luma turned around and began heading for mondstadt. along the way, they thought back to the recent events — dinner with hu tao, zhongli, venti, chongyun, xingqiu, xiangling, and xiao.

it was a delight to see him again. not that they'd ever admit it to the public, they actually missed him. they smiled to themselves, looking at the ground as they walked.

they were so deep in their thoughts that they didn't hear the noises of hilichurls nearby. it was only until they smelled fire was when they looked up, seeing a hilichurl charge at them with a wooden club on fire.

dodging quickly, they instinctively pulled out their two katanas and sliced them at a quick speed. hearing more approach them, they defeated the hilichurl before paying attention to defeating the rest.

luma placed their foot on the mitachurl's shield wall, bouncing off of it. they flipped to the side, slicing the back of it. it groaned in pain before dropping to the ground.

they sped towards the other hilichurls and sliced their katanas rapidly. so focused on the hilichurls in front of them, they didn't notice the cryo samachurl send icicle spikes in their direction.

they groaned in annoyance, feeling the ice pierce through their arms. turning around, they charged towards the samachurl and harshly swiped their katana through it, killing it instantly.

they turned around to see more and more approaching them. "xiao was right, there are a lot of them," they breathed out, not realizing they called upon him.

seeing the group of hilichurls, xiao took them out quickly, making luma quickly back away in shock. he took a few deep breaths before speaking to luma.

"are you crazy? what are you doing out here at night, especially during the lantern rite?" "i'm heading back to mondstadt. it's not like i need your protection!" they complained, irritated that he thought they couldn't fight for themselves.

his anger quickly faded when he saw the scrapes on their arms. "come on, i'll help you tend to your wounds." luma's eyes widened in confusion, looking at the blood dripping from the scars.

they complied, following him back to wangshu inn. there was complete silence between the two, making the tension even worse.

when they finally reached the inn, luma greeted verr goldet before heading upstairs with xiao. he took them to his room and told them to wait on the couch.

they waited patiently before he returned with a cloth and some medicine.

"you don't have to do this, you know? i'm fine," they said, almost in a whisper. he looked up at them for a second before returning to their arm. "you're going to get yourself hurt one day if you keep going at a rate like this. you need to take care of yourself better," he replied, pulling the cloth away as he heard them hiss in pain when it made contact with their scar.

slowly, he began wiping the blood away before applying medicine over the scars.

"stay here for the night. in the morning, you can return back to mondstadt," he told them, heading over to the cabinet to put the cloth and medicine away.

Do you think Xiao can exorcise ghosts or spirits?

TLDR: Yes but not in the way you might expect.

In chinese mythology (at least the ones I grew up with*), there's virtually no difference between ghosts and spirits. We view spirits as neither inherently evil nor inherently good. It's what they do that eventually defines their nature (karma).

'Spirits' are an umbrella term for: - Souls of the deceased (which can sometimes be an emotional imprint they leave behind ie: a shade) - A consciousness that is formed into existence who can eventually accumulate enough spiritual energy and ascend into divinity, becoming a deity (or an adeptus in this case) after eons of cultivation - A malevolent energy that preys off the living (a demon)

Case in point: the Heliobi in Star Rail and Adepti + Sovereigns in Genshin

Now let's examine Xiao:

With reference to Indian and Southeast-Asian mythology, Yakshas are often portrayed as malevolent demons OR tutelary deities closely connected to nature and the mountains.

From what we know of in Genshin, the Yakshas are illuminated beasts who fought in the war and succumbed eventually to their own karmic debt, with Xiao being the last of them. We have also learned that the remains of fallen Gods and their 'grudge' cannot be purged completely even after their deaths.

That led me to the conclusion that the karmic debt accumulated by the Yakshas are the residual malevolent energy of those departed. With each god they cut down, the weight of their sins grow heavier and in turn, transforms them into something completely twisted from how they once were.

As a being capable of devouring dreams, Xiao has long since been accumulating sins before he was liberated. To this day, part of the reason as to why he hasn't given in to his karmic debt was fear of what would happen if he did and a conviction/desire to protect regardless of how much it hurts him.

Given these traits in mind, I believe that he can't exorcise spirits the way Chongyun and the other exorcists can via subduing their malevolent energy, though he can seal them away like they do.

What he can do is what he did best.

He eats them.

Specifically their malevolent energy and that becomes his own. It becomes a part of his debt, poisoning him further, thus making him fear losing control even more.

Xiao embodies the Yaksha in every sense of the word. Demon or Conqueror? Both. He's both.

vision criteria

a lot of fans hate the concept of criteria for visions but i do believe there is one, just.. not as part of the world building? like i dont know if i’d go as far as to say whatever entity or mechanism in charge of granting visions has a criteria of its own, but there seems to be a common narrative between he characters of each respective element.

a doylist criteria, if u will.

so far i've looked into cryo, anemo and pyro (i did make posts back in the day but they're now privated until i can word all of it better)

anemo

acceptance of circumstances out of one's control

people often joke about anemo characters' shared trait being the death of a friend, even though heizou is the only one whose loss of a loved one was involved in gaining his vision.

kazuha had already gained his when his friend defied the musou no hitotachi, faruzan gained hers before she realized she had been trapped for a century and everyone she knew was dead, and tatarasuna people were long gone when wandered gained his. moreover, we don't know when xiao got his, and characters like jean, sucrose and sayu do not feature any death in their lore.

the narrative is present, however, especially through the archon himself who wears the face of the nameless bard in order to honor his memory.

the death of a loved one seems just a very direct way of approaching the theme of acceptance of something that's out of one's control. anemo characters struggle with this throughout their lives, and gain a vision when they're able to overcome it.

the ruin of the kaedehara clan was out of kazuha's control, for instance, and he gained his vision when he decided to focus on the positive aspects of life rather than his misfortunes.

jean had to fulfill the duty of her clan since she was young, depriving herself of experiences that are normal for other children, and she gains her vision when she apprehends the corrupt members of the knights of favonius and proves to herself that these sacrifices are worth it.

sayu gains hers when she decides to turn her small size to her advantage; wanderer (anemo poster child tbh) gains his when he accepts the memories of his "past incarnation" as his own; heizou gains his when he accepts evil is part of human nature and makes it personal; sucrose gains hers when her interest for alchemical experiments starts overshadowing her original goal to recreate a childhood fantasy she shared with friends she lost contact with.

cryo

acceptance of the self

the most distinctive trait of cryo characters is inner duality, theres a part of themselves they struggle with and they only gain their vision when they accept themselves wholly. sometimes this is approached more directly with life or death situations in which the character has to save themselves, and therefore find enough worth as they are.

everyone knows what's up with kaeya's backstory. it's not just telling the truth about who he is that grants him a vision, because it appears later when he's fighting against diluc. he gains it when he blocks an attack, protecting himself and no longer being ashamed (or at least at this crucial moment)

rosaria was taken in by a gang of criminals who massacred her village when she was a baby. she struggles to define the place she had within this group, unsure if she should call them fathers or not. she gains her vision when she tries to escape, and one of them challenges her to a fight to death that she wins

qiqi is a zombie who gains hers when she wishes to stay alive in the midst of dying

shenhe is cursed since childbirth, her duality is more about who she wants to be despite her fate. she gains her vision while fighting an evil spirit/god that her father tried to sacrifice her to

ganyu is half adepti half human, and unlike yanfei she struggles to belong on either side. she gains a vision when she decides to stay in liyue to help the qixing, effectively picking a side although she doesnt realize it

chongyun was born with yang energy which prevents him from performing exorcisms. he gains his vision because he decides he'll still achieve this goal with this condition, not in spite of it

eula gains her vision when she decides to follow her own principles, regardless of what her clan and mondstadt want to impose on her

ayaka is limited by her duty and social class against her fantasies of a regular or adventurous life. gains her vision when she proves to herself she's worthy of her position

layla is a very insecure person, especially regarding her academic skills. theres the whole DID as well. she gains her vision at some point while she argues with a professor, effectively being confident in her ideas.

i havent checked mika's bc sincerely zZz

diona's the only one who doesnt fit in this narrative. she's a very lonely kid who only has her dad as company, but he gives more attention to alcohol than her. she gains her vision when she goes out during a snow storm to look for him, admitting her uncondtional love with that action.

pyro

im not sure how to word this yet.

the common pattern seems to be about carrying a legacy, more directly addressed through family businesses but there's other characters with more abstract ones:

diluc & his father's winery

hu tao & her family's funerary tradition

amber & her grandfather's outrider force

bennet & his dads' wish for success in adventuring

klee & alice's teachings

xianling & liyue's cuisine/her father's restaurant

xinyan & the essence of rock music

yanfei & the integrity of law

yoimiya & her family's fireworks business

dehya & her father's will (although she misunderstands what that is until her story quest)

inheriting something has not much to do with it, it's the way this element forms part of their characterization and how it's involved in gaining a vision. just because a character has a family business it doesnt mean they fit the criteria.

for example:

bennett's was a bit burdened by the lack of success of his dads, he thought he had to achieve something to give meaning to their lives, but gains his vision when he realizes that success is not needed and the experiences in and of itself are what makes an adventurer.

diluc followed the ambitions of his father, and believed them to be their own. he never questioned his choices, as long as they made his father happy. when he's faced with his death, the fact he owned a delusion, and the corruption in the knights his whole sense of self shatters and when he leaves mondstadt, he also leaves his vision (which he called his and his father's shared ambition) behind. then he returns to do exactly what he was doing before (protecting mond), but this time it's under his own terms: no longer under the knights of favonius (the frustrated dream of his father)

it feels as though pyro characters gain their visions when they realize themselves, who they are and what they want regardless of what has been imposed on them. they might follow this legacy like diluc or hu tao, or they might search for their own path like bennett and dehya.

perhaps xinyan is more the poster child, someone who protects who she is despite the constant pushback from society, something that she fights to change.

some accept their legacies as their genuine path and others rebel against it, and then others rebel against it and still accept it in their own terms. how to put it?

perhaps it's the realization of individuality?

the legacy is not important, as it is with the narrative of dead loved ones or duality in the other elements, it feels more like a trial to find the character's individuality.

hydro

i still struggle with the other elements, mainly because i have yet to go through each character profile to analyze them cohesively.

it's hard to find the right common pattern.

they have a high status in their respective fields:

barbara is a church idol in the nation of poetry and ballads with high devotion to their god

candace is the village's appointed guardian

ayato is the clan/commission's leader

mona is a renowned astrologist

nilou is the star of the theater

kokomi is watatsumi's high priestess

childe is a harbinger

xingqiu is the best diciple of guhua

yelan is yelan

some of them are innovators/change tradition:

barbara changed the music scene in mond, from traditional folk music to her idol stuff ig

candace went against the elders in the village so they could start making business with outsiders, since she wants aaru village to flourish beyond the burden of their past

yelan stood up to ningguang in how things were done

yet others are catalysts for preservation:

ayato upholds his clan and remains loyal to the raiden shogun not out of genuine conviction, but for filial piety (to honor his parents and protect his sister)

mona protects the integrity of her art to her own detriment

likewise, nilou doesnt have greater ambitions in regards to her dancing skills

xingqiu revived the arts of the guhua clan

kokomi could fit in both, since she carries the will of orobashi, and rather than following personal ideals in how to rule her people, she wants to follow their collective wishes. but then she's also working hard in erasing the generational trauma/resentment they have against the shogunate.

childe is. childe is a special case. he wanted to become the hero of the stories his father told him, and to this end he's made it his own conviction to protect children's dreams. thats the element of preservation, but i dont know how he gained his vision so i cant say how significant this narrative was in the process.

in a way, characters who have innovated are also conducts for preservation through that innovation (preserving music, preserving the village's future, preserving the lives of those who work in the shadows of the qixing)

perhaps like legacy is a trial for pyro characters, this aspect of preservation/innovation is also a trial for hydro ones, but as to what's the underlying narrative.. i cant tell. yet.

electro

i think some of them share the pattern of being tools for a higher purpose, especially ei, cyno and sara. they're not tools like scaramouche was, because thats something he pretty much was created as and had no control over, but this is rather a deliberate choice they make. they chose this for themselves completely out of their own free will.

theres characters like fischl who directly embody something else, her identity is put aside much like the tool characters do for their conviction.

there's a bit of sacrifice involved in doing this i guess?

that's about it, as far as i can go without analyzing the character profiles further.

Has anyone considered what it would be like if Xingqiu had a villain arc?

[EDIT: If you do not like death, scary things, villain/corruption arcs etc. DO NOT READ THIS like I did not intend for this alternate universe to end up this way but it did so umm yeah sorry about that]

So I was thinking about Christina Vee's cover of Wolf In Sheep's Clothing and thought, "wait what if that was Xingqiu" (Christina Vee is Xingqiu's EN voice actor)

Like, maybe Traveler and co. went into the Abyss, something went wrong, Xingqiu was left behind, and everybody thought that he was dead.

Of course, everyone was devastated. But the Abyss is too powerful for them to be able to do anything to save him, so the only thing they could do is continue on with their journey and defeat the big bad, for Xingqiu, and for all of the other people that had been negatively impacted by said big bad (whether it's the Tsaritsa, Celestia, the Abyss, or something else, you decide). They beat the big bad and restore peace to Teyvat, and everybody begins rebuilding after the climax of the story.

Then time skip to years later, after the main story of Genshin, a mysterious new vigilante-like character appears in Liyue. Dangerous criminals are found dead in deserted alleys in the middle of the night, with reported sightings of a shadowy figure going to/exiting the crime scene (because come on, someone was murdered. Even if said someone is a dangerous criminal, it's still murder) moments before/after the supposed time of the crime. Not just dangerous criminals either; robbers, treasure hoarders, bandits, and other similar groups are attacked as well, by the same shadow.

At first, there were some mixed opinions about this new person; some people think that they are a hero trying to keep the people of Liyue safe, but others are suspicious and think that there's something fishy about all of this.

Then things start to escalate. The murders become more and more frequent, and people begin to get targeted for even the smallest of crimes. The Qixing had been secretly investigating this mysterious vigilante previously, but the new turn of events forced them to take more drastic measures: curfews are set, Millieth patrols increased, and a special task force, led by Lady Yelan herself, was assigned to track down and potentially deal with this new threat to Liyue.

But no matter what the Qixing tried, they couldn't stop the mystery person. They evaded and overpowered everything the Qixing threw at them, and are strong enough to defeat even Vision holders with ease. Witnesses and survivors report that the figure fights with no mercy; and yet they possess an unsettling, otherworldly element of grace and elegance.

Panic and fear are at an all-time high, nearly on par with the effect of the crazy series of events that occurred during the Traveler's time in Liyue. Whispers on the streets told of a vengeful swordsman coming back from the dead, having lost their humanity, returning only to subject the world to their own twisted sense of justice.

Coincidentally, this is when Chongyun decides to visit Liyue Harbor for a little bit and take a break from his training with either Shenhe or Xiao in the mountains (I've seen this in some age-up AUs and I really like it, so it's here now. Also, I feel like the supposed death of his best friend would have impacted him quite heavily, so he might have retreated into the mountains to make himself stronger so that he can better protect the people that he cares about. Maybe we could have some interesting parallels to the Xingqiu Abyss "death" scene as well, maybe Chongyun lost control of his Yang energy or something, and now he's doing everything in his power to make sure that he won't fail anyone else like how he failed Xingqiu. So much angst potential.) (Also it's up to y'all if you want to see this as platonic or romantic, personally I like the idea of platonic soulmates quite a lot, mostly because I'm not the biggest fan of romance haha. But if people want to read this as a romantic story that's fine too :D At the end of the day, we're just all people who enjoy Genshin Impact, and I think that's pretty cool :D). Anyways, Chongyun gets the entire situation explained to him by his friends, and Chongyun being Chongyun, he of course decides to help out (despite everybody telling him repeatedly just how dangerous this mystery person is). In the end, though, they couldn't convince Chongyun to stay put, so they join in to hopefully have a better chance of surviving their investigation. I think some of his friends (Hu Tao especially – she's actually a lot more emotionally mature than what she lets on, and I feel like she would've gotten some experience in how people deal with grief due to her job as a funeral parlor director) might have figured out that he's getting Xingqiu flashbacks from all this, not only because of Xingqiu's whole chivalry and justice thing, but also because of the remaining survivor's guilt and other angst that could have come from Xingqiu's supposed death.

The group gets in contact with the Qixing, and since they already know some members (like Ningguang, Keqing, Yelan, and Ganyu) from their adventures with the Traveler, plus the fact that they are all Vision users and therefore have a higher chance of surviving an encounter (I'm imagining Chongyun, Xiangling, Hu Tao, perhaps Xinyan and Yun Jin, or even Yanfei. Normally I would include Xingqiu as well, but...well...yeah.), the Qixing allows them to assist the special task force in charge of investigating the mystery person – but not without warning the group repeatedly about the dangerous nature of the assignment, to which Chongyun replies by saying that they know what they're getting themselves into, and that they want to help protect Liyue.

Que a bunch of investigation scenes where they try to track down the mystery person with the other Qixing officers. Strangely, after they narrowly escaped a run-in with the shadowy figure, the number of new murder cases dropped significantly. Instead, their opponent started leaving messages at the scene of the crime, containing threats, taunts, and riddles, all elegantly worded in a way that is... very familiar.

(The messages were also almost illegible to the average person. The Millieth had thought the messages were some sort of special cipher at first, but the friend group, having experienced Xingqiu's dreadful handwriting on multiple occasions, managed to decode it.)

What's more, the messages seem to be targeting Chongyun and his friends in particular.

It is never a good sign when such a powerful foe takes notice of you.

Despite the many dangers, they press on, and eventually, the messages led them to an old, run-down warehouse.

It had once belonged to the Feiyun Commerce Guild, but was abandoned after repeated reports of spirit sightings and strange happenings around that one specific warehouse, a few months before the mystery person arrived in Liyue Harbor.

It didn't help that the warehouse was originally used to store special strands of silk flowers, as well as the various other silks produced by the Guild. After Xingqiu's death, another member of the Guild had been assigned to oversee the silk trade... but it had never been the same since.

All this time, the squad had been slowly connecting the dots between the many clues left behind by the mystery person. A swordsperson, with enough skill and power to best Vision holders, enacting their own view of justice upon wrongdoers? The gracefully composed messages, written in barely decipherable script, and now the warehouse?

This can't be purely coincidental; their opponent had carefully laid out a web of connections that only a few select people can understand.

There is only one person that could be behind all of this.

...But even if he is alive after all these years, why would he do this?

Cut to the group arriving in the warehouse. They knew very well that they are very likely walking directly into a trap, but this investigation has become about more than just protecting Liyue from a new threat; there are now personal stakes involved.

Of course, they were ambushed. Pieces of the roof fell in at random intervals, support beams collapsed of their own accord, and the air was filled with dust and smoke. All that stuff.

Chongyun was separated from the rest of the group and was trying to find his way back to them when a familiar voice rang out from behind him.

This is where the Wolf In Sheep's Clothing cover comes in; I just imagine Xingqiu singing that angrily while Chongyun just freaks out over what the heck happened to his best friend, because not only is he alive and very much not dead, also went on a deadly rampage throughout Liyue just murdering people???

So the story from Xingqiu's side goes like this:

Back when he followed the Traveler and co. into the Abyss and they thought he was dead, NOPE he's actually still alive, trying his best to survive and hoping that someone would come looking for him. But they never came.

The Abyss has a way of changing people, twisting their minds and turning them into something much more dangerous. And to Xingqiu, it appeared as if his friends had abandoned him, left him to fend for himself in the dark, unyielding Abyss. It corrupted his sense of justice, and despite his best efforts to stay true to his past ideals of chivalry and valor, not even the strongest of mortals can resist the power of the Abyss.

When he finally emerged from the depths, he returned to a world that had moved on without him, forgotten him even. Wiped him away like an insignificant speck of dust.

He slipped back into Liyue Harbor in the dead of night, and scared away the workers in the warehouse. At this point, I'm not sure if he's even human anymore. Childe was in the Abyss for 3 Abyss months and look at him. He's Childe. Need I say more? And in this alternate universe Xingqiu was in there for like at least a year? Or more?

Anyways, Wolf In Sheep's Clothing is just Xingqiu being angry and stuff at Chongyun (who was actually there when Xingqiu was separated from the others in the Abyss, so Xingqiu's like extra angry at him and probably the Traveler too). As of now I can see two ways this could end: one is that Evil Xingqiu gets "Magic of Friendship"ed and gets a redemption arc, and the other ending is while Evil Xingqiu and Chongyun fight, Chongyun is eventually forced to come to the realization that the person that he is fighting is no longer Xingqiu, and that his best friend isn't coming back. So in this ending he defeats Evil Xingqiu (maybe using his Pure Yang thing or a cool exorcism trick he learned from Xiao/Shenhe), and maybe he exorcises the Abyss energy out of the ghost or something, and the spirit passes on in peace (perhaps helped along by Hu Tao).

I just realized that a lot of this is like REALLY out of character (even for Abyss-ed people), and honestly, this turned out to be WAY darker than I originally imagined. Like, the original plan is just "Xingqiu gets Abyssed and now he is angry and decides to become evil batman and Chongyun is confused" and we ended up with this. How has this post gone so far off the track. Like, what.

IDK I still spent like 2 hours writing this tho so I'm still gonna share it

My opinion on every playable Genshin Impact character in a few seconds. [3.1]

The same thing I did a fair while ago with Danganronpa characters, but now for another franchise that I have an unhealthy obsession with. All characters in alphabetical order by first name.

This goes up to version 3.1. The most recently added characters are Cyno, Nilou and Candace.

Thought he was kind of basic at first, and despite his enigmatic writing, didn’t really stand out. As of 2.3 and the event he was featured in, he’s gone up a little. My favourite part about him is his voice actor.

I think she hardly even counts as a Genshin character. I’d probably like her a bit more if I played her original game, but she has basically no character or personality to speak of in Genshin Impact.

She isn’t especially good compared to every other character in the game, but she’s a good introduction to the characters overall. Her personality is fun, and I’m glad she has a small following of her own.

His voice work in every language is fantastic, and the character itself is always a good time. Not only does he have a great personality, funny traits and entertaining moments, he’s a beast in battle and is super fun to use.

She’s a contender for being my least favourite character among the roster, primarily because I don’t like her playstyle and it causes me mental damage. However, I have nothing against the character herself, although there are many who have similar personalities that outshine her.

I don’t play her often any more, because I have more viable physical and Electro units, but she used to be part of my main team, and even now, she’s still a personal favourite of mine among the roster. She’s just an all-around cool as all hell character.

A precious boy. I’m not as crazy about him as most of the fanbase is, but he’s still a wonderful, energy bean who needs to be protected. Still, I can’t say much about him other than that.

I like her design a lot, and her playstyle seems super neat, but since 3.1 has yet to drop, I can’t say much about her character. She’s a definite pull though.

I kinda just...don’t care that much about him. He is one of the first units I used when I started playing, and he is among my favourite Element, being Cryo, but I didn’t get Chongyun’s playstyle back in the day, so I quickly grew sick of using him. His character and personality isn’t bad, but he’s not a character that I’m always excited to see. I also think that his Hangout Event is the weakest of the bunch.

I like her a lot. A WHOLE lot. I will admit however, that she would be a lot better in game if she retained some of her grouchy, tsundere and spiteful personality traits that she showed in the manga. There is an in-universe explanation as to why she changed so much, so I can’t complain, and despite that, she’s still a cool, fun and loveable character, who’s a great introduction to the Dendro element and really fun to play.

If I can be honest, Cyno actually kinda scares me from what we’ve seen of him so far. I have no clue whether he’ll be an ally in the end, or a threat to the traveler. If he’s our friend, then we’ve got ourselves one hell of an ally. If he’s our enemy, then God help us.

I don’t think he’s ever gonna lose his charm, despite how much powercreep he’s been put through. He’s still a cool figure, and is still fun to play. He’s one of the few characters from the original update who to this day is still viable. Can’t go wrong with fantasy batman.

I used to hate her, but it was primarily out of spite, since she was the first character I ever C6′d, and through an unfortunate circumstance (basically, got C6 from grinding Xiao banner). I do understand her charm though, even if she’s not a character I particularly feel like using ever.

Her playstyle ain’t the shit, but her character and voice work totally is. She’s easily one of the most entertaining characters in the main story, even though she’s only on screen for a brief time.

She’s pretty cool and I like her a lot. She doesn’t have much screen time outside of the 2.3 event and her own storyline, but I really want to see more of her. She’s pretty fun to play too.

I don’t like her as much as I thought I would, but I don’t dislike her by any means. However, I feel like her character progression over what’s shown in the events isn’t a strong, nor is it portrayed as well as it should be. She did used to be one of my better Electro units though, so maybe I’ll come back to her one day. Her alt skin is fire too.

It’s an indisputable fact that Ganyu is a DPS queen and a very popular waifu for this game, however, I for one don’t see the appeal of her character. If she was present more in the story, or had any event storylines that revolved around her and explored her character, maybe I’d like her more, but regrettably, what’s been shown of her so far portrays her as a bit one-dimensional.

I’ve built Gorou fully, but to be honest, I’m not, and never have been crazy about him. He’s very situational. On a team where his abilities work, he’s insanely useful, but in literally every other scenario, he’s almost completely useless. In addition, his character’s not particularly notable either. He’s not unlikeable, but he doesn’t seem to have any outlying and important traits. However, with that said, a few of his hangout event endings showed his very sympathetic and human side, which I enjoyed a lot.

I jokingly always talk about how I hate this character, but I don’t. I do however, think she’s a bit annoying, and she’s not a character that I care about much, outside of the charming voice work, and the damage potential.

She’s cool, and a fun mom-figure, even if she’s a little one-note. Her character quest was sweet and fun, and she’s a pretty good unit in battle too. Other than that, I don’t have much to say about her. One thing that does knock her down a peg though is that whenever I lose the 50/50, it’s usually to Jean.

He served as such a great introduction to Inazuma, and to this day, is among the game’s best characters. Not only is he an interesting, well voiced, loveable and sympathetic character, he’s to this day, one of the most useful units in the game due to his swirl abilities. I always look forward to seeing more of Kazuha all the time.

The most interesting character among the starter units, and still has decent use even later, with his ice bridging abilities. His attack animations are cool too, and I really want to try and build him so I can use him in battles. I plan on taking him to fight Dottore with Amber, Collei and Diluc.

The absolute best girl of all best girls. Initially, I planned on skipping for her so I could pull for Yoimiya, but then 2.0 happened, and we got to meet and hang out with her. I fell in love with this girl almost immediately. She’s a solid battler, she has a great personality, her interactions with the Traveler are so god damn adorable, and I always love to see her appear anywhere in the game, because it always makes me smile.

I can’t claim to like him as much as I like his sister, but there’s a lot about him that I do enjoy. His character quest was cool, his playstyle is fun, strong and easy to use, his personality is interesting and unique among the cast, and his voice work is soothing to the ears. A lot of good can be found in this enigmatic character.

I didn’t like Keqing much at all when she was first introduced, but that was primarily because she only had a few scenes in the archon quest, and said scenes didn’t portray her as especially friendly or easy to get along with. That has since been reprimanded with Moonchase and Lanturn Rite, and while I still think Lanturn Rite should’ve put more focus on Ganyu than Keqing, it still provided Keqing with some fantastic character moments and really solidified her as a solid character amongst all others. She’s also really fun to play, even if she’s not particularly viable compared to someone like Raiden.

She’s adorable, and is one of the cutest characters in the game, but she honestly kinda sucks in battle. Her kit isn’t fleshed out, even if her damage is pretty great. There’s also a limit to how much she can be explored as a character, on account of being a young child with not much life experience.

The more Sara appears in storylines and events, the better she becomes. Her first scene portrays her as a commanding, threatening and powerful presence, but hinted at her good morals and righteous nature. Her latest scene shows her human side, and how she’s a huge otaku for the Raiden Shogun, which was super funny and super adorable. She’s not the most viable unit, but she’s still a fantastic character.

Shinobu’s design was like a slap to the face when I first saw it. She was not at all what I expected, but I was so so entranced the moment I saw her. She’s in my top 3 designs among the whole roster of characters. While her playstyle unfortunately isn’t the strongest, she’s still a fun character to play and watch. It’s also fun to see how her personality reflects off Itto’s.

Of the beginning characters, at least currently, Lisa is my least favourite, but only because I think she comes across too strong with her flirtation, and because outside of that, she’s not a character who is explored very much. There is potential for there to be more info on her, given the more we learn of Sumeru’s Academia, and how she used to study there, but in the meantime, Lisa is the exact neutral point in this lineup. I don’t like her, but I don’t dislike her either.

Up until recently, I wasn’t fond of Mona at all. She was kind of snooty, overconfident and always seemed to be looking down on everyone around her, and her character just kind of annoyed me. 2.8 changed my thinking completely, mainly because it showed her doubts about her powers of fortune telling, how she’s depressed over how she can predict the future but not change it, and how she’s not actually poor at all, which resulted in a very funny interaction between her and Fischl. She’s definitely a good one now.

So far, she hasn’t really brought anything new to the table, but I still like her very much. Her design is adorable; so is her personality, and her fighting style looks unique from what we’ve seen of it. I’m definitely gonna try for her.

She’s ok. I remember really being put off by Ningguang because I didn’t understand her playstyle initially, but I enjoyed her hangout event, and she did show to have some cool and interesting moments throughout the story, as Liyue’s de facto leader.

Despite the fact that Noelle has 2 Hangouts, she’s not a character I care much about. She’s definitely cute and sweet, and I definitely like her, but she’s not someone I give much thought when I look at the total lineup of characters.

I get it. I get that there’s the Qurse of Qiqi, and I get that Qiqi is kind of a pointless 5-star, since Barbara can do everything that she can, but even so, I like Qiqi. She’s a silly little character, with a very sad and sympathetic backstory, and I can’t hate her, even if she does steal my pity.

If I must confess something, when I first played 2.1 and got to know her, I REALLY didn’t like Ei much at all. I felt like the character exploration and progression she had in earlier updates wasn’t that great, and I think her first character quest was one of the worst in the game. She was only saved initially by her prowess and usefulness on any team you put her in. However, she was massively saved by the second chapter of her quest, which was phenomenal, and one of the best quests in Genshin’s 2 year history. At this point, Ei is still my least favourite of the archons behind Venti and Zhongli, but due to how Nahida’s story isn’t finished yet, it remains to be seen if she will keep that bottom spot. However, I like Ei a lot now, and I will continue to do so for a while.

Razor is a cool character, and actually serves as an inspiration for one of my D&D characters. His playstyle is a bit confusing and hard to build, but it’s nice whenever he pops up as part of a story, and I’m looking forward to seeing new developments to him in 3.1.

It also took me a while to warm up to Rosaria, but due to character progression she got from Windbloom and also her battle prowess and usefulness, I think she’s pretty cool now. Pun not intended.

It is my genuine and strong opinion that Kokomi is the best-designed character in the whole game. And alongside the fantastic and gorgeous design, she has a sweet voice and useful battle abilities. I don’t think Kokomi was very well received at first, but I pulled her, albeit by accident, and have not regretted that for a day. She is great.

I mean...she’s ok I guess? Honestly, I really don’t have much of an opinion on Sayu. Her hangout was really mediocre and she’s not a character I really care about an awful lot. No hate though, I like her voice, and it’s fun to roll around with her.

She first appeared in 2.4 and has not appeared in the game since then, and I am DESPERATE to see more of her. She was such an interesting character, with a cool and interesting and sad backstory, and her personal journey was so great. She’s also a mean support and DPS unit. #BringBackShenhe.

He’s not what I expected he would be, but he turned out to be pretty awesome. He’s super fun to play as in battle, and useful and strong too. Plus, his hangout was unique and provided some interesting moments.

Much like Shenhe and a few others, Sucrose is hardly ever explored. Whenever she makes an appearance, it’s usually alongside Albedo, and he is more often than not the more central character. She is cute, don’t get me wrong, but there’s not much else to her. She is pretty good in battle though.

I can’t say for sure if this is the case anymore, but Childe was my favourite character when I first started playing Genshin. He’s still one of my personal best boys to this day. I know he’s a certified ass, but I like villains with layers to them, and I like how Childe has a sympathetic side and reason behind his misdeeds. He fights for the Fatui purely because he wants to create a world where his family will be safe and protected. I respect that.

I like him a ton. He has the best hangout event in the game and while he’s not an especially viable unit, he’s still one I enjoy having on hand. His personality is charming and easy to get along with, and his dedication is admirable. He also has a unique relationship with Ayato that I can’t help but enjoy.

He turned out to be a lot better than I thought he would be. From the first lines of dialogue he speaks, he’s immediately an entertaining presence, since he’s very blunt, strict and doesn’t make an attempt to hide his annoyances and grievances with other people. I relate to that honestly. His English voice work sells this very well in addition to that.

I think they’re both pretty cool characters, though I like Lumine’s design a tad bit more than Aether’s. They recently went up a notch in my book, primarily because Dendro Traveler is super fun to play for some reason, above all the other elements they can wield.

Even if he is a mischievous little squirt, it’s hard to dislike him. His voice work is great, his abilities are super fun and powerful, and he’s all around just a very solid character. Of every archon in the game, he’s also the one I think embodies his theme; being Freedom, the best.

She was one of the first characters in the game that I fell in love with, because I thought her design was cute as a button. She was one of the first characters I finished building, and I think that was a good decision. Moonchase was a fun and enjoyable event primarily because of Xiangling’s presence in it, and even now, she’s still one of the cutest and most fun characters in the game.

He was my first 5-star and still easily one of my favs to this day. He’s fun to play, and has some great character writing and backstory.

I didn’t think much of him when he was first introduced, and even now, I’d hardly say he has my favourite personality, but when I finished his character quest, I was surprised by just how much I enjoyed it. Even now, he’s still one of my favourite support units to use in tough battles. I only wish I’d built him sooner.

Her segment of the 2.8 island quest was my favourite part of the whole thing, and even now, she’s hella underrated. Her design is amazing, and the vibe she gives off is so fun-loving. She’s great.

Easily the best part of the whole Inazuma archon quest. She was such an interesting, entertaining, mysterious and funny character through and through. Even by the time she finally became playable for audiences, her own story quest, while paling in comparison to Ei’s, did not disappoint. The defining example of how and why Inazuma characters are the best of the bunch.

Really, I can’t say much about Yanfei. She’s cute, has a nice design and is a kind presence, but she doesn’t stand out much amongst the greater cast, and honestly has no real reason to. Even in the 2.7 archon quest chapter, it’s the other characters that are needed to make her stand out very much. Her relationship with Shinoby, Eula, Madame Ping and others are sweet to watch, and supposedly, she’s a pretty cool pyro unit, better than Klee anyhow.

First of all, she’s insanely hot, and second of all, I was taken by surprise just by how much I ended up liking her. Initially, I didn’t see much, but when the trailers dropped, they painted her in such a powerful and incredible light, that I eventually succumbed to the tactic and pulled for her. Not something I regret either, since Yelan is also one of the most insanely powerful characters in the game.

The autistic part of me resonates so much with her. If there’s one character in this game I relate to and feel the most kinship with, it’s Yoimiya. Even now, she’s in my top 5, and might even be my favourite. No matter where she appears or what she’s doing, she’s guaranteed to bring some sunshine to my life.

I actually quite like her! She’s not a favourite, but she’s definitely up there. Her voice is nice, her playstyle is cool, and her character overall is solid.

The best of the archons in my opinion. He’s got a great personality, he’s fun to play, is very strong, has a fantastic voice, and just is all around one of the best character’s in the game to this day. I WILL HAVE ORDER!

Synopsis: He meets his future child(ren).

Gorou, Heizou & Cyno ver.

#XIAO

Xiao is doing his usual rounds in Guili Plains, clearing the area of monsters when he comes across two ruin guards surrounding a young girl. As his sense of duty kicks in, he summons his polearm but before he could don his terrifying yaksha mask, he notices an Anemo Vision glinting on her belt.

With wide eyes, he witnesses the child effortlessly take down the ruin guards with her Vision and polearm that looks like a smaller version of his Primordial Jade Spear. He’s completely stunned as the two ruin guards collapse in a heap; there’s no way a mere human child can-

“Bàbà! I finally found you!” she suddenly exclaims, interrupting his train of thoughts. Xiao wouldn’t move from where he’s standing as she runs over to him and hugs his legs. He only registers the name she had called him by a few seconds later and says, “... What? I don’t know you. I’m not your father.”

But the adeptal energy - his adeptal energy - she possesses silences him immediately. Upon closer inspection, the girl oddly resembles a certain woman who would visit him at Wangshu Inn every week. (H/c) hair with teal streaks, amber eyes with vertical-slit pupils... Could she be...?

His suspicions are confirmed when she explains that she got Madame Ping to help her travel to the past, because she was really curious about what life was like in Liyue before Xiao had her with (y/n). He couldn’t believe what he’s hearing from his supposed future daughter. So he will have a family with (y/n)? He, who had slaughtered and soiled the land with blood for centuries, will finally be able to settle down with the human he had grown to love? Tears gather in his eyes as a rare, soft smile appears on his lips.

“... So in the future... I will finally have a sweet dream of my own...?”

#CHONGYUN

Chongyun is on another spirit hunt in Wuwang Hill when he is scared out of his wits by a pair of twins - a boy and a girl - who ambushed him while yelling, “BOO!” After screaming his soul into the tenth dimension, Chongyun quickly calms down and asks the children why they’re in a dangerous place alone and where their parents are.

To say that he’s baffled when the twins point at him and call him their father would be an understatement. He gently tells them that they must have confused him with their father, even though he knows that it’s virtually impossible to mistake him as a married man.

Chongyun is about to offer to escort them to Qingce Village when he notices the twins’ hair colour. It reminds him of the girl he would often see with Xingqiu in the harbour, but what’s bizarre are their ice-blue cat slit eyes which Chongyun has! After putting two and two together, the exorcist realises that they’re...

Oh Archons, he could feel his body temperature increasing. As he searches for his popsicles to cool himself down, the girl extends a familiar blue popsicle towards Chongyun with a smile and says, “Here you go, bàbà! You can have mine.” Wait... Her popsicle? That just further confirms the twins being his future children!

Chongyun is struggling to understand how it’s possible for them to time travel, but with the existence of the Archons, Liyue’s adepti and monsters, nothing should surprise him anymore. The thought of being married to (y/n) and having a family with her in the future makes him incredibly happy, since the exorcist had unknowingly developed a crush on her. His pure heart would nurture those feelings, allowing them to bloom into something far more precious than life itself.

“I better start training even harder from now on so that I can protect my future family!”

#THOMA

Thoma is doing the usual housework around the Kamisato Estate. While he’s busy dusting the corners of Ayato’s room, he hears a series of high-pitched squeals in the hallway and stops in confusion. Since when did the Kamisato Estate house young children?

He pokes his head out of the room just in time to see two little boys zipping by as they wipe the wooden floor that was drenched with cleaning liquid. His jaw goes slack in shock, and as he steps into the hallway to stop them, a young girl barrels into his legs which sends him skidding across the slippery floor.

They all land at the end of the hallway in a mess of tangled limbs. The three children then laugh and shoot him with a multitude of questions. “Why aren’t you with okaa-san? Is she busy in the lab again?” “Otou-san~ Gimme a piggyback ride!” “Otou-san, I want dango milk!” Thoma is confused; why are they calling him otou-san, and who is this okaa-san that they’re talking about?

That’s when he notices their hair and eye colours. The girl has his blond hair and green eyes, whereas the boys look like the carbon copies of (y/n), the current Head of the Onigasaki Clan. His eyes widen when realisation dawns on him. Okaa-san... Could they possibly mean THE Onigasaki (y/n)? A dark blush coats his cheeks at the thought of being her husband in the future.

He’s not as shocked upon learning that his future children had time traveled to meet their parents’ younger selves. Without another moment to waste, he scoops the three children into his arms and sets off for the Onigasaki Estate so that (y/n) can meet them too. The joy of having her as his future wife augmented the love he felt for her when he first laid his eyes upon her younger self on the fateful day he washed up in Inazuma.

“Oh Archons- I wonder if she’s willing to make me a father now?”

⋆ you likely ran into chongyun while hunting down evil spirits for a commission. spoiler alert: you failed the commission due to someone’s overabundance of yang energy.

⋆ after your first meeting, chongyun was quick to fear respect you and your abilities in combat! he greatly admired your strategic thinking and, of course, the way you carried out every plan you had without fail.

⋆ the moment the exorcist fell in love was likely when you saved him from an unusually stealthy mitachurl. or, maybe it was when you assisted him in training with his claymore. no, perhaps it was when you patched him up and helped him get home after he was injured during a commission?

⋆ you know how chongyun is usually very calm and composed due to having to keep his emotions in check? yeah, that goes out the window whenever someone claims your stories of epic battles are fake.

⋆ some random guy at the dock doesn’t believe that you defeated 3 lawachurls? cue chongyun standing on top of a box and passionately reenacting the fight. you had to physically drag him away from the crowd, lest he start a fight with any non-believers. he’s just proud of you, okay?

⋆ overall, 10/10 boyfriend. he’s your biggest fan once he gets over his respectful fear of you.

⋆ the way you first learned of xingqiu was something straight out of a novel, in that, you learned about him because of a novel. one that he wrote based on your most famous adventure, specifically.

⋆ one can imagine your surprise when you heard about a novel featuring liyue’s “strongest warrior” as the protagonist. it was just a coincidence that they looked and acted like you, right? the similar name was also just a coincidence, surely.

⋆ when you finally met the young author, it was not during a book signing or official guild business. you two met outside of qingce village, when you both happened upon the same treasure hoarder camp. needless to say, that initial conversation was an interesting one.

⋆ with a sequel to his first novel high in demand, xingqiu turns to you, his muse, for inspiration. he listens intently to all of your stories, watches the way you fight and effortlessly copies it down on paper, and somehow creates a version of “you” that is beloved all across teyvat.

⋆ he’ll die before admitting to it, but that paragon in his story isn’t an idealized version of you - it’s simply how you look in his eyes.

⋆ oh, poor xiao. he thought you wouldn’t be as reckless and gallant as the other mortals.

⋆ that’s what he thought, until he saw you suplex a goddamn abyss herald. he found it kinda hot ngl

⋆ now, don’t get him wrong, xiao was well aware of your reputation the first time you met in the hills of minlin. albeit mortal, you were liyue’s finest warrior, second only to the adeptus himself. tales of your victories were sung by ms. yun and stories of your travels were shared all across the nation.

⋆ i’ll skip the arduous process of courting the lovely yaksha. once you two are in a relationship, he’s more than happy to accompany you across liyue, slaying demons and monsters side-by-side. a task that he previously viewed as his penitence was now the very thing that gave him motivation to keep fighting.

⋆ is xiao protective of you? yes! you may be capable of slaying a leviathan, but you’re still human. his powerful, yet fragile, human.

⋆ the first time you protected him was probably when xiao realized that he had fallen in love. the way you turned to him with a cheeky grin as you proudly declared “one for me, two hundred for you!” as if the score ever mattered had his heart melting.

⋆ overall 3/10 sparring partner, purely because he’s scared of hurting you. you, who has walked off a tail whip from a mature geovishap like it was nothing. you, who has also gotten a concussion from falling off the bed. he can never be too careful, you know?

⋆ ah, zhongli. the warrior god who used to dominate the battlefield and make even the divine tremble in fear. his praise is the highest honor of all.

⋆ it’s quite ironic for a retired god to fall in love with a warrior in their prime, don’t you think? that is what zhongli thought, until he accompanied you on a particularly dangerous commission.

⋆ witnessing your strength, marveling at your valor - you, a mortal, somehow rendered the former archon speechless. he’s borne witness to thousands of soldiers before you, and yet, he found himself unable to tear his gaze away from your fighting form.

⋆ in other words, zhongli was attracted to the way you carried yourself in battle. extra points if you’re a geo vision user; watching you so masterfully wield his element would leave him weak in the knees.

⋆ 8/10 actually quite a good sparring partner. he won’t use his full strength against you (for obvious reasons), but zhongli won’t go easy on you all the same. he has 6,000 years of experience and plans to impart as much of it as he can.

⋆ the only tales he enjoys listening to more than his own are yours. every time ms. yun preforms a play based on one of your stories, you’ll find zhongli in the front row. every time one of your stories is told at third round knockout, he’ll be there with a cup of tea in-hand and a pleased smile on his face.

⋆ 1000/10, is always there to patch you up and lightly scold you after a tough battle.

⋆ seeing as baizhu is rather fragile, your immense strength and combat prowess is rather useful when dealing with less savory customers or anyone who dares attack your party while traveling. you fight for him, he cares for you. it’s a wonderful balance that you both can appreciate.

⋆ having a relationship with baizhu means having a relationship with qiqi - whether you’re her second parent figure or just a friend, the little girl greatly enjoys your company. the sight of you two stretching or exercising together isn’t foreign to the people of liyue; she’s practically glued to your side when she’s not working or with baizhu.

⋆ one of the few things qiqi remembers is all the times you’ve “randomly” bumped into her while she’s collecting herbs in a dangerous area. you insist that you “might as well” help her, since you were in the area, anyway.

⋆ what she doesn’t need to know is that baizhu sent you to keep an eye on her. you’re the only person he trusts to protect his precious qiqi.

⋆ you and baizhu don’t often train together due to his condition, but he greatly enjoys watching you work on your technique. he’s a bit of an admirer, even if he won’t admit it. the rare times that you do spar usually end in you having to help him get somewhere more comfortable to rest, or playfully arguing over you letting him win.

Aether

You’re a princess and he’s a prince of another country. Simple childhood friends that were promised to each other at a young age. It was only when you were older that you realized the two of you were to be wedded at a certain age. With that thought in mind, it was hard to interact with him without thinking about the fact that he was going to be your husband. Still, it wasn’t such a bad thing in your mind. After all, Aether had always been a prince who looked after you, and always had your best interests in heart. It takes you a while to realize that there’s something a little strange about Prince Aether and that he’s changed a little. You find out what it is as you stumble upon a room with a huge magic circle in it. You figure out that he’s trying to revive his twin sister, and he needs a human sacrifice. You fit all the required descriptions.

Albedo

A prince, but also a well-known scholar. His people don’t see much of him because he’s always locked up in his library, researching various things. The king and queen have tried time and time again to present various princesses for him to choose from. He refuses every one of them. He thinks they’re all just rich girls from rich families attending their rich dinners. No substance at all. Until you come along. You who told his parents that they didn’t need to arrange a dinner, you’d be the one to look for Prince Albedo in his library. So this book-loving prince was startled when you, a book-loving princess, accompany him in the library, partaking in his research and readings. He let’s his guard down, and the moment he does, his research papers disappear and you’ve disappeared along with them.

Bennett

The young, aspiring knight. He has all the energy a new recruit would have. Sparkly-eyed, determined and strong-willed. He’s actually a baron, but only adopted into the royal family so some people don’t really see him as a real royal. He doesn’t let that get him down though because he doesn’t see himself as much of a royal either. He’d rather be a knight, go on journeys and be given important tasks. You’re the princess that he serves and it’s not a crime to have a little crush on you right? Looking from afar never hurt anyone. It’d be blasphemy for a knight his rank to even think of talking to you.

Chongyun

He started off as an apprentice sorcerer in the palace. Eager to learn and serve. Years later he’s climbed the ranks and has become the High Sorcerer. He’s tasked to accompany you if ever there’s any business outside the country. You always try to ease his nerves by telling him to lighten up, but he takes his work of protecting you seriously. The attraction between the two of you is undeniable, but neither of you act on it because you know your parents would never approve. In a twist of fate, Chongyun ends up saving your life during a dangerous situation. Your parents decide to give him a fair chance to woo you. They arrange a battle royal, open for all sorcerers. Whoever wins may wed you.

Dainsleif

A prince that was already happily engaged to someone else. However, she was lost to an illness. He didn’t care if he was re-arranged to someone else, so that’s what happened and he was arranged to you. It was literally just an arranged marriage. Aside from the wedding day, you never even stayed in the same room as him. It was a miserable first few months for you, the other noblewomen started to whisper and spread rumors that the prince didn’t even love you and treated you like a maid. However, you put a bit more effort in getting to know him, and slowly, he realizes that he’d been treating you unfairly. Just when the two of you start getting closer, another princess shows up, and she looks exactly like Prince Dainsleif’s dead lover.

Diluc

Diluc automatically became the king when his father passed away. He watches over his kingdom quietly and does so diligently, day and night. People get the wrong impression of him as he rarely smiles. Still, he’s held in high regard as he’s at the top of the hierarchy. Before his father passed, one of his last wishes was for him to marry a particular duchess. It was just an agreement made between his father and yours. Diluc wanted to honour it. He, of course, just thinks of it as something that needs to be done. He doesn’t communicate well with others, including you. It’s a rather awkward marriage with a lot of silence, but you play your part as the queen and offer your assistance in any way you can. Pretty soon he starts to see that the support you give is quite valuable and an irreplaceable bond starts to form between the two of you. Imagine his shock when he finds out that your father was involved in the death of his.

Gorou

Grand Commander of the archery unit in the royal infantry. Everyone in that unit answers to him. He stands at the same position as the Grand Commander of the knights. You’re the princess of the kingdom he serves. One day, you mysteriously approach Gorou and ask him to teach you how to use the bow. He’s dumbfounded. “Pardon me for asking, princess, why are you interested in learning how to wield a weapon at all? You have us and the knights under your hands to protect you,”

“To protect me, or my father?” your question doesn’t make sense to him. In his mind he serves both you AND your father. It’s only later on that Gorou understands, when the crimes of your evil father are exposed, a resistance was made against him. Your father orders his royal infantry to kill all resistance members, but you’re at the heart of the resistance. It’s here that Gorou needs to decide if he serves you, or your father.

Itto

Leader of a bandit group. Some people just saw them as hooligans, but they were an organized group, able to execute their plans cleanly. Somehow and some way, you, a baroness, gets kidnapped by Itto. You’re terrified and instantly hate his guts. However, you find out that there’s a reason behind his planned kidnapping. He doesn’t plan to hurt you at all, and his members treat you with respect. All he had wanted was for the nobles to listen to his requests, his village is dying, caving under poverty and lack of resources, and yet none of the nobles have sent any kind of support to even help the village get up on its two feet again. You’re humbled by this encounter and make it a mission to try and help his village get the support it needed. You succeed in passing on Itto’s message, but you’re forbidden to ever see him again.

Kaeya

The carefree prince and brother of King Diluc. Seeing him gallivanting around town was normal and the townspeople loved his sociable energy. The two of you were childhood frenemies, always bickering since you were younger and even through your teenage years. Still, your mothers arranged the two of you into a marriage and you were not happy about it. Kaeya seemed to feel the same. He didn’t act like your husband for months, still going out to masquerades by himself and talking up noblewomen. One day, while he’s at a ball by himself, he gets poisoned. The only antidote is a flower from a neighbouring country which you immediately go to retrieve. The prince of the neighbouring country is evil and powerful. He says that you can take all the flowers you want, but you’ll have to stay in his country with him. You agree and pass off the flowers to the knights, telling them that Prince Kaeya is running out of time and it’s the only way. The knights comply and when Kaeya wakes up, all better, he wonders where you are. The knights proceed to tell him the whole story.

Kazuha

The princess’ personal guard. Not a knight, but someone who has to be quick on his feet and a master of the sword. After all, he’s the first responder if anything were to happen to you. He’s the one person who’s sat through all of your meetings. Went to all of your royal parties. Sits in the carriage with you. As such, you spend a lot of time with him. He’s rather gentle and unassuming. Doesn’t look like he’s deadly with a sword at all. The two of you have a certain attraction going on, but neither of you act on it because you know it would never happen. One day, your engagement is announced. Your parents have taken a liking to a certain prince. Kazuha has no say over it, merely continuing to serve you. Weeks before your wedding you’re taken hostage at a royal gathering. A dark sorcerer claims that he needs your blood, pure and untainted, to finish an ongoing ritual. Your soon to be husband turns tail and runs, not even giving you a second glance in order to save his own life. None other than Kazuha steps up to save you when everyone else had already fled in a panic.

Razor

Born to a poor family and never getting the education he needed, he struggles to communicate with others, but has very good fighting skills and a strong sense of survival. Both his parents died due to poverty and because he doesn’t fit in around town, he builds his own small house in the woods. One day as he’s returning home he finds a young lady passed out and scratched up at the trail leading to his home. Without thinking much of it, he picks you up and takes you home to nurse you back to health. When you wake up all healed you realize he doesn’t talk much and find out that he doesn’t really know how to read or write. He’s kind enough not to shoo you out of his small house so you decide that you’d at least teach him how to talk and read the language to repay him for saving you. A mutual friendship had formed between the two of you and he was thankful that you taught him so many things. You stayed at his for about a week, until one night, his house is surrounded by knights shouting “Give the princess back!”

Scaramouche

Dubbed “The Ruthless Prince”. He gets what he wants, whenever he wants it. Anyone who does him wrong will be executed and people didn’t doubt it because there’d been rumors of him keeping prisoners in the palace’s dungeons. So if he wants to marry a commoner, then he’ll marry a commoner. That’s what happens when he’s out one day on his horse and just spots you at a store. There isn’t really anything special about you, but you catch his eye and he points “That one, I want that one,” as if you’re some kind of toy in a toy shop. You’re whisked away and dressed in proper noble and princess clothing and realize that you’re going to be married to him, no questions asked. Your family will be given however much money they want. Your family doesn’t push you to do it, but your parents were far from rich and worked hard all their lives, you really wanted to at least give them a good life so you agree. It can’t be that bad right?

Tartaglia

The two of you were already engaged, just waiting for the long awaited day to come, a marriage of two countries. Despite it being arranged, prince Tartaglia spent a lot of his time getting to know you and finding out that you are exactly what he wants in a life partner. He cherishes you like no other. However, arguments and disagreements ensued between your father and his, and instead of the wedding going through, a war erupted between his country and yours, tearing the two of you apart. You find ways to exchange letters in secret, and plan to meet up in the woods at a certain date and time. What Tartaglia didn’t know was that his letters were being monitored. His father knew exactly where you were meeting and had already planned to ambush you.

Thoma

A kind and humble prince who treated everyone equally, commoners included. Your father is the royal family’s doctor and when you were of age, you start to accompany him to learn more about how to be one yourself. That’s how Prince Thoma meets you and is also how you get to know him better. Years later you’re engaged to him but life as a commoner turned noble isn’t easy. In any gathering, masquerade, ball or tea party, everyone looks at you as if you’re dirt under their feet. The noblewomen are particularly bad during tea parties, making you the target of their bullying. It proves to be too much, and you return to Thoma expressing that you didn’t want to go on with the wedding. He realizes he hadn’t been mindful enough of your struggles and tries to win you back.

Venti

Prince Venti was already engaged to you. He couldn’t quite say that he loved you, but he enjoyed your presence and was on very friendly terms with you. Other than you, Princess Sarah was a good friend of Prince Venti’s, and frequently visited Prince Venti’s palace. She was quite jealous of you, who seemed to come out of nowhere and gotten between her and Prince Venti.

Prince Venti was known to be a genius in the art of music and one of the palace’s prized possession was the holy lyre, passed on from generations and generations of nobility. One day, it goes missing, and is found to be hidden under your pillow in your bedroom. You have no clue how it ends up there and swear to Venti that you didn’t touch it at all. Nevertheless the evidence was too strong, the engagement was cut and you went from being a princess to a nobody real quick, shunned by royalty, shunned by Venti, and even by your own parents, disgusted by your crime. However, weeks later Venti finds out that Princess Sarah had been the one to take the lyre and put it in your bedroom, framing you for the theft.

Xiao

A prince, but also the grand commander of the knights. Formidable in battle and is always in the front lines of war. He didn’t care much for romance and is always busy with his knightly duties. Even for the announcement of his engagement to you, he was out leading the knights into battle. You see each other during the wedding day, after that, he’s off again. It’s like you’re not married at all, until one day his father forces him out of his knight duties. Xiao begrudgingly spends time with you but also secretly feels sorry that you’re wedded to him. He’s surprised though, because the first time he sits at the breakfast table with you, you were pleasant and didn’t even fault him for being away for so long. Instead you ask questions about him and try to get to know him more. Gradually he opens up to you but is needed in the front lines soon after. He’s reluctant to leave this time, eager to come back to you. Not even three days into his duties, he’s given an urgent request to come back to the palace. You’ve been struck by an unknown disease and it’s eating your life away.

Xingqiu

You’re a new recruit in Prince Xingqiu’s royal army. You were adept in the magic artes and they quickly realize you had the potential to be a high sorcerer. It doesn’t take long for you to get to the rank, possibly a few months, and you’re now tasked with the job of being Prince Xingqiu’s protector wherever he went. The Prince was warm and cordial, and treated you with the utmost respect and admiration. In return, you took your work seriously and watched over him closely. Over time the two of you built a friendship that revolved around trust. Xingqiu wouldn’t have to worry about his back if you were with him.

It’s one particular afternoon that you’re ambushed in the woods, the knights surround Prince Xingqiu’s carriage, protecting him and you start to put up a magic barrier around the knights. Before your spell finishes, you’re thrown towards the nearest tree trunk and pushed against it. Your captor states loudly. “Y/N, your job was to kill the prince, you incompetent fool. You’ve taken far too long, we’re taking matters into our own hands,” Xingqiu hears everything from the carriage, and by the time everything’s over and the knights have warded the enemies away, you were gone.

Zhongli

A wise, well spoken prince. Looks at everything objectively and does not get agitated easily. Also the grand commander of the lance fournies (basically knights on horseback that uses the lance instead of a sword). You’re already married to him and the romance the two of you had was just beginning to blossom. He cared for you more and more each day.

The kingdom was struck by an earthquake one night, although it only lasted a few seconds. Everyone thought that was the end of it, but the earthquakes became more frequent. Rumors and legends start to spread that the ancient dragon sealed underneath a large tree outside of town was starting to awaken again, and it was threatening the peace of the kingdom. Zhongli investigates and realizes that the rumors are true. The ancient seal was withering away and no one knew how to fix it nor defeat the dragon. However, the dragon speaks. In three days, the seal will break. The only way to stop it is to present it with an offering of its choice. The dragon chooses the prince’s wife to be the offering.

ZHONGLI is experienced and slow. The God of war has both loved and lost before, therefore each-time your lips meet, there is a roughness as if you were to fade away yet a sense of un-rushedness to it as well. He kisses you to mark you his and remind you that no-matter how much time passes, his love for you will never fade. For he wishes to savor the moment while it lasts as well as carve it on his heart.

XIAO is shy and sensitive. 'Love is like karma' He thinks but each-time your lips cage his, he is proven wrong. Love is to heal and you heal him. You love him. And he loves you too! And he tries to show it by kissing back with passion and intertwining his hands with yours or sometimes... he may even take you in his arms and vanish away into your own world. Away from worries and stress, where you can kiss him forever.

CHILDE is hungry and fierce. You may kiss him a thousand times yet it will never be enough, your sweet taste or your love. Might be that he is greedy or acts like a teenager but can you blame him for the addiction that you are just too sweet. This yearning and need for you and your touch is gonna kill him one day, he swears. But hey! At least he'll die happily.

XINGQIU is hesitant yet honest. He hesitates in kisses wondering if you are ready or perhaps even he is enough for you or not. You are what he considers an angel from celestia and he is just...him. But as you're lips meet, his hesitation slowly melts away and more affectionate and tender Xingqiu is revealed to you. The one that promises to protect you and love you as long as he lives.

CHONGYUN is serene and sincere. Maybe it's his yang energy or just you but you could swear you feel more safe and free in every kiss. He just drains you off all the concerns and becomes your home. He confesses his love through the softness in the kiss and his joy to have you by his side yet a blush tends to dust his cheeks despite his attempts.

KAZUHA is gentle and sensual. Like ever-flowing wind, kazuha tends to travel more than settling. Which is why, his lips find yours with a gentleness, that makes you melt and the butterflies in your stomach start making you shy but not only that! In that kiss, he also expresses his devotion to you and that you will forever hold his heart and cloud his thoughts, no-matter how far he roams.

SCARAMOUCHE is submissive and impatient. The sixth harbinger is addicted to you and longs for those kisses you steal from him. The desire for your kisses is overpowering yet he just doesn't want to control. Just not yet. He wants to see you show him what he's longed for. He wants to be weak, vulnerable without being judged and so, he let's his guard down. 'But only this time...' he lies.

THOMA is loving yet rushed. As someone who strifes to help those in need, he doesn't have much time to spare but he believes if the kiss is not getting the message through then it's not enough. what if chongyun’s yang energy isn’t enough for xiao? what if he still ultimately succumbs to the karmic debt building up inside of him, and his last request/will is for someone to end his existence? chongyun would volunteer because they’d feel like they failed in trying to protect xiao.

xiao doesn’t want to lose his mind or disappear, and chongyun doesn’t want to see xiao suffer at all, so he’d take xiao to jueyen karst, far away from any other people, and try his best to comfort xiao before sticking him through with a sword.

can you imagine how utterly painful it’d be for chongyun though? not just seeing the yaksha he loves wholeheartedly and completely die, but by their own hand as well. chongyun would completely crumble and fall to pieces over it.

even if it had been xiao’s last request and dying wish, chongyun would spend the rest of his life feeling remorse, anguish and grief over it.

Kissing Genshin Characters before you Die

Summary - Kissing the Genshin Characters one last time before you enter the battlefield.

Pairings - Reader x Albedo / Barbara / Bennett / Beidou / Chongyun / Diluc / Eula / Kazuha / Kaeya / Ayaka / Ningguang / Childe / Venti / Xiao / Zhongli

Warnings - Angst, death mentions

Tips - I wrote this listening to ‘Lovely’ and ‘Listen before I go,’ so it might make it better if you listen to both those songs while reading this :’) Both are by Billie Eilish btw, both reverb and slowed down songs for the extra angst

A/N - Im so tired, so so tired of human interaction and having no motivation to talk to people. Its like my social battery simply does not recharge, and I'm stuck writing about interactions I wish I could have, even if it's angst. Burying myself in the delusion that being in a different reality would change everything, burying myself in little imaginations and dreams of a love that doesn't exist.

Also yes, if you did notice the song lyrics playing at first are from "If the World was Ending," used to listen to that song so much. Thought it would fit this :)

“If the world was ending you’d come over right?”

It was absolute chaos, flames crawling up the wooden buildings and spreading smoke through the nation of Teyvat. Everything burned with the scorching heat, children crying, men and woman trying to run from the unescapable flames. Terror etched into citizens faces when encountering the monsters who appeared unaffected by the destruction.

Hilichurls and ruin guards smashing past people, till there was nowhere to run. And it was the mere decision of whether being beaten to death or burnt crisp was a better way to leave this world.

“You’d come over and you’d stay the night.”

But there you were, weapon in hand as you stood up against the blaze. Strong against the unblinking inferno in front of you, unwavering as you stood in front of the monsters that eagerly rushed towards you. Cut and obliterated in seconds, your eyes held nothing but a sickening disgust.

You slowly turned back to your s/o, relief quenching your heart when they were safe in the little location you’d found for them. They were injured, they wouldn't be sitting on the sidelines otherwise. And holding your weapon up again, you claimed the role of protector against the hoard of monsters.

“Would you love me for the hell of it?”

Their voice broke past your focus, a ragged sound that was suffering. It only took you a few strides till you reached them, crouching down to face them fully. Your faces were mere inches away, and you could see the frustration on their face. A deeply rooted feeling that fueled the action as they curled their hand around your head. Pressing your lips against theirs, one last kiss before you assumed the role of predator against the monsters.

“All our fears would be irrelevant.”

Both hands coming to hold their face, you pressed forwards into their kiss. Grasp tight against them, clinging onto them as if they were your lifeline.

“If the world was ending you’d come over right?”

You kissed them as if the world wasn't a aflame, like it was just you both sitting there. Hands grasping for their skin, for their lips, for them. Because without them you couldn't live in this smoldering world, a bright light that cocooned you in its comforting warmth. Nothing like the blazing flames that surrounded the two of you.

You kissed them like they were the only thing that mattered.

“The sky’d be falling and I’d hold you tight.”

But you felt the shake in their hands as they pressed their hand against your back, scared to let you go, scared to lose you. Scared to let this kiss end and have to face the scorching reality.

“And there wouldn't be a reason why.”

You pressed one last kiss to their forehead, basking in their embrace once more between you broke away. The look on your face was confident as you faced them one last time, softened by their teary eyes. Whispering soft words to them, you could only watch as they broke down, a tight feeling in your chest urging you to do the same.

But no, you had to be strong. For them, for yourself, for all of Teyvat. You slowly turned to the flames and monsters, holding up your weapon, screaming one last battle cry as you let your weapon lead your actions. As you let death become your only objective in a flurry to protect your partner.

“We would even have to say goodbye.”

Sobs wretched out of their throat as they watched you crumble, watched you fall the ground and collapse. Till the movement of your chest came to an abrupt stop, and monsters pooled at your sides.

They were forced to watch, unable to move.

“If the world was ending you’d come over right?”

Their cries turned to whimpers, until they couldn't hear the noises that spilled form their lips. Until they didn't care. What they cared about was thrown on their battlefield, beaten and ragged, torn and broken.

Dead.

“You’d come over… right?”

Albedo

He takes his time, hand on the back of your neck pushing you so hard against him till he’s woozy. Memorizing the feel of your plush lips against his, molding them into memory with every kiss. He’ll break away from your lips, pressing soft pecks up your face, along your nose, to your forehead. Infatuated with the way your hands gently hold his face, careful, delicate. He doesnt want to let you go, and with one final peck right between your eyes, he’ll close his eyes, whispering a goodbye as you leave. He doesnt open them when you die, he doesnt open them when the monsters reach him. No, he dies in your embrace, even if its not real.

Barbara

Desperate, oh so desperate. She doesnt know what to do with you when you press your hands to her face, tearful. You’ll have to be the one to initiate the kiss, muffling her cries with a short lived sweetness between the two of you. She’ll have her hands all over you, unsure of how to hold you, how to press you against her. She wants to stay like this forever, and even if her kisses are sloppy and messy, she’s crying too much to notice. She won’t break away, you’ll have to tug your way out of her grip and press one last kiss to her forehead. Her voice is angelic, even when she cries. You remind yourself that this is what you’re protecting as you enter the battlefield, giving it your all.

Beidou

Oh she knows, knows how this will play out. The kisses shared between the two of you are strong and compassionate, its more intense than any other kiss you’ve both shared before. Because she knows. She knows what’ll become of you and her, that this is the last kiss she’ll share with you, that there's nothing she can do about it. She lets herself indulge in you, her strong hold on you never letting go until you vocally ask her to let you go. You make her promises she knows you can't keep, but simply smiles, telling you to come back to her.

Bennett

Awkward, his hands will grab your shoulders when you approach him, pressing for a kiss immediately. He misses his mark, accidentally pressing his lips to the edge of your lips, noses bumping against each other as he tries to shift his face. You chuckle, holding his face as you adjust the angle, till you can fully reach his lips and press him against you. Like Barbara, he’ll cry, letting himself melt into you. He doesnt resist when you back away, whispering to him. Just sitting there he’ll cry, sob through it all, vision blurry with tears. But its better that way, he can picture you better when everything is fuzzy.

Chongyun

Everything was smoldering hot, too much for Chongyun who has so much yang energy trapped in him. He’s going through one of his rushes when you get to him, eager to tuck you into his arms. His kisses are sporadic, like he’s trying to kiss you but he cant. Like no matter how much his lips meet yours, it isnt enough. He wants more, he wants the promise of your forever embrace ingrained in his head. And when you break away, he’s left empty, the kisses he’d given you the only warmth on his lips. Suddenly everything was cold, so cold, and he only wished for you.

Diluc

Too rough, mashing your lips against his until you couldn't breath. Dizzy with the lack of oxygen, he didn't stop. You were ‘his,' right here right now, no one could take you away from him. You belonged alongside him, crouched in front of him, pressed into his arms where he could keep you safe. He wouldn't let you go, strong arms pulling you to his chest so firmly that you couldn't escape. He wanted to be selfish, he let himself indulge in the promise to himself that you weren't going anywhere. You’ll have to physically break out yourself, pressing back his hands as he tries to make a grab for you, tears brimming.

Eula

You were her everything, and she’ll tell you it through her kisses. She’ll run her hands along the curve of your back, holding you tenderly against her. She doesn't wish for vengeance for all the soft kisses you’ve stolen from her good days long ago, no, she’s willing to forgive you for everything as long as you’ll ‘stay.’ She promises that in all honesty, she loves everything about you, even if she denies it sometimes. And when you leave, she tells you to come back. That its the one and only thing she’ll hold against you if you don't.

Kazuha

Soft, so incredibly sensual with every touch. Kazuha was always filled with words, filled with lovely compositions made for you and only you. But now, he couldn't think of anything, no haiku he’d written in the past that compared to what he felt right now. Metaphors and hidden meanings couldn't compare to the raw pulsing throb he felt in his chest. “I love you,” he whispered, plain and simple. It held so much affection, he was afraid even those words weren't enough to express what he felt, but he settled with it either way. “I love you,” he repeated, brushing your lips against his before he said it again. “I love you.” He said it again, even as you left, entering the battlefield. He didn't stop saying it, not when he saw the monsters take you, not when they approached him with the promise of death. “I love you.”

Kaeya

He doesnt kiss you, because kisses to Kaeya are a sort of affection that brings the sense of normalcy. He likes the way your lips feel against his, but holding you against him is more special. He doesnt depend on kisses to express what he feels, instead pushing your head to his chest, sighing when your own arms come to wrap around him. No kisses, no touches, just you and him. Offering each other your last shreds of hope, because in the end, you only need each other.

Ayaka

“Look at me.” Her hand cups your cheeks just as you do to her. Now you both simply stare into each others eyes, love and adoration filling hers. She loves you, oh she loves you so much. But she understands duty better than anyone, the urge to protect you almost consuming her. When she kisses you, its soft, butterfly kisses. She doesn't rely on the contact to keep her grounded, no holding your face is a gift enough for her. To stare at you, even for one last time, is all she needs. You’ve given her so much, she would follow you to the ends of the world if you asked her to, and that's why it hurts her so much to watch you fall. She closes her eyes, noticing that she’d follow soon after and perhaps see you in the afterlife. No, she would, that's a promise she makes to herself.

Ningguang

Ningguang has delt with loss before, the concept isnt foreign to her. But you… you’re more than the jade chamber, more than any possession she has. You’re precious, like she sold a piece of her heart to you that she could never gain back. You took it from her, and you plan to take it with you to the battlefield. All she can do is press her lips against yours. Kiss you and the world beside you both becomes meaningless, until air becomes a chore instead of a necessity. Because without air she'd kiss you forever.

Childe

Details, in the case that Childe himself cant fight alongside you, he’ll hold you and repeat the details in his head. The way his hand feels on your hair, how soft or rough your lips are against his. How you fit against him, how badass you look out in the battlefield. He won’t stop you from leaving him, because he knows that if this case was reversed, he’d want you to let him go too. So he presses intimate kisses, slow ones that dont consist of a fight for dominance like they usually do. No, he wants to tell you how much he loves you, one last time.

Venti

He doesnt know what to do, pressed against you firmly. He presses soft kisses, but theres no emotion, he doesn't know how to express himself here. He’s lost a lot, lost so much in his existence, but nothing prepared him for this. Only after a kisses will he ask to cry, and when you tell him yes he’ll press his head against your shoulder. He’ll sob, hands gripping the fabric of your shirt as he does so. And then he kisses you while tears stream down his face, mashes your lips against his until his face grows numb. And he’ll continue to feel numb when you leave, when you die, when he dies.

Xiao

He doesn't know what to do, Xiao has never felt so utterly useless when you crouch to him. Form battered and bruised, when you embrace him he feels whole again. You’re his world, he doesn't care about the blazing inferno just beside you, the monsters that threaten all of Teyvat. You are his everything, what he strives to protect and keep safe. Kisses with him are breathless, both of you passionately pulling each other closer. He cant get enough of you, he wants all of you, every single piece. Molded into his embrace until you cant get out. When you break away, he tries to pull you to him, but he finds himself only able to move in the slightest. But Xiao is a protector, he is ‘your’ protector. He follows you as you head to the battlefield, dragging his limp body in a crawl to get closer. He doesn't stop when he sees the monsters overtake you, no, he continues. Just until he reaches your body, grabbing you and holding your corpse into his chest. He numbs out the monsters that attack him, knowing sullenly that he's going to die. But death doesn't seem so bad, not beside you.

Zhongli

As someone who always has control over the situation, Zhongli will be able to adapt quickly. But he doesnt want you to suffer, admiring you for being so strong when everything presses against you. He wishes to relieve the weight if only a little bit with a few kisses. Sensual and intimate, he wants to support you, and if he cant do it on the battlefield he’ll do it right here. Hold you close and promise you that he’ll always be there for you. Only after you die does he allow himself to cry, not wanting to have burdened you with his tears.

Part 1 (Liyue)

Warning: angst! Mention of Death (you) spelling errors

A/n: I had this idea a long time ago and this is was a draft- and now that I’ve seen some of the genshin angst tiktok… *cry* inspiring (DIDNT PUT SOME OF THEM because I didn’t know how to describe them >:’0)

Zhongli

Believe it or not, he will pay for the funeral.

He will give the most heartwarming stories of you

Has a hard time focusing on his work, has to have something with him that reminds him of you

Will visit you every morning and night “good morning love” and “goodnight (y/n) I hope you are resting well”

Doesn’t cry, more like he can’t cry but deep inside he wants to let it go out so bad

“You will always shine like gold in my memory y/n”

Hu Tao

She couldn’t make a single joke that day not even to make everyone happy

She plans your funeral with delicacy

Doesn’t let anybody else plan it, only her and Zhongli (or if you have family she will let them help)

Visit you all the time and tells you all the pranks she has done today

She cried a lot that day, zhongli had to take her away…

She couldn’t handle not having a partner for her pranks

“I finally found your favorite flowers! I’m going to plant them all over you…”

Ganyu

Tell me she wouldn’t cry...

She is indeed a busy woman so she can’t visit a lot…

But she brings you flowers every now and then and tells you how her training is going

She blames herself and works even more hard to protect the ones she loves

At one point she was trying to bring xiao with her, and after so many time she couldn’t find him anywhere, she didn’t want to tell you

“Everything is… fine”

Chongyun

He took the news bad…

Angry bad

He lost control of his energy and because he got so sad and angry he Destroyed everything that was in his room, tears not stopping.

And stayed there for a really long time crying, he thought it was his fault for not going with you that day

He goes every morning to visit you and eat at least one popsicles and tells you where he’s going

Xingqiu

Writes a book about you and the adventures you had (with a happy ending…)

Tells people about you and how inspiring you were

Writes you letter with hopes that one day you can read all of them

But

he writes them all in your favorite spot

Sadly he can’t visit you because of his duties- but when he does have time he brings a book and read for you

“I always wanted to read this one with you!”

Beidou

Will make the crew visit you (with her- as a group) whenever they are around to wish you well

If you had any wish or goals

She will complete them with kazuha

She won’t stop until she got what you wanted to have

Will bring you stuff that reminds her of you

Won’t cry but can’t get out of the ship for some time

She’s trying to put it all together- blaming herself here and there

“Look! Bet y/n would like this)

Qiqi

As much as she doesn’t want to forget

She ends up forgetting it (dw it’s in her notes)

Many times has she forgotten and ask everyone if they had seen them because she needed help

And when they remind her about the sad truth she goes silent

“Oh… Qiqi forgot…” and leave heartbroken

Baizhu takes her to visit you

“Qiqi want to see… y/n… Qiqi miss y/n”

Xiao

Blames himself

But it’s angry at you for not calling his name

Won’t visit you even if ganyu tells him to try

At one point he tried to find who did this to you, kill them and take revenge, they took someone special, they should pay for this…

At the end, he disappeared from the world

No one knew where he was, not even ganyu or zhongli

He didn’t want to see anyone else

He no longer trusted people.

Childe

Won’t believe it/ Won’t listen to anyone

Waits for you every to fight him but when hours go by

He realizes that you never coming

Goes to look for you everywhere, with tears in his, yes, you where indeed dead

Fights everyone he can fight, also makes sure to find who did this to you and kill them

At one point gives up with the idea that you would be mad at him for fighting everything without a reason.

Diluc

Stays under your umbrella the whole time, probably reading or just watching the coastline for anything suspicious

He doesn’t want to be too distracted incase something goes wrong so he finds things he can do that he can kind of turn his brain off with

But for the most he’s just in over protective Dark Knight mode as per usual, it’s just that this time he’s wearing swimming trunks and a loose shirt

If you do manage to drag him to the water though he’ll be grateful for the coolness of it, it might steam a little honestly with how much he was sitting there baking in the sun

He’s got those big rich boy sunglasses that cover like half his face on the whole time too

Coupled with his hair being tied back he’s got the whole look down pat

Poor guy’s going to get weird tan lines

He’s gonna want a fruity cold drink when the two of you are done swimming, nothing to extravagant maybe just some grape juice with one of those cute umbrellas and that’s it

He’s gonna avoid looking at you the whole time if you bring a swimsuit and nothing to cover yourself but he won’t admit it of course

You can wear whatever the hell you want he doesn’t care but it feels wrong to let his eyes wander just because your bottoms happen to be hanging a little lower than they usually do

After he lets loose a little and relaxes he’ll be down for a game of volleyball but I’m warning you he’s competitive as fuck

After all is said and done he’s going to walk you up and down the beach at sundown along the shoreline with a small content smile on his face

He’s gonna wrap his arm around you and kiss your shoulder before dragging you to sit down on a rock pointing out towards the sea and he’s gonna tear up a lil bit because he doesn’t get to have romance very often these days but he’ll be okay

Just talk about everything and nothing to him and honestly this would be the time now to tell him you love him

Just watch the rouged ocean waves meld into mauve as the sun slowly falls below the waterline while holding him and just take it all in

…if he falls asleep against your arm though that’s it. You’re not moving ever again if you do and you wake this exhausted man up natural selection is coming for you for being WEAK but not before Xiao deletes your bloodline singlehandedly

Kaeya

He knows he looks good and he knows even better the beach is the perfect place to flaunt that, dramatic soaked walk out of the water included

The world is a stage and he came to perform

He’s gonna be in the water for the most part though because he doesn’t like the heat on the beach so admire him while you can, he’ll be gone

You swear the guy could be a merman with how well he swims, he looks the part too

If you can’t swim already he’s going to have fun teaching you how. He’s kind of a harsh teacher, more of the throw you in the deep end kind of guy but just be assured he knows not to kill someone…usually

Huh maybe he is merman

I mean what with all the mystery that’s happening…who’s to say some of us haven’t gone home different from how we arrived?

If you can swim he’s going to race you back and forth across the surf and if the two of you keep drawing he’s going to race you into open ocean until you both don’t have the stamina to breathe

The guy is full of energy and ready to run until sundown and you’re going to get a good night’s rest because of it

Because he’s going to be combing the tidepools all day relentlessly and it is going to be fantastic

Tidepools can be really sketchy but Albedo has a sixth sense for when the tides are turning so you’re going to be walking up and down the beach as they turn finding all kinds of scenic views you didn��t even know were at the islands and finding even more tidepools to poke at and study

He's gonna want you to model because this is the most perfect natural light he's ever seen and he wants to imprint it on his memories for the rest of his existence

If you can somehow point out a perfect place for him to paint I'm convinced the guy will marry you mentally and forget to actually ask you

He's not really one for swimming but if you bring a floatie he'll kind of just awkwardly lay there

He might fall asleep I'm gonna be real so give him lots of sunscreen before he does or he's going home looking like a cherry and sore beyond belief

The both of you are going to stay out from dawn till dusk if he can help it, you all are stuck there right? May as well make the most of it. Having breakfast right before sunrise and then wandering out to the shore to watch all the crabs make their morning rounds before burying themselves and then studying the many riveting tiny fish in the tidepools before exploring the cliffs and bluffs and then finally just sitting on the boat and staring at the moon and stars over a hot meal. It's certainly a nice break from the frigid laboratory you call home.

Please keep his notes out of the water? Please? He's fallen into it before and nearly ruined a beautiful sketch of an endangered species that may be the only accurate sketch of it to ever be seen by human eyes .

His response to seeing a spined fish whilst floating about was to stick his face infront of it thankfully it wasn't poisonous or anything but it seems that he's left the more aware parts of his brain on Dragonspine.

Considering the CEO of GEO lives by a harbor he's well accustomed to the benefits of being by the seaside, so the first thing he's gonna do is of course

Walk into the water with no regard to anyone else or anything the man just wants to go diving

The fact he was given makeshift goggles by Klee only serves to worsen the fact he doesn't come up for air for much longer than a human should would be concerning if not for the fact he's an archon and air is never something that crossed his oblivious draconic mind

He's gonna wanna show you whatever he finds and him strolling out of the water holding a feather star was not something your poor heart needed, he also of course got a bit of a scolding from Jean but it was more of a "...maybe put that back" because honestly I doubt anyone but him and other Archons have seen whatever the hell lurks in the ocean at this point

Don't let him near the boat's steering wheel

Combined with Venti's feral attitude on the beach the boat is effectively a projectile missile on a mission to break the sound barrier two times over and the both of them drunk on the Good Vibes of a vacation might very well manage that

You've never seen an ounce of evil in this man but that glint in his eyes as you basically tokyo drifted around a whirlpool was borderline malicious

He's gonna love experiencing all of those little things couples do on the beach, sunbathing together is going to be a treat once he calms down from exploring every nook and cranny he can

It's nice for him to experience normalcy like this. In all his long life he's been so wrapped up in so many things he hasn't really gotten the chance to go to the beach just to be silly so when he looks up from helping build a sandcastle to see you chattering away with someone, half soaked and giggling at stupid things he comes to appreciate mortal life even more

If you're having a campfire night on the beach he's the one to bring for stories after dinner and he always enjoys the witty comments other people make about them

One thing not to ask for is scary stories though because the stuff that will come out of his mouth whilst your sitting on a pitch black beach with only the ominous roaring of the ocean behind you and the angry flames providing a small shield of protection against what might be lurking is not the way you wanna die. The worst part is that you're not even sure if they're true or not because it's a 50/50 with this guy

Zhongli and marshmallows is like watching a cat with catnip

In fact any sort of beach or sleepover snack is gonna be one he adores especially in this environment, he's here to make memories and food is gonna be one of the better ones for sure

When you see his amber eyes widen with shock at the painting exploding in the sky it's gonna be like witnessing someone go outside for the first time, the sheer joy and excitement in them is more than going to make his day. He's gonna be remembering that for millennia to come.

Water gun fights. Do they even have some kind of water gun in their time period? You're going to be having an all out war with this man all day and my god you are going to be pissed when he hoses you down tomorrow as a prank whilst you're trying to sleep in.

It's like watching those videos of pro paint ball player teams if you team up with anyone, he's gone all serious commando boy on you

Name calling and strategy, "OH MY GOD THEY SHOT VENTI" "THOSE ASSHOLES", of only the most gentlemanly well put sort

He's just turned into a rowdy party boy

You're gonna be messing with something on the beach and look up to him figuring out if he uses his water vision just right with a surfboard he can effectively turn it into a speedboat before the invention of electricity

Childe is the kind of guy to manage to bang his toe on every piece of rock halfway in the sand on a walk and still somehow spot the transparent jellyfish you were about to step on and push you out of the way into the surf so that you don't

He's gonna want watermelon for a snack for the aesthetic

If you can play music or have someone that can sing there's going to end up having a dance party on the boat with sea shanties because when it comes down to it nothing beats speeding along the waves, tripping over each other whilst loud music is echoing over the waves and good food

When you all get a bit tired but aren't quite ready to sit by the campfire he's down for some chilled out sports as long as nobody knocks his drink over

Oh look Kaeya knocked his drink over

He's going to chase him down across the beach just let it happen it's fine

It's all fun and games though so chances are you're gonna see them chasing each other back and forth because Kaeya found a weird looking crab and it weirded Childe out

Venti

Venti may as well be a model at the beach

He's got the best outfit by far complete with hella big sunglasses and a necklace of flowers (he brought you a matching necklace because he's heard cute things about couples doing that), he's probably got a cute headpiece too

He's ready to party he just needs a couple of drinks

Which he's already had

He likes the raspberry smoothies

It doesn't matter if he's going to regret it he's going to have milkshakes and smoothies all day, chances are if you see him he's causing chaos with one hand and holding a drink in the other

If you've never seen anyone turn a whole group of adults into giddy little children within 5 minutes of them arriving I present to you our little ball of chaotic infectious joy Venti

His favorite milkshake is banana btw

He's gonna wanna play truth or dare after all the kids go to bed

It’s going to go really stupid really fast and it is 100% a way for you to get pictures of Diluc trying to do a handstand on Jean’s shoulders because the girl has a surprising amount of strength and Diluc is somewhat malleable after a day of relaxation

Kinda the reason why more often than not there are more dares than truths though those always end up interesting as well

No one really makes it deep truths but it’s almost always something more interesting than what’s your favorite color

“Who is your favorite adventuring partner” is banned though after the last time someone asked the Traveler and it quickly descended into chaos

He's gonna fall asleep on the beach honestly, probably in a hammock. If there's a hoe more dramatic than Kaeya it's drunk Venti slung dramatically over furniture dreaming about something or another and muttering furiously about how stressful learning to play instruments is

Pick him up, dump him in bed and leave the covers off so he doesn't get too hot

You can snuggle with him if you want he'll probably enjoy waking up to a friendly face

Just make sure to close the curtains because the last thing he wants in the morning when he's feeling horrible is sunlight blinding him so bad he can see his ancestors

Xiao

Not going to lie you're going to see two kinds of Xiao at the beach

Either he's so disgusted by the idea of getting in the water with mortals at all that he's hiding inside buildings, tents, boats you name it just to get away

Or he's dead asleep on the beach chairs or on his towel

If not for an occasional shift because the sun's too bright (or maybe Klee's sandcastle that she's building on top of him) you'd quite literally think he's dead since his chest doesn't really move up and down all that much

Honestly it's kind of humbling that he trusts those around you enough to guard him whilst he's basically comatose until lunch time but it's still kinda gives you the creeps he can just switch himself off like that

Chances are more often than not though you're gonna get angsty I've Never Seen Sunlight In My Life Xiao though

He's gonna be reading and if he gets bothered he's just going to hide himself with his adeptal powers if people get too irritating for him, he's still sitting in the same spot because he'd feel a little guilty about just straight up ditching you but he's just not visible to the human eye

The only reason you knew he was there was because Zhongli wandered over and asked him to stop being so reclusive and he actually got a response from thin air?? You just didn't question it and went back to braiding Klee's hair back before she launches herself back into the water and ruins it with saltwater

If you happen to get Sleepy Boi Xiao though once he wakes up he's going to be in this pleasant mood for the rest of the day and night, he's gonna help you pick stuff up in that grouchy way he does, he's gonna subtly brag about you to the other guys and he's going to 10000000000001% obliterate Childe at any sort of challenge he's throwing his way

Volleyball? To the death.

Scuffed water gun fight? To the death.

He's gonna want a good spar with Diluc too for what it's worth (he won't admit it but he's another mortal that he can somewhat tolerate and he totally doesn't enjoy sparring with the guy)

You could've sworn the two of them had inside jokes but the two of them are so hard to read you're not really sure if that was a smile Diluc cracked or if Xiao's snort was out of irritance or not

The boat ride's gonna be his favorite, feeling the calm sea breeze wash over him and play with his hair ahhhhh that fresh salty sea air

Of course he'd never say it outloud but you can tell by the sheen in his eyes and the relaxed slack in his shoulders later that night whilst you're sitting in the cabana watching the adults tell stories that he's thankful you brought him here

He's gonna pay it forward eventually...not many people give him breaks like this

Immediate Kaeya main. He sees him in the prologue, simps for him, fights with him, dies with him.

He doesn’t even play the game properly. He only plays for Kaeya.

Loads it up in the morning going “Hey handsome.” Certified Kaeya Kinnie.

Bonus: His fans were the ones who pestered him into playing, so a week later when he posts a Kaeya cosplay on twitter? Everyone goes WILD.

Yoosung

Horrible Gacha luck but he’s addicted. What can I say? In terms of money…there is no money. Officially broke, slave to wishing </3. Respectable following on twitch, but gets so much SHIT from his viewers bc he is so funny to tease LOL.

“Guys stop!! I’m not gonna get c4- Keqing stop saying her name in chat!!! I need Kazuha!!”

Has like half of the 5 stars available bc he keeps losing 50/50s LOL. Certified anemo simp. Razor main forever!! Also likes Bennett. A lot </3. definitely a bennett kinnie.

But when Kazuha came out? Oh my god. He was in LOVE. Here’s a character he truly kins. Just loves Kazuha’s chill energy. (crying wishes Kazuha was real because he wants to be his best friend)

Jaehee

Goldfish, casual spender. Her main source of stress relief after a long day of work. She puts on a Zen musical and vibes as she casually 36 stars abyss with her level 90 Ganyu and Jean.

Anonymous in Yoosung’s streams but out of responsibility she comes on to give him a few tips on building characters and stuff. Unspoken legend in Superman Yoosung’s streams- so good at making team comps that work.

Doesn’t play too much- maybe like 1 hour a day and sometimes skips dailies because of work T_T.

Favourite characters are Jean Ganyu and Chongyun! She admires how hard working they are, and seeing them in her party never fails to brighten her day </3.

Jumin

Crying is he even playing the same game as the rest of us? This isn’t even Genshin anymore straight up- this is the sims.

His AR 25 account is so confusing because somehow he barely did any of the main storyline quests, but here he is in Inazuma casually collecting wood for new furnishings??

100% Zhongli main. Whaled for his c6 but doesn’t know what it does. All he knows is that rock from sky go boom boom and destroy enemies.

Eula and Ningguang appreciator! Uses them to lecture Yoosung and how they rose to power despite their backgrounds.

But at the end of the day, he’s only here for the teapot. And say what you will but…that shit AESTHETIC.

Basically Tony to. Uploads random videos of his solo amber and solo barbara 36 starring Abyss.

Yoosung shit talks him on stream because of how lucky seven is with his pulls, but still only uses amber and Barbara.

Has all the achievements, maxxed EVERYTHING.

Probably a bit soft for Childe though. Projects onto him a lot. Cried in the Teucer quest. Wants Childe to be happy so gets a Zhongli for him (even though he doesn’t use Zhongli). Builds a house for them <3.

Though his main DPS’s are Barb and Amber, his go to supports are Xingqiu and Childe (gets hate comments for using Childe as a support LOL).

Absolutely adores Xingqiu for being a prim and proper young man on the outside, but an absolute MENACE on the inside. Enjoys the Xingyun dynamic he and Jaehee share </3

Unknown

Manical screaming. Meta player. 5 million damage Hu Tao. Hates 4 star DPS’s with a burning passion (especially Amber ♡).

Angry keyboard sounds. Sticks to conventional teams and artifacts. Maybe a streamer using voice distorter/vtuber model LOL. Rants about new players playing the game wrong by crafting Whiteblind for Razor.

Angry Xiao main. Has him c6 with an r5 primod spear. Maxxed talents. SPAMS the poor guy’s burst for every little thing. Small hillichurl? Well it’s time for evIL coNquERiNg.

Scary villain laughter as he plunges through Teyvat one shotting everything. Doesn’t believe in healers bc they’re ‘for the weak’ so he dies a lot. But never shows it on camera.

But then there Albedo was. In the first 10 pull. And V has never felt such a strong connection to a fictional character ever before.

ALBEDO.

Started because Seven forcefully installed it on his phone during the Albedo banner in december. Clicked wish randomly and was like “oh boy what does this do” blind hours.

Very nice character owner🥺. Reads all the lore, plays every single character he attains because he doesn’t want them to 'be lonely’. However, Albedo never leaves his number one spot. And then klee in number two because V will do ANYTHING to ensure Albedo’s happiness. But he’ll laugh shyly if anyone asks him about it.

Visits dragonspine and just leaves Albedo AFK in his lab to enjoy the music. Smiles when Albedo sketches during his idle, prompts him to get out a sketch book as well.

Collects flowers, lets anyone into his world. Super wholesome🥺.

Rika

Has never felt more at home in Inazuma. Mondstad was overly cheerful and stifling to her; Liyue overly pragmatic.

Empathises with every Liyue NPC. Loves to enjoy the music and walk around, trying to help anyone and everyone.

Feels a very close connection to Baal</3. Preparing to roll for her. Currently an Ayaka main (appreciates Ayaka very much. Was a little teary when she learned that her parents died).

One side of her kins baal and the other kins Ayaka. Kazuha is her sub DPS, she enjoys bringing him along everywhere.

Understands the feeling of being banished from a place. Kazuha reminds Rika of a little brother she wants to protect, and someone she had to leave behind </3.
