometimes we’re just not thinking about them
