ok so this one in my head serves as a precursor to my beeduo fic ‘for better or for worse’ (my magnum opus), basically talking about the history of beeduo’s wedding rings. i also started this one but i don’t think i’ll finish it? but idk maybe i will.

so this fic would be very lighthearted. it starts as beeduo is eloping in church prime in the middle of the night, when ranboo gives tubbo their rings. then there’s like an 80s film “but wait- you’re probably wondering how i got here. let’s go back to the beginning” moment, which goes on to recall all the events that lead up to tubbo and ranboo’s secret wedding, and the significance behind their rings

tubbo’s birthday. everyone in new lmanberg forgets his birthday (including him) except for ranboo, who gifts him the original obsidian bracelet that he wears for the rest of his presidency

doomsday. tubbo goes to ranboo in a panic because the bracelet had fallen off and he assumes it was destroyed. from there, ranboo searches the rubble to find that it wasn’t destroyed, it was just split in half

snowchester. as beeduo grows closer, they joke about getting married. tubbo throws out the idea of obsidian rings due to their unbreakable nature (which is lighthearted, but has darker undertones) but also because of how unique it is, because the trend in the overworld is golden rings. this is where they get the phrase “for better or for worse” which is what’s on their rings

arctic anarchist commune. ranboo begins to craft/shape the rings, and then engraves them. insert a comedy bit where ranboo has to keep the whole “Marrying The Government” thing a secret from techno. it’s also then that ranboo brings up the idea of marrying tubbo to tommy, basically asking for his blessing. ranboo promises that he’ll never go through it if he doesn’t get tommy’s approval (alliumduo stans come get your juice)

snowchester again. HERE is where ranboo first brings up the idea of actually getting married. he says it as a joke in case tubbo doesn’t feel the same, but tubbo is definitely on board. (cue a TEENSY bit of angst, something something tubbo could never be certain anything lasts, blah blah these rings did, sappy sappy it’s bittersweet)

back to the beginning; our cheesy 80s rewind is concluded. tubbo is regifted the matching rings and he is fucking THRILLED. they get married (officially? maybe? maybe not? it’s debatable but tommy declares it official in the name of prime so… it’s official. i think.) and then go home and fall asleep with michael on the couch.

that’s the fic!!!! maybe i’ll write it out. screenshots of the beginning under the cut
